German "metal queen" Doro Pesch her band took part in an in-store signing session and live performance yesterday afternoon (Saturday, September 3) at the Best Buy in Fairless Hills, Pennsylvania. This was a free, all-ages event and was Doro's only Philadelphia-area appearance in 2011.

Artisan News recently conducted an interview with SLIPKNOT frontman Corey Taylor at the premiere of God Bless OZZY OSBOURNE. An Excerpt from the interview is below:

“The first thing that Ozzy ever said to me man, and this was insane and it came out of nowhere, was - I was sitting in catering with Sharon and Jack and all the kids and everything and we were sitting there and Ozzy came out. And I was like Oh My God - and he goes 'Slipknot! I want to be number 10!' And I went 'anytime you want!'”

Poland's Catholic Association Of Journalists (Katolickie Stowarzyszenie Dziennikarzy, or KSD) has released a statement protesting BEHEMOTH frontman Adam "Nergal" Darski's involvement with the Polish version of the hit American singing competition "The Voice", appropriately named "The Voice Of Poland".

"The participation of Adam Darski — a Satanist and outspoken enemy of Christian values — contradicts the missionary nature of Polish television," the statement reads.

In a recent interview with Terrorizer magazine, Nergal stated about his new television gig, "It's going to be fun. The first black metal judge ever in history doing a mainstream thing, you know? People are going to freak out! Some are going to love it, some are going to fucking hate it. But that's what this music has always been about, right? To provoke, to cause different opinions. The more extreme opinions, the better, I think."

He added of the attention he has received in his home country, "This so-called celebrity life is not my environment at all, but I am a part of it if I want it or not. So it's been crazy. Then the whole case with my sickness and me getting out alive [Nergal was diagnosed with leukemia in August 2010 and underwent a bone marrow transplant procedure in December. — Ed.], it just brought some extra attention to it. And there's definitely some people that want to make some money on it because it's a cool story for them to write about and stuff, but I was like, 'Okay, if they're going to make money, I want to have my share, too.' I was away from music and away from being active live for a good year, so yeah, I need to get something in return!"

It was previously reported in the Polish media that the producers of "The Voice Of Poland" were hoping that Nergal's presence on the program would attract a new audience as well as improve its chances of competing against rival television talent-show franchise "X Factor".

The American version of "The Voice" was a big hit for NBC and helped breathe new life into the careers of coaches Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, Christina Aguilera and Cee Lo Green.

Darski was found innocent last month of offending religious feelings in connection with a September 2007 incident when he reportedly called the Catholic Church "the most murderous cult on the planet" during the band's performance in Gdynia and tore up a copy of the Bible, calling it "a book of lies."

A Polish judge ruled on August 18 that Darski's ripping up of a Bible during a show was a form of artistic expression consistent with the style of his band.

Judge Krzysztof Wieckowski said he considered Darski's actions "a form of art." He added that the court had no intention of limiting freedom of expression or the right to criticize religion.

Legendary rocker Alice Cooper says that pop superstar Lady Gaga reminds him of himself. "[She] is the female Alice Cooper," he said. 'She totally gets it. She created a character named Lady Gaga and wrote songs for Lady Gaga, just as I write songs for Alice. But when you meet her offstage, she's nothing like that person… and neither am I."

Cooper previously praised the 25-year-old singer — who is said to be a fan of heavy metal and hard rock — saying: "She can sing, write and play piano — she's not just a costume queen ... you can be as outrageous as you want as long as you back it up with the music."

Cooper was photographed backstage at Lady Gaga's show on March 25 in Phoenix. The pop singer marked the occasion by smearing fake blood over her chest and posting on her Twitter profile, "I just died and went to hell" after the meeting.

"Fallen Angels", the new album from British black metal pioneers VENOM, has had its release date pushed back to the "Halloween period" (October/November) via Universal Music. The CD was mixed with producer Tom Belton at his London studio and will contain 13 new "classics." The band is also in the process of making a promotional video for one of the new songs, as well as finalizing live DVD footage.

Remastering' is just the cleaning up and making a new copy of the original stereo master - which usually results in a clearer and more sparkling listening experience than the original, when CDs were usually just the vinyl master copied straight to the then new CD medium. These days, with digital audio, we can afford to get more dynamic range and frequency response compared to the vinyl album and (God forbid) cassette versions of old.

BLACK COUNTRY COMMUNION initially came to fruition when producer Kevin Shirley saw Hughes and Bonamassa join forces on stage in Los Angeles in November 2009 for an explosive performance at Guitar Center's King of the Blues event. Shirley then recruited Bonham and Sherinian for the project, which is named after the industrial area in the British Midlands where both Hughes and Bonham were born and raised.

AVA INFERI, the Portugal-based band whose lineup includes Norwegian guitarist Rune Eriksen (a.k.a. ex-MAYHEM guitarist/songwriter Blasphemer), has announced the addition of drummer Sasha Horn (NOVEMBERS DOOM) to the group's ranks.

