IN FLAMES:

IN FLAMES: 'Take This Life' Performance Clip From 'Sounds From The Heart Of Gothenburg' DVD

Swedish metallers IN FLAMES will release their new concert DVD, "Sounds From The Heart Of Gothenburg", on September 23 via Nuclear Blast.

A performance clip of the song "Take This Life", taken from the "Sounds From The Heart Of Gothenburg" DVD, can be seen below.

Nostalgia or a return to their roots has never been an option for the progressive IN FLAMES, but the setlist of this bombastic DVD tears through the band's entire history. With 20 tracks, the show that was recorded on November 7, 2014 at Scandinavium in Gothenburg, Sweden reaches a length of one and a half hours, and achieves in capturing the band at their very best, celebrating current hits such as "Through Oblivion", "With Eyes Wide Open" and "Rusted Nail" to a packed arena. But, of course, old-school classics like "Trigger", "Cloud Connected" and the hypnotic closer "Take This Life" are not left out. Prepare for an intense and visually explosive performance in front of ten thousand fans, featuring pyros, circle pits, flying crowdsurfers and IN FLAMES' incomparable riffs. "This DVD is for everyone who was been following our career; we have songs from the early years, the middle years and the new era," states IN FLAMES guitarist Björn Gelotte. "It has to be fun for us to play but also fun for the audience to watch and we try to get a good flow with nice dynamics and different songs."

IN FLAMES recently signed with Nuclear Blast for all territories excluding North America and Scandinavia.

Formed in 1990, the band is considered one of the forefathers of melodic death metal and the purveyors of the "Gothenburg sound." With eleven studio albums released, countless successful tours around the globe, millions of records sold and a massive fanbase worldwide, IN FLAMES has proven to be an unstoppable force in heavy music. From their 1994 debut, "Lunar Strain", to the most recent CD, "Siren Charms" (2014), the band's intricate twin-guitar attack, melodic vocals and superb arrangements have given them a signature sound that has evolved throughout the years.

"In a way, IN FLAMES and Nuclear Blast share a similar story," said IN FLAMES vocalist Anders Fridén. "Both started in a garage in Europe, both love metal and both have grown a lot bigger over the years. For these reasons, it seemed a natural fit to come back to the place it all started."

"We're enormously happy that IN FLAMES decided to return and trust in us for the second time — Nuclear Blast is their home again from now on. I remember well how their debut album, 'Lunar Strain', inspired me back in the days. I was totally fascinated by their great and absolutely unique blend of death metal with delicate melodies," commented Nuclear Blast CEO Markus Staiger. "One year later, IN FLAMES signed with us and released eight splendid records over the years, including groundbreaking classics such as 'Whoracle', 'Clayman' and 'Reroute To Remain'. IN FLAMES developed all the time, reinvented themselves again and again and enthused fans of various genres with their always innovative sound. We're looking forward to the common future with Anders, Björn, Peter and Niclas."

IN FLAMES has been working on a new studio album, the details of which have not yet been announced.

IN FLAMES last year inked a new management deal with Tenth Street Entertainment, which also looks after MÖTLEY CRÜE and FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH, among others.

"Siren Charms" sold around 9,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 26 on The Billboard 200 chart.

IN FLAMES drummer Daniel Svensson announced last fall that he was leaving the band to focus on his family life. He said in a statement: "It's hard to leave what have become my second family, but now it's time for me to take care and spend more time with the most important people in my life — my wife and my three daughters."

IN FLAMES has not yet named a replacement for Svensson.

IN FLAMES is:

LIVING COLOUR To Release

LIVING COLOUR To Release 'Mixtape' Featuring Reinvention Of NOTORIOUS B.I.G.'s 'Who Shot Ya'

Legendary rock band LIVING COLOUR will release "Mixtape" on September 9 — a new EP based upon their powerful reinvention of Notorious B.I.G.'s "Who Shot Ya" and a subsequent series of remixes. The cornerstone of the set is producer Andre Betts's remix, which includes guest verses by Chuck D., Prodigal Sunn, Black Thought, Pharoahe Monch and Kyle Mansa. The members of LIVING COLOUR, who've been politically outspoken in the past, were inspired to release the song by the ongoing crisis of gun violence and police brutality towards people of color in the U.S.

