On May 10, Swedish atmospheric goth rock metal band TIAMAT gave a special concert at Kägelbanan in Stockholm, Sweden during which it performed mainly songs from its acclaimed classic albums "Clouds" (1992) and "Wildhoney" (1994).

TIAMAT's tenth studio album, "The Scarred People", was released in 2012. The disc was recorded at Woodhouse Studios in Hagen, Germany with producer Siggi Bemm. The CD cover artwork was created by TIAMAT mainman Johan Edlund.

In an interview with Metal Underground, Edlund stated about the musical direction of "The Scarred People": "We're happy being TIAMAT; that's the only label we put on ourselves. In fact, TIAMAT is by far our own biggest influence. We often quote ourselves, what we've done in the past, when needed in the studio. There are a lot of elements both in the music and in the lyrics that we have developed over the years that feel genuinely TIAMAT, be it a clean electric guitar sound, a special way of drum patterns, certain ways to express lyrics. We often go back there and sample ourselves, so to speak."

Dave Mustaine played a surprise acoustic set for fans outside his hotel in Mendoza, Argentina on May 10. The MEGADETH leader was in town for a few days of relaxation, as well as visits to local wineries, after playing a couple of shows in Mexico earlier in the month.

When Mustaine's presence in Mendoza was revealed by the local media on May 9, many MEGADETH fans gathered at the door of the Park Hyatt hotel to get a glimpse of their idol. Dave eventually came out, armed with an acoustic guitar that was provided by Felipe Staiti, guitarist of LOS ENANITOS VERDES, and began playing on the hotel's steps.

MEGADETH has a number of European shows lined up in June and July before tentatively entering the studio later in the year to begin recording the follow-up to 2016's "Dystopia" album.

The band's upcoming effort will mark MEGADETH's first release to feature drummer Dirk Verbeuren, who officially joined the group just under two years ago.

BMG will reissue three classic albums from British heavy metal legends SAXON on May 25: "Denim And Leather", "Power & The Glory" and "Crusader".

SAXON, over the decades, has gone from being pioneers of the New Wave Of British Heavy Metal to becoming one of the most successful U.K. rock acts of all time.

The truth, though, is that SAXON has always transcended trends and eras. From 1979's "Saxon" album to new album "Thunderbolt", the band has enjoyed considerable success. Five Top 40 albums in the U.K., with four Top 20 singles. And they were similarly successful in other parts of the world as well.

It's no wonder their influence spread across the globe and played a crucial role in the way we look at hard rock and heavy metal today.

The albums will be made available on colored splatter vinyl for the first time and include album lyrics, rare photos and memorabilia.

The CD copies will include a 24-page media book and feature rare demos, remixes and live recordings.

SAXON's fourth album, "Denim And Leather" was originally released on October 5, 1981. It was recorded at Aquarius Studios in Geneva. Arguably SAXON's most successful record to date, it spawned the classic singles "Princess Of The Night", "Never Surrender" and the song "And The Band's Played On", which was inspired by their appearance at the inaugural Monsters Of Rock festival in 1980. This edition contains the B-sides of the "Never Surrender" single and seven live tracks recorded on the "Denim And Leather" tour of 1981.

SAXON's fifth album, "Power And The Glory" was originally released on March 21, 1983 and was produced by Jeff Glixman at Axis Sound Studios in Atlanta. The album spawned two singles, "Nightmare" and the title track, "Power And The Glory", and also marked the replacement of drummer Pete Gill with Nigel Glockler, who remains a member of SAXON to this day. This version contains early working demos of songs from the album, recorded in 1982, including tracks that didn't make the final track listing.

Originally released on April 16, 1984, SAXON's sixth album, "Crusader", was produced by Kevin Beamish at the legendary Sound City Studios in Los Angeles. It featured the band's first recorded cover song, a version of THE SWEET's "Set Me Free", and the singles "Sailing To America", "Just Let Me Rock" and "Do It All For You". This version includes early working versions of some of the songs featured on the album and also the songs "Borderline" and "Helter Skelter" that didn't make the final track listing of "Crusader".

Mike Patton's (FAITH NO MORE, DEAD CROSS) expanded score to the Stephen King-sourced Netflix film "1922" sees a July 20 release via Ipecac Recordings.

"1922 (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack)" is available for pre-orders, with the collection available digitally and physically on both CD and hardwood colored vinyl. Pre-orders receive an instant download of "Sweetheart Bandits 2 'We All Get Caught'".

"1922" is based on Stephen King's 131-page story, telling of a man's confession of his wife's murder. The tale is told from the perspective of Wilfred James, the story's unreliable narrator who admits to killing his wife, Arlette, with his son in Nebraska. But after he buries her body, he finds himself terrorized by rats and, as his life begins to unravel, becomes convinced his wife is haunting him.

