GREGG ALLMAN’s Longtime Manager MICHAEL LEHMAN Recalls Singer’s Final Days - “As Things Started To Slow Down And We Knew That His Life Was Coming To A Close, We Started Talking About Preserving His Legacy”Gregg Allman, who passed away Saturday (May 27th) due to complications from liver cancer, was a co-founder of the legendary Allman Brothers Band and a peerless pioneer of Southern rock - and by extension the entire jam-band movement, reports Variety.
Yet when he joined forces with his longtime manager Michael Lehman in 2004, his contributions and legacy were under-recognized and his business affairs were not in optimal shape. Lehman got to work on changing that, and over the past dozen-odd years Allman not only toured regularly, he released four solo albums - including 2011’s Grammy-nominated Low Country Blues and the forthcoming Southern Blood, due in September - established the Laid Back music festival in partnership with Live Nation, held the All My Friends career-retrospective concert in 2015, and established music scholarships at both the University of Georgia and through Syracuse University’s Bandier Program. In the process the two became not just close business partners but also close friends, and on Sunday Lehman shared memories from those years with Variety.
Variety: What were the last few months with Gregg like?
Michael Lehman: “I last saw him a couple of weeks ago, and we’d spent a lot of time together over the past couple of years at his place in North Florida as well as his home in Savannah [Georgia]. We talked about music, friendship, the arts, his relationship with his kids [Allman had five children, all but one of whom are musicians]. If his kids weren’t there we’d Facetime with them. And as things started to slow down and we knew that his life was coming to a close, we started talking about preserving his legacy, and especially the new record, “Southern Blood” — that made him light up. It was my goal to make sure it would be a big, special album, even though that it became clear that Gregg wasn’t necessarily going to be able to promote it, even if he was here, and that was something we were going to be prepared for.”

TOOL Singer Calls Out 'Entitled Snowflakes' In Concert RantTOOL frontman Maynard James Keenan had some choice, if unusual, words for the crowd at the Boston Calling festival on Sunday night (May 28), when the band headlined the final night of the event. According to The Pulse Of Radio, Keenan said: "As artists, we interpret and report, that's our job. We are merchants of emotion. We have the privilege to do that because of active and former law enforcement and military defending our right to do so."
He continued: "Those of you who are law enforcement and military, your job is to defend our right to act like whining, entitled snowflake assholes. Myself being one. Snowflakes, your job is to respect that I'm fucking doing that for you. Divided we fall. Don't believe the hype dumb-dumbs, we're all in this together."
Keenan did not elaborate further on his comments.
The Boston Calling show was the fourth of TOOL's current tour and marked the band's first show in the Boston area in more than a decade. The tour will also bring the act to New York City next weekend for the Governor's Ball and its first show in that city since 2006.
TOOL's tour continues in Rochester, New York on Tuesday (May 30). The trek will wrap up with a large show in San Bernardino, California on June 24 which will also feature MELVINS, PRIMUS, THE CRYSTAL METHOD and more.
Although there have been more hints than usual lately that we might be closer to the first new TOOL album since 2006, there has been no concrete evidence of a release date yet. 6

COREY TAYLOR: STONE SOUR's 'Hydrograd' 'Is Probably One Of The Things I'm Most Proud Of In My Life'SLIPKNOT and STONE SOUR singer Corey Taylor was interviewed by Rock 100.5 The KATT's Jay Ramone at this year's edition of the Rocklahoma festival, which was held May 26-28 at "Catch the Fever" Festival Grounds in Pryor, Oklahoma, just outside Tulsa. You can now watch the chat below.
Speaking about the recording process for STONE SOUR's upcoming album, "Hydrograd", Taylor said: "Dude, it was the most fun I've ever had making an album. It was the easiest album I've ever made, and yet it is so strong, it's so badass. It is tight, it's fast, it's rocking, it's crushing, it's melodic, there's songs for the ladies. I mean, it's got everything you could ever want in a rock and roll album, man. And it's probably one of the things I'm most proud of in my life."
"Hydrograd" will be released on June 30 via Roadrunner Records. The disc was recorded at Sphere Studios in North Hollywood, California with producer Jay Ruston, who has previously worked with ANTHRAX and STEEL PANTHER.
The band tracked the album live in the studio, cutting a total of 18 songs from which 15 will make the CD.
STONE SOUR has had eight Top 10 songs on Billboard's Mainstream Rock Songs, dating back to "Bother" in 2002. The band has landed three top 10 albums on the Billboard 200 and has sold 2.1 million albums in the United States to date, according to Nielsen Music. 2

