DEATH: 'Spiritual Healing' Deluxe Reissue Due In NovemberThe next chapter in Relapse's DEATH reissue campaign is the landmark, genre-defining album "Spiritual Healing".
Originally released in 1990, "Spiritual Healing" marked a new turn in the DEATH discography, one which ushered in cleaner production, a new level of boundary pushing musicianship and songwriting skills that were previously unimaginable from a metal band. "Spiritual Healing" sets the standard for riffs, insane time changes and of course mainman Chuck Schuldiner's masterful guitar solos. Now reissued as a double CD housed in super deluxe packaging featuring brand new liner notes from DEATH players James Murphy and Terry Butler, Chuck's sister Beth Schuldiner and VOLBEAT frontman Michael Poulsen, Disc 1 features a completely new remaster of the original album and Disc 2 contains 16 previously unreleased rehearsal, outtakes and studio instrumentals.
In addition to the 2-disc edition, limited-edition (2000 machine-numbered copies) triple CD digipak will be available exclusively from Relapse.com. The third CD features a never-before-released live set recorded in 1990 featuring the "Spiritual Healing" DEATH lineup. An iTunes deluxe edition will also be released containing five additional previously unreleased pre-"Human" rehearsal tracks not available on either of the CD versions.
"Spiritual Healing" will be released on November 20 in North America, November 23 in Benelux, Germany and Finland, and November 26 in the rest of the world.
"Spiritual Healing" follows the recent Relapse Records reissues of DEATH classics "Individual Thought Patterns", "The Sound of Perseverance", "Human" and the live collection "Vivus!" plus Chuck Schuldiner projects MANTAS and CONTROL DENIED. Like those reissues, this collection will contain extensive liner notes from previous members and never-before-seen photos of the band.

SEBASTIAN BACH And Fiancée Call It QuitsFormer SKID ROW singer Sebastian Bach and model girlfriend Minnie Gupta have broken off their engagement. The couple began dating in 2010, shortly after Bach split up with Maria Bierk, his wife of 18 years with whom he had been coupled since before joining his former band.
In a message on Twitlonger.com, a related Twitter site that allows one to send tweets that require more than 140 characters, Sebastian wrote, "After almost two years together, Minnie Gupta and myself have decided to go our separate ways."
He added, "I will always be grateful for our time together and I will always have love in my heart for Minnie. I cannot thank her enough for her companionship, love, and inspiration... I wish Minnie nothing but the best in life, because that's what she deserves. She is a truly special girl and I am so very lucky to have known her. Until we meet again..."
Bach met Gupta during the making of his latest solo album, 2011's "Kicking & Screaming". He told Noisecreep last year: "If you saw how beautiful she is, it's just unbelievable. I was in love making this record. I was going through breaking up and I fell in love again and a lot of these emotions are on the record. Love. That's the most important thing in life really, as I get older — love."
Sebastian's video for the "Kicking & Screaming" title track, featuring an appearance by Gupta, can be seen below.
Bach and Maria Bierk have three children: sons Paris and London and daughter Sebastiana.

DON DOKKEN's Collaboration With MICHAEL SCHENKER: First Audio Preview AvailableDOKKEN singer Don Dokken offerered a short preview of his brand new collaboration with legendary guitarist Michael Schenker, a song called "Faith", during an appearance on today's (Monday, October 8) edition of the "Dropping The Needle" podcast. You can now watch the interview below. (Note: The Dokken/Schenker track can be heard starting at around the 16-minute, 30-second mark.)
According to Don, he has picked a select few cuts from Schenker's three instrumental acoustic albums "Thank You, Vol. 1", "2" and "3" and is currently laying down vocals over them.
In a recent interview with GlideMagazine.com, Don stated about his collaboration with Schenker, "It's going to be fun. He's a great guy and he put out a few acoustic CDs. I saw him last month in Bulgaria and he says, 'Don, we've always been talking about doing an acoustic record.' And I said, 'Yeah.' So he gave me a couple of his albums that are just instrumental and I said, 'Why don't I take them home and see if I can write lyrics and sing over the songs?' And it's coming out really great. It's not rock; it's a kind of chill record."
"Dropping The Needle" is hosted by Michael Brandvold from Michael Brandvold Marketing and Mitch Lafon from PureGrainAudio.com. It is described as "the podcast where all music from all genres is discussed. New releases, classic albums, rediscovered music, signed and unsigned. No ass-kissing, just two guys talking about music."

