MACHINE HEAD To Enter Studio This Weekend
 San Francisco Bay Area metallers MACHINE HEAD will enter GREEN DAY's Oakland, California's JingleTown Recording compound on Sunday, February 9 to begin recording their new album for a late 2014 release via Nuclear Blast Entertainment.
Comments MACHINE HEAD frontman Robb Flynn in the latest installment of his online blog, "The General Journals: Diary Of A Frontman... And Other Ramblings": "Looking forward to this; it's gonna be a fun album to record.
"We have some really, really strong songs, powerful songs.
"There's no question it's going to be a big project. So with big projects come big expectations and sometimes big 'issues,' but the feeling in the band, the feeling BETWEEN the band, is so positive we're chomping at the bit to get started.
"We know it will be a big undertaking but we're up for it. We're ready.
"We're approaching two decades of recording and releasing our music to you. Let that sink in for a minute... because it definitely causes me to pause.
"Most bands do not get to make music for as long as we have and flourish. Most bands do not get to build an 'army' of fans and friends. We have, and for one of many reasons, we refuse to rest on our laurels. There's no getting complacent at this stage of the game. Good isn't good enough, it has to change the world, it has to dent the universe. You won't care if it's anything less. We're putting in the long, hard, boring hours of work that it takes to make something truly special.
"And I have to mention it again; the feeling of four guys pulling together, four guys all on the same page, four guys all on the same team, man... it is an amazing feeling. I can't remember a time when the band was this locked-in mentally, physically, and spiritually.
"There's still a waaaaays to go before we're done, a few songs still getting wrapped up musically / lyrically...
"But yeah, it begins... this weekend."
He adds: "As I mentioned last week, we will be releasing the 'demo' version of 'Killers & Kings' with a B-side of the IGNITE classic 'Our Darkest Days / Bleeding', on 10-inch vinyl for Record Store Day worldwide.
"For those of you who don't know, Record Store Day is a day to support the local mom-and-pop record stores. Often bands will release limited-edition items exclusively to these stores, it never ends up in the big chains. It helps support the little guys, and if you can't make it to the store, you can still order if from them online. We back it 100%.
"Yesterday we put the first of four 10-inch album covers that will be released. Four Tarot cards in total.
"More covers coming next week.
"It's the first time since our debut album that we've actually released demos 'before' an album. Since that album, we've only done it after the fact, and I really am excited about doing beforehand.
"I remember selling the six-song MACHINE HEAD demo at our early shows. We'd sell it in the parking lots of metal shows like drugs. I even brokered a deal overseas to have the demos sold and they did extremely well; it helped create a buzz over there.
"This demo version of 'Killers & Kings' is not-finished. Shit, I'm still 'scattin'' some the lyrics, meaning = making it up as I go! I think it's cool that you can hear that.
"I'm not sure why the idea of releasing demos before a record stopped. I always loved hearing demos before a record came out.
"I think what happened is that record companies got scared that people wouldn't buy the record if they didn't like the demos. I know, for me, I wanted to hear new music no matter what. If I was crazy about the band, I searched far and wide to hear anything they had, demos, bootlegs, rehearsals, videos, the more I found, the better. It's like I went on a journey with the band. Listening to the songs evolve, or not evolve, change or not change.
"I love that journey! I hope you do too, 'cause we're about to take you on a crazy fucking journey.
"Are you ready?"
Other tentative songtitles set to appear on the new MACHINE HEAD album include "Beneath The Silt", "Ojos De La Muerte", "Sail Into The Black" and "Night Of The Long Knives".
MACHINE HEAD's most recent studio release, 2011's "Unto The Locust", entered The Billboard 200 chart at position No. 22 — putting them in the Top 25 for the first time in the band's history.

