DIRTY THRILLS Streaming New Song “Drunk Words”

DIRTY THRILLS Streaming New Song “Drunk Words”

Dirty Thrills are a young, exciting and charismatic London-based hard rock quartet who play bluesy rock 'n' roll with an appealing filthy edge, churning out endless crowd pleasers that make guitar music sound sexy again. With lung-busting, powerful vocals from front man Louis James, killer guitar riffs from Jack Fawdry and solid low-end grooves from the rhythm section of Aaron Plows and Steve Corrigan, each member's wide-ranging influences also combine to produce a pool of sound similar to current rock icons such as Queens Of The Stone Age, The Black Keys and Rival Sons.

Dirty Thrills are set to release their new album, Heavy Living, on September 15th. The album track, “Drunk Words”, is available for streaming below.

Dirty Thrills formed after a drunken night of jamming in a quiet village pub in Wiltshire, but what started out as an inconspicuous session swiftly birthed an ambitious group with the drive and determination to bring the glory days back to the rock scene. Having released and toured a self-titled debut record in 2014, the band recently signed to Frontiers Music Srl and played the UK's Camden Rocks and Wildfire Festivals in June as part of the build-up to their new single, “Law Man”, which Louis James describes as a song "about one man's fight for freedom, only to be struck down by a figure of austerity." They will also be performing at Ramblin' Man Fair in late July, while a full UK tour will follow the mid-September release of their brand new album, Heavy Living, which was recorded at Monnow Valley Studio in Rockfield, Monmouth and produced/mixed by James Loughrey (The Darkness, Skindred, Sumo Cyco).

DAVE MUSTAINE Ranks His Favorite MEGADETH Guitarists

DAVE MUSTAINE Ranks His Favorite MEGADETH Guitarists

Dave Mustaine recently ranked his favorite MEGADETH guitarists in descending order, with the last one being his least favorite.

The MEGADETH leader's list — which he tweeted in late April — does not include the band original second guitarist Greg Handevidt — who was in the band only in 1983 — nor SLAYER's Kerry King, who was only in MEGADETH as a touring guitarist for several gigs in 1984, but it does include Mike Albert, who toured with the group as a temporary replacement for Chris Poland in 1985.

Mustaine's list:

1. Kiko Loureiro

Has been in MEGADETH since early 2015. He performed on the band's latest album, 2016's "Dystopia".

2. Marty Friedman

Was in the band from 1990 to 2000. He performed on 1990's "Rust In Peace", 1992's "Countdown To Extinction", 1994's "Youthanasia", 1995's "Hidden Treasures", 1997's "Cryptic Writings" and 1999's "Risk" albums.

3. Glen Drover

Was in the band from 2004 to 2008. He performed on 2007's "United Abominations" album.

4. Chris Poland

Was in the band from 1984 to 1987, and then again as session musician in 2004. He performed on 1985's "Killing Is My Business... And Business Is Good!", 1986's "Peace Sells... But Who's Buying?" and 2004's "The System Has Failed" albums.

5. Al Pitrelli

Was in the band from 2000 to 2002. He performed on 2001's "The World Needs A Hero" album.

6. Mike Albert

Was in the band as a touring member only, having temporarily replaced Chris Poland on a 1985 tour. He does not appear on any of the MEGADETH albums.

7. Chris Broderick

Was in the band from 2008 to 2014. He can be heard on 2009's "Endgame", 2011's "Th1rt3en" and 2013's "Super Collider" albums.

8. Jeff Young

Was in MEGADETH from 1987 to 1989. He performed on 1988's "So Far, So Good... So What!" album.

A short time after Kiko Loureiro joined MEGADETH, Mustaine praised the Brazilian musician, calling him "definitely the best guitarist we've ever had."

Mustaine's comments echoed those he made about Broderick during the latter's tenure in the band. In a March 2013 tweet made during the making of MEGADETH's "Super Collider" album, Mustaine wrote: "Chris has finished 'Super Collider' ... All I can say is he is without a doubt the best guitarist I've ever played with."

In a 2015 interview with Rolling Stone, Mustaine defended his comments, saying: "You know, that's something that has been kind of a go-to statement for me whenever I get a new player. I usually say, 'Oh, they're great, they're great,' right? Because of the enthusiasm and stuff. It's like, you get a new car, you have that new car smell. But there's a difference between a guy that has talent, and a guy that has talent and personality, or a guy that has talent, personality and a sense of humor. And, you know, I wasn't really close to Chris [Broderick]. Going from Chris to Kiko, we have a bond right now where we laugh and we joke and we do stuff together."

Back in 2009, Mustaine praised Broderick, saying in an online post: "I am going on record and I am saying unequivocally that Chris is THE BEST GUITARIST MEGADETH has ever had. And the real talented musicians in MEGADETH's alumni will agree, he is an absolute monster. I mean, he plays the catalog better than anyone did. Jeff Young never wanted to do Chris Poland's stuff, and so on, and so on, until the last guitarist we had before we disbanded over my arm injury."

Mustaine added: "It's funny, because just when I think [Broderick] can get no more outrageous, or any more thrilling with the guitar solos, he comes up with something really beautiful like Marty Friedman would do (he has Marty pretty well down pat), and then goes into the GIT styles that Jeff Young did, yet, there is still such a freshness to his playing and he is so raw, it's like having a new prize bull. And even though he ain't a such a young bull, he's definitely an old bull like me."

My favorite guitarists in order: Kiko, Marty, Glen, Chris P., Al, Mike Albert, Chris B., and lastly Jeff. New stuff will start soon...? https://t.co/UomZmKzTqU

BELPHEGOR: 'Totenritual' Cover Artwork Unveiled

BELPHEGOR: 'Totenritual' Cover Artwork Unveiled

European diabolical death/black metal kings BELPHEGOR will release their new album, "Totenritual", on September 15 via Nuclear Blast. The disc was recorded at Stage One Studios in Germany and Studio Mischmaschine in Austria and will be mixed by Jason Suecof and mastered by Mark Lewis at Audiohammer Studios in Florida.

The artwork was once again created by Greek artist Seth Siro Anton, who also painted the cover artwork for 2006's "Pestokalypse VI" and 2014's "Conjuring The Dead". Check it out below.

