GENERATION OF VIPERS To Release Coffin Wisdom Album In October; Details Revealed

GENERATION OF VIPERS To Release Coffin Wisdom Album In October; Details Revealed

Hailing from the Appalachian mountains of East Tennessee, Generation Of Vipers are a band that has always operated outside the normal trappings of "extreme" or "heavy" music. Following the release of 2011's Howl And Filth, which gained the band a sizable cult following, they are now preparing to further this sentiment with their fourth opus of their own blend of abstract punk/metal, titled Coffin Wisdom.

Engineered by Travis Kammeyer (A Storm of Light, U.S. Christmas, Ocoai, etc.) and mixed by Andrew Schneider (Unsane, Cave In, Made Out of Babies, Blue Man Group, etc.) at Translator Audio in Brooklyn, NY, Coffin Wisdom displays the bands most focused and realized album to date. Consisting of seven tracks of noisy and visceral music that at times borders on the Amphetamine Reptile days of yore, yet simultaneously harnesses a maturity and spiritual awareness to it that is difficult to quantify with mere words. Imagine if Amebix and Quicksand wrote songs about numerology and Witchcraft or if Godflesh and Helmet wrote songs touching on sleep paralysis and psychotic paranoia and you would have at least one foot on the right path. This is smart, honest, violent and powerful music that will hit you with the force of a twenty-car pile up.

Coffin Wisdom is an honest and unique collection of songs that further the bands own legacy of creating boundary-pushing music that comes from a truly genuine and vulnerable place. Fans of bands such as Unsane, Thou, Yob and other forward thinking artists of that ilk will be pleasantly surprised. Josh Holt and Billy Graves are also both active members of Neurot recording artists U.S. Christmas, A Storm of Light and Mustard Gas and Roses.

Coffin Wisdom tracklisting:

"Damaged Awake"
"Coffin Wisdom"
"Dark Matter"
"You Deserve This"
"Haunted"
"Stolen Voices"
"Crawling On The Ceiling"

Coffin Wisdom is now available for pre-order here.

PISS VORTEX To Release Debut In November; Tracks Streaming

PISS VORTEX To Release Debut In November; Tracks Streaming

Indisciplinarian has announced the upcoming self-titled debut album from Denmark-based grinders, Piss Vortex, on November 3rd. The label views this quartet as one of the most exciting bands of today, not only in Denmark, but internationally as well, as their first album is truly mind blowing in all its majestic filth.

Formed 2011 in Copenhagen, Piss Vortex is the incarnation of raw inspiration, imagination and energy. As unrelenting and intense as it is uniquely different from the rest of their native scene, the sound of the band can be described as an abrasive amalgamation of the blastbeat-driven fury of old-school grindcore, the filthy twang of noise rock and the mind-bending intricacy of early-00's chaotic hardcore.

The band's self-titled debut album is the result of three years of experimentation, writing and shaping what has now taken the form of fourteen crushing tracks in the album's twenty-three-minute run time. Produced by Jakob Reichert Nielsen (Lack, Rising, Anti Ritual) and mastered by Brad Boatright (no introduction needed), the album is a hectic tour de force in relentless creativity, blinding aggression and off-the-wall musicianship. This band doesn't give a single fuck about genre conventions, but solely strives to write, record and perform absolutely crushing progressive music while fucking with all minds within earshot - including their own - in the process.

Indisciplinarian will release Piss Vortex on November 3rd as a 12" LP in two editions, with 350 copies black and 150 piss yellow, as well as digitally worldwide on all relevant online platforms.

Piss Vortex tracklisting:

"Detrimentalist"
"Voice Of Te Worthless"
"Devouring Intent"
"Inoperable"

"Hollow Success"

SURVIVOR Cancels September And October Tour Dates To Mourn Death Of Singer JIMI JAMISON

SURVIVOR Cancels September And October Tour Dates To Mourn Death Of Singer JIMI JAMISON

In the wake of lead singer Jimi Jamison's sudden death on August 31, SURVIVOR has canceled the September and October dates of its fall 2014 tour.

"We are devastated by this loss, we trust that our fans will understand our wanting to take some time to mourn and remember our brother," said Dave Bickler, who, along with Frankie Sullivan, is an original member of the celebrated band formed in 1978. Tour organizers are working with host venues to reschedule the canceled dates.

"I called him 'Golden Throat,' and for good reason," said Sullivan. "Jim Jamison had a voice we will never forget. It was massive and huge and yet sweet and gentle. He was a loving soul and a brother to me in many ways. I will miss him greatly." Jamison joined SURVIVOR in 1984. Some of the hit songs recorded by the band during that period include chart busters like "I Can't Hold Back", "High On You" and "The Search Is Over" from the "Vital Signs" album and "Burning Heart" from "Rocky IV". In 2004 he was featured in the Emmy-nominated Starbucks commercial that parodied SURVIVOR's iconic hit "Eye Of The Tiger".

2012 would delight SURVIVOR fans around the nation when the band began touring with both Jamison and Bickler.

"It was an honor to share the stage with such a great talent and Jimi was one of the best vocalist in the business," said Billy Ozzello. "Even though he's gone, he will continue to be with us in spirit."

SURVIVOR's fall tour will begin again on November 13 in Hanover, Maryland.

BABYMETAL: Japanese TV Report On Recent North American Shows

BABYMETAL: Japanese TV Report On Recent North American Shows

A three-and-a-half-minute Japanese TV report on BABYMETAL's recent North American shows can be seen below.

BABYMETAL will play a special one-off show in New York City on November 4 at the Hammerstein Ballroom (located at 311 West 34th Street). Established in 2010, BABYMETAL is the offshoot of the Japanese pop idol group SAKURA GAKUIN that performs a distinctly Japanese mix of schoolgirl J-pop and heavy metal.