Video: VINCE NEIL, DJ ASHBA, VINNIE PAUL Perform ZZ TOP Classic In Las Vegas
 Las Vegas Weekly celebrated its 15th anniversary in true Las Vegas fashion with #Unscripted, a night that featured dozens of the city's elite, at the Havana Room inside The New Tropicana Las Vegas on December 18, 2013. A portion of the proceeds from the evening benefitted the Foundation To Assist Young Musicians and its mission to encourage young musicians through training, advanced study, career development and more. More than 650 of the publication's loyal fans gathered at the party, which commenced with signature spirits by Bacardi USA, sounds by producer and DJ duo MICS and a red carpet full of celebrities. Las Vegas Weekly publisher Travis Keys and Las Vegas Weekly editor Sarah Feldberg gave a few words to attendees followed by a "champagne wishes" toast from columnist and television personality Robin Leach. The evening was hosted by the editor at large and writer of entertainment column "The Kats Report", John Katsilometes, who also took the limelight to introduce some of the party’s key performances including the night's headliner, Frankie Moreno. Among the audience were several celebrities and Las Vegas personalities including publisher and editor of Las Vegas Sun, Brian Greenspun; television personality Holly Madison and founder and CEO of Insomniac, Pasquale Rotella; 'NSYNC band member and television personality Joey Fatone; PIN UP star and Playboy's 2011 Playmate Of The Year Claire Sinclair; Lacey Schwimmer of "Dancing With The Stars"; Chippendales members including television personalities Jaymes Vaughn and James Davis; MÖTLEY CRÜE lead singer Vince Neil; GUNS N' ROSES guitarist DJ Ashba; ROUGH CUTT/ex-QUIET RIOT singer Paul Shortino; and HELLYEAH/ex-PANTERA drummer Vinnie Paul Abbott. Guests had a blast as they mingled, sipped on drinks and enjoyed musical stylings, while Las Vegas' top performers hit the stage with absolutely no rules. At the center of the uncensored madness was Moreno's band, who invited the stars amongst the crowd to perform at random including Fatone, Neil, Ashba and Vnnie Paul. The artists performed hits ranging from '70s rock to holiday classics.

HATRIOT's 'Fiery' Performance In Cotati Captured On Video
 Shortly after HATRIOT — the San Francisco Bay Area thrash metal band led by former EXODUS and LEGACY (pre-TESTAMENT) frontman Steve "Zetro" Souza — started playing the song "Murder American Style" on January 18 at Spancky's in Cotati, California, a fire started in one of the PA speakers.
Jesse Amazeen, who attended the concert and shot the clip below, tells BLABBERMOUTH.NET: "The fire got put out pretty quickly, but a lot of us realized this could have easily been another GREAT WHITE type of club fire. Scary."
HATRIOT's sophomore album, "Dawn Of The New Centurion", will be released on February 21 via Massacre Records. The band once again used producer Juan Urteaga and graphic artist Mark DeVito for the new effort, which will be made available on CD and digital download, as well as a limited-edition CD digipak with bonus tracks, and a limited-edition vinyl LP.

"Over the past year, HATRIOT has grown tighter as a band, and the songs on the new record will reflect that," said Souza. "The songs are longer and more melodic, while keeping the classic thrash metal feel that we are known for.
"'Heroes Of Origin' was our 'Kill 'Em All', and 'Dawn Of The New Centurion' is our 'Ride The Lightning'."
HATRIOT's drummer is none other than Steve's son, Nicholas Souza. Nicholas auditioned for the band after the departure of Alex Bent and "proved himself to be the best choice," according to Steve.
HATRIOT's lineup also includes Zetro's son Cody, who got his first bass as a present from his father after Zetro bought it off current EXODUS bassist Jack Gibson.
Regarding HATRIOT's musical direction, Zetro said, "It's in the vein of typical Bay Area thrash, but these guys are a lot younger, so there's gonna be some blast-beats in there. There's gonna be some kind of death [metal] approach to it, a little bit. 'Cause these guys are new. They're raw, and they're fast, young, heavy, hard and aggressive, and I'm trying to convey that along as well."
He added, "These new kids seem to understand what we did in the '80s, but still bring a little bit of a new essence to it. We put that together with what I write vocally and it's turned out to be really, really killer. It's good stuff." | 0 | |

DREAM THEATER's JORDAN RUDESS Uploads Footage From Katowice, Nürnberg
 Keyboardist Jordan Rudess of progressive metal giants DREAM THEATER has uploaded video footage from Katowice, Poland and Nürnberg, Germany, shot during the band's current European headlining tour. Check it out below.
DREAM THEATER's latest, self-titled album (available for purchase here) sold around 34,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 7 on The Billboard 200 chart. The CD arrived in stores on September 24, 2013 via Roadrunner.
DREAM THEATER's "Along For The Ride" tour will pick up on March 20 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada following the band's European tour and then continues through the end of April where it will eventually wrap up in Guadalajara, Mexico on April 26.

