NACHTMYSTIUM Signs With PROPHECY PRODUCTIONSInfluential American metal band NACHTMYSTIUM has signed with Prophecy Productions. The group has completed work on a new EP titled "Resilient", which was recorded at Belle City Sound in Racine, Wisconsin with engineer Chris Djuric. Additional recording sessions also occurred in Norway, Germany and the band's home base of California before tracking from all contributing members was complete. "Resilient" is slated for an early 2018 release.
"NACHTMYSTIUM is extremely honored to be working with Prophecy Productions," comments guitarist/vocalist Blake Judd. "It is a true pleasure for me to have been able to develop a personal relationship with the Prophecy label staff in Southern California. We are able to meet face-to-face regularly and work together at creating the best possible environment for NACHTMYSTIUM to begin to rebuild its way back into the metal community after some very dark years and times that I have spent the majority of the last two years cleaning up the debris from. With past misdoings being corrected, new bridges built (and some old bridges rebuilt), and a few exclusive 2017 live performances under our belts, we feel as though the band has taken massive strides forward in recovering from its damaged state after my seven-year run with severe heroin addiction. Those dark days are now behind me, the band and all whose lives we effect in one way or another. Onward and upward is the attitude and goal here, as NACHTMYSTIUM's ascension returns to its past form. Expect to hear a lot of new music and news from our camp in 2018."
Now sober, Judd continues to rebuild his life, both personally and professionally. As part of NACHTMYSTIUM joining the Prophecy Productions family of artists, the band will release future recordings through the label, who will also reissue much of the group's extensive back catalog, including the critically acclaimed releases "Eulogy IV" (2004), "Assassins: Black Meddle, Part I" (2008), "Worldfall" (2008), "Doomsday Derelicts" (2009), "Addicts: Black Meddle", "Part II" (2010), "Silencing Machine" (2012) and the rare seven-inch EP "As Made" (2012). The new union supersedes the band's previously-announced deal with Earache Records.
In addition to founding member Blake Judd, NACHTMYSTIUM features Jacob Dye (guitar), Peter Truax (bass) and Jean-Michel Graffio (drums, percussion). Photo credit: Nocturnalcoonz Photography 2

BLACK SABBATH's TONY IOMMI Says He Is Getting 'Loads Of Requests' To Collaborate With Other MusiciansMetalTalk recently spoke to BLACK SABBATH guitarist Tony Iommi about "The End Of The End", a upcoming documentary movie of the band's last-ever concert, and "The Ten Year War" limited-edition vinyl box set. You can now watch the chat below.
Asked how he felt going into SABBATH's final show this past February, Iommi said: "Well, I think, in all the tour, it didn't feel like we were gonna end — it just didn't hit home at all until the end [laughs], really. The last show, we went on and played and it was a bit emotional, 'cause you're looking out, seeing people crying, which was very sad. You think all these people have been there for us for all these years, that looked to us as their heroes, and it's a lovely feeling. I felt a bit sad for them as well, really, and because we won't be seeing them as such on a regular basis."
According to Iommi, once the gig was over, "It still didn't seem like it was the end, because most tours are finished like that, and you all go home, and you think, 'We'll be back in six weeks to do the next tour,'" he said. "But, of course, it didn't happen on this one. But it was the same sort of vibe for a bit. And it still hasn't sunk in yet, because I've been involved with quite a lot of stuff since we finished, dealing the film stuff and the DVD and 'The Ten Year War' and stuff like that. We haven't had time — or I haven't had time time — to really even think about, 'Oh, we've stopped,' 'cause I haven't stopped. I'm still as busy as ever — apart from we're not flying everywhere, which is great."
Regarding his plans for the future, Iommi said: "There's a lot coming up; it's just a matter of picking and choosing what I wanna do. It's hard to say at the moment, 'cause I'm still involved with the SABBATH thing as far as putting this to bed."
He added: "There's loads of requests to put something together, and even musicians saying, 'Would you like to do something?' So it's great, really. It's really open."
The original lineup of SABBATH came together in 1969 with Iommi, Ozzy Osbourne on vocals, Geezer Butler on bass and Bill Ward on drums. That lineup recorded and toured through 1978, and periodically reformed through the '90s and 2000s for live work.
They regrouped again in late 2011 for a new album and tour, although Ward dropped out after a few months over financial issues. SABBATH has used Ozzy's regular touring drummer Tommy Clufetos since then for live work. RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE's Brad Wilk laid down the drum tracks on the album "13", which came out in June 2013. 26

