ANGELS IN VEIN - Bassist ERIC STACY "No Longer With The Band"

"Bassist Eric Stacy (Faster Pussycat) is no longer with the band," reads a collective statement from Angels In Vein. "While we have no desire to get into the personal specifics that led to the split at this time, the members of AIV wish him all the best with whatever is next for him. That being said, we are pleased to announce that Adam Kury (Candlebox) has stepped in to pick up the slack."

Angels In Vein is rounded out by vocalist Chris VanDahl (L.A. Guns), guitarist Todd "Taz" Anthony, guitarist Stacey Blades (L.A. Guns), and drummer Troy Patrick Farrell (White Lion). Check out the band's newly released, first ever video for the song "1973".

LARS ULRICH: How

LARS ULRICH: How 'Kill 'Em All' Influenced Songwriting Process For New METALLICA Album

METALLICA has announced November 18 as the release date of its tenth studio album, "Hardwired...To Self-Destruct". The long-awaited follow-up to 2008's "Death Magnetic" consists of two discs, containing a dozen songs and nearly 80 minutes of music.

"Hardwired...To Self-Destruct" was produced by Greg Fidelman with METALLICA frontman James Hetfield and drummer Lars Ulrich. The band recorded the disc at its own studio and is still putting the finishing touches on the LP. Ulrich told Rolling Stone: "We have all but one of the songs mixed and done. In the last two or three days, Greg was going to mix the one called 'Spit Out the Bone' — working title 'CHI' — and all of a sudden Rob [Trujillo, bass] showed up in the control room yesterday to work on it. So what the fuck do I know? It's pretty much done. We should have that last song mixed this weekend."

METALLICA premiered the first song, "Hardwired", on Minneapolis radio station 93X on Thursday (August 18) ahead of their headlining gig at the city's new U.S. Bank Stadium this Saturday (August 20). A music video for the song has also been posted online.

According to Ulrich, METALLICA wrote most of the songs for "Hardwired...To Self-Destruct" in the fall of 2014 and the spring of 2015. The band's initial goal with the new record was "to continue where we left off," the drummer said. "Since 'Death Magnetic', we've been on a roll: We did the Lou Reed stuff, a Ronnie Dio-RAINBOW medley, a DEEP PURPLE cover and obviously the ['Through The Never'] movie took two years. Greg Fidelman has been working with us full time since then. We haven't had time to sit down and asses what we're doing. So it wasn't until farther into the process that we took stock of what we were doing and asked what we were trying to say with the album. That's when things came more into shape and became more coherent. But we didn't work with a mission statement."

Asked about his previous comment that the songs on "Hardwired" would sound "less frenetic" than those on "Death Magnetic", Ulrich explained: "Most of the songs are simpler. We introduce a mood and we stick to it, rather than songs we've done where one riff happens and we go over here and then over there and becomes a journey through all these different soundscapes. The songs are more linear. And by 'less frenetic,' I mean there are certainly less starts and stops in the songs. It cruises along a little bit more than the last record."

Lars also talked about how the "Kill 'Em All" and "Ride The Lightning" reissues affected the making of "Hardwired" . He said: "I can't say that there was a magical moment where we're listening to 'Metal Militia' and wrote a song. But we did play 'Kill 'Em All' in its entirety at the Orion festival in Detroit in 2013. That was the first time I really got into that record. Early on, I was dismissive of that record because 'Ride The Lightning' and 'Master Of Puppets' may be a little more intellectually stimulating and challenging — they were deeper records — and it wasn't until 2013 when we played it that I realized 'Kill 'Em All' had a cohesiveness. It had its own thing with the speed, but it's simpler — the songs are longer but not quite as progressive. It's a world all its own. And I think there are some elements of that that rubbed off into this. I'd say there's a trace of residue from rediscovering 'Kill 'Em All' that crept into the songwriting."

"Hardwired...To Self-Destruct" will be issued on double CD, vinyl and digital download. A deluxe version will feature a bonus disc containing the riffs that formed the origins of the album along with "The Lords Of Summer", which the band debuted on tour a couple of years ago.

Ulrich admitted to The Pulse Of Radio that the fact METALLICA was recording the new album at its own studio was one reason it took a while to complete the disc. "One thing I can tell you when you make a record at home, which I've realized in the last month or so, is that when you go away to a studio and make a record, you have to leave Sunday night at 10 p.m. 'cause the ARCTIC MONKEYS are setting up, you know, at 10 a.m. Monday morning," he said. "Makes you finish what you're doing. We don't have the luxury of that. We have open-ended recording time at our own studio."

METALLICA

METALLICA's LARS ULRICH Was 'Devastated' By PRINCE's Death

Lars Ulrich says that he was "devastated" by the passing of legendary singer, guitarist, songwriter and producer Prince, explaining that METALLICA could relate to his resolve to make music on his own terms.

Prince's body was discovered on April 21 in the elevator of his Minnesota estate Paisley Park. The coroner later ruled that he had died of an accidental fentanyl overdose.

During yesterday's (Thursday, August 18) Facebook Live interview with the 93X radio station, Ulrich said about Prince's death: "I was devastated. I mean, he's obviously one of the biggest musical icons. Talk about someone who's a pioneer. What he did, not just for music and everything on the creative [end], but also on the business side. He sort of took a stance and never took the business side for granted and was pretty autonomous and kind of did his own thing, which is something that we can relate to."

He continued: "We've always considered ourselves in METALLICA to be a little bit sort of living in our own world and playing by our own set of rules, and I really, really respected and admired the fact that he didn't follow the way it was 'supposed' to be on the business side. So both sides — creatively and the other stuff — he was a true independent, which is what we consider ourselves to be, and a true pioneer."