PHILIP ANSELMO: Quality Fan-Filmed Video Footage Of Albuquerque Concert
 Fan-filmed video footage of former PANTERA and current DOWN singer Philip Anselmo and his backing band, THE ILLEGALS, performing on January 25 at Launchpad in Albuquerque, New Mexico can be seen below.
Anselmo kicked off the second leg of his first-ever solo tour, dubbed "Technicians Of Distortion", on January 10 in Houston and headed westward, trampling through over a dozen cities with additional support provided by HYMNS. On this trek, Anselmo was once again being joined by his backup band THE ILLEGALS — guitarist Marzi Montazeri (ex-SUPERJOINT RITUAL), drummer José Manuel Gonzales (WARBEAST) and bassist Steve Taylor.
Anselmo's recently released, limited-edition two-song "Housecore Horror Fest" 10-inch vinyl EP was available for purchase on all tour dates.
Anselmo's career-first solo album, "Walk Through Exits Only", sold around 8,700 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 35 on The Billboard 200 chart.
Produced by Anselmo and Michael Thompson, and recorded over the past couple of years at Philip's New Orleans studio, Nodferatu's Lair, "Walk Through Exits Only" is abrasive, aggressive, anthemic and 100% Anselmo.

LACUNA COIL: New Song 'Nothing Stands In Our Way' Available For Streaming
 Italian heavy rockers LACUNA COIL will release their new studio album, "Broken Crown Halo", in North America on April 1 (one day earlier internationally) via Century Media Records. The CD was recorded Italy by producer Jay Baumgardner (P.O.D., SEVENDUST, EVANESCENCE, PAPA ROACH) and engineer Kyle Hoffmann (P.O.D., BUSH, ZEBRAHEAD). The effort was mastered by Howie Weinberg, whose credits include RAMMSTEIN, SOUNDGARDEN, NIRVANA, DEFTONES and SHERYL CROW.
"Broken Crown Halo" is LACUNA COIL's seventh studio effort, and the highly-anticipated follow-up to "Dark Adrenaline", which was released in January 2012 and saw the band tour with acts including MEGADETH, MOTÖRHEAD, VOLBEAT and SEVENDUST after debuting at No. 15 on The Billboard 200 album chart.

HOLY MOSES: New Song 'Hellhound' Posted Online
 Two years ago, "30th Anniversary - In The Power Of Now" saw HOLY MOSES close a chapter of its history; now the band is setting the course for the future: Germany’s most eminent thrash metal act is about to launch its latest studio recording, "Redefined Mayhem", on April 29 (one day earlier internationally).

The current HOLY MOSES lineup consisting of vocalist Sabina Classen, guitarist Peter Geltat, bassist Thomas Neitsch and drummer Gerd Lücking is ready to face new challenges in a permanently evolving metal genre.
"This is HOLY MOSES mark 2014, and 'Redefined Mayhem' defines a new chapter of our band history, proving also to our numerous young fans that we are one hundred percent in the here and now," explains Sabina Classen, adding: "We had to redefine ourselves as a band and gel as a team. There were people who voiced their doubts that it would work. But the new songs prove beyond all doubt that HOLY MOSES continue to be a force to be reckoned with." MIRACLE MASTER: 'Tattooed Woman' Video Released
 "Tattooed Woman", the debut album from MIRACLE MASTER, the German/Danish hard rock band formed out of the ashes of PUMP, will be released on March 7 via Golden Core Records/ZYX Music. The CD was recorded at Studio 22 in Germany and was produced, mixed and mastered by MIRACLE MASTER and Axel Heckert (BRAINSTORM, SYMPHORCE). The cover artwork was created by Matthias Bäuerele of Seasonzero (DOWNSPIRIT, SYMPHORCE, ZOMBIE INC.) and can be seen below.