The band played its first-ever U.S. show on July 27 at the sold-out Fonda Theatre (capacity: 1,200) in Los Angeles, California and supported pop superstar Lady Gaga on five American concerts.

BABYMETAL's members — Suzuka Nakamoto (a.k.a. Su-Metal, who handles vocals and dancing), Yui Mizuno (a.k.a. Yuimetal) and Moa Kikuchi (a.k.a. Moametal), the latter of whom both scream and dance — admit that they had never listened to metal before joining the group. The girls wear gothy schoolgirl costumes, do choreographed dance routines and bang their heads violently.

"I didn't even know what metal was all about before this," says Nakamoto, who, at 16, is the oldest member of the group.

"When they told me I'd be doing BABYMETAL, I listened to this music and its heavy drums. I thought it was interesting and I imagined the choreography I would do."

BABYMETAL is based on the theme of "Kawaii Metal". After releasing their music video for "Doki Doki Morning" in 2011 to worldwide acclaim (and shock!), BABYMETAL performed at the Tokyo Idol festival later the same year. In March 2012, they released a collaboration single "II Ne!" with Kiba of AKIBA, followed by "Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!!" in July, 2012. BABYMETAL made their first overseas performance at Anime Festival Asia Singapore in November 2012.

In January 2013, BABYMETAL released their major-label debut single, "Ijime, Dame, Zettai" ("No more bullying") via Toy's Factory, and achieved the #6 spot on Oricon's singles chart. Later in 2013, they released their follow-up single "Megitsune" and began their "Death Match Tour 2013", accompanied by a live metal band and performing at several music festivals, including Metrock, Rock In Japan, and Anime Festival Indonesia. In October 2013, BABYMETAL was a featured performer at Japan's metal festival Loud Park, and they released the three-concert Blu-ray "Live -Legend I, D, Z Apocalypse" in November 2013. BABYMETAL performed their first solo live show in Singapore in December, 2013.

BABYMETAL's self-titled debut album was released in February 2014, achieving the #1 spot on the iTunes Heavy Metal chart in USA, UK, and Canada, and reaching #35 on the iTunes USA total sales chart. BABYMETAL continued to gain worldwide success, becoming the youngest Japanese artist to break into The Billboard 200 chart and reaching #4 on Billboard's Heatseekers chart.

In March 2014, BABYMETAL performed two days of solo concerts at Japan's Nippon Budokan for over 20,000 fans. Their live performance video for "Gimme Choco!" has been viewed over 14 million times, garnering the group major media attention from USA Today, Time magazine, NBC News, Huffington Post, Revolver, Kerrang!, The Guardian and Metal Hammer.

In May, 2014, BABYMETAL announced their first world tour, including appearances in France, Germany, Canada (Heavy Montreal festival with METALLICA and SLAYER), and Great Britain (Sonisphere festival main stage, with METALLICA and IRON MAIDEN). In August, 2014, BABYMETAL performed at Japan's famed Summer Sonic festival with AVENGED SEVENFOLD, MEGADETH and SUICIDAL TENDENCIES.

SOURVEIN Sign To Metal Blade Records; Aquatic Occult Album Due In 2015

SOURVEIN Sign To Metal Blade Records; Aquatic Occult Album Due In 2015

Sludge/doom veterans, Sourvein, have signed with Metal Blade Records. The new partnership's first effort will be the release of the band's fourth full-length album, Aquatic Occult, in 2015. The album is scheduled to be recorded with Corrosion Of Conformity's Mike Dean in early 2015 and will finally see its release later that year.

Sourvein main man Troy "T-Roy" Medlin was interviewed by friend and fellow musician, Randy Blythe of Lamb Of God fame, who penned the band's new biography. The text will serve as an excellent introduction for the uninitiated. It's a recap of the past twenty years of the band, and a look towards a bright future for Sourvein.

Below is an excerpt from the biography, which includes comments on the signing and the upcoming album:

Over twenty long dues-paying years later, Sourvein has at long last found a proper home for their doom-laden Southern noise with underground stalwarts Metal Blade Records, and Medlin couldn't be happier. Aquatic Occult, the band's first offering on the label, promises to be heavier than a two-ton anchor dropped into an antique porcelain bathtub - it's going to break things. But getting here hasn't been easy.

"Finally, man. Finally," he says, shaking his head in disbelief as he reflects on the lengthy, grueling trek that brought his band to Metal Blade's roster.

"It's the record I wanted to make when I was in those rooming houses, but I couldn't," Medlin says, "There was too much pain, so I got lost for bit, falling back into the party life and trying to numb myself with alcohol. But motherfuckers need to feel the pain. There is more to life than numbing yourself." Is that what Aquatic Occult will be about, bringing the pain? "I'm going to bring the truth. The lyrics are reality to me; I don't write about cars or chicks or fucking horror movies, I write about getting my nose fucking broken, all the stuff I saw growing up and now. But I want it to be positive, to let people know that there is a way out of bad times and tough situations. I'm living proof," he says. When Sourvein hits the road in 2015 to support "Aquatic Occult", is that what he'll be talking from the stage, positivity?"

Man, it's not all peace and love; it's just not coming from hate anymore. And when I'm on stage, I'm not up there to talk to you anyways. I'll let the amplifiers do the talking. I want you to feel it. You've got to feel alive, and life sometimes includes pain. Masking it doesn't do any good, because it's still there. It's better to live and feel it. All of it, the good, the bad, and the ugly."

