PRIME CREATION Featuring Former MORIFADE Members Release “War Is Coming” Music Video

PRIME CREATION Featuring Former MORIFADE Members Release “War Is Coming” Music Video

Swedish metal act, Prime Creation, have released a video for “War Is Coming”. The song is taken from their debut album, released a couple of months ago on Scandinavia’s premiere metal/rock label, Mighty Music. The video was recorded and produced by Rasmus Arnell.

The band says: "War is coming actually has nothing at all to do with the kind of war that we first may think of, it's about the inner war or struggle that we all feel from time to time, more or less. It's about people with psychological problems."

Prime Creation was formed in early-2015 and consists of skilled and experienced musicians, delivering modern hard-driving metal. The band rose from the ashes of the succesful power metal band Morifade and consists of ex-members Robin Arnell on lead guitar, Mathias Kamijo on rhythm guitar, Henrik Weimedal on bass guitar and Kim Arnell on drums.

During the songwriting the band was frantically searching for a vocalist and after a couple of months they came in contact with Esa Englund and the last piece of the puzzle was laid. This was when the hard work begun, Prime Creation finished all the songs and at the end of the year they started to record the first song.

Tracklisting:

“Years Of Crossness”
“War Is Coming”
“Born In Fear”
“27”
“In The Red”
“Friend Of Trash”
“Scream”
“Crown Of Creation”

MEMORIAM - The Hellfire Demos III Out Now

MEMORIAM - The Hellfire Demos III Out Now

Today, old school death metallers Memoriam unleash their brand new 7" vinyl single that completes their infernal Hellfire Trilogy. The single is called The Hellfire Demos III, and includes the track “The Captive”. Being available on yellow, clear/blue splatter, pink white and black vinyl, the EP can be ordered here.

The band states: "This track was never meant for release, it was recorded early on at Hellfire studios purely for ourselves. Sacrilege, and particularly Tam their vocalist was the reason Karl wanted to be a vocalist himself. If Sacrilege had not existed there would also be no Bolt Thrower as they were the reason Baz BT formed Bolt Thrower, to create a band in the same vein. Karl wanted to do some recording with Tam. She lives close to the Hellfire studio so it was just a case of Frank asking his band mate if she would sing on a demo with us. She said yes, we recorded it alongside the other demos then that was it, another tick on Karl's bucket list! We are getting pretty far into the creation of album #2 as we speak. We went through some of our ideas we have stored and came across this demo track, played it again and thought this was just too good to not release! So here we have the final part of the Hellfire demos. We make no apologies for releasing it on its own on a limited vinyl single. It deserves its own place. It closes the door now on the first year of our journey that we have shared with you all the way from the demos to "For The Fallen". Enjoy!"

Memoriam was primarily developed to fill the void that was left following the tragic death of Martin "Kiddie" Kearns, the drummer from Bolt Thrower, back in September 2015. Bolt Thrower subsequently placed all activity on hold for the foreseeable future which gave Karl Willetts an opportunity to develop a new project with friends that had expressed interest in forming a band for some time. Memoriam are an old-school death metal band, maintaining the high standards set by their previous bands, focusing on the themes of death, loss and war. Initially the band members got together to play covers of songs that had influenced them throughout their careers within the death metal scene, however it soon became apparent that the new songs that they created were of a superior standard.

MARILYN MANSON Pays Tribute To Late Father: 'He Taught Me How To Be A Man'

MARILYN MANSON Pays Tribute To Late Father: 'He Taught Me How To Be A Man'

Marilyn Manson has confirmed the passing of his father, Hugh Warner. Manson, whose real name is Brian Warner, revealed the news Friday (July 7) on his social media accounts, where he posted a childhood photo of himself with his dad.

In an accompanying note, Manson wrote: "Today I lost my father, Hugh Warner. He taught me how to be a man, a fighter and a survivor. He taught me how to shoot a gun. How to drive. How to lead. He will always be the best dad in the world. Somehow and somewhere, I know he is with my mom now. I will keep my promise and never let you down. I miss and love you, dad."

