SPIRIT ADRIFT To Release Debut Album In August; Details RevealedFollowing the release of Behind-Beyond - the EP from psychedelic, classically-infused doom metal act Spirit Adrift, Prosthetic Records announce that Spirit Adrift will continue to unveil new material with their debut full-length album, Chained To Oblivion, on August 12th. Produced again by Bob Hoag at Arizona's Flying Blanket Studios, Chained To Oblivion show the continuing evolution and growth of the band's creator, Nate Garrett, both as a songwriter and a person.
"The songs on Chained To Oblivion deal with struggle, adversity, suffering, helplessness, hopelessness, but ultimately triumph", commented Garrett, "I believe that the life experiences which fueled these songs, plus the amount of emotion and energy attached to the recording session itself... all that will touch listeners who are open to it. Sonically speaking, expect more vocal harmonies, trippier lyrics, more guitar harmonies, groovier bass, and drumming that's way more solid. It's heavier, prettier, more concise, more focused, and more confident."
Garrett continued to share details on the album's stunning artwork from Revolting Worship's Nate Burns adding, "He nailed it, again. The artwork on Chained To Oblivion continues to follow the trials and tribulations of Spirit Adrift's matriarch, Brenda. Nate Burns and I talked about my ongoing obsession with outer space, old X-Men comics (particularly some of the Phoenix story arcs), and subliminal stimuli within art. This artwork goes hand in hand with the listening experience, so we've made sure the physical versions of the album are well worth the fans' hard-earned money. I can't wait for the world to hear this album"
Chained To Oblivion features five tracks spanning over 45 minutes of music and will be made available on digipack CD and across all digital outlets. A gatefold double LP version of the album will also be offered through Chicago-based War Crime Recordings.
Tracklisting:
“Psychic Tide”
“Marzanna”
“Form and Force”
“Chained To Oblivion”
“The Hum Of Our Existence”
Spirit Adrift is the result of a lifetime dedicated to music. Both musically and lyrically, the music is punishingly heavy and equally uplifting. Psychedelic currents ebb and flow throughout passages of unrelenting doom and entrancing melody. The focus is on writing memorable, meaningful songs that evoke every sonic influence that shaped the musician channeling them.
Spirit Adrift represents the culmination of every bit of Garrett’s musical experience, from piano lessons at age three, through voice training in school choir, whiskey-soaked Sabbath riffs, the joy of Thin Lizzy guitar harmonies and ZZ Top pinch harmonics, good times, awful times and everything in between. Garrett cut his teeth in the south, in a humid melting pot of doom, sludge, psychedelic rock and hardcore punk. He played, recorded and toured with as many bands as possible and was deeply influenced by the artistic and personal relationships he shared with fellow Arkansans such as Deadbird, Rwake, Seahag and Pallbearer.

HAXXAN - Featuring Killjoy Of NECROPHAGIA - Sign With Hells HeadbangersHells Headbangers announces the signing of HaXXan. The first fruit of this union shall be the band's debut album, Loch Ness Rising, set for release this autumn. Although "new" in name, HaXXan features underground legend Killjoy DeSade (Necrophagia, The Ravenous, Wurdulak) on vocals and synth.
Formed in 2011 by Killjoy and guitarist Shawn Slusarek, the duo decided to write material that had an old-school black metal vibe, citing such influences as Beherit, Archgoat, and Blasphemy with hints of Candlemass and Mercyful Fate. The duo then added bassist Jake Arnette and drummer Serge Streltsov, and soon recorded their debut album, Loch Ness Rising.
Spread over 10 tracks, HaXXan's Loch Ness Rising is conceptually based on Aleister Crowley, as Killjoy has been a life-long Crowley enthusiast. As a full-band unit, HaXXan soon celebrate the life, works, and magick of Crowley through patiently unfolding vistas of doom and dread, eerieness and unease. Recorded at Thelema Studios and mixed/mastered by Grzegorz Kulawiak at Sin Mix Studios, Loch Ness Rising richly resonates with a pure (and purely eerie / uneasy) tone that lends these songs a unique character: undoubtedly heavy in a manner not unlike To Mega Therion-era Celtic Frost, there's likewise a ghostly aspect to its conversely crushing stomp. As expected, Killjoy delivers a peerless performance, stretching all extremes of his twisted 'n' tortured throat, almost narrating the slowly enveloping fog of unearthly horror. Taken together, Loch Ness Rising is an experience both atmospheric and caustic, bleeding black blood and drinking it from a ceremonial cup - just as Crowley would've wanted it.
As longtime fans of Killjoy's incredibly prolific work in the metal underground for the past 30 years, Hells Headbangers warmly welcomes HaXXan to the label, and will be working with Killjoy on a special reissue of Necrophagia's classic debut album, 1987's Season Of The Dead. A statement from Killjoy reads: "HaXXan are extremely pleased to be a part of the Hells Headbangers family. We feel as if this was the only real home for our visions and sounds. Do what thou will shall be the law!" Cover, tracklisting, and release date for HaXXan's Loch Ness Rising shall be revealed shortly.