The release serves as Patton's scoring follow-up to his critically acclaimed composition to "The Place Beyond The Pines", a musical outing that Pitchfork said served as "the glue uniting the film's three disparate sections and many different tones" and Movie Music UK said Patton offered an "intelligent way of arranging his collages of sounds into fascinating musical effects."

Def Leppard Pale is what happens when a mega British rock band collides with an American craft brewery. Both fanatics of their craft, DEF LEPPARD and Elysian Brewing are excited to blend their worlds together, music and beer.

The beer was brewed to fuse the infamous malt bodies of British ales with the mysteria of Pacific Northwest hops. Def Leppard Pale will be unleashed for the massive co-headlining DEF LEPPARD and JOURNEY 2018 tour. The beer will be on sale starting May 23 (the second tour stop at Times Union Center in Albany, New York) and is available in 16oz cans and on draught at most concert venues and select restaurants, bars and pubs near the venue. The can was designed in tribute to the 30th anniversary of DEF LEPPARD's landmark album "Hysteria".

"It tastes great — that's the most important thing I can tell you," DEF LEPPARD singer Joe Elliott tells Billboard. "I would pass on doing an interview about this if I didn't like it. That to me is the most important thing."

As for whether Def Leppard Pale will have a life beyond the JOURNEY tour, Elliott says: "There's no cut-off time on this. If it takes off and people like it, it can be around. IRON MAIDEN has a beer named Trooper and they've done really well with theirs. We have to see if we can match that. It’s been around five years or so by now, so there's a long way to go to keep up with them and all these other people [with branded alcohol such as] Jimmy Buffett. We don't know what kind of legs it's going to have — come back to me in a couple years on that one, I'm not gazing into a crystal ball right now."

According to YLE, METALLICA has donated 25,000 euros to the Veikko and Lahja Hursti Charitable Trust, a charitable organization in Finland that arranges food and events for the needy. The donation is part of the band's All Within My Hands Foundation, which aims to assist and enrich the lives of members of the communities who have supported the band for years, as well as encourage participation from fans and friends. All funds raised by the foundation are donated to a cross-section of national and local charities.

A longtime advocate of local food banks, METALLICA has donated proceeds from ticket sales from past concert tours to food charities in several countries.

METALLICA made the donation to Veikko and Lahja Hursti Charitable Trust when it was in Finland to play two concerts in Helsinki at the Hartwall Arena on May 9 and May 11.

The gift came as a complete surprise to Heikki Hursti, the head of the charity.

"We are still in shock. My daughter and I just met the band and we took a photo together," he said.

Hursti said that when the members of METALLICA learned they would be playing in Finland, they started looking for a suitable organization to support.

"They got our contact information somehow and told us they wanted to make a donation," Hursti said.

Founded in February 2017, All Within My Hands Foundation is a public non-profit organization dedicated to creating sustainable communities by supporting workforce education, the fight against hunger, and other critical local services.

THE PRETTY RECKLESS frontwoman Taylor Momsen has paid tribute to Chris Cornell, nearly one year after the SOUNDGARDEN singer's shocking death.

Cornell was found hanged in a Detroit hotel room last May 18 after a SOUNDGARDEN concert earlier that night.

Momsen, whose band THE PRETTY RECKLESS was the opening act for SOUNDGARDEN's spring 2017 run of dates, took to her Instagram account on Thursday (May 10) to reflect back to one of the first days of the tour. She wrote: "A year ago today was a day I will never forget. I was sitting outside our dressing room in Indianapolis, when I heard someone say, 'Taylor?' I looked up to see a man standing there, with the sun blazing behind him. He looked familiar... and then my heart dropped, because it was Chris Cornell. I'd met him a couple times before in passing, but here he was, actually talking to me. We hung out for a while chatting about things like singing and their record 'King Animal' and how much I loved it. Later that night, after we played our show opening for them, we were watching their set from behind the stage when he started talking into the mic, and my heart dropped again when I heard him say our band's name...twice. He dedicated 'By Crooked Steps' to us and we all were as happy as we could ever be. It was magical."

Taylor went on to say that THE PRETTY RECKLESS's longtime producer Kato Khandwala, who died last month from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident, "was with us that night [in Indianapolis] sharing the experience."

Despite the tragic deaths of her collaborator and her musical idol, Momsen said that THE PRETTY RECKLESS will carry on.

"We have lost so much this year and it has put our passion for music to the test, but as humans, we are all built to handle this pain" she said. "It will make us stronger, and we will return, because the music will always live on."

Chris was found hanged in his room at the MGM Grand Detroit hotel. His body was found soon after he had spoken with a "slurred" voice to his wife, Vicky, by phone. The death was ruled a suicide.