Ex-NIGHTWISH Singer ANETTE OLZON: 'Lies' Video Teaser
 A teaser for "Lies", the first solo video from former NIGHTWISH singer Anette Olzon, can be seen below. The clip, which was directed by Patric Ullaeus of Revolver Film Company (DIMMU BORGIR, LACUNA COIL, IN FLAMES, SONIC SYNDICATE, KAMELOT), will make its online debut on February 14 at 4:00 p.m. CET.
"Lies" is the first single from Olzon's debut solo album, "Shine", which will be released via earMUSIC, the Hamburg, Germany-based international rock label which is part of Edel Group, on the following dates:

"Shine", which was co-produced by Anette Olzon and Johan Kronlund, is a collaboration with some of the most successful teams in rock and pop in Scandinavia: Stefan Örn (songwriter and producer of the 2011 Eurovision Song Contest-winning track "Running Scared") and Johan Glössner. The album was mixed by Kronlund, Nicklas Flykt and Ronny Lahti (known for his work with Loreen and Roxette).

"I am so thrilled to finally release my first solo album," says Olzon. "I've been working on it for a long time by now...
"The album is very personal with songs I have started writing already in 2009 but also very recent songs.
"The overall message of the album is that life can be really dark and filled with hardship and sadness, but you can always choose to see some light coming through, to make you stronger and full of life — making you SHINE… no matter what."
Regarding the CD's musical direction, Anette said: "In the end, it is a rock album. Well, a pop rock album, maybe, or would you call it pop metal?"
Olzon in 2011 released two demo tracks that she recorded in 2009 for what was supposed to become her debut solo album. She said at the time, "The songs are not mixed or produced, just recorded in the moment, and therefore are very rough songs. But I still want you to hear them since I am proud of them and I think they show another part of me than you hear in NIGHTWISH." She added, "The first song is called 'Floating' and I call it the 'circus' song. It gives me a happy feeling and the vibe in it is happy and joyful. The second song ['Invincible'] is a song I wrote for my son and therefore it's very special to me."
Olzon announced in April 2011 that she decided to push back the tentative release date of her debut solo album to after NIGHTWISH had completed touring in support of its then-yet-to-be-released new studio album, "Imaginarium".
Olzon worked on material for her solo CD in 2009 with Swedish producers Stefan Örn and Johan Glössner. The album was slated to be co-produced by Swedish producer/songwriter Anders Bagge, who has previously worked with MADONNA, CELINE DION, JANET JACKSON and JESSICA SIMPSON, among others. He was also one of judges on the Swedish TV talent competition "Idol" and a producer of the TV series "Made in Sweden".
Olzon in 2009 hired a personal manager — the Swedish management company Hagenburg Management, which also represents EUROPE and THE CARDIGANS.
Olzon was fired from NIGHTWISH in September 2012 in the middle of the band's North American tour. She has since been replaced by former AFTER FOREVER and current REVAMP singer Floor Jansen.

