ATREYU Drummer/Vocalist Launches HELL OR HIGHWATERFor more than 15 years, Brandon Saller has put his blood, sweat, and tears into the Southern California metalcore outfit ATREYU. The seasoned drummer/vocalist has hammered out five studio LPs with four of his best friends, while traveling the globe and performing for legions of exuberant fans. Saller has lived the dream of every musician: to bring the rock 'n' roll to the hungry, fervent masses. And with HELL OR HIGHWATER, formerly known as THE BLACK CLOUD COLLECTIVE, Saller emerges from behind the drum kit, with the same unbridled passion, to ignite the next rock 'n' roll firestorm. The five-piece band will self-release "Begin Again" on August 9. To support the release, the band will take the stage touring on the Uproar festival kicking off in August.
HELL OR HIGHWATER has been brewing for a little over a year and a half, as Saller's songwriting drew inspiration from classic rock, doo-wop, punk and pop. Once armed with a solid collection of tunes, he unleashed his newfound vigor in a slew of gigs prior to the New Year, and it felt totally natural. When ATREYU announced their hiatus in January, Saller felt the timing was spot on to bring HELL OR HIGHWATER to the forefront.
"THE BLACK CLOUD COLLECTIVE was just a name. We felt that it didn't speak to, or represent the five of us. HELL OR HIGHWATER spoke to who we are as a band. HELL OR HIGHWATER is who we are," says Saller.
HELL OR HIGHWATER lineup came together through word of mouth and via good old-fashioned tryouts. Each member had crossed paths throughout their respective careers, but once guitarist Matt Pauling (THE CONFESSION), guitarist Neal Tiemann (MWK, DAVID COOK), bassist Joey Bradford (THIEVES AND LIARS), and drummer Kyle Peek (MWK, DAVID COOK) synced up with Saller, things just clicked.
"I was lucky enough to find, in my opinion, some of the greatest musicians I could have ever found," Saller says. "The music has energized all of us to the point where we're foaming at the mouth. This music makes me want to body slam someone and run a mile, while waving an American flag!"
In addition to the upcoming release of "Begin Again" and the Uproar festival tour, Saller recorded a cover of "Night Life" with Billy Martin of GOOD CHARLOTTE for the soundtrack of the upcoming "The Muppets" movie. Due on August 23 at Starbucks worldwide, the soundtrack also features industry heavyweights like OK GO, THE FRAY, ANDREW BIRD, WEEZER, HAYLEY WILLIAMS, MY MORNING JACKET, ALKALINE TRIO and more.

GRAVE Signs New Worldwide Deal With CENTURY MEDIA RECORDS Swedish death metallers GRAVE have inked a new deal with Century Media Records.
Jens Prueter, Head of A&R Century Media Europe, comments on GRAVE's return: "First time I saw GRAVE was in May 1992 when my friend Robert Kampf (founder of Century Media) asked me if I wanted to get tattooed by Vinny Daze (R.I.P.) from DEMOLITION HAMMER, who was in town with MASSACRE and GRAVE. I went to the show with the intention to get my first tattoo but was blown away by GRAVE's pure death metal blast and ended up being way too drunk to still get inked later that night. I never tried to get tattooed again, but I stuck to GRAVE and I'm more than glad to welcome back Ola and his 'new' guys to Century Media."
Adds Lindgren: "We are very happy and psyched to announce that we have signed back to our old trusty workhorse Century Media Records! After some while of negotiations and a meeting in Dortmund, Germany the week before we played Death Feast open-air [festival], we finally sealed the new deal. The future plan is to have a new GRAVE studio album out in 2012 and we will start putting the pieces together for that this fall, after the headlining tour of North America. We are truly looking forward to working together again with some of our old friends as well as all the new staff in the Century Media offices worldwide!"

"Broken Jade" lyrics:
Steel, ocean winds
Fly to their kin
Smoke clouds the sky
Burns my black eyes
They come for me driven by unseen force
Through the thick smoke on a fateful course
Unseen am I, unmatched is my iron will
The smoke of gunfire growing even thicker still
They come for me
With unseen force
Through the thick smoke
Drawn by fate's course
Past lives return
Trapped within we burn
Longing returns
As my brothers burn
Lights of ancestors' eyes shine so bright in the dark
Guiding me knowingly toward my end
Steady hands carry me toward my perfect death
One last time I ask that you will defend
Cold comfort as I fall
Death coming for you all
Give my life for the sun
In fire existence undone
Past lives return
Propellers burn
Longing returns
As my brothers burn
Blades keep swirling around
Memories cannot be found
Lights of my true love's eyes shine so bright in the dark
Guiding me knowingly toward my end
Steady hands carry me toward my perfect death
One last time I ask that you will defend
Cold comfort as I fall
Death coming for you all
Give my life for the sun
In fire existence undone
Carry my soul on the winds of the sea
To darkened depths, I commend my body
Carry my soul on the winds of the sea
To mother island for all eternity (End of lyrics)