SAILLE - Eldritch Album Teaser Streaming

SAILLE - Eldritch Album Teaser Streaming

Epic Belgian black metal outfit Saille is gearing up to release a new album on November 10th via Code666. View a new teaser below. Eldritch is a concept record exploring several well-known Masterpieces of the classic and modern Horror literature. This third full-length album was recorded at Arcave, Tower, Shumcot Studio & Record Office in Belgium and was mixed by Klas Blomgren, Gislaved, Sweden. The artwork was handled by Colin Marks for Rain Song Design. A video teaser trailer for the album will be unveiled on September 14th.

“Eldritch differs quite a bit from our two previous albums,” keyboardist Dries Gaerdelen begins. “We wanted the new songs to be more guitar oriented and more edgy, so we worked on the songs in a different way than we used to. Guitar players Reinier Schenk and Jonathan Vanderwal started writing the songs from a guitar perspective adding the keyboards and drums later on. On our two previous albums Ritu and Irreversible Decay the songs were created the other way around. Our new drummer Kevin De Leener had a big impact on the creation of this album, as his input from a drummers perspective was higher than we're used to. These factors, songs being based on drums and guitars, form a solid base for haunting melodic black metal songs. We started writing the new songs immediately after the release of our second album ‘Ritu’ (2013). This gave us more time for the pre-production process, which made everyone more prepared and focussed. After the recording of the drums, bass and guitars, we chose again to record some real classical instruments. We have recorded violin, cello and trumpet as we have done on our previous albums; new to Eldritch are the introductions of the oboe and a great stage piano. Recording these instruments isn't the easy way, but it sure adds to the atmosphere we wanted to create.”

All of the lyrics on Eldritch were written by Saille's vocalist Dennie Grondelaers and are based on horror literature, both classics, turn-of-the-20th-century and modern stories and books. The lyrics explore the pure nature of horror as conceived in different times and media. They complete the songs by adding in horror, the untouchable and the uncomfortable in an organic and unforced way. Although we didn't intend to make a Lovecraft based album, H.P. Lovecraft's influence is noticeable throughout the whole record, and can't be ignored. Even stronger, the source of every song, except for ‘Walpurgis’ (based on Goethe's Faust), can be considered as proto-, post- or pure Lovecraftian. As the album will also be released in a limited digipak edition, we decided to go the extra mile and we contacted all currently living writers (or their heirs) of the books we based our lyrics upon. In the ‘Eldritch’ digibook we have received permission from all writers, even Stephen King, to use quotes from the real books. These quotes will be displayed next to our lyrics for our fans to compare/embrace.”

Colin Marks of Rain Song Design was commissioned for the cover art and comments. "When Saille first approached me regarding the artwork for Eldtritch they had a few general conceptual guidelines in terms of mood, tone and lyrical themes. But beyond that I was pretty much given free reign on the content of the artwork. I had a few things in mind, and toyed around with some quick basic sketches, but ultimately settled on an idea, which would eventually result in the current cover image.”

“The band requested something quite dark, with hints of horror, so I wanted to give the image a fairly vast and ominous atmosphere. An initial suggestion referred to certain lyrical themes of an ancient library of sorts and/or occult characters, so I took this as a good starting point and constructed this huge dark old structure built into a large cave-like rock formation. It was important to keep the tone dark and mysterious, with a tiny barely noticeable figure within the entrance, which people can read into however they wish. The additional artwork in the layout ties in with the cover concept and further explores the surroundings. I wanted it to represent not only the music, but also the bands various influences, and hopefully we've achieved that quite accurately."

Curved Air vocalist, Sonja Kristina, has been honoured at the prestigious PROG Magazine Awards night held at the Globe Theatre in London.

Sonja Kristina said, “It is a great honour to receive The Guiding Light Award. HELLCATS Release Video For "Now Is My Time"

HELLCATS Release Video For "Now Is My Time"

Slovenian all-female heavy metal band, Hellcats has released a new video for the song "Now is My Time", from their Warrior Princess album.

The video was filmed at various locations in the band's hometown of Ljubljana, Slovenia. The song was written by sisters Sasha and Sonja Zagorc and recorded in collaboration with producer Davor Kontić at Conti Studio. MTV Slovenia recently premiered and added the video to rotation.

Hellcats is the first all-female heavy metal band Slovenia. The band was formed in 2006 in Ljubljana by sisters Sasha Zagorc (bass guitar) and Sonja Zagorc (drums), who started to perform together in their childhood while they were still at music school. Sasha was studying classical guitar and Sonja flute. Later on Sonja switched to drums and they formed a band. Due to the small size of the Slovenian music scene it was not easy to find female musicians. After a few band member changes, Hellcats line-up was completed by Katja Mavec (guitar) and Ajda Kovačič (vocals).

In early 2010 Hellcats released their first single, “Heavy Metal", which appeared on their Hellcats EP the following year. Their second single, "Master Of The Night", was produced by Davor Kontić and Grant Austin known as producer of the band Laibach. Both songs appear on their new CD, Warrior Princess, which was self-released by the band at the end of 2013 and distributed via CD Baby and iTunes.

Two versions of the album were released - English and Slovenian. All of the songs are written by Sasha and Sonja. The album was recorded in Conti Studio by producer Davor Kontić. Dasa Makuc later replaced Kovačič on vocals after the release of the album.

The quartet loves to perform on big stages and has had many gigs in clubs and participated at many festivals (Metal Camp, Viva la Pola, Jelen Demofest) to crowds of up to 12,000 people. The band has toured Russia as well. A tour of Germany is booked for next spring.