STEVE TUCKER Is 'Stoked To Be A Part Of' MORBID ANGEL AgainSteve Tucker of MORBID ANGEL and WARFATHER took part in the latest installment of "20 Questions With Scooter". You can now watch the chat below.
Speaking about what it has been like being back in MORBID ANGEL for the past two years, Tucker — who is on his third spell with the group — said: "MORBID is what it is, man. It's legendary. For me, MORBID's fun, man, because I come in and I do my part — I have my part. And MORBID is its own machine, man; MORBID ANGEL just exists and keeps going and is this entity that, really, is a part of Trey [Azagthoth, MORBID ANGEL guitarist], man. And I just enjoy being a part of it, and I've always really enjoyed and loved the things that Trey and I created together. I think it's nothing like what Trey and David [Vincent, former MORBID ANGEL frontman], the other singer from MORBID, created; it's something different. I bring something different out in Trey and he bring something out in me. But it's good stuff to me. It's always been good stuff and stuff I've always been very proud of. So with MORBID, man, I'm really just… I'm stoked to be a part of it and get to go out and see people I haven't seen in years and play songs I haven't played in years. I mean, we talk about these songs sometimes, how long it's been since this album came out, and it's way longer than I even wanna think about. But to get play 'em again, man, it's great — it's very enjoyable."
Tucker also talked about MORBID ANGEL's latest additions, drummer Scott Fuller (ANNIHILATED, ex-ABYSMAL DAWN) and guitarist Dan Vadim Von (guitarist/frontman of the American death metal band VADIMVON). He said: "Scotty is young, man. It's kind of funnt. Scotty is, I think… Man, I don't even know how much younger he is than me, man… like fifteen years or something. And it's really weird, man, but he's a phenomenal drummer. And it's funny. I took influences from bands like AC/DC and SLAYER and METALLICA and all the other thrash bands out there, [like] KREATOR and SODOM, all these bands, I took 'em in and I turned 'em into something that they probably think is obnoxious. Well, Scotty did it too. Scotty was influenced by these bands, and he was influenced by MORBID. What he's doing, his generation, man, his drumming is just… to me, it's completely next level. And Daniel, man… Daniel, he's a really interesting guy, man. He was born in Russia, in the USSR, under communist rule. Just hanging out with this guy, some of the stories this guy tells you are just absolutely mind-blowing. He literally, man, started off in a different world. You know, communist USSR and the United States in the '80s were about as far from each other as you could possibly get on this planet, as far as opinion and as far as location. So he's from another world, man. But it's the funny thing about music — we get in a room and we all come to the same page and lock in together, man."
He continued: "So it's interesting, man. It's really interesting to be involved with MORBID ANGEL with two people that I'm really… coming into it, was not familiar with. There's other elements that kept it glued together. Like, I mean, we were working with [producer and former MORBID ANGEL guitarist] Erik Rutan. I couldn't be more familiar with Erik. So there was that comfort kind of leveling off this newness. So somehow it all gelled together, man, and it's all working and I'm really happy with what we've got going on."
Tentatively due before the end of the year via UDR Music, MORBID ANGEL's new disc was recorded at Mana Recording in St. Petersburg, Florida with Rutan. The LP will mark the band's first release with Fuller, who joined MORBID ANGEL last year following the departure of Tim Yeung. It will also be MORBID ANGEL's first album to feature Tucker since 2003's "Heretic".
Dan Vadim Von joined MORBID ANGEL in January as the replacement for Norwegian guitarist Destructhor (a.k.a. Thor Anders Myhren), who left the band two years ago.
MORBID ANGEL's first U.S. tour of 2017, which kicked off on May 23 in Orlando, Florida, features support from SUFFOCATION, REVOCATION and WITHERED.
Former MORBID ANGEL frontman David Vincent recently joined forces with several other musicians — including Yeung (drums) — to perform classic MORBID ANGEL songs under the I AM MORBID banner.
MORBID ANGEL's controversial 2011 album, "Illud Divinum Insanus", marked the group's first CD to feature Vincent since "Domination". 7

