The first KORN album was released on October 11, 1994. To celebrate the CD's 20th anniversary, the band is releasing a limited-edition 300-page hardcover book including photos from the archives paired with brand new notes and commentary from the members. From the stage to the dressing room to the recording studio, you'll have unlimited access to everything that went into the band's career so far.

Various pre-order packages for the book are available at this location. The book costs $50, with a signed version available for $100. There's also a package that includes the book and a litho print of KORN's self-titled album for $90.

KORN officially announced the details of a fall North American tour on which the band will perform its self-titled 1994 debut album in its entirety at every stop. The trek kicks off on October 1 in Chicago, winding down a month later on October 30 in Oakland.

Singer Jonathan Davis told The Pulse Of Radio not long ago how he thinks KORN has changed in the more than two decades since they recorded their debut. "When we did the first KORN record, the self-titled, we were kids, man. We were just crazy-ass kids, getting drunk every day, just making music, living a dream and it was just insanity. And which I loved — I don't regret it one bit. But now I think where we're at 20 years later, I think it's more about making music and impacting people's lives and helping people."

Guitarist James "Munky" Shaffer told Loudwire how it felt to revisit the material from the band's first album, saying: "You can tell we were just kids and we were developing, uncovering and polishing a sound that we didn’t know was going to take off so much."

KORN's self-titled debut went on to sell more than 10 million copies worldwide and featured the band's first classic, "Blind".

The album is credited with launching the nu-metal movement of the 1990s, setting the template for albums from bands like DEFTONES, LIMP BIZKIT, COAL CHAMBER and others.

Devin proposed to de Matteo during WHITESNAKE's July 25 concert at the Trump Taj Mahal Casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

The bassist recently told Heavy Metal Hill about how he landed the gig with WHITESNAKE: "I became a member of WHITESNAKE in 2010 while I was on tour with LYNCH MOB. Brian Tichy was the drummer and my good friend. He had already secured his position with WHITESNAKE and they were already talking to another bass player — a friend of ours. And it looked very promising for this bass player and I just assumed that he was going to be the guy. I was also working toward going out with Jason Bonham in the LED ZEPPELIN EXPERIENCE. I had two jobs going on, I was pretty happy with that, I never even imagined my name would be put in the hat with WHITESNAKE. Long story short, [WHITESNAKE singer] David Coverdale decided to keep looking for bass players and Brian had mentioned he was out and about with LYNCH MOB and David asked him who was on bass. Brian mentioned me, so I sent some video of me playing live and then one thing led to another and I found myself up in Tahoe auditioning for David live. Then he called me while I was in Seattle and asked if I wanted to join the band. That was a great day… I had three jobs, WHITESNAKE, LYNCH MOB and the LED ZEPPELIN EXPERIENCE with Jason [Bonham]."

Devin also talked about his interest in becoming a vocalist in his own right. He said: "I started singing late in life. I always new I had a tone and I could recognize my own vocal tone and I knew it was cool for rock and roll but I had chronic shyness, so it took me a long time to get to a place where I could go out in public and sing. I owe it mostly to David Coverdale — he really helped me and encouraged me to sing. Doug Aldrich and Brian Tichy and I had a band called STEAMROLLER, which was the first time I went out as a singing bass player… and that was trial by fire. You know, it's not like I'm playing with two guys from my hometown in some shitty little bar, I was with two class acts where there was bound to be a crowd and I had no idea about my voice. I had no idea how high I could go or how low I could go, I just knew I wanted to use it. Some shows were better than others, and it was all about finding my footing. You don't just show up and sound like Freddie Mercury, so that's all I've been doing — is just singing as often as I can. I also have an EP coming out this year where I do the singing."

Japanese rockers CROSSFAITH have unvelied a complex comic detailing the story of their new album "Xeno". The first page has just gone live and can be viewed at www.xenocomic.com. Over the course of this week, a page will be revealed every day at 3 p.m. GMT on the above link for five days culminating in the fifth and final page revealed on Friday. The comic was drawn by Liam Kelleher. CROSSFAITH's Kenta Koie comments: "Before we started writing, we made a blueprint for this album. Teru told us his working concepts were 'Life And Death' and ‘Metempsychosis', but when we started working with Josh [Wilbur, producer], Teru brought the idea of 'Xeno' to us. It means 'unknown' or 'alien' — which I thought is the perfect name to describe us!"

