British rockers THE DARKNESS have released their expletive-drenched new single, "Solid Gold", via Cooking Vinyl, accompanied by a video of the self-proclaimed rock legends performing in a huge aircraft hanger amongst a mass of glam-rock lighting and Marshall speaker stacks. The disc finds THE DARKNESS on electrifying form, delivering some of the most sharp-witted, infectious, humorous and downright brilliant songs of their career. The album is also the first to feature the drumming and vocal talents of new band member Rufus Tiger Taylor, son of QUEEN legend Roger Taylor, who shares vocal duties with Justin on two of the tracks. To celebrate the release of "Pinewood Smile", THE DARKNESS will tour extensively at the end of this year, playing seventeen dates in the U.K. throughout November and December, including a headline show at London's Hammersmith Eventim Apollo on December 10. The shows are part of a wider European tour.

Japanese metallers LOUDNESS will release a new album, "Rise To Glory", on January 26, 2018. The follow-up to 2014's "The Sun Will Rise Again" will be made available in Japan via Ward Records and throughout Europe and America via earMUSIC, home to other world-class acts such as DEEP PURPLE, ALICE COOPER, STATUS QUO, DEF LEPPARD and THUNDER.

LOUDNESS has released twenty-six studio albums, five of them in the U.S. The band's lineup has changed multiple times since 1981, with the current incarnation consisting of three original members — lead singer Minoru Niihara, guitarist Akira Takasaki and bassist Masayoshi Yamashita — along with drummer Masayuki Suzuki, who joined the group in 2009.

Original LOUDNESS drummer Munetaka Higuchi died in 2008 after a year-long battle with liver cancer.

LOUDNESS released a special thirtieth-anniversary edition of its classic "Thunder In The East" album in Japan in November 2015 in several different versions, featuring demo recordings, bonus DVDs with live footage from their 1985 U.S. tour, a documentary about the making of the LP and other things.

Asked by Metal Rules to recall some of the highlights from the "Thunder In The East" days, Niihara said: "We opened for MÖTLEY CRÜE and we played Madison Square Garden. I was told by my manager, and I don't know if it is true or not, that you have to take a huge limo to get into Madison Square Garden. We were in this limo and the views reminded me of a LED ZEPPELIN movie. We thought, 'We made it!' because Madison Square Garden is such an important place. I know there are bigger places in the States, but that place is so important and so many bands have played there, it gave me goose bumps."

WHITESNAKE had already released a string of Top 10 albums in England before the band conquered the world in 1987 with their eponymous record, also known in some countries as "1987", which was certified multi-platinum and featured the smash single "Here I Go Again". The classic album turns 30 this year and Rhino is celebrating with four new versions, including an expansive boxed set.

"Whitesnake: Super Deluxe Edition" will be available on October 6 for $49.98. The 4-CD/DVD collection includes the original album with newly remastered sound, unreleased live and studio recordings, classic music videos, concert footage, a thirty-minute documentary, featuring a new interview with David Coverdale, WHITESNAKE's founder and lead singer. The music comes with a sixty-page hardbound book that's filled with rare and unseen photos from the era, an extended essay based on new interviews with Coverdale, plus a booklet of the album's lyrics, handwritten by Coverdale. The audio will also be available via digital download and streaming services.

Three other versions of "Whitesnake" will also be available the same day. A Deluxe Edition will be available in both 2-CD ($19.98) and 2-LP ($29.98) versions, each including the newly remastered album expanded with a selection of unreleased bonus recordings. A single-disc version of the newly remastered album will also be available.

This also marks the first release under a newly signed catalog deal with WHITESNAKE and Rhino Entertainment, the catalog division of Warner Music Group. This new deal includes both the North American and Japanese rights, marking the first time a substantial amount of the WHITESNAKE catalog will reside under Warner Music Group worldwide.

"It gives me great joy to finally have so much of my WHITESNAKE catalog all under the same roof with the Warner family and I'm thrilled to be now working with this tremendous team on a worldwide basis," says Coverdale. "I have great memories of being with Warner back in my days with DEEP PURPLE. Then when I was with Geffen, they were distributed by Warner, so it feels like coming home to now have WHITESNAKE there. This elaborate reissue is the perfect project to kick off the new relationship."

Soon after its release in April 1987, "Whitesnake" became a huge success around the world, selling multi million copies. It peaked at #2 on the Billboard album chart and spawned four popular singles: "Still Of The Night", "Give Me All Your Love", "Is This Love" (which reached #2) and the #1 hit "Here I Go Again".