BLACK CULT Unleash "The Witches Dance" VideoCathedral Of The Black Cult, the second full-length album by Croatian black metal band Black Cult, was released on CD today, June 9th, in Ukraine and Croatia. It will be released in Japan on June 10th, The UK and Europe on June 17th, as well as North and South America on July 8th.
Containing ten songs, including a Motörhead cover “Kingdom Of The Worm”, Cathedral Of The Black Cult is a manifestation of the individual presence of its creators within the black metal scene for almost two decades. Each track is a journey into a realm of despair and darkness, mainly due to the harsh vocals and cold and dark guitar melodies that blend perfectly together. The cover art and tracklisting are as follows:
"Black Cathedral"
"Worship The Beast"
"Dark Matter"
"Until The Devil Takes Us"
"The Witches Dance"
"Hierophant"
"Undeath"
"Gaze Of Insanity"
"Ego Te Absolvo"
"Kingdom Of The Worm" (Motörhead cover)
This is not an album that anyone can just 'whack on' in the background willy nilly. It must be listened to intently and taken in like the musical drug that it is. Cathedral Of The Black Cult is a flawless, yet intimidating musical experience which will open a portal to another dimension to the listener who's ready to gaze into it.
Streaming melodic riffs in extended phrases form the defining character of each song with representational distinction and progressions towards tonal and rhythmic changes, communicating the purpose of hierarchical sequence observed in nature’s ferociously necessary order of operation, reflected in the substance of the inner-self, magnified in the character of spiritual striving and agonizing existential discovery.
This is pure unsaturated black metal in all of its cold fury! There isn’t just grim lyrics reflecting the power of Satan and the beauty of Darkness, but the album actually draws the listener into the world beyond humanity. If you truly understand the music, you will be taken to the dark endless universe!
Check out the video for "The Witches Dance", as well as an album teaser clip below:

IRON MAIDEN Tour Poster Banned In Lithuania For Being Too Scary For KidsAccording to Newsweek, a poster advertising IRON MAIDEN's upcoming concert in Lithuania has been banned by the Baltic country's authorities because the band's Eddie mascot may frighten little kids.
A Lithuanian spokesman for concert promotion agency Live Nation told local news site Delfi that authorities had expressed concern at the effect the poster — which features Eddie with glowing red eyes, wearing white tribal paint and holding a heart in one hand and a bloodied knife in the other — might have on children and ordered all posters be taken down immediately.
Vytautas Paukštė told Delfi: "Right now, we have to decide how to carry on forward, but we must also immediately take down the posters."
IRON MAIDEN is scheduled to perform at Kaunas's 18,000-capacity Žalgiris Arena on June 23.
This is not the first time an image used in the marketing campaign for MAIDEN's current tour and album, "The Book Of Souls", has been deemed unsuitable for children.
Germany's Stern reported last September that a billboard promoting "The Book Of Souls" in the Kreuzberg district of Berlin was covered by a mob of concerned parents who apparently claimed the image had no business being there due to the school and kindergarten near its location.
The artwork for "The Book Of Souls" album and tour was created by Mark Wilkinson, whose previous works for IRON MAIDEN include "Live At Donington" (1998 remastered version) and "Best Of The 'B' Sides" (2002 compilation). According to MAIDEN bassist Steve Harris, the album cover art ties in with the title track, as the depiction of the band's mascot, Eddie, is based on the Maya civilization, who "believe that souls live on [after death]".
To check the accuracy of the artwork, the band hired Mayanist scholar Simon Martin, who also translated the song titles into hieroglyphs. According to Martin, although the civilization had no Book Of Souls, "the Mayans are very big on souls ... So as a title, it's appropriate to Mayan culture, but it's very much IRON MAIDEN's own thing."
Released globally last September through Parlophone Records (Sanctuary Copyrights/BMG in the U.S.), "The Book Of Souls" was recorded in Paris, France with producer Kevin "Caveman" Shirley in late 2014, with the finishing touches added last year. 46

AS LIONS Feat. BRUCE DICKINSON's Son AUSTIN: 'White Flags' Lyric VideoThe official lyric video for "White Flags", a brand new song from the London five-piece AS LIONS, can be seen below. The track is expected to appear on the band's debut EP, due later in the year via Better Noise Records, part of Eleven Seven Music Group. The CD was helmed by David Bendeth, the multi-platinum, award-winning producer who has previously worked with PARAMORE, PAPA ROACH, IN FLAMES, A DAY TO REMEMBER, BRING ME THE HORIZON, OF MICE & MEN and more, and was mixed by Josh Wilbur (MEGADETH, LAMB OF GOD).
Comprised of vocalist Austin Dickinson (son of IRON MAIDEN singer Bruce Dickinson), guitarists Conor O'Keefe and Will Homer, bassist Stefan Whiting, and drummer Dave Fee, AS LIONS formed in late 2014. Called the "hot new band of 2015" by Metal Hammer, the band has been keeping busy by touring regionally and building a national following through the U.K.
Cultivating inspiration from bands that encompass a wide range of rock and metal (MUSE, 30 SECONDS TO MARS, BRING ME THE HORIZON), fans can expect an all-encompassing record that will fuel headbanging and encourage crowd sing-a-longs. This was witnessed in full when AS LIONS performed at the legendary Wembley SSE Arena alongside FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH on November 28, 2015 to celebrate their new label home and upcoming debut album.
Better Noise Records is Eleven Seven Music Group's new avenue for exciting rock artists such as ESCAPE THE FATE and APOCALYPTICA, and is included in the group's distribution deal with RED/Sony in the U.S., ADA in the EU, Sony in Australia, Southeast Asia and South America, as well as Universal in Canada and Japan.
Label owner and founder Allen Kovac adds: "I've been looking for a project to work on with Craig and the team over at Raw Power Management as I admire the work they accomplished with OF MICE & MEN and BRING ME THE HORIZON. Austin Dickinson and AS LIONS have given us this opportunity, blowing us away with his unique voice and dynamic live performance."
AS LIONS was formed after the breakup of Austin's previous band, RISE TO REMAIN, which released one album, "City Of Vultures", in 2011. 3