ANTERIOR: New Album Details RevealedU.K. modern metallers ANTERIOR will release their second album, "Echoes Of The Fallen", in Europe on August 29 and North America on September 13 via Metal Blade Records. The 10-track effort was recorded at Grindstone Studios with producer Scott Atkins.
Commented frontman Leon Kemp: "That's right! The new album is finally here and we cannot wait for you guys to hear it! We've been hard at it for the past few months with producer Scott Atkins at Grindstone Studios and I must say the tracks are sounding massive. I feel we've really found our sound on this album.
"It's been quite a while since our last release and we've matured a lot as a band, especially with the addition of some new members. We've managed to retain all the great aspects of our first album, 'This Age Of Silence', and improve on them. The songs are more concise than before and we've really worked on making each song as strong as it can possibly be. We haven't settled for anything less, and at times it's been tough working to the benchmark we set ourselves, but it's brought the best out in everyone and after hearing the finished product it's definitely been worth it.
"We've had a phenomenal reaction to some of the new tracks we've played live and we can't wait for this album to drop; we are sure you guys are gonna love it! And if you can't wait to hear some new songs, then get your asses to Sonisphere. We'll be ripping out a few new tunes for you guys!"
"Echoes Of The Fallen" track listing:
01. To Live Not Remain
02. Blood In The Throne Room
03. Tyranny
04. Of Gods And Men
05. By Horror Haunted
06. Echoes Of The Fallen
07. The Evangelist
08. Sleep Soundly No More
09. Venomous
10. Senora De Las Sombras

Singer WARREL DANE Says NEVERMORE \'Is Not Dead\', Focuses On SANCTUARYReunited '80s cult metal outfit SANCTUARY, which features in its ranks current NEVERMORE frontman Warrel Dane and bassist Jim Sheppard, is working on material for a new album which it hopes to begin recording later in the year. Dane calls the new SANCTUARY songs "monumental" and claims that guitarist Lenny Rutledge "is writing some amazing thrash [that is] gonna cut your brains in half."
Despite the fact that NEVERMORE guitar player Jeff Loomis and drummer Van Williams announced their departure from the group in April, Warrel insists that "NEVERMORE is not dead" but adds that "SANCTUARY is just the focus now, and oh, holy shit, when you hear [the new material], you will know why."
A "major SANCTUARY announcement" will be made in the next few days, according to Dane.

Bereits mit ihrem aktuellen Studioalbum ''We're Here Because We're Here'', das im letzten Jahr veröffentlicht wurde, konnten ANATHEMA Kritiker wie Fans gleichermaßen begeistern.
ANATHEMA wurden für ihr Studioalbum ''We're Here Because We're Here'' 2010 mit einem Classic Rock Prog Album Of The Year-Award ausgezeichnet.

MORTA SCULDKnown for its cheese, beer, and baseball team the Brewers, Milwaukee is also home (rather was home) to some of America’s finest death metal. Yeah, Tampa had its rightful place on the throne in the late ’80s/early ’90s, but the former French Canadian trading post had Dr. Shrinker, Phantasm, Accidental Suicide, and the mighty Morta Skuld. Perhaps the most visible of all Wisconsin death metal acts was Morta Skuld. With their down-tuned, catchy Midwestern death, the group caught the ears of UK cult indie Deaf/Peaceville Records, under which three full-lengths were released to moderate success.
Twenty-one years later, Relapse Records has compiled Morta Skuld’s two 1990 demos — Prolong the Agony and Gory Departure — in the form of Through The Eyes Of Death. Produced by Death manager Eric Greif and with artwork by Travis Smith, Through The Eyes Of Death is a fitting deathsong to Morta Skuld’s career. To celebrate Morta Skuld in the age of YouTube and viral videos, Relapse Records and director David Cook lensed a music video for “Prolong the Agony (Crucifix)”.
“‘Prolong the Agony’ was written 21 years ago,” explains Morta Skuld guitarist Dave Gregor. “When we started shooting the video, I felt a bit lost and as we went take after take the vibe started to come back to me, kinda like that adage about riding a bike. When we were writing this song I was really into everything must be evil stage. My drummer Jef Jaeger and I wrote the lyrics not to glorify crucifixion but to describe the act of what one would feel and what one would go through being subjected to that act. The entire second Morta Skuld demo Prolong the Agony was about what one would feel or experience going through these horrid things. Doug Cook had a great vision for the vid that was a realization of the lyrics.”