Hellcats is:

Sasha Zagorc – bass
Sonja Zagorc – drums
Katja Mavec – guitar
Dasa Makuc - vocals

CRAZY LIXX Return With Self-Titled Fourth Album In November; Audio Samples Streaming

CRAZY LIXX Return With Self-Titled Fourth Album In November; Audio Samples Streaming

Frontiers Music Srl has announced the release of the fourth studio album from Crazy Lixx. The self-titled album will be released on November 7th in Europe and November 11th in North America.

Just like every rock band does at some point in their career, Crazy Lixx thought it was the right time to release their self-titled album: the kind of album that really does the band’s name justice and that shows everyone what the band and their music is really all about. This is that album for Sweden’s Crazy Lixx.

Says lead singer and producer Danny Rexon, “We were discussing possible titles for the album and we didn’t really feel like any of the suggestions were quite right. Then I came up with the idea of a making it a self-titled album and we all agreed this was the right time for one. You know, bearing the very name of the band, a self-titled album does have a lot to live up to, but we all felt that this album has what it takes to represent the band as a whole, both in terms of the songs, the sound and the performance.”
With their new album, Crazy Lixx show their growth as a band by sinking their teeth into 11 anthemic rock songs that will satisfy both the hardcore Lixx fans, as well as all fans of melodic hard rock and hair metal in general. By combining the strategies of recording and producing the album themselves along with utilizing the mixing skills of the great Chris Laney, the band has once again returned to the bombastic sound of Crazy Lixx’s earlier work while at the same time adding the improved song-writing and musicianship of today’s Crazy Lixx.

“We learnt a lot through the years, especially when it comes to the recording process and we put all that knowledge and experience to use on this album. We used many different studio settings to record different parts of the album and did not rush the recording, but made sure everything was as good as it could get. At the same time we did not want to be too nitpicking with details, I mean we’re still in the business of rock n’ roll, right?”, adds guitarist and co-producer of the album Andy Zata.

In addition to returning to the old Crazy Lixx sound, the band has also re-recorded fan favorite “Heroes are Forever” which was originally on the band’s first, now out of print album. “It’s this one song, that was our first single back in around 2006, that we’ve played on almost every live show we’ve done since then, but when we started to think about it, it was a song that a lot of our fans had no chance to ever listen to. The first album, Loud Minority, was released on a minor independent label, in a limited printing which has long since sold out, and it isn’t available digitally either. Still we felt that the track was one of those songs that had a really fundamental Crazy Lixx vibe to it, so we decided to record it again and give the fans a nice treat. If you ask me, it came out way better this second time around,” says drummer Joél Cirera.

Newest and youngest member, bassist Jens Sjöholm adds: “Being my first album release with Crazy Lixx I don’t really have any special expectations, but hearing the final result and seeing how fired up the guys are about it makes me look forward to seeing the reactions of the fans and media.”

With the addition of Jens Sjöholm and the return of original drummer Joél Cirera, Crazy Lixx Mk III proved to be the best lineup to date, both in concert and on record. “I think the fans will really enjoy what we’ve got in store for them with this album. Killer songs, great sound and memorable hooks combined with a bit of the twin guitar action and riff-based approach that we added to the sound on our last album,” says guitarist Edd Liam.

“It’s really a bit of a do or die, no guts, no glory situation – after all, you only get one chance to do a self titled album, so make sure you do it good,” concludes Danny Rexon.

Crazy Lixx tracklisting:

"Hell Raising Women"
"Sound Of The Loud Minority"

"Girls Of The 80’s"
"I Missed The Mark"
"All Looks, No Hooks"
"Ain’t No Rest In Rock N’ Roll"

METATRONE Signs With Rockshots Music Management

METATRONE Signs With Rockshots Music Management

Rockshots Music Management has announced the signing of Italy-based Christian metal band, Metatrone.

Metatrone (which means “God is since now and forever”) is one of the most talented and skilled bands in the Christian metal scene. They play powerful prog metal and their music is deeply inspired by a Christian Catholic view of life and human being.

They have released over the years two full-length albums, The Powerful Hands (2007, Scarlet), and Paradigma (2010, TRP), both albums received rave reviews from the critics and fans.

Metatrone is a Christian power-prog metal band formed by musicians coming from many previous musical experiences, mostly involved in metal music. Davide Bruno, Jo Lombardo, Tony Zappa, Virgilio Ragazzi and Stefano “Ghigas” Calvagno formed the band in 1997 under the monicker of Metafora producing with Track Records Productions (TRP) a four track Ep called Reazioni e Memorie, featuring some amazing anthems like “Una Parte di Me”.

As many things in life changes, it was four years later (2001) that one of the founding members, keyboardist Davide Bruno decided to begin a new spiritual journey bringing him to change completely his life becoming a Priest. After this important decision, another one will be essential: Metafora decided to change their monicker as Metatrone from that moment on. The new band’s name means “God is since now and forever”, consequently the band begins to write power-prog metal songs deeply inspired by a Christian Catholic view of life and human being. It was in 2005 when they produced with the help of TRP music their first album called “La Mano Potente” soon followed by the english version called “The Powerful Hand” distributed by Scarlet Records in Europe and King Records in Asia.

After its release, the band begins to play often live in Italy and around the world as well, playing at festivals like Elements of Rock twice, Tumbalong Park and World Youth Day in Australia just to name a few.

As many time happens, they toured a lot but immediately after they began to write new songs which bring them to a new and highest musical and lyrical level, songs were more influenced by prog but powerful at the same time. Most of that songs will be released on their third studio album, Paradigma. The new stunning 13 tracks album was produced by the band and TRP Music, officially released on 25 december 2010: the album features songs sang in english, italian, latin and spanish with some interesting growling vocal choruses performed by priest Davide himself getting very good reviews on the most popular metal magazines like Metal Hammer Italy, Metal Maniac and many other on-line magazines.