Former METALLICA Bassist JASON NEWSTED Rejoins VOIVOD On Stage In San Francisco: Video, PhotosCanadian metal innovators VOIVOD were rejoined by their former bassist Jason Newsted during their June 8 concert at Slim's in San Francisco, California. Fan-filmed video footage of his appearance can be seen below.
Newsted joined VOIVOD in 2002 and served as producer for the metal legends' self-titled album in 2003 on the Chophouse Records label (in association with Surfdog Records).
Longtime friends and pioneers of metal music, Newsted and original VOIVOD vocalist Snake (a.k.a. Denis Belanger), guitarist Piggy (a.k.a. Denis D'Amour), and drummer Away (a.k.a. Michel Langevin) first began working together at Newsted's Chophouse studio in 1995, intent on keeping the music alive between busy touring schedules. However, with Newsted's departure from METALLICA in January 2001, he was free to join VOIVOD as a full-fledged member and would remain involved with the group until 2008.
Jason in February 2014 canceled an appearance at Australia's Soundwave festival with his NEWSTED project, citing "private and personal circumstances." The cancelation followed more than a year of intense touring and promotional activity surrounding the release of NEWSTED's "Metal" EP and follow-up album, "Heavy Metal Music", both of which were positively received by the critics and fans alike.
In September 2014, Newsted announced that he was no longer on "Twitter, Instagram, Facebook or any other social networking web site" and added that he had "no affiliation with any such impostor sites using his name or likeness unlawfully." 5

METAL CHURCH Rejoined By Guitarist JOHN MARSHALL At San Francisco Concert (Video)METAL CHURCH was rejoined by guitarist John Marshall for the song "Badlands" during the band's June 8 performance at DNA Lounge in San Francisco, California. Fan-filmed video footage can be seen below.
Marshall was in METAL CHURCH from 1986 to 1993 and again from 1998 to 2001. He was also the guitar tech for METALLICA lead guitarist Kirk Hammett.
Marshall filled in for METALLICA's James Hetfield on rhythm guitar in 1986 when Hetfield's wrist was broken due to a skateboarding accident, and again in 1992 when Hetfield was recovering from pyrotechnics burn injuries stemming from a concert with GUNS N' ROSES in Montreal.
METAL CHURCH's new album, "XI", debuted at No. 57 on The Billboard 200, having shifted 11,000 equivalent album units in the week ending March 31.
"XI", was released on March 25 via Rat Pak Records. Produced by Kurdt Vanderhoof and co-produced by Chris "The Wizard" Collier, the band's eleventh studio release also marks the return of legendary vocalist and frontman Mike Howe.
The reunion between Mike and METAL CHURCH was put in motion in July of 2014 when Mike started working with guitarist Kurdt Vanderhoof on a side project he was forming with Nigel Glockler from SAXON. Through these initial conversations, Kurdt convinced Mike to ultimately return to METAL CHURCH. The idea was to see if they could recapture some of the magic from the three albums METAL CHURCH released in the late '80s: "The Human Factor", "Blessing In Disguise" and "Hanging In The Balance". Out of those sessions, "XI" was born and captures the sound that made the band fan-favorites in the '80's and mixes it with a new, invigorated sound for 2016. Said Mike: "Kurdt Vanderhoof got ahold of me in August of 2014, and he proposed [me] coming back to the band. He said Ronny [Munroe] left the band and he didn't really wanna carry on with METAL CHURCH unless maybe I would consider coming back. So I said, 'Well, I don't know. I'm open to it. But let's see what kind of music we can come up with.' So Kurdt went back to the studio and started writing songs in the vein of 'Hanging In The Balance', where we left off twenty years ago, and he sent them to me over the Internet. And I was, like, 'Damn! The guy still has it and he's doing great work.' So he sent me another batch, and that batch was just as good [as], if not better than, the other. So, from there, I said, Well, I can’t say no to this. And let's just see how it goes.' And we started writing lyrics and getting together, and it's now morphed into this, being back in Aberdeen in the studio making the new METAL CHURCH record."

REVOCATION: Official Lyric Video For New Song 'Monolithic Ignorance'Boston, Massachusetts-based technical metal act REVOCATION will release its new album, "Great Is Our Sin", on July 22 via Metal Blade.
The official lyric video for the song "Monolithic Ignorance" can be seen below.
Having delivered five killer albums boasting some of the most potent, technical and abrasive metal unleashed over the last decade, it would be easy for REVOCATION to sit back and rest upon their laurels. However, with their constant drive to push their sound ever forward and refusal to compromise their integrity, this could never be the case — and "Great Is Our Sin" is their most dynamic, boundary-pushing and weighty release to date. REVOCATION frontman Dave Davidson commented on "Communion": "'Communion' is the fastest song we've recorded to date and while it's blistering in terms of speed there are also some proggy elements present to add contrast to the aggression." When it came time for the follow up to 2014's "Deathless", the quartet had their work cut out for them, and their response to the challenge is a record that grabs you by the throat and refuses to let go. Never forcing anything, the songs that would comprise "Great Is Our Sin" came together organically, and while the members being spread all around North America would have been an impediment to some, REVOCATION drew strength from it. Reuniting with producer Chris "Zeuss" Harris (HATEBREED, SHADOWS FALL), who also helmed "Deathless" and 2012's "Teratogenesis" EP, the record packs the requisite punch, yet retains the organic feel with which it was conceived. Known for their technical prowess, the band remained dedicated to upping the ante without ever losing sight of the importance of good songwriting. While the songs come together to make for a cohesive record that is engaging from front to back, they are further united by the lyrical concept penned by Davidson. The title itself appropriated from Charles Darwin's quote: "If the misery of the poor be caused not by the laws of nature, but by our institutions, great is our sin", Davidson went about building a theme that was not only fittingly expansive, but also had real resonance with regard to contemporary society. "The concept revolves around the folly of man throughout the ages," he said. "Some themes come from historical references that are hundreds of years old, yet sadly these themes are still very relevant today due to mankind's refusal to learn from the lessons history has taught us, time and time again." Regardless of the state of the world, nothing is going to slow REVOCATION down any time soon. Whilst the lineup has changed over the ten years the band has been in existence, Davidson's passion has never waned, and they are arguably sounding better than ever as they look toward the future. "We can't wait to bring these songs out on the road and perform them for different audiences all over the world," he said. "'Great Is Our Sin' is a new chapter for the band, and collectively we feel that it is our defining record to date." In support of "Great Is Our Sin", REVOCATION will hitt the road this summer as part of "The Summer Slaughter Tour" alongside CANNIBAL CORPSE, NILE, AFTER THE BURIAL, SUFFOCATION, CARNIFEX, KRISIUN, SLAUGHTER TO PREVAIL and INGESTED. The tour kicks July 23 in Orlando, Florida and runs through August 21 in Atlanta, Georgia.

