We are sad to announce that singer Rob Sowden has decided to part ways with the band. The explanation given so many times at moments like this is ‘musical differences’, usually as a veil for somewhat darker reasons; but actually, in this case, it is precisely the reason.

Arena thank Rob for his involvement and support for the last ten years and wish him all the best for the future.

In the meantime Arena WILL be performing their shows in November where they will be presenting their new vocalist, as well as material from their next album.

German extreme metallers DEATH OF DESIRE are streaming a sneak peak of their new album ANTIhuman on their official MySpace page - click here to listen to the "unmastered raw mixes - final result will destroy," says the band.

ANTIhuman was recorded at Iron Forge Studios by David Voll in Cincinnati, OH. The album is being produced by Steve Tucker (ex-MORBID ANGEL) and the intro was created by Attila Csihar (MAYHEM) under his VOID OF VOICES project.

SOUNDGARDEN released its first collection of music since 1996, "Telephantasm", on September 28 in the U.S. and September 27 internationally. This career-spanning retrospective album includes never-before-heard unreleased track "Black Rain", taken from the "Badmotorfinger" recording sessions.

The super deluxe collector's edition of "Telephantasm" is available for a limited time and will includes two CDs, the limited-edition DVD, three heavy vinyl discs, a collectible poster, lithos, and much more.

Additionally, fans get full access to the band's new album as downloadable content for Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock. The 12-song disc will then be available on October 5 at all music retail outlets and on the band's web site.

On September 28, A&M/UMe released three expanded versions of "Telephantasm" which include a double-disc with 12 additional tracks, five of which are previously unreleased, and SOUNDGARDEN's first-ever DVD, featuring 20 videos, 13 of which have never been released, a deluxe three-LP vinyl edition and an individually numbered super deluxe collector's edition. Montreal, Quebec, Canada-based band VENGEFUL will enter the studio on November 15 with producer Chris Donaldson (CRYPTOPSY, THE LAST FELONY, NEURAXIS) to begin recording its third album for an early 2011 release. Songtitles set to appear on the CD include "Delusional", "Malice", "Decay" and "Distant Exit". Vocalist Marc-André Grenier states, "If everything goes according to plan (that rarely happens), we intend to be done with the album in March and then we start looking for a label to help distribute it as soon as possible."

Maldives-based thrashers SERENITY DIES have parted ways with bassist/vocalist Chuck and guitarist Xiao due to personal reasons. According to a statement from the band, there is no ill will on either side and everyone remains close friends. Despite this, SERENITY DIES is fully committed to moving forward as a band and has announced that guitarist/vocalist Jared MacEachern (ex-SANCTITY) and bassist Addo (ex-FASYLIVE) have joined the fold. With this new lineup, SERENITY DIES is said to be "more powerful than ever" and is hard at work on the follow-up to its "Hacksawcracy" EP, which was released earlier this year.

Danish death metallers THE CLEANSING have set "Feeding The Inevitable" as the title of their second album for a tentative late 2010/early 2011 release. The nine-song CD was mixed starting at CB studios in Denmark with producer Christian Bonde. The mastering duties were handled by Bjørn Engelmann (BEHEMOTH, BLOODBATH) at the Cutting Room in Sweden. Remy C. from Headsplit Design is currently working on the artwork/cover and the band states, "We're pretty sure he will come up with something sick!"

Pomona, California thrashers BONDED BY BLOOD have parted ways with vocalist Jose Barrales and have replaced him with Mauro Gonzales (MUTANTS OF WAR).

Commented the band: "After five long years of hard work and dedication, our vocalist and friend Jose Barrales has decided to part ways with the band due to personal and financial reasons. We all wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors! We have, however, moved forward and found a great replacement for the upcoming tours. He is a friend, fan and a great singer named Mauro Gonzalez from local band MUTANTS OF WAR. We have been rehearsing with Mauro non-stop for the upcoming 2010 calendar and can't wait to hit the road! Barrales stated: "Since BONDED BY BLOOD is leaving on tour today, I've decided to let you all know that I have left the band. It was one of the hardest decisions I have had to make in a very long time and it crushes me to do so, but I just couldn't continue any longer.

"For the past two to three years, I have been struggling with financial, personal, band and family problems that seemed to get even more chaotic as time went by.

"I don't really want to go into detail on my personal reason on why I left the band; what I really want to say in this announcement is thank you — thank you to all the bands, fans and friends that helped me out on the road, thank you for believing in me and BONDED BY BLOOD, thank you for all the support.

"As for BONDED BY BLOOD, they will continue without me. For the past couple of weeks they have been rehearsing with a good friend of ours, Mauro Gonzales, from the band MUTANTS OF WAR. I only hope you guys treat him with the same respect you treated me.

"As for me, I will be around. I will never leave the music world, but for now, I need to fix some problems of my own.

"I hope you respect my decision and hope one day I can be on stage once again.

"One last thank you to everyone at Earache: Dig, Dan, Ali, Talita, Al, Summer, Rich and Ant. Ruben, Jerry, Juan and Alex: you guys will never be forgotten, best five years ever. Give them hell, fuckers!"