Commented Rune: "After having had some contact with Sasha over the last few years, I am now very happy we have come to this joint conclusion. The last of the lost keys has been recovered!

"I have for some time now wanted to strengthen the fundament of the band, to go deeper and to include some heavier and more powerful elements into the sound of our creations. I truly believe that Sasha possesses the necessary qualities to make this happen, and I am highly confident about the next steps in our path together."

Sasha had this to say about joining the band: "I was ecstatic beyond belief when this opportunity was brought to me, and needless to say, I jumped at the chance! I'm a huge fan of what AVA INFERI has created, and we anticipate wonderful things as a result of this new union."

The official "lyric video" for KORN's new single, "Get Up!", can be seen below. The song comes off the band's next studio effort, "The Path To Totality", which will arrive on November 15. As previously reported, the set is experimental in nature and features the heavy rock group collaborating with a number of dubstep DJs and producers, including Skrillex, Kill The Noise, Excision and 12th Planet. Other songs set to appear on the CD include "Burn The Obedient", "Illuminati", "Kill Mercy Within", "Narcissistic Cannibal" and "Chaos Lives In Everything".

September 5 would have been legendary frontman Freddie Mercury's 65th birthday. To mark the occasion, QUEEN will stream its historic 1986 concert "Queen Live At Wembley Stadium" for 48 hours on YouTube. The concert can be viewed at this location starting at 12:00 a.m. EST on September 5. This is the first time QUEEN has allowed an online stream of this watershed moment in the band's career. The concert captures the group's historic July 1986 two-night performance at London's Wembley Stadium, where they gave an electrifying performance to 150,000 frenzied fans. The footage features stunning live renditions of many of QUEEN's classic songs, including fan favorites such as "We Will Rock You", "We Are The Champions" and "Bohemian Rhapsody".

San Diego-based deathcore band CARNIFEX is in the studio recording its new album, "Until I Feel Nothing", for an October 25 release via Victory Records. Produced by Tim Lambesis (AS I LAY DYING), the follow-up to 2010's "Hell Chose Me" "captures an in-your-face extremity that drips with malice and ferocity, solidifying the effort as the most anticipated album of the year," according to a press release. The cover artwork was created by famed comic book illustrator Menton3 (Silent Hill, Monocyte) and can be seen below.

LINKIN PARK raised more than $350,000 for Japanese earthquake and tsunami relief efforts with a benefit concert for 1,100 fans on Wednesday night (August 31) at the Mayan Theater in Los Angeles. Frontman Chester Bennington told MTV News, "It's especially an honor to be able to give back to the Japanese community that's been so devastated and been so great in supporting us."

Fans at the show all raised $500 or more for relief efforts in order to win a pair of tickets to the secret concert through LINKIN PARK's Music For Relief charity.

Bennington told The Pulse Of Radio a while back that LINKIN PARK originally began Music For Relief to aid with rebuilding in Southeast Asia after the 2004 tsunami. "You know, we started Music For Relief, you know, after some pretty horrible natural disasters occurred and we felt that we were in a position where we could actually do something," he said. "I think that it's important to raise awareness."

Bennington explained why fundraising efforts this time involved a LINKIN PARK show, saying, "Unfortunately, there are natural disasters affecting so many places all over the earth that we're always asking our fans for money. We wanted to do something that was exciting for our fans and gave them something to look forward to, a goal that was beyond anything they'd done before."

The original goal was $250,000, which was exceeded by more than $100,000. Bennington said that the top fundraiser brought in more than $13,000.

LINKIN PARK will head to Japan and Singapore later this month and continues to work on a follow-up to last year's "A Thousand Suns" album.

One hundred percent of the proceeds from the online fundraising campaign will benefit Music For Relief's support of Save the Children in Japan to provide services, care and assistance to children affected by the March 11 earthquake and tsunami.

REDSCREAM, the new Stockholm, Sweden-based project featuring three members of the legendary Swedish death metal band GRAVE and American guitarist Ralph Santolla (OBITUARY, DEICIDE), has announced the addition of guitarist Mika Lagreen (FACEBREAKER, GRAVE) to the group's ranks.

Commented REDSCREAM: "Three guitars! LYNYRD SKYNYRD! IRON MAIDEN! Volume wars!

"We had intended to be a three-guitar band, with Mika, from the beginning. He was unavailable during our recent writing sessions in Stockholm, but now that he's gotten some things out of the way, he's ready to rage (again).

Described as "a cross between CANNIBAL CORPSE, SPASTIC INK, and a Bugs Bunny cartoon," "The Animation Of Entomology" takes Jarzombek's fascination with animated cartoons and creepy crawlies to a whole new level. Having experimented with writing complex pieces of music to sync up with movie sequences in the past with his previous outfit SPASTIC INK, the concept has now been applied to BLOTTED SCIENCE over the course of seven songs and a total of 24 minutes of music.