DRAGGED INTO SUNLIGHT: New Album Artwork UnveiledThe mesmerizing album artwork (see below) for "Widowmaker", the new album by U.K. extreme metal band DRAGGED INTO SUNLIGHT, was completed by Norwegian occult artist Sindre Foss, and its imagery creates the perfect foreshadowing of what you can expect to hear on their highly anticipated new release.
"Widowmaker", which is set for a November 6 release on CD and MP3 and a November 13 release on vinyl via Prosthetic Records, consists of three haunting tracks that combine into 40 minutes of pure aural debauchery. The album was produced by Tom Dring in three sesions spanning the past three years and has been described by the band as "complete misery, depression, and isolation" akin to "snapping the bones of the weak and crushing their shrunken skulls."
Much like their first album "Hatred of Mankind" — which Metal Hammer compared to "being smacked in the face with a truck full of demons" — the band has said the new release is "everything heavier and everything louder than everything else."

GODSMACK Frontman To Release 'Avalon' Box Set In NovemberSully Erna will release a very special limited-edition "Avalon" box set in November containing "some very cool items" as well as a DVD of the GODSMACK frontman performing songs from his debut solo album, "Avalon", on December 16, 2011 at The Wilbur Theatre in Boston, Massachusetts. Although the box set's official contents have not yet been revealed, it was previously reported that the set would include three DVDs (the show, the "Journey To Avalon" documentary and a behind-the-scenes documentary), two CDs, a book, T-shirt, guitar pick, poster, incense, etc., and a custom metal Sully Erna engraved metal box with a suede lining. Only 5,000 copies will be available.
A preview of the upcoming DVD is available below.
Go to www.sullyernaavalon.com and register today to receive more information on the "Avalon" box set.
The Pulse Of Radio asked Erna how he was able to balance his solo work with the demands of being in a band as big as GODSMACK. "The way I balance GODSMACK and anything I do on the side is just waiting for GODSMACK to have downtime," he said. "You know, I mean, I think as artists are, we constantly write music and just sometimes you recognize that some stuff works for your main band and then other things feel like something that's not gonna quite work for that band, but it's a great song and you may not want to throw it away, so you figure out where its home is."
"Avalon" was released in October 2010 and Erna supported it with a tour featuring an eight-piece musical backing group. The ambient, world music vibe of the record was a far cry from his usual hard-hitting material with GODSMACK.
GODSMACK kicked off the Rockstar Energy Uproar Festival tour with SHINEDOWN, STAIND and others on August 17 in Bonner Springs, Kansas, with Erna starting his first major tour since canceling a European run several weeks ago over throat issues.
GODSMACK will also be one of the headliners on the ShipRocked 2012 cruise this year, taking off from Fort Lauderdale, Florida in late November for five days.
GODSMACK's first-ever live album, "Live & Inspired", sold around 16,500 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 19 on The Billboard 200 chart.

METAL CHURCH Singer RONNY MUNROE Releases 'The Vision' Video"The Vision", the new video from METAL CHURCH vocalist Ronny Munroe, can be seen below. The clip was directed by Jill Lange Nesbitt and features an appearance by Ronny's daughter Tianna.
Musicians featured in the video:
Vocals - Ronny Munroe
Guitar 1 - Rick Van Zandt
Guitar 2 - Dennis Drake
Bass - George Hernandez
Drums - Bobby Nesbitt
Munroe's new solo album, "Lords Of The Edge", came out on October 18, 2011 via Rat Pak Records. The CD features the guitar mastery of Stu Marshall (EMPIRES OF EDEN), Chris Caffery (TRANS-SIBERIAN ORCHESTRA, SAVATAGE), and Michael Wilton (QUEENSRŸCHE) and is described in a press release as "a true metal offering that delivers an onslaught of fist-pumping, guitar-driven heavy metal."
"We wanted to create something that was totally new, but at the same time, true metal fans could hear everything that we were influenced by growing up in the classic metal era," said Ronny. "'Lords Of The Edge' sounds a little bit like what would happen if you put METAL CHURCH's 'Light In The Dark' CD into a blender with QUEENSRŸCHE's first EP and JUDAS PRIEST's 'Painkiller', then mixed it with some present-day themes and a shot of pure adrenaline."
The opening tracks, "Just Breathe" and "Full Circle", offer fast and furious guitar assaults with high-energy vocals, while tracks like "The Vision" and "Touched By A Demon" take on a more haunting melodic approach that set up the listener for the gritty, power-metal influenced tracks like "Let Them Feed" and "Rock And A Hard Place".
"Lords Of The Edge" track listing:
01. Just Breathe
02. Full Circle
03. Pierced By The Maiden
04. The Vision