Former DEATH ANGEL Drummer ANDY GALEON Joins SPIRALARMS
 SPIRALARMS, the San Francisco Bay Area-based heavy rock band featuring Craig Locicero (FORBIDDEN, ex-MANMADEGOD) on guitar, Tim Narducci (ex-SYSTEMATIC) on vocals, Chris "Cornbread" Lombardo on bass, Brad Barth on keyboards, and Anthony Traslavina on rhythm guitar, ahs announced the addition of drummer Andy Galeon (DEATH ANGEL) to the group's ranks.
Andy will make his live debut with SPIRALARMS this Saturday, February 8 at the Milk Bar in San Francisco.
Comments Locicero: "After much deliberation and our European tour, we've decided it is time to part ways with our good friend and brother, Ron Redeen. This was not an easy decision, but it came down to health and personal reasons that Ron must deal with on his own terms.
"Make no mistake about it: this was difficult.
"Ron is a fantastic drummer and a wonderful person who deserves much credit and respect for his playing. We wish him nothing but the best for his future and we love him dearly. "Now to the present... Andy Galeon, formerly of DEATH ANGEL, is 'the New Guy!'
"When Andy and I got together to play the 'Robb Flynn & Friends' benefit last month, we just clicked. Everything we played together had something special going within our chemistry. This was totally unexpected by both of us and the only times previous to that I'd actually played music with Andy was on old SABBATH songs decades ago. That being said, we've been friends for about 25 years and toured our asses off together in 1990 in Europe and the States. Back then, we were the two youngest kids on the bus! There is a history and pedigree that makes sense. "When Tim, Cornbread and Brad watched Andy and I play at the benefit, it all became clear. He IS our guy that will help us continue to grow into the heavy rock force we set out to be.
"Our first full practice was tonight and we all got chills at how much we jelled with the power and groove Andy brings to the table.
"Andy's been playing drums his entire life and pretty much grew up in rock and metal school.
"Honestly, I'm so happy to have Andy in a situation were he can get back out there and show his skills in our music.
"We all complement each other with an ease that's difficult to come by.
"It's about time he steps back into the international ring, so to speak. "Now it's out of the frying pan and into the fire!
"Two rehearsals and we're playing our first show Saturday night in San Francisco! That's what professionals do, and Andy is a pro!" Added Galeon: "In the recent years, I've recorded and performed with many cool and different projects in the Bay Area. Bands like END THE SUFFERING, THE NERV, HADI DROUBI, FOS ROCK and YEIBICHAI. But I'm really stoked to inform you that I just joined SPIRALARMS. They're a gritty band with high levels of musicianship and songwriting skills. "I've known Craig since the early FORBIDDEN EVIL days and have known Tim since the TYRANNICIDE/SYSTEMATIC days. Our paths re-crossed for the BLACK SABBATH tribute gig with 'Robb Flynn & Friends'. We jammed and I'm proud to say things naturally progressed into me joining this musically diverse, organically heavy soulful group called SPIRALARMS! "I'm ecstatic to be a part of these heavy grooves."
SPIRALARMS' second album, "Freedom", was released on October 22, 2013 via Steamhammer/SPV.
SPIRALARMS rose from the ashes of millennial bands SYSTEMATIC, FORBIDDEN and MANMADE GOD.
Friends since the age of 15, Narducci and Locicero bonded over their love of heavy metal and hard rock music. Looking back at that time period, Craig said, "[We were] probably the youngest kids in the East Bay metal scene that were drinking beer out in the parking lot after seeing bands like TESTAMENT and EXODUS play."
Although the two remained friends throughout the years, they both went their separate ways and started bands of their own.
After years of playing with their respective groups, the two friends contacted each other and decided it was time to start playing music together again, and in 2004 SPIRALARMS was born.
"Freedom"'s down-to-earth and very dynamic production deserves a mention. The album oozes a liveliness, which many other bands tend to lose in the studio. Traffic Circle In Poland Named After Late SLAYER Guitarist JEFF HANNEMAN
 According to CentrumDruku3D, a traffic circle in Jaworzno, a small city in Poland, has been renamed after late SLAYER guitarist Jeff Hanneman. The official sign unveiling, which took place yesterday (Thursday, Febraury 6), was made possible thanks to the Polish company Art-Com Sp. z o.o. (Art-Com Ltd.), which won the charity auction during the world-famous Wielka Orkiestra Swiatecznej Pomocy (Great Christmas Aid Orchestra).
For one year, the traffic circle in Jaworzno will be called Jeff Hanneman's Circle Pit.
A message on the official sign that is displayed at the traffic circle reads as follows:
"Jeff Hanneman's Circle Pit - unforgettable SLAYER guitarist
"During the XXII Final of The Great Orchestra Of Christmas charity, the President of Jaworzno put up for auction the traffic circle in the city centre, which was later auctioned by Art-Com Ltd. The company could give the name to the traffic circle and became its 'symbolic' owner for the period of one year. The money gathered during the XXII Final of The Great Orchestra Of Christmas charity was allocated for the purchase of specialized equipment for children's emergency medicine and deserving health care of seniors."