Says Jarzombek: "We wanted to follow up 'The Machinations Of Dementia' along some of the same lines of science and gore, and came up with a killer concept and some great material with yet another 12-tone writing system. I totally busted my ass syncing things up, carefully orchestrated music to film, bug movies actually, and nit-picked notes to death on this material until my fingers bled and my brain nearly exploded. How everything falls into place I think is beyond incredible! Whether this is the heaviest or most technical thing I've ever done, I don't really know or care, but no other band/project is pulling off what we are doing with this EP."

The folllow-up to the band's highly acclaimed 2007 "The Machinations Of Dementia" full-length album was produced and mixed by Ron Jarzombek and recorded in San Antonio, Texas; Tampa, Florida; and V. Santura's (OBSCURA, TRIPTYKON) Woodshed Studios in Landshut, Germany where the drums were cut. Mastering duties were once again handled by Jacob Hansen (VOLBEAT, DESTRUCTION) at Hansen Studios in Ribe, Denmark.

Italian dark metal outfit GRAVEWORM will release its new album, "Fragments Of Death", on October 21 via Nuclear Blast Records. The follow-up to 2009's "Diabolical Figures" was recorded in July at the Dream Sound Studios in Munich, Germany and was mastered by Jan Vacik. According to a press release, "The songs are about the death in its thousand faces, which is also reflected in the album title and cover art. Musically, the album can be seen as a mixture of the best of the last four records, with some old-school roots and definitive darker than its predecessors."

Commented vocalist Stefano Fiori: "For me, the cover artwork reflects exactly the lyrics. The album generally deals with the topic of death. So the fragments are pieces of the puzzle of death. Each one of the songs represents a way to die. For example, song 6 is about the happenings in Japan. Other songs are about war, which sadly still exists in this world these days. We're all influenced by all of these proceedings. Be it that you're confronted with them yourself, you know someone who is, or you see it in the media. The angel of death on the cover is made of pieces of the puzzle, the so-called elements of death."

Added cover artist Daniel Hofer: "When the band presented the new album's title and the contentual orientation to me, a concrete picture came to my mind quite quickly. An angel of death, rising from one dimension and returning to his former strength. The 'fragments' of this angel of death are both depicted as shards and pieces of a puzzle — this image can be found throughout the whole booklet.

"The basic idea for the cover can be transferred to the band's musical return to their roots and can be compared to the quite well-behaved angel that could be seen on the '(N)Utopia' cover who returns now as a cornuted messenger of death.

"After 'Diabolical Figures', it was a very nice and productive cooperation again and I'm happy that the band agreed on me as the designer once more."

The musical collaboration between Lou Reed and METALLICA, "Lulu", will be released on November 1 in North America via Warner Bros. Records and one day earlier (October 31) in the rest of the world through Universal Music. The CD was co-produced by Reed, METALLICA, Hal Willner — who has produced albums for Reed, Marianne Faithfull, and Laurie Anderson, among others — and Greg Fidelman. Fidelman also mixed the record.

Some of the tracks that are believed to have been recorded for the sophomore DARK NEW DAY CD include "Simple", "Hail Mary", "Fiend", "Outside" and "Vicious Thinking".

DARK NEW DAY released its debut album, "Twelve Year Silence", in June of 2005. The CD was mixed with producer/mixer Ben Grosse, who had previously worked with FILTER, FUEL, SEVENDUST and ALTER BRIDGE. The disc featured the single "Brother" (see video below).

DARK NEW DAY may have been new to fans of the bandmembers' previous groups, but it was really a reunion that was twelve years in the making, as the members of DARK NEW DAY literally grew up together. Brothers Clint and Corey Lowery and childhood friend Troy McLawhorn met singer Brett Hestla and drummer Will Hunt while touring as kids in the Southeast club circuit. "We were playing a circuit that had a lot of older people in it, in their twenties, and we were all kids, so we could identify with each other," said Hunt in a 2005 interview. "We really came into ourselves on that circuit," added Corey. "It was like going to rock 'n' roll high school — you'd always try and turn it up because you wanted to impress each other."

GOD FORBID recently inked a merchandising, publishing and recording deal with Victory Records. The band's new album is tentatively due in early 2012.

His stuff is very hook-oriented with a Scandinavian twinge.

"The stuff I've been writing has been varied from evil MORBID ANGEL, black metal shit to mid-tempo/power groove MACHINE HEAD-type stuff, and signature GOD FORBID material that is a logical progression from our previous albums."

GOD FORBID's last album, "Earthsblood", sold around 5,400 copies in the United States in its first week of release, according to Nielsen SoundScan, to land at position No. 110 on The Billboard 200 chart. The CD debuted at No. 2 on the Top New Artist Albums (Heatseekers) chart, which lists the best-selling albums by new and developing artists, defined as those who have never appeared in the Top 100 of The Billboard 200.

GOD FORBID's previous album, "IV: Constitution of Treason", entered The Billboard 200 chart at No. 119 in September 2005 after shifting 8,300 units.