BELPHEGOR singer, guitarist and founder Helmuth Lehner states: "It is the most brutally heavy offering we have consecrated thus far. The drums are precise and very technical with loads of breaks, fills and tempo changes. The bass is like a panzer tank. Also, the rhythm guitars are utterly aggressive and obscure. You don't hear guitars like that anywhere with such a massively low tuning."

The track listing for the CD is as follows:

01. Baphomet02. The Devil's Son03. Swinefever - Regent Of Pigs04. Apophis - Black Dragon05. Totenkult - Exegesis Of Deterioration06. Totenbeschwörer [Instrumental]07. Spell Of Reflection 08. Embracing A Star09. Totenritual

GODSMACK's SULLY ERNA Raises Awareness About Opioid Crisis In America With 'Different Kind Of Tears' Video

GODSMACK's SULLY ERNA Raises Awareness About Opioid Crisis In America With 'Different Kind Of Tears' Video

GODSMACK singer Sully Erna has partnered with the Mark Wahlberg Youth Foundation and Recovery Centers Of America to raise awareness about the growing opioid crisis in America. Sully and the Mark Wahlberg Youth Foundation have teamed up to create a brand new video featuring the song "Different Kind Of Tears", the first single off Erna's current solo album, "Hometown Life", available now via BMG. The raw and powerful video for "Different Kind Of Tears" — a song dedicated to teenage angst from the heartbreaking perspective of a parent — features actual footage from parents who have lost their children to opioid addiction via overdose.

The latest numbers published in The New York Times report that opioid deaths grew to over 60,000 nationwide in 2016 and they are projected to grow even higher in 2017. The Department of Health in Massachusetts alone reported statewide deaths caused by opioid overdoses topped 2,000 in 2016 for the first time, meaning each day an average of nearly six men and women inject, snort or take a drug and never wake up again. This grim discovery inspired Sully to team up with Jim Wahlberg, executive director of the Mark Wahlberg Youth Foundation, who, alongside Recovery Centers Of America, is dedicated to protecting families and raising awareness to stop the opioid crisis one neighborhood at a time. "When Jim Wahlberg approached me to get involved with the Foundation to combat the out-of-control opioid epidemic sweeping this country, it was an easy decision," explains Erna. "Most of the charity work I have done is based around helping out inner-city kids to begin with — since I was that kid myself once — and especially since the opioid problem is now so severe in my hometown of Lawrence, Massachusetts. This song and video echo the feelings of struggle and loss people experience with this addiction and yearns to be heard." "This video addresses one of the most serious health issues facing our society today," explains Wahlberg. "Addiction touches every culture, every family and ultimately every one of us. I'm grateful for the opportunity to work with a very talented musician on this important project." "Our neighbors, our co-workers, our friends and our families are being affected by the addiction epidemic," said Rich Smith, chief marketing officer of Recovery Centers Of America. "With the goal of saving one million lives, we felt that it was a natural partnership for RCA to join Sully Erna and the Mark Wahlberg Youth Foundation to increase awareness of just how prevalent this epidemic has become and the resources for help, like RCA's inpatient and outpatient facilities." According to data from a February 2017 report on opioid overdoses from the CDC, in 2015 there were over 22,000 deaths involving prescription opioids, equivalent to about 62 deaths per day. An increase from approximately 19,000 in 2014, a significant portion of the increase in deaths was due to deaths involving synthetic opioids other than methadone, which includes fentanyl. Law enforcement agencies have reported recent increases in seizures of illegally-made (non-pharmaceutical) fentanyl. It is presumed that a large proportion of the increase in deaths is also due to illegally-made fentanyl. The CDC further discloses thatprescription opioids continue to be involved in more overdose deaths than any other drug, and all the numbers are likely to underestimate the true toll given the large proportion of overdose deaths where the type of drug is not listed on the death certificate. The findings show that two distinct, but interconnected trends are driving America's opioid overdose epidemic: a 15-year increase in deaths from prescription opioid overdoses, and a recent surge in illicit opioid overdoses driven mainly by heroin and illegally made fentanyl, both trends continued in 2015.

Listen To New MARTY FRIEDMAN Song 'Miracle'

Listen To New MARTY FRIEDMAN Song 'Miracle'

"Miracle", a brand new song form former MEGADETH guitarist Marty Friedman, can be streamed below. The track is taken from his upcoming album, "Wall Of Sound", which will be released on August 4 via Prosthetic Records. Produced by Friedman, engineered by Paul Fig (GHOST, RUSH, ALICE IN CHAINS) and mixed by Jens Bogren (KREATOR, OPETH, SEPULTURA), the disc "expands and destroys any conventional notions of instrumental music," according to a press release. Legendary QUEEN producer Mack came on board to handle the mixing on two tracks, "Streetlight" and "For A Friend", which Friedman proclaimed was "an honor for me, for sure."

Friedman said last year about the musical direction of the follow-up to his 2014 album "Inferno": "This time it's even more ambitious than that album was, a bit more dense, and, with any luck, more exciting for those of you who will hear it."

He added: "There will be elevent or twelve songs in total. Sometimes a song you really love doesn't make it to the album because it doesn't fit nicely in the sequencing. Either way, we're pushing sixty minutes, so it won't be a short album."

Marty's new CD was recorded in part at Dave Grohl's Studio 606 in California with engineer Paul Fig (ALICE IN CHAINS, RUSH, DEFTONES) and was previously described by Friedman as "a way more intense version" of its predecessor: "deeper, sadder, happier and more aggressive."

Like "Inferno", Friedman's upcoming album will feature several guests, including prog-thrashers MUTOID MAN, Jørgen Munkeby of the Norwegian avant-garde jazz-metal outfit SHINING and Jinxx of Los Angeles theatrical rockers BLACK VEIL BRIDES.

Regarding how the collaboration with Jinxx came about, Friedman told Guitar World: "I'm a big fan of Jinxx and BLACK VEIL BRIDES. He came to my show in L.A. in 2015. Right after that, I was told that he plays violin. I didn't even know that! Then light bulbs went off. I thought now's the chance to really turn some heads by doing something that's a little bit, well, a lot, unexpected to my fans and his fans."