USURPRESS - The Regal Tribe Album Details RevealedSweden's doom/crust/prog-infused death metal band, Usurpress, is set to release a brand new album titled The Regal Tribe on September 23rd via Agonia Records. The album's haunting cover artwork was created by renowned Dutch artist Marald van Haasteren (Bolt Thrower, High On Fire, Baroness, Kylesa) who was given a carte blanche with regards to the visual interpretation of the album’s lyrical concept. The Regal Tribe was recorded under the supervision of rising star producer Lawrence Mackrory (FKÜ, Darkane).
The Regal Tribe is the follow up to Ordained (2014) which saw Usurpress leave their deathcrust path for more uncharted territories. During the composing of the new album, the band was plagued by mental disorders/depressions and life threatening illnesses in the member’s immediate families, most notably vocalist/lyricist Stefan Pettersson’s battle with his bone marrow cancer. Therefore, The Regal Tribe is a heavier and darker, yet more varied, complex and thoughtful effort than their previous albums. This concept album is a tragic story about life versus death, about vanity and the relentless passing of time and is by far Usurpress’ most ambitious output to date.
Pettersson states: "We decided early on to discard the traditional way of songwriting/arranging and compose The Regal Tribe one piece at the time, starting with the first riff in the first song and ending with the last riff in the 10:th song. That way we hoped to avoid the album becoming repetitive and stale and instead more fluent and powerful. Listening back to the finished album, I’m convinced we did the right thing. This is the album we have always sought to do".
Since their formation in 2010, Usurpress have gained a reputation as a creative and hardworking band that in a relative short time already have built up an extensive back catalogue of albums, EP’s and splits. Their aim has always been to constantly evolve and expand their soundscape, always looking forward in a restless and tireless way.
Pettersson: "Although we are very proud of all our previous works, we never look back. Dwelling on the past does not interest us at all. We started to write The Regal Tribe a couple of weeks after Ordained was released and we started to draw up the blueprints for our next album before we started to record The Regal Tribe. This is how we do things, we don’t wait for inspiration, we get inspiration from creating".
The Regal Tribe is also the last Usurpress album to feature original drummer Calle Lönnberg who left the band shortly after the recording and was replaced by internationally renowned sticksman Mathias "Matte" Modin (Firespawn, Raised Fist, ex-Dark Funeral, ex-Defleshed).

SODOM To Release 'Decision Day' Album In AugustGerman thrash metal veterans SODOM will release their new album, "Decision Day", on August 26 via SPV/Steamhammer.
Bassist/vocalist Thomas "Angelripper" Such, guitarist Bernd "Bernemann" Kost and drummer Markus "Makka" Freiwald spent four months in the studio honing the new SODOM material. The result is a hard-as-nails, diverse thrash metal offering on the subject of D-Day, the day in June 1944 when the troops of the Western Allied forces landed in Normandy to liberate mainland Europe from the scourge of Nazi Germany. Songs such as "Belligerence", "Decision Day" and "Strange Lost World" present the SODOM frontman once more as a historically well-versed contemporary witness and critical observer of current international events.
"Decision Day" was produced by Cornelius "Corny" Rambadt, sound engineer and drummer with Angelripper's side project ONKEL TOM.
The new release is bound to cause a stir, not least thanks to its impressive artwork courtesy of none other than Joe Petagno. As well as having worked for PINK FLOYD and LED ZEPPELIN, Petagno is also MOTÖRHEAD's favoured graphic designer and has created legendary album covers such as "Overkill", "Orgasmatron" and "Another Perfect Day". Angelripper states: "I was surprised and proud to learn how familiar Joe is with SODOM, immediately bringing up associations of our [gas-masked mascot] Knarrenheinz when we talked about the artwork. For a MOTÖRHEAD fan like myself, this cover is an absolute dream come true."
Adds Petagno: "After having spoken with Tom about the current state of world affairs and heard some brilliant tracks from the album, I wanted to visualize the history of man from the dawn of creation to the mess we have today. Firstly and rather obviously, it's World War 3. However on psychological and symbolic level, it's considerably more. I used Knarrenheinz as a symbol for the countless numbers who have soldiered on through the centuries in one guise or another just to get us here anno 2016 where we seem to be on the brink of another possible eruption."
"Decision Day" track listing

OZZY OSBOURNE Fires Back At Report Suggesting His Marriage Breakup Is Publicity StuntOzzy Osbourne has slammed a man claiming that the breakup of BLACK SABBATH singer's marriage was staged in order to remain "relevant."
Osbourne became infuriated after Radar Online quoted Stephen Machat, described in the report as Ozzy's "former manager," as saying that he believes Ozzy and Sharon's separation was contrived to drum up attention for SABBATH's farewell tour, which resumed earlier this month.
"I would put money on a publicity stunt," Machat is quoted as saying. "They're on a BLACK SABBATH tour. She would do this in a minute. It's propaganda. Sharon is clever enough to make a story that the press would read, so all of a sudden he becomes relevant again."
Although Osbourne did not specifically address the allegations, he offered an emphatic rebuttal via his Facebook page, explaining that Machat was never actually his manager and claiming the two hardly even know one another.
"For the record, Mr. Machat NEVER managed me nor was he employed by me in any capacity at any time in my career," reads Ozzy's statement. "His representation of this is a categorical lie. I met him when he was hanging around the music industry in the early '80s, but haven't seen him in at least 30 years. He's a sad delusional relic from the '80s."
Machat told Radar Online that he didn't believe Ozzy could or would cheat on Sharon, who is also her husband's manager. "He's not all there," Machat said. "I would doubt that he had an affair."
Page Six ran a similar report last month in which insiders claimed that Sharon's airing of her own marital woes was inspired by Beyoncé's "Lemonade", which hinted at marriage drama with Jay Z.
"Sharon is the queen of publicity stunts," sources told the gossip web site. "She's a very smart woman.... If it is a stunt, it has got him almost as much press as when he bit that bat's head off."
The state of the Osbournes' 33-year marriage has been in question for weeks since it was revealed that Sharon caught the BLACK SABBATH singer in an affair with a celebrity hairstylist.
The Osbournes' daughter Kelly faced a barrage of criticism online last month after she tweeted the hairstylist's phone number, which has since been disconnected.
Ozzy and Sharon were seen in public together at a press conference announcing Ozzfest Meets Knotfest, a two-day combined metal and heavy rock festival that will be headlined by SABBATH and SLIPKNOT in September. 3