Ulrich added: "So [it was] a tragic loss and, obviously, it would have been awesome to see what else would have come out for another thirty or forty years. But certainly I, as a fan, can't wait to see what happens when they open up the vaults. I'm sure there's some cool stuff in there."

METALLICA in 2012 launched a new record label, Blackened Recordings in conjunction with the band taking ownership of all their master recordings, including music and videos, as part of a contract provision METALLICA negotiated with Warner Bros. in 1994.

"It's always been about control for us as a band," Ulrich said at the time. "Forming Blackened Recordings is the ultimate in independence, giving us 100 percent control and putting us in the driver's seat of our own creative destiny."

Blackened Recordings will release METALLICA's new album, "Hardwired...To Self-Destruct", on November 18.

CHARLIE BENANTE Slams BLABBERMOUTH.NET

CHARLIE BENANTE Slams BLABBERMOUTH.NET 'Idiots,' Says 'For All Kings' Is Not Last ANTHRAX Album

Metal Wani's Jackie Mtz conducted an interview with ANTHRAX drummer Charlie Benante at this year's edition of the Bloodstock Open Air festival, which was held August 11-14 at Catton Hall, Walton-On-Trent, West Midlands, United Kingdom. You can now watch the chat below.

Asked about a comment he made to the EonMusic web site back in June when he said that ANTHRAX's latest album, "For All Kings", could be the band's last, explaining the "inspiration" to make a follow-up effort "may not be there," Benante responded: "So, I should clarify that. That was taken completely out of context. [The intereviewer] asked me…. This record, he felt, was probably the greatest thing we've ever done. Where do you go from here? And then that led into the conversation, 'I don't know. Maybe this could be the last one, and I would be happy with that.' That's what I said. But, of course, fucking idiots, like on that Blabbermouth site, I hate them. They twist it, and they just want people to go to their web site, so… And it's, like, that's not what I said. I think we have a lot more music in us. And that's basically what was said. So, you know, whatever."

For the record, the BLABBERMOUTH.NET article in question contained Benante's full quotes, as reported by EonMusic, the web site that originally conducted the interview.

Benante previously told The Aquarian Weekly that he was motivated to conjure a vintage ANTHRAX vibe during the early stages of writing "For All Kings".

"The first three or four songs I had for this record were flat-out thrash, a throwback to the old days, and they needed to be written," he explained. "I became possessed by my guitar. It was like my guitar was making me write these songs."

After penning the first few speed-laden tunes, the band chose to get adventurous.

"We wanted to explore different types of songs, and have this musical landscape that takes you somewhere from start to finish," Benante said.

"For All Kings" sold 34,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to land at position No. 9 on The Billboard 200 chart.

ANTHRAX will join forces with SLAYER and DEATH ANGEL this fall for a seven-week North American tour. The dates start in Cleveland on September 9 and will hit both major and secondary markets across the continent.

SLIPKNOT

SLIPKNOT's COREY TAYLOR: 'I Am Never Going To Play It Safe'

In a recent interview with Exclaim!'s Aggressive Tendencies, SLIPKNOT frontman Corey Taylor gave his opinion on many current issues in addition to discussion the status of his various projects. The latest clip from the chat can be seen below. A couple of excerpts follow (transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET).

On using his platform to speak out on topics that he is passionate about:

Corey: "I don't know if it's a good thing or a bad thing, but I have an opinion, and I always have. It's not that I just have a giant mouth — I mean, I'm sure that helps to get it out there — but, for me, I am never going to play it safe. I am never going to worry about whether or not I am sending the right message.

"When you know who you are, it makes it easier for you to know what you'll fight for.

On cyberbullying:

Corey: "Social media has made it so everyone has a platform. That's not necessarily a good thing, because look what's happening to poor Leslie Jones [who stars in the all-female casted reboot of 'Ghostbusters'] right now. She has been, basically, driven off Twitter [after being bombarded by racist tweets] — temporarily, hopefully — just because she's a part of a movie that I haven't even seen yet. But me and a host of other people are really starting to go, 'Woah, woah, woah. Uh-uh. We're not gonna let that stand.' We are not gonna let something like that kind of cyberbullying, racist rhetoric, misogynistic bullshit, we're not gonna let that stand. We are going to come to her aid whether she wants it or not, because that's the right thing to do."

On the "Black Lives Matter" movement:

Corey: "People, they misunderstand that whole movement. They're trying to paint it that that movement is trying to say 'Only Black Lives Matter.' That's not the point at all. The point that they're trying to say is that, yes, all lives matter, but black lives are the ones that are under attack right now, so we need to rally around them. And the more people try to split hairs about it, the more they're missing that point. I'm not gonna let that go, and I'm certainly not gonna let people split hairs about it, because it's fucking ridiculous. The second that you try to defend something like that, you've lost the battle, because that's not what it's about. And that's why I've really tried to bring at least my fans into the conversation by being, like, you know what? You can fight it intellectually if you want to, but don't let it come down to that base hate. There's no way you win on that. If you can't fight it with love, you have to fight it with a sort of intellectual compassion, 'cause that's the only way people are gonna come around. If I have to spend the rest of my life reminding people of that, then I will. It's easier to swim with the current than it is to turn around and try to fight the current. I have to believe that other people feel the way I do. And if they don't, then we are truly lost."

SLIPKNOT was forced to postpone its North American trek with MARILYN MANSON by three weeks after Taylor underwent what he described as "an unplanned spinal surgery."