THE HAXANS Feat. ROB ZOMBIE Bassist, NEW YEARS DAY Singer: 'Black Cat Bone' Video"Black Cat Bone", the new video from THE HAXANS, the goth-pop-infused power duo featuring Ash Costello (NEW YEARS DAY) on vocals and Matt Montgomery (ROB ZOMBIE) on vocals and guitar, can be seen below. The song is taken from THE HAXANS' debut album, "Party Monsters", which will be released on October 13 via Another Century Records.
Costello comments: "I love every HAXANS song, but 'Black Cat Bone' holds a special place in my heart. It's the perfect marriage between classic rock and dance rhythms. The icing on the cake are Matt's deep vocals! It's a Halloween party must that will keep you shakin' a feather year round. It's also one of the very first songs we did together for THE HAXANS. It embodies a little bit of each slice that makes up the entire HAXANS pie!"
Montgomery adds: "'Black Cat Bone' was one of our earliest songs. It kinda set the tone for our record, and really helped get the party started. But now every party has a potential party crasher, and this one in our video just wouldn't quit! I think everyone probably has one of those in their life somewhere. At one point they were invited, but somewhere along the way they crossed some lines."
Montgomery previously said that the "secret ingredient" behind THE HAXANS was "having two people that are on the same wavelength. You're painting with the same colors. We've got the same color palette. We're, like, 'Purple?' 'You mean this purple?' And we go, 'Yeah, that's exactly the purple [we were looking for].'"

HOLE's PATTY SCHEMEL To Release Memoir, 'Hit So Hard', In October"Hit So Hard: A Memoir" — the first book by drummer Patty Schemel, best known for her work with HOLE in the '90s — will be published in hardcover by Da Capo Press on October 31. "Hit So Hard" follows, and expands upon, the acclaimed documentary film of the same name about Schemel released in 2011.
A drummer who was at the epicenter of the Seattle music scene in the early '90s, Schemel was an integral member of HOLE (suggested to frontwoman Courtney Love by her husband, Kurt Cobain, an avid fan of Schemel's drumming), and helped to create the seminal album "Live Through This". "Hit So Hard" chronicles the coming of age of a musician and an addict, on and off the road, in a band plagued by tragedy during the last great era of rock 'n' roll excess. While never losing her sense of humor, Schemel — one of the first female drummers to make it big in the music world, as well as one of the first women in rock to come out publicly as gay (in the pages of Rolling Stone, no less!) — intimately documents the events surrounding her dramatic descent from festival headliner into a life of homelessness and crime on the streets of Los Angeles, and her difficult but rewarding path to sobriety after more than twenty serious attempts to get clean.
"Hit So Hard" is a first-hand account of everything that happened behind the curtain. It sheds light on Cobain's final, fateful drug intervention; the backstage antics of HOLE while they defied expectation following the sudden deaths of Cobain and bassist Kristen Pfaff and toured in support of "Live Through This"; Schemel's writing of, and subsequent dramatic exit from, the recording of the band's celebrated third album, "Celebrity Skin"; and countless encounters with some of rock 'n' roll's biggest names of the early '90s. But at its core, "Hit So Hard" is a survival story, told in witty detail by a woman who literally saw and experienced it all. Whether it was coming out in small town Washington state in the '80s, weathering all variety of sexism as one of the only famous female drummers of her time, or battling the intense drug addiction that threatened to take everything she had — including her life — many times, Schemel still managed to come out the other side. A testament to the enduring power of the music Schemel helped create, as well as an important documentation of the drug culture that threatened to destroy it, "Hit So Hard" is ultimately the story of one amazing woman's ability to prevail against all odds, even when she herself believed she wouldn't make it out alive.
Schemel is on the board of the Rock 'N' Roll Camp For Girls, a non-profit organization that teaches girls all over the world that it's okay to be loud. She continues to perform, teach, and tour, currently with the band UPSET, and lives in Los Angeles with her wife and daughter.

It will be made available on all digital platforms and formats, CD, and limited-edition LP. The 9-track album has been recorded in USA, Denmark, and Sweden, and is written by Maryann Cotton and co-writer Hal Patino. It was produced by Maryann Cotton, and recorded by Hal Patino, Sebastian Sly, Joel Korpela and Cotton.
The tracklist is as follows:
"Cursed"
"Bitch Bitching"
"Resurrection"
"Live It Up"
"I'm The Devil"
"Impales Your Empire"
"Cold Crazy Baby"
"Soldier Boy"
"For The Angels"
With regards to the Murder album title, Cotton said: "I love that title! We wanted a title that sounded hard and mean, and it fits really well with the whole vibe of the album. It's old fashioned but modern at the same time, it’s the darkest album we’ve ever done but it’s not depressing at all, it's actually a very up-album!
It’s very experimental and the sound is dirty and dry, we have worked very hard on this album and I think that the whole thing has been taken to another level! Right now I just can’t wait for the fans to hear it! It’s pure rock 'n roll!''