"Wall Of Sound" track listing:

01. Self Pollution02. Sorrow And Madness (featuring Jinxx of BLACK VEIL BRIDES)03. Streetlight04. Whiteworm05. For A Friend06. Pussy Ghost (featuring Shiv Mehra of DEAFHEAVEN)07. The Blackest Rose08. Something To Fight (featuring Jørgen Munkeby of SHINING)09. The Soldier10. Miracle11. Last Lament

METALLICA's KIRK HAMMETT Drops $2 Million From Asking Price Of San Francisco Home

METALLICA's KIRK HAMMETT Drops $2 Million From Asking Price Of San Francisco Home

According to Curbed San Francisco, METALLICA guitarist Kirk Hammett has dropped two million from the asking price of his house in Sea Cliff, a neighborhood in northwestern San Francisco, California.

Hammett put the home on the market last December for $16 million, but that price came down to $14 million this past February.

Hammett's name apparently does not appear on the deed for the Spanish Colonial-style home, which last sold in 2010 for $8 million. When you adjust for inflation, that itself was roughly double its 2003 sale price of $3.1 million.

The four-bedroom, four-and-a-half-bathroom, three-story house is said to be the fourth most expensive, publicly listed home in the entire city. Back in 2009, Hammett sold a home in Pacific Heights for $7.6 million after owning it for sixteen years. He bought that 8-bedroom, 8.5-bathroom, 10,100-square-foot, four-story mansion in 1993 for a mere $2.56 million.

Asked by Atlanta, Georgia's Rock 100.5 radio station if it ever gets old being a millionaire, Hammett responded: "You know, it just comes with a whole bunch of different problems, bro. And you know what? I'm not very good with saving money. [I spend it on] comic books and movie posters and horror stuff and guitars. I live my life. I just fucking live my life. And I'm generous. The people who are around me experience what I'm experiencing while I'm experiencing it."

METALLICA has just resumed its first North American tour in more than seven years.

The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame band is touring in support of its tenth studio album, "Hardwired... To Self-Destruct", which came out last November, eight years after "Death Magnetic".

POWERFLO Feat. BIOHAZARD, CYPRESS HILL, Ex-FEAR FACTORY Members: 'Where I Stay' Video

POWERFLO Feat. BIOHAZARD, CYPRESS HILL, Ex-FEAR FACTORY Members: 'Where I Stay' Video

"Where I Stay", the new video from POWERFLO — the band featuring BIOHAZARD's Billy Graziadei and former FEAR FACTORY bassist/guitarist Christian Olde Wolbers alongside Sen Dog from CYPRESS HILL, Rogelio Lozano from DOWNSET, and Brazilian drummer Fernando Schaefer — can be seen below. The song is taken from POWERFLO's self-titled debut album, which was released on June 23 via New Damage Records.

Sen Dog stated about the clip: "The video is a look into the car and motorcycle cultures in the Los Angeles area where some of the most recognized low riders, car clubs, motorcycle clubs and tattoo artists have helped bring these worlds to light. The video is a great representation of the city we love and call home."

Melding hip-hop, metal, punk, and rock into a potent offering, POWERFLO draws on its powerhouse resume to collectively smash boundaries. The album is produced by Josh Lynch and Billy Graziadei, mixed by Jay Baumgardner (GODSMACK, PAPA ROACH, HELMET) and mastered by Maor Applebaum (FAITH NO MORE, HALFORD, ADRENALINE MOB) at Maor Applebaum Mastering. The origins of POWERFLO can be traced back over more than two decades as the members of the band would collaborate on numerous occasions. In addition to both CYPRESS HILL and BIOHAZARD appearing on the landmark platinum-selling "Judgment Night" soundtrack, Sen Dog delivered a cameo on BIOHAZARD's "State Of The World Address" in 1993, while Christian both guested on CYPRESS HILL's chart-topping 2000 double-album "Skulls & Bones", which Roy also guested on, and 2001's "Stone Raiders" in addition to performing with the group countless times. In 2015, longtime friend Roy played demos for Sen on a ride to the airport. The music immediately spoke to the rapper and thus POWERFLO was born.

Regarding how the name for the new project came about, Christian told The New American Media: "Basically, Sen Dog was spitting his game on some of the heavy riffs and shit. And he was, like, 'Do you like this?' And Roy, the other guitar player, said, 'Yeah. A power flow. That's good.' So that's where it kind of came from."

POWERFLO's "Victim Of Circumstance" video was directed by Graziadei, who has described the band's musical direction as a cross between IRON MAIDEN, BLACK SABBATH and CYPRESS HILL.

POWERFLO is currently supporting P.O.D. on a West Coast run of dates.

PRO-PAIN Frontman Shares Gruesome Photos Of Brussels-Attack Injuries

PRO-PAIN Frontman Shares Gruesome Photos Of Brussels-Attack Injuries

PRO-PAIN singer Gary Meskil has thanked fans for their support after he was violently robbed in Brussels, Belgium on July 3.

Meskil suffered extensive injuries when he was "struck on the head with an ice pick" before being set upon by a group on individuals. He was admitted to hospital and is currently recovering after the horror attack.

In a statement posted on PRO-PAIN's Facebook page, Meskil wrote: "First off, I'd like to thank you all from the bottom of my heart for your concerns, well wishes and generosity. It really means the world to me and my family. I also would like to express my sincerest gratitude to Dr. Olivier Sanese and his wonderful staff at C.H.U. St-Pierre Hospital for saving my life, and the Brussels Police Department for diligently tracking down suspects.

"To think that just a few days ago, I was basically left to die on the sidewalk and no one helped until paramedics came to the scene. After being pick-pocketed, I absorbed a blow to the head with an ice pick, and then was quickly attacked by several persons. I truly believe my NY Yankees hat was my saving grace. My nose was broken, my glasses were smashed into my eyes, and I sustained some fractures to my face and jaw. I lost a high percentage of blood from severe hemorrhaging, which required multiple transfusions. The uncontrolled bleeding is what nearly killed me, according to the medical staff. They initially intended to keep me in the hospital for an extra 12 days (for surgery and recovery), but I convinced them to discharge me because I didn't appear to suffer any neurological damage and surgery can be done much closer to home.