The summer trek is likely to be SLIPKNOT's last U.S. tour in support of its latest album, ".5: The Gray Chapter", which was released in October 2014.

Following the tour, SLIPKNOT and BLACK SABBATH will co-headline the combined Ozzfest Meets Knotfest, a two-day festival scheduled for September 24-25 in San Bernardino, California.

ATREYU Will Write And Record New Album In 2017

ATREYU Will Write And Record New Album In 2017

On August 6, Capital Chaos TV conducted an interview with guitarists Dan Jacobs and Travis Miguel of California metallers ATREYU at the Mountain View, California stop of this year's edition of the Vans Warped Tour. You can now watch the chat below.

Asked if ATREYU has begun work on the follow-up to 2015's "Long Live" album, Dan said: "We haven't started on anything new just yet. We have a couple of riffs here and there [that] we'll kind of just jam on occasionally, but [we have] nothing solidified yet where we're, like, 'All right, this is a full song,' or we have a release date or anything like that. But next year is definitely gonna be a year of writing and recording at some point in time."

ATREYU's sixth album, "Long Live", was released in September 2015 through the Search And Destroy imprint as part of the joint venture between Raw Power Management and Spinefarm.

Jacobs told The AU about the band's decision to go on a three-year hiatus prior to the making of "Long Live": "It was something we were all just feeling, you know, at the same time, before we even brought it out; everybody was just feeling burnt out. We've been touring so much and we just felt a bit lost. I think we all went down different paths that we didn't necessarily know whether or not it was the right or wrong path. We all just felt like we were stuck in Neverland, and all we ever did was graduate high school and soon after going on the road, we just sort of grew up in the band."

He continued: "I think everybody wanted to see what they were made of outside of the band and just who we were as individuals and not just the guys from ATREYU. I think a combined effort of so many things brought us to the point where we weren't having fun and none of us were where we wanted to truly be. We didn't want to break up or anything but we definitely needed to like go down different roads for a little bit and to become the people we've been held back from growing into so in that way, we could come back together stronger, passionate and excited again."

SATYRICON To Begin Recording New Album In January

SATYRICON To Begin Recording New Album In January

Metal Wani's Jackie Mtz conducted an interview with drummer Kjetil-Vidar "Frost" Haraldstad of Norwegian black metallers SATYRICON at this year's edition of the Bloodstock Open Air festival, which was held August 11-14 at Catton Hall, Walton-On-Trent, West Midlands, United Kingdom. You can now watch the chat below. A couple of excerpts follow (transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET).

On SATYRICON's previously announced plans to record a new studio album and release a separate album of covers:

Frost: "We have now decided to enter the studio in January to record our own studio album. The original plan was to record a cover album first. But as we started up that process, we got very inspired to write our own material first, and that is more important for a band like us. So when that ball had started to roll, it was the only right thing to do, to continue letting the ball roll and finish work with the album, and then return to the cover album project. Anything else would have been the wrong idea for this band. And it's hard to tell exactly when we're gonna release the cover album. But both the recording and release of a new studio album will happen next year."

On what keeps inspiring SATYRICON to continue making new music:

Frost: "I think, more than anything else, it's that true passion that we have for music in general and black metal in particular. That kind of gives a creative and inspired foundation. And such a fundamental evolution will be perhaps the one constant factor in the band; we will always observe, learn, improve… We'll have constant dynamic process going on. Creativity, basically. And as long as that is there, I think that you can go on for a long time and always experience that you can get better at things and that you can take things further and explore new musical territory. This is really something that we have in our hearts, and SATYRICON is a channel for us to express ourselves musically and to create something unique that couldn't have been done by any other band. When we're working on such a creative and inspired album as we do currently, I can hardly see that there's an end to this very soon. We have a long way to go still, lots of things to discover, many things that we can do better, and I think that we will never lose touch with our roots either."

SATYRICON is celebrating the 20th anniversary of its seminal album "Nemesis Divina" with a never-to-be-repeated series of exclusive European shows, wherein the Norwegian trailblazers are performing the album in its entirety for the first and last time.

To herald the 20th anniversary of this most illustrious piece of dark art, "Nemesis Divina" was re-released in spring 2016, newly remastered by Satyr himself and boasting upgraded and revamped packaging worthy of an album that has had a huge and enduring impact on both the black metal scene and underground heavy music in general.

BOB DAISLEY Discusses OZZY OSBOURNE Lawsuit

BOB DAISLEY Discusses OZZY OSBOURNE Lawsuit

In his first interview since filing a lawsuit last week against Ozzy Osbourne for unpaid royalties, veteran bassist Bob Daisley talks with music journalist Joel Gausten about his reasons behind taking legal action, the mechanics of songwriting and performance royalties and his response to Osbourne's recent statement about the suit. An excerpt from the chat appears below. Joel Gausten: Unsurprisingly, the Osbourne camp has issued a press release regarding your new suit. What is your response?

Daisley: "[Laughs] What they've said isn't very accurate. Yes, I have had publishing money from the songwriting over the past 35 years. As far as what I've received being in the millions, no, it isn't in the millions. They've also said 'Mr. Daisley's now in retirement,' and they try to make it look like, 'Oh, he's in retirement and now he needs money because he's not doing anything.' I wouldn't care if I had $50 trillion — if somebody's taking advantage of me, I want to put a stop to it. I choose not to tour anymore, that's all, but I still write, play and record, and I'm currently doing a project that is a tribute to Gary Moore. There are some wonderful people on it who are either connected to the Gary Moore family tree or directly connected to the band. I'm just waiting on a couple of performances to come, and then we can start mixing and that album will be out. I'm really, really pleased that I've been able to do a tribute to Gary. He was amazing. The Osbournes also said in their press release that I'm ‘harassing' them... I'm not harassing anybody. I have had to resort to legal action to get the money they owe me. And I look forward to all of the true facts coming out in the lawsuit."