But his family has questioned the medical examiner's ruling, saying that he had a prescription for Ativan and that a higher than recommended dosage may have caused him to experience suicidal thoughts.

According to The Pulse Of Radio, LINKIN PARK singer Mike Shinoda played his first solo shows since the death of the band's co-vocalist, Chester Bennington, on Saturday (May 12) at the KROQ Weenie Roast in Los Angeles and Sunday (May 13) at the Identity LA festival, also in L.A. Shinoda mashed up some LINKIN PARK songs along with his solo material, singing some of Chester Bennington's parts from songs like "Bleed It Out". He played "In The End" on piano and let the fans sing most of Chester's vocal parts, though at times he came in and sang his parts.

Shinoda's set at the Identity LA festival was nearly twice as long since he was headlining and featured a guest appearance from LINKIN PARK DJ Joe Hahn during the song "Castle Of Glass". Shinoda and Hahn last performed together at LINKIN PARK's Chester Bennington memorial show at the Hollywood Bowl in October 2017.

Shinoda will release a new solo album, titled "Post Traumatic", on June 15.

He has revealed that DEFTONES frontman Chino Moreno and rapper Machine Gun Kelly are among the guests who appear on the LP.

Shinoda has said that he wants LINKIN PARK to continue, but that he isn't sure how the band would go about doing that at this point in time.

25 years since the release of ENCHANT's debut album, "A Blueprint Of The World", the San Francisco-formed progressive rock/metal group will celebrate with a special limited 10-CD box set compiling all of its studio albums, from the aforementioned debut right up to 2014's "The Great Divide".

Out on July 20, the package also features two discs of bonus tracks that include a selection of demo versions, live tracks, acoustic versions and instrumentals, plus extensive liner notes covering the entirety of the band's career up to now, and brand new interviews with various members past and present.

Snider told the New Jersey radio station 90.3 WMSC-FM, about "For The Love Of Metal": "This is a really exciting album I did not expect to make, especially at this point in my life. I was doing Jamey Jasta's podcast, and he challenged me to make a contemporary rock record. And I was, like, 'Who's producing?' He said, 'I am.' And so we went in the studio [with] no record deal, and people started flocking [to appear on the LP]. It just amazed me, the enthusiasm and excitement that these younger musicians — younger than me, at least — had for working with Dee Snider and being a part of this project."

Dee went on to say that "the album turned out phenomenal," so much so that "we had a bidding war from all the major metal labels," he said. "As Jamey would say, it is hard. It harkens back to my earliest work with TWISTED SISTER, but it's very contemporary sounding with my voice. And people are astounded, actually, that I still have a very strong, very powerful, and as Jamey says, an important, iconic rock voice. So I'm very excited about this album."


Jasta previously described the LP as a "full-on metal album," adding that "people are gonna lose their minds when they hear this." He also called Dee "one of the best vocalists of our time" whose "voice is up there with Ozzy [Osbourne], [Ronnie James] Dio, [Bruce] Dickinson and [Rob] Halford to me. "And it's as powerful as ever!" he said.

"Although this album will be very heavy, the songs are anthemic and will fit well in his solo set with 'We're Not Gonna Take It', 'I Wanna Rock', 'Burn In Hell', 'We Are The Ones', 'So What' and others," Jamey promised.

Snider's last solo album, "We Are The Ones", was released in October 2016 via Red River Records. Produced by Damon Ranger, the disc was described by Dee as "an album that is think part FOO FIGHTERS, part IMAGINE DRAGONS, part THIRTY SECONDS TO MARS."

REDEMPTION, the U.S. progressive metal band led by guitarist/songwriter Nick Van Dyk, will release its seventh full-length album, "Long Night's Journey Into Day", on July 27 via Metal Blade. The disc was produced by Jacob Hansen (VOLBEAT, PRIMAL FEAR, AMARANTHE, DORO).

The follow-up to 2016's "The Art Of Loss", which Van Dyk counts amongst REDEMPTION's very best, "Long Night's Journey Into Day" is inarguably the sound of a band at the height of its powers. As followers of REDEMPTION are also aware, it is the first full-length since the departure of vocalist Ray Alder, and features the debut of EVERGREY vocalist Tom Englund.

"We were unable to tour 'The Art Of Loss' because Ray was not able to actively participate in REDEMPTION any longer, so we decided it was time to part company shortly after its release," says Van Dyk. "Ray is a dear friend, and I have nothing but respect and love for him and what we created together. But at some point, it just became untenable."

Of course, Alder's shoes were not exactly going to be easy to fill, and it was essential that his successor be someone who would immediately command respect, as well as somebody who could exceed expectations when it came to performance. Moreover, it was integral that they had someone who could fully invest in the lyrical themes concerning the human condition, which have always been central to REDEMPTION. So, the fact that from the beginning of his career Englund has penned lyrics about feelings of doubt, fear and despair with an unshakable emotional authenticity made him the perfect choice.