"Our version of 'Who Shot Ya' was initially an organic outgrowth of pure fandom for the work of the brilliant Christopher Wallace. Corey [Glover, vocals] would frequently sing the song during soundcheck, so we worked it up," says LIVING COLOUR guitarist Vernon Reid. "But tragically Biggie's question has taken on new and urgent significance over the last year.

"The amount of people who die on a daily basis because of gun violence is unacceptable in a civilized society. The disproportionate use of deadly force in communities of color is equally unacceptable in a civilized society. It inspired the idea to reach out to some of the most provocative voices in hip-hop to invite them to add their words to the track.

"We all feel paralyzed as to how we can meaningfully affect change, but at the least we can keep our voices raised in solidarity and not let this plight fade into the background until it happens again."

LIVING COLOUR continue to tour extensively around the world, including shows this summer with JANE'S ADDICTION and DINOSAUR JR.

The band will be among the headliners at AfroPunk Fest next week in Brooklyn.

They're currently putting the finishing touches on their first new full-length studio album in seven years, titled "Shade", which is planned for an early 2017 release.

BLACK SABBATH has announced that it will play its last show ever in the U.S. on November 12 at AT&T Center in San Antonio, Texas. The gig will take place nearly five years to the day that the legendary act announced their reunion.

The group has also added two more headlining shows to its North American trek, on November 8 at the BOK Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma and November 10 at Toyota Center in Houston, Texas.

These dates and the previously announced headlining slot at at the Ozzfest Meets Knotfest weekend event on Saturday, September 24 in San Bernardino, California come at the end of the band's North American tour, which kicks off on August 17 in Wantagh, New York.

SABBATH will make their final visits to Mexico and South America at the end of the year as they wind down their farewell tour.

SABBATH will bring its storied career to a close in the band's native England, with seven shows booked there in January and February. The last two, on February 2 and February 4, will take place in SABBATH's hometown of Birmingham and will likely be their final shows.

The original lineup of SABBATH came together in 1969 with Ozzy Osbourne on vocals, Tony Iommi on guitar, Butler on bass and Bill Ward on drums. That lineup recorded and toured through 1978, and periodically reformed through the '90s and 2000s for live work.

They regrouped again in late 2011 for a new album and tour, although Ward dropped out after just a few months. The remaining trio issued the "13" album in 2013 and backed it with a successful world tour — despite Iommi being treated for lymphoma since 2012.

PINK FLOYD Vinyl Releases Continue On PINK FLOYD Records With Atom Heart Mother, Meddle And Obscured By Clouds

PINK FLOYD Vinyl Releases Continue On PINK FLOYD Records With Atom Heart Mother, Meddle And Obscured By Clouds

On September 23rd, Pink Floyd Records will continue the reintroduction of the Pink Floyd catalogue on vinyl with Atom Heart Mother, Meddle and Obscured By Clouds, all remastered from the original analogue master tapes. The Wall and The Division Bell are also back in stock on vinyl from August 26th.

Pink Floyd followed their 60s albums with their fifth studio album, 1970‘s Atom Heart Mother. Featuring the classic lineup of Roger Waters, David Gilmour, Richard Wright and Nick Mason, the LP went on to become the band‘s first UK No.1 record.

In a short break from touring Atom Heart Mother, in 1971 Pink Floyd released the experimental album, Meddle. The LP saw the band move musical direction away from their original psychedelic sound, especially highlighted by the 23-minute track Echoes which occupied the entirety of the b-side of the record.

Pink Floyd‘s seventh album, Obscured By Clouds was originally recorded as the soundtrack to the French film ‘La Vallée’ but released as a stand alone album in 1972.

The Piper At The Gates Of Dawn, A Saucerful Of Secrets, More, Ummagumma, are also available through Pink Floyd Records. For more information, head here.

DESTROYING THE DEVOID - Paramnesia Debut Streaming Online

DESTROYING THE DEVOID - Paramnesia Debut Streaming Online

Destroying The Devoid - the progressive death metal venture led by Craig Peters of Deeds Of Flesh and formerly Arkaik - will unleash the exploratory brutality of full-length debut, Paramnesia, via Unique Leader Records tomorrow, August 19th.