Last month, Manson honored his dad on Father's Day by posting a photo from their 2015 shoot with Paper magazine on Twitter. He wrote at the time: "For Hugh so loved the world he made me. Happy Father's Day"

Manson's mother, Barbara Warner, died in 2014. At the time, he eulogized her as "the first and greatest believer in me."

Marilyn Manson's new album, "Heaven Upside Down", is tentatively due later in the year.

SAXON: Trailer For 'The Solid Book Of Rock' 14-Disc Box Set

SAXON: Trailer For 'The Solid Book Of Rock' 14-Disc Box Set

British heavy metal legends SAXON will release "The Solid Book Of Rock" on August 4. The set comprises fourteen discs in total — not only all nine of SAXON's studio albums from 1991 to 2009 but eight bonus tracks and two bonus CDs — "Classics Re-Recorded", originally issued with the initial pressings of "Killing Ground", and "Lionheart - Rough Studio Mix", originally issued on the 2006 limited edition. This metal-tastic book set also contains three bonus DVDs — the limited-edition DVDs originally released with "Lionheart", "The Inner Sanctum" and "Into The Labyrinth". All this, packaged in a sumptuous 24-page, 12" x 12" booklet with all the lyrics and credits, plus photos with fabulous brand-new cover painting by Paul R. Gregory.

A trailer for "The Solid Book Of Rock" is available below. An exclusive limited-edition containing a print signed by SAXON singer Biff Byford will also be available from Amazon.

Byford says: "It's worth getting just for the artwork. A great piece of SAXON history, and, don't forget, I get to play King Arthur. I didn't get the Oscar that year or anything else for that matter."

"The Solid Book Of Rock" comprises SAXON's studio albums 1991-2009 — that's a massive nine original albums plus two bonus CDs and three bonus DVDs.

The albums are: * Solid Ball Of Rock* Forever Free* Dogs Of War* Unleash The Beast* Metalhead* Killing Ground* Lionheart* The Inner Sanctum* Into The Labyrinth SAXON released its self-titled debut in 1979, followed by the classic "Wheels of Steel" the following year, which catapulted the band to fame. The effort reached No. 5 in the U.K. chart and containing the still-popular title track and "747 (Strangers In The Night)". They established themselves as one of the icons of the New Wave Of British Heavy Metal throughout the '80s. Later, the band tried to attack the U.S. market, taking a more melodic direction with the release of "Destiny" in 1988, before going back to their original sound with 1991's "Solid Balls Of Rock", reaffirming their influence on the European metal scene. They continued touring and recording, enjoying steady success. SAXON saw album sales topping fifteen million worldwide, including eight U.K. Top 40 albums across their career. They are considered a seminal NWOBHM act and are known to have inspired the likes of METALLICA, MEGADETH and PANTERA. SAXON's new album, "Thunderbolt", is tentatively due in January 2018. The follow-up to 2015's "Battering Ram" is once again being recorded with British producer Andy Sneap, who has previously worked with JUDAS PRIEST, MEGADETH, EXODUS and TESTAMENT.

After putting out the live double CD last year, fans were asking for a visual output, so finally, in December 2016, the show in Brno, Czech Republic was recorded for that purpose. The official teaser for "Live – Back To The Roots - Accepted!" is available below.

Dirkschneider spent the last year and a half touring under the DIRKSCHNEIDER banner, performing classic ACCEPT songs for the last time. The trek, which was originally supposed to conclude with the band's North American run in January/February, has now been extended through early 2018.

In a message on the DIRKSCHNEIDER Facebook page, Udo explained his decision to continue touring as DIRKSCHNEIDER, saying: "Originally it was our plan to go back to touring with U.D.O. in 2017. But we have received an incredible number of emails and letters from fans begging us to continue with DIRKSCHNEIDER, and as there are still so many (ACCEPT) songs left to be sung, we have decided to bow to your demands!