He continues: "One night, Teru and Kazu were working together at a motel and they showed me the title track, 'Xeno'. It blew my mind, so I started writing a story to match the fact there were so many different types of songs on the album. I created two characters — one guy who wants to destroy world, and a female cyberbrain both called Xeno. He can't stand to live in this world because he thinks humans have ruined it, and she wants to learn what it is to be human. She dives into his mind, and the story starts from there…"

"Xeno" has a story of hope, failure, love, betrayal and death woven into its fabric so skillfully it's impossible to tell where truth ends and fiction begins. It's both an escape from and examination of reality that reveals more and more truths the further it delves. "Everyone has a dark side," said Ken. "Everybody is so hypocritical. And everything — our world – is being completely fucked up by so many people, especially the government. It's easy to see what they do. So Xeno, the person, decides to do something big so he can hit reset and start again."

Japanese teenage girl pop metal band BABYMETAL joined electronic DJ and producer Skrillex Sunday night (September 20) at Ultra Japan — one of the premier electronic music festivals in the world — to perform the group's song "Gimme Chocolate!!" Professionally video footage of the collaboration can be seen below.

BABYMETAL signed with RAL/Sony Music Entertainment for the U.S. release of the band's 2014 critically acclaimed self-titled debut album. The C, which features two bonus tracks, was made available digitally on May 12 and physically on June 16.

"Babymetal" was released via earMUSIC in Germany, Sweden, Finland and Spain on May 29, in the United Kingdom, Belgium, Holland, Poland, Switzerland, Norway and Denmark on June 1, and in Italy on June 2

The European release was made available as the standard edition as well as a deluxe edition that includes a bonus DVD compiling six music videos from BABYMETAL.

TJ of the "Do You Know Jack?" radio show conducted an interview with ARCH ENEMY guitarist Michael Amott at this year's edition of the Heavy Montreal festival in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. On ARCH ENEMY's plans to write and record the follow-up to 2014's "War Eternal":

"I think we're probably gonna write and record something next year, so it'll probably be 2017 when we put out a new record, realistically. We're a very fortunate band. We have a worldwide fanbase where we can go out and tour for two years, pretty much, all around the world successfully when we put out a new album. So it's a big job. It takes us a while to get around the world and play to everybody that wants to see us. So it takes time between albums."

On whether new ARCH ENEMY guitairst guitarist Jeff Loomis (ex-NEVERMORE) will appear on the band's next studio album:

"I hope so. That's what we're talking about. That's what we both want. So let's see. That's what we want. But, you know, it's still a ways away. We're gonna do that next year. But hopefully that's what's gonna happen. That's what we want."

On how his involvement with other projects and bands, like CARCASS and SPIRITUAL BEGGARS, have affected his role in ARCH ENEMY:

"I think everyting that I've done in my life musically has led me up to this point, where I am today as a musician and a songwriter. So it's all been great experiences. And even if they've been bad experiences from time to time, I've learned something from that. But all in all, it's been a very, very positive journey in music, and I'm very fortunate to be able to do this for so long for a living. And I've had a great life doing music — life full of music."

On the departure of longtime ARCH ENEMY singer Angela Gossow:

"I've said it in many interviews, but she just kind of felt, after wrapping up the 'Khaos Legions' tour in 2011-2012, she informed us that she felt that she was really done with it and really wanted to start the next chapter of her life. And when somebody feels that way, you can't really tell them, 'No, you have to stay.' You know what I mean? We're all individuals just living our own lives and going through life in our own way. And we're perfectly fine with that."

"We Rock", the new video from METAL ALLEGIANCE — the all-star metal band consisting of a rotating cast of musicians, including members of MEGADETH, TESTAMENT — can be seen below. MOTOR SISTER came together in 2013 when Ian, Aday, Tempesta, Vera and Wilson joined forces to perform MOTHER SUPERIOR's music at a show in Ian's house as the guitarist's birthday present to himself.

"I wanted to cherry-pick a set list of my favorite MOTHER SUPERIOR songs and get these guys together and have the concert at my house," Ian says of the event that eventually led to an album. Enthralled at the idea of making a record of his favorite MOTHER SUPERIOR songs, Ian e-mailed producer Jay Ruston (ANTHRAX, STEEL PANTHER) and asked if he thought it was possible to recapture the same spontaneous energy MOTOR SISTER generated at their makeshift gig, and if an album could be recorded quickly. "He said, 'Yeah, we can make the record in two days and we can make it sound really good.' So that's what we did," Ian says. "A week and a half later, we made the record in L.A. over a two-day period. We recorded the whole thing live in the studio and the set-up was at my house."