"Because of the power of his voice and the emotion he brings, this isn't going to be a shocking transition for fans," says Van Dyk. "Tom's also a very versatile vocalist, and being a songwriter, he has a tremendous melodic and compositional sensibility, and on top of that, we've known each other for many years, and there is a level of not just professional respect but personal friendship to it all."

Guitarists Chris Poland (MEGADETH, OHM:) and Simone Mularoni (DGM) return as guest musicians. When it came to backing up the music with visuals, the band once again turned to a longtime collaborator, Travis Smith, whose humbling resumé includes records by bands such as ACT OF DEFIANCE, OPETH and ICED EARTH.

LION'S SHARE and ASTRAL DOORS singer Nils Patrik Johansson has released another song, "How The West Was Won", from his upcoming debut solo album. Titled "Evil Deluxe", the disc will be released on May 25 via the German label Metalville.

"I have thought about a solo album for ten years, but then CIVIL WAR came into the picture and I used all my ideas for the three albums that we did" Nils Patrik reveals. "After my departure from them, I felt that I wanted to focus 100 percent on ASTRAL DOORS and LION'S SHARE. But all of a sudden inspiration came back — and from out of nowhere, I had 10 new killer songs. It felt natural to hire my LION'S SHARE bandmate Lars Chriss as producer and guitar player. My son Fredrik Johansson plays drums on the record, so finally father and son Johansson will appear on the same album."

Canadian metal trio CAULDRON will release its new album, "New Gods", on September 7 via The End Records (North America) and Dissonance Productions (Europe).

For the follow-up to their critically acclaimed 2016 album "In Ruin", Jason Decay (lead vocals, bass), Ian Chains (guitar) and Myles Deck (drums), along with producer Chris Stringer, honed and recorded the songs at Union Sound in Toronto.

CAULDRON's fifth full-length studio record, "New Gods" once again promises a strong emphasis on songwriting and melody, complete with high-end organic production to match.

"We have always prioritized songwriting above anything else," says Decay. "For me personally, I have always felt more confident writing than as a 'musician,' and for the first time I think we have found the production that best suits our songs."

"I am very proud of the songwriting, performances and production on this one, and it is definitely the most confident I have been in a finished album of ours. It is dark, it's heavy and it has a very melodic sense of AOR. Most importantly, it still sounds very CAULDRON. I'm pretty sure people who were into 'In Ruin' will like this one just as much, if not more."

HOLLYWOOD VAMPIRES, the supergroup featuring international film star and musician Johnny Depp alongside Alice Cooper and AEROSMITH's Joe Perry, will embark on a U.K. tour in June. Support at all four shows will come from THE DARKNESS and THE DAMNED.

Cooper told the Evening Standard that fans will be shocked when they hear Depp play guitar.

"He's not new to playing on stage," Alice said. "People are going to be very surprised when they hear him play, because they know him as Jack Sparrow.

"When they see a guitar in his band, they going to say, 'Wait a minute! I didn't have any idea he could play like that.' He's a real guitar player. I wouldn't be working with anybody that wasn't as good as anybody I've worked with normally.

"Last year, we were testing the waters to see if people were even going to be interested in what we were doing, and we found that they were; we got great reactions and sold out quite a few places. I think a lot of that might have been out of curiosity — Joe Perry, Johnny Depp and Alice Cooper; what a weird combination."

During the 1970s in the upstairs bar of the Rainbow Bar & Grill on the Sunset Strip in Hollywood, the "Hollywood Vampires" were born. It was a gathering place where celebrated artists such as John Lennon, Keith Moon, Jim Morrison, Alice Cooper, Harry Nilsson and countless others would meet and drink into the early morning hours, and the club became legendary.

Back in 2012, Cooper and Depp decided the time was right to revive the camaraderie and spirit that defined Hollywood Vampires" (minus the drinking), creating an environment for great artists to hang, laugh and play together. Cooper and Depp were joined by Perry, along with producer Bob Ezrin, and soon the recording began. The band's debut album, "Hollywood Vampires", was released in September 2015.

Legendary hard rock vocalist Joe Lynn Turner's SUNSTORM project will release its fifth album, "The Road To Hell", on June 8 via Frontiers Music Srl. The official lyric video for the second single from the effort, the "The Road To Hell" title track, can be seen below.


Any hardcore fan of hard rock will certainly be no stranger to the story of Joe Lynn Turner's career. From his early days with FANDANGO to his successful stints fronting RAINBOW, DEEP PURPLE and Yngwie Malmsteen and through his heralded solo career, the New Jersey-born singer has had his vocal talents on display for decades now.