The seven-track, 46-minute sonic escapade was engineered and produced by Peters at Carnivale Nocturno Studios with all mixing and mastering handled by Zack Ohren (Deeds Of Flesh, Arkaik, Suffocation) at Castle Ultimate Productions and cover art by Frank Barrera.

In advance of its official unveiling, Paramnesia is streaming in its entirety via the SoundCloud audio player below.

Paramnesia is a challenging and ultimately thrilling listen that takes its listeners through a shadowy exploration of the human psyche, specifically how an individual's personality and perception of the world are molded and eventually dictated by their personal relationships and experiences. Through repeated interactions, once unique strangers gradually morph into fragmented pieces of one another, now completely interspersed. This is essentially paramnesia: the inability to distinguish between fact and fiction.

Paramnesia tracklisting:

“Chasm Of Existence”
“The Endless Cycles Of Lunacy”
“Carnivale Nocturno”
“Paramnesia”
“Beyond The Dark Veil”
“Part I: The Co-Existing Gaze”
“Part II: Into The Darkness Beyond”
“Part III: Beneath The Boughs”

RIOT V Guitarist MIKE FLYNTZ Makes FAITH AND FIRE Unreleased Demos Available

RIOT V Guitarist MIKE FLYNTZ Makes FAITH AND FIRE Unreleased Demos Available

Mike Flyntz of American metal band Riot has made available online the original demos of Faith And Fire, the project formed with ex-Riot Vocalist Tony Moore plus bassist Danny Miranda and drummer John Micelli,  these 12 songs include one previously unreleased track "Ann's Room" which never made the final release.

Says Mike, "Faith and Fire was created when Danny Miranda and I decided to write and record as a project. Paul Orofino planted the seed in my head when he was working on the Westworld records with Mark Reale. I immediately knew I wanted to track down Tony Moore and have him sing since I was always a big fan of his and it was a long time since he released anything publicly. Danny suggested we use John Micelli on drums from Meat Loaf. We started writing in 2002 and didn't release the record until 2006. I think the record is a nice combination of writing styles of Danny and I. Since we didn't have a budget prior I funded the record myself,  'Ann's Room' is a tune that never got released. It's a nice departure from the rest of the album."

Faith And Fire - The Demos , plus the debut album Accelerator are available here. Fans who purchase the physical signed CD get a free download of the demo tracks.

Former UFO Bassist PETE WAY Released From Hospital

Former UFO Bassist PETE WAY Released From Hospital

Former UFO and WAYSTED bassist Pete Way has been released from hospital after suffering a heart attack last weekend.

He says in a statement: "I must thank the staff at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital who treated me with such kindness — from the porters and paramedics to the nurses and doctors and all the staff at Ward 22. Nothing was too much trouble and they all had a cheery smile for me. I couldn't have asked for better care anywhere in the world. I would also like to thank my wife Jenny who has been my rock and, like the cancer, I'm sure I wouldn't have beaten it without her and, of course, you guys.

"I do believe in the power of prayer but, to be honest, I really don't feel very well. Jenny won't let me lift a finger so hopefully I will start to feel better after some home rest and cooking."

According to Way's wife and manager Jenny, Pete will return to hospital in a few weeks to have an electric shock put through his heart to get the organ beating normally. If that proves unsuccessful, he faces an operation to repair a valve.

Pete has spent the past couple of years working on a new solo album, "Walking On The Edge", which is tentatively due before the end of 2016. It was mixed by producer/engineer Mike Clink, who has previously worked with GUNS N' ROSES and METALLICA.

In a 2014 interview with Myglobalmind, Way spoke about his well-publicized struggle with addiction and how it affected the making of his new CD. He said: "Put it like this: I wouldn't be thinking about sticking a needle in my arm at the moment, or later or when ever. That's something that has been and gone. When you have gone that far, you get to the point where you know there is no return.

"I decided that I wanted to be a musician and I wanted to go back to my roots. I still continue to write, but, unfortunately, there came a time where just when we were about to finish it off when, bang, you get told that you can't really work for about nine months. We have been making up for it by being in the studios as much as possible."

Way co-founded UFO in London in 1969, but left in 1982, after which he played bass with OZZY OSBOURNE. Way rejoined UFO in 1988 and remained with the band through 2008.

Fan-filmed video footage of the concert can be seen below.

AVENGED SEVENFOLD's show at First Avenue marked the band's appearance with drummer Brooks Wackerman, who joined AVENGED last year after the departure of Arin Ilejay.