On May 2012 the band released their first videoclip, “In Spe Resurrectionis” from Paradigma (winning also the David Award as best italian song at V Premios David) while in June 2013 the band released a single track called “Heavenly Field” written against the Zionist policy supporting Gaza population at the time featuring italian hip hop band One Crew as special guest on vocals.

The band now is working at the new album release with a different lineup: Tony Zappa and Virgilio Ragazzi have been now replaced by Dino Fiorenza on bass (Billy Sheehan, Steve Vai, Paul Gilbert, John Macaluso) and Salvo “T-Metal” Grasso on drums (Hypersonic, DenieD).

Lineup:

Jo Lombardo (Vocals)
Stefano “Ghigas” Calvagno (Guitars)
Davide Bruno (Keybords)
Dino Fiorenza (Bass)
Salvo “T-Metal” Grasso (Drums)

MESHUGGAH:

MESHUGGAH: 'Do Not Look Down' Performance Clip From 'The Ophidian Trek' DVD

Commemorating the 25th anniversary of the recording of their first EP, Swedish experimental extreme metallers MESHUGGAH will release a concert DVD / 2CD set and Blu-ray, "The Ophidian Trek", on September 30 via Nuclear Blast. With visual footage shot in the U.S. and Europe during "The Ophidian Trek" tour and festival footage from Wacken Open Air 2013 in Germany, the live audio was processed and edited by MESHUGGAH guitarist Fredrik Thordendal, mixed by Daniel Begstrand (DIMMU BORGIR, BEHEMOTH) and mastered by Mats "Limpan" Lindfors (ROXETTE, OPETH, MANDO DIAO).

The "Do Not Look Down" performance clip from "The Ophidian Trek" DVD can be seen below.

Comments MESHUGGAH drummer Tomas Haake: "We're really stoked about this new MESHUGGAH live DVD!

"It's been four years since the release of 'Alive', and with the band celebrating 25 years, we felt that we just had to get another one of these puppies out there!

"Audio/video was recorded during our European stretch of 'The Ophidian Trek' tour, as well as at the Wacken Open Air festival — and we're super proud of how it came out!

"For this one, we used the extremely talented photographer Anthony Dubois for filming and editing, etc., and he's really done a stunning job with it!

"Hope you guys dig it, and here's to another 25!! (or maybe just a little less;-) )”

"The Ophidian Trek" is MESHUGGAH's second live DVD, the first being 2010's "Alive", which debuted at position No. 8 on the Billboard Music DVD chart.

MESHUGGAH in June returned to North America for a tour celebrating the band's 25th anniversary. Opening for them was North Carolina's BETWEEN THE BURIED AND ME.

MESHUGGAH played a very special 25th-anniversary set by performing selections from its entire discography and some rare songs that haven't been played live in many years. In an interview with Australia's Loud magazine, Mårten Hagström was asked what the next step forward for MESHUGGAH is, creatively. "I have no idea, and I never do," he said. "And I think that's a good thing, 'cause people sometimes say that we're pretty unpredictable, but I don't really think we are, because we have a sound that's been with us since at least like the 'None' EP (from 1994), that's very us. [laughs] It doesn't really change all that much, but it's still a progression, and what I mean by taking a step forward is that we're still, we've been around now. We're veterans in this game [laughs], and we're still having fun with what we do, with experimenting with the music that we want to create. So as long as it feels like we're making it better, and as long as it feels like we're doing something that we can at least stand for and be proud of, that's all that we ask."

AVENGED SEVENFOLD

AVENGED SEVENFOLD's 'Hail To The King: Deathbat' Mobile Video Game Gets A Release Date

AVENGED SEVENFOLD is almost finished putting together its Hail To The King: Deathbat mobile video game will be released on October 16. It will be available via the App Store and on Google Play.

A new trailer for the game is available below.

AVENGED SEVENFOLD singer M. Shadows revealed to Revolver magazine that Hail To The King: Deathbat will include an avatar of late drummer, Jimmy "The Rev" Sullivan. Shadows explained, "With the blessing of his parents, we put The Rev in the game. Once you unlock his character, you can use him as your comrade to help you through the levels."

Guitarist Synyster Gates told The Pulse Of Radio that the extended time needed to develop the long-awaited game will be worth it. "I mean, we've been spending the last two, two-and-a-half years developing this thing, and it's turning out outrageously, unbelievably perfect in every single way," he said. "But it's taken a long time. So we're really coming close with finishing, you know, everything on our end, and then it goes into testing and stuff like that. But yeah, it's definitely really impressive."

M. Shadows said that each band member has his own custom weapon or power, including a double-edged sword for drummer Arin Ilejay, a demon with magic powers for Synyster Gates, a "Hell Sword" which rains blood on people for bassist Johnny Christ and "Shadow Sight" for Shadows himself.

AVENGED SEVENFOLD and KORN co-headlined this year's Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival.

AVENGED SEVENFOLD was touring in support of its 2013 album, "Hail To The King", which debuted at No. 1 last year on the Billboard album chart.

BRET MICHAELS:

BRET MICHAELS: 'It Looks Like' POISON Will Tour In 2015

POISON singer Bret Michaels has confirmed to the Cleveland Scene that the band is in talks to hit the road in 2015. "It looks like it will happen," he said. "It's been a few years. We just want to put together the right package and show to celebrate with everyone."

Asked about the status of a new POISON studio album, Michaels said: "When the time's right, I'm sure it will happen," he said. "We are all just in different places right now — but we are never done making music."