DROWNING POOL Wants To Jam With 82-Year-Old 'Bodies' SingerAccording to The Pulse Of Radio, DROWNING POOL guitarist CJ Pierce told Loudwire that the band is trying to contact 82-year-old John Hetlinger and invite him to one of their shows. Hetlinger became a viral video sensation this week when he appeared on the NBC series "America's Got Talent" and belted out the DROWNING POOL classic "Bodies", stunning the judges and making it through to the show's next round. Pierce said about the possibility of jamming with Hetlinger: "The feelers are out there and I think it would be fun. Obviously he had a great time with the song and we have a great time with the song every night so it would be awesome to have him onstage with us."
Pierce said he first heard about Hetlinger's performance when family and friends starting texting him about it, explaining: "I picked up my phone and I got a handful of texts from a number of people because I guess it got out yesterday ahead of the airing… I watched it, and man, I am so entertained by it. It's awesome to just see an 82-year-old man get out there and just belt out some metal — whether it was our song or any song, it was just killer to see him do that."
Pierce adding jokingly about DROWNING POOL's history of changing singers, "You know, we've had a revolving door, but Jasen Moreno is our man right now. But if he doesn't work out, we always know we've got John on the backburner."
Pierce said that the band would "love to get in touch" with Hetlinger and hopes he "gets in touch with us."
"Bodies" was DROWNING POOL's first big hit back in 2001, when it appeared on the band's debut album "Sinner". The band's original singer, Dave Williams, died that August of heart disease.
Despite being a huge rock radio smash, it was removed from radio playlists for a while later that year in the wake of the September 11 terrorist attacks.
DROWNING POOL's sixth studio album, "Hellelujah", came out earlier this year and features the singles "By The Blood" and "Hell To Pay". 4

HIRAX Sign With Alpha Omega Management; Band Working On New Studio AlbumAlpha Omega Management has announce the signing of the legendary US Bay Area thrashers, Hirax, to its roster.
Hirax vocalist Katon W. De Pena states: "After an outstanding reception at this year's Maryland Death Fest We are happy to announce our partnership with Alpha Omega Management! With their knowledge and guidance we know that we will make a big impact on the world of thrash metal/heavy-metal worldwide.... They will work with us on planning international tours as well as the upcoming new Hirax studio album!! Let the music world be warned, Hirax is coming."
Alpha Omega Management adds: "We have a huge pleasure to welcome Hirax and its charismatic Frontman and founding member Katon W. De Pena to our family! The band has no need of long introductions, as being one of the pioneers of the Bay Area thrash metal scene! We're looking forward to bring Hirax on new international tours, blasting stronger than ever before!"
Hirax is an American thrash metal band beginning in 1984 under the leadership of vocalist Katon W. De Pena (founding member). The band was an early example of the thrash metal, speed metal and crossover. Hirax is based in Los Angeles but, at that time, because of the weak metal scene in their area, they spent most of their time playing in San Francisco along with Slayer, Metallica, and Exodus, who were all part of the exciting new metal emerging from the Bay area. They released a four-song demo in 1984. This demo was widely circulated and the band became known and respected worldwide through the metal tape trading underground. Since then Hirax has released five full length studio albums and multiple EPs and has toured the world including many festivals in South America, Europe, Japan, Scandinavia, and the US.
Hirax live:

DAWN OF DISEASE Streaming New Track “The Sky Is Empty”“The Sky Is Empty”, a track from the upcoming Dawn Of Disease album Worship The Grave, is now streaming below. Worship The Grave is set to be released on June 24th via Napalm Records. Pre-order the album at this location.
It's no secret that Dawn Of Disease have been highly influenced by old school Swedish death metal: a healthy dose of Scandinavian rawness that worms its way into every tune, but now over the past couple of years these German death metallers have started to conquer new shores and they recently announced their worldwide signing with Napalm Records.
Dawn Of Disease on signing with Napalm Records: “We are very happy and proud to become part of the Napalm family. It feels good to sign with one of the worldwide well-established Metal labels. Four years have passed since we released Crypts Of The Unrotten. With Napalm Records we have the perfect partner to take the next step into the right direction and we are looking very forward to the collaboration, the release of our new album and the upcoming shows during the festival season.”
Napalm Records A&R Sebastian Muench: “We are absolutely excited and honoured to welcome Dawn Of Disease to the Napalm family! Dawn Of Disease has released two brilliant and timeless death metal albums with Legends Of Brutality and Crypts Of The Unrotten and I can ensure you the new album is a true death metal masterpiece!”
Instead of cheaply rehashing the typical Sunlight sound, the guys in Dawn Of Disease opted for a modern and pumping production, courtesy of Woodshed Studios. This puts the spotlight on blasting beats, grinding grooves and insidious melodies. The Northern Germans have also infused their third assault entitled Worship The Grave with unbound guitar solos and more dynamic vocals than ever before – the result might be the most intense death metal release of the year!
Worship The Grave tracklisting:
“Worship The Grave”
“The Saviour's Tomb”
“Ashes”
“On Trails Of Death”
“Prayer For The Dawn”
“Cult Of The Fading Light”
“Through Nameless Ages”
“Outsourcing The Brain”