Joel Gausten: They also said that you have an "unhealthy personal obsession" with Ozzy and resentment towards his success.

Daisley: "[Laughs] No, I'm not obsessed. It's great that Ozzy built a lot of his success on the stuff that we wrote, because his whole career and empire was built on the foundation of those first two albums that put him back on the map. That's the foundation of what Ozzy and Sharon are sitting on. I wish Ozzy every success. I just have a problem with not getting paid properly."

Joel Gausten: It just seems it would be easier for them to simply pay you.

Daisley: "[Laughs] It would have been a lot easier. Let's look at it this way. There was enough money and enough success to pay everybody fairly and honestly. You don't need to take money out of other people's pockets, especially the people who helped your career… I don't get it. I would prefer not having to go to court. But when you're being taken advantage of, that is the remedy you have. I've also been asked why I waited so long to take action regarding these royalties and the answer is simple. The Osbournes were good at hiding what they were doing, and it was only relatively recently that I found out what was happening to me."

The complete interview is available at www.joelgausten.com.

LITA FORD: The Best And Worst Things About Writing My Autobiography

LITA FORD: The Best And Worst Things About Writing My Autobiography

During an August 17 interview at the press conference for the Hair Nation Festival at the Rainbow Bar & Grill in West Hollywood, California, '80s hard rock queen Lita Ford was asked what the best and worst things were about writing her recently released autobiography, "Lita Ford - Living Like A Runaway: A Memoir".

"Well, the worst thing, of course, would be having to remember the bad times and the hard times," she told Joe Schaeffer Photography (see video below). "I didn't have to put it in the book. I didn't have to put anything in the book, and I could have been sterile. But I didn't want it to be sterile. I wanted people to feel my pain, and I wanted people to feel my laughter and my happiness and my achievements. So it was an up and downhill battle. Trying to find the right people to work with was a challenge. They just wanted to put out their book. It was more, like, 'You know what? You just go ahead and put out your book and I'll do mine.'"

"Living Like A Runaway: A Memoir" came out on February 23 via Dey Street Books (formerly It Books), an imprint of HarperCollins Publishers.

Ford issued a new album, "Time Capsule", on April 15 via SPV/Steamhammer. The effort found her releasing archival collaborations with Billy Sheehan, Roger Carter, Dave Navarro, Jeff Scott Soho, Rick Nielsen, Robin Zander and Gene Simmons.

DINO CAZARES Says It Was

DINO CAZARES Says It Was 'Really Weird' Performing With FEAR FACTORY While Sitting Down

Dino Cazares says it was "really weird" playing with FEAR FACTORY while sitting down in a chair during the band's recent tour.

The guitarist injured his right foot after FEAR FACTORY's June 5 show in Melbourne, Australia. He saw a local doctor, who told him that he could not put any pressure on the foot for the following two weeks. As a result, Cazares sat in a chair for the last four concerts — the final two dates on the Australian tour, as well as the two South African shows.

Speaking to Hayley Leggs at this month's Bloodstock Open Air festival, Cazares stated about the experience (see video below): "What happened was I found out that I had a stress fracture in the top of my foot. So I had to sit down for four shows in South Africa and Australia. I wasn't gonna cancel the shows — not like some people I know.

"It was really weird. It took me half a set to really get into it and figure out how to play just sitting down.

"We can all play sitting down, but getting into it and doing a show, it's a little different vibe. I felt so out of place just trying to headbang. Like, 'Am I doing this right?'"

Fan-filmed video footage of FEAR FACTORY's June 11 peformance at The Assembly in Cape Town, South Africa can be seen below.

FEAR FACTORY's latest album, "Genexus", was released on August 7, 2015 via Nuclear Blast Entertainment. The follow-up to 2012's "The Industrialist" was co-produced by longtime collaborator Rhys Fulber, along with Cazares and vocalist Burton C. Bell and mixed by Andy Sneap (ARCH ENEMY, TESTAMENT, EXODUS, MACHINE HEAD). Artwork was once again handled by Anthony Clarkson. Drums on "Genexus" were performed by Mike Heller (MALIGNANCY).

FEAR FACTORY recently completed a U.S. headlining tour on which it performed its classic second album, "Demanufacture", in its entirety.

ARCHITECTS Guitarist TOM SEARLE Dead At 28

ARCHITECTS Guitarist TOM SEARLE Dead At 28

Tom Searle, guitarist and founding member of the British metalcore band ARCHITECTS, has died after a three-year battle with cancer. He was only 28 years old.

In a statement posted on the ARCHITECTS Facebook page, Tom's twin brother and bandmate Dan Searle says: "He was an incredible songwriter and guitarist. He was my closest and oldest friend. He was a funny, intelligent and sweet man and he leaves an enormous void in all of our lives.

"Many of you will be aware that Tom has been absent from various shows over the past 15 months and I can now let you know that this was due to various surgeries that he had to have to treat the cancer.