RIVERDOGS Feat. VIVIAN CAMPBELL: Acoustic Performance Of New Song 'Welcome To The New Disaster'Video footage of RIVERDOGS, the band featuring DEF LEPPARD and LAST IN LINE guitarist Vivian Campbell, performing an acoustic version of its new song "Welcome To The New Disaster", can be seen below. The track is taken from RIVERDOGS' comeback album, "California", which will be released on July 7 via Frontiers Music Srl.
Featuring original members Campbell, Rob Lamothe (vocals, guitars) and Nick Brophy (bass, vocals), along with drummer Marc Danzeisen, the band's fifth album is RIVERDOGS' first new music since the eight-song mini album, "World Gone Mad", came out in October 2011.
Mixing the soulful vocals of Lamothe with the edgy guitarwork of Campbell and solid rhythmic lines from Brophy and Danzeisen, the album marks a definitive return to the sound of their critically acclaimed 1990 self-titled debut album. On the making of the album, Campbell says: "When my friends at Frontiers suggested a RIVERDOGS album in the spirit of the original debut record, I jumped at the chance to make it. In my opinion, 'Riverdogs' was a highlight of my career with some of my best guitar playing and definitely a record that flew under the radar. Having a clear direction of exactly what kind of record to make really helped the four of us create the music and there was an intense collective focus throughout the entire process that never wavered. I really think that we hit the target in creating a record that has all the hallmarks, the integrity and the emotional strength of the original debut. The fact that we've all remained such close friends throughout all the years only added to the joyous experience that was the making of this record."
Adds Lamothe: "Going into this project, my goal was to enjoy the opportunity of making music with some of my best friends, to share this incredible experience with my family... and to create something that RIVERDOGS fans will probably think is pretty bloody awesome. Big guitars! Beautiful melodies! Words about crazy, complicated, real stuff! I feel like Nick, Viv, Marc and I all brought our 'A' games to the writing and recording sessions. That's way more important than money and awards and fame to me" Brophy sums up the writing process for the album: "In summer of 2016, I found myself in Los Angeles, reunited with three of my closest friends, about to begin a new RIVERDOGS album. Marc had arranged a rehearsal environment at a friend's house, which was to provide the creative atmosphere for writing new material. I stood there with bass in hand thinking, 'Okay, now what?' Little did I know that a few days later we would have six new RIVERDOGS songs and the album 'California' was born. The remaining six songs came, surprisingly, just as easily, a testament to the amazing talents of Vivian, Rob, Marc and the effortless way in which we work as a group. Our clear goal for this album was to remain true to the original RIVERDOGS sound and provide fans with a new set of songs which carry on the legacy of a truly remarkable band." RIVERDOGS formed in Los Angeles at the end of the '80s when flashy, glitzy hard rock ruled the day, but they were determined to avoid clichés and adopted an original sounding blues-rock style. Campbell of SWEET SAVAGE, DIO and WHITESNAKE fame at the time (soon to join and become a long-standing member of DEF LEPPARD and later, founding member of LAST IN LINE as well) was initially brought on board to produce the band's first demo, but was so impressed with the band that he actually became a member and played on the debut album. Soon after the release, Marc Danzeisen joined Rob, Nick and Vivian to complete the lineup. Though fans and critics gave the album a warm reception and high regard, the unfortunate and age old story of change of personnel at their record label came about and eventually led the band members to go their own ways, with Campbell settling into the DEF LEPPARD lineup and Nick Brophy becoming a respected engineer and producer. RIVERDOGS, with a revamped lineup, released two more records in 1993, "Bone" and "Absolutely Live", before going on an extended hiatus. They reconvened, with the original lineup, in 2003 to record new material and play a few reunion shows. Those new songs were recorded as demos, but only completed in the studio in 2011 when their last album, "World Gone Mad", was released.
Now, six years after their last studio album, RIVERDOGS have crafted "California", a record that truly recreates the magical sounds of their early days and that will surely be welcomed with open arms by fans both old and new. "California" track listing:
01. American Dream02. The Revolution Starts Tonight03. Something Inside04. Golden Glow05. You're Too Rock And Roll06. The Heart Is A Mindless Bird07. Searching For A Signal08. Welcome To The New Disaster09. Ten Thousand Reasons10. Catalina11. I Don't Know Anything

METAL CHURCH: 'Reset' Video PremiereMETAL CHURCH's video for the song "Reset" can be seen below. The track is taken from the band's latest album, "XI", which debuted at No. 57 on The Billboard 200, having shifted 11,000 equivalent album units in the week ending March 31, 2016.
"XI" was released on March 25, 2016 via Rat Pak Records. Produced by guitarist Kurdt Vanderhoof and co-produced by Chris "The Wizard" Collier, the band's eleventh studio release marked the return of singer Mike Howe.
METAL CHURCH released "Classic Live" via Rat Pak Records on April 28. Produced by Vanderhoof, this special edition release features nine classic METAL CHURCH songs recorded live on the band's 2016 tour and also includes a special bonus track, a powerful new studio version of "Fake Healer" that features a duet with QUEENSRŸCHE vocalist Todd La Torre.
METAL CHURCH has recruited Stet Howland (ex-W.A.S.P.) to play drums for the band on all its summer shows. He joins the group as the replacement for Jeff Plate, who announced his departure from METAL CHURCH in March.
Vanderhoof recently confirmed that METAL CHURCH has commenced the songwriting sessions for the follow-up to "XI", tentatively due in early 2018. "I actually have a big pile of new songs — demos — ready to go, and Mike [Howe, vocals] and I are gonna start putting it together and we're gonna try to start putting a new record," the guitarist told the "KDUX Morning Show".
Kurdt also spoke in more detail about the METAL CHURCH songwriting process, saying that it comes about organically. "The only way I approach writing a METAL CHURCH record is, does it sound like a METAL CHURCH record?" he explained. "I've never been one to try to take chances and break new ground with things; that's never been my kind of thing. I just wanna definitely keep it old school and heavy and powerful, but it's gotta be melodic; there has to be vocal melodies and notes and things like that. Things that some bands and people don't really do anymore, which is, I guess, fine, but that's not really something that I wanna listen to. So it's still gotta be musical. So I just kind of approach it that way — it's gotta be musical, it's gotta be melodic, and it still has to maintain power and be metal. But it's definitely old school — just kind of like 'XI' was." 6