EARTH SHIP Preview All Tracks From Upcoming Hollowed AlbumBerlin, Germany-based band, Earth Ship, have released a full preview for their upcoming album, Hollowed, set to be released on June 24th via Napalm Records. Listen to samples of all tracks on the album below.
Behold the power of the riff in all shapes and sizes: It would be a serious understatement, even borderline ignorance to simply lump Earth Ship in with the rest of the sludge rock genre – a horribly abused and undefined tag.
Earth Ship was born in 2010 and present an intriguing mix of heavy metal, fuzzy stoner rock and some of the finest sludge to date. The band has already released three full-length albums and toured all across Europe and the UK. Now it’s time to take the next step together with their new home at Napalm Records.
Hollowed tracklisting:
“Reduced To Ashes”
“Hollowed”
“Valley Of Thorns”
“Conjured”
“Monolith”
“In Fire's Light”
“In The Arms Of Medusa”
“Castle Of Sorrow”
“Safeguard Of Death”
“Red Leaves”
“The Edge Of Time”
“Blood Candy” (Bonus Track)
“The Edge Of Time” - Acoustic (Bonus Track)
Album preview:
"Safeguard Of Death":
"Valley Of Thorns" lyric video:
On Hollowed, the band once more gracefully tackle the soft yet stronger dynamic of bands like Kylesa and Crowbar, celebrating and crowning the whole thing with morbid melodies Alice In Chains would be proud of. Saturated with monolithic doom and hauntingly good!
Earth Ship states: "Musically and lyrically, hollowed is a dark and baleful journey through oceans of sludge and vast whisky-flooded valleys to the edge of time."
Pre-order the new album here.

BLAZE BAYLEY Wants One-Off IRON MAIDEN Concert Featuring All Three SingersEx-IRON MAIDEN singer Blaze Bayley has told Metal Talk that he would love to stage a special MAIDEN concert where he would get to perform with the current lineup of the band alongside fellow former MAIDEN frontman Paul Di'Anno.
"What I really want to happen — and a lot of fans ask me about this — is a MAIDEN gig, like a one-off, where it's the three singers [all going up on stage]," he said (see video below). "It's never gonna happen in a million years, but all the fans I speak to about it go, 'Yeah!' And, man, can you imagine the arguments in the pub: 'Oh, Paul's the best' 'Oh, it's Bruce [Dickinson].' 'Oh, it's Blaze.' [Laughs]"
He continued: "Man, I would absolutely… I'd be there, man. I think it would be so much fun, because it would be purely… it would be really fan-orientated. You would have to know the whole spectrum of IRON MAIDEN; you can't be a fairweather fan. You'd have to know the whole spectrum of what IRON MAIDEN's history is to know the significance of Paul and of me and of Bruce. And I think it would be great to get the three of us together."
Bayley also spoke about how his addition to MAIDEN in 1994 came at a time when all heavy metal bands were facing an uncertain future due to the commercial peak of grunge. "People weren't dressing up to go on stage, they were looking at their shoes, and it was okay to have suicidal thoughts and all of this business," Blaze said. "And it was not a happy time for me, coming from WOLFSBANE and being a fan of IRON MAIDEN. I was anti-grunge. I liked some of the music, but the attitude was all wrong for me. I thought, 'Why can't you have this great music without this attitude? Why do you have to hate IRON MAIDEN? Why can't you like NIRVANA and like IRON MAIDEN? Why can't you like SOUNDGARDEN and like…? It's good music. Why do you have to have this…?' It was just wrong, man. And I think that was part… Because they had the attitude, it started to split the scene, and there was no going back from that."
By the time Bayley was booted from IRON MAIDEN to make room for a returning Dickinson in 1999, global music sales peaked and there was a marked shift in media consumption among the younger audiences. "What was happening, CD sales worldwide were going down," Blaze explained. "If you remember, that was when METALLICA sued Napster. And they got a lot of stick for that, but they were doing something which was right. They were stopping pirates; they were stopping people stealing stuff without permission. And what happened, those CD sales started going down, and that's it. So all these artists which could put on these huge shows, [and] they could supplement the tour with CD sales, that started to hurt, man, and there was no money coming from CDs. EMI closed down every factory in every country of the world that made CDs; EMI stopped making CDs. So this is it, man. That's the real story of what was happening. So I was there in that time of fear and darkness in the music industry, when there was so much paranoia around. And that was a very dark time."
The 53-year-old Bayley, who was born in Birmingham, was the original frontman in WOLFSBANE, but left to join MAIDEN, with whom he recorded two studio albums — 1995's "The X Factor" 1998's and "Virtual XI" — before Dickinson returned to the group.
Bayley released his eighth solo album, "Infinite Entanglement", on March 1. 19