POISON drummer Rikki Rockett recently told the "Iron City Rocks" podcast that the band has been doing "corporate gigs for different companies, which are fun, and they pay very well. It gives us a chance to all get together and play. And, in fact, we have one in October and we have one in January [2015]. But they are the only shows that POISON is doing this year; we are not doing a tour this year. There is a few things that are being thrown around right now by our management for next spring, and we'll just have to see."

Rockett took to Twitter in February 2014 to complain that POISON couldn't hit the road this summer because a certain member of the glam-metal act was "making it a problem."

POISON last toured the U.S. in 2012 as part of the "Rock Of Ages" package with DEF LEPPARD and LITA FORD.

The last POISON album was 2007's covers set "Poison'd!", while the band's last collection of new, original music was 2002's "Hollyweird".

To celebrate POISON's 25th anniversary, 35 of the multi-platinum band's top hits and fan favorites were gathered for "Double Dose Of Poison: Ultimate Hits", a career-spanning 2CD and digital collection which was released in May 2011 by Capitol/EMI.

DREAM THEATER:

DREAM THEATER: 'Strange Déjà Vu' Performance Clip From 'Breaking The Fourth Wall' DVD

Progressive metal giants will release "Breaking The Fourth Wall (Live From The Boston Opera House)", a live Blu-ray/DVD set of the band's one-of-a-kind performance from the Boston Opera House on March 25, 2014. Produced by the band's own John Petrucci, filmed and directed by Pierre and François Lamoureux, and mixed and mastered by Richard Chycki, "Breaking The Fourth Wall (Live From The Boston Opera House)" is over two hours in length, capturing the special evening, which featured guest performances from The Berklee College Of Music Orchestra And Choir.

Due on September 30 via Roadrunner, "Breaking The Fourth Wall (Live From The Boston Opera House)" will be available in multiple configurations including Blu-ray, a two-DVD set, and a webstore deluxe exclusive Blu-ray/three-CD set with poster, all currently available for pre-order via the Roadrunner Records webstore. Furthermore, DREAM THEATER has premiered a video of "The Looking Glass" (live) taken from "Breaking The Fourth Wall (Live From The Boston Opera House)", which can be seen below. All pre-orders for the webstore exclusive will receive an instant download of "The Looking Glass" (live).

The "Strange Déjà Vu" performance clip from "Breaking The Fourth Wall (Live From The Boston Opera House)" can be seen below. DREAM THEATER's John Petrucci commented on the special event saying: "In many ways, this was a huge homecoming for the band given the history of DREAM THEATER's origins and ties with Berklee.

"With John [Myung, bass] and I both being alumni and Mike [Mangini, drums] having been a professor at the college for 10 years, we saw the opportunity to perform together with the students of Berklee as a tremendous thrill and honor.

"We are extremely grateful for everyone's hard work in making this special event a reality and to all who participated."

He continued: "All of the Berklee College instrumentalists and vocalists did an outstanding job that night and it was awesome to have one of its students, Eren Başbuğ orchestrate and conduct them live at the Opera House after having been a part of our latest studio release in the same capacity.

"DREAM THEATER has always had a great connection to the city of Boston and we knew that against the backdrop of the beautiful Opera House, this would end up being a historic stop on our 'Along For The Ride' world tour and an evening most definitely worth capturing on video.

"Beautifully filmed and directed by Pierre Lamoureux and brilliantly mixed and mastered by Richard Chycki, this is, in my opinion, a major highlight in our nearly 30-year career as a band. We are eagerly anticipating its release this fall and really hope that everyone enjoys it!"

DREAM THEATER keyboardist, Jordan Rudess spoke to GetYourRockOut at this year's Sonisphere festival in the U.K. about whether the band has already begun thinking about the follow-up to last year's self-titled release. He said: "We haven't really gotten into serious band discussions about what's gonna happen next, although we've had little discussions between some of us about what we would like to see happen next. At the same, if I get a good idea in the middle of the night, or whatever, I'll record it onto my iPhone. I elected James [LaBrie, vocals] to kind of be the keeper of some of my ideas; I'll send him little YouTube clips of me playing something I think is cool. And then when it wraps around and we get into writing again and start our process, then we'll go back an see what we've got and kind of figure it out."

Rudess also reassured fans that there are no plans for DREAM THEATER to stop making new music and become a nostalgia act. He said: "Oh, no no no. We love what we do. We're passionate about making music and as composers; that's just who we are. DREAM THEATER has never been a band that hit at a particular fashionable point and said, 'OK, that's basically it.' We're a band that really… It's important to us to write music and put it out there and to work together. And we love it. And that's why we keep going."

DREAM THEATER's latest, self-titled album sold around 34,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 7 on The Billboard 200 chart. The CD arrived in stores on September 24, 2013 via Roadrunner.

QUEEN:

QUEEN: 'Killer QUEEN' Performance Clip From 'Live At The Rainbow '74'