Jeff Hanneman died last year from alcohol-related cirrhosis of the liver. He is credited for writing many of SLAYER's classic songs, including "Angel Of Death" and "South Of Heaven".
The guitarist, who passed away in Los Angeles on May 2, 2013, had actually not been playing with SLAYER for more than two years since he contracted necrotizing fasciitis, also known as flesh-eating disease, from a spider bite in his backyard in January 2011. The infection ravaged the flesh and tissues of Hanneman's arm, leading to numerous surgeries, skin grafts and intense periods of rehab that forced him into semi-retirement and left him near death at several points.
Hanneman's last appearance with SLAYER was in April 2011, when he played an encore with the band at the "Big Four" concert in Indio, California.

"Bonzo Bash" is the "celebration show" that John Bonham freak/worshipper/drum lifer Brian Thomas Tichy (WHITESNAKE, FOREIGNER, OZZY OSBOURNE, BILLY IDOL) put together to pay tribute to the one and only drummer he has never stopped listening to and being inspired by since he was 10 years old.
In an interview with Drum Talk TV magazine, Pero said: "[John Bonham] is one of the reasons why I actually started playing rock. [He] was one of my favorite drummers."
Pero told Metal-Rules.com: "Certain drummers you pick up certain things from and certain people picked up certain things from me, which I'm told all the time. But I also took from other people and did it my own way, my own feel. You know, you can take certain licks from certain people, but you are not going to do them the way they do them. You have your own personality, your own inner spirit, and that spirit comes out, that's you, your own personality. Even though you are trying to do the same things — not that I don't have the ability, but I wouldn't have the sound that John Bonham had, and if he were alive, he wouldn't be able to do what I do, because... I'm me! He was who he was, along with all the other drummers."

GORY BLISTER Signs With SLIPTRICK RECORDS
 Italian technical death metallers GORY BLISTER have inked a deal with Sliptrick Records for the release of their fifth studio album. Tentatively due this spring, the will be mastered by Q Point in Hilversum, The Netherlands.
According to a press release, GORY BLISTER's new songs feature the band's "classic" style, but with a "darker" and more "refined" sound.
GORY BLISTER's current lineup includes Emi Dattolo from the band ILLOGICIST on bass.

METALLICA's LARS ULRICH Revisits NAPSTER Battle
 According to The Pulse Of Radio, METALLICA drummer Lars Ulrich revisited one of the most controversial eras of the band's career in a Reddit "Ask Me Anything" session last weekend, tackling a question about the band's infamous lawsuit in 2000 against the Napster file-sharing service. Asked whether he regretted the legal battle with the company, which effectively drove Napster out of business, Ulrich said he did not, adding, "I do find it odd how big of a part of our legacy it has become to so many people, because to me it's more like a footnote." At the time 14 years ago, Ulrich told The Pulse Of Radio that the Napster battle was not about getting money for the band's music, but about having control over how it was shared. "All we want as an artist is a choice," he said. "There's nothing to argue about that. Nobody has the right to do with our music whatever they want. We do. We're saying as much as the next band want to work with Napster, we have the right not to."
His views on the subject today have not changed, with the drummer saying in the "Ask Me Anything" session, "The whole thing was about one thing and one thing only — control. Not about the Internet, not about money, not about file sharing, not about giving shit away for free or not, but about whose choice it was. If I wanna give my shit away for free, I'll give it away for free. That choice was taken away from me."
Napster was launched in 1999 as a pioneering, easy-to-use peer-to-peer file sharing service that was used mainly by music fans trading songs and albums in the MP3 format.
At its peak, the service had 80 million users and provided the template for later services like Limewire, Grokster, Gnutella and many others. Its success arguably began the end of the "album era" in popular music and sent the music industry into a tailspin from which it has never fully recovered.
METALLICA sued Napster after the band discovered that a leaked demo version of its song "I Disappear" was circulating on the service before it was released.

