Video: DEFTONES Perform On

Video: DEFTONES Perform On 'Jimmy Kimmel Live!'

DEFTONES was the musical guest on last night's (Tuesday, April 12) episode of "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" The band played several songs on the show's outdoor stage in front of a standing-room-only crowd. Video footage of the "Hearts/Wires" and "Prayers/Triangles" performances can be seen below. Both tracks are taken from DEFTONES' eighth studio album, titled "Gore", which was released on April 8 via Warner Bros. Records. The CD was produced by Matt Hyde and DEFTONES. DEFTONES singer Chino Moreno said that "Prayers/Triangles" was very much in the band's classic style, explaining: "It's just one of those songs that's very 'DEFTONES-esque,' where that dynamic is there as far as that ebb and flow...that dichotomy is what makes us who were are in a way. It's sort of our DNA. So I feel like it's a good representation of where we're at right now and where we've been in the past as well."

"Gore" serves as the follow-up to 2012's "Koi No Yokan", which featured the Top 15 rock radio hit "Tempest".

The new disc features a guest appearance from ALICE IN CHAINS guitarist Jerry Cantrell.

Moreno told U.K.'s Kerrang! magazine about the new album title: "If you look at the title and the artwork, it's about a juxtaposition that, for me, is very beautiful.

"I think DEFTONES have always flirted with dynamic and that yin-and-yang of things that are provocative and things that are beautiful. Where our last two album titles were a lot more optimistic, I think this title is intentionally different. This record is very different.

"I feel like 'Diamond Eyes' and 'Koi No Yokan' were brother-sister records in a lot of ways. They were both recording in the same way. And even though it was a tough few years we went through while making those records, I think it was important to have their optimistic outlook."

Moreno also spoke in more detail about the making of "Gore". He said: "We recorded this record in a different way. I'm not saying we went in with any preconceived ideas as such, but I do think we went in knowing that we wanted to make this record a little different from the last two. And I feel, definitely, like we did that. It's still a DEFTONES record — we didn't really have any new influences that changed that — but it's an expansion of what we were comfortable with. And it's important to get out of your comfort zone sometimes witch the music — just to be excited. It's got a different look. A different shade of color. I'd say some shade of purple. I don't know why, but I think it sits somewhere between pink, red and purple. Sometimes when I hear music, I see color, and when it came time to work on the artwork for this batch of songs, I knew exactly what I wanted."

GUNS N

GUNS N' ROSES: Multi-Camera Fan-Filmed Video Footage Of First Las Vegas Comeback Concert

Multi-camera fan-filmed video footage of GUNS N' ROSES' April 8 concert at the new T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada can be seen below.

GUNS N' ROSES played its two shows at T-Mobile Arena on Friday and Saturday, despite singer Axl Rose breaking a bone in his foot. The injury necessitated that Rose undergo a surgical procedure to insert a plate and screws. Rose revealed the injury via Twitter, saying "This is what can happen when you do something you haven't done in nearly over 23 years," apparently referring to the surprise GUNS concert on Friday, April 1 featuring Rose, guitarist Slash and bassist Duff McKagan.

Rose also posted a video interview with his orthopedic surgeon in which the foot specialist revealed that Rose is currently in a cast and cannot put any weight on his foot. She pinpointed the break at Rose's fifth metatarsal and noted that he will have to limit the amount of weight he puts on the front part of his foot "for about four weeks."

For the shows, Rose performed on what was apparently the same custom throne Dave Grohl used last year for FOO FIGHTERS shows after breaking a leg. Rose told the audience before GN'R launched into "Rocket Queen" on Friday night, "I wanna thank Dave Grohl for this; it was very nice of him."

Only Rose, Slash and McKagan from GN'R's "Appetite For Destruction"-era lineup took part in the Las Vegas shows. They were joined by keyboardist Dizzy Reed, guitarist Richard Fortus and drummer Frank Ferrer. Also appearing with them was second keyboardist Melissa Reese.

GUNS N' ROSES are still scheduled to play two shows in Mexico City and two gigs at the Coachella Valley Music And Arts Festival starting next weekend. A full North American tour is on tap for this summer.

Several hours after announcing the tour on April 1, GUNS played a gig at the Troubadour, one of the Los Angeles clubs where the band first performed before the release of its debut album, 1987's "Appetite For Destruction".

The set list for the Vegas shows expanded upon the song selection at the Troubadour, adding "Patience" and several favorites from the "Use Your Illusion" albums such as "November Rain", "Civil War", "Estranged" and "Coma", which had not been performed live since 1993.

SAIGON KICK Guitarist JASON BIELER Releases New OWL STRETCHING Infatuation EP

SAIGON KICK Guitarist JASON BIELER Releases New OWL STRETCHING Infatuation EP

Saigon Kick guitarist Jason Bieler has released a new Owl Stretching EP, entitled Infatuation. The four track EP can be streamed below and purchased via Bandcamp here.