"Over the next couple of days, I hope to get a second opinion on my jaw. It doesn't close properly, and the fractures around my palate make it impossible to eat any solid food. The jaw injury could be the biggest hurdle to overcome when it comes to returning to the stage. I can deal with the pain in certain areas until I get home, but breaches to the jaw will make it extremely painful to scream sing. I now have to wait 5-10 days for my new passport to arrive, so we will make further decisions around that time frame regarding certain plans. Aside from all of that, I am recovering as quickly as I can, and I look positively toward the future.

"I would also like to say that the incident did not change my opinion of Brussels or its citizens in any way. It could have happened in many places, and I just feel like I was in the wrong place at the wrong time. Belgium will continue to be my home away from home.

"I enclosed a few pics so you can witness a bit of my recovery thus far. I hope to have another update for you shortly. Until then, thanks again for all the love you've given me. I am truly humbled and blessed by all of your support. I hope to be able to give it back onstage soon enough!

"Love and respect, Gary Meskil."

As a result of Meskil's injuries, PRO-PAIN was forced to cancel its concerts in Roeselare, Belgium (July 7) and Osnabrück, Germany (July 8).

Meskil's family has launched a GoFundMe campaign to cover the musician’s medical bills.

The fund is looking to raise a total of $20,000 and, at the time of writing, has reached more than $16,000.

PRO-PAIN was touring in support of its latest album, "Voice Of Rebellion", which was released in June 2015 through SPV/Steamhammer.

Video Premiere: CRADLE OF FILTH's 'Heartbreak And Séance'

Video Premiere: CRADLE OF FILTH's 'Heartbreak And Séance'

The official video for the song "Heartbreak And Séance" from U.K.'s legendary extreme metal icons CRADLE OF FILTH can be seen below. The track is the first single off the band's eagerly awaited twelfth album, "Cryptoriana - The Seductiveness Of Decay", which will be released on September 22 via Nuclear Blast.

Commented CRADLE OF FILTH frontman Dani Filth: "Working with such an artistic director as Artūrs Bērziņš was indeed an honor, as the video shoot was very extensively planned, involving a myriad of extras and crew, make-up girls and set builders, a crow, some well-behaved snakes and a considerable amount of snow, candles, water, trees, naked bodies, lamentable mourners, as well as all being submerged in suitably gothic landscapes and vistas. And the fact that we travelled to Riga in Latvia to film it was also very unique and interesting. The video itself is fantastic, drawing from the darkly erotic imagery of the album artwork and bringing it to richly technicoloured classical life. We had such a blast shooting it, as the accompanying photos attest to..."

Bērziņš is the mastermind behind the "Cryptoriana - The Seductiveness Of Decay" artwork, photography and videography — best known for his defiant neo-symbolism raster graphics and oil paintings; postmodern interpretations of classic myths. He has been proclaimed as a "sacred monster of Latvian postmodernism".

"Cryptoriana - The Seductiveness Of Decay" was recorded at Grindstone Studios, Suffolk, U.K. by the very honorable Scott Atkins, who has been the resident go-to producer for CRADLE OF FILTH for several albums. Dani Filth sat in during the mix, serving up flaming mugs of teas, making the studio couch his own and lending his ears when necessary.

Commented Dani: "The album is deeply infused with Victorian gothic horror and thus the title is a reflection of that. 'Cryptoriana' implies the Victorian's infatuation with the supernatural, the grave and the ghoulish. And the subtitle 'The Seductiveness Of Decay' further cements this attraction to death and the glittering lengthy process of self-annihilation."

CRADLE OF FILTH has also announced its first full-scale U.K. and Ireland tour in years, starting in Belfast, Northern Ireland on October 30.

Added Dani Filth: "We, as a band, are incredibly excited about hitting the U.K. and Ireland for a full run of dates around All Hallows Eve, as playing the band's home country is always great fun and the audiences here are very receptive. And nuts. The dates will be the first in a long line of shows that will extend throughout the rest of the world throughout 2018. We aim to be very prolific on the live front, delivering a show worthy of our fans' exalted expectations and more."

ALICE COOPER To Release 'Welcome To My Nightmare Special Edition' DVD In September

ALICE COOPER To Release 'Welcome To My Nightmare Special Edition' DVD In September

Alice Cooper's "Welcome To My Nightmare Special Edition" DVD will be released on September 8 via Eagle Rock Entertainment. The DVD features the 1975 TV special "Alice Cooper: The Nightmare", now available on DVD for the first time, along with the 1976 "Welcome To My Nightmare" concert film.

Aired on ABC in the U.S., "Alice Cooper: The Nightmare" showcases every song from the legendary "Welcome To My Nightmare" album, which had just been released at the time. With Cooper taking on the role of Steven, and Vincent Price serving as The Spirit Of The Nightmare, this special was a unique introduction to his new album, drawing fans even further into the dark fantasy.

Melding horror, theater, and rock music, Alice Cooper's "Welcome To My Nightmare" was a stage show the likes of which was never seen before. Hits and classics songs like "School's Out", "Only Women Bleed", "Billion Dollar Babies", "Welcome To My Nightmare", "No More Mr. Nice Guy", "I'm Eighteen" and "Department Of Youth" were backdropped with giant spiders, skeletons, a cyclops, and the voice of horror royalty Vincent Price. This groundbreaking theatrical presentation scintillated, horrified, and thrilled audiences, delivering an experience unlike any concerts at the time. He truly brought spectators into a living (or unliving) nightmare, and they loved every minute of it.

The combination of the "Welcome To My Nightmare" concert film and "Alice Cooper: The Nightmare" TV special demonstrates the true genius of Alice Cooper. He is beyond music, and beyond horror — Alice Cooper is an experience, who continues to frighten and thrill audiences to this day.

Among the new tracks are two previously unreleased demos: "Hard For Me", which was later reworked into the album's "Foxy & Free", and an early take of "Pain In The Neck", different in tempo and arrangement from the final version. Also included is the previously digital-only "Anomaly" bonus track "The Return Of Space Bear".

"Anomaly Deluxe" will also feature enhanced album art, a new live poster, and extensive liner notes by rock writer and Ace Frehley historian Ron Albanese (including track-by-track commentary by Frehley).

"Anomaly Deluxe" track listing:

The song "Hard For Me" can be streamed below.

In late 2016 the company entered into an extended agreement with Frehley to release two more studio albums.