In a recent interview with Ultimate-Guitar.com, Sharon stated about the songwriting process for "Hydra"": "A lot of bands were inspired by the '80s at the time we were writing 'The Unforgiving' album. There was a lot of music based on the '80s coming out and it had a lot of '80s flavors. With this new album, even though we're only a few years further up the road, you can feel that music has changed again. Music is not inspired on the '80s, but more like there are different influences in the music again. Music's always organic, and you feel things are changing comfortably."
She added: "When people asked us after 'The Unforgiving', 'Are you gonna make another 'Unforgiving' album?" we said, 'Of course.' Because we were really full of it in a positive way. We really like the album a lot and still do like it a lot but we really feel there's an '80s feel to the songs. When we started writing this album, again we felt like we were already knowing we were gonna go a different direction also."

JOURNEY: There Are No Plans For Reunion With STEVE PERRY
 JOURNEY's management has reportedly shot down speculation that the band is in talks with its former singer, Steve Perry, about a possible reunion.
Late last month, Artisan News posted a video clip (see below) in which Perry was asked whether he has been in contact with JOURNEY guitarist Neal Schon. "I haven't worked with Neal," he replied. "We're trying. It's tough. I'm doing my best in that area and I can only do so much."
According to MelodicRock.com, the speculation about a possible reunion between JOURNEY and Perry is "totally inaccurate." The site's webmaster, Andrew McNeice, writes: "I can one hundred per cent confirm there has been no business or reunion communication between the camps.
"While everyone is on good terms, with no issues, there are no plans in the foreseeable future.
"JOURNEY management stated to me today: 'No reunion plans; all is well in the JOURNEY camp. Big tour in the U.S. this summer — JOURNEY/STEVE MILLER and TOWER OF POWER.'
"I can add that Steve's recently quoted responses to media about his situation is basically a polite answer to the question he is always going to be asked. Watching him say it on video gives it better context than the quote in text.
"Don't get too excited, folks, my source states that any hype is just 'hot air.'"
Fans have been eagerly awaiting some type of answer from Perry after Schon posted an olive branch to him last July on his Facebook page. Schon, who along with keyboardist Jonathan Cain and co-founding bassist Ross Valory, parted ways with Perry in 1998, posted a YouTube link to a Perry radio interview along with a warm open message to his former collaborator, stating: "Great Steve Perry interview. I hope we can reach out to each other and connect once again. We had amazing chemistry together. I love him with all the love and admiration you could even have. Steve, let's talk soon. Neal."
Steve Perry left JOURNEY in 1998 rather than be forced into hip surgery so that the band could tour behind their hit reunion album "Trial By Fire". He's currently prepping his first solo album in 20 years.
JOURNEY's latest studio album, "Eclipse", featuring singer Arnel Pineda, was released in May 2011. The Walmart-exclusive CD debuted on The Billboard 200 album chart at No. 13.
Recently released is JOURNEY's latest compilation, "Greatest Hits - Volume 2", which was compiled by Steve Perry.

ALICE COOPER Says His Covers Album Will Feature 'A Really, Really Great Bunch Of Guests'
 Legendary rocker Alice Cooper's much-anticipated covers album, featuring songs that were originally written and recorded by THE DOORS, Jimi Hendrix, John Lennon and THE WHO, members of the so-called "Hollywood vampires" of the early and mid-'70s, will be released this spring prior to Cooper's stint as the support act on MÖTLEY CRÜE's "The Final Tour".
Speaking about whether the record will feature some famous guests, Alice said: "It's gonna be all guests. Some of my backing band, but… almost all guests, and a really, really great bunch of guests… I'm really excited about this album."
Back in March 2013, Cooper said about the upcoming CD: "We do a thing in our show, which is a tribute to Hollywood Vampires, my drinking club. And it was Keith Moon, John Lennon, Harry Nilsson, Micky Dolenz — a very eclectic bunch of drunks. Half of them are dead, so we do four songs in the show in tribute to them. We do 'Break On Through', 'Revolution', 'My Generation' and Jimi Hendrix's 'Foxey Lady'. I just kind of said, 'We've never done a covers album, let's think about that.'"
Asked what some of the wish-list songs are, Cooper said: "I would keep it right to about '73, '74. I don't want to just go anywhere. I want to keep it right in that sort of drunk era, so it's specific. I would say 'Break On Through', that's a really good rock track there. The other ones, think of it — Harry Nilsson, there's a lot of good stuff there that could be rocked out. I think of songs as being clay. Take a song like 'Jump Into the Fire' and take that to a harder level, and that'll work."