Bieler: "The first of a few new musical experiments! Hope you enjoy!"

Infatuation EP by Owl Stretching

The tracklist is as follows:

"Infatuation"
"No Real Goodbyes"
"True Love"
"Aqua Lung"

Bieler released another new song via his Owl Stretching side-project back in January He posted the track along with the following update:

"So strange that I wrote and recorded this song on Friday (January 8th) and did this Bowie fame vocal nod that I was going to take out just because it was, well, a rip, but now I will leave it in as a small nod to the genius."

True Love by Owl Stretching

Saigon Kick recorded a cover of the David Bowie classic 'Space Oddity' for their Water album in 1993 featuring Bieler on lead vocals (check it out below). Bieler checked in with a tribute to Bowie, who passed away at 69 on January 10th following an 18 month battle with cancer.

"Getting a message that David Bowie thought a cover you did 'was really good' was a massive career highlight, even if he was just being kind. Knowing that in some microscopic way we briefly crossed paths is like saying you shared a cup of coffee with Dali or rode the train with John Lennon, irrelevant in their worlds but life changing in yours. I had no idea he was that ill when I posted about him on Friday (January 8th). I spent the entire weekend listening to the Blackstar album over and over, talking with my daughter about how amazing it is to be that current, cutting edge and relevant for so long... as he is on her playlists as much as mine. Music and life done right…well done Mr. Bowie."

THOMAS ZWIJSEN Performs Acoustic Version Of IRON MAIDEN’s “If Eternity Should Fail” From New NYLON MAIDEN Album; Video

THOMAS ZWIJSEN Performs Acoustic Version Of IRON MAIDEN’s “If Eternity Should Fail” From New NYLON MAIDEN Album; Video

Video footage of Dutch classical guitarist Thomas Zwijsen performing Iron Maiden’s “If Eternity Should Fail” can be seen below. Zwijsen is known for his acoustic renditions of some of metal’s greatest songs and arrangements of Iron Maiden tracks

“If Eternity Should Fail” (video below) will be featured on the new album from Thomas Zwijsen’s Nylon Maiden, entitled Preserved In Time, and due for release in June. Thomas has gained almost 10 million views on YouTube with his arrangements of Iron Maiden songs for classical guitar, making this his most anticipated album to date.

Preserved In Time promises to be Zwijsen’s ultimate Iron Maiden tribute album. It makes the classical guitar world a bit more metal by adding 16 Iron Maiden songs (and two Bruce Dickinson songs) to its repertoire.

Zwijsen’s long-time collaborator Blaze Bayley is one of the returning guest musicians on this album, performing two tracks from his Iron Maiden days, as well as a unique version of “Blood Brothers” off the Brave New World album! This is the first time Blaze performs an Iron Maiden song from the post-Blaze era. It gives Iron Maiden fans an idea of what it would have sounded like if Blaze had stayed with the band.

Tracklisting:

Disc 1
“If Eternity Should Fail”
“Stranger In A Strange Land”
“Judgement Of Heaven” (with Blaze Bayley & Anne Bakker)
“Ghost Of The Navigator”
“Powerslave” (Thomas & band)
“Burning Ambition”
“Tears Of The Dragon” (Bruce Dickinson song)
“Blood Brothers” (with Blaze Bayley)
“When The Wild Wind Blows” (Thomas & band)

Disc 2
“Afraid To Shoot Strangers”
“Como Estais Amigos” (with Blaze Bayley & Anne Bakker)
“Wrathchild”
“Tears Of A Clown”
“Jerusalem” (Bruce Dickinson song)
“For The Greater Good Of God”
“Reach Out”
“Fear Of The Dark”
“Rime Of The Ancient Mariner” (Thomas & band)

Zwijsen comments; “in our attempt to choose the best track listing for the most fulfilling, surprising and complete Iron Maiden tribute album, we simply couldn't fit all the songs on a single CD, so we decided to make it a double CD this time. Many of the songs were requests from people on YouTube. If this were to be the setlist at an Iron Maiden concert, I’d be very happy!”

People who pre-order the album get some cool extras:

- Their names printed in the booklet of the album, preserved in time!
- The album signed by Thomas
- A free specially designed stainless steel Nylon Maiden dog tag.

BLACK SABBATH

BLACK SABBATH's GEEZER BUTLER Wants To Write An Autobiography

BLACK SABBATH bassist Geezer Butler was asked by KillYourStereo.com what is left on his bucket list from a "non-musical point of view." He responded: "I'd like to write a memoir for my grandkids, because by the time they are grown, I'll be long gone, and I'd like them to learn about me from my own hand rather than hearsay."