Turner says: "The key to a great song is in the writing, performance, melody and lyrics. Anyone who loves melodic hard rock will not be disappointed with the first song! Personally, I love the positive message that it conveys to the listener... and the chorus is extremely memorable... The music is tight and compelling and played brilliantly. Turn it up loud and enjoy a great kick off to a rocking summer!"

Years ago, Turner got in touch with Frontiers president Serafino Perugino and after discussions between the two, the idea of unearthing some classic melodic rock gems to craft the definitive Joe Lynn Turner AOR album came about. This brought about the release of the first SUNSTORM album in 2006, and then came "House of Dreams" in 2009, "Emotional Fire" in 2012, and the definitively more hard-rocking "Edge Of Tomorrow" in 2016.

The new album, "Road To Hell", once again featuring production from HARDLINE's Alessandro Del Vecchio and guitars by DGM's Simone Mularoni, continues in the same hard rock direction that was started on "Edge Of Tomorrow" and that JLT's vocal talents shine so brightly in when performing this style.

Joe Lynn Turner recently canceled a number of European live shows so that he could fully recover from a heart attack he suffered in early April.

Swedish melodic metallers AMARANTHE have completed work on their fifth album at Hansen Studios in Ribe, Denmark with producer Jacob Hansen (VOLBEAT, EPICA, DELAIN). The follow-up to 2016's "Maximalism" will mark the band's first release with DYNAZTY's Nils Molin, who officially joined AMARANTHE in July 2017 as the replacement for Jake E.

Commented guitarist Olof Mörck: "With a newborn album, it is easy for an artist to fall into hyperbole and rants of how it is the best thing you have ever done — but for the first time, I can confidently say that this album very certainly the best and strongest of our entire career. Soon enough, you will get to hear for yourself and judge. Now, time to leave Denmark behind and, after two months, return HOME!!"

Added vocalist Elize Ryd: "I have loved every second to write, create and making this album. I can't wait to reveal the name of our fifth baby, let it loose into the world to live its own life and spread the message all by itself. It feels to me already like the most strong and confident child of ours. The support has been important, and I'm so grateful to everyone involved."

Having previously used Chris Adam Hedman Sörbye from the band SMASH INTO PIECES as a stand-in for Jake on some of the shows in 2016 and in early 2017, AMARANTHE recruited Molin for three Swedish concerts in March 2017 and he has been part of the group's live appearances ever since.

Jake E announced his departure from AMARANTHE in February 2017, explaining at the time that he began to feel that "my place both on the albums and live was reduced; I felt like I was superfluous… I started to feel more like a backing singer." He has since launched a new band called CYHRA with former IN FLAMES members Peter Iwers (bass) and Jesper Strömblad (guitar) alongside LUCA TURILLI'S RHAPSODY drummer Alex Landenburg.

Reactivated Bay Area melodic death metal outfit LIGHT THIS CITY has released the official video for the song "Agents Of Fate". The track is taken from the band's upcoming fifth LP, and first in a decade, "Terminal Bloom", which will be released on CD, LP, and digital formats on May 25 through drummer Ben Murray's Creator-Destructor Records.

The "Agents Of Fate" clip was directed and edited by Shane Henry and it captures the band crushing one of the album's heaviest tracks in an intense, high-action, low-light setting.

LIGHT THIS CITY returns with ten blazing tracks that capture the band's tendency towards extreme melody and intensity, honoring the Swedish sound of the '90s.

Having spent the past decade performing and touring in numerous other bands, the five members of LIGHT THIS CITY have only honed and shaped their skills and musicianship since their 2008 effort "Stormchaser".

Oregon trio YOB will release its eighth album, "Our Raw Heart", on June 8 via Relapse Records. The disc was co-produced by the band and Billy Barnett at Gung Ho Studio in Eugene, Oregon, with mastering handled by Heba Kadry (THE MARS VOLTA, DIAMANDA GALAS, SLOWDIVE).

"The album title hit me early that year, so I knew the lyrics would be informed by it," singer/guitar player Mike Scheidt said. Though he declined to go into specifics — he'd rather the listener interpret the lyrics for their own unique experience — Scheidt does want to stress the collective nature of the title. "So many people came to my aid while I was recovering," a reference to his harrowing medical journey which he discussed recently with Rolling Stone. "It almost seems trite to say it was humbling, but I felt this heightened state of support and connection to people around the world who gave to me in many different ways so I could keep my head above water—whether it was encouragement, financial support or spiritual support."

YOB's most recent release, "Clearing The Path To Ascend", was one of 2014's most heralded releases, with Rolling Stone saying the music "makes perfect bedfellows of volume and beauty, pain and transcendence." TRILLIUM, the metal project launched by American-born, Dutch-based singer/songwriter Amanda Somerville, will release its sophomore album, "Tectonic", on June 8 via Frontiers Music Srl.