Vice president of sales and acquisitions at eOne Ken Gullic says: "We're absolutely thrilled to have an artist of Ace's stature on our roster, and to re-release this album on eOne. The 'Anomaly Deluxe' edition completes the trifecta of his comeback trilogy, alongside his first Top 10 album, 'Space Invader', as well as 'Origins Vol. 1'. Ace will follow this with two more studio albums."

At the time of its release, "Anomaly" lived up to its name. "There was a lot of pressure on me, because I hadn't done an album in twenty years," explains Frehley. "I wasn't sure it wasn’t going to be well-received. Luckily, it was!"

"Anomaly" sold around 17,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 27 on The Billboard 200 chart.

Released on September 15, 2009 via Ace's own Bronx Born Records, with Rocket Science providing a full label service platform in the U.S., "Anomaly" was produced and recorded in Westchester County, New York between 2007 and 2009 and was mixed in Los Angeles.

Between live shows in the United States, Frehley is writing for his next album, and reveals that sessions have included working with KISS bassist/vocalist Gene Simmons for an expected 2018 release.

"I am writing for my next studio album," he begin. "Gene came over my house to write — it went fantastic. In a matter of three hours, he and I came up with two new songs for my [next] record. I'm thrilled." The occasion was momentous for another reason. "It was the first time I have worked with him while I was sober," he reveals, "and it was a pleasure."

In September, Frehley and his band will return to Australia and New Zealand for a series of dates with Alice Cooper.

"I have not been to Australia in a while," he begins, "Alice and I have been friends since the '70s, and playing with him is going to be bigger and better."

Speaking of playing, there is a rumor that a certain song will be performed on the tour by Frehley, one that goes back to being a fan favorite Down Under when he first toured there with KISS in 1980. The original "Spaceman" sets the record straight: "I gotta do 'Talk To Me' — for Australia, I'll do it!"

Frehley's latest release was a covers collection "Origins, Vol 1", which received great reviews and landed in the Top 25 on the Billboard album chart. The effort featured a guest appearance by KISS lead singer Paul Stanley on a cover of FREE's "Fire And Water", marking their first collaboration since 1998's "Psycho Circus".

Video: MASTODON Performs 'Show Yourself' On 'Conan'

Video: MASTODON Performs 'Show Yourself' On 'Conan'

Atlanta progressive heavy rock icons MASTODON performed the song "Show Yourself" on last night's (July 10) episode of Conan O'Brien's nighttime talk show, "Conan". Video footage of their appearance can be seen below.

"Show Yourself" is taken from MASTODON's seventh studio album, "Emperor Of Sand", which debuted at No. 7 on the Billboard 200 album chart, making it their third Top 10 album. The follow-up to 2014's "Once More 'Round The Sun" was recorded at The Quarry Recording Studio in Kennesaw, just outside MASTODON's hometown of Atlanta, with producer Brendan O'Brien (PEARL JAM, NEIL YOUNG, AC/DC, RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE), who first worked with MASTODON on their seminal 2009 album "Crack The Skye"

MASTODON bassist/vocalist Troy Sanders and guitarist Bill Kelliher explained in an interview with Noisey that the band doesn't let online trolls and haters — and even some of their own fans — get to them with criticism about their sound or the way it's changed. Kelliher said, "Our fucking fans are nuts. They pick apart every fucking note, every fucking word, who's singing what, why this song doesn't sound like the last song, why this song sucks because it's different."

Kelliher added: "I read these comments on the internet of people saying we sold out by playing songs like 'Show Yourself'. Who the fuck are you? What do you mean we sold out? I'll play whatever music I want to play! I'll put out a goddamn pop record if I want to. I don't have to answer to anybody but my bandmates — and my wife."

Kelliher offered his perception of who some of these alleged fans are, saying: "There's people that follow the MASTODON Facebook page and then they talk shit. Are you just trying to be cool? I think of a pimply-faced 14-year-old in his underpants sitting on his computer. Where's your band that you've had for 17 years? Where are your three-time Grammy loser certificates?"

MASTODON has been nominated for a Grammy three times in the "Best Metal Performance" category over the years, losing all three times.

SOIL To Release 'Scream: The Essentials' In September

SOIL To Release 'Scream: The Essentials' In September

Chicago-based heavy rock outfit SOIL will release "Scream: The Essentials" on September 15 via Pavement Entertainment and AFM Records. Celebrating the band's twenty-year career, this release will feature tracks from their humble beginnings, rise to fame, and also include alternate versions and mixes.

A brand-new track, "Gimme Some Lovin'", will be featured on the compilation and released as a single and video. "Gimme Some Lovin'" originally made its onscreen debut in the cult classic motion picture "The Blues Brothers" in 1980. Being primarily a rhythm-and-blues-based song, SOIL took it upon themselves to add their own personal touch and bring the song into a modern 2017 hard rock element.

"Vocally, I really had a good time with the song," states vocalist Ryan McCombs. "It was a bit left field to what I’m accustomed to singing, but with the added touches we put on it, the song fell right into place."

Contributing to those "added touches" were guest backing vocalists Lindy Gabriel (GABRIEL AND THE APOCALYPSE) and Cristina Feliciano (OBLIVIOUS SIGNAL), along with guest keyboardist Jake LaCore (GABRIEL AND THE APOCALYPSE).

"I consider Lindy and Cristina two of the absolute best up-and-coming female vocalists out there," says bassist Tim King. "And with being all from the same USA record label (Pavement Entertainment), it was a great way to keep everything in the family." The result is a perfect nod to the band's Chicago heritage, with a classic blues-based song that mixes a whole lotta rock, metal, and female fury pumped into the mix.

Other songs exclusive to this release include an acoustic version of the song "Can You Heal Me" from the album "Re.de.fine". This version was recorded at Dimebag Darrell's home studio in 2004 after SOIL had completed a European tour with DAMAGEPLAN. At the helm were Sterling Whitfield engineering and Vinnie Paul Abbott producing the track. "Those sessions are such a blur, as it was mandatory to record while drinking lots of booze at Dime's studio," says King. "But somehow we got through them. Great times and memories (from what we can still recall!) came from that session. A lot of drunken love on those tracks."

Another special track on the album is a version of the song "Give It Up" that features the late Wayne Static from STATIC-X singing verses, choruses, and a bridge section in the song. This version leaked out to radio and met with some great underground success but was never properly released until now.