A founding member of SABBATH, Butler is also the lyricist of such SABBATH classics as "War Pigs", "Paranoid", "Iron Man" and many others.

Butler, SABBATH singer Ozzy Osbourne and guitarist Tony Iommi reunited in 2011 and released their first album together in 35 years, "13", in June 2013.

SABBATH's farewell tour, dubbed "The End", finished up a North American leg on March 7 in Vancouver and next heads to Australia.

Butler admitted in an interview with Rolling Stone that the tour is "bittersweet," saying, "I'm glad we're finishing on a high note but sad that it's the end of what I've known for most of my life."

The band has made an EP featuring four songs left over from the "13" sessions available at the shows.

Although SABBATH will not tour again after this run, Butler, Osbourne and Iommi have not ruled out recording together again.

SCORPIONS:

SCORPIONS: 'We Built This House' Performance Video From Tour Edition Of 'Return To Forever'

German hard rock veterans SCORPIONS will release the "tour edition" of their latest album, "Return To Forever", on April 22 via Century Media. The set comes opulently stacked with two brand-new live DVDs and is bound to make fans' hearts leap for joy. Apart from the standard album's twelve tracks, the CD contains all seven bonus tracks, which to date, have only been released on special editions of the album. The live DVDs are even more expansive, offering generous bonus material.

Included are two complete concerts from last year: The open-air gig at the French Hellfest festival, where they headlined in June, and their show at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York featuring an impressive guest performance on "No One Like You" by twelve-year-old guitarist Brandon Niederauer.

A live version of "We Built This House", captured during SCORPIONS' September 12, 2015, stop at Barclays Center, can be seen below.

The brand-new fifteen-minute video documentary "On The Road In America" by Dennis Dirksen gets to the heart of the matter that the SCORPIONS are able to consistently attract new generations of fans, who are delighted by their songs, sound and shows. Shot during the current world tour in California and Las Vegas, it gives a voice to fans spanning from teenagers to rock 'n' roll veterans. The film impressively shows how popular the SCORPIONS are in the U.S., and it's touching to see fans burst into tears while taking photos with the musicians. One highlight is the story of the Ukrainian woman who at the time used "Wind Of Change" as an impetus to emigrate to the U.S., and has been a dedicated follower of the band ever since. After all, the SCORPIONS have not only left their mark on history but continue to influence their fans' biographies.

In an extensive track-by-track interview, Klaus Meine, Rudolf Schenker and Matthias Jabs offer a sneak peek into the band's musical universe with anecdotes about the origin and meaning of the songs on "Return To Forever". The SCORPIONS manage to blend new songs like "Going Out With A Bang", "We Built This House" and "Rock 'N' Roll Band" seamlessly with their fulminant repertoire of rock classics from "Big City Nights" and "Blackout" to "Still Loving You" and "Rock You Like A Hurricane". This might also be the open secret allowing the SCORPIONS to continuously approach their live shows with so much freshness, passion and conviction. The SCORPIONS have been going full throttle for more than fifty years now, with their best-selling albums dominating the charts for over 500 weeks in Germany alone, and countless chart successes abroad, as well as thousands of unforgettable concerts in cities like Rio de Janeiro, Tokyo, Moscow, New York, Los Angeles, Paris or Berlin.

The "Return To Forever" tour edition will be available as a CD + 2DVD digipack and as a download.

BLACK SABBATH’s GEEZER BUTLER – “It Is Better To Go Out On Top Than To Drag It Out To The Bitter End”

BLACK SABBATH’s GEEZER BUTLER – “It Is Better To Go Out On Top Than To Drag It Out To The Bitter End”

Black Sabbath will resume The End Tour on April 15th in Perth, Australia. During the band's current break from the road, bassist Geezer Butler spoke with Metal Wani about the band’s final tour.

An excerpt:

Metal Wani: With every passing show, how emotional is The End tour for you and the band?

Butler: “The final show is going to be very emotional, but it is better to go out on top than to drag it out to the bitter end. We are playing better than ever and yes it will be good to end on a positive note.”

Metal Wani: From the perspective of being the band who are heavy metal pioneers, what would you envisage as the legacy that Black Sabbath will leave behind in its music, the experience of not just the band but its fans and of having been there and done that?

Butler: “I think that we showed that you don’t have to be a favorite of the media critics to be successful. Our fans have been incredible; it’s great to see so many of them who have been with us from the beginning, and so many new fans. I would like to thank them all for giving us such an incredible life.”

Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi and Geezer Butler wrapped the first dates of Black Sabbath's massive 2016 The End world tour earlier this month (March 7th) in Vancouver, BC to an overwhelming response, from fans and critics alike. The first leg of sold-out North American shows will be followed by a run of summer performances including return visits to Los Angeles (at the iconic Hollywood Bowl), New York, Chicago and 14 additional cities. Tickets for the summer shows are available at Livenation.com.