Swedish Professor Of Palaeontology MATS E. ERIKSSON To Release EP Featuring SNOWY SHAW Plus Members Of NILE, SEANCESwedish paleontology professor and metal devotee Mats E. Eriksson invited some of his favorite musicians and recorded an album that sonically pays homage to a group of exceptionally preserved, half-a-billion-year-old fossils, which is target of his research. Eriksson says he approached the musicians with the following mindset; “not only am I a major fan of their respective work but I also focused on perceived personalities, i.e., individuals that seemingly ooze dedication combined with a jovial disposition. And of course musicians who might appreciate science and, not least, quirky and unorthodox combinations. Man, was I proven right!”
The Primordial Rigor Mortis record features four tracks with lyrics penned by Eriksson (Spider Death BC). The lines deal with the extraordinary, so-called ‘Orsten’ fossils from the Cambrian Period (c. 541-485 million years ago) while simultaneously being staged in a dark, ‘metal’ landscape. For this project, Eriksson worked closely primarily with Tomas Andersson (Denata, Seance, Freevil) as the main music composer, instrumentalist and sparring partner. The cover artwork of the record features a stunning painting by the one and only Joe Petagno, who made his own interpretation of the force of nature killing off and preserving the ‘Orsten’ creatures.
The record kicks off with an eerily evil, yet beautiful soundscape composed by award-winning, clavier wizard Fredrik Andersson (Phanatos), and with Eriksson’s lyrics performed by horror metal ‘monster’ and multi-instrumentalist Snowy Shaw (Snowy Shaw Band, ex-Notre Dame, ex-King Diamond, ex-Mercyful Fate, ex-Dream Evil etc). In this prelude piece, Shaw chillingly guides the listener into the long lost world of strange beasts and their subsequent fate on the paleontologist dissection table.
Following this is an explosive, brief death/thrash metal piece coined “Enigmatic Presence (Agnostus pisiformis)” composed by Andersson and Eriksson. Johan Larsson’s (Seance) guttural growls violate your ear drums while paying tribute to A. pisiformis, a seminal creature in the Cambrian seas.
The third track “Primordial Rigor Mortis I” is sort of a cross-over composition; thrashy rhythms meet more melodic and traditional style metal. Composed by Andersson it features vocalist extraordinaire Charles “Chulle” Rytkönen (Morgana Lefay, Cibola Junction), while also flavored by some Andersson growling. As icing on the ‘Paleo Metal’ cake, there is an alien-esque guitar solo by none other than the astonishing Mattias “Ia” Eklundh (Freak Kitchen).
The record terminates with “Primordial Rigor Mortis II”, a death metal beast by Andersson, who also performs Eriksson’s lyrics alongside the helpful growling of Larsson. Two amazing guitar solos coloring the tune are attributed legendary death metal guitarist Karl Sanders (Nile).
In addition to the digital release, the tracks are also available on a collector’s edition 12”, 45 RPM picture vinyl record, limited to 250 hand-numbered copies worldwide. Of course the vinyl is pressed on authentic fossils. Order the EP on Bandcamp. All tracks were mixed by Mique Flesh (Seance, Freevil, ex-Witchery) and the record is self-released by Eriksson, who also produced all songs together with Andersson. Eriksson says “I could not have been more proud and pleased with the outcome and I extend my deepest gratitude towards all amazing people involved in this project”. 1

THE PINEAPPLE THIEF – “Show A Little Love” From Where We Stood Concert Film StreamingBringing to close an unforgettable 14-date European Winter tour of their 2016 summer hit album Your Wilderness, The Pineapple Thief, led by post-progressive mastermind Bruce Soord and reinforced by Gavin Harrison on drums with Darran Charles on guitar, gave the sold-out Islington Assembly Hall in London a truly awe-inspiring gig on February 11th, 2017. “Show A Little Love” is streaming below:
Where We Stood showcases a powerful performance from both band regulars and guests on new tracks from Your Wilderness, including "In Exile", "No Man's Land" and "The Final Thing On My Mind", and of the classics from previous albums, "Nothing At Best", "Show A Little Love" and "Simple As That".
Bruce Soord says about the show and release “It was our last show of the tour and our biggest headline show ever. We had 15 cameras, a massive jib, but more importantly - a sell-out crowd! The pressure was indeed on, but it’s safe to say that the stars aligned for us that night and it turned out to be one of the most memorable performances of our career so far.
We've thrown everything but the kitchen sink at this special edition Blu-ray. It has the full show; documentary footage and interviews; and two different 5.1 surround mixes (one natural, one discrete) - all in high resolution 24/96 stereo. It also has our last album Your Wilderness in stereo and surround, plus the special 8 Years Later album in stereo with a brand-new surround mix too. Ex-STRYPER Bassist TIM GAINES Slams MICHAEL SWEET, Tells His Former Bandmates To 'Grow Some Balls'Tim Gaines claims that he was kicked out of STRYPER after he was given an ultimatum by his former bandmates to either "give up" his new wife or get fired from the group.
The musician's exit from the band has been rumored for months, ever since STRYPER guitarist Oz Fox revealed that Tim was going through a divorce, forcing the group to take a hiatus and possibly consider a future without the bassist.
Gaines told KNAC.COM last month that "all hell broke loose" after he split up with his previous wife, "which is taboo as far as Christianity, I guess." He added: "I'm not the only guy in STRYPER to have gotten a divorce. Everybody in the band is married to divorced people. And I'm the bad guy, but everybody else has done it too, so? Whatever. Live in glass houses and everything will be exposed at some point or another."
A few days later, the remaining members of STRYPER released a statement denying that Gaines's divorce was a factor in their decision to part ways with the bassist and blaming Tim's "erratic and hostile behavior" for his dismissal from the group.
Earlier today, Gaines took to his Facebook page to once again address his departure from STRYPER. He wrote: "My recent demise within the STRYPER camp came about because I actually have testicles. I stood my ground when I was told to give up the woman I love (who is now my wife) or get fired. I threatened to sue. I was 'conveniently' fired ten days after my marriage to Brandee, on the grounds that I made some posts threatening to sue the band for wrongful termination. They called it 'threats.'
"My recommendation to Oz and Bob [STRYPER drummer Robert Sweet]? Grow some balls and stand up to that pathetic one and his conniving wife" — apparently referring to STRYPER frontman Michael Sweet — "or just continue to live a life of mediocrity. You both have been threatened with termination over the last several years. He has a million-dollar home. You rent and drive twenty-year-old broken-down cars. You both have NOTHING to show for your thirty-five years. Quit playing rock star and get a clue, dumbshitz."
STRYPER is scheduled to enter the studio in November to begin work on in its new album for an early 2018 release.
The band has not yet announced a replacement for Gaines.
Tim is currently working with FAITHSEDGE singer-songwriter Giancarlo Floridia on that band's fourth album, tentatively due in the fall of 2018. 1