With the recent passing of Chris Cornell (an early influence on SOIL), the band decided to pay homage and add their version of the classic SOUNDGARDEN song "Rusty Cage" to the compilation. "Rusty Cage" was recorded in 2007 and previously only available on the band's MySpace page.

SOIL will embark on a world tour in support of the new release throughout 2017 and 2018.

MONARCH To Release Never Forever Album In September; “Song To The Void” Video Streaming

Extreme drone doom metal merchants, Monarch, have officially announced the release of their unearthly, earth-shattering new album, Never Forever, this September 22nd via Profound Lore Records. Enter the ritual with the "Song To The Void" video, streaming below.

With Never Forever, France’s cult extreme doom metal band Monarch continue their singular style of punishing ritualistic drone doom and take it towards more melancholic territories. Even more ghostly, atmospheric, and haunting than its predecessor, 2014’s Sabbracadaver, Never Forever sees the five-piece take even more form and shape with their songwriting while still harnessing that plodding, down-tuned, and crushing low-end that has become their signature rhythmic backdrop to vocalist Emilie Bresson’s enchanting and spellbinding vocals. With the more melancholic tone and vibe of Never Forever, Bresson adapts her vocals in a more ethereal and delicate manner likewise, while still juxtaposing them with her otherworldly harsh shrieks.

Tracklisting:

“Of Night, With Knives”
“Song To The Void”
“Cadaverine”
“Diamant Noir”

This has earned them the reputation as one of the most recognized and respected underground extreme doom metal bands in the scene today.

QUEEN - Vintage “March Of The Black QUEEN” Guitar Tutorial From BRIAN MAY Streaming

QUEEN - Vintage “March Of The Black QUEEN” Guitar Tutorial From BRIAN MAY Streaming

In 1983, Star Licks Productions created a series of instructional videos featuring well-known musicians demonstrating their unique musical styles and techniques. The portfolio debuted with a wide-ranging group of players including Steve Lukather of Toto, Black Sabbath’s Tony Iommi, guitarist Albert Lee, and acclaimed guitarist/educator Wolf Marshall.

In one of the videos, Queen’s Brian May discussed his equipment and techniques, and demonstrates a number of his guitar solos. He covers both famous and lesser known Queen songs, including “Brighton Rock”, “Tie Your Mother Down”, “Somebody To Love”, “It's Late”, “Dead On Time”, “Put Out The Fire”, “It's A Hard Life”, “Keep Yourself Alive”, “Jesus”, “Father To Son” and “Crazy Little Thing Called Love”.

Watch a clip featuring “March Of The Black Queen” below.

The programme was produced and directed by Mark Freed and Robert Decker, and recorded at Sarm West, London, England. The video was originally released in 1983 and later reissued in 1993/4.

Note from Brian: “Mark initially came to me with an idea for making audio cassettes of guitarists explaining their techniques. It seemed a good one and we arranged to meet and make it happen. But I said ... if we’re going to the trouble of recording this stuff, why not film it as well, and make it into a Video Cassette ?! So we made a ‘pilot’ video, and people liked it, and this became the template for a whole collection of videos which, I think, stand up very well to this day. Maybe we should do an update?!”

ABHORRENT DECIMATION Release “The Scythe In The Dark” Music Video

ABHORRENT DECIMATION Release “The Scythe In The Dark” Music Video

London-based extreme death metal group, Abhorrent Decimation, have released a video for the new track “The Scythe In The Dark”, featured on their upcoming sophomore album, The Pardoner, hitting digital and physical retailers worldwide on July 28th, via Prosthetic Records. The clip is available for streaming below.

The ten track, 50 minute opus was recorded, mixed and mastered by bassist David Archer at Audio Empire. The intricate artwork for The Pardoner was created by German illustrator Karmazid, based on a visual concept by Vocalist Ashley Scott.

Conceptually, the album is an in-depth exploration into "The Pardoner", English poet Geoffrey Chaucer's most depraved and deceitful character from The Canterbury Tales. "The Pardoner" is a religious fraud and hypocrite who preaches against the love of greed, yet whose own love of wealth enabled him to profit off the sins of others. He claimed to work on behalf of the clergy, selling spiritual forgiveness for one's sins in the form of his pardons, which included forged "official letters" from high ranking church officials absolving one of their sins and bones and crystals blessed with healing powers. In Chaucer's story, "The Pardoner" tells a harrowing tale of three men whose materialism becomes the death of them.

Vocalist Ashley Scott comments on the lyrical content of the album: "Lyrically, the album opens with a scene setter. 'Pardoners' would often operate with a partner called a 'Soothsayer'. A 'Soothsayer' would visit a town prior to 'The Pardoner's' arrival. It was his job to stir locals up regarding their sins and the repercussions thereof. He would advise people that if they could find a 'Pardoner', they should do so and atone for their sins by buying a pardon or indulgence.

“Tracks 2 to 7 are the story 'The Pardoner' tells of the three men, avarice and Death. In many places throughout tracks 2 to 7, I actually use Middle English turn of phrase. In some places, I have used my own interpretation and translations of Chaucer's work and in other places; I introduced some of my own narrative and details. The idea was to create an obvious storytelling feel to this section, with word play and rhyme playing a major role in what I did, as I wanted to ring as true to the original as possible. Track 8 is my own conclusion of the inexorable nature of death and greed. Track 9 is an instrumental and then the record closes with Track 10, The Pardoner. A sort of self damning, confessionary monologue.

“Soothsayer”
“Heretic Sacrifice”
“Votive Offerings”
“Granted Indulgence”
“Black Candle Gathering”

PRONG: Lyric Video For New Song 'Divide And Conquer'

PRONG: Lyric Video For New Song 'Divide And Conquer'

The official lyric video for the new PRONG song "Divide And Conquer" can be seen below. The track is taken from the band's upcoming album, "Zero Days", which will be released on July 28 via Steamhammer/SPV as a CD digipak, 2LP gatefold, digital download and as a stream.

Commented PRONG mainman Tommy Victor: "Hey, our new single, 'Divide And Conquer', is a fist-pumping singalong. We think of it as a modern-day anthem. It's catchy but it's pissed off."