"Whitesnake: Super Deluxe Edition" comes with an entire disc of unreleased live performances featuring Adrian Vandenberg, Vivian Campbell and Tommy Aldridge, recorded during the band's 1987-88 tour. The music includes live versions of several tracks from "1987", plus WHITESNAKE classics "Slide It In", "Love Ain't No Stranger" and "Slow An' Easy".

An additional disc spotlights the creative process behind "Whitesnake" with a selection of elevent unreleased demo and rehearsal recordings, including early versions of nearly every song on the album called "87 Evolutions". The final disc introduces newly remixed versions the album's four singles, and includes rare radio mixes, as well as songs from "87 Versions", an EP released exclusively in Japan.

The DVD from "Whitesnake: Super Deluxe Edition" includes music videos for the four singles, all of which have been carefully restored and remixed in 5.1 Surround Sound for the first time ever. In addition, the DVD also features a new thirty-minute documentary about the making of "Whitesnake", a new promo video made especially for this set of the 1988 version of "Here I Go Again" and unreleased live footage from the 1987-88 tour.

According to Billboard, a WHITESNAKE home video will follow on Record Store Black Friday (November 24) as well as a coffee table book chronicling "The Purple Album" cycle from 2015. An all-new WHITESNAKE studio album is planned for 2018, along with a world tour.

"It was a lot of fun to do," Coverdale told Billboard of the "Whitesnake" reissue, "because I don't go back a lot. I kind of learn from the past to apply those lessons to the future and the present. But my gratitude for (the album) is beyond words. I've only ever gone into a studio to try to improve on the last record...There was no, 'Right, I'm gonna sell thirty-odd million fucking records!' It was amazing, just amazing, so it's great to revisit all of this."

Coverdale also revealed that he has been getting together with WHITESNAKE guitarists Reb Beach and Joel Hoekstra for regular writing sessions for a new album that will lively arrive late spring of 2018. "I'm actually very excited about it because it's the first opportunity both Reb and Joel and I have actually had to sit down and write together," Coverdale said of what will be WHITESNAKE's first set of original material since 2011's "Forevermore". "There's a lot of what one would refer to as arena rock; Reb and I were talking the other night over dinner and he said, 'Man, there's so many songs here that no matter where we play — Portugal or Brazil or Tokyo — they're gonna get this hook. They're gonna be punching the fuckin' air and have a great night.' And I went, 'Oh, absolutely — and more than usual,' which is great. I can't do throwaway shit. The only reason I'm doing this record are the songs are gonna be a great WHITESNAKE album for WHITESNAKE fans — and the band. It's very exciting."

"Bridge To Heaven", the new video from KEE OF HEARTS, the project featuring singer Tommy Heart (FAIR WARNING) and guitarist Kee Marcello (ex-EUROPE), can be seen below. The song is taken from the band's the self-titled debut album, which will be released on September 15 via Frontiers Music Srl. With a lineup rounded out by Ken Sandin (ex-ALIEN) on bass and Italian drummer Marco Di Salvia (PINO SCOTTO), the guys started working on the album in late 2016. With their songwriting strongly focused on melodic rock songs, the album came to completion under the direction of producer Alessandro Del Vecchio and covers a wide spectrum of styles with a lot of attention given to crafting great hooks delivered by musicians that know how to deliver the goods. Musically, the band operates in a territory defined by Scandinavian AOR meeting German melodic hard rock with influences from the classic U.S. AOR giants (think GIANT, JOURNEY, etc.).

The second trailer for "Cryptoriana - The Seductiveness Of Decay", the twelfth album from U.K.'s legendary extreme metal icons CRADLE OF FILTH, can be seen below. The disc will be released on September 22 via Nuclear Blast.

"Cryptoriana - The Seductiveness Of Decay" was recorded at Grindstone Studios, Suffolk, U.K. by the very honorable Scott Atkins, who has been the resident go-to producer for CRADLE OF FILTH for several albums. Vocalist Dani Filth sat in during the mix, serving up flaming mugs of teas, making the studio couch his own and lending his ears when necessary.

Commented Dani: "The album is deeply infused with Victorian gothic horror and thus the title is a reflection of that. 'Cryptoriana' implies the Victorian's infatuation with the supernatural, the grave and the ghoulish. And the subtitle 'The Seductiveness Of Decay' further cements this attraction to death and the glittering lengthy process of self-annihilation."