"During the last tours with DIRKSCHNEIDER, the audience had a lot of fun, and we as a band also had the time of our lives on stage. In fact, a whole lot of people in countries all over the world have been knocked out by these shows. Just check out all the media (especially from the U.S., where we have just finished a five-week tour) and you will read the caption 'tour of the year' multiple times…

"We are thrilled by the idea of continuing and we are really looking forward to seeing you all again live on tour!

"Oh, we nearly forgot to tell you about possibly the most important point of all: From October 2017 on, DIRKSCHNEIDER will tour with an almost completely NEW setlist. Of course, it will still contain only ACCEPT hits, but this time with many different songs compared to the last tours."

DIRKSCHNEIDER released a live album called "Live - Back To The Roots" in October via AFM Records. The effort, which was recorded on April 2, 2016 at Kaminwerk in Memmingen, Germany, was made available as two-CD digipak and gatefold three-vinyl in four different colors (black, gold, silver and clear).

In addition to Udo, the DIRKSCHNEIDER band on the recent tours included his son Sven Dirkschneider on drums, Fitty Wienhold on bass, Andrey Smirnov on guitar and Kasperi Heikkinen on guitar. Kasperi has since left the group and was replaced by Bill Hudson.

Watch MORBID ANGEL's New Lineup Perform In Austin

Watch MORBID ANGEL's New Lineup Perform In Austin

Fan-filmed video footage of MORBID ANGEL's entire June 24 concert at at Come And Take It Live in (Grizzly Hall) in Austin, Texas can be seen below.

MORBID ANGEL played a brand new song, "Warped", live for the first time on May 23 at the opening show of the band's North American tour at The Beacham in Orlando, Florida.

In a recent interview with Orlando Weekly, MORBID ANGEL's current frontman, Steve Tucker, who is back for his third spell with the group, was asked if the band's latest trek — which ended on June 27 in New Orleans — would see the band performing any songs from its recently completed new studio album. "Probably one or two new songs; the album's almost done, but we don't want to put out too much with YouTube putting it up the next day," Tucker explained. "The setlist will be different, too — in the past, we've covered all of MORBID ANGEL's discography, but this time we went with the discography between Trey [Azagthoth, guitar] and I. I'm really excited about the fact that every song we play is a song I was a part of. There are some MORBID ANGEL classics that aren't there, but we made our own classics."

MORBID ANGEL's new disc was recorded at Mana Recording in St. Petersburg, Florida with producer — and former MORBID ANGEL guitarist — Erik Rutan. Tentatively due in the fall via UDR Music, the LP will mark the band's first release with drummer Scott Fuller (ANNIHILATED, ex-ABYSMAL DAWN) who joined MORBID ANGEL last year following the departure of Tim Yeung. It will also be MORBID ANGEL's first album to feature Tucker since 2003's "Heretic".

Tucker told "The Metal Magdalene With Jet" show about MORBID ANGEL's approach on the upcoming album: "It was really just about writing music — it was just about writing a MORBID ANGEL album. Nobody said, 'Hey, we wanna go in this direction,' nobody said anything. I mean, there's obvious things there. I've said it before — I'm a death metal guy, so, for me, it's gonna be a death metal album; if I'm on it, it's death metal. So it was just about making a MORBID ANGEL album. It was really about coming in with something new, something fresh, but yet it still being MORBID ANGEL. Really, honestly, we didn't approach this any differently than any of the other albums I was involved in except for maybe [1998's] 'Formulas Fatal To The Flesh', which 'Formulas', Trey wrote all the music, all the lyrics and things like that. But this was done more similar to maybe [2000's] 'Gateways To Annihilation', where everybody had their contribution. Trey wrote a bunch of songs, I wrote songs, Scotty contributed some ideas. There was a lot of back-and-forth. In the end, it has to become a MORBID ANGEL song. And at this point, I feel that it's very much a MORBID ANGEL album."