"When we left for our European festival tour on June 2nd, Tom was very unwell. He had been advised to stay in hospital to receive care but ultimately there was nothing that they could do for him and he signed himself out of the ward two days before we departed for Germany. Some of you might view this as reckless, but this is the way Tom wanted to do things throughout his last year because he never wanted the cancer to get in the way of what he loved. He got on stage and performed his last two shows at Rock Am Ring and Rock Im Park, which took him an incredible amount of strength, but those are two shows that we will never forget.

"We had to cancel our European festival tour and U.S. headline tour because on June 8th, in Luxembourg, Tom was extremely sick. We called an ambulance and he was taken into ICU. The following day, he was placed into a medically induced coma and the doctors told us that it was unlikely that they'd ever be able to wake him. Five days later, against all the odds, he was awake again, and in a few short days following that, myself and Tom cancelled the air ambulance that was due to take him home and we got the Eurostar train home. Classic Tom Searle.

"He spent the last two months of his life fighting with everything he had to overcome the disease once and for all, and things appeared to be moving in the right direction, but in the last two weeks, it suddenly took a turn for the worse and finally he left us."

He continues: "I don't know what will become of ARCHITECTS. Me and Tom started playing in a band together when we were 13 and, really, ARCHITECTS is just an evolution of the band that we started all the way back then, over half my life ago. To pretend that Tom wasn't at the heart of everything that the band created would be to show a complete lack of respect to the amazing talent that he was. The band will never be the same and there is simply no denying it.

"We will 100% tour 'All Our Gods Have Abandoned Us', there is no doubt about that. We will be going to Australia in a few weeks and we will be doing our U.K. and European headline tour in October and November. We hope that these shows will be an opportunity for everyone out there to show their respects to my wonderful brother.

"It won't be easy for us to get on stage and play every night without him, but it's something that we must do.

"We want to carry on, that is important to say, and we will strive to do so, but we will not release any music unless we truly believe that it is something that Tom would have been proud of. Whether or not we can achieve that is something that we will have to discover in time.

"For now we need to begin to process what has happened. Myself, Sam [Carter], Ali [Dean] and Adam [Christianson] will need time to fully come to terms with the loss of our brother and we hope that everyone out there will continue to respect our privacy during this terribly difficult time."

ARCHITECTS's latest album, "All Our Gods Have Abandoned Us", was released on May 27 via Epitaph.

More Details Emerge In Death Of Former 3 DOORS DOWN Guitarist MATT ROBERTS

More Details Emerge In Death Of Former 3 DOORS DOWN Guitarist MATT ROBERTS

Former 3 DOORS DOWN guitarist Matt Roberts has died of an apparent overdose. He was 38 years old.

According to the musician's father, Matt's death was caused by accidental overdose of prescription drugs.

Darrell Roberts was on the road with his son in West Bend, Wisconsin, where Matt was scheduled to perform at a charity event for veterans. The guitarist rehearsed until 1:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 20 before he went back to his hotel room.

"We go up to our room, we got adjoining rooms and — he was always looking after me as his dad — so my key didn't work and he went and came back in just a few minutes and got me a new key," Darrell told CNN. He opened the door for me and he said 'just make sure you open the adjoining room in case you need anything.' He was always looking out for me," Darrell said.

Darrell said he learned of his son's death several hours later.

"I was wakened at 8:50 [Saturday] morning by some detectives beating on my door," he said. "It's always scary as a parent. They were in suits and that's when they told me. They asked me if Matt Roberts was your son, I said yes, and they said 'we have bad news to tell you, Matt deceased last night.'"

Matt had struggled with an addiction to prescription medication but Darrell thought he had overcome it.

Darrell said: "I know he had prescription drug addiction. He suffered greatly from anxiety. It's crazy as a performer; he never liked crowds or liked places he didn't know about as a baby, as a child, and this was his way of dealing with it and me and him talked about it often. I thought he had beaten it all."

West Bend police released the following statement yesterday regarding Matt Roberts's passing:

"On Saturday, August 20, 2016 at 7:03 a.m. a citizen called West Bend Police and reported a man was either asleep or passed out in the hallway at the Hampton Inn, 1975 S. 18th St. West Bend Police and Fire Departments responded and found the man was deceased. Emergency responders attempted to revive the man, but were unable to.

"There were no signs of trauma on the body, and the cause of death is unknown at this time. An autopsy is scheduled for Sunday, August 21st.

"The man was identified as Matthew Roberts, age 38. Roberts was the former lead guitarist for the band 3 DOORS DOWN. He was in West Bend to perform at a benefit concert."

A founding member of 3 DOORS DOWN, Matt left the band in 2012 to concentrate on his health after experiencing circulation problems that were exacerbated by the group's heavy touring schedule. He was replaced by Chet Roberts.

The two other original members of 3 DOORS DOWN, Brad Arnold and Todd Harrell, have not yet publicly commented on Matt's death.

Video: SYSTEM OF A DOWN's DARON MALAKIAN Performs With MILLENNIALS In West Hollywood

SYSTEM OF A DOWN's Daron Malakian performed with the Los Angeles-based alternative music project MILLENNIALS on August 18 at The Troubadour in West Hollywood, California.

Combining elements of punk, reggae, dance music and jazz, MILLENNIALS feature drummer Mike Tree, saxophonist Matt Silberman, keyboardist Mesrop Sarkisyan and guitarist/vocalist Orbel Babayan.

Babayan says: "Most of us have known each other since we were kids, if not teens. It's a rare blessing to find people you go so far back with and make music as you could connect on what could feel like a telepathic level."

Besides spending eight years touring and recording with his other project VIZA, Babayan has written, recorded and performed with artists such as DMC (RUN-D.M.C.), Bobby Brown and Miguel.