Saturday night's show at U.S. Bank Stadium will be the first rock event at the new venue and METALLICA's only concert in the United States so far in 2016.

AVENGED SEVENFOLD has been recording its seventh studio album, but it's not clear when the disc will be released since the band announced earlier this year that it was attempting to sever its contract with Warner Bros. Records.

The label sued the group in January for breach of contract, claiming the band owed it another studio effort and a live set on its existing deal.

AVENGED SEVENFOLD said at the time that "none of the senior management or A&R executives who were at the company and responsible for signing us are still there."

The band's previous two releases, 2013's "Hail To The King" and 2010's "Nightmare", both topped the Billboard album chart.

GODSMACK Frontman SULLY ERNA: Lyric Video For

GODSMACK Frontman SULLY ERNA: Lyric Video For 'Different Kind Of Tears' Song From 'Hometown Life' Solo Album

Sully Erna — founder, vocalist, guitarist and songwriter for the multi-platinum rock band GODSMACK — will release a new solo album, "Hometown Life", on Friday, September 30 via BMG.

Composed by Sully on piano and acoustic guitar and produced in his New Hampshire studio, "Hometown Life" offers a departure from the tribal, world music feel and experimentation on 2010's "Avalon"; the new album's ten songs are more accessible, sonically and musically precise.

The official lyric video for the song "Different Kind Of Tears", taken from "Hometown Life", can be seen below.

"When I do a solo album, I write for myself," says Sully. "It's not for critics, radio or even fans. I like to explore different kinds of music that work together. A good song is a good song. I stopped categorizing a long time ago."

A personal, confessional, raw work which takes yet another stylistic left-hand turn from the music he has created as frontman for the multi-platinum rock band GODSMACK, "Hometown Life" offers a wide-ranging glimpse of Erna's eclectic musical tastes — from the singer-songwriter Billy Joel/Bruce Springsteen narratives of the title track and the bossa nova touch of "Take All of Me" to the breezy island feel of "Your Own Drum", the finger-snapping Motown bass lines of the bluesy "Turn It Up", the country flavors of "Different Kind Of Tears" and the wide-screen canvas of mini-symphonies "Blue Skies" and "Forever My Infinity". All of them are tied together with Sully's unflinching view of the emotional roller-coaster of his life, drawing us into an intimate space. "Hometown Life" explores Sully's diverse musical touchstones from James Bay, new country favorites like Chris Stapleton and Brantley Gilbert to soul legends Ray Charles, Etta James and Amy Winehouse.

For "Hometown Life", Sully worked with thesame musicians from "Avalon" with the exception of percussionist Niall Gregory. On two of the songs — "Different Kind Of Tears" and "Your Own Drum" — Sully collaborated with Nashville-based tunesmith Zac Malloy, who has also written for Carrie Underwood, Tim McGraw, Jake Owen, Skillet and Daughtry. "It was cool to see the same exact players sound completely different on this album," Sully says. "It just goes to show their musicianship and versatility. They can really pull off anything I ask of them."

With Sully on piano, acoustic guitar and the stray bongo, "Hometown Life" was also a family affair, with his 71-year-old father Salvatore — who helped nurture his son's own musical interest early on — playing trumpet on "Turn It Up". It's a song Erna describes as a tribute to the power of music, a blueprint for how a song "makes you get off your seat, tap your feet, feel the energy and let it pass through you."

"It was a proud moment," says Sully, who also channeled his great-uncle, a famed composer from Sicily, in several of the songs which feature symphonic strings, like "Blue Skies", "Forever My Infinity", "Father Of Time" and "Falling to Black".

"Hometown Life" allows an inside glimpse at Sully's vulnerability on a personal level, and he attributes much of his honesty and inspiration for this album to the love of his life, Sarah.

"We've definitely gone through some complicated times and fought for what we have," he says. "And I'm really grateful to have her in my life. We have a very special and unique kind of relationship that most people can only dream of having. And I wouldn't put that second to anything!

"These songs are about exposing my inner thoughts, laying myself bare, being honest and expressing genuine emotions... about dark times and positive ones."