He continues: "Jim was totally into the idea. Pearl was a huge MOTHER SUPERIOR fan from way back and was in. I asked my good friends Joey Vera and John Tempesta to be a part of it because I knew they were both big fans as well and with no hesitation they said, 'We're in.'" Wilson, too, was stoked by the opportunity to dust off some songs he hadn't played since his L.A. rock trio broke up in the early 2000s after releasing eight albums and playing as Henry Rollins' backing band. "I definitely didn't need any arm-twisting," he says. "I was totally flattered and thought it was a great idea. I figured it would be fun and it was a great opportunity for a new chapter to be established in order to move forward." METALLICA has reportedly been working on its tenth studio album, which will follow up 2008's "Death Magnetic".

Drummer Lars Ulrich told Rolling Stone magazine that the band doesn't want to record in a way that feels "labored over and overthought."

METALLICA has spent a lot of time outside the studio in the last year, with activities that included a string of European all-request shows last summer, a week-long residency on "The Late Show With Craig Ferguson", and a Rock In Rio USA stint.

METALLICA has not revealed when it plans to begin recording or tentatively release the new album.

DROWNING POOL recently inked a worldwide deal with eOne Music. The band has spent time in the studio with renowned producer Jason Suecof (AUGUST BURNS RED, DEICIDE, DEATH ANGEL) working on its as-yet-untitled follow-up to 2013's "Resilience" for an early 2016 release.

DROWNING POOL earlier in the year embarked on the second leg of its "Sinner Unlucky 13th Anniversary Tour", on which the band played its 2001 debut album, "Sinner", from start to finish.

The "Sinner" album arrived in June 2001 and featured the monster single "Bodies", plus follow-up rock radio hits "Sinner" and "Tear Away".

Original DROWNING POOL frontman Dave Williams, who sang on "Sinner", passed away from heart disease on the band's tour bus in August 2002, while the group was out promoting the record.

In January 2004, the band announced the addition of singer Jason "Gong" Jones. Their sophomore effort, "Desensitized", followed several months later. In 2006, Ryan McCombs assumed the vocal duties, and a year later they released "Full Circle", followed by a self-titled album in 2010. McCombs, the only singer to ever record more than one album with the group, departed the following year, and was replaced by SUICIDE HOOK vocalist Jasen Moreno, who made his official debut on "Resilience".

Canadian metal act KITTIE will release a career-spanning documentary next year. The trailer for the film will premiere on Friday September 25 at 9 p.m. in London, Ontario, Canada at the historic Hyland Cinema (240 Wharncliffe Rd S, London, ON N6J 2L4, Canada) in conjunction with the Canadian premiere of "Nintendo Quest: The Most Unofficial And Unauthorized Nintendo Documentary Ever!" as part of the London Comic Con convention. The trailer will appear online after the screening on the band's Facebook page.

The film aims to deliver a certain perspective to the band's unique audience. The film contains footage from all eras of the band, features a number of band members both past and present. It's rare that a band takes the time to catalog their entire career on video, but that's exactly what KITTIE did and it's another reason this film will be special. You will see the evolution of the band, and their music on screen.

KITTIE last year raised $40,000 via a crowd funding campaign for the documentary.

In addition to paying for the production costs of the 20th-anniversary documentary DVD, the Indiegogo campaign will help fund a tell-all book that "digs deep to give [the fans] the story behind the music." KITTIE is working on the official band biography with Mark Eglinton, an author, journalist and film-producer currently based in Edinburgh, Scotland who co-authored former PANTERA/DOWN and current KILL DEVIL HILL bassist Rex Brown's memoir, "Official Truth, 101 Proof: The Inside Story Of Pantera", and whose first book, titled "James Hetfield: The Wolf At Metallica's Door", was published in April 2010.

The project will feature contributions from all of KITTIE's current and former members, including Talena Atfield, Lisa Marx, Jennifer Arroyo and Ivana Vujic. "That's what makes it outstanding for the fans, because we have had a tumultuous time in terms of (changing) some band members and we've had some bad blood with people," Lander said. "But I feel like time heals all (wounds) and we were able to put a lot of those things aside in order to celebrate the time we did have in the band together."

SLAYER's "Repentless" debuted at No. 4 on The Billboard 200, having shifted 50,000 equivalent album units in the week ending September 17.

The Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular albums of the week based on multi-metric consumption, which includes traditional album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA).

In terms of pure album sales, "Repentless" opened with 49,000 copies, marking SLAYER's highest-charting album yet.

SLAYER's previous album, "World Painted Blood", registered a first-week tally of 41,000 to land at No. 12.

The band's 2006 CD, "Christ Illusion", premiered with more than 62,000 units to enter the chart at No. 5.

SLAYER reached No. 8 with its 1994 release "Divine Intervention" after moving 93,000 copies of that album in its first week.

SLAYER's 2001 album, "God Hates Us All", opened with 51,000 copies to debut at No. 28, while 1998's "Diabolus In Musica" sold 46,000 units in its first week, landing at No. 31.

"Repentless" was released on September 11 via Nuclear Blast. The follow-up to 2009's critically acclaimed, Grammy-nominated "World Painted Blood" was produced by Terry Date, who has previously worked with PANTERA, DEFTONES and SOUNDGARDEN.

The artwork was created by Brazilian artist Marcelo Vasco in collaboration with the band's Tom Araya and Kerry King.

BRING ME THE HORIZON's last album, 2013's "Sempiternal""That's The Spirit" was recorded this spring in Santorini, Greece at Black Rock Studios, which the band discovered by Googling "world's most amazing studios." The CD was mixed in London, mastered in New York and produced by the band's Oli Sykes and Jordan Fish. "That's The Spirit" marks a change in sound for the British group. The disc also has a concept behind it, which frontman Oliver Sykes explained via a post aimed at social media.

Sykes wrote: "The shadow describes the part of the psyche that an individual would rather not acknowledge. It contains the denied parts of the self. Since the self contains these aspects, they surface in one way or another. The greatest power comes from having accepted your shadow parts and integrated them as components of your Self."

He continued: "This album is a celebration of the darkness, because everything may seem bleak and black on the outside, but inside us all is a world of color and emotion that we NEED to let take over and not ignore, and that's the long-winded explanation for the album concept and the artwork." Sykes also posted a video to Instagram that reveals the album's CD packaging inside and out. Former Dio guitarist Tracy G has completed work with his band Tracy G Group on a new six song EP, This Device. It is now available via his official online store here. The EP features Mike Beatty on vocals, Randy Oveido on bass, Adrian Aguilar on drums, with Korn drummer Ray Luzier performing on two tracks.

Chicago based extreme metal band Against The Plagues  will enter Belle City Studio in Kenosha, Wisconsin on September 21 to begin recording their new album, for a fall/winter 2015 release via Dutch label Non Serviam Records. The CD will once again be produced by Chris Wisco (Broken Hope, Lazarus A.D., Jungle Rot, Origin, Gorgasm).

Says the band: "For the past few years we've been working hard to consolidate our lineup, played as many gigs as we could, we improved our stage production, and finally we found the right label to support our long awaited release. This is going to be our second full length album since Decoding The Mainframe and we are super excited to work with Chris Wisco again as he was involved in all previous Against The Plagues productions.

We decided to record several new songs and also re-record older tracks from our EP Quaternion which was released independently back in 2012. We would love to expose our best songs on this album and since Quaternion was never unleashed through an official label we were under the impression we need to put new-updated versions of them on our upcoming release. 

“Back in January we released a two song EP Extermination Event as a promo/appetizer for a full length album. Now, finally, the time has come to unify all the best music Against The Plagues created since the first release and come back stronger than ever with the ultimate album.”

October 16th marks the release of Out Of The Past, the first of three releases from legendary German death metal visionaries, Dark Millennium. Out Of The Past includes Dark Millennium’s two demo releases, The Apocryphal Wisdom (1991) and Of Sceptre Their Ashes May Be (1992).

Although Dark Millennium doubtlessly was influenced by the likes of Death, Carcass and Morbid Angel, the band’s intention was to create death metal off the beaten track. Their first two demo recordings already showed the direction of the journey. Rather than copying the sound of the big names at that time, musical mastermind Hilton Theissen focused more on complex song structures and diversified instrumentation. “Out Of The Past” offers ten songs of highly innovative and gripping death metal, sophisticated and diverse as well as dark and deathly.