MILLENNIALS' full-length is expected by the end of the year.

SYSTEM OF A DOWN last released new music in 2005 with the "Mezmerize" and "Hypnotize" albums, but started to tour again in 2011.

The band's singer, Serj Tankian, said in a 2015 interview that "there has been talk" of the band recording a new album, but stressed that a new record depends on whether he and Malakian have "songs that work for SYSTEM."

Meanwhile, SCARS ON BROADWAY, Malakian's side project with SYSTEM OF A DOWN drummer John Dolmayan, has not released an album since its self-titled debut in 2008.

SCARS ON BROADWAY last performed live in 2012, opening for DEFTONES at the Hollywood Palladium.

Watch TARJA TURUNEN Perform With WITHIN TEMPTATION At Germany

Watch TARJA TURUNEN Perform With WITHIN TEMPTATION At Germany's M'ERA LUNA

Former NIGHTWISH singer Tarja Turunen joined Dutch symphonic rockers WITHIN TEMPTATION on stage on August 14 at M'Era Luna festival at Flugplatz Hildesheim-Drispenstedt in Hildesheim, Germany to perform the song "Paradise (What About Us?)". Professionally filmed video footage of her appearance can be seen below.

The studio version of "Paradise (What About Us?)" — also featuring Tarja — can be found on WITHIN TEMPTATION's sixth studio album, "Hydra", which came out in January 2014.

WITHIN TEMPTATION frontwoman Sharon Den Adel previously stated about the band's collaboration with Turunen: "When we had written the first version of 'Paradise' and listened back to the demo we'd recorded and the epic power of the song, we thought of Tarja instantly. How well this track would fit her classical voice and how extra special it would be if we sang it together. The more we thought about this wild idea, the more excited we got about it!"

Following several video trailers teasing the track, fans speculated on the band's Facebook page who the duet would be with, some guessing it couldn't possibly be a "competing" artist like Tarja. However, the two singers had no hesitation joining forces, having never thought of themselves as competitors. Sharon continued: "Of course I didn't know what to expect from Tarja, as we'd never actually met in person 'till June [of 2013]. Our first encounter was via a Skype call we'd set-up to discuss the collaboration and we immediately clicked, not only creatively but personally. After we'd spoken, it felt completely natural that we would do this together!"

Tarja added: "It was very nice to finally meet Sharon and the WITHIN TEMPTATION guys. I truly appreciate the invitation and the opportunity to work with them on their song 'Paradise'. So wonderful that they thought of me! I hope our fans will like this 'girl power' duet!"

The song and accompanying music video share a central theme; that only constructive cooperation can lead to creation. To establish a new paradise, rising from the ashes of the old, we must work together.

Watch PROPHETS OF RAGE Perform In Camden, New Jersey

Fan-filmed video footage of PROPHETS OF RAGE's August 20 performance at BB&T Pavilion in Camden, New Jersey can be seen below.

PROPHETS OF RAGE is the supergroup featuring members of RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE, PUBLIC ENEMY's Chuck D and CYPRESS HILL's B-Real.

The band will release its debut EP, "The Party's Over", on August 26. The five-song effort will include the previously released, eponymous single "Prophets Of Rage" — re-imagination of the PUBLIC ENEMY track of the same name — as well as live versions of RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE's "Killing In The Name" and PUBLIC ENEMY's "Shut 'Em Down", a Republican National Convention-inspired interpretation of BEASTIE BOYS' "No Sleep 'Till Brooklyn" called "No Sleep 'Till Cleveland", and the new original "The Party's Over". Even though PROPHETS OF RAGE does not feature RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE frontman Zack de la Rocha, the group plays classics like "Bulls On Parade" along with tunes by PUBLIC ENEMY and CYPRESS HILL.

"I think the music of RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE is more relevant today than it was when it was written," Morello told Cleveland.com. "And we give a lot of credit and honor to Zack at every show because his lyrics are brilliant."

Last month, PROPHETS OF RAGE released the "Prophets Of Rage" single through digital download and streaming services. Featuring new music and a new original verse from B-Real, the single was recorded with legendary producer Brendan O'Brien who has done notable work with RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE and AUDIOSLAVE.

PROPHETS OF RAGE made their live debut in May in Los Angeles, playing numbers from all three acts.

METALLICA Performs

METALLICA Performs 'Hardwired' Song Live For First Time, Releases New Album Trailer

METALLICA performed its new song "Hardwired" live for the first time Saturday night (August 20) during the band's headlining concert at the U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Video and audio footage of the performance is available below.

"The song 'Hardwired', the first time we played that all in the same room was this Monday, so this is as fresh off the assembly line as rock and roll gets," METALLICA drummer Lars Ulrich told Fox 9. "So, it's been an intense week and we're excited about launching the next chapter of METALLICA's career here in Minneapolis."

METALLICA became the second ever band to rock U.S. Bank Stadium, which sold out in less than ten minutes after tickets went on sale this past March.

"It never gets old," Ulrich said. "If it ever gets old, punch me. Slap me around do something. Now there are 55,000 people out there. It's pretty crazy. It does not get old. It gets cooler and cooler actually as we go along."

Ulrich told StarTribune.com in a locker room before showtime: "This place looks amazing from our vantage point. I got goose bumps looking at those 50,000 purple seats and knowing the history the color purple has in this town."

"Hardwired" is taken from METALLICA's tenth studio album, "Hardwired...To Self-Destruct", which will be released on November 18 via Blackened Recordings. The long-awaited follow-up to 2008's "Death Magnetic" consists of two discs, containing a dozen songs and nearly 80 minutes of music.