MORBID ANGEL in January announced the addition of Dan Vadim Von (guitarist/frontman of the American death metal band VADIMVON) to the band's lineup on second guitar. He joined the group as the replacement for Norwegian guitarist Destructhor (a.k.a. Thor Anders Myhren), who left the band a year and a half ago.

MORBID ANGEL's first U.S. tour of 2017 features support from SUFFOCATION, REVOCATION and WITHERED.

Former MORBID ANGEL frontman David Vincent recently joined forces with several other musicians — including Yeung (drums) — to perform classic MORBID ANGEL songs under the I AM MORBID banner.

MORBID ANGEL's controversial 2011 album, "Illud Divinum Insanus", marked the group's first CD to feature Vincent since "Domination".

MEGADETH

MEGADETH's Dave Mustaine Says These are the Four Best Rhythm Guitarists in the World

Sick of hearing about Dave Mustaine today yet? Well, tough shit! The dude has a tour to promote, which means he’s giving lots of interviews, which means he has plenty of opportunities to say divisive shit.

Shit like this quote from a new interview with Rock Cellar:

“I think James [Hetfield] is one of the best rhythm guitar players in the world. As far as rhythm guitar players are concerned, there’s James, there’s me, there’s Malcolm Young and there’s Rudolph Schenker. There’s no one else that touches the four of us. We’re the fantastic four.”

STONE SOUR: 360-Degree Performance Video For 'Somebody Stole My Eyes'

STONE SOUR: 360-Degree Performance Video For 'Somebody Stole My Eyes'

STONE SOUR has released a 360-degree performance video for the song "Somebody Stole My Eyes", featured on the band's new album, "Hydrograd". The clip was filmed at Sphere Studios in North Hollywood, California and can be seen below.

"Hydrograd" was released on June 30 via Roadrunner Records. The disc was recorded at Sphere Studios with producer Jay Ruston, who has previously worked with ANTHRAX and STEEL PANTHER. The band tracked the album live in the studio, cutting a total of 18 songs from which 15 made the CD.

STONE SOUR frontman Corey Taylor confirmed in an interview with Billboard that there will be two Knotfests this year — one in Mexico and one in California, again combined with Ozzfest — but that he'll be there with STONE SOUR and not SLIPKNOT.

The singer said it's important for Knotfest to take place without its namesake band headlining, explaining: "I think in a lot of ways your festival has to live past you, or it's not gonna live at all... That's why we put so much work into it to begin with, is to really make sure that it was stable and it was strong and the foundation was there."

A Knotfest documentary — "Day Of The Gusano", filmed last year in Mexico — will premiere on September 6 in theaters for a special one-night-only screening.

PARADISE LOST new album

PARADISE LOST new album

Want to know everything about the brand new Paradise Lost album? Well, read on…

The Gothic doom icons will release their fifteenth studio album, Medusa, on September 1 through Nuclear Blast. Hear a teaser of lead track Longest Winter below.

Having made steps back towards their heavier-than-heavy roots on recent albums, guitarist Gregor Mackintosh described Medusa as sounding, “Between Gothic and Shades Of God. The last song we wrote for [2015’s] The Plague Within was Beneath Broken Earth. It’s a really slow doom metal song and we really liked how it turned out so we thought it would be great to do more of that on the new record. It is a doom metal album I’d say, but each song took its own twists and turns. There’s lots of different harmony lines and Hammond organs going on there.”

“The new album is us coming full circle in a way,” agrees vocalist Nick Holmes. “We started the band doing this kind of music, albeit more primitively, and it’s like putting on another jacket. The old jacket still fits!” The album was recorded at Orgone Studios in Woburn with The Plague Within producer Jaime Gomez Arrelano, and marks their first album with new drummer Waltteri Väyrynen (Abhorrence, Vallenfyre), who replaced Adrian Erlandsson in 2016.

Along with a return to doomier waters, Medusa sees Nick dig back into his gruff vocals that characterised early albums. “[Joining Swedish supergroup] Bloodbath was kind of a baptism, because obviously it’s relentless singing in a death metal band,” he explains. “But that helped me find my voice again, and there’s more space on PL songs for me to do long screams. A heavy riff is going to be way heavier if you growl over it, so it mightily opens doors for the band.”