Sunday March 31, 1974 is a landmark date in the history of rock music. It is now celebrated in the multi-format release of a rare recording made at legendary London venue The Rainbow, of a concert by a then-up-and-coming band called QUEEN. Few who turned up for that iconic performance could have predicted they would go on to become arguably the world's best and most successful rock group, although many more may have suspected it after this stunning show. Among the unique material contained in this release are over a dozen tracks never previously released on any official QUEEN live album. The release will come in CD, vinyl and standard DVD or SD Blu-ray formats available as standard releases or special limited edition sets as well as digital formats. That concert, being heard live for the first time in "Queen: Live At The Rainbow '74", marked the culmination of the band's countrywide tour, their first as headliners — hot on the heels of a tour supporting MOTT THE HOOPLE, late in 1973, on which they were widely regarded as having blown the hit band off the stage. QUEEN got rave reviews, almost unheard of for a support band, and it was obvious that in future they would be top of the bill. The band's momentum had been building since the release of their eponymous album in July 1973 and, following their success on the MOTT tour, at the beginning of 1974 they were tipped as "Band Of The Year" in UK music paper Disc And Music Echo. Just before the March Rainbow gig, QUEEN performed their new single "Seven Seas Of Rhye" on must-see U.K. TV music show "Top Of The Pops". The highly coveted slot was a lucky break — they filled in for an absent DAVID BOWIE, who was unavailable — and the band made the most of it, delivering a thrilling performance that pushed the song into the Top 10. Although the group now had a first hit single under its belt, and second album "Queen II" had just been released to critical acclaim, many felt that playing The Rainbow was overambitious. It was the premier London venue of the time, on a par with L.A.'s Palladium and New York's Fillmore East. But the band had paid its dues, slugging it out in clubs and college halls for four years, and never doubting their own potential. The band's confidence was vindicated when the venue quickly sold out the capacity of more than 3,000 seats — with some fans paying as much as £1.20 for a ticket! QUEEN's performance was spectacular from the second that Freddie Mercury strutted onto the stage in his soon to become trademark white "eagle suit," a tight-fitting number specially made for him by top fashion designer Zandra Rhodes, which featured flowing winged sleeves. He pranced and posed, capturing the audience in seconds with his extraordinary voice and stage presence, while Brian May provided the counterpoint with his remarkable and ground-breaking guitar playing. The powerful "engine room" (as they liked to call it) of drummer Roger Taylor and bass player John Deacon completed a sound unlike anything British audiences had previously heard. Enraptured fans clapped and cheered, and gave the band a standing ovation. That electrifying show was recorded by Roy Thomas Baker, co-producer of QUEEN's first four studio albums, and slated to be the band's third album (and debut live album) — a career-defining release like JAMES BROWN's "Live At The Apollo" or THE WHO's "Live At Leeds". Intended to be a recording that captured the magic of a live band firing on all cylinders, "Queen: Live at the Rainbow '74" would undoubtedly have been a big success. But QUEEN's ferocious creative momentum produced a stack of new songs begging to be recorded and instead of releasing the live album the band went into the studio to record what was to become 1974's breakthrough album, "Sheer Heart Attack". As a result, the already completed Rainbow live album was shelved and consigned to the archives. Later in 1974 QUEEN had their first chart-topping single, "Killer Queen", which encapsulated their brand of driving rock and clever lyrics. It appeared on "Sheer Heart Attack", which was released in the autumn, was a massive hit and remains to this day many fans' favourite QUEEN album. To celebrate this success and crown a remarkable year, QUEEN returned to The Rainbow in November 1974 for two sell-out gigs that were even more spectacular than the one in March. These concerts included the typically flamboyant performance of "Now I'm Here" with which they had been wowing audiences on the tour. It featured Freddie apparently appearing in a spotlight on opposite sides of the stage almost simultaneously. The concerts received massive acclaim from fans and critics alike, and won over many who had until then doubted the band's potential. In this year, QUEEN also undertook their first concerts in Australia, USA, Sweden, Finland, Holland, Belgium and Spain. Now, a remarkable 40 years later, "Queen: Live At The Rainbow '74" has finally surfaced from the archives, providing an invaluable record of emerging superstars demonstrating their talent. QUEEN, Virgin Records and Eagle Rock Entertainment are proud to announce that "Queen: Live At The Rainbow '74" was released on September 8 (U.K. on Virgin Records) and September 9 (U.S. through Hollywood Records) in a variety of formats all newly mixed and mastered to the highest contemporary standard. These range from a standard two CD package, a DVD, an SD Blu-ray, a gate-fold double vinyl (including an audio reproduction of the aforementioned original live album), a quadruple vinyl boxed set, to a super deluxe collector's edition. This comprehensive and fascinating package includes two CDs, a DVD and Blu-ray, a 60-page hardback book containing many rare photographs, and various items of memorabilia such as reproductions of the tickets, show souvenir programme and poster, as well as material from the band members' personal archives. Vinyl and super deluxe formats are released as limited editions. These recordings capture QUEEN at that time in all their glory: the dramatic stage presence, the highly original self-penned repertoire of songs, high-energy performances coupled with stunning melodic and harmonic content, and the uncompromising perfectionist approach to every aspect of their performance which is still maintained to this day. QUEEN dazzled their audiences in 1974 with an unforgettable show delivered with a skill and confidence which belied their youth. The tape machines were rolling, capturing the highly electric performances. Now, to mark the 40th anniversary of these legendary shows, here, finally, is "Queen: Live At The Rainbow '74" — lovingly restored, edited, mixed and digitally mastered, and including much footage never previously seen. It is a collection every QUEEN fan will want to possess. "Queen: Live At The Rainbow '74" package details Package one

SEPULTURA:

SEPULTURA: 'Roots Bloody Roots' Performance Clip From 'Metal Veins - Alive At Rock In Rio' DVD, Blu-Ray

In celebration of their astounding thirty-year career, Brazilian/American metallers SEPULTURA will unleash a new live offering titled "Sepultura And Les Tambours du Bronx: Metal Veins - Alive At Rock In Rio" in North America on September 16 via Eagle Rock Entertainment. In a spectacular performance that finds SEPULTURA accompanied throughout by the French industrial percussion group LES TAMBOURS DU BRONX, notorious for beating 225-liter barrels with beech wood bats or even axe handles, the show was recorded from the band's main stage appearance at the legendary Rock In Rio festival in 2013. Featuring SEPULTURA's most revered tunes — including "Refuse/Resist", "Territory" and "Roots Bloody Roots", the latter of which sees the audience chanting the entire cut from beginning to end — the sheer volume of sound, percussive enormity and powerful presentation sets this release apart from any previous SEPULTURA concert offering to date. With a one-hour run time divided into thirteen cuts, the album also features a cover of THE PRODIGY's "Firestarter", the fan-chanted "Sepulnation" and music from the band's "Kairos" full-length.