A newly released trailer for "Hardwired...To Self-Destruct", is available below.

Lars also talked about how the "Kill 'Em All" and "Ride The Lightning" reissues affected the making of "Hardwired".

Thomas Kociela conducted the concert.

A newly released official promotional video of the performance — which is currently being used to book additional dates — can be seen below.

This free event was produced by the City Of Temecula under the coordination of Gail Zigler, senior coordinator of arts, culture and events. Together these three organizations brought this epic event to the steps of Temecula's City Hall.

Individually, each of the rock stars has performed with several legendary rock bands worldwide:

Legendary rock drummer Vinny Appice's history includes BLACK SABBATH, DIO, HEAVEN & HELL, Rick Derringer and John Lennon. In April 2014, along with former members of DIO (Vivian Campbell and Jimmy Bain), Vinny began recording tracks for his new band LAST IN LINE along with Andrew Freeman on vocals. Currently, Vinny is on tour with LAST IN LINE, RESURRECTION KINGS, and "Drum Wars", in which he is joined by his brother Carmine Appice.

Rudy Sarzo is a hard rock/heavy metal bassist who has recorded and toured with many well-known heavy metal and hard rock bands, including QUIET RIOT, OZZY OSBOURNE, WHITESNAKE, and BLUE ÖYSTER CULT. Andrew Freeman is the lead singer of LAST IN LINE with former original members of DIO. In early 2014, Freeman joined the critically acclaimed production show "Raiding The Rock Vault" at the Las Vegas Hotel, where he performs five shows a week on vocals, guitar and bass with other musicians such as Robin McAuley (SURVIVOR, MSG), Howard Leese (BAD COMPANY, HEART), Paul Shortino (QUIET RIOT) and Doug Aldrich (WHITESNAKE). Freeman has also performed on three tours as lead vocalist for guitarist George Lynch's LYNCH MOB and as a guitarist/back-up vocalist for THE OFFSPRING.

These dates and the previously announced headlining slot at at the Ozzfest Meets Knotfest weekend event on Saturday, September 24 in San Bernardino, California come at the end of the band's North American tour, which kicks off on August 17 in Wantagh, New York.

SABBATH will make their final visits to Mexico and South America at the end of the year as they wind down their farewell tour.

SABBATH will bring its storied career to a close in the band's native England, with seven shows booked there in January and February. The last two, on February 2 and February 4, will take place in SABBATH's hometown of Birmingham and will likely be their final shows.

The original lineup of SABBATH came together in 1969 with Ozzy Osbourne on vocals, Tony Iommi on guitar, Butler on bass and Bill Ward on drums. That lineup recorded and toured through 1978, and periodically reformed through the '90s and 2000s for live work.

They regrouped again in late 2011 for a new album and tour, although Ward dropped out after just a few months. The remaining trio issued the "13" album in 2013 and backed it with a successful world tour — despite Iommi being treated for lymphoma since 2012.

PHILIP ANSELMO Fronts EYEHATEGOD At New Orleans Concert (Video)

PHILIP ANSELMO Fronts EYEHATEGOD At New Orleans Concert (Video)

Former PANTERA and current DOWN/SUPERJOINT singer Philip Anselmo fronted fellow New Orleans noise merchants EYEHATEGOD at a hometown concert last night (Friday, August 19) at the Southport Music Hall. He was filling in for EYEHATEGOD singer Michael IX Williams, who was unable to make the concert due to "health issues."

Video footage of the performance can be seen below.

Anselmo will also sing for EYEHATEGOD at the seventh annual GWAR B-Q on August 20 in Richmond, Virgina.

Earlier in the month, Anselmo stated about his temporary stint with EYEHATEGOD: "When our brothers in one of New Orleans's most influential music outfits needs me, I'm there, one thousand percent

"There is no secret that I adore my brethren in EYEHATEGOD, as I've always supported them through thick and thin. This present situation will be no different.

"In light of Michael D. Williams's health issues, which he needs to address more importantly than any other point in his life, and should be respected by anyone with a heart, I will do my best to fill in for him. Those are mighty big shoes to fill, but I shall do my best, once again.

"I do believe I speak on behalf of the concerned parties when I state that we ALL NEED Mike IX Williams to heal, recover, and get better [as soon as possible].

"These gigs are NOT about me; it is about keeping the obligations of EYEHATEGOD so, as a band and force, they are able to stay true to their commitments to these two gigs.

"My admiration of Mike and all his works, especially EYEHATEGOD, knows zero boundaries, hence, me doing these gigs.

"Here's to Mike's recovery, and here's to supporting these shows on his behalf. Much love to everyone."

Mike IX Williams added: "Phil has my full blessings for these shows and with all forces willing, I will return to the stage as soon as I am physically able."

In a 2005 interview with Revolver magazine, Anselmo said about Williams: "I've known [him] since seventh grade. We'd run into each other at shows, bars, and eventually we became friends.

"Mike's story is one of great sadness and great victory. At an extremely young age, both of his parents passed away. Still, every time you saw Mike Williams, his head was high. He was a cocky bastard, man. He was punk rock from the day I met him. He's such a survivor, with such will and talent."

EYEHATEGOD guitarist Jimmy Bower is Anselmo's bandmate in both DOWN (where Bower plays drums) and SUPERJOINT (with Bower on guitar).

Former PANTERA Bassist REX BROWN To Release Solo Album

Former PANTERA Bassist REX BROWN To Release Solo Album

Former PANTERA and DOWN bassist Rex Brown will release his solo debut album next year. The effort, which he describes as a "monster," will see him singing and playing guitar and bass on tracks inspired by his love of 1970s music.

