Due to "health issues," guitarist Chris Johnson has left HOLY RAGE, the U.K.-based band led by original JUDAS PRIEST frontman Al Atkins.

Commented the group: "Chris has appeared on three Al Atkins albums and has been friends with Al for many years. He also appears on all tracks on the new HOLY RAGE CD.

"Chris himself is fine and having treatment and still likes a beer, so he ain't that bad.

"Although Chris will no longer be playing for the foreseeable future, he will still be in charge of all band PR and the more technical side.

"We wish him well and a speedy recovery and [we are] sure we will go to a few bars soon."

"Rockpalast" is a world-renowned German television series that began airing in 1974 on the German television station Westdeutscher Rundfunk (WDR). Translated into English as "Rock Palace", the television series still airs today. Over the years countless artists and bands have appeared on the show and now MIG (Made In Germany Music) is pleased to present "UFO - Hard Rock Legends Vol. 1", a new CD/DVD featuring footage of UFO's November 29, 1980 concert at Westfalenhalle in Dortmund, Germany.

Santa Barbara, California metallers DEVILDRIVER have set "Beast" as the title of their fifth album, due on February 22, 2011 via Roadrunner Records. The CD was recorded at Sonic Ranch studios in Tornillo, Texas with producer Mark Lewis (TRIVIUM, CHIMAIRA, ALL THAT REMAINS) and is currently being mixed by acclaimed British producer Andy Sneap (MEGADETH, EXODUS, MACHINE HEAD, NEVERMORE, ARCH ENEMY) at his Backstage studio in Derbyshire, England. The band recorded 14 songs during the "Beast" sessions, with 11 or 12 tracks expected to make the final cut.

San Francisco Bay Area metal veterans VICIOUS RUMORS have inked a worldwide deal (excluding Japan) with SPV/Steamhammer. The band's new album, "Razorback Killer", will be released in March 2011. The 10-track CD was recorded at Trident Studios in Pacheco, California with producers Juan Urteaga and VICIOUS RUMORS mastermind/guitarist Geoff Thorpe. Songtitles set to appear on the album include "Razorback Blade" (see performance video below), "Deal with the Devil", "All I Want Is You", "Axe to Grind" and "Murderball".

MelodicRock Records has announced the release of the next title in the fledgling label’s line-up – Italian symphonic melodic metal band VIOLET SUN. Their debut album Loneliness In Supremacy will be released November 19, with pre-orders shipping November 12.

Violet Sun’s core goes back to 2005, when Dario Grillo (PLATENS, THY MAJESTY) heard the voice of Alessandra Amata, a singer of great talent of CATANIA, well known in the Sicilian musical circle. Dario had some interesting unpublished work that proposed to her. Alessandra immediately showed herself to be very enthusiastic about the project and so in a few months they began to work to the drawing up and the realization of the songs contained in the debut album. Loneliness In Supremacy is not a normal Metal album, but a real blended work in which the styles such as classic and opera music, heavy metal, oriental, progressive and AOR blend perfectly together to create powerful and memorable melodies. This record places itself midway between a real Metal Opera (AVANTASIA, AINA, NOSTRADAMUS) and bands as NIGHTWISH, EPICA, KAMELOT.

MelodicRock Records owner Andrew McNeice: "There is nothing harder in this scene than breaking in a new name, but just as my other signings have impressed, so to did Violet Sun. One listen and I called upon Dario to sign up. I wasn't looking for a heavier project to add to the label, but taking each release on its merits, this just screamed out for attention. The production is simply world class. Intense themes, immense arrangements and the power and emotion of the material appealed to me instantly. I am very happy to have such a strong group of artists involved in the label and Violet Sun only enhances that."

THE INIQUITY DESCENT, the new extreme-metal project featuring vocalist Mathias "Vreth" Lillmåns of Finnish folk metallers FINNTROLL, has set "Trust The Serpent" as the title of its debut EP. OZZY OSBOURNE has been confirmed for next year's edition of the Sweden Rock Festival, set to take place June 8-11, 2011 in Sölvesborg in southern Sweden. This will be the singer's first appearance at the event.

Ozzy's recent show at the Stockholm Globe Arena sold out completely soon after the tickets were released and was unanimously hailed by the press, proving Ozzy is as pivotal as ever to the world's rock and metal scene. As Ozzy himself puts it in an upcoming Sweden Rock Magazine cover story: "I would pay to see my fans. I love meeting them and making sure they have a good time."

OZZY OSBOURNE has been confirmed bands for next year's edition of the Wacken Open Air festival, set to take place August 4-6, 2011 in the small town of Wacken in Schleswig-Holstein, northern Germany. Also scheduled to appear are AIRBOURNE, BLIND GUARDIAN, APOCALYPTICA, SUICIDAL TENDENCIES, AVANTASIA and MAYHEM.

The release date for "The Covering", the much-anticipated covers album from Christian hard rockers STRYPER, has been pushed back to early 2011 from the previously announced October 13. The band states, "Originally, the album was projected to be released [via Big3 Records] in the fourth quarter of 2010. However, the business and label team feel that more set-up time will allow for a stronger release of this amazing recording."

Guitarist Johan Olsson has left the Swedish "pop/metal" band DEAD BY APRIL. He says in a statement, "We have had some differences and been going in different directions for a while and there's always a certain point you reach when you need to really decide if you can go forward together or not. So I have decided to leave DEAD BY APRIL to focus mainly on my own music and bands. Also give time to my other projects like my clothing company, Suckerpunch Clothing, as well as of course my family and friends.

"It is every kids dream to be a 'rock star' and you always have to balance the good against the bad.

"I genuinely love the lifestyle, touring, playing live, practicing and all that surrounds a rock band so I am in no way giving up on music or being a musician at all. You have not seen the last of me. On the contrary, it's an opportunity for me to take the path that I want and that is more important than anything else right now. So I won't be participating at all on the new album and I will also not participate in the U.K. tour.

"That's the way life is sometimes and people go separate ways but that doesn't mean I'm not proud of what we have done and accomplished in the years I have been in the band."

The remaining members of DEAD BY APRIL comment in a statement: "We are sad to see Johan leave and wish him all luck in the future. Johan leaving will not affect the U.K. tour we're on right now and it will not affect the upcoming album recordings."