"Metal Veins - Alive At Rock In Rio" will come available on CD, DVD and for the first time in the band's history, Blu-ray via a partnership with Rock In Rio, MZA Music and Eagle Rock Entertainment. SEPULTURA's new album, "The Mediator Between Head And Hands Must Be The Heart", sold around 1,800 copies in the United States in its first week of release. The CD came out on October 29, 2013 via Nuclear Blast Records.

Although it was inspired by Fritz Lang's classic 1927 movie "Metropolis", "The Mediator Between Head And Hands Must Be The Heart" is not a concept album or a soundtrack like its precedessors "Dante XXI" (based on "The Divine Comedy") and "A-Lex" (based on "A Clockwork Orange").

"The Mediator Between The Head And Hands Must Be The Heart" was tracked over a 40-day period at producer Ross Robinson's (KORN, LIMP BIZKIT, SLIPKNOT) studio in Venice, California and was mixed and mastered by co-producer Steve Evetts, who previously worked with SEPULTURA on the "Nation" (2001), "Revolusongs" (2002) and "Roorback" (2003) albums, in addition to having collaborated with Ross on a number of other projects in the past.

JACK RUSSELL

JACK RUSSELL'S GREAT WHITE: 70-Minute Video Of Agoura Hills Concert

Joe Dolan of JoeDolanPR.com has uploaded video footage of JACK RUSSELL'S GREAT WHITE performing on September 7 at the Canyon Club in Agoura Hills, California. Check it out below.

JACK RUSSELL'S GREAT WHITE features Jack Russell on vocals alongside former GREAT WHITE bassist-turned-guitarist Tony Montana (as a guitar player and keyboardist), bassist Chris Tristram, lead guitarist Robby Locher and drummer Dicki Fliszar.

Russell recently revealed to SleazeRoxx.com that he is working on material for a new studio album.

Regarding the musical direction of what will eventually be released as the JACK RUSSELL'S GREAT WHITE debut, Russell told SleazeRoxx.com: "We want the new material to blow people's ears back. It has the elements of the best GREAT WHITE music ever written, but there's an edge. Tony brings that validity, while Robby and Dicki add a new life. It's going to surprise people."

Added Montana, "It's got the classic sound. The first element is Jack's voice.

"No other band sounds like this one ever did or does now.

"When I was 17 years old, I remember walking around the UCLA campus listening to the band's first EP. I was a fan before I ever joined the band. We're going to maintain that same integrity going forward."

He continued: "The band was always a standout from the era it came from. It was never a hair band. Listen to the music, and that's evident. Everything was based in blues. We want to add to that legacy with new material preserving those timeless elements."

Russell concluded, "This is fun, first and foremost. I feel like I'm 27 again. I hope it sounds like GREAT WHITE — but for 2014."

In March, 2012, Russell sued his former bandmates Mark Kendall, Michael Lardie and Audie Desbrow over their continued use of the GREAT WHITE name after Russell had taken a leave of absence from the band for medical reasons. The band countersued, and the parties were involved in contentious litigation for more than a year. After three days of closed-door mediation before U.S. Magistrate Judge Carla Woehrle, the parties reached a comprehensive agreement. While many of the terms of the agreement remain confidential, it was revealed in August 2013 that the current GREAT WHITE band would continue to use the name GREAT WHITE and Russell would perform under the name JACK RUSSELL'S GREAT WHITE.

LAMB OF GOD Frontman RANDY BLYTHE Joins Resurrected SAMHAIN On Stage At Chicago RIOT FEST (Video)

LAMB OF GOD Frontman RANDY BLYTHE Joins Resurrected SAMHAIN On Stage At Chicago RIOT FEST (Video)

LAMB OF GOD frontman Randy Blythe joined the resurrected SAMHAIN on stage last night (Saturday, September 13) at the Riot Fest in Chicago, Illinois to perform the song "All Hell". Fan-filmed video footage of his appearance can be seen below.

SAMHAIN's concert at Riot Fest marked the band's first full set since 1986 and it coincided with the 30th anniversary of the release of SAMHAIN's first EP, "Initium", which Blythe said was "about as big an influence on me as any record about there — so pure and so dark." He stated prior to the show: "I am freaking pumped beyond belief to be witnessing this."

In addition to Glenn Danzig, SAMHAIN's lineup for the reunion shows includes Peter Adams of BARONESS alongside "Danzig Legacy" players London May and Steve Zing.

Stated Adams: "I'm truly excited, It's a great honor to share the stage with SAMHAIN on the 30th anniversary of 'Initium'! SAMHAIN has helped shape how I've played music, and the music I've listened to, since I was a teenager and will continue to, on into the future. To be a part of this legacy is great beyond words!"

Formed in 1983, SAMHAIN had a rotating lineup of musicians before disbanding in 1987 and eventually transforming into DANZIG.

May, who was SAMHAIN's drummer from 1985 to 1987 and played on the 1986 LP "Samhain III: November-Coming-Fire", told Wells On Music that there are no plans as of yet for SAMHAIN to work on new material, but he revealed that "Glenn has talked about releasing an 'Initium' outtake called 'The Urge', which is part one of a trilogy of songs, including 'The Shift' and 'The Howl'. He had mentioned the song way back in the old days, but I wasn't sure it really existed. Well, it does, and I'm excited to finally hear it."