Discussing the songs, Nick revealed some of the themes of the album: “I’m still singing about the same things I’ve always sung about, but I see them from a different perspective. Religion is something that’s always fascinated me since I was old enough to talk, because the concept of it is insane and makes no sense to me.”

He describes Gods Of Ancient as being about the practice of worshipping the sun for a good harvest. “Pagan belief systems are easily mocked. But to me, it makes way more sense believing in the sun than in something you’ve never seen or someone has only told you about!”

“Fearless Sky is about putting your faith in personal possessions. From a point of hindsight, I look back on people I was at school with who only aspired to see what they could get and what postcode they’d have. And I think all these superficial things aren’t important in the grand scheme of things, and it’s a shame most humans think these things will make their life better.”

Meanwhile, Longest Winter was inspired by an article about animal and plant life returning to the radioactive exclusion zone surrounding Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant. “Trees grew and animals came back in abundance, which is quite a sweet thing,” he explains. “But then there are hunting parties going in. They go in for x amount of time before radiation sickness kicks in to hunt the animals, then they leave again. I thought, that is such a human thing. The place was fucked by humans in the first place, and then we go in to do it again!”

As for the mythical gorgon Medusa who adorns the album cover, it relates back to Nick’s views on religion. “It’s different generations trying to grasp the same thing, all thinking they’ve grasped it more and no one ever has! It’s funny. We’re civilised with technology, but we still don’t know what the fuck’s going on and we’re all going to die. No one gets any closer to it.”

SEVEN SPIRES Streaming New Song “Serenity”

SEVEN SPIRES Streaming New Song “Serenity”

American symphonic metal force, Seven Spires, are streaming the new song “Serenity”, featured on their upcoming concept album, Solveig. With the track, the band deliver a modern melodic death cocktail accentuated with subtle symphonic arrangements.

"We wanted to write something moshable, straightforward, and catchy," says vocalist Adrienne Cowan, "but more importantly, “Serenity” is a song about the fear of pain, and the lengths people will go to escape it."

With its new theatrical piece, Solveig, Seven Spires is about to pull off a major coup in the ever-growing symphonic metal scene. This debut album, which is to be released worldwide on August 4th via SAOL, indeed succeeds in establishing as of now the four-piece orchestra as an essential figure of tomorrow's extreme soundscape.

Fans can get their hands on special versions of the album with all sorts of exclusive perks by taking part in the Seven Spires' Go Fund Me campaign.

The wide stylistic range embraced by Seven Spires' art of musical storytelling relentlessly attests of the outstanding abilities of the band's members. Going astray from melancholic power metal to melodic death metal with fierce forays into black metal, the quartet's versatility never fails to make a deep impression on the listener. Their signature blend of melody, theatrics and high-caliber musicianship is tastefully bittersweet, chaotic at times and comforting at others.

Solveig tells the story of a lost soul and his journey through a Demon's sunless neo-victorian underworld. Despite small glimmers of hope, it is a grim tale with a heavy focus on escapism, death and decadence. The love for Romantic composers and epic film scores the four young graduates/students of the prestigious Berklee College of Music have shows in their ambitious and emotionally moving dramatic vision.

Frontwoman Adrienne Cowan leads the band with an iron will and a golden voice. She employs a combination of her classical training and self-taught extreme vocal techniques to "deliver every bit of recorded promise live". Therefore, the strict operatic singing that is often found in the symphonic corner of metal is more of a spice than a staple for Seven Spires.

The band ventured to Gate Studios in Wolfsburg, Germany to put the finishing touches to Solveig in the company of the illustrious Sascha Paeth (Avantasia, Kamelot, Rhapsody), who stated that Seven Spires is "one of the few new real personalities in metal". As a matter of fact, a band that has been sharing the stage with big names such as Arch Enemy, Amaranthe and Apocalyptica - among many others - in its first three years of existence has to be taken seriously in the challenging environment of the current metal scene.