AEROSMITH's STEVEN TYLER To Release 'We're All Somebody From Somewhere' Solo Album In JulyAEROSMITH frontman Steven Tyler will release his first-ever solo album, "We're All Somebody From Somewhere", on July 15 via Big Machine Label Group's Dot Records. An accompanying tour called "Out On A Limb" kicks off July 2.
Tyler produced the 15-track country-flavored CD with T Bone Burnett, Dan Huff, Marti Fredriksen and Jaren Johnston. The title track will be released in advance of the album on June 24.
Tyler said during an appearance on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show": "I headed down to Nashville last spring to start working on this project, wrote some kick-ass songs with some of Music City’s finest songwriters and now we get to share them with the world."
He added: "Country music is the new rock 'n' roll. It's not just about porches, dogs and kicking your boots up. It's a whole lot more. It's about being real."
Speaking with Rolling Stone during an over-the-phone press conference, Tyler stated about "We're All Somebody From Somewhere": "I believe y'all are gonna listen to this stuff and you’re gonna agree with me that it fell from a star. I had nothing to do with this shit, it's just Nashville. There's something so magical about this town and me writing with all these people."
Tyler's first country single, "Love Is Your Name", came out in May 2015 and was followed this past January by "Red White And You", which was also produced by Huff.
"Out On A Limb" is a 19-city run that finds Tyler appearing at intimate venues with a Nashville-based backing band, LOVING MARY. Stops include the CMA Music Festival on June 11 and the "Today" show's concert series on June 24.
"The last time we did small venues was at the end of that first run of AEROSMITH, about '81, '82, '83," Tyler told Rolling Stone. "We started going down, the band started breaking up. . . [But] I always loved them. I prefer them. I like to look out and everybody's close, as opposed to [a crowd of] 20,000 when there's the barricade and they keep everybody back, going, 'We need a fire lane!' I'm going, 'What the fuck? I can't see or feel the people.
"It's a very living-room thing to play small venues, it's a little more personal," he continued. "I get to talk to people and be up-close and personal, and tell them how the music business is a dark trench, a dark, dirty, money trench. [Laughs] And talk about where I get my inspiration from and talk about the new songs on the record and get to play, finally, songs that we couldn't because the record will be out by then."

AXL ROSE Talks About Working On New Music, Relationship With ANGUS YOUNG And Possible AutobiographyAxl Rose, lead singer of GUNS N' ROSES and current guest vocalist on the AC/DC tour, took part in a rare interview on Tuesday (June 7) at the China Exchange in London, United Kingdom. The chat was part of the Prudential Series of talks which gives the audience an exciting opportunity to interact with exceptional people from a variety of fields of interest from music and entertainment to business and academia.
During the question-and-answer session — audio of which can be heard below — Rose was asked if there are any plans for him to release new music in the not-too-distant future. He said: "We are working on new stuff. I've got a lot of stuff together, and I played some stuff for [GUNS N' ROSES bandmates] Slash and Duff [McKagan] and they liked it. And Angus [Young, AC/DC guitarist] and I are talking about working together."
Rose was also asked about the possibility of him one day writing his autobiography, just as Slash and McKagan had done. He said: "I think so — quite possibly, yes. But it's tough, because I have to figure out how to word things in a way that doesn't just look like I'm being negative to everyone else or calling them a liar."
He continued: "Slash and I hadn't talked in 19 years, and [when we finally reconnected] it was a good talk. And I was, like, 'You wrote a lot of stuff [in your book] that didn't even happen. It's not real.'"
Asked about his relationship with Angus Young, Axl said: "It's great. I can't really explain it. I feel something… I feel protective, [like] I do not want to let this guy down, more than almost anybody I've ever met. And I don't know why. And he's very responsive to me. And they said they hadn't seen him this happy, they hadn't seen him moving around [as much before]. So that's kind of a neat thing between musicians."
Elsewhere in the Q&A, Rose discussed whether he has no plans for a solo album, if he is interested in working on film soundtracks, why he's working with a vocal coach again and the impact of YouTube on the music business.
The rescheduled dates of AC/DC's North American tour — which will be the band's first concerts here with Rose on lead vocals —will kick off at Greensboro Coliseum in Greensboro, North Carolina on August 27, just five days after Rose completes his summer stadium run with GUNS N' ROSES.
AC/DC will make up the ten shows it was forced to cancel earlier this year when singer Brian Johnson had to abruptly come off the road or face total hearing loss.
The group recruited Axl Rose for 22 shows, including a dozen stops in Europe. There are three dates left on the European run.
For the shows in Europe with Axl Rose on vocals, AC/DC has been surprising fans by including rarely played tunes from their formidable archive such as "Rock 'N' Roll Damnation", "Riff Raff", "Touch Too Much" and "If You Want Blood (You've Got It)". 9

Flyer Purportedly Reveals Details Of BLACK SABBATH's 2017 U.K. TourBritish heavy metal legends BLACK SABBATH, who are scheduled to perform at the 2016 edition of United Kingdom's Download festival this weekend, are apparently planning to close out their "The End" farewell tour with a string of U.K. dates in January/February 2017.
Although there has been no confirmation from SABBATH's official web site or social media sites, a leaked image of one of many flyers around Donington Park ahead of this year's Download appears to confirm that the band will return to the U.K. for seven more shows, including two in London, one in Scotland and two in the heavy metal legends' hometown of Birmingham.
BLACK SABBATH guitarist Tony Iommi recently said that "it would be nice to think ['The End' tour] could finish back where it all started — in Birmingham.
"When we are home where we started, we have always found it a bit nerve-racking, but Birmingham means such a lot to us."
Asked if there could be a live album, he said: "It's possible, because we are doing a lot of filming during the tour, too."
Iommi said that SABBATH's farewell tour, which began in January, is truly its last because he is not physically capable of doing it any longer. But he insisted that he would continue to play music. "I just can't keep going out on these long tours," he said.
Iommi, who was diagnosed with lymphoma in 2012 and was treated all through SABBATH's extensive 2013 world tour, admitted last year that he was worried the rigors of the road could bring the disease back. He revealed: "I don't want that creeping back again, and all the traveling involved in SABBATH tours increasingly takes its toll. That's why we're going out on one last tour, to say our farewells. And then it very definitely is the end. We won't be doing it again."
The legendary guitarist continued: "Don't get me wrong, I still love gigging. It's all the traveling and the exhaustion that goes with it that's the problem. That side of things has a big impact on me… I love being up there onstage, playing with SABBATH. What I don't love is all the other stuff necessary to enable that to happen."
Iommi was hospitalized last year with back problems, and he still requires blood tests every six weeks to monitor his lymphoma.