Some songs offer fatherly advice, like the percussion-heavy "Your Own Drum", an admonition to his teenage daughter to follow her own muse and not be afraid to be different, or trying to deal with life's hurried pace, as in the rhythmic tick-tock of "Father Of Time". On the soaring "Blue Skies", Sully reaches out to his loved ones and asks them to acknowledge the man and father he has become from the immature boy he once was.

As for how his solo career fits in with his "other band," Sully is circumspect. "GODSMACK is a very energetic, aggressive, powerhouse rock band," he says. "It's for those moments when you want to scream and stomp your feet. My solo stuff is a lot more vulnerable, the grown-up version of who I am and how I process. It's about finding acceptance for the things that don't go right in your life, being appreciative for all the memories, good or bad. Sometimes these experiences can be very painful, but I do get some beautiful songs out of it. I'm just happy to be blessed with a gift that enables me to channel this stuff and vent it through my music."

"Hometown Life" does just that, revealing sides of Sully Erna only hinted at in GODSMACK, "That's the whole point," he explains. "The people who have followed me and can appreciate it, I encourage them to explore. All my albums — including the ones with GODSMACK — are like musical journals, diaries of what I've gone through in my life at the time. I'd love to reach a whole new audience with this. Music has helped me get through some tough times. That's when I write, when something affects me emotionally, happy or sad."

"For all those things we've ever done/Give us our chance to prove our love," sings Sully on the album's closing track "Falling To Black". He describes it as "a beautifully sad song," which offers a glimpse of light at the end of the tunnel. The same could be said of "Hometown Life". As Sully himself puts it in "Your Own Drum": "There's no shadows/If you don't have light."

"Hometown Life" track listing:

01. Hometown Life02. Your Own Drum03. Different Kind Of Tears04. Take All Of Me05. Don't Comfort Me06. Turn It Up!07. Blue Skies08. Forever My Infinity09. Father Of Time10. Falling To Black

VENOM PRISON Streaming New Track “Abysmal Agony”

VENOM PRISON Streaming New Track “Abysmal Agony”

South Wales, UK death metal outfit, Venom Prison, are streaming the new track “Abysmal Agony”, featured on their upcoming debut full-length album, Animus, due for release in stores and online on October 14th via Prosthetic Records.

Of the new track, vocalist Larissa Stupar comments: "Animus focuses on the many oppressive forces that, in our view, attempt to control what we say, what we do and what we believe. Lyrically, “Abysmal Agony” challenges the norms and values that underpin contemporary society. It is very apparent that our preconceptions of mental health for example are governed by what society deems to be madness in the first place. “Abysmal Agony” sets out to question the parameters and that pre-determination between what is madness and what is sanity. That isn’t a question that too many people want to ask, but it is a determination that governs our everyday existence.”

Listen to the track below:

Recorded by Tom Dring at Vagrant Recordings (Dragged Into Sunlight, Electric Wizard), Animus is 10 tracks of aural assaulting brutality. Venom Prison tackle subjects such as social Darwinism, misogyny, rape culture and the rejection of God and religion. As seen below, the artwork for Animus was created by German based legendary artist, Eliran Kantor (Testament, Sigh) who worked closely with Larissa to capture some of the themes of the album.

Stupar elaborates: “The album's lyrics capture and portray various forms of fighting an oppressive force. One of them struck Eliran's eye as the most livid out of them all. In Perpetrator Emasculation a rapist is being force-fed his own genitalia. It's not a secret that death metal art and lyrical content often involve violence against women and we liked the idea of turning the tables. That lyrical segment depicts the title and theme of the record very well and the visual execution makes your flesh crawl with vengeance."

Tracklisting:

“Syllogism”
“Abysmal Agony”
“Celestial Patricide”
“Desecration of Human Privilege”
“Corrode The Black Sun”
“Immanetize Eschaton”
“The Exquisite Taste of Selfishness”
“Devoid”
“Perpetrator Emasculation”
“Womb Forced Animus”

MOTOROWL Release Music Video For “The Highest City, Pt. 1”

Psychedelic doom rockers, Motorowl, have released a video for the track “The Highest City, Pt. 1”, featured on their upcoming debut album, Om Generator. The new clip can be found below.

Created with pure passion and incredible, mature song-writing skills, the band's debut, Om Generator, was co-produced by Fabian Hildebrandt (of label mates Deserted Fear) and the mighty Dan Swanö took over mix and mastering duties.