TRANS-SIBERIAN ORCHESTRA Creator PAUL O'NEILL's Death Ruled Accidental Prescription Drug OverdoseAccording to TMZ, Paul O'Neill, creator of the multi-platinum rock theater experience TRANS-SIBERIAN ORCHESTRA, died of intoxication from a mix of prescription drugs: methadone, codeine, diazepam (generic Valium) and doxylamine (an antihistamine).
TMZ obtained a copy of O'Neill's autopsy report, and it also mentions other ailments he was battling, such as mild heart disease, hypertension and moderate hardening of the arteries. The medical examiner determined the death to be accidental.
Earlier today, Paul's family released a statement saying that "the Hillsborough, Florida medical examiner's office has determined the official cause of Paul O'Neill's death as accidental, resulting from an unexpected reaction to prescribed medications to treat his numerous chronic illnesses (including bone augmentation surgery, complications from spinal fusion surgery, heart disease, and hypertension)."
When O'Neill died in April at the age of 61, TRANS-SIBERIAN ORCHESTRA released a statement saying he had "passed away from chronic illness."
TRANS-SIBERIAN ORCHESTRA formed in 1996 out of the ashes of the Florida power metal band SAVATAGE and started touring three years later, connecting with fans by releasing a series of rock operas, such as 1996's "Christmas Eve And Other Stories", 1998's "The Christmas Attic" and 2004's "The Lost Christmas Eve". Over the past 20 years, it has become a critically acclaimed, multi-platinum, musical powerhouse. The progressive rock group's record-setting "rock theater" tours sell out venues year after year and they have cemented their status as a must attend, multi-generational, holiday tradition.
2016 was another record-breaking year for TRANS-SIBERIAN ORCHESTRA (TSO). Proving that it is more popular on the road than ever before, TSO's winter tour 2016 sold the most tickets per show in the group's history, with a total in excess of 927,000. The tour also set a record gross for TSO with a total of more than $56.9 million.
20 years since the band's first album, and since its historic touring debut, TSO has played in excess of 1,800 shows for more than 14 million fans, with tour grosses of over $625 million, and sold in excess of 12 million albums and DVDs. In 2009, Billboard magazine placed TSO at #25 on its "Top Touring Artists Of The Decade."