EXIT EDEN Feat. AVANTASIA, VISIONS OF ATLANTIS Singers: Video For Cover Of RIHANNA's 'Unfaithful'

EXIT EDEN Feat. AVANTASIA, VISIONS OF ATLANTIS Singers: Video For Cover Of RIHANNA's 'Unfaithful'

EXIT EDEN, the all-female four-piece ensemble featuring Amanda Somerville, Clémentine Delauney, Marina La Torraca and Anna Brunner, has released a video for its cover version of the song "Unfaithful", originally recorded by Rihanna.

Why a cover of "Unfaithful"? The band explains: "Rihanna is one of the major artists in pop music these days, always on the edge of being too much, too provocative, too vulgar, yet with a hint of grace of her own. We like that, but felt that it could use a sharper edge and a darker, no-apologies vibe. The accelerated tempo gives it a new energy and spins us into oblivion with the march of banners held high!" EXIT EDEN unites all attributes ascribed to the new millennium: cosmopolitan, self-confident-independent and ready to do their very own thing. Despite their diversity, the four singers blend together personally as superbly as they do vocally with their very diverse vocal tones and techniques that go from opera style to raspy rock. This constellation created extraordinary and powerful ideas and finally became their unique plan to raise EXIT EDEN's very own edge: to show the world that almost every classic song can be transformed into a solid metal-rock song. EXIT EDEN's debut, "Rhapsodies In Black", which will be released on August 4 via Napalm Records (worldwide excluding Germany, Switzerland and Austria, where it will be made available via Starwatch), is home to a colorful mix of international super hits from Rihanna to Madonna, from DEPECHE MODE to Adele, and many more. Still and all, it's miles away from being just a cover album. Who the musicians are: Amanda Somerville: Amanda is a rock-solid authority of the music scene, both as a solo artist and sharing success and the stage with bands like AVANTASIA, EPICA and KAMELOT. Though her American roots are based in pop and rock, she fell in love with the metal scene and made it her home. She has toured with Alice Cooper, Ian Gillan and many more legends with her commanding voice and fronts the projects TRILLIUM and KISKE SOMERVILLE (with HELLOWEEN icon Michael Kiske). All of this, combined with her wide range of experience, grants her a unique edge and a permanent address in the metal world. Anna Brunner: A natural talent, Anna began singing at a very young age. As a daughter of a German father and an American mother, she grew up bilingual and founded her first rock band as a teenager. Due to a music study that lead her through different parts of the world, she garnered a multitude of experience and it became crystal clear to her: music has to rock — and vocals need to be emotional — just like a passionate scream. Marina La Torraca: Hailing from Brazil, Marina was born with rhythm in her blood. As the auspicious frontwoman of several metal bands since the age of 15, her path led her to Europe, where she got to perform with AVANTASIA and to found her up-and-coming band PHANTOM ELITE. Since having studied musical theater in New York, the versatile singer and actress can also be seen internationally in Musical productions, including the upcoming German tour of the Broadway hit "Rent". For her, being close to the crowd is what counts — no problem for her and her natural convincing character. Clémentine Delauney: Clémentine was born near Paris 30 years ago. She has been a multi talent since her childhood days — no matter if she was dancing, playing the piano or singing, she enchanted her audience. At the age of 16, she joined her first metal band. She is currently fronting symphonic metal outfit VISIONS OF ATLANTIS and also worked with SERENITY and MELTED SPACE. Another one of her career highlights is her participation on Kai Hansen's (HELLOWEEN, GAMMA RAY) first solo album, released in 2016. Thus, Clémentine has carved her way into being one of the great performers of the scene.

LOVIATAR Streaming New Track “Ascendant (Stygian Wyrm Part III)”; Lyric Video

LOVIATAR Streaming New Track “Ascendant (Stygian Wyrm Part III)”; Lyric Video

Loviatar (pronounced low-vye-ah-tar) have released another lyric video taken from their self-titled debut full-length, out worldwide on July 28th via Prosthetic Records. The track, "Ascendant", is the final segment of their three-part “Stygian Wyrm” opus and can be heard below.