Dan Swanö: "Amazing mixture of stoner and 70's hard rock executed with finesse. I had an amazing time mixing their songs, that always seemed to take a turn towards the unexpected."

Fabian Hildebrandt: “It does say something, when a band goes from a rancid rehearsal room in Gera straight away to touring with Bombus, and even manages to convince a label as renowned as Century Media. I still remember vividly, how they asked me to record their album. Initially, I was rather critical, but after I saw them live I immediately knew that I HAD TO. Stunning… extremely young, no idea about nothing, yet insanely talented! Motorowl are a true rock band and I am curious to see, where the future journey of Daniel, Martin, Max, Tim and Vinz will take them.”

Ireland’s PSYKOSIS Premier “Diller Killer” Music Video

Ireland’s PSYKOSIS Premier “Diller Killer” Music Video

Off the back of a blistering performance last weekend at Bloodstock Festival, Irish thrashers Psykosis today unveil a new music video for “Driller Killer”, the first single from their debut full length album, Welcome To The Psyko Ward.

Frontman Grant Walsh comments, "We chose “Driller Killer” as our single because it shows a lot of playing styles and is a good example of what the album is sounding like. It's fast, catchy, funky and thrashy, you can bang your head, sing along or dance to it. The song is written about the serial Killer Jeffery Dalmer, who used to drill into his victims brains and pour eroding acid into the drill hole to make his victim a lifeless drone to obey his every command, so we thought that was pretty cool topic, and started writing “Driller Killer”.”

Hailing from Dublin, Ireland, Psykosis formed in 2008 after a booze fuelled binge and desire to inject some good fun into the rich but sombre Irish metal scene. The band began honing their sound on the stages of Dublin and progressed to headliner gigs and support slots with internationally recognized acts such as D.R.I., Sacred Reich, Evile, Blaze Bayley and Gama Bomb.

The band got their first break in mainland UK when they were invited to Bloodstock Open Air in the summer of 2014. Their performance has gone down in the history books of the festival as during their set Psykosis and their crew threw out hundred's of bottles of home brew just prior to performing the song “Beach Party”, a song which the band were more than happy to share their inflatable beach toys with the appreciative crowd for. From that moment the band have been inviting folk all across the UK to their fun filled shows as well as having set sail and ventured to far flung places (from little old Ireland at least) such as Metal Days in Slovenia and more.

Last weekend saw the band return to Bloodstock, with twice as much beer and twice as many inflatables, and coincidentally, one of those inflatable whales was spotted days later in the crowd as Gojira's played their epic, “Flying Whales”. Things are certainly looking up for the Irish lads.

Welcome To The Psyko Ward is set for release on September 16th and is available to order here.

METALLICA will release its long-awaited new album, "Hardwired…To Self-Destruct", on November 18. The follow-up to 2008's "Death Magnetic" consists of two discs, with nearly 80 minutes of music.

Says the band: "'Hardwired…' represents the next phase of our journey as METALLICA and we are so excited to share it with you.

"If anyone was tuned into radio station 93X in Minneapolis earlier today, you heard the world debut of the first track, 'Hardwired', and we're hoping you'll hear a lot more of it in the coming days.

"Produced by Greg Fidelman, along with James [Hetfield] and Lars [Ulrich], this is our eleventh studio album and is available for pre-order in a variety of configurations including 12 songs on a double CD, vinyl, digital download, as well as a deluxe version with the riffs that were the origins of the album. Watch the official video for "Hardwired" below. The band debuted the track in a Facebook Live broadcast from their studio in San Rafael, California, where Ulrich and bassist Robert Trujillo talked about the upcoming album. Ulrich also revealed that a METALLICA pop-up store will launch in Minneapolis, where the band is scheduled to play a concert on Saturday. "The album's not actually finished," Ulrich said. "It will be done in the next week or so."

Ulrich recently spoke to Citizens Of Humanity magazine about the musical direction of the group's long-awaited follow-up to 2008's "Death Magnetic". He said: "It definitely sounds like METALLICA. It's probably a little less frenetic than the last record. The last one [producer] Rick Rubin really encouraged us to for the first time be inspired by our past. It was the first time we sort of looked in the rearview mirror. This time around it's a little bit of a different thing."