Amanda's husband and musical collaborator Sander Gommans (AFTER FOREVER, HDK) stated about "Tectonic": "Writing, producing and mixing this album together with Amanda Somerville was an intense (three kids were born in between) but very fulfilling experience. Having AFTER FOREVER's André Borgman back on drums was a huge bonus for me!"

Added Amanda: "Where [TRILLIUM debut album] 'Alloy' was rather dark and moody and restless, 'Tectonic' is on the whole more uplifting and full of strength and character, though it's just as full of emotion.

"My life was shaken up by figurative earthquakes through several elements shifting in recent years and that's what this album represents. It's a challenge to make an album that's musically heavy without being dragged down by melancholy, but that's what Sander and I set out to do from the beginning and it worked out beautifully!"

Amanda continued: "The core and essence of 'Tectonic' is very personal and comes, basically, from the hearts and minds of a singer and a guitar player and I think that's very apparent when you listen to the songs. Sander and I didn't want to overthink things and over-complicate the songs. There's definitely some bombast in there because we both have a love of keyboard arrangements, but they don't rule the roost here. Also, the only guest performances are by good friends from my hometown in Flint, Michigan who also played live with me solo and with TRILLIUM, and also some great mates and colleagues of Sander's, so it's really a 'family' kind of album. We tried to keep things simple, and yet I think it's anything but low key!"

Somerville is well known for her collaborations with various high-profile European metal bands like AVANTASIA, EPICA, KAMELOT and AFTER FOREVER, to name a few. And let's not forget her musical partnership with HELLOWEEN vocalist Michael Kiske under the KISKE/SOMERVILLE banner. With a vocal range from tenor to soprano and a stylistically diverse singing ability, Somerville's voice is well suited for multiple styles, but TRILLIUM is firmly in the metal genre.

TRILLIUM released its debut album, "Alloy", in November 2011 via Frontiers. The CD was described in a press release as "a collection of songs that's charged with emotion and exploration and a very personal statement from Amanda."

According to DISTURBED bassist John Moyer, the band has finished recording its new album The Hideout Recording Studio in Las Vegas, Nevada with producer Kevin Churko.

Moyer broke the news by posting an Instagram photo of him, Churko, drummer Mike Wengren and guitarist Dan Donegan at a restaurant, along with the caption: "Celebratory dinner! New @disturbed album tracking done!! Missing @davidmdraiman with @kevin.churko @dandonegan @mikewengren"

Frontman David Draiman said in a new behind-the-scenes video that DISTURBED goes to "war" each time it makes a new album to make sure it's the best it can be. Draiman explained: "You fight for the strength of your creation, you fight to make the greatest thing you possibly can, and it's worth every minute, it's worth every bit of sweat, it's worth every tear. So that's what we live for."

He added: "Every time we put out a piece of art, it continues to define who we are. What could possibly be more important than that and require more of your focus and your time and your energy."

Donegan told The Pulse Of Radio a while back that the band doesn't like to waste time in the studio. "I mean, we definitely go in there very prepared," he said. "We never enter the studio unless we feel like, right now, if these are the songs we record, that we would have an album that we're proud of and we're excited about. And we put everything under the microscope and examine it the best we can to make sure that we're prepared. We don't like going in there wasting time. We go in there to work, and to try to make the best album we can."

The new disc will follow up 2015's "Immortalized", which ended a four-year hiatus for the quartet and was its fifth album to enter the Billboard 200 chart at No. 1.

"Immortalized" featured the band's cover of SIMON & GARFUNKEL's "The Sound Of Silence", a massive hit that introduced DISTURBED to new audiences.

Rob Zombie has completed recording his new album for a tentative early 2019 release.

Last summer, Rob and his bandmates commenced work on the follow-up to 2016's "The Electric Warlock Acid Witch Satanic Orgy Celebration Dispenser", which was the second consecutive effort to feature Zombie and guitarist John 5 alongside bassist Piggy D. and drummer Ginger Fish. In the meantime, the group continued to play sporadic shows, with Zombie scheduled to kick off a 29-date North American summer tour with Marilyn Manson on July 11. Rob also started shooting his next movie, "3 From Hell", a sequel to his 2005 horror hit "The Devil's Rejects".

During a recent appearance on the "Trunk Nation" show on SiriusXM channel Volume (106), Rob offered an update on his next album, saying: "We basically more or less finished the record before I started the movie. We haven't mixed it yet and we haven't put the final touches on it, but it's pretty far along… We're actually gonna start mixing the record in June, just before the tour [with Marilyn Manson] starts, hopefully finish it — I don't know if I will — go on tour, come back, then [edit] the movie."