IRON MAIDEN's Manager On 'The Book Of Souls' Tour: 'This Is Not A Rock Show Anyone Should Miss'British heavy metal legends IRON MAIDEN opened the European leg of their stunning "The Book Of Souls" world tour in Germany last week to rave reviews. The band will play at the U.K. Download festival on Sunday, June 12, flying in on Ed Force One, piloted by singer Bruce Dickinson, on Saturday, June 11, landing at East Midlands Airport at approximately 2:00 p.m. from Paris CDG carrying band, crew and over 20 tons of equipment, including their full Maya-themed arena stage show.
This will be the IRON MAIDEN's sixth headline appearance at Castle Donington, having first performed there in 1988 at the legendary Monsters Of Rock festival, drawing a record-breaking crowd of 107,000 fans and again in 1992. The band then headlined the inaugural Download festival on the site in 2003 and have also headlined the festival in 2007 and 2013. This performance at Download 2016 will be IRON MAIDEN's only U.K. performance this year.
The band is now over halfway through "The Book Of Souls" world tour on a journey which included first-ever visits to China and El Salvador, the latter being officially named by the El Salvador government as the biggest event ever to have taken place in that country, with over 25,000 fans in attendance.
In total, Ed Force One will travel over 75,000 miles and to date the tour has visited 43 cities, crossed 6 continents and band, crew and entourage consumed well over 10,000 bottles of Trooper beer and occupied over 6000 hotel rooms!
IRON MAIDEN manager Rod Smallwood comments: "The show is truly spectacular and the band are on top form so everything is going just great so far. Well over half a million fans have already seen the show and reactions and reviews everywhere have been phenomenal.
"This is not a rock show anyone should miss. Because we have the space on Ed Force One, we are able to bring to the fans everywhere the same full stadium and arena show we would put on in London or L.A., including Eddie in his latest guises. At 10 feet tall, he certainly makes his presence felt on the stage, as anyone coming to the show will see for themselves!
"High points to date have to include the two concerts in China, which clearly demonstrated the similarities of fans all around the planet. They knew every word and, even more amazingly, the Ministry of Culture allowed us to present our entire show with only a couple of very minor alterations, which I don't think anyone expected would happen to this degree. We thought maybe Bruce ripping Eddie's heart out on stage may pose an issue to them, but no, not at all. And the fans were terrific.
"The stadium shows around South and Central America and Mexico were as spectacularly vibrant as always, as were the two sold-out shows at the L.A. Forum. In New Zealand many of us caught some local culture — rugby! — and right across Australasia the fans were as passionate as ever. Add a couple of terrific shows in Tokyo and our first visit to South Africa in 21 years for two concerts, and it all adds up to a very special tour experience for everybody; fans, band and crew alike.
"We really have had a blast with our fans and expect that to continue at Download in front of our home fans and then across the rest of Europe. Make sure you don't miss this!!"

BLACK SABBATH's GEEZER BUTLER: The Story Behind My Bar Brawl ArrestBLACK SABBATH bassist Geezer Butler spoke to U.K.'s Classic Rock magazine about his surprise January 2015 arrest following an altercation at the Corkscrew Saloon on the Furnace Creek Ranch in Death Valley, California. The 66-year-old musician said: "My sister-in-law had just died, and I'd gone to Death Valley in California just to get away from it all. Not just that, everything — Christmas, New Year's, everything like that. I went down to the gift shop in the hotel, and there was this nice Western bar there. I thought, 'I may as well have one before I go to bed.' It was the strongest beer I've ever had in my life.
"The next thing I know, this guy started mouthing off about something. He was, like, some drunken Nazi bloke. He recognized me, and because I was in the music business, he started going on about Jews and everything — Jews this, Jews that. My missus is Jewish and I'd just had enough, and me hand sort of met his chin. I whacked him one."
The bar owners called the Inyo County police, who arrived shortly after midnight and reported a broken window and one person struck during the altercation.
"I was absolutely legless at the time," said Geezer. "I don't know what happened, but one minute I was in this bar, and the next thing I was being arrested. I woke up jail. That was bad enough, but waking up with a hangover was horrible. I was totally ashamed. I should have just walked away. But when you get pissed out of your brains, you don't know what you're doing."
According to Butler, he initially planned to stay away from alcohol that month as he was observing Dry January — the annual campaign in the U.K. run by Alcohol Concern that encourages people to stop drinking for the month after Christmas. "Because it was Dry January, I wasn't even going to drink," said Geezer. "And it was something like January 28, so it was so close. But I haven't touched booze since."
After his arrest, Butler was booked at the Inyo County Jail under this full name of Terence Michael Butler. He was charged with misdemeanor assault, public intoxication and vandalism and was released "after detox and citation," the Inyo County Sheriff's Department said in a press release.
Geezer's mug shot can be seen below.
A founding member of BLACK SABBATH, Butler is also the lyricist of such SABBATH classics as "War Pigs", "Iron Man", "Paranoid" and others.
Butler, singer Ozzy Osbourne and guitarist Tony Iommi reunited in late 2011 and released a comeback album, "13", in June 2013. 9

Asked why STONE SOUR decided to cover "Running Free", singer Corey Taylor told Metal Hammer: "Well, if you're going to cover something, then you want to make sure you go for the best. It's no secret that I'm a huge IRON MAIDEN fan because... I mean... it's fucking MAIDEN, man! They've got so many great songs and I think they've got two vocalists that really led the charge you know. Not to put anything down that they did with Blaze [Bayley], but growing up it was [Paul] Di'Anno and [Bruce] Dickinson for me. So it was just a case of figuring out which tune we wanted to do and 'Running Free' just had the spirit of what we were looking for. You know, it's kickass, it's driving, it’s got the great MAIDEN guitar breaks that makes them such a special band. So, once we settled on that song and really got into it, we were really stoked."
TRIVIUM frontman Matt Heafy previously told Kerrang! that his band's own brand of heavy riffage could never have existed without MAIDEN's worldwide influence.
"IRON MAIDEN helped create what we know as heavy metal," he said. "Their influence can be heard on classic and contemporary bands alike; their fanbase spans across the youngest and newest of heavy music recruits all the way to the diehard, life-long metal elite." 1