See Black Sabbath's world wide itinerary below. These dates mark the end of the epic journey that Black Sabbath began nearly five decades ago. The massive 2016 The End world tour by the greatest metal band of all time will take the band to Australia and New Zealand in April, then Europe fora mix of summer headlining and festival performances, before returning to North America in August.

As previously announced, a special fans-only CD featuring original artwork by Shepard Fairey/Obey Giant is being sold at shows along the tour route. The CD is comprised of eight previously unreleased tracks: four songs are outtakes from Black Sabbath's worldwide #1, Grammy Award-winning album 13 and four live songs from the band's critically acclaimed 13 World Tour.

JOE LYNN TURNER

JOE LYNN TURNER's SUNSTORM: 'Edge Of Tomorrow' Video Released

Legendary hard rock vocalist Joe Lynn Turner (RAINBOW, DEEP PURPLE, YNGWIE MALMSTEEN) recently traveled to Vikos Gorge in northern Greece to film a video for the song "Edge Of Tomorrow" from his SUNSTORM project with director Menelaos Sykovelis. The track is the title cut of SUNSTORM's fourth album, which will be released on May 13 via Frontiers Music Srl.

You can now watch the "Edge Of Tomorrow" video below.

Regarding why he chose Vikos Gorge as the location for his new video, Joe told Epirus Gate (see clip below): "'Edge Of Tomorrow' is basically a lyric about the apocalypse that's happening right now and the geopolitical situation in our world. So I came to Greece, and I came to Vikos canyon, the deepest and longest canyon in the world, the canyon of the Gods. This is where all of civilization started. With the golden eagle that Zeus would use and have on his hand, he flies with us. He represents the freedom that people should have instead of the enslavement which the world has become from the geopolitical powers."

He continued: "When I spoke to the producer and director, Menelaos, who, actually, his name comes from the king of Sparta… He's a visionary and an incredible artist, and he knew that this particular location was where we should do this, where we should show the world what is happening in symbology, in symbolic form.

"So watch this video, set yourself free and know that Vikos canyon, the canyon of the Gods, is here for you. See the spectacular, most amazing place on Earth."

SUNSTORM is Joe Lynn Turner's successful AOR/melodic rock project, something that came about for the first time in 2006 when Frontiers president Serafino Perugino wanted to dig up some unreleased gems that Turner wrote during the late '80s and early '90s.

The very good reviews and acclaim which surrounded the debut self-titled release was the fuel that ignited three more records, until the project was momentarily shelved when Joe started working on the RATED X supergroup with Tony Franklin and Carmine Appice.

After the release of the RATED X album, Joe wanted to go back to the more melodic material of SUNSTORM, but also wanted to retain some of the harder edge which the RATED X album had. So he asked producer and songwriter Alessandro Del Vecchio (HARDLINE, EDGE OF FOREVER) to come up with some new songs in that vein. Del Vecchio joined forces with Simone Mularoni, guitar player of Italian prog metallers DGM. Together they developed songs which were exactly what Joe wanted, so it was a natural process to move forward and record another SUNSTORM album. As usual, other songwriters, such as Soren Kronqvist and Daniel Palmqvist completed the array of individuals involved.

Joe Lynn Turner said: "This new SUNSTORM album is the best of the series! We went harder... stronger... and heavier than ever before without losing the integrity of what the project is about... I call it melodic metal! The songs are very well crafted, the messages are profound, the performances amazing.. and the sound is incredible! All involved can be very proud of such a great music. I urge anyone who loves great music to check out 'Edge Of Tomorrow'; you won't be disappointed!"

"Edge Of Tomorrow" track listing:

01. Don't Walk Away From A Goodbye02. Edge Of Tomorrow03. Nothing Left To Say04. Heart Of The Storm05. The Sound Of Goodbye06. The Darkness Of This Dawn07. You Hold Me Down08. Angel Eyes09. Everything You've Got10. Tangled In Blue11. Burning Fire

SUNSTORM is:

The track is taken from the group's eighth studio album, titled "Gore", which was released on April 8 via Warner Bros.

Vandal Caught On Closed-Circuit TV Smashing Bare Hand Through GORGUTS

Vandal Caught On Closed-Circuit TV Smashing Bare Hand Through GORGUTS' Tour Bus Window

According to Manchester Evening News, Canadian technical death metallers GORGUTS became victims of unprovoked vandalism late last month when a man smashed through their tour bus window with his bare hand.

The incident took place on March 29 at 12:35 a.m. when the band's coach was parked outside the Sound Control venue on New Wakefield Street in Manchester, England.