Brown tells U.K.'s Metal Hammer: "I had to get off that bus after 25 years or more. I reached a point where I wanted to take some time off, watch my kids grow, be at home and just find out what the next journey is.

"I went to Nashville last summer, and I have this good friend who sits in his bedroom and writes incredible stuff. I'd found this tape with about 80 different riffs, so we started piecing together these songs. I've been going back and forth to Nashville from maybe last September. I think the longest I was there was 11 days, getting a feel for the band.

"I'm enjoying playing music again — and that took a while.”

Regarding the musical direction of his solo debut, Rex says: "It's a rock and roll record. It's not your standard fare or typical metal thing. I was always a big [LED] ZEPPELIN fan and even though it has its little fringes of it... It's a new journey that sounds like anywhere from FOGHAT to old Tom Waits. I'm a child of the 70s and I love those kind of songs.

"At this point I've hit every goddamned peak and valley that you want to hit. As an artist I don't want to be looked on as 'just that bass player from PANTERA.'

"There are other things in life that I want to do, and this is one of them. It's not just a fluke — we already have enough material for the next two, possibly three, records.

"I'm doing a solo record, I'm fucking singing on it and you're gonna dig it!"

After leaving DOWN in 2011, Rex went on play with KILL DEVIL HILL, which has released two albums so far: "Kill Devil Hill" (2012) and "Revolution Rise" (2013).

KILL DEVIL HILL will perform at the ReeveLand festival in Markneukirchen, Germany on September 3.

Brown's memoir, "Official Truth, 101 Proof: The Inside Story Of Pantera", was released in March 2013 via Da Capo Press.

BEHEMOTH: Pro-Shot Footage Of Entire BLOODSTOCK OPEN AIR Concert

BEHEMOTH: Pro-Shot Footage Of Entire BLOODSTOCK OPEN AIR Concert

Professionally filmed video footage of BEHEMOTH's entire performance at this year's edition of the Bloodstock Open Air festival, which was held August 11-14 at Catton Hall, Walton-On-Trent, West Midlands, United Kingdom, can be seen below.

BEHEMOTH frontman Adam "Nergal" Darski recently told Jägermeister about the creative process: "It's maybe not the nicest comparison I can come up with, but it's very organic. It's like when you wake up in the morning and you feel like the shit is coming. It's pretty much the same with performing and with creating new music. It's literally very much like defecating. It's there in your system; you've gotta have it out. But, obviously, you take a crap a couple of times a day, but when it comes to new music, it happens when it happens, and I can't really force myself. So, yeah, I just feel it — I feel it in my balls, I feel it in my bones. And if it's ready to have it out, I just get it out somehow. It's all about the right timing, I'd say. I can just jam on my guitar, and then, all of a sudden, some pattern comes out, or a riff, or a chorus of a potential song. And the other time, it's the other way around — I just come up with a songtitle, and then it sparks, and it turns into a song eventually. And there's probably five or ten more formulas or ways I can work with a song. So it's hard to say, you know. I like it that way. I like it that it's just different ways of achieving the same goal."

BEHEMOTH completed a North America tour this past spring where the band played its latest album, "The Satanist", in its entirety. In addition to the concert, fans also had the chance to view "The Congregation" exhibition at each venue. Dubbed "a symbiosis of BEHEMOTH and Toxic Vision," the display showcased the collaboration between the two parties.

"The Satanist" sold around 10,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 34 on The Billboard 200 chart.

GUNS N

GUNS N' ROSES Plays First Hometown Show At Los Angeles' Dodger Stadium: Video, Photos

The partly reunited classic lineup of GUNS N' ROSES hit Dodger Stadium Thursday night (August 18) for the first of two hometown shows as part of the influential hard-rock band's "Not In This Lifetime" tour.

Three separate reviews of the concert can be found at the links below:

* Los Angeles Times* The Orange County Register* MXDWN.com

GUNS N' ROSES' "Not In This Lifetime" stadium tour features classic lineup members Slash (guitar), Duff McKagan (bass) and Axl Rose (vocals) backed by drummer Frank Ferrer, guitarist Richard Fortus, keyboardist Dizzy Reed and new second keyboardist Melissa Reese.

Slash told Boston's WZLX radio station about the trek: "Everybody's getting along, everybody's playing great. We were all pretty positive that that would never happen so it's still sort of blowing our minds. It seems so surreal to me, but everybody's really getting along great and I think everybody's come a long way and it's all cool."

Live Nation exec Bob Roux predicted the company would sell one million tickets for the 25-show tour, roughly 90 percent of what was available. He added that some less well-attended shows were the result of the band playing cities it wanted to play, rather than sticking to the highest population centers that would better guarantee sellouts.

Drummer Steven Adler performed with GUNS N' ROSES at two shows early last month. Adler joined GUNS for "My Michelle" and "Out Ta Get Me" on July 6 in Cincinnati and July 9 in Nashville.

Guitarist Izzy Stradlin remains the last member of the classic band to keep his distance from the current reunion, with unconfirmed reports suggesting that he was approached about the reunion, but did not wish to tour and/or was not happy with the money he was offered.

Reed, a 22-year veteran of the group, told The Pulse Of Radio a while back that unpredictability has always been part of the band. "The volatility is definitely still there, especially for me, because I've seen a lot," he said. "It keeps you on your toes for sure. I just show up every night as prepared as possible to do my job, and anything else that happens is out of my control. There's really no way to truly deal with that."