Ulrich continued: "We're not working with Rick, we're working with the engineer from the last record, who's producing, Greg Fidelman. So there's some of the same production elements at play, but we're expanding a little bit on the sonics. It's probably a bit more of a diverse record than the last one. It's exciting, but I don't have quite the perspective yet."

Ulrich also addressed the eight-year gap between studio albums, the longest of the band's career, by saying: "I think what's happened is our families and our domestic responsibilities are so important to us now, so we just have a new model. We're sort of constantly doing something but never to the point of the needle going in the red, but METALLICA really hasn't sort of shut down since around 2005, and it's a model that works for us."

He added: "We never work at 110 percent to the point where we drive ourselves nuts, but are sort of constantly working at two-thirds, you know — when we make the record we're writing and we're recording, but we're doing it incrementally. There's always stuff going on. It's the way we like it. It keeps us engaged."

Ulrich told The Pulse Of Radio not long ago that METALLICA no longer wants to devote large chunks of time to any one project. "You know, METALLICA, in order for it to be true and pure and honest, has to be fun," he said. "And so the days of, you know, writing for a year and then recording for a year and then going on the road for three years — those kind of endlessly long cycles — they're just behind us. I don't think we have the stamina to do anything for those elongated periods of time any longer."

METALLICA worked on the new disc on and off over the past few years, in between other projects that included a series of short tours, a film, the restoration of some of their early albums and other projects.

MACHINE HEAD

MACHINE HEAD's 'Is There Anybody Out There?' Cracks Top 40 Of U.S. Active Rock Chart

MACHINE HEAD's latest track, "Is There Anybody Out There?", cracked the Top 40 on the Active Rock chart in the United States. It marks the first time any Nuclear Blast artist has entered what is widely considered to be the "official rock chart" for the United States, and only the the third time the band has charted in the Top 40 in their illustrious career.

Comments MACHINE HEAD vocalist/guitarist Robb Flynn: "Fuckin' A! Pretty darn cool when you consider that this song was digital-only, one-off, without the benefit of the promo/hype that usually surrounds an album release, plus no video, not to mention no physical release at all in stores.

"Will it stay in the Top 40? Who knows! Probably hang on another week or two, but even that is a feat in this day and age.

"Some major props need to be given right now. First off, thanks to Gary Jay and his team over at Landshark Promotion, those guys have been hammering away at folks to get this song on to the radio playlists, and it worked!! GREAT job guys!

"HUGE, ridiculous props go to Jose, Vinnie, and the entire Octane team over at SiriusXM for playing the living shit outta 'Is There Anybody Out There?' Those fine folks have played the new tune anywhere from 35 to 50 times a week (HOLY SMOKES!?), and were far and away the #1 supporter behind us.

"Both KILO in Colorado Springs and WJJO in Madison, Wisconsin rounded out our top three big supporters, and they REALLY got behind it. The important thing to remember about these guys is that these stations are what is known as 'terrestrial radio' meaning it is not satellite/subscription radio, but that classic sort of 'Wolfman Jack' idea of what you think of when it comes to an American DJ playing songs on the radio. It was HUGE that these stations got behind us! Thanks!

"Monte Conner and Nuclear Blast deserve big props for believing in the song, and giving MACHINE HEAD the freedom to just release a stand-alone, digital-only song 20 months after an album release, and treat it like it was a big fucking deal!

"Last but not least, BIG shout out to the Head Cases out there calling in requesting the song, voting in those mind-numbingly stupid 'Smash or Trash' things, and really just going out there and fighting for it, debating it, hating on it, believing in it.

"I love that our fans are so passionate, I'm grateful you guys give a shit, I love reading it's the best thing we've ever done, I don't mind reading it's the worst thing we've ever done. You care enough to talk about it, you stand with us."

Flynn adds: "The generic audio track on YouTube is over 450,000 views.

"And the Spotify numbers are impressive, 1.3 million streams for the new song, which is nearly 3 times more than every other song off of 'Bloodstone & Diamonds' not named 'Now We Die' or 'Game Over'.

"What does all of this radio ga-ga, and numbers/metrics shit mean?

"Fuck, I don't know!”