MEGADETH Bassist Says \'Most\' Of New Album Is \'Full-On, In-Your-Face Thrashing\' Martin Carlsson of Expressen TV conducted an interview with MEGADETH bassist David Ellefson prior to today's (Sunday, July 3) "Big Four" concert at Ullevi stadium in Gothenburg, Sweden. You can now watch the chat below. A few excerpts follow.
On the first show of the current "Big Four" European tour:
Ellefson: "Last night was awesome. We played in Germany. We sometimes do these big jams at the end of the METALLICA set. And it was cool, because they actually handed over some new songs for us, for everybody to learn. So we started with 'Am I Evil?' in Sofia when we filmed the live DVD last year, and we did that again in Indio, which was the first U.S. show that we played together. And so last night we actually did another song, called 'Helpless', which is another DIAMOND HEAD song. It wasn't specifically meant to be just a DIAMOND HEAD jam. But certainly for Dave [Mustaine, MEGADETH mainman], I know he was excited, 'cause he used to play that song with METALLICA back in the day when he was with them. So it was cool. There should be some other songs coming along now. So the jam is gonna continue, it looks like."
On how many songs were on the list of possible tracks they may perform with the other "Big Four" bands on the current tour:
Ellefson: "There was about… I guess there's five on there, five total, and I can't tell you which ones."
On whether all five of the songs have already been rehearsed:
Ellefson: "No. [Laughs] In fact, it's kind of funny, because the first one we did, we all got together in METALLICA's jam room and we rehearsed it, with 'Am I Evil?' But now that we've done it, everybody's like, 'Look, just hand us the song,' and everybody learns it. And we actually have a jam room set up as well in the MEGADETH room, so usually ANTHRAX comes over. And the SLAYER guys, the challenge is to get them to jam, 'cause they're not a very 'jammy' kind of band, by their own admission. But it’s fun. The ANTHRAX guys, they like to jam, they like to play. So hopefully we can start to rally… Actually, Kerry [King, SLAYER guitarist] jumped in [at the Indio concert]. Kerry and Dave Lombardo [SLAYER drummer] played. And I'm sure Gary Holt [EXODUS guitarist, who is currently filling in for SLAYER's Jeff Hanneman] would love to be involved. Gary is a great player."
On whether fans should believe SLAYER's excuse that they were "travelling" and couldn't make last night's "Big Four" jam:
Ellefson: "Yeah, you should believe that. They had already made their plans that they were gonna fly up here [to Sweden], I think, so they were all set to go right after their set, so they couldn't come. But we actually built all of our travel schedule around staying 'till the end of the night, so that we could be there for that. Because sometimes those jams have been impromptu; sometimes they happen, sometimes they don't. So we figured, 'You know, let's hang [and] be part of the whole thing.' 'Cause it really is a big event, isn't it? It's like a whole night out. So for us, we're hanging 'till the end regardless."
On whether "Big Four" should more appropriately be named "Big One And Three Small Ones":
Ellefson: "No, it is definitely not that. It is definitely the 'Big Four.' Obviously, METALLICA got very big very quickly in their career. To some degree, we're always considered the 'Big Four' by the fans… I don't know if a fan came up with that or if the media came up with that, but somebody coined that [term] and it wasn't us, it wasn't any of our bands. And for all these years later METALLICA to really stand behind that and embrace that is cool. We realized last year at the first show that we did in Poland that it was not METALLICA as a headliner with just three other bands on it; it's very much all four or us, hanging — a lot of hang time — people on stage watching each other, watching the bands play. So it's a full day out. . . And everybody changes up their setlist all the time, too. I don't think any of us played the exact same show two days in a row."
On Dave Mustaine's reluctance to perform the entire "Peace Sells... But Who's Buying?" album to celebrate its 25th anniversary because as a born-again Christian he is uncomfortable singing with lyrics to the songs "The Conjuring" and "Bad Omen":
Ellefson: "It's a pretty dark album. In fact, I've had a lot of people — my friends who have been fans of that album — say, "Every time I'd heard that album, it just felt dangerous and dark and scary.' And I think part of it's the tuning, and certainly part of it's the songs. So to go out and play that album top to bottom, it could happen, but I think at this point, there's various songs we could play. Like when we played last year, when we did [the] 'American Carnage' [tour with SLAYER and ANTHRAX], [METALLICA's] James [Hetfield] and Lars [Ulrich] actually came down to the Cow Palace show in San Francisco by where they live. And 'My Last Words' is one of Lars' favorite [MEGADETH] songs and so he asked about it. And as we were walking to the stage, Dave said, 'You know it? You know it? You know it? OK, let's put it in tonight.' So we actually just put it in the set and winged it. And it was a lot of fun to do that. So that might be more the way we go with it largely because there's this new album coming out now, and that is probably gonna take priority at this point."
On the upcoming MEGADETH album:
Ellefson: "Let's put it this way: It's funny that 20 years ago, we came off 'Rust In Peace' and we went in and made 'Countdown To Extinction'. So, to me, that's kind of what this album feels like. We did 'Sudden Death' [for a title in the 'Guitar Hero' franchise, 'Guitar Hero: Warriors Of Rock'] and then this new song, 'Never Dead', which is a very violent riff. That was the first song we did, and we finished it top to bottom because we had to get it into this video game called 'NeverDead'. So that's a pretty good indication of what the new record is gonna be. But it's a little wider than… That's why I liken it to probably a little more to 'Countdown To Extinction', 'cause there's a couple of songs that aren't just full-on, in-your-face thrashing. However, most of it is. So you guys are gonna be excited. You'll like it. You'll dig it. You'll have fun [listening to it]."