The video for the album's first single, "Heartbreak And Séance", can be seen below. Dani stated about the clip: "Working with such an artistic director as Artūrs Bērziņš was indeed an honor, as the video shoot was very extensively planned, involving a myriad of extras and crew, make-up girls and set builders, a crow, some well-behaved snakes and a considerable amount of snow, candles, water, trees, naked bodies, lamentable mourners, as well as all being submerged in suitably gothic landscapes and vistas. And the fact that we travelled to Riga in Latvia to film it was also very unique and interesting. The video itself is fantastic, drawing from the darkly erotic imagery of the album artwork and bringing it to richly technicoloured classical life. We had such a blast shooting it, as the accompanying photos attest to..."

Bērziņš is the mastermind behind the "Cryptoriana - The Seductiveness Of Decay" artwork, photography and videography — best known for his defiant neo-symbolism raster graphics and oil paintings; postmodern interpretations of classic myths. He has been proclaimed as a "sacred monster of Latvian postmodernism".

CRADLE OF FILTH has also announced its first full-scale U.K. and Ireland tour in years, starting in Belfast, Northern Ireland on October 30.

A live recording of the song "Plush" from STONE TEMPLE PILOTS' July 2, 1993 concert at the Castaic Lake Natural Amphitheater in California, taken from the upcoming 25th-anniversary expanded reissue of the band's debut album, "Core", can be streamed below.

STONE TEMPLE PILOTS roared on to the scene 25 years ago with "Core". A breakout success, the album peaked at #3 on the Billboard charts, dominated radio waves with hits like "Sex Type Thing" and "Wicked Garden", and has been certified eight times platinum by the RIAA. The band also took home the 1994 Grammy Award for "Best Hard Rock Performance" for their smash single "Plush".

To mark the legendary album's silver anniversary, Rhino will release two versions on September 29, which is 25 years to the day of the album's original debut. The first is the "Core: Super Deluxe Edition" ($79.98), which includes four CDs featuring a newly remastered version of the original album, plus more than two hours of unreleased demos and live performances, including the band's performance on "MTV Unplugged". Also included is the original album on vinyl and a DVD that contains a 5.1 Surround Sound Mix of the album along with videos for the album's four singles. The set, limited to 15,000 copies worldwide, comes packaged in a richly detailed hardcover book (12 x 12) with rare and unseen photographs. The music from the Super Deluxe version will also be available via digital download and streaming services.

Also available on the same day is a 2-CD "Core: Deluxe Version" ($19.98) containing a newly remastered version of the original album expanded with rare b-sides and previously unreleased demos. A single disc remaster of the original album will be available as well.

STONE TEMPLE PILOTS (guitarist Dean DeLeo, bassist Robert DeLeo, drummer Eric Kretz, and vocalist Scott Weiland) debuted with "Core" in the fall of 1992 and by the following summer were one of the biggest rock bands on the scene, powered by exhilarating live shows and a string of now-classic songs from the album, remastered here for the very first time.

Nearly all of the music on the second disc of both versions is making its commercial debut. Of the nine demos included, four were recorded between 1987 and 1990 when the band was known as MIGHTY JOE YOUNG. One of those, "Only Dying", is an unheard song the band had planned to re-record in 1994 for "The Crow" soundtrack. The idea was later scrapped after the star of the film, Brandon Lee, was killed during production. The disc continues with five unreleased demos from their original Atlantic sessions and concludes with four b-sides, including the jazzy "Swing Type Version" of "Sex Type Thing", as well as two acoustic versions of "Plush" — the "Acoustic Type Version" recorded with the full band and the rarely heard "first take" that was recorded by Weiland and Dean DeLeo for MTV's "Headbanger's Ball" in 1993.

The third disc contains two fiery live recordings from the summer of 1993, the first an unreleased performance at Castaic Lake Natural Amphitheater near Los Angeles and the second from the Reading Festival, making its U.S. debut here. These high-energy shows feature performances of all but two songs from "Core" as well as an early live version of "Lounge Fly", a song the band has just written a month earlier that would appear the following year on the band's second album, "Purple".

The band's iconic appearance on "MTV Unplugged", recorded in November 1993, gets its first official release on the final CD in the set. This would be their last performance in support of "Core" and includes reworked, acoustic versions of "Wicked Garden" and "Sex Type Thing", the debut performance of "Big Empty", which would later appear on "Purple", and a cover of David Bowie's "Andy Warhol".