Listen To MARILYN MANSON's New Single, 'We Know Where You F**king Live'Marilyn Manson's new single, "We Know Where You Fucking Live", was premiered earlier today (Monday, September 11) via Zane Lowe's radio show on Apple Music's Beats 1. The song, which can be heard below, is taken from Manson's new album, "Heaven Upside Down", due on October 6. On the disc, he reunites with producer and film composer Tyler Bates following an epic collaboration on Manson's critically acclaimed 2015 release, "The Pale Emperor". The shock rocker's tenth studio disc was originally supposed to be called "SAY10" and was expected to be released on Valentine's Day (February 1). However, that release date came and went without any sign of new Manson music, and in May, the 48-year-old singer announced that the LP had a new title.
When Loudwire asked Manson about the change of plans, he revealed he wasn't happy with the album when Valentine's Day came around and subsequently wrote three new songs that ended up being some of the record's strongest.
"If the record came out when I intended it to, when I thought it was finished back in February, it would not have 'Revelation #12', 'Heaven Upside Down' or 'Saturnalia'. Those are three of the most key songs that really tell the story," Manson explained. "Those lyrics were all written, but I had not found a home for them. Those three songs take place in the three places where if it were a film, it's the opening, it's the middle and it's the ending. Then there's the song after 'Heaven Upside Down', it's sort of the end title credits where it's really surmising the story of the record, which is to be interpreted by the listener."
He continued: "I wanted to draw people in sonically and lyrically. I'm glad. This record was meant to come out now, for whatever reason. Things had to happen in my life, everything had to happen for a reason for it to come out now."
Manson performed four new songs during his recently completed European tour.
In November last year, Manson issued a brief teaser video for the track "SAY10" which saw him tear pages from the bible and focus on the bloodied body of a man in a suit — believed to represent then-Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump.
Manson revealed last September that his new album would be "the last thing people would expect after hearing 'The Pale Emperor'." He explained: "Coming from the people who I've played it to, it's a combination of 'Antichrist Superstar' and 'Mechanical Animals' in feeling."
Manson added: "It wasn't my intent to go backwards. Everything goes in a full circle and it just becomes, without cannibalizing work from the past, the same thing, which is ultimately you. I'm a little over-anxious to release it, so it was done very quickly, but it's by far the most thematic and over-complicated thing that I've done. In a way, it's deceptively delightful to strangers. It's like the old saying that the devil's greatest secret is that people don't believe he exists."
MARILYN MANSON's North American tour will kick off on September 27 in Silver Spring, Maryland.
"Heaven Upside Down" track listing:
01. Revelation #1202. Tattooed In Reverse03. We Know Where You Fucking Live04. Say1005. Kill4me06. Saturnalia07. Je$u$ Cri$i$08. Blood Honey09. Heaven Upside Down10. Threats Of Romance 7