BEHEMOTH Frontman's ME AND THAT MAN Project Releases 'Magdalene' Video"Magdalene", the new video from ME AND THAT MAN, which pairs BEHEMOTH founder, songwriter and singer Adam "Nergal" Darski with British/Polish rock musician John Porter, can be seen below. The clip was directed by Zev Deans and shot on location in Poland.
Ever the firebrand, Nergal stated about the inspiration for the video: "Well… let's say Jesus walked this earth. Let's say he really was a leader of a new founded sect. And look around… every guru, every charismatic leader, they were surrounded by many gorgeous women of which I'm sure they took advantage of. I bet Jesus was no different. But one day, like every other Casanova, he falls in love with one woman. Let's say her name was… Magdalene. She's resistant to his adoration, so he pulls out the strongest cards to prove his love and devotion for her. He changes water to wine, walks on the water… just to convince her. What's the result of his attempts? Listen to the song and find out yourself."
Deans states: "Here I present to you a simple tale of religious devotion, by way of Marquis de Sade. This little morsel was lensed by fashion photographer Ryan Michael Kelly, and it stars the salacious Nikki Delmonico. The band footage is a combination of the brilliant work of Grupa 13 and my own Kodak Super 8 footage, shot on location in Poland. I hope you enjoy!"
"Magdalene" is taken form ME AND THAT MAN's debut album, "Songs Of Love And Death", which was released in March through Cooking Vinyl.
With the release of this side project, the duo puts away any pre-conceived ideas about what heavy music "should" be. The project draws heavily on blues, country and folk to make music as dark as if it was being screamed over shredding guitars. "Songs Of Love And Death" is a dark journey through sun-bleached, dusty plains, soundtracked by low-slung acoustic guitars and steeped in the rawest essence of rock and blues. The duo's debut proves to be a revelatory affair for BEHEMOTH's huge global fan base, while simultaneously luring many more people into Nergal's artistic world. Fans of everything from Nick Cave, DANZIG, Leonard Cohen and Johnny Cash's American Recordings, through to the grim, frontier polemic of WOVENHAND are finding countless mesmerizing moments on the album. "This album is not meant to turn ME AND THAT MAN fans into BEHEMOTH fans," Nergal notes. "If one day they follow, okay. Something like 'My Church Is Black' is a strong declaration, a song that naturally invites people from the extreme metal world, and perhaps they'll want to enter this world too. They might even like it. With ME AND THAT MAN, I'm telling simple stories in a simple way, not overloaded with metaphors and hidden meanings. It's just got to be as natural, organic and stripped down as it can be." He further explains: "With ME AND THAT MAN, the songs just come out in a very organic way. One would be bluesy, one would be more of a ballad, but put together they all made sense. I need ME AND THAT MAN to keep the balance, as the potential of my mother band seems limitless. It gets bigger and bigger, more advanced and more sophisticated... and darker ...and blacker. But ME AND THAT MAN is at the opposite pole, artistically speaking. With all the best art, once you have it in you, you have to release it, otherwise it becomes intoxicating and dangerous to your own system. This is how I deal with my emotions and my dark feelings and shadows. This is not happy music, but it's liberating." "This is a side-project, but I don't really know what it's going to grow into," Nergal concludes. The idea was just to get this music out to people. There's no hidden agenda. It is what it is, and if you like it, it's cool. If you don't, that's cool too. This is the battle we've already won.""Songs Of Love And Death" features artwork by Daniel P. Carter. 2

VALLENFYRE Feat. PARADISE LOST, Ex-MY DYING BRIDE Members: 'Nihilist' Song Streaming"Nihilist", a brand new song from VALLENFYRE, the U.K. death metal band featuring Gregor Mackintosh, songwriter and guitarist of PARADISE LOST, alongside Hamish Glencross, formerly of MY DYING BRIDE, can be streamed below. The track is taken from VALLENFYRE's third album, "Fear Those Who Fear Him", which will be released on June 2 via Century Media Records. Recorded by the band's new core lineup consisting of Mackintosh (vocals and guitar), Glencross (guitar and bass) and Waltteri Väyrynen (drums), "Fear Those Who Fear Him" was once again produced by Kurt Ballou (CONVERGE, NAILS) at GodCity Studio in Salem, Massachusetts and mastered by Brad Boatright (OBITUARY, BEASTMILK, YOB) at Audiosiege Mastering in Portland, Oregon. The cover artwork was created by Hal Rotter.
"Fear Those Who Fear Him" will be released as gatefold LP+CD on limited colored and regular black 180-gram vinyl, as special edition digipak (international version), jewelcase CD (Canada, USA, Mexico only) and on all digital / streaming platforms.
Inspired by the likes of HELLHAMMER, CELTIC FROST, AUTOPSY, ANTISECT, DISCHARGE, NIHILIST, ENTOMBED, early NAPALM DEATH, early BATHORY and CONFLICT, VALLENFYRE have forged a trademark sound between rotting death metal driven by a chainsaw-like guitar sound, filthy doses of crust and early grind as well as crushing, depraved doom. Onstage, VALLENFYRE performs as a quintet with live members Sam Kelly-Wallace (rhythm guitar) and Chris Casket (bass) completing the lineup.
"Fear Those Who Fear Him" track listing:
01. Born To Decay02. Messiah03. Degeneration04. An Apathetic Grave05. Nihilist06. Amongst The Filth07. The Merciless Tide08. Dead World Breathes09. Soldier Of Christ10. Cursed From The Womb11. Kill All Your Masters12. Temple Of Rats
Mackintosh said: "Most bands refine their sound over the first two or three albums. Becoming more technically adept and honing their craft. VALLENFYRE have done almost exactly the opposite. We have devolved, made things simpler and crush most of the melody under swathes of rotting noise. From 'A Fragile King' to 'Splinters' and now to 'Fear Those Who Fear Him', we have become more savage, more raw and less compromising!" 2