"Core: Super Deluxe Edition" also features the original album pressed on vinyl, and a DVD that presents a 5.1 Surround Sound Mix of "Core" together will all four of the videos made for the album: "Sex Type Thing", "Plush", "Wicked Garden" and "Creep".

In April 2017, The Who took to the stage at London’s Royal Albert Hall to perform their rock opera Tommy live in its entirety for the first time in their long and illustrious career. Previous Who live shows had always dropped two, three or four tracks from the album, but for this show, in aid of the Teenage Cancer Trust, the band would perform every track. With specially created animations on a huge screen above the stage and creative use of lighting, the concert told the story of the “deaf, dumb and blind kid who sure played a mean pinball.” In addition, at the end of Tommy, the sell-out crowd was treated to a short set of Who classics. Always a great live band, this performance was a thrilling ride from start to finish.

As well as the incredible full show, Tommy: Live At The Royal Albert Hall includes some great bonus features: a behind-the-scenes featurette, plus full screen animations of both “The Acid Queen” and “Pinball Wizard” with the live performance audio.

Massachusetts metal veterans, Within The Ruins, have announced a new tour in continued support of their latest release, Halfway Human. "We're extremely excited to announce a full US headliner tour with some great supporting bands," says guitarist Joe Cocchi.

The band is also debuting an all new live music video for their track "Incomplete Harmony”. Directed by Bobby Bates, this is the third music video we've seen from Within The Ruins since the release of their latest release.

Within The Ruins will be playing the "Ataxia" instrumental in its entirety on this run, and will offer additional surprises as well. "The Way You Used To Do", the new video from QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE, can be seen exclusively at Apple Music.

Conceived by QUEENS OF THE STONE frontman Joshua Homme, directed by Jonas Åkerlund and produced by Serial Pictures, the clip somehow fit its multiple sets, wardrobe changes and intricate dance routines into one day of shooting August 8 in Los Angeles.

Considering potential reactions to the sinister shuffle of "The Way We Used To Do" being translated into a panoramic soul-selling dance trip, Homme says: "It's our way of paying tribute to Cab Calloway and the film 'Hellzapoppin''. I fully realize that may be a little more than some are open to, and that's perfectly fine with me. There's the door. If some of the more close-minded are gently pruned, that just leaves more room on the dance floor for the open-minded ones to get loose. That's been the spirit of QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE and the space we've worked to create from day one."

"The Way You Used To Do" is taken from QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE's seventh album, "Villains", which will be released on August 25 via Matador Records.

Homme said: "The title 'Villains' isn't a political statement. It has nothing to do with Trump or any of that shit. It's simply 1) a word that looks fantastic and 2) a comment on the three versions of every scenario: yours, mine and what actually happened… Everyone needs someone or something to rail against — their villain — same as it ever was. You can't control that. The only thing you can really control is when you let go."

With their latest masterpiece, EPICA set new standards. 2016's "The Holographic Principle" is the most epochal, multi-layered, courageous and successful record of the band, reaching top 10 chart position entries in the German, Dutch and Swiss album charts. Accordingly, all the tracks written for the album process are high quality, but not all songs have been put on the album. "This is only based on the fact that the record should not exceed 76 minutes," explains guitarist/vocalist Mark Jansen. Since the band didn't like the idea of a double CD, they finally decided to release an EP with six brand-new numbers, which were created during the creative phase of "The Holographic Principle". "The Solace System" EP will be released on September 1 via Nuclear Blast.

Portugal-based dark metal pioneers, Moonspell, are back with a brand new album, 1755. Set to be released on November 3rd via Napalm Records, this record will outclass all standards you have ever heard from Moonspell before.

From the first second the conceptual dramaturgy Moonspell have created feels like a detonation of the mind. 1755 is more than just the band's new magnum opus: It's the musical version of the year of horror where a giant earthquake wrecked their home Lisbon. Naturally this album comes and is sung in Portuguese. The album, produced by Tue Madsen (Meshuggah, The Haunted, Dark Tranquility, Dir En Grey, Die Apokalyptischen Reiter) also features Paulo Bragança, supplying a hauntingly voice of a Fado fallen angel who is a big part of the Portuguese culture. His fascinating vocals are featured in "In Tremor Dei" (eng.: "Fear Of God").