SYSTEM DIVIDE: Official 'Ephemera' Lyric Video ReleasedThe official lyric video for "Ephemera", a brand new song from the extreme metal formation SYSTEM DIVIDE — featuring members of FEAR FACTORY and ABORTED — can be seen below. The track's release coincides with the start of the band's North American tour with EPICA, ALESTORM and INSOMNIUM. The single was mixed by producer Pete Rutcho (THE GHOST INSIDE, REVOCATION, BURY YOUR DEAD) and serves as teaser for SYSTEM DIVIDE's upcoming second full-length album, due out on Metal Blade Records in 2013.
Comments SYSTEM DIVIDE vocalist Sven De Caluwé: "We are extremely excited to get this out, having just completed the mix of the tune, it has been amazing to see Pete transform this into the mastodon it turned out to be. This is, without a doubt, the most epic and challenging material the band has EVER worked on just the tip of the iceberg in regards to what we have in store for the second album. I hope people will be as excited about it as we are, it has been a lot of hard work and we cannot wait to play the song live on our upcoming North American tour with EPICA! See you all out there to crush some skulls in the name of metaaaal!"
SYSTEM DIVIDE's tour with EPICA, ALESTORM and INSOMNIUM is scheduled to kick off on October 23 in Washington, D.C.
SYSTEM DIVIDE is:
Miri Milman: Vocals
Sven De Caluwe: Vocals
Mike Heller: Drums
Mendel Bij De Leij: Guitar
Andrei Aframov: Bass
SYSTEM DIVIDE's full-length debut, "The Conscious Sedation", was released on September 14, 2010 via Metal Blade Records. The CD was recorded at Conquistador studios in Cleveland, Ohio and was mixed and mastered by James Murphy (OBITUARY, TESTAMENT, DEATH).
Founded in summer 2008, SYSTEM DIVIDE set out to revolutionize the conventions of the over-saturated melodic death metal genre, proving that extreme metal can have more depth than blast beats, while female vocals do not have to conform to the precepts of the "goth" genre.

CAR BOMB: Entire New Album Available For Streaming"w^w^^w^w", the first full-length offering in five years from New York tech metal exhibitionists CAR BOMB, can be streamed in its entirety below. The independently released 12-track longplayer was recorded, produced, mixed, and mastered by the band between 2011 and 2012 at their own studios in Long Island and Brooklyn, produced by guitarist Greg Kubacki, and featuring guest vocals by Joseph Duplantier of GOJIRA on the track "Third Revelation".
Comments the band in a statement: "We're beyond excited to once and for all complete and release this thing. Every aspect of this recording — writing, recording, mixing, mastering, artwork, you name it — was done 100% by the band. It took as much time as most people spend going to college, but we think it was worth the wait."
Often referred to as "double-u click double-u" for short, "w^w^^w^w" is clearly CAR BOMB's most ambitious and diverse offering to date. Songs range from the 50 seconds of syncopated chaos that is "Auto-Named", and the catchy, mid-tempo "Lower The Blade", to the speed-metal-infused "The Seconds". Each track displays the typical chaotic timing that is signature CAR BOMB, yet expresses a clear thematic differentiation to make it its own.
Elaborates vocalist Michael Dafferner: "It's really easy when writing technical music to sound like you're just stringing random riffs together. Though we wanted to make a lot of sharp turns in each song, we really strove for each song to have its own distinct sound and mood."
Adds guitarist Greg Kubacki: "Most people will hear just random noise when listening to this record, but to us it's all really simple ideas. We're fascinated by the book 'Godel Escher Bach' by Douglas Hofstadter and we try to make music that is recursive. We try to establish certain themes and then shape and reuse them in different ways to create songs that have common threads within them. Patterns repeat, but not in ways you'd expect." This process creates songs that fans can grasp in one way but maybe can't grasp in another, and all the time they are swallowing you into a hypnotic and infinite vortex. The influence of M.C. Escher's (the "Escher" in Godel, Escher, Bach) is also evident in the "w^w^^w^w" cover artwork, which is simply a nauseating spiral of small repeated patterns.
CAR BOMB released its debut full-length, "Centralia", via Relapse Records in 2007. Called "esoteric and experimental," by About.com, the band followed the release with a gaggle of live performances as well as a split seven-inch single with BURNT BY THE SUN before going on an unofficial hiatus.
The digital release of "w^w^^w^w" (which reached the #2 spot on BandCamp's Top Sellers list this week) follows CAR BOMB's short-but-epic tour with GOJIRA this summer. CD and vinyl release dates will be announced in the coming weeks.