Musically, "Zero Days" hits home from the first bars of the mighty opener "However It May End" to the last bars of the album's closing track, "Wasting Of The Dawn". Every track is its own emotional roller-coaster ride, chock-full of massive riffage, ironclad grooves and topped off by Victor's ever-improving vocal delivery.

"Zero Days" was once again produced by Tommy Victor, with trusted collaborator Chris Collier as co-producer and engineer.

Victor stated about "Zero Days": "I must say a lot of effort was put into this new 'Zero Days' recording. From the minute I would get off tour, I would consolidate ideas from the road and form new ones. Again, the focus was on creating good songs. We wanted this record to be modern as well as holding justice to all the previous releases. Again, and maybe even more than normally, I went crazy meticulous with the lyrics. I had built up a lot to say and I wanted to articulate them in the most intelligent way possible. I firmly believe the mission was accomplished all around.

"We are really pleased with the performances on this record as well," he continued. "It's a solid outing. We have the anthems, the bangers, the thrashers, the grooves, everything that makes up a PRONG record. It's definitely a record to listen to start to finish!!"

"Zero Days" track listing - CD digipak:

METALLICA's KIRK HAMMETT Says Being A Millionaire 'Comes With A Whole Bunch Of Different Problems'

METALLICA's KIRK HAMMETT Says Being A Millionaire 'Comes With A Whole Bunch Of Different Problems'

METALLICA guitarist Kirk Hammett was interviewed on the July 10 edition of Jason Bailey and "Southside" Steve Rickman's show, which airs on Atlanta, Georgia's Rock 100.5 radio station. You can now listen to the chat below.

Asked if it ever gets old being a millionaire, Hammett responded: "You know, it just comes with a whole bunch of different problems, bro. And you know what? I'm not very good with saving money. [I spend it on] comic books and movie posters and horror stuff and guitars. I live my life. I just fucking live my life. And I'm generous. The people who are around me experience what I'm experiencing while I'm experiencing it."

In a 2010 interview with Rip It Up magazine, METALLICA drummer Lars Ulrich admitted that he has "always had an incredibly aloof relationship with money." He explained: "Like, when I didn't have any money, it was not anything that mattered to me. And now that we're fortunate to have some money, it doesn't really play a role in anything we do, it doesn't really play a role in anything I do. I don't sit there and look at my bank balances or count the money or sit there and micro-manage METALLICA... 'If we do this, if we do this, or if we do this... It'll be 17 dollars...' None of that stuff happens at all. I mean, the great thing about being successful is, obviously, in the wake of that comes... It gives you freedom, it gives you freedom to not think about it, actually; that's the best thing. And it gives you freedom to, kind of, put as much money back into the shows and into the travelling and into making it all work."

In recent years, METALLICA created its Orion Music + More festival, which ran for two years, and self-funded "Metallica Through The Never", a 3D concert film. Both projects were a hit with fans, but lost money.

METALLICA has just resumed its first North American tour in more than seven years.

The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame band is touring in support of its tenth studio album, "Hardwired... To Self-Destruct", which came out last November, eight years after "Death Magnetic".

KING DIAMOND And Wife Are Parents Of Baby Son

KING DIAMOND And Wife Are Parents Of Baby Son

Legendary Danish heavy metal vocalist King Diamond (KING DIAMOND, MERCYFUL FATE) and his wife, Hungarian-born singer Livia Zita, are the parents of a three-month-old son, named Byron.

Zita, who has been performing with KING DIAMOND as a backing vocalist since 2003, is unable to join the group on the road for the next few shows as she is taking care of the baby boy, who was named after King's favorite singer of all time, late URIAH HEEP frontman David Byron. Filling in for her is Hel Pyre from the Greek metal band AFTERBLOOD.

King Diamond, whose real name is Kim Bendix Petersen, told the Danish web site BT.dk in a 2009 interview that he spoke to Livia for the first time around fifteen years ago when she interviewed him over the phone for the Hungarian edition of Metal Hammer magazine. "We got along incredibly well. And afterwards I couldn't stop thinking about her," King said.

"We were both going through a hard time in our lives," he continued. "And we clicked. At some point, I asked her if she would send a photograph of herself. We had talked together for months. But I didn't know how old Livia was… nor how she looked, and when she told me how old she was, I simply couldn't believe it."

Despite the fact that the 61-year-old King is 28 years her senior, Livia said that she was not concerned. "Our ages are just numbers," she said. "We are soulmates."

Regarding how their relationship developed, Livia said: "We talked at first over the phone. Then he went to Hungary, where he, on our first night together, proposed both in English and in German — so that my father would understand it. I, of course, said yes. He and I are just made for each other."

King, who has lived in suburban Dallas, Texas for more than two decades, told Metal Hammer last year that he has "become a lot healthier" since he underwent open-heart triple-bypass surgery in 2010. He said: "I gave up smoking after my heart scare, my wife keeps me on a strict diet that I follow completely, and doctors are amazed at how healthy I am these days. Honestly, I think I am now healthier than I have ever been."

He continued: "I've also found that, since I made a real effort to have a healthy lifestyle, my voice has improved so much. I can now hit notes that were a struggle for me when I was younger. As for my sex life, that's just great now. And I am not saying that because my wife is sitting next to me!"

ARCADEA Featuring MASTODON, ZRUDA, WITHERED Members Release “Through The Eye Of Pisces” Music Video

ARCADEA Featuring MASTODON, ZRUDA, WITHERED Members Release “Through The Eye Of Pisces” Music Video

Cosmic synth/psych collective, Arcadea, have released a video for “Through The Eye Of Pisces”, featured on their recently unleashed self-titled debut album (Relapse Records).

Speaking about the new video, Core Atoms says, “The ice melts on a small planet drifting towards a new sun. An android wakes to find she is the only lifeform on this once bustling planet. Traveling through graveyards of crystal, dust and lifeless automation, her memories replay. Created to service the living, her programming resets and becomes the drive to revive her world.”

The new clip is available below, and you can order the album at this location.

Arcadea was born when drummer-vocalist Brann Dailor teamed up with upside-down guitarist & keyboardist Core Atoms to create a synth-laden progressive, heavy psych band. Adding guitarist Raheem Amlani on synth, the three recorded their visionary, 10 song synth odyssey at Orange Peel Studios in Atlanta, GA.