Predicting that "the record and the movie will probably drop around the same time" early next year, Rob said that it is still "incredibly important" for him to make new music with his band. "I think people that think it isn't important have lost the idea of why they're in a band in the first place.

"For us, in a funny way, it seems like nothing ever changes," he continued. "Thirty years later, here we are, in some crappy rehearsal space that's too loud, going deaf, playing music… We never change anything. We don't decorate our dressing rooms; we just want it to be the same. If you looked at us in a dressing room ten years ago, twenty years ago, it never changes. 'Cause there's something about remembering why you're doing it. We have one bus, we all jam together, we don't separate, we all stay in the same dressing room, we all eat together. It's a band, and we do everything like a band. And making a record is important, I think, because we try as hard as we can with every record to make a great record; that's what we do. Is it like the days where you could sell three million and it's on MTV every five minutes? No. But it's different too. At the same time, you go, 'Okay, well, a couple of million people watched this on YouTube.' None of these old records got spun a million times on MTV. It's just how you approach it."

Rob added: "On the last record, we made more videos than we've ever made for any record, we promoted it heavier, and the new songs connect in the set just as good as the old songs; people don't leave. But at the same time, maybe people that have been fans for 30 years go, 'Ah, I don't know the new songs,' but the front row that look like they're about 14 know the new songs. So, to me, it's, like, you just have to keep trying to reinvigorate your fanbase. You don't wanna go just shit out some record [and go] 'Oh, nobody cares.' They're only gonna care as much as you care, I believe. And if it looks like we put a lot of work into everything and we care and we promote it, people get onboard. It always works. I mean, our set is filled with songs from every single record and they all seem to work just as good. But you have to slowly introduce 'em, get people onboard, like anything else. Because, of course, someone's not gonna like a new song as much as some song they've been listening to for 25 years."

Zombie went on to say: "I feel so many bands just throw their hands up in the air and go, 'It's not worth it anymore.' Well, it could be, if you changed your attitude and went in and felt like, 'Let's make the greatest record humanly possible.' I don't understand why artists have to decide, oh, their best days are always behind them. It's always behind them. It's how they always talk. Or they can blame everything — they blame the Internet, they blame the crowd, they blame this. In the '80s, everyone blamed MTV. I remember hearing all the guys [saying], 'Oh, man. We don't wanna make videos. We're not video stars.' And it was, like, 'Jesus Christ, man. Just do your thing and stop crying.'"

While rock radio has largely stopped playing his newer records, fans are continuing to embrace new music from Rob Zombie. The week of its release, "The Electric Warlock Acid Witch Satanic Orgy Celebration Dispenser" debuted at No. 6 on the Billboard album chart and was the only rock record in the top 30. It would have been No. 4, if two previously released Prince albums weren't near the top of the chart.

Several of Zombie's singles from "The Electric Warlock Acid Witch Satanic Orgy Celebration Dispenser", including "In The Age Of The Consecrated Vampire We All Get High" and "Well, Everybody's Fucking In A U.F.O.", were accompanied by their respective attention-grabbing videos, a trend that is likely to continue with the upcoming effort.

As Italian epic metallers Vultures Vengeance prepare to record their first full-length this summer, the band will further whet their fans' appetite by releasing the "Lyrids: Warning From The Reign Of Untold" 7" in September via Gates Of Hell Records, a sub-label of Cruz Del Sur Music.

Featuring two leftover songs from their 2016 Where The Time Dwelt In EP ("Empire Of The Crimson Fields" and "Into The Cave"), the 7-inch will also include the talents of new lead guitarist Tony L.A. Scelzi, who joined Vultures Vengeance last year.

"We have always played both of these songs at our live shows, so fans of the band should have no problem recognizing them," says guitarist/vocalist Tony T. Steele. "The two songs maintain the same spirit and atmosphere of the Where The Time Dwelt In EP, so in some ways, it could be interpreted as a sequel, just with different production. And, we are excited to feature Tony's lead guitar playing on an actual release. Sadly, this will mark the last release with drummer Kosathral Khel, but it's a fitting way for us to bid farewell to him."

Steele says the Vultures Vengeance lineup is "stronger than ever," which should come in handy as they get to work on a new album and begin integrating a new drummer into the band.

"We are always really glad to play live, but the most important thing is that all the people who make it possible are those who sincerely love what we do and heavy metal in general," says Steele. "We will always be thankful to these people, for they keep this music alive not because it's a trend, but because they're passionate about it. Our main goal for the future and upcoming shows is to keep this unchanged and encourage everyone to read the messages that are within our music. Ultimately, our fans should expect that the stage for Vultures Vengeance will always be like a book where we will write the accurate description of who we are and not of whom we would like to be."