ARJEN LUCASSEN Working On New AYREON AlbumDutch guitarist/composer Arjen Lucassen has commenced work on a new AYREON album for a 2013 release.
A three-minute teaser clip for the forthcoming CD can be seen below.
AYREON's latest album, "01011001" (2008), sold 1,400 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 32 on the the Top New Artist Albums (Heatseekers) chart (which lists the best-selling albums by new and developing artists, defined as those who have never appeared in the Top 100 of The Billboard 200).
AYREON's 3CD + DVD compilation album entitled "Timeline" came out in November 2008. The set followed the thirteen-year evolution of the AYREON sound from the 1995 debut "The Final Experiment" to the release of "01011001". In addition to selecting tracks from the existing AYREON discography, Arjen also wrote and recorded a new AYREON song exclusively for "Timeline". Titled "Epilogue: The Memory Remains", this previously unreleased nine-plus-minute track introduced AYREON fans to the clear, powerful voice of Jasper Steverlinck (ARID).

T&N Featuring Three Quarters Of DOKKEN's Classic Lineup: Another Song Available For StreamingRat Pak Records has set an October 31 release date for "Slave To The Empire", the debut album from T&N (formerly TOOTH AND NAIL), the new project featuring current and former members of DOKKEN: George Lynch, Jeff Pilson (bass) and Mick Brown (drums).
"Slave To The Empire" contains eight new original songs and four re-recorded classic DOKKEN songs that feature sensational vocal performances by Tim "Ripper" Owens (YNGWIE MALMSTEEN, JUDAS PRIEST, ICED EARTH, DIO DISCIPLES), Doug Pinnick (KING'S X), Sebastian Bach (SKID ROW) and Robert Mason (WARRANT, LYNCH MOB). The drum tracks on the new, original compositions were laid down by Brian Tichy (WHITESNAKE, FOREIGNER).
"Slave To The Empire" track listing:
01. Slave To The Empire
02. Sweet Unknown
03. Tooth And Nail (feat. Doug Pinnick)
04. It's Not Love (feat. Robert Mason)
05. Rhythm Of The Soul
06. When Eagles Die
07. Into The Fire (Jeff Pilson)
08. Alone Again (feat. Sebastian Bach)
09. Mind Control
10. Kiss Of Death (feat. Tim "Ripper" Owens)
11. Jesus Train
12. Access Denied
The song "Slave To The Empire" is now available for streaming below (courtesy of Revolver magazine).
In a recent interview with Guitar International, Lynch stated about T&N, "We actually did two records. The first one, which will be released in September, and then the band will go out on the road at the beginning of October. We'll do a short West Coast tour, then play Loud Park festival in Japan as well as visit a few other Asian cities before heading to Europe for a couple weeks. Then it's back to the States and we will finish up before Christmas."
Earlier in the year, T&N was forced to shorten its name from TOOTH AND NAIL for legal reasons. The band stated, "We cannot keep [the name] as TOOTH AND NAIL as there is a label that has it trademarked. [Fans] can still call us TO$%H AND NA$L... We can't."
Regarding how T&N came together, Pilson said in an August 2011 interview, "The DOKKEN [original lineup] reunion has been scrapped, and I take a lot of the initial responsibility for that because of my schedule and commitment to FOREIGNER. . . Then George asked me about working with him on the next LYNCH MOB record — and I jumped at the chance. He and I started writing, got into a groove and wrote an album's worth of stuff, all with the intention of Oni [Logan, LYNCH MOB singer] writing lyrics and it being their next record. Brian Tichy laid down some incredible drums at his studio (and co-wrote some music on one track) and we had an incredibly strong start. Then Oni just wasn't feeling the music as being LYNCH MOB, so it was shelved. We figured it'd be the start of another LYNCH/PILSON record some day. Then, actually, it was Brian who had the idea that Mick, George and I should do a band, similar to what HEAVEN & HELL was to BLACK SABBATH, and call it TOOTH AND NAIL. Because of everything else we have going, it'll be just a recording project at first, but sure sounds fun. We'd record the classics keeping true to the originals but make them fresh and organic. Then the idea of doing new songs came up, and it grew from there."
He added, "I have absolute belief that the music George and I make together (along with Brian Tichy in this case) is real and inspired, and that's what it's really all about. So out of a mess of a reunion attempt, I think we'll end up with a really fabulous record, and what could be better than that?"
When asked if T&N is basically DOKKEN without Don, Pilson said, "Don is, and will always be, the singer of DOKKEN and an invaluable part of the DOKKEN chemistry. No one ever wants to take that away or dispute it one iota. But the three of us do have time tested amazing chemistry, and because we were writers on these songs, I feel we have a lot to express. If anything I think this will be a show of respect for Don, not some kind of competition. I only hope people enjoy it in the spirit for which it's intended . . . Don't think of this as DOKKEN without Don... that's misleading. Think of it as a band with great chemistry coming up with new music that excites them, and also paying tribute to DOKKEN — music which the members all are heavily invested in emotionally."