ALICE COOPER Performs With KE$HA In OsloLegendary rocker Alice Cooper joined pop singer Ke$Ha on stage earlier tonight (Tuesday, July 5) in Oslo, Norway to perform her dance version of Cooper's song "School's Out".
Cooper stopped by to say hello during Ke$ha's soundcheck this afternoon. The two decided to surprise her fans with the classic Alice Cooper track as one of her encore songs... with Alice himself at the helm.
Shortly after her gig was over, Ke$ha tweeted: "Thanx for coming to Oslo to do 'SCHOOLS OUT' with me dad... ; ) LEGEND. FUCKING LEGEND."
This wasn't the first time the two have shared the stage together; Ke$ha jumped on stage with Alice at his October 20, 2010 concert in Nashville, where she had her way with several of Alice's balloons.
Alice promised Ke$ha a cameo in his stage show, most likely involving one of his infamous killing machines, by tweeting "Thanks @keshasuxx! Next time our stage, and be sure to bring some bandaids..."

KAMPFAR Frontman To Write Book About Early Years Of Black MetalVocalist Dolk of Norwegian old-school black metallers KAMPFAR has released the following statement:
"This was not supposed to be revealed yet. But I decided to do so through [my] personal [online] profile. Even my bandmates don't know this yet. But I have now finally started my longtime plan to do/write a book. This has been an idea I had for ages now, due to all the questions I get from the 'media' about this theme/topic/period of time.
"I have been so tired, in a way, to tell parts of this story without being able to tell the whole story. So the book will be about the early years in black metal and about my side of the story of it all. This book will step on someone's toes, that's for sure. But it's my side of the story. This book is for those who are interested (and it's some sort of a soul and mind surfer for me personal). To the rest… Well, I don't give a fuck!! It's all very early in the process yet. But I have decided to go all the way now.
"Anyway… This has been a long process for me and a big step to make it official. Besides my woman, you are the first ones to know this at all."

ATOMKRAFT\'s Cover Version Of THIN LIZZY\'s \'Cold Sweat\': Promotional Video AvailableThe official video clip for the previously unreleased "metallized" cover version of the THIN LIZZY classic "Cold Sweat" from English metallers ATOMKRAFT, formed and led by vocalist/bassist Tony "Demolition" Dolan (VENOM), can be viewed below.
ATOMKRAFT's version of "Cold Sweat" will be made available on a new limited-edition seven-inch single and mini-CD later this summer via W.A.R. Productions.
* 7" EP limited to 200 copies only comes in colored vinyl + insert!
* MCD limited to 1000 copies only comes with two bonus tracks: 1985 ATOMKRAFT intro played at London, England's original Marquee club, opening for SLAYER on the "Hell Awaits" tour; and a previously unreleased song called "Gripped".
According to Joe Matera, who makes a guest appearance on lead guitar on "Cold Sweat", "This is a recording that was done around 2005 (I remember laying down my guitar solo around that time). It was going to be released back then but due to circumstances at the time, it got shelved."
THIN LIZZY guitarist Scott Gorham previously stated about ATOMKRAFT's version of "Cold Sweat", "I actually really liked this version of 'Cold Sweat' a lot. Cool solo also. I also liked the way ATOMKRAFT made the song their own with the arrangement and production. Very cool,"