MACHINE HEAD recently wrapped up the tour cycle for its first Nuclear Blast Entertainment album, "Bloodstone & Diamonds", where the band toured for twenty months and performed a whopping 283 concerts on five different continents around the world. Around 250 of those shows were performed as "An Evening With MACHINE HEAD," with no support bands and performances often lasting two and a half to three hours. Three tours of the United States, three tours of Europe, (including multiple dates in Russia and Greece), shows in Mexico and South America, a completely sold-out run of nine Australian / New Zealand shows, sold-out dates in Japan, and their first-ever plays in Taiwan and Thailand, and all without any festival performances which the band publicly announced they would stop performing at in 2014.

"Bloodstone & Diamonds" debuted at #21 on the U.S. Billboard chart with 19,000 sold its first week. It has gone on to sell 55,000 copies in the U.S. and 200,000 worldwide.

ROCK WOLVES Feat. SCORPIONS, MAD MAX And H-BLOCKX Members: Debut Album Details Revealed

ROCK WOLVES Feat. SCORPIONS, MAD MAX And H-BLOCKX Members: Debut Album Details Revealed

ROCK WOLVES, the new all-star trio featuring Herman Rarebell, Michael Voss and Stephan "Gudze" Hinz, will release its self-titled debut album, on October 28 via Steamhammer/SPV in all territories except Japan. The band's first single, "Rock For The Nations", will be made available on September 9. Rarebell describes ROCK WOLVES' material as "classic rock music, powerful but not too heavy."

This diversity of ideas and the band’s almost boundless musical enthusiasm is reflected in every one of the eleven songs on their debut release. Straight rock numbers like the first single, "Rock For The Nations", the shuffle groove-driven "Surrounded By Fools", the fast-paced "Out Of Time", and "The Lion Is Loose" with its haunting live qualities, but also "I Need Your Love", which brings to mind the likes of AC/DC and BAD COMPANY, are thoroughbred rock tracks that go directly to the listener's gut and legs, as well as — like all ambitioned rock music should — touching on painful subjects.

"Instead of delivering tanks and arms all over the world, Germany should concentrate on exporting good rock music," Rarebell explains the message of "Rock For The Nations". The lyrics on "Surrounded By Fools" with their warning of unscrupulous politicians are no less critical. Rarebell says: "Let's not be dazzled by their colorful election campaigns. Those politicians can easily end up bringing war to their countries."

Naturally, no diverse rock album would be complete without two or three more quiet numbers with less controversial subjects. In "Nothing's Gonna Bring Me Down", ROCK WOLVES have succeeded in recording a strikingly contemporary ballad which could have been penned in the same or a similar manner by Lenny Kravitz. Talking of which: the original version of the deeply melodic "What About Love" was written by Jim Vallance, but celebrated its greatest success in 1985 with HEART, who topped the Billboard chart for an impressive 18 weeks with the song.

"Our new version has been given the blessing by Jim Vallance himself. His only comment was: 'Your version is even better than my original, so go for it,'" remembers Rarebell.

"Rock Wolves" track listing:

01. Rock For The Nations (3:46)02. Surround By Fools (4:03)03. Out Of Time (3:31)04. What About Love (3:28)05. The Blame Game (3:19)06. Riding Shotgun (3:26)07. Nothings Gonna Bring Me Down (3:05)08. The Lion Is Loose (3.33)09. I Need Your Love (3:33)10. Lay With Me (3:30)11. Inside Out (3:09) (iTunes exclusive bonus track)

As the former SCORPIONS drummer, Rarebell was instrumental in recording classics such as "Lovedrive", "Blackout" and "Crazy World" between 1977 and 1996, and looks back at a successful stint as the manager of his own recording company Monaco Records. At the moment, he is a member of guitar legend Michael Schenker's group TEMPLE OF ROCK, where Rarebell met Voss. Since the 1980s, Voss has caused a stir with acts such as MAD MAX and CASANOVA, has worked with Michael Schenker and is also involved in TEMPLE OF ROCK as a vocalist, songwriter and producer. The third ROCK WOLVES member is Hinz, founder member and bassist of H-BLOCKX and hence a representative of the 1990s rock generation. So here we have three illustrious names, three decades, and three artistic careers with similar but by no means congruent influences. The material of the upcoming ROCK WOLVES album was produced by Voss at Münster's Kidroom Studio and at the Principal Studios in Senden. A video for "Rock For The Nations" was shot near Hanover in mid-June and will also be released on September 9.