"Until Falls The Rain", the new video from Finnish cinemascope metallers CRIMFALL, can be seen below. The clip was directed by Olli Hakkinen and shot by Max Smeds. The song is taken from the band's upcoming album, "Amain", which will be released on August 25 via Metal Blade Records.

CRIMFALL comments: "Before we unleash the third storm that is 'Amain', we present you our very first music video. 'Until Falls The Rain' is the crushing conclusion for the album, last simmering truths are laid low, throats bared against the unforgiving fall. The final concert of the North American leg of METALLICA's "WorldWired" tour — which took place earlier tonight (Wednesday, August 16) at Commonwealth Stadium in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada — can be streamed live below.

The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame band is touring in support of its tenth studio album, "Hardwired... To Self-Destruct", which came out last November.

METALLICA's current show is the band's largest production ever. Using 48 trucks, the stage takes three days to set up, equipped with lasers, balloons, more than 350,000 total watts of audio and a circular catwalk with a mini stage that the band plays "Seek And Destroy" on, aiming to recreate the garage atmosphere where it was written. According to Rolling Stone, the whole stage features 83 laser fixtures, which took 640 hours to program, and nearly 40,000 speakers for each production. Each night, they generate 2.5 megawatts of power — enough to power 1,800 homes for a month.

METALLICA frontman James Hetfield told the Nerdist podcast that the band would cap its live schedule starting in 2017 at around fifty shows a year. He explained: "My body has told me to tell these guys that fifty shows a year is kind of what we can do, so make the best of those. And I think we all kind of agree in that. But fifty shows a year, that's pretty good. My body can handle that. Body, mind and spirit all need to kind of revitalize themselves at home, and days off for voices — things like that — so fifty shows a year, it goes pretty quick, I'm sure."

SLAYER's latest album, "Repentless", was released on September 11, 2015 via Nuclear Blast. The follow-up to 2009's critically acclaimed, Grammy-nominated "World Painted Blood" was produced by Terry Date, who has previously worked with PANTERA, DEFTONES and SOUNDGARDEN. The artwork was created by Brazilian artist Marcelo Vasco in collaboration with Tom Araya and Kerry King.

"Repentless" debuted at No. 4 on The Billboard 200, having shifted 50,000 equivalent album units in the week ending September 17, 2015.

The official trailer for "Renaissance In Extremis", the sixth full-length album from London's AKERCOCKE, can be seen below. Due on August 25 via Peaceville Records, the disc was mixed by legendary studio guru Neil Kernon (NILE, DEICIDE) and mastered by Alan Douches (DEATH, MISFITS, CRO-MAGS) at West West Side Music.

On returning to the Peaceville family, founding member and drummer David Gray comments: "AKERCOCKE are proud and privileged to be returning to Peaceville Records this year for our new album, our first release for ten years.

"Peaceville unleashed the band on the wider metal community and were responsible for laying the foundations of our two-decade history. Therefore, it is wholly appropriate that they assist us once again in our mission to pursue quality progressive death metal to the masses!"

A comprehensive reinvention and expansion of the band's multifarious sound, "Renaissance In Extremis" delivers euphoric force and mind-boggling weirdness. There are scything thrash and death metal riffs in abundance, plus warped but elegant melodies and clouds of ugly dissonance; moments of unsettling calm and quiet. AKERCOCKE has revealed the first track, titled "Disappear", from the highly anticipated opus. Towering above the vast majority of nefarious contemporary noisemakers, AKERCOCKE erupted across the consciousness of the U.K. metal scene in the late '90s, wielding a fiendishly inventive blend of death, black and progressive metal. Their distinctive, smartly-dressed demeanour and eloquent preoccupation with all things dark and Satanic marked them out both as ferociously individual artists and enlightened students of the pitch-black sonic code. Immediately embraced by the British faithful upon the release of debut album, "Rape Of The Bastard Nazarene", AKERCOCKE spent the following decade leading the creative charge for their entire native scene.

AKERCOCKE received widespread acclaim for follow-up album, "The Goat of Mendes" (Peaceville, 2001) and despite enjoying furious momentum over the following years, the release of fifth album, "Antichrist", in 2007 signalled the end of the first chapter of the AKERCOCKE story, when the band retreated into the shadows and remained dormant for the best part of a decade.