In closed-circuit TV footage released by the police, which can be seen below, the man is seen walking up alongside the GORGUTS vehicle. He appears to be relaxed as he gets to the rear of the black coach, but then, for no apparent reason, smashes his forearm into one of its back windows. The man then turns away, before making off into the night.

GORGUTS' booking agency Avocado is appealing for information about the identity of the person responsible for the mindless act of vandalism.

Anyone with information should call Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111 or contact the police on the non-emergency number 101. Alternatively, you can tweet Avocado @avocadobooking.

GORGUTS will release a new one-track EP, "Pleiades' Dust", on May 13 via Season Of Mist.

Video: BATTLE BEAST Performs In Toulouse, France

Video: BATTLE BEAST Performs In Toulouse, France

Fan-filmed video footage of Finnish metallers BATTLE BEAST performing on April 6 at Le Bikini in Toulouse, France as the support act for POWERWOLF can be seen below.

BATTLE BEAST in February 2015 parted ways with lead guitarist and main songwriter Anton Kabanen due to "insurmountable disagreements" with the other members of the band. A substitute guitarist was enlisted for BATTLE BEAST's recent shows.

BATTLE BEAST's third studio album, "Unholy Savior", entered the Finnish chart at position No. 1. The CD was released in January 2015 via Nuclear Blast.

Singer Noora Louhimo joined BATTLE BEAST in 2012 as the replacement for Nitte Vänskä.

In an interview with RockRevoltMagazine.com, Noora stated about "Unholy Savior": "'Unholy Savior' includes various kind of songs: the BATTLE BEAST kind of hard, balls-to-the-wall power metal, soft and sexy pop-ish song, and a couple ballads. And, of course, a couple of bonus tracks that are influenced by '80s music. I think this album is showing different aspects of BATTLE BEAST and give more versatility in heavy metal genre."

Asked how she has been received by the old BATTLE BEAST fans, Noora said: "At first, I was crucified, so to speak. On the other hand, some fans thought I was improvement for the band, but some didn't believe in me at all. It's been very growing experience and made me believe more in myself as a singer than ever before. If you can take bad comments as your fuel to practice more and develop yourself into better, then you are on the right path. Of course, you have to know when take the critic seriously and when it is just someone trying to hurt you. But I really want to thank people who've been supporting me since the beginning but also the people who didn't. What doesn't kill makes stronger and better."

Video Premiere: FEAR FACTORY

Video Premiere: FEAR FACTORY's 'Expiration Date'

"Expiration Date", the new video from Los Angeles industrial metallers FEAR FACTORY, can be seen below. The clip was filmed with director Tommy Jones, who has previously worked with KATAKLYSM, SOILWORK, LAMB OF GOD, CARCASS and TESTAMENT, among others.

"Expiration Date" is taken from FEAR FACTORY's latest album, "Genexus", which was released on August 7, 2015 via Nuclear Blast Entertainment. The follow-up to 2012's "The Industrialist" was co-produced by longtime collaborator Rhys Fulber, along with guitarist Dino Cazares and vocalist Burton C. Bell and mixed by Andy Sneap (ARCH ENEMY, TESTAMENT, EXODUS, MACHINE HEAD). Artwork was once again handled by Anthony Clarkson. Drums on "Genexus" were performed by Mike Heller (MALIGNANCY).

In an interview with Rolling Stone, Bell stated about "Expiration Date": "I'm a big fan of melodic rock bands like U2 and even SISTERS OF MERCY and I've always integrated that influence into our music. It's funny because back when we first started, people heard this crazy death metal with screaming and then these clean vocals and they went, 'What the fuck is this?' They hated it. Then later, kids who were too young to know us in 2000 heard us and thought we were ripping off KILLSWITCH ENGAGE, so you can't win. With 'Genexus', we didn't want to do away with the melodic vocals, so we approached every song in a new way and used a combination of growls, melodic screams and clean singing. For 'Expiration Date', the music just didn't call for death metal vocals at all."

FEAR FACTORY last month embarked on a U.S. headlining tour on which it is performing its classic second album, "Demanufacture", in its entirety. A list of all the tour dates can be found at FearFactory.com

DESPISED ICON Sign To Nuclear Blast; Beast Album Due This Year, Teaser Video Posted

DESPISED ICON Sign To Nuclear Blast; Beast Album Due This Year, Teaser Video Posted

Nuclear Blast has announced the signing of Montreal-based deathcore pioneers, Despised Icon.

For many extreme music fans, it may be hard to remember a time before Despised Icon, given the massive influence they’ve subsequently had on the genre. But when the group formed back in 2002 and released Consumed By Your Poison the same year, there was little intersection between the sounds of classic death metal and the brute force of hardcore. But Despised Icon were among the first to fully embrace the signatures of the traditional death metal formula combined with a relentless embrace of breakdowns, part of an emerging new sound.