METALLICA Performs 'ManUNkind' Live For First Time (Video)METALLICA played the song "ManUNkind" live for the first time during their September 10 concert at AccorHotels Arena in Paris, France. Multi-camera fan-filmed video footage of the performance can be seen below.
"ManUNkind" is taken from METALLICA's latest album, "Hardwired… To Self-Destruct", which came out last November.
METALLICA frontman James Hetfield explained the song's meaning to the band's fan-club magazine So What!: "[This song is] biblical, the Garden of Eden. 'Wow, you've got it all, but you want more?' You've got all this greatness and then it's torn… the biblical story… but let's get back to the goodness of man. Man is sinful and has to crawl and try to make up, it's like we're always down below in the higher power's eyes, [and] we have to prove ourselves over and over daily that we're not evil. And having faith in this world [where] everyone's out for themselves. Finding the negative in a bunch of stuff is… at the end of the day, have faith in man. Instead of just blaming it on mankind. Yeah, there are some unkind people out there, but having faith that we get through that, or they learn about it, or somehow they become more part of the solution instead of the problem."
The official video for "ManUNkind" was directed by Jonas Åkerlund, who originally worked with METALLICA on the clips for "Turn The Page" and "Whiskey In The Jar".
Åkerlund was the original drummer of BATHORY, one of the first black metal bands, who made his mark directing music videos for artists from Madonna and THE ROLLING STONES to MAROON 5 and Beyoncé. These have won him a host of awards including several Grammys, an MTV VMA, MVPA Hall Of Fame award and more. Åkerlund has also directed a number of feature films, including cult favorite "Spun" starring Jason Schwartzman, Mickey Rourke, Brittany Murphy and John Leguizamo.
"Hardwired...To Self-Destruct" was produced by Greg Fidelman with frontman James Hetfield and drummer Lars Ulrich. The band recorded the disc at its own studio.
The European leg of METALLICA's "WorldWired" tour kicked off in Copenhagen, Denmark on September 2 and will run through November. After a break, the trek will pick up again on February 1, 2018 in Lisbon, Portugal, and continue through May, finishing up in Helsinki, Finland. 19

VOIVOD To Release 'Silver Machine' EPCanadian progressive sci-fi metal innovators VOIVOD will release another strictly limited seven-inch EP via Century Media Records on September 29.
Completing the vinyl release of the five songs featured on the "Post Society" mini-album, "Silver Machine" and will include the HAWKWIND cover version that serves as the EP's title track as well as the song "Post Society".
The "Silver Machine" EP is limited to a total of a thousand copies, split up as follows:
Black vinyl - 500 copies: via CM DistroWhite vinyl - 200 copies: via CM WebshopSilver vinyl - 300 copies: via the band on the road VOIVOD drummer Michel "Away" Langevin, who designed the artwork for "Silver Machine", stated: "At this moment, we are recording demos and writing the conclusion of the next album, while getting ready for the Wings Of Metal festival here in Montreal. Right after this show, we will rehearse a couple of new setlists for the upcoming tour.
"We are really thrilled to go to Europe again this year, to play in some countries we never visited before. In November, after the tour, we will go to RadicArt studio to record the new material, at last... In the meantime, see you on the road!” "Post Society" EP was issued in February 2016 via Century Media. It was the follow-up to 2013's "Target Earth", which marked VOIVOD's first album of new material written without original guitarist Denis "Piggy" D'Amour's leftover riffs.
Langevin told Metal Wani about the musical direction of the next VOIVOD album: "It's like in the vein of [the] 'Post Society' [EP]. So far, most of the songs are very long and progressive. We want to write a couple of short rockers to have a good blend, but so far, it's very intricate and progressive thrash metal with a bit of punk, as usual. It's still VOIVOD, it's a newer VOIVOD, but I think the spirit is intact… I mean, there are elements of all the periods, for sure, and it sounds like the 'Dimension Hatröss' era, but it's a new thing. [Bassist] Rocky [Dominique Laroche] and [guitarist] Chewy [Daniel Mongrain], they have their own way of approaching the music. They are really tight, surgical, so it makes me play differently. The thrash metal roots will always be there, except that we like to go into prog rock and psychedelia as well." 2