KRYPTONITE Feat. KING DIAMOND, THE POODLES Members: 'Chasing Fire' Video"Chasing Fire", the new video from Sweden's KRYPTONITE, can be seen below. The song is taken from the band's self-titled debut album, self-titled album, which will be released on August 4 via Frontiers Music Srl. Sometimes musicians are put together who only know each other from afar via their respective recordings, but something clicks and triggers a magical moment. That's exactly what happened when Jakob Samuel from THE POODLES met up with producer Alessandro Del Vecchio on the heels of a concept created by Frontiers president Serafino Perugino. Together, they set off to work on a new band that could offer lyrical concepts that are deep and intelligent with music that operates within the genres they excel in. And most importantly, has a great energy and impact. Samuel, Del Vecchio and Perugino handpicked each musician to be part of their vision for a strong lineup of young and hungry Swedish musicians that would be ready to go out there and kick some ass. Pontus Egberg, formerly of THE POODLES and now the bass player for KING DIAMOND and TREAT, was the first one to enter the picture, followed shortly thereafter by Robban Back of MUSTASCH (and ex-ECLIPSE). The choice of guitar player fell to the young and immensely gifted Mike Palace. Mike showed his huge talents as a writer and performer on his band Palace's debut album and on several songs he has already written for the label. The recording and writing sessions flowed freely and the songs came naturally. This band will truly set a standard for what fans perceive as melodic hard rock in today's climate. It is classic, but modern at the same time, groovy and cool. 1

SÓLSTAFIR Streaming New Album In It’s EntiretySólstafir released their new album, Berdreyminn, on May 26th via Season Of Mist. The entire album is now available for streaming below.
Sólstafir are not like any other band. Their sixth album, Berdreyminn, underscores this statement. As its title "a dreamer of forthcoming events" aptly describes, the four Icelanders have taken their already impressive evolution one step further. The band has continued to amalgamate haunting melodies, psychedelic phases, as well as strong undercurrents of classic rock and hard rock with echoes of their metal past. Yet Sólstafir’s focus is not on style but pure emotion.
Berdreyminn is eclectic by a conscious choice to make feelings audible and transform taste as well as texture to sound. Genre borders are not broken but simply ignored. Musical influences are gathered from a wide range of sources, re-arranged, and woven into new patterns. Melancholy, longing, anger, joy, pleasure, pain, and other emotions are fuelling and fulling this album.

W.A.S.P. Cancels Summer Festival AppearancesW.A.S.P. has canceled its previously announced four festival appearances in June — including the Graspop Metal Meeting in Belgium and Hellfest in France — in order to complete work on its upcoming 25th-anniversary release, "Re-Idolized".
Says W.A.S.P. in a statement: "The recording of the new album 'Re-Idolized' and the accompanying film for 'The Crimson Idol' has developed unexpected delays. This will make it necessary for W.A.S.P. to withdraw from the four upcoming festivals that were scheduled for this summer. This was essential for the band to complete the album and film, to make the scheduled release in September, and the ensuing tour in the fall."
The first official trailer for "Re-Idolized" can be seen below.
In 1992 W.A.S.P. released "The Crimson Idol". It's the story of Jonathan Aaron Steele, an abused child looking for love. Discovering music years later, he rises to international superstardom. Later followed by a catastrophic fall.
2017 marks the 25th anniversary of the original release, which is still considered to be the best album of W.A.S.P.'s career, and one of the greatest concept albums of all times. "The Crimson Idol" undoubtedly belongs in every metal head’s record collection. The album about the anti-hero Jonathan Steele was originally intended to be accompanied by a movie, with several hundred hours of film that were shot to create approximately 50 minutes of movie footage.
This film has never been released — until now!
Napalm Records has announced "Re-Idolzed", the 25th anniversary of the iconic hit album plus the original "The Crimson Idol" movie on DVD and Blu-ray. For the first time ever as originally intended — film and soundtrack united — released as one product!
"Re-Idolized" will be available on Blu-ray, DVD, CD, and vinyl later this year.

FOO FIGHTERS Keep Playing After Festival Pulls PlugAccording to The Pulse Of Radio, FOO FIGHTERS had the plug pulled on them during the band's headlining set at the BottleRock festival in Napa Valley, California on Sunday night (May 28). The group kept playing, however, finishing their final encore of "Everlong" even without power. The Dave Grohl-led act headlined the third and final evening of the event, following previous nights' headliners Tom Petty and MAROON 5.
The San Francisco Chronicle reports that promoters "promptly shut down the speakers and video screens" halfway through "Everlong" because the band had played past a strict 10:00 p.m. curfew. The festival began implementing a strict curfew after residents previously complained about sound levels.
The FOO FIGHTERS finally bid farewell to the audience after finishing the song.
The group warmed up for the BottleRock event with an unannounced, invite-only gig at the nearby Blue Note jazz club on Friday (May 26).
Grohl told The Pulse Of Radio a while back that it's vital for the band to change up the live show from night to night. "You've got to change it up," he said. "To keep things interesting musically, like, that's our lifeline, you know, and to experiment and do things we've never done before. So we go out every night and we play all the loud, old rock stuff, we play all the loud new rock stuff, we play acoustic stuff, newer acoustic stuff, we just kind of change it up a little bit."
One hundred and fifty lucky fans got to watch the two-hour club show, which took place just hours after Grohl and drummer Taylor Hawkins attended the funeral of SOUNDGARDEN singer Chris Cornell in Los Angeles.
The Blue Note and BottleRock shows were the first official FOO FIGHTERS concerts in the U.S. in two years, although the band did play a brief benefit gig earlier this year. The band has yet to schedule more U.S. shows for 2017. 2