Fast forward to 2017 and AKERCOCKE's ongoing return to active service has reached its first invigorating climax. 2016 saw Mendonca reconvening with Gray and returning original second guitarist Paul Scanlan to reignite the flames that first drove this band to deftly redefine an entire genre. This was deftly followed by a triumphant live return at Bloodstock festival in August 2016.

Advancing the September release of Arkaik's fifth full-length Nemethia, the brutal tech-death metal outfit has released an official video for the record's "Futile State".

A continuation on the conceptual saga of Arkaik's two previous releases, on Nemethia the journey of Cyrix expands into new landscapes, as does the band's technical prowess and creativity. Arkaik has been hard at work creating a series of wildly psychedelic concept albums revolving around a protagonist named Cyrix, a disillusioned character in a dystopian society. Cyrix' latest journey introduces new characters and brings you into a world of dark occultists, magical allies, and hidden forces. From resurrecting ancient goddesses to cracking the codes of reality and activating hyper dimensional stargates, the chronicle of Cyrix continues.

Produced and directed by Nikko DeLuna, with effects by Trevor "No One" Turner and makeup by Sherra Dixon and Jenn Jones, the new "Futile State" video visually delivers some of the album's sci-fi influence.

Arkaik vocalist Jared Christianson issues of the "Futile State" visual accompaniment, "The song is about the feeling of existential futility and the catharsis it can create. The video is a blend of ideas. I took inspiration from Plato's Allegory Of The Cave, mixed with neo-shamanism and put a transhumanist spin on it. It's been nearly 12 years to see Canker's third album finally released, but it's been worth the wait. One of Spain's most legendary death metal bands, Canker have released a lyric video for the title track off their new album. Containing ten songs, Earthquake is an original blend of classic death metal with slight thrash elements and unexpected surprises which all set this band apart of the norms and typical patterns of the genre. “Whale Hunt”:

Motograter have released the official music video for their latest single "Dorian" directed and produced by Christopher Davis (Human Twelve) who has also produced videos for bands like Dope and Angelspit. The track is taken from their sophomore album Desolation released on Friday, August 11th via EMP Label Group. "Dorian" has been continuously moving up the Billboard Mainstream Rock Indicator Chart, reaching #24 this week.

The music video for "Dorian" was recently filmed at the famous Ohio State Reformatory. The historic prison was built between 1886 and 1910 and remained in operation until 1990, when a United States Federal Court ruling (the ‘Boyd Consent Decree’) ordered the facility to be closed. While this facility was used in a number of films, TV shows and music videos, it was made famous by the film The Shawshank Redemption (1994) when it was used for the majority of the movie.

Motograter front man James Legion states, “This song is the first real single the band has released in many years. For it to be doing so well is really awesome. It was very interesting and fun to get to shoot the video for it in the Ohio State Reformatory. That place has so much character. We are very thankful to the staff for letting us stay all night and work.”

Motograter recently traveled to Mansfield Ohio to perform Ink In The Clink 2017, on the prison grounds, alongside Three Days Grace, Theory of a Dead Man, Gemini Syndrome, Starset, 10 Years, 40 Below Summer and many more. During the festival the band met up WITH Davis and shot the video for “Dorian” inside the creepy prison.

The band is set to embark on a massive U.S. tour this fall in support of their latest release.

Sweden’s Sparzanza will release their new album, Announcing The End, on October 13th. The new song “Vindication” is available for streaming below.

Formed in 1996, Sparzanza have, over the course of two decades and seven albums, built a formidable fanbase, brought together by the band’s dark, heavy and melodic metal, driven by huge guitars and unforgettable hooks.

Announcing The End captures the sound of a band at the height of their powers. From the ball-breaking title song, through the melodic charge of “One Last Breath” onto the powerful first single “Vindication”, Announcing The End is very much a statement of intent from a band with plenty of road miles under their belt. With appearances at a number of well-known European festivals, including Sweden Rock and Sauna Open Air, as well as numerous European tours.

“We left for Spain and worked on the album under a strict work schedule,” Johan Carlsson (bass) comments. “Instead of piecing all the ideas afterwards, we wrote everything together. It was 9 to 5 every day and it felt like a competition to produce. We met in the morning and divided into groups which then worked on writing together. In the evening, we would meet up and go through everything together. The next day we would switch groups and it continued so for the whole week. Very relaxed and unbelievably creative.”