ELECTRIC WIZARD: 'Wizard Bloody Wizard' Album Details RevealedU.K. cult legends ELECTRIC WIZARD will release their new album, "Wizard Bloody Wizard", on November 10 via Spinefarm. The LP is described in a press release as "forty-three minutes of cranium-crushing bludgeon rock, a relentless aural brain rape and, like the band's beloved vintage horror/exploitation movies, definitely not for those of a nervous disposition." Finally rising above convention and genre, the band have constructed their own vision of classic heavy rock, a sound harking back to the dreaded days when "heavy" meant GRAND FUNK and BLACK SABBATH and "rock" meant drugs, groupies and mountains of amplification. "Right away we knew this was it… the new direction we should go in," says ELECTRIC WIZARD guitarist/vocalist Jus Oborn. "Real heavy music… really basic heavy rock, blues-based but brutal.
"I think a lot of modern heavy music has disappeared up its own arse… it's too pretentious and technical. We wanted to get back to that primal sound… over-amplified blues… Hendrix, BLUE CHEER, ZEPPELIN. They took that music and then turned it up… so we thought let's do the blues in our style. Heavy, heavy super-fuckin' blues, total snail-paced funeral boogie for this twenty-first-century hell. I guess it's meant to be hopeless but it's also defiant and unbroken." Even though the LP promises "hymns to death, drugs, sex and violence," the overall vibe is a band that is revitalized and ready to kill. The sound is aggressive, stripped back and savage, as if the new line-up has mainlined a new level of attitude and ability. "Y'know, a lot of bad shit has happened to us, but through it all was the music," Oborn says. "We still dig loud heavy music and the album is not really depressed or angry, it's arrogant and rebellious. I still believe in rock and roll and I still believe in killing it on stage and mentally destroying an audience." And the band sounds together — really together. The last three years of touring, writing and rehearsing have honed and moulded a new sound that has truly distilled the ELECTRIC WIZARD brew. In forty-three brain-damaging minutes, the band delivers a varied, challenging and breath-taking LP, from crushing blues stomp through savage Detroit sleaze rock, paranoiac passages of droning drug rock and creepy funereal proto-metal/acidrock. "We've been worn out by the modern scene — it's all about styles and genre," Oborn says. "We just wanna make solid heavy music… no rules. We didn't set out to record a style or product. We set out to record what we wanted to hear.
"I want people to know it's ELECTRIC WIZARD from the first second, but also to know we are gonna take them on a trip.
"Heavy doesn't just mean tone and bottom end… I think people have become too obsessed by FX and boutique amps. It's more about playing style, attitude and songwriting…
"Y'know, a lot of our songs have been interpreted as acoustic numbers by various people and they are still heavy and ominous sounding… You can't dilute true darkness." The LP's stunning all analog recording has been produced by Oborn and Liz Buckingham (guitar) in their own Satyr IX Recording Studio. "It's an anti-studio really," Oborn explains. "We wanted to put as little between the band and the tape as possible. We needed to take stuff away and use less equipment, 'cause I think the raw sound of the band is killer.
"Studios have progressively made the recording situation more difficult and convoluted. I always think the best recordings are the simplest and most basic ones. So, yeah, we built the studio that we wanted… mics, mixing desk, tape machine… that's it. No bullshit." The LP sleeve and art has also been conceived by the band and echoes, again, their love of the macabre, evil and sleazy. A sick and twisted bad taste eye-assault that aims to titillate, excite and repulse you. "Sex and violence are our basest instincts," Oborn says. "I guess we think that engaging the brain and guts on this most basic, primal level is the fastest way to grab people's emotions… It's 'shock' tactics, but the world is so fuckin' brainwashed or bored that they need to be 'woken up'. The 'man' is slowly neutering and killing us with technology and lies… It's time to fight back."
Upon album preorders, fans will receive an instant download of new track "See You In Hell".

AT THE GATES Announces New Guitarist; Next Album To Be Recorded This WinterSwedish melodic death metal pioneers AT THE GATES have announced the addition of guitarist Jonas Stålhammar to the group's ranks. He joins the band as the replacement for co-founding guitarist Anders Björler, who left AT THE GATES in March.
Says AT THE GATES: "We have finally decided on a new guitar player, and we are ready to rip again! Actually, he was our first choice, and we are happy to have him on board.
"Jonas Stålhammar has been a friend since the late eighties (Tomas [Lindberg, vocals] used to tape trade with him back then!), and our paths have crossed many times during our careers.
"We were looking for someone who had the same reference points as we do, someone from the same path, so to say, who understand the greatness of both AUTOPSY and KING CRIMSON. Of course, it was essential that our new member could fill the shoes of Anders performance-wise as well, but that was never an issue with Jonas. We were looking for someone with a deep understanding of what AT THE GATES are about, someone who could contribute creatively to the band.
"Jonas Stålhammar will be a full member from day one, and will play on the upcoming full length album, scheduled for recording in November 2017 - January 2018.
"We currently have eleven songs ready for said album, and are more inspired than perhaps ever before.
"You can expect a full-on AT THE GATES record with all the classic elements of the band. It is by far the most comprehensive album of the band to date, and will span all the way across the different elements of the band's sound.
"We are super-excited for 2018. It will be a good year for AT THE GATES, and our fans, for sure."
Stålhammar is currently a member of THE LURKING FEAR, CRIPPLED BLACK PHOENIX, BOMBS OF HADES and GOD MACABRE. He previously played in ABHOTH, UTUMNO and MACABRE END.

Lindberg recently told Metal Wani about the writing process for the next AT THE GATES album: "We are all very eager to get this done. The one that has stepped up so far is, of course, Jonas [Björler, bass], who wrote about forty percent of both [2014's comeback album] 'At War With Reality' and [1995's] 'Slaughter Of The Soul', so he stepped in as the main songwriter now, and the stuff that he's put on the table so far is amazing, basically. It really captures exactly the essence of what AT THE GATES is. I mean, 'At War With Reality' was a good album for us, a strong album, but I think this one is more focused on just being us."
Regarding the musical direction of the new AT THE GATES material, Tomas said: "There's been a lot of discussions, and, as I said, a very creative, inspired atmosphere right now. I would say that we are, again, in a sense, as with 'At War With Reality', trying to really grasp what AT THE GATES is. Maybe a little bit more again even further back to the roots a little bit to see what aspects of AT THE GATES we could put in the AT THE GATES of today and make it a whole record, so to say, to present as we are now. But I think there will be some surprises for people in a very good way. So far it's a very coherent, very strong album, [with] very strong songs."
AT THE GATES' comeback album, "At War With Reality", was released in October 2014 via Century Media. The CD, which sold 7,700 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 53 on The Billboard 200 chart, was recorded at Studio Fredman in Gothenburg and was mixed at Fascination Street Studios in Örebro, Sweden with Jens Bogren (OPETH, KATATONIA, SOILWORK, PARADISE LOST, KREATOR). 1