Tracklisting:

“Army Of Electrons”
“Gas Giant”
“Rings Of Saturn”
“Neptune Moons”
“Infinite End”
“Electromagnetic”
“Motion Of Planets”
“The Pull Of Invisible Strings”

“Worlds Can Go On”
“Magnificent Facade”

Album stream:

“Army Of Electrons” video:

Unlike their other bands, Arcadea uses only keyboards in a unique blend of crushing, organic drums and psychedelic synthesizers. The music is at once electronic but not electronica, synthetic but not processed, heavy but not metal.

The album envisions a future 5 billion years from now, where the impending collision of galaxies creates a new order of planets. Where cold, distant moons pledge alliance to new suns and expanding gas giants implode into black holes. Ancient drones, forever adrift, record toxic tales of love between dying stars. Where lifeforms in suspended animation, dream among the ice rings of Saturn and cosmic war wages among gods and planets. It is in this universe that Arcadea reign supreme as the last surviving space wizards since the final extinction.

SOUL REMNANTS Streaming New Single “Depravity's Lock”

SOUL REMNANTS Streaming New Single “Depravity's Lock”

Boston-based death metal act, Soul Remnants, have released the new single, “Depravity's Lock”, featured on their second full length album, Ouroboros, out on July 21st via Entertainment One Music / Lifeblood Inc. The track is available for streaming below.

"We are proud to releasing our new album Ouroboros through eOne Music / Lifeblood, Inc.  An insane amount of hard work and passion was poured into the creation of this record and we wouldn't have it any other way." says the band. METALLICA's LARS ULRICH: Why I Don't Have Any Tattoos

METALLICA's LARS ULRICH: Why I Don't Have Any Tattoos

11Alive conducted an interview with METALLICA drummer Lars Ulrich prior to the band's July 9 concert at SunTrust Park in Atlanta, Georgia. You can now watch the chat below.

Asked why he chose not to have any tattoos, Ulrich said: "I never really thought about why I haven't. It's just the idea of somebody sticking needles in me, leaving permanent ink spots on me just seems… It's sort of like… I don't know… Why don't you eat coal? Or why don't you jump off the top of the Empire State Building? It just doesn't seem like within the range of what I would call normal behavior. But no disrespect, of course, to all people that have tattoos, but it's just not for me." Ulrich paused and then clarified: "I'll take the 'normal behavior' part out of that. I'm sorry. I didn't mean to be offensive. But tattoos are not for me."

METALLICA has just resumed its first North American tour in more than seven years. The trek marks the first time that METALLICA has offered "enhanced" or "VIP" experiences for fans, with some willing to cough up as much as $2,500 for personal meetings, photos and autographs from the group.

Support on the quartet's first North American trek since 2009 is coming mainly from AVENGED SEVENFOLD and VOLBEAT, with GOJIRA taking over for the latter group for the last six shows.

The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame band is touring in support of its tenth studio album, "Hardwired... To Self-Destruct", which came out last November, eight years after "Death Magnetic".

"Hardwired… To Self-Destruct" was certified platinum on April 12 by the RIAA (Recording Association Of America). The platinum certification reflects a million equivalent album units, which blends traditional album sales, tracks sold from an album and on-demand audio and video streams.

KERRY KING Says It's 'Conceivable' That SLAYER Could Release New Album In 2018

KERRY KING Says It's 'Conceivable' That SLAYER Could Release New Album In 2018

In a brand new interview with Revolver magazine, SLAYER guitarist Kerry King was asked if there are any plans in place for the band to begin working on a follow-up to 2015's "Repentless" album. He responded: "Funny thing is, 'Repentless' isn't even two years old yet, though it seems like it is. But from that session, there are six or eight songs that are recorded — some with vocals, some with leads, but all with keeper guitar, drums and bass. So when those songs get finished lyrically, if the lyrics don't change the songs, they'll be ready to be on the next record. So we already have more than half a record complete, if those songs make it."

He continued: "This is actually the most prepared we've ever been for the next record in our history; there's no reason to not do more work, because it's already more than halfway done. Just write four or five new songs, and give the others some attention, and we'll be good to go. If we get a down period of time, which I know is coming at the end of this year, maybe we'll focus on that and get to it."

Pressed about whether it's "conceivable" that we could see a new SLAYER record next year, Kerry said: "It's conceivable — but I'm certainly not gonna promise it, because every time I do, I make a liar of myself! [Laughs]"

"Repentless", was released on September 11, 2015 via Nuclear Blast. The follow-up to 2009's critically acclaimed, Grammy-nominated "World Painted Blood" was produced by Terry Date, who has previously worked with PANTERA, DEFTONES and SOUNDGARDEN. The artwork was created by Brazilian artist Marcelo Vasco in collaboration with Tom Araya and Kerry King.

"Repentless" debuted at No. 4 on The Billboard 200, having shifted 50,000 equivalent album units in the week ending September 17, 2015.

SLAYER's six-week North American tour with LAMB OF GOD and BEHEMOTH will kick off on July 12 in Bemidji, Minnesota and run through August 20 in Phoenix, Arizona. SLAYER and LAMB OF GOD will also play Wisconsin's Rock Fest (July 13) and Rock USA 2017 (July 15), and then meet up with BEHEMOTH at the Chicago Open Air festival on July 16.

METALLICA: Pro-Shot Footage Of 'Fuel' Performance From Orlando

METALLICA: Pro-Shot Footage Of 'Fuel' Performance From Orlando

Professionally filmed video footage of METALLICA performing the song "Fuel" on July 5 at Camping World Stadium in Orlando, Florida can be seen below.

The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame band is touring in support of its tenth studio album, "Hardwired... To Self-Destruct", which came out last November, eight years after "Death Magnetic".

"Hardwired… To Self-Destruct" was certified platinum on April 12 by the RIAA (Recording Association Of America). The platinum certification reflects a million equivalent album units, which blends traditional album sales, tracks sold from an album and on-demand audio and video streams.

The recent gain in "Hardwired… To Self-Destruct" sales is owed mostly to a concert ticket/album bundle sale redemption promotion with the band's stadium tour that went on sale on February 17. Redemptions of albums included with the purchase of a concert ticket register as a sale in the week the customer redeems/receives the album.