”To do something completely new with Announcing The End was a real challenge,” adds drummer Anders Åberg. “Horrifying but at the same time enormously inspiring. To speed up a process that took forever to only a week really turns up the pressure to deliver. For our fans and ourselves. To push yourself daily with a clear-cut deadline was extremely cool and created new ideas both expected and unexpected.”

Italian symphonic metal band, Secret Rule, have inked a deal with Pride & Joy Music for their new album, The Key To The World, to be released on November 10th. Henrik Klingenberg (Sonata Arctica) and two more guests, Henning Basse (Firewind, MaYan) and Ailyn Giménez (ex-Sirenia), also appear on this third release.

The album was mixed and mastered by Tue Madsen at Antfarm Studio in Denmark. Fabio D’amore (Serenity) handled the pre-production and Simona Speedy Saccoccia took care of the artwork.

Music videos for the tracks “Twin Flames”, “The Song Of The Universe” and “Imaginary World” featuring all three guests will be released in advance to the album.

French heavy metal outfit, Lonewolf, will release their new album, Raised On Meta,l on September 22nd via Massacre Records. The band’s ninth studio album was mixed and mastered by Powerwolf guitarist Charles Greywolf and comes with a killer artwork created by Peter Sallai (Mortpaintgraphics), the vocalist/bassist of Bornholm.

Iron Bonehead Productions has set November 3rd as the international release date for Kawir's seventh album, Exilasmos, on CD, vinyl LP, and cassette tape formats.

Since 1993, Kawir have been one of the unsung pillars of the classic Greek black metal sound. While the names Rotting Christ, Varathron, and Necromantia are incredibly important to that style's foundation, it was Kawir who kept the faith during the '90s and into the new millennium. In 1994, the then-young band released two pivotal 7"s, Eumenides and a split with Japan's Sigh - on the pivotal Cacophonous Records, no less - and then followed those up in 1996 with the To Cavirs MLP, which is the first truly pagan-oriented record to hail from the Greek black metal scene. With that mini-album, Kawir set about on a Hellenistic crusade to celebrate their native gods and mythology in their lyrics and sartorial presentation. From the late '90s onward, the band continued to remain prolific, perpetually committed to fine-tuning their idiosyncratic craft, culminating in underground classics Arai (2005) and Ophiolatreia (2008). Although 2012's Ισόθεος featured a cross-continental lineup, the album further solidified Kawir's status as unique icons in the black metal underground.

Then, just last year, Iron Bonehead released the massively acclaimed Father Sun Mother Moon, which saw Kawir return to an all-Greek lineup and recast their classic sound in a whole new light, and now they continue that forward momentum with the fiery Exilasmos. If the 64-minute Father Sun Mother Moon was the sound of Kawir indulging their most epic expanses - always with power and poignancy, it must be said - then the 42-minute Exilasmos is its punchier and more restless counterpart. Across its six characteristically cascading tracks, Kawir take a decidedly darker and more aggressive turn, racing into the fray in a manner most mid '90s (or To Cavirs, as it were) but never losing the inherently heroic aspect so crucial - and so engaging, after all these years - to their Hellenic sound. Supplementing that dark heroism is the addition of a fulltime keyboardist in Aristomache, who lends mystical light and shade to the band's surge 'n' swell. Further coloring the windswept wildness of Exilasmos are an endless supply of dramatic solos from guitarists Melanaegis and founder Therthonax.

But, as ever with Kawir, the sonic portrait they paint is imbued with a deep lyricism hailing the Greek pantheon. In the case of Exilasmos, the record is conceptually about the tragic dynasties of the house of Lavdakides (Oedipus Tyrannus) and the house of Atreus. Both dynasties nearly exterminated themselves, and all these violent and inhuman acts brought forth the wrath of Zeus and the curses were consequently laid upon the whole bloodline. “Exilasmos" in Ancient Hellenic Language means calming down the gods' wrath, so it perfectly describes the tragic events featured in the namesake album.

Recorded at Esoteron Studio in Athens and mixed and mastered by Esoteric's Greg Chandler at Priory Studio, Exilasmos is yet another gleaming jewel in the rich Kawir canon. For this album, the band dug deep to try to express the emotional struggle of the rock and roll life. They explain: "The constant emotional expenditure that an artist must do in order to always be creating and the ups and downs of a career in music tends to lead to substance abuse and suicides. Unfortunately, the world has lost way too many music legends this way. Overall, this album is definitely darker and heavier than most of the past Hinder albums. However, for our old school fans, it also has a few songs that have that signature 'Hinder' sound."