STEELHEART Releases Video For 'Lips Of Rain'"Lips Of Rain", the new video from STEELHEART — the brainchild of Miljenko Matijevic, whose powerful voice and multi-octave range is the heart and soul of the band — can be seen below. The song is taken from the group's new album, "Through Worlds Of Stardust", which will be released on September 15 via Frontiers Music Srl.
Directed by Matijevic, the "Lips Of Rain" clip was partly filmed at the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah. Other footage was shot in the Malibu hills.
Says Miljenko: "I cannot express how excited I am for you all to hear this new album. Our focus was to bring back the magic in the music with songs that have been lived, loved, laughed and struggled. I best describe this album as 'deep, sexy, loving, twisted, romantic, and hungry rock 'n' roll.' The record was recorded throughout parts of the world, including a live string section recorded in Stockholm, Sweden. I truly hope you enjoy this album as it was created from the heart and no corners were cut. Love you all; we look forward to seeing you on the road." Although they were lumped in with the glut of long-haired hard rock bands emerging in the early '90s, STEELHEART was always more forward thinking than their peers and the 2017 version of the band has a contemporary and edgy feel, while still retaining the patented powerful vocals of Miljenko. On "Through Worlds Of Stardust", Miljenko has fused his past, present, and future together, creating an undeniable piece of hard rock music. Certainly fans of the band's first three classic albums will be happy to hear those powerful pipes back in action, but fans of modern hard rock acts like HALESTORM, SHINEDOWN, ALTER BRIDGE and other melodic-minded rock heavyweights will find much here to love. STEELHEART released their self-titled debut album in 1990 and, based on the buzz around the hit single "I'll Never Let You Go", was a smashing success (for example, 33,000 albums were sold in one day in Japan) and quickly reached platinum sales. STEELHEART's sophomore album, "Tangled In Reins", was released in 1992 to critical acclaim and rave reviews, but moderate success in terms of sales in the U.S. (by early '90s standards) due to the well documented rise of grunge music; however, East Asia was a different story, where the band was widely embraced yet again. In the midst of promotion of the album, a serious accident happened on Halloween night in 1992, when an improperly secured lighting truss hit Matijevic on the back of the head, breaking his nose, cheekbone, jaw, and twisting his spine. Almost impossibly, Matijevic managed to walk off the stage of his own strength before being rushed to a hospital. STEELHEART, as it was known, ended that night. Four years later, Matijevic formed a new version of STEELHEART with Kenny Kanowski (guitars), Vincent Mele (bass), and Alex Makarovich (drums) to record and release his third album, "Wait". The album was very different musically from the previous two albums, but featured the song "We All Die Young" (millions of streams and counting on Spotify) which was later included as a re-recorded version in the movie "Rock Star", which saw Matijevic providing the singing voice for Mark Wahlberg's character. The movie soundtrack was performed by Matijevic (and Jeff Scott Soto) on vocals along with Zakk Wylde (Ozzy Osbourne's then-guitarist and frontman of BLACK LABEL SOCIETY), Jeff Pilson (DOKKEN, FOREIGNER), and Jason Bonham. TRIXTER Drummer MARK GUS SCOTT Releases 'Ave Maria' Solo VideoOn this somber day in American history, the latest pop-classical solo effort from TRIXTER drummer Mark Gus Scott reinforces the mantra "We Will Not Forget!" His latest video shows Mark performing an emotional version of Franz Schubert's "Ave Maria" among numerous iconic New York City and Washington D.C. landmarks in a story-telling fashion that Mark — a New York resident at the time of the 9/11 attacks — relays to his son, Brandon Michael Scott. The video also marks Brandon's directorial debut as a filmmaker.
"Ave Maria" is the first single from Mark's forthcoming holiday album titled "Christmas Miracle", to be released on Thanksgiving. All proceeds from "Ave Maria" will be donated to the Hope 4 Kids International (H4KI) charity for which Mark, an international spokesperson, is a contributor and partner. As the wild and charismatic member of the internationally renowned rock band TRIXTER, Mark Gus Scott has sold well over three million albums worldwide. Mark has performed in front of millions of people around the world and now employs his classical training yet again to bring about a "Christmas Miracle". A long-standing member of the philanthropic community, Mark Gus Scott continues his charitable crusade by joining forces with arguably the greatest charity to make an impact around the world, Hope 4 Kids International. Hope 4 Kids International is a four-star rated non-profit organization committed to helping children around the world that are suffering from extreme poverty through dignity, health, joy and love. Mark Gus Scott's support and partnership with H4KI is helping make dreams come true for some very special children all around the world. Through H4KI's mission to help in the empowerment of children who suffer from extreme poverty, Mark has been inspired to sponsor nine-year-old Alowo Cathy. She could hardly contain her joy when learning that Mark had become her sponsor. Living in Uganda, life is extremely difficult for a child barely surviving in the margins of society. This gift of life has given her courage to dream. Singing in the church choir, hope resonates more gloriously than ever throughout her small village. A gift of love worth singing about! Being appreciative of the life Mark has been afforded, he shares the following: "As an individual who has been extremely fortunate to achieve a life-long dream, I truly recognize the value, importance and impact it can have on the life of a child. It is my passion, through the sales of 'Ave Maria', that deep hope will come to kids believing their dreams will never come true and that their lives are over. Together through dignity, health, joy and love, we can all give them life-changing support! "I thank Hope 4 Kids International for their tireless work and efforts in making this world a better place. It is a privilege to join H4KI in their quest to enrich the well-being of children all around the world. This Christmas, I urge you to join me in a call to action to make a difference." 1