Now Despised Icon have returned with their upcoming album entitled, Beast. The genre-defining band is fully reawakened, poised to recapture the crown with the monstrous and merciless might of their potent expression. Featuring the men responsible for most of the band’s now classic death metal catalog, Beast is a vicious commentary on the state of the world and the state of music itself.

"It's been 7 years since our last record and our batteries are fully recharged," comments the band. "The O.G. lineup is back and the new shit hits hard. You'll hear sounds of our older slammin' death metal days blended with the speed and technicality of our latest records. Cheers to everyone that has stood by us after all these years. Can't wait to unleash the Beast."

Adds Nuclear Blast head of retail Roy Culver: "I signed Despised Icon to Century Media back in 2004 after hearing their debut record Consumed By Your Poison. The band perfected the mix of ferocious, technical death metal with a modern take on hardcore and their first record for the label, The Healing Process, broadened the minds of a whole new generation of metal heads. I love these guys and couldn’t be happier to be working with them again here at Nuclear Blast. The Icon is back!"

Check out the album teaser for Beast below. The album is tentatively scheduled for a summer 2016 release. More info to follow soon.

Despised Icon’s live itinerary can be found here.

South Wales Death Metallers VENOM PRISON Sign With PROSTHETIC RECORDS

South Wales Death Metallers VENOM PRISON Sign With PROSTHETIC RECORDS

Prosthetic Records has announced the signing of South Wales, U.K. death metallers VENOM PRISON.

Having first pummeled the jugular of the underground with their self-released demo "Defy The Tyrant" in 2015, the quintet spread their crushing grooves gigging throughout the U.K. while also releasing "The Primal Chaos" seven-inch single. Depicted as "a buzz that began as a whisper now as incessant as a swarm of wasps inches from your eardrum" (Ghost Cult), VENOM PRISON is now gearing up to unleash its debut LP on Prosthetic.

Having previously shared the stage with such bands as HATEBREED, ANAAL NATHRAKH, FULL OF HELL, DRAGGED INTO SUNLIGHT, THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER and BETWEEN THE BURIED AND ME, VENOM PRISON delivers grinding death metal that makes most landslides look lightweight. With plans to cover yet more ground and festivals throughout 2016, the band is razor sharp and ready to sink its teeth in. Get ready for a serving of "ferocious, grinding death metal savagery" (No Clean Singing) and come witness VENOM PRISON live at one of their upcoming appearances.

KVELERTAK: New Song 'Berserkr' Available For Streaming

"Berserkr", a brand new song from Norwegian rockers KVELERTAK, can be streamed below. The track is taken from the band's third album, "Nattesferd", which will be released on May 13 via Roadrunner. The follow-up to 2013's "Meir" was recorded live at Amper Tone Studio in Oslo, Norway (KVELERTAK's first effort to be recorded in the group's homeland) and was produced by the band and mixed/engineered by Nick Terry (LINDSTRØM, TURBONEGRO, THE LIBERTINES).

Commented KVELERTAK frontman Erlend Hjelvik: "We are finally getting ready to release our third album, 'Nattesferd', on the world, and however cliché it may sound, I'm not afraid to say that this is our best one yet. It's an exquisite smorgasbord of riffs infused with everything between the best of classic rock and heavy metal. I'm certain it will blow the minds of both old and new fans."

KVELERTAK will embark on a North American tour this month with special guests TORCHE and WILD THRONE. MUTOID MAN will also appear on select dates. The trek kicks off April 12 at Portland, Maine's Port City Music Hall and will see KVELERTAK traversing west through early May.

Additionally, Stereogum placed the new LP at #36 on their "101 Most Anticipated Albums Of 2016" while Consequence Of Sound included it in their "20 Most Anticipated Metal Albums Of 2016" preview.

"Meir" topped the official chart in Norway. The CD, which sold 1,800 copies in the United States in its first week of release, was issued on March 26, 2013 via Roadrunner Records. It was produced by CONVERGE's Kurt Ballou and features cover artwork by John Dyer Baizley.

GLORIOR BELLI – “Lies-Strangled Skies” Track Streaming

GLORIOR BELLI – “Lies-Strangled Skies” Track Streaming

French avant-garde black metallers Glorior Belli are streaming a new song from their upcoming album Sundown (The Flock That Welcomes), which drops on May 6th via Agonia Records. The track is titled "Lies-Strangled Skies" and it is streaming below.

"The production is by far one of the best that Glorior Belli ever had”, comments the band. "Drums and bass are absolutely devilish and placed under the spotlight. Everything was recorded, mixed and mastered in our own studios, having an absolute control as usual over the sound. The guitar work overall will bring you back to the origins of Glorior Belli.”