DREAM THEATER’s James LaBrie Says They “Have A Lot Of Ideas Ready” For A New Studio AlbumDream Theater singer James LaBrie spoke with Hungary’s Rockbook recently about a number of topics. A few excerpts from the chat follow:
Rockbook: Images and Words is a definite masterpiece and an absolute favorite amongst the fans. Why do you think it’s such an important album?
James LaBrie: “It was the album that really put us on the map internationally. They had an album before called When Dream and Day Unite, and they had some critical acclaim, so the press knew that they were an entity. But it was Images and Words that gave us the platform to create what we want after that. And throughout the years, no matter what album we were touring with, everybody got excited when they heard songs from Images and Words. And also it’s been recognized by all the artists, musicians and press in the progressive scene. So it’s in the history books, for sure. And it’s amazing because we only did what we wanted to do in order to express ourselves and fortunately for us it became a success.”
Rockbook: Are you already in the writing process for the new album?
James: “No, we’re just planting seeds for now. We’re just putting some stuff together but it’s pretty cool what’s happening. The real nuts and bolts aren’t gonna happen until we’re done touring. Then we will go to a studio and be together every day just to write songs. But we have a lot of ideas already.”
Rockbook: The Astonishing, the last Dream Theater album was a concept album. Are you planning to do another one in the future?
James: “If we will, it’s not gonna be anytime soon. I mean, we waited for like 17 years between Scenes from a Memory and The Astonishing. I don’t wanna wait another 17 years! (laughs) I think I’ll do my farewell tour in 17 years! (laughs) I think for now it’s best for us to concentrate one album at a time and not thinking in a concept. Unless we wanna write an epic song that has multiple parts in it. Doing something like that might be cool. Something like A Change of Seasons. But a whole album again, no.”

ADAGIO Unveil "Darkness Machine" VideoParis-based progressive metal band Adagio will release their new album, Life, on July 26th. However, the video for "Darkness Machine" can be enjoyed now:
Taking their time to create their unique and highly personal fifth full-length album, Life, it has been seven years since Adagio’s last studio release, Archangels In Black.
"The impetus behind the band’s dormancy spanning almost a decade was our commitment to doing justice to our material," says guitarist Stéphan Forté. "To release the album in an incomplete or premature state would be a disservice to the music, the band, and most of all, to the fans."
With Life, Adagio pushes the experience past just music, plunging the listener into a powerful introspective experience. "Fear, joy, sorrow, love, pain, ecstasy... What if we could visit each of these emotions like exhibits in a museum? ‘Life’ takes you on contemplative journey, exploring the complex yet beautiful contortions of the subconscious mind." Each track is like a portrait in a gallery giving the audience a glimpse into the minds of the band members.
Stylistically, Life brings Adagio back to their progressive roots while expanding their musical boundaries. From the heavy "Subrahmanya" which is available as the first single now, and which combines traditional Eastern Ethnic and Djent influences, to the dark and mesmerizing "I'll Possess You," Life is an epic canvas of atmospheres which will take the listener back to the ethereal places they had once visited but never managed to find again.
This album features several lineup changes for Adagio. Life marks the return of singer Kelly "Sundown" Carpenter, who had previously performed live vocals for the band. It also brings us the new addition violinist Mayline, adding new ethnic textures and dimensions to the band’s sound.
Life will be released on July 26th; pre-order it here. The first single "Subrahmanya" is available for streaming now officially via the band's Facebook page (listen below). The single is also available from the Zeta Nemesis store.
Adagio lineup:
Kelly Sundown - Singer
Stéphan Forté - Guitar
Franck Hermanny - Bass
Kevin Codfert - Keyboards
Guillaume Bergiron - Drums
Mayline - Violin 3