The band comments on the track,"“Ascendant” is the careening conclusion to the “Stygian Wyrm” trilogy, side A of Loviatar’s self-titled debut LP. Thousands of years of rule cannot erase the remorse of the most intense personal failures. Set to the backdrop of thousands of years of a dystopian nightmare, the regrets of a being as old as time, corrupted by human weakness, lead him to the ultimate sacrifice."

Loviatar's new self-titled album features two monolithic tracks: the aforementioned "Stygian Wyrm" (broken down into three parts for the digital release) and "Blind Goddess Of The Nine Plagues". It will be available on all digital platforms, digipack CD and a limited edition gold and black swirl LP. Pre-orders are available here.

Loviatar borrow equally from the hazy gloom of My Bloody Valentine and the crushing riffs of Isis. Formed in 2010, Loviatar have independently released a series of singles and EPs, and have been tapped to support such acts as Red Fang, Skeletonwitch, and Blood Ceremony. With clearly sung vocals and equal parts somber and soaring, their thunderous elements of doom and post-metal contrast with hypnotic moments of atmospheric introspection to set them apart from others in the genre.

Loviatar tracklisting:

“Nascent (Stygian Wyrm Part I)“
“Discordant (Stygian Wyrm Part II)“
“Ascendant (Stygian Wyrm Part III)“
“Blind Goddess of the Nine Plagues“

ANNEKE VAN GIERSBERGEN Performs IRON MAIDEN And THE GATHERING Classics Solo Acoustic At Tuska Festival 2017

ANNEKE VAN GIERSBERGEN Performs IRON MAIDEN And THE GATHERING Classics Solo Acoustic At Tuska Festival 2017

Vocalist Anneke van Giersbergen (VUUR, ex-The Gathering) performed a solo acoustic show at the Tuska festival 2017 in Helsinki, Finland on June 30th. Fan-filmed video from her set featuring covers of Iron maiden's "Wasted Years" and The Gathering's "Saturnine" is available below.

Anneke van Giersbergen's VUUR has announced the release of their debut album, In This Moment We Are Free - Cities, on October 20th worldwide via InsideOutMusic. Each track on the new album is named after a city that made an impression on Anneke while touring the world, and to celebrate the release they have launched a contest where fans can guess each of the locations featured on the album, and win exclusive and rare merchandise. Head here to take part.

Anneke comments: "Often I have a strong feeling for a city where I perform. It can be anything, sometimes I visualize a city as a man or a character, or sometimes something happened in that city that I want to write about. All 11 songs on the album pay tribute to a certain city and with this contest we'd like to give our fans the opportunity to guess which cities will be featured on the album and win some unique items."

The band also recently announced they will team up with Scar Symmetry for a short co-headline tour in December. Opening act for these exclusive shows will be My Propane.

Anneke had this to say: "We're very excited to present our debut album live and hit the road this December. Scar Symmetry and VUUR will each be playing full sets every night. VUUR's setlist consists of mostly new material, but the audience will get to hear some of my previous outings and collaborations as well."

December
7 - Le Trabendo - Paris, France
8 -Biebob - Vosselaar, Belgium
9 -The Dome - London, England
10 -TivoliVredenburg - Utrecht, Netherlands

As well as this, in May 2018 Residentie Orkest The Hague will host an encounter with Anneke van Giersbergen. Both nights will feature a career-spanning concert with orchestral arrangements. The song selection will even include material from her yet to be released VUUR album.

Anneke comments: "It's such an honor to be backed by these grand classical musicians with strings and brass interpreting my music. The material will be an interesting cross-section of my career. Some reworks will be a contrast from the original and some, for instance like the song 'Travel', will be given a treatment that is a logical extension of the The Gathering's original album arrangement."

May

19 - Paard - The Hague, Netherlands