"Conceptually wise, Sundown (The Flock That Welcomes) will smother you with darkness and light, both stuffed down your throat with the same rage that could be heard on Glorior Belli's ealier records. When the Night is coming down on you, will you find a way through the dark? A record for the very few of us who truly embrace the desire to break from the cosmic prison.”

Tracklisting:

“Lies-Strangled Skies”
“World So Spurious”
“Rebels In Disguise”
“Thrall Of Illusions”
“Sundown (The Flock That Welcomes)”
“Satanists Out of Cosmic Jail”
“Upheaval In Chaos Waters”
“We Whose Glory Was Despised”

- Gold gatefold LP (limited to 100 handnumbered copies)
- T-shirt in two different designs

Sundown (The Flock That Welcomes) is available for pre-orders here.

Steadily climbing the ladder of artistic development, the French band Glorior Belli has developed a very unique sound and image in the often stiff frames found within the black metal genre. While the band's last album Gators Rumble, Chaos Unfurls (2013) was a combination of southern stylistics and crushing heaviness, its upcoming successor Sundown (The Flock That Welcomes) will reveal a new chapter in this unusual relationship of genres, only this time, the emphasis is on the black metal side.

The band is led by Infestvvs (aka Billy Bayou), since its inception in Paris in 2002, who currently takes care of all instruments. He is endorsed by Randall Amplifiers and will be accompanied on stage by fellow Luciferian silhouettes known as "The Innominati".

AVULSED’s Cover Of BLACK SABBATH’s “Neon Knights” Streaming; Audio

AVULSED’s Cover Of BLACK SABBATH’s “Neon Knights” Streaming; Audio

Avulsed’s cover of Black Sabbath’s “Neon Knights”, taken from the Altar Of Disembowelment mini-CD, released in September 2015 through Xtreem Music, is streaming below:

To celebrate the 25th anniversary of Avulsed, the band decided to commit a very ambitious project which is no other than recording a double album including 18 of their best songs from all their albums, EP's and demos. Instead of just doing a dull compilation with original songs, the band wants to do a "no fillers, just killers" release showing the evolution that the songs have suffered during all these years where the band's sound has been getting heavier and songs have got slight mutations through the times.

This double album (80 min.) will be released in a deluxe double CD digipack with slipcase and a thick 40 pages booklet containing the original versions on disc #2 (just for the freaks who hate rerecordings), double gatefold 12"LP and double cassette with slipcase. But to make this release even more interesting, Avulsed will have very special guests from other bands singing in most of the songs. They are: Peter (Vader), Barney (Napalm Death), Tomas Lindberg (At The Gates), Sven (Aborted), Antti Boman (Demilich), Chris Reifert (Autopsy), Per Böder (God Macabre), Anton Reisenegger (Pentagram Chile), Kam Lee (ex-Massacre), Rogga Johansson (Paganizer), Mike Van Mastrigt (ex-Sinister), Ville Koskela (Purtenance), Will Rahmer (Mortician), Ludo (Supuration), Johan Jansson (Interment) and Paul Zavaleta (Deteriorot).

Title for this album will be Deathgeneration, since 25 years means a whole generation devoted to death metal, and cover artwork will be made, once again, by the awesome Juanjo Castellano who worked on the two latest Avulsed cover arts. Release date is autumn, right before the two very special 25th anniversary shows that Avulsed will offer in Madrid (November 19th) and Barcelona (November 26th). Support bands for the show in Madrid will be another Spanish death metal legend Aposento and newcomers Bizarre who will also open on the Barcelona show accompanied by another band which is confirmed, but we can't announce yet. An official live CD+DVD will be recorded & filmed in Madrid.

Deathgeneration" will come on a very limited black boxset with silver foiled logo, of which only 100 copies will be made containing the 2CD, 2LP and 2MC. This special cassette release can only be obtained on this boxset that will come with t-shirt, poster, signed photo card, sticker, patch, badge, guitar pick and other goodies. The 2CD, 2LP and t-shirt can be obtained separately or in bundles too. For this ambitious (and expensive) project, Avulsed will need the inestimable collaboration of its fans for which the band will release a Crowfunding campaign during the next months.

Recording sessions for Deathgeneration will start tomorrow (March 24th) with drums being recorded at Cadillac Blood Studios with Andy C. (Lord Of Black, Saratoga, Kaothic) on production and rest of stuff being recorded at La Casa del Ruido Studios with Daniel Blanco engineering for a later mixing at Overhead Studios by Raul Fournier "Furni" and final mastering again at Unisound Studios by Swedish mastermind Dan Swanö.

Regarding shows, except for only two shows scheduled in Spain in April 8th (Burgos) and 9th (Oviedo), Avulsed will restart in June with a tour in China, followed by a series of great festivals during summer in Germany (Protzen Open Air), Czech Republic (Obscene Extreme & Czech Deathfest) and two of Spain's biggest festivals (Leyendas & Resurrection) as well as a tour in South America during September.