MICHAEL MONROE Live At Wacken Open Air 2016; Video Of Full Show StreamingHanoi Rocks singer Michael Monroe performed at Germany’s Wacken Open Air festival in the summer of 2016. Video footage of the full performance is available for streaming below.
Setlist:
“This Ain't No Love Song”
“Old King's Road”
“Trick Of The Wrist”
“'78”
“Ballad Of The Lower East Side”
“Man With No Eyes”
“Malibu Beach Nightmare”
“Nothing's Alright”
“Hammersmith Palais”
“Goin' Down With The Ship”
“Tragedy”
“Dead, Jail Or Rock'n'Roll”
In the leather-bound history of heartfelt rock 'n' roll, not only will Michael Monroe have at least one chapter all to himself. But his name will be colourfully threaded throughout, such has been his impact, his appeal, and his ongoing never-surrender story; a powerful, inspirational tale told in detail on The Best - the first official collection of his (ongoing) solo musical exploits, featuring prime tracks from 1987 right up to 2017. It arrives June 30th via Spinefarm.
"This album is a great representation of my 30-year solo career, including four songs from the Little Steven-produced Demolition 23 album, which has been unavailable for over 20 years, plus some special rarities and previously unreleased bonus tracks."
Icon, song-writer, multi-instrumentalist, media personality, flamboyant force of nature, and one of rock's most celebrated and uber-kinetic frontmen, Michael has been a name and a (much-photographed) face on the scene since 1979, when he played a central role in the formation of Hanoi Rocks - the legendary Finnish glam-punk heroes who came within a rolling paper's width of taking the world by glitter-storm.
Were it not for cruel and fickle fate, Hanoi - who disbanded for the first time in 1985, then finally in 2009 - might have ended up as an arena act. But whatever obstacles were thrust in their path, they were never less than the real deal, and major names like Guns N' Roses were ready to acknowledge their influence and their worth. G N' R would go on to issue the European Hanoi catalogue in the U.S. via their Uzi Suicide imprint.
Over his three-decades-plus in the spotlight, Monroe has befriended and performed with a whole host of artists and acts, including the aforementioned Guns N' Roses and Slash; Lemmy, Alice Cooper, Aerosmith, Little Steven, and Ian Hunter.
The frontman has shared stages and studios with them all, but since that first break-up of Hanoi in the mid-'80s, he's essentially been pursuing his own path, and it's this solo activity that forms the basis of The Best. It's almost two hours' worth of career-spanning music, re-mastered by Svante Forsback and sequenced by the great man himself.
As well as key, high-profile numbers such as "Dead, Jail Or Rock 'N' Roll" (from second solo album, 1989's Not Fakin' It, the promo clip for which features an onstage cameo from Axl Rose) and "'78" (from 2011's Sensory Overdrive), this two-CD set also showcases some "from the vaults" moments for collectors and completists, with bonus tracks and previously unreleased songs strategically placed to make the journey both scenic and surprising.
"There's a couple of extra special tracks like 'It's A Lie,' sung as a duet with Stiv Bators (Dead Boys, Lords Of The New Church) back in 1985, and a never-before-released second version of the Steppenwolf cover 'Magic Carpet Ride,' featuring Slash, left over from the Coneheads soundtrack project that Slash did with me in 1993. And since Slash has the biggest heart of gold in rock 'n' roll, he was kind enough to allow me to use it on this album. God bless him!," said Monroe.
Two other previously unreleased songs are "Fist Fulla Dynamite" and "Simpletown," outtakes from the Blackout States album (2015); plus there's the new single "One Foot Outta The Grave" - an anthem of pure defiance - to bring things nicely up to date, showing the artist's continued commitment to a genre.

QUEEN - Vintage “Put Out The Fire” Guitar Tutorial From BRIAN MAY StreamingIn 1983, Star Licks Productions created a series of instructional videos featuring well-known musicians demonstrating their unique musical styles and techniques. The portfolio debuted with a wide-ranging group of players including Steve Lukather of Toto, Black Sabbath’s Tony Iommi, guitarist Albert Lee, and acclaimed guitarist/educator Wolf Marshall.
In one of the videos, Queen’s Brian May discussed his equipment and techniques, and demonstrates a number of his guitar solos. He covers both famous and lesser known Queen songs, including “Brighton Rock”, “Tie Your Mother Down”, “Somebody To Love”, “It's Late”, “Dead On Time”, “Put Out The Fire”, “It's A Hard Life”, “Keep Yourself Alive”, “Jesus”, “Father To Son” and “Crazy Little Thing Called Love”.
Watch a clip featuring “Put Out The Fire” below.
The programme was produced and directed by Mark Freed and Robert Decker, and recorded at Sarm West, London, England. The video was originally released in 1983 and later reissued in 1993/4.
Note from Brian: “Mark initially came to me with an idea for making audio cassettes of guitarists explaining their techniques. It seemed a good one and we arranged to meet and make it happen. But I said ... if we’re going to the trouble of recording this stuff, why not film it as well, and make it into a Video Cassette ?! So we made a ‘pilot’ video, and people liked it, and this became the template for a whole collection of videos which, I think, stand up very well to this day. Maybe we should do an update?!”