All tracks on Out Of The Past have been carefully remastered from their original source by Patrick W. Engel at Temple Of Disharmony, who known for his excellent mastering skills for bands as Morgoth, Grave, Tiamat, Dissection and many more. He joined Andy Brings (lead vocals, guitar) and Markus Herzog (drums) in 2014 days before the tour with Sebastian Bach (the original voice of Skid Row), replacing Aurora Steffens. German rockers 21Octayne - featuring vocalist Hagen Grohe (The Joe Perry Project), guitarist Marco Wriedt (ex-Axxis), and drummer Alex Landenburg (Rhapsody) - have released a video for the song "Where You Go", which can be viewed below.

“We are extremely happy how things were unfolding with the clip”, the band states. “Looking back, we were more than lucky that everything fell into place suddenly. When doing video clips, of course the result very much depends on the quality of actors - especially when you work with children - not to forget the director’s intuition and knowledge. With seven day of filming scheduled and a real, lively storyline it definitely was a risky undertaking. But now seeing the final result, we are totally blown away by 'When You Go'. How do you describe an enigma? In the case of The Great Discord, certain words come to the fore: Cinematic. Grandiose. Haunting. Soaring. Devastating. Unique. But still, it is perhaps impossible to paint a vivid picture of the Swedish unit, whose layered, textured music gets under the skin and is as likely to conjure exhilaration or a sense of poignancy in the listener as it is a profound and deep seated unease.

Today, September 18th, marks the release date for the Echoes EP. Echoes contains edited versions of two tracks that appear on The Great Discord's most recent full-length, Duende. The 5-track EP (released on Metal Blade Records) also contains an acoustic version of current single "The Aging Man" and cover versions of "Inertiatic E.S.P." by The Mars Volta and "Cherry Waves" by The Deftones. It is currently available via all major digital retailers.

The Great Discord explains: "The reason for this EP is to give you another glimpse into what we are as a musical collective, but in a slightly different musical costume. The title simply refers to the function of an alternative version, serving an an echo of something that already exists. Which, incidentally, is another concept tying this together. Tabula Rasa, and how we become who we are through interactions with others. And of course, since we love Pink Floyd we could not resist the name.

“The EP includes a very special and intimate version of "Aging Man", along with homages to the amazing Deftones, and The Mars Volta, two bands that have been a part of our lives for a very long time and inspired us immensely though their creativity and originality.

“The cover art for this release was made by our very own André Axell. The music was captured by us, and yet again mixed / mastered by the eminent Niels Nielsen at Secret Location Studio.

The Great Discord initially came about as a result of the relationship between lead singer Fia Kempe and drummer Aksel Holmgren. Although they'd known one another for many years and connected for many years, it was only when they came together to form The Great Discord in 2013 that their collaboration began. Sharing an interest in progressive music, they count the likes of Genesis and King Crimson as well as contemporary acts such as Meshuggah and The Dillinger Escape Plan among those who have inspired them. At the same time, individually they look up to a diverse array of musicians beyond the confines of this genre, which broaden the musical base they are working from, and from the start the duo were not interested in merely regurgitating their influences.
 
With a sound rooted in weighty, contorted metal with Kempe's formidable, beautiful vocals soaring above the mechanized tumult, they constantly shift between tones, moods and dynamics, and they simultaneously challenge and seduce the listener, eluding easy pigeonholing. "We both have very specific ways of writing and we complement each other very well. The first song we worked on came together in a day, and straight away we could see that we were onto something special," says Holmgren. Recruiting guitarists André Axell and Gustav Almberg alongside bassist Rasmus Carlson the band evolved into a fully-fledged entity, all of whom share the same passion and devotion.
 
While music pundits and critics will fall over themselves trying to label the unique and intriguing sounds of The Great Discord, the band members are more interested in presenting their music to the world, with the hope of making a profound musical connection with the likeminded.  

"We obviously want to take over the world," Kempe smiles. "We really believe in our vision, we really believe in the concept behind everything that we do. We want to entertain people. We want them to come to our shows and experience everything that we have visualized for this band, and we want them to relate to the emotion that we're putting into our songs, to be able to find something in The Great Discord that they cannot find anywhere else."

One Machine, the brainchild of acclaimed guitarist/songwriter Steve Smyth (Testament, Nevermore, Forbidden, Dragonlord, Vicious Rumors), release their second album, The Final Cull, today (September 18th) worldwide via Scarlet Records. A full album stream can be found below.

The Final Cull was tracked at Death Island Studios, with Marco Angioni and Tue Madsen helming. Recording lasted for nine days solid, as the band put in 15-18 hour days on this record.

The album art was illustrated by Gustavo Sazes (Gus G. Morbid Angel, Arch Enemy).