After many metal years under his belt, guitarist Shawn McCoy of the Raleigh, North Carolina-based underground legends CONFESSOR has decided to quit playing metal and write some music "for his soul." He describes the material as "very experimental" with a "Middle Eastern feel" and "somewhat psychadelic." He adds, "I'm sure lots of [fans of] CONFESSOR and [McCoy's post-CONFESSOR band] AGE OF DESPAIR will seriously enjoy this." THE WAY OF PURITY, a band from Sweden that mixes black metal, doom metal, death metal, grindcore and metalcore, has announced the addition of Norwegian singer Tiril Skårdal to the group's ranks.

Commented the band: "Born in Sandnes, Norway, Tiril is a pure and complete artist with an outstanding personality. Music, drama, fireworks are the diciplines that she loves.

"This is a magical moment for us since Tiril joined the band and asked us to be the only effigy of our project. We are so proud. That's all we can say.

Tiril described herself with the following words: "My life is a set of actions, performed mainly for their symbolic value. My religion includes actions which are arbitrarily chosen by me, or dictated purely by logic, chance, necessity. The repetitive behavior systematically used by me is purely made for satisfaction of my spiritual and emotional needs or strengthening and purification. Alongside the dimensions of reverence of my gods, my rituals can have a more basic personal function in expressing and reinforcing my links with the cult I belong to. The earliest known undisputed evidence dates from the Upper Paleolithic. This helped in creating an evelasting and firm sense of my identity.

"I am running along the methaphysical edge of reality. My expressed wish that some form of adversity or misfortune will befall and attach to your eternity. You can't protect yourself from the Evil Eye."

Davey Lee, the San Antonio, Texas-based guitarist for the metal bands REVEREND and BYFIST, died this morning (Friday, October 1) of a heart attack. He had played the guitar since the age of 15.

REVEREND has released the following statement regarding Davey's passing:

"With sad and heavy hearts we want to let all of our friends and fans know that Davey Lee, our lead guitarist, passed away Friday morning [October 1] at 10:00 a.m. from a heart attack. We will greatly miss his sense of humor, his love and dedication to his family and friends, metal music and to BYFIST/REVEREND.

"You will be sorely missed, Davey, but we know you will keep on rockin'!!!

Italian bloodsuckers THEATRES DES VAMPIRES will release their new album, "Moonlight Waltz", on January 14, 2011 via Aural Music. The CD was recorded at Temple of Noise studios in Rome, Italy with producer Christian Ice and will feature guest appearances by Snowy Shaw (DIMMU BORGIR, KING DIAMOND, MERCYFUL FATE, THERION, NOTRE DAME), Cadaveria (CADAVERIA, DYNABYTE) and Eva Breznikar (LAIBACH). The first pressing of the album will be made available in a deluxe limited slipcase edition, including a special bonus DVD with exclusive video material, behind-the-scenes footage from the making of the album, interviews and more.

New Jersey/New York's ILL NIÑO will release its new album, "Dead New World", on October 26 via Victory Records. The follow-up to 2008's "Enigma" was self-produced, with co-production coming from Clint Lowery (SEVENDUST) and Sahaj Ticotin (RA), and mixed by Eddie Wohl (36 CRAZYFISTS, ANTHRAX, SMILE EMPTY SOUL). Reactivated late 1980s Portland, Oregon-based thrash metal/hardcore band WEHRMACHT is putting the finishing touches on a new EP, "Fast As A Shark Attack", to be released in time for the group's upcoming European tour. According to guitarist John Duffy, the CD will feature "brand new, kick-ass recordings" of "Shark Attack", "United Shoe Brothers" and a "killer" cover of ACCEPT's "Fast As A Shark".

WEHRMACHT's European trek, which kicks off on November 12 in Belgium, will be preceded by a huge farewell gig for the club Satyricon with POISON IDEA and many other bands on October 31. WEHRMACHT states, "We will definitely miss our old stomping ground as this venue holds many great memories for us."

In the mid-'80s when most west coast metal bands in America were copying either METALLICA or MÖTLEY CRÜE, WEHRMACHT had a different approach which set them apart! By 1986 the band's self-distributed demo cassette and an appearance on the "Speed Metal Hell" compilation series had gained the group considerable acclaim in the metal underground. Music publications such as England's Metal Forces and the Netherlands' Aardschok were among many to praise WEHRMACHT's original sound.

In 1987, New Renaissance Records released WEHRMACHT's debut album entitled "Shark Attack". Although "Shark Attack" was well received by the metal underground, until 1999, it was never available in America on compact disc.

After "Shark Attack", the band set out to record their second album. That album, "Biermacht", was released in spring of 1988 on CD, LP, and cassette. Despite substantial pre-orders for "Biermacht", many record shops and distributors returned the products to the record company after discovering a song entitled "Suck My Dick" was listed on the album's cover. Many distributors also complained about the cover artwork.

MANUSCRIPTS DON'T BURN, the new project formed by Davide Tiso of Italian avant-garde metallers EPHEL DUATH, will release its debut mini-CD in late October/early November via Amaranth Recordings (a sub-label of Aural Music operated by Tiso himself).

An early 2011 release is expected.

Swedish death-mongers CALIBER 666 have inked a deal with Ibex Moon Records. The band's full-length debut, "Blood Fueled Chaos", will be available digitally on October 1 via MetalHit.com. Mixed and mastered by Fred Estby (ex-DISMEMBER), the CD features guest performances from L.G. Petrov of ENTOMBED (on "The Worthless") and DISMEMBER vocalist Matti Kärki ("Let The Blood Flow").

As reported earlier, bass player Karin Axelsson got injured while the shoot of the video in a scene where the band gets murdered with a guitar by a girl.