Greg Brooks, Queens’ Official Archivist was part of this process and he worked with the band and the movie production team on a daily basis for months to re-create every tiny detail of each scene and to make it as authentic as possible.

Kataklysm have announced that they will be teaming up with Swedish death metal legends Hypocrisy for a European co-headline tour.

"Collide", the first song from REPENTANCE, the new band featuring former SOIL and DIRGE WITHIN guitarist Shaun Glass and STUCK MOJO frontman Robby J. Fonts, can be streamed below. The track was recorded at Mercenary Studios with Scott Creekmore (DIRGE WITHIN, LIONHEART, BROKEN HOPE) and mixed and mastered by Chris Collier (PRONG, LAST IN LINE, METAL CHURCH, FLOTSAM AND JETSAM)

For the past several months, REPENTANCE has been feverishly writing music at Chicago's Superior Street Studios, keeping a relatively low profile as the project took shape.

Joining Fonts and Glass in the group are guitarist Markus Johnsson, drummer Anthony Lien and bassist Mike Sylvester.

"REPENTANCE came together very naturally, which was a very cleansing experience," states Glass. "At this point in my life, I was hoping to start working and creating new music with an almost entirely new group of people, and this crew organically locked into place."

"It's crazy how things happen," comments Fonts. "I was looking to start a new band since Rich [Ward] and Frank [Fontsere] are currently busy outside of STUCK MOJO [touring with FOZZY], so the timing for REPENTANCE came perfectly. It was NONPOINT's drummer, Robb Rivera, that introduced me to Shaun. One phone call later, we were stoked to get this show on the road. Shaun sent me demos, I wrote lyrics and vocals and our songs started coming together quickly."

"The band's sound is definitely very aggressive, pummeling metal and we can't wait to share some music with everyone soon," adds Glass. "Everyone is bringing their own style to the table, and the uniqueness of each is helping to shape our sound. All that said, we're all on the same page in terms of the musical direction that we're headed. 'Don't play metal if you ain't metal!' We're creating a style that we enjoy ourselves first and foremost."

REPENTANCE will make its live debut on May 23 at The Forge in Joliet, Illinois as the support act for TRIVIUM and TOOTHGRINDER.

IMONOLITH, the new Canadian metal band featuring members of THREAT SIGNAL, DEVIN TOWNSEND PROJECT and STRAPPING YOUNG LAD, has released its first track, titled "The Reign".

Says the group: "This is a demo of one of our heavier songs.

"We aren't going to release any album-quality material until our first album is in the can and ready for release.

"We hope you dig this little clip of music. This is just a small glimpse of what's to come and only one of many sides to IMONOLITH's musical diversity."

IMONOLITH was launched following Devin Townsend's announcement that he has put the DEVIN TOWNSEND PROJECT on indefinite hiatus while he works on other projects.

Joining drummer Ryan Van Poederooyen and guitarist Brian "Beav" Waddell (who played bass in DTP) are bassist Byron Stroud, second guitarist Jed Simon and vocalist Jon Howard.

Regarding how IMONOLITH was chosen as the moniker for the new band, Van Poederooyen said: "Jed Simon had a list of over 50 band names he thought of over the years. He sent them to all of us in the band. The word 'Monolith' was one of the band names. It caught my attention and I started playing with the word. At first, I thought of various names with words in front of, or after the word Monolith, then I thought of 'I Monolith.' But it didn't sound right, so I added the letter 'i' to the front of the word 'Monolith' and voilà… IMONOLITH was born. A brand new word used for a band name. The guys dug it when I brought it up to them. It sounds heavy and is easy to say. So we're sticking with it! It still somewhat carries the meaning of Monolith, which is a monumental, black stone of significance. Sounds metal enough for us!"

Melodic death metal veterans Night In Gales are streaming the title track of their new album The Last Sunsets, released earlier this year via Apostasy Records. Listen below.

After a couple of eventful years, Night In Gales finally return with a new album. Together with returning vocalist Christian Müller who appeared on their early works Sylphlike (1995) and Razor (1996), the five-piece returns to its roots and experiences a process of rejuvenation.

The Last Sunsets unleashes wild death metal with haunting melodies that evokes the early days of the melodic death metal genre. The band is supported by three guest vocalists: Marc Grewe (ex-Morgoth, Insidious Disease), Christian Mertens (Dark Millennium), and Martin Matzak (ex-Torchure). The mix and the master was done by a true scene-icon. Dan Swanö (Edge Of Sanity, ex-Bloodbath) created the perfect sound for the 12 songs which shifts between old-school and timeless. Furthermore, Costin Chioreanu’s artwork (At The Gates, Arch Enemy, Carach Angren) with its strong symbolic power fits perfect as a visual addition to the music.