SLIPKNOT's 'Day Of The Gusano' Documentary To Be Released On DVD/Blu-Ray In OctoberThe new SLIPKNOT documentary "Day Of The Gusano" will be released on DVD/Blu-ray on October 20 via Eagle Rock Entertainment.
Directed by SLIPKNOT's own M. Shawn Crahan, a.k.a. Clown, "Day Of The Gusano" documents the Iowa band's first-ever visit to Mexico in December 2015 and features exclusive interviews with SLIPKNOT's members talking about the importance of their fanbase and the band's long-awaited first-ever show in Mexico City.
Talking about the movie, Clown said: "SLIPKNOT still has dreams for itself. Finally playing Mexico was one of them. It's been a surreal life of rock and roll for SLIPKNOT and the fact that the dreams still go on for us is simply incredible. Thank you." Guitarist Jim Root adds: "We had such a great time at Knotfest Mexico... Not only with all the friends and bands that were there, but with the fans and the crowd we had to document it with. Now we get to share it with the world." The ninety-minute documentary also chronicles the rabid devotion of the Mexican maggots and sees the band hearing personal, emotive stories from some of their fans, all interspersed with footage from SLIPKNOT's incendiary live show at the inaugural Knotfest México. The film features a full surround soundtrack, so you'll not only hear the show, but you'll 'feel' it as if you were actually there.
"Day Of The Gusano" track listing:
01. Sarcastrophe 02. The Heretic Anthem 03. Psychosocial 04. The Devil In I 05. Me Inside 06. Vermilion 07. Wait And Bleed 08. Prosthetics 09. Before I Forget10. Eeyore 11. Duality 12. Custer13. Spit It Out 14. Metabolic / 74261700002715. (sic)16. People = Shit17. Surfacing / Til We Die
"Day Of The Gusano" was premiered in more than a thousand screens across the world as a one-night-only cinematic spectacle on September 6.
SLIPKNOT frontman Corey Taylor told the 97.1 The Eagle radio station in June that the band was "not really doing anything right now." He explained: "I know we're kind of slowly starting to write some music. Other than that, we're just kind of taking some time off. Clown's gonna direct some movies, Sid's gonna do some stuff… We're all kind of doing our own thing… But that's it. I mean, really. Next year is everybody kind of doing their own thing, and then probably after that, we will slowly but surely start to get together to do some SLIPKNOT stuff."
SLIPKNOT's touring cycle in support of ".5: The Gray Chapter", ended in November, with Taylor returning to his other band STONE SOUR this year.
".5: The Gray Chapter" was released following a six-year hiatus during which founding SLIPKNOT bassist Paul Gray died and drummer Joey Jordison was dismissed.
One of last gigs of "The Gray Chapter" touring cycle saw SLIPKNOT performing its 2001 second LP, "Iowa", live in its entirety for the first time during the band's set at their annual Knotfest.
".5: The Gray Chapter" sold around 132,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to land at position No. 1 on The Billboard 200 chart. The CD arrived in stores in October 2014 via Roadrunner.
Gray died in 2010 from a drug overdose, while Jordison was let go in December 2013, just before SLIPKNOT began recording the last album.

COMEBACK KID Release “Hell Of A Scene” Music Video; Outsider Album Out NowCanadian hardcore/punk outfit Comeback Kid have released their new album, Outsider, via New Damage Records in Canada and Nuclear Blast throughout the rest of the world. A new video for the track “Hell Of A Scene” can be seen below.
Commented the band: "'Hell Of A Scene' was intended to be a song brighter in mood. We always had a laugh writing and playing this song in rehearsals, but it always felt right. One of my favourites on the new album. We shot this video in Aalborg, Denmark while on tour this last summer during some down time an afternoon before a show that night. It was very on the fly and spontaneous. Pleased to premiere it on our album release day.
"To release our 6th studio album, with a fresh start on Nuclear Blast / New Damage is a significant moment for us. It really feels like we are starting a whole new chapter with the band. On this record we allowed ourselves to step outside the box a little more musically while still binding to the traditional Comeback Kid sound, resulting in what I think is our most dynamic material yet."