DOWN: Video Footage Of Entire Charlotte Concert AvailableVideo footage of DOWN's entire October 2 concert at Tremont Music Hall in Charlotte, North Carolina can be seen at Tyronehood.tv. The set included three songs from the band's recently released "Down IV Part I - The Purple EP": "Witchtripper", "Open Coffins" and "Misfortune Teller", footage of which is also available below.
"Down IV Part I - The Purple EP" sold 12,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 35 on The Billboard 200 chart.
"Down IV Part I - The Purple EP", DOWN's first in a series of four EPs to be released over the next few years (with a year between EPs), each touching on a different aspect of the band's sound, came out on September 18. It will be followed by the second collection of songs early next year, around the time of a planned U.S. tour. EPs three and four are scheduled for later in 2013.
"Down IV Part I - The Purple EP" heralds the sound of DOWN going back to its roots, with influences from BLACK SABBATH, SAINT VITUS and WITCHFINDER GENERAL.
The track listing for the effort is as follows:
01. Levitation
02. Witchtripper
03. Open Coffins
04. The Curse Is A Lie
05. This Work Is Timeless
06. Misfortune Teller
Lyrically, the EP goes beyond just personal experiences, and explores themes that include the faith of mankind, the imperfection of mankind and cultural belief systems.
"DOWN gives me the platform to be poetic and paint imagery with lyrics," said vocalist Philip Anselmo. "That's the approach I took. They complement the music and create an ominous feeling. Ultimately, when people consume the words, it's always their interpretation that matters. I could be image-conscious though when I wrote. It's not so gut level or street. The darker shit is some of my favorite."

HELLOWEEN new tracklisStraight to you from the headquarters: The new album will feature 13 mostly fast-paced songs – impressively multi-layered due to their different songwriters: Andi, Michael, Markus and Sascha.
Weikath: “STRAIGHT OUT OF HELL is the consequent development of the two albums before. The new songs are a continuation of the “7 Sinners” directives, only less doom-bound and noticeably more positive. These songs will kick even the laziest listener’s ass.” The best example of HELLOWEEN’s ability to think outside the box of metal cliché is the first single from STRAIGHT OUT OF HELL: “Nabataea”. The legendary kingdom and its secret capital Petra – hidden behind cliff scenery and only discovered at the beginning of the 20th century – are the origin of many myths and legends. “Nabataea” is the perfect shape of great music to come and will deliver an epic video clip, yet to be shot. Apart from the standard album, there will be a limited edition featuring premium packaging and two bonus tracks: “Another Shot of Life” and a Hammond version of “Burning Sun” in memory of Deep Purple’s recently deceased organ player Jon Lord.