MOS GENERATOR - Abyssinia Album Artwork, Tracklisting Revealed

MOS GENERATOR - Abyssinia Album Artwork, Tracklisting Revealed

US doom heavy stoner metal band, Mos Generator, have unveiled the cover artwork and tracklisting for their new full-length album, Abyssinia, scheduled for a July release via Listenable Records.

Tony Reed comments: “These new songs show major change and growth for the band, I wanted the cover to represent that as well. I knew it was going to be collage art style and in searching for an image that moved me I came across this untitled piece. Abyssinia is slang for "I'll be seeing you". Sometimes my brain feels like the image on the cover."

In 2014 the band released Electric Mountain Majesty on Listenable and played two prestigious festivals in Europe - Freak Valley Festival in Germany in May and the massive Hellfest in June. 2015 brought in a new rhythm section and touring possibilities far beyond the limitations of the original lineup. This new lineup has taken the music of Mos Generator all over the US and Europe more than once. 2016 is already looking like it’s going to top ‘15.

Tracklisting:

“Strangest Times”
“You've Got A Right”
“Catspaw”
“Easy Evil”
“Wicked Willow”
“As Above So Below”
“Red Canyons”
“There's No Return From Nowhere”
“Time & Other Thieves”
“Outlander”

JORN LANDE Covers DEEP PURPLE, BLACK SABBATH, IRON MAIDEN On

JORN LANDE Covers DEEP PURPLE, BLACK SABBATH, IRON MAIDEN On 'Heavy Rock Radio' Album

Frontiers Music Srl will release JORN's new album, "Heavy Rock Radio", on June 3.

One of the greatest rock singers of our time, Jorn Lande returns with a unique album of covers of classics from artists and bands that have meant something special to him, and helped forge this talented man's own unique style.

Through Jorn's extensive career, which includes more than 40 albums of mostly original songs, he has also recorded great versions of several rock classics such as THIN LIZZY's "Are You Ready", UFO's "On And On", DEEP PURPLE's "Perfect Strangers", and many more. Jorn also recorded a successful Ronnie James Dio tribute album, released in 2010. Every song JORN covers is treated with the utmost respect and "Jorn-ized" accordingly. A good example is his heavy sounding version of "I Walk Alone", first released by Tarja Turunen (ex-NIGHTWISH).

"Heavy Rock Radio" is not an ordinary album of cover songs; it is truly a songbook of hits. Featured — among others — are great versions of the EAGLES' "Hotel California" and Kate Bush's "Running Up That Hill", which gets the Jorn style treatment to become very powerful and epic, without losing its commercial touch. More great classics included are John Farnham's "You're The Voice", QUEEN's "Killer Queen", and two absolute melodic rock evergreen gems in JOURNEY's "Don't Stop Believin'" and FOREIGNER's "Rev On The Red Line".

The original concept of the album was to create a sort of jukebox of radio hits, but to avoid leaning too much on the pop side of rock, JORN decided to blend the track listing with a few more up tempo rock tracks as well, such as "The Final Frontier" by IRON MAIDEN ("probably the closest you get to anything commercial with IRON MAIDEN," says Jorn), "Live To Win" by Paul Stanley (a song which was also featured on the popular television series "South Park"), and a few hard rock classics show up as well from DEEP PURPLE ("Stormbringer"), DIO ("Rainbow In The Dark") and BLACK SABBATH ("Die Young") to complete the mix.

Jorn says: "The most important thing was to treat these songs with respect towards the original versions. My goal was always to think that the original artist would be honored and find my version relevant. At the same time, my intention was never to try to compete with the original song and artist, but make it a strong alternative version to enjoy. At the same time, it is a well-deserved homage to these artists and bands who influenced me strongly, and I have wanted to record these songs for quite some time but was always too busy writing and recording my own songs to make it happen. Originally, I had a list of 40-50 songs I wanted to do, but I had to strip it down to about 15 songs before deciding on the final tracklist. This means that there are some unfinished business musically, and I will most likely record more of these songs in the future."

Since releasing the critically acclaimed Dracula "Swing Of Death" album last year, Jorn has also been working on an album of brand new songs, which will be the follow-up to the 2013 JORN album "Traveller", to be released in early 2017.

Jorn's catalogue is getting too long to include in brief press statements, and his innovative and creative skills have led to him selling millions of albums worldwide and being a frequent entry on sales charts around the world, including Billboard. Worth a mention is his years with MASTERPLAN, with whom he recorded three albums. Claimed to be the biggest selling Norwegian musical export, since the pop band A-HA, Jorn continues his rock crusade, and there are no signs of him slowing down yet.