HELLION To Release 'To HELLION And Back' 2-Disc Anthology In April
 Los Angeles-based female-fronted metallers HELLION have inked a contract with London-based HNE/Cherry Red Records. The first of three HELLION albums set for release this year is a 2-disc anthology entitled "To Hellion And Back", which will be released on April 1, and the first 1,000 copies will be autographed by the band's singer, Ann Boleyn.
"To Hellion And Back" chronicles the band's beginnings from 1982, to the present, and features new music from HELLION. It features a collection of fan favorites, hard-to-find recordings, and previously unreleased tracks. Among the collection are also two songs that were produced by Ronnie James Dio at the legendary Sound City recording studio. The cover artwork was designed by Italian artist Gaetano Di Falco and inspired by the photography of P.G. Brunelli.
The musicians enlisted by powerhouse vocalist Ann Boleyn for the new HELLION include drummer Simon Wright (AC/DC, Geoff Tate's QUEENSRŸCHE, DIO, DIO DISCIPLES), keyboardist Scott Warren (DIO, HEAVEN & HELL), Swedish import bassist Bjorn Englen (YNGWIE MALMSTEEN, DIO DISCIPLES), and up-and-coming lead guitarist Maxxxwell Carlisle.
HELLION's new tracks were produced by legendary British studio icon Ken Scott, who has produced iconic albums, including David Bowie's "Hunky Dory", "The Rise And Fall Of Ziggy Stardust And The Spiders From Mars", "Aladdin Sane" and "Pinups". A top producer at Abbey Road Studios, Scott is also acknowledged as one of the five principal engineers for THE BEATLES. He has engineered countless classic works, including George Harrison's "All Things Must Pass", Elton John's "Madman Across The Water", "Honky Chateau" and "Don't Shoot Me I'm Only The Piano Player". Other credits include gold and platinum albums by SUPERTRAMP, David Bowie, MISSING PERSONS and KANSAS.
Scott recently said of the comparison between working with David Bowie and Ann Boleyn: "Working with Bowie or working with Ann of HELLION, you've got sheer talent."
Acknowledging Boleyn as the driving force propelling the band, Scott notes: "Over the years, the musicians have changed. The one musician that has always been the same is Ann. So once again, it's new musicians. The one constant thing about HELLION is Ann, and her incredible voice."
Says Wright of working with Boleyn and HELLION: "She's tried to stay true to that heaviness and a certain darkness. She's sticking to the same formula, just different musicians, though."

In 1983, when the term "female metal singer" did not exist, HELLION's demo recordings (released as a self-titled mini-LP) climbed to No. 6 in England's rock charts. In America, HELLION, however, was regarded by the corporate music world as "too heavy" for a band with a female singer.
Despite never releasing an album on a major record label, HELLION was the first female-fronted metal band to be featured on MTV and VH1 and was also the first U.S. metal band to perform in the former Soviet Union on a Monsters Of Rock festival.
HELLION will tour in Europe in 2014 and is expected to appear at a number of major festivals.

RESURRECTION Signs With OLD SCHOOL METAL RECORDS
 Long-running Floridian death metal outfit RESURRECTION has inked a deal with Old School Metal Records for the release of the band's first full-length album since 2008's "Mistaken for Dead". Due out in March, "Soul Descent - March of Death" will coincide with RESURRECTION's "March Of Death" European tour, which kicks off in Germany and features stops in Germany, Belgium, Holland, Czech Republic and Poland.
RESURRECTION's current lineup consists of founding member and guitarist John Astl, drummer Gabriel Lewandowski (EQUINOX, HELLWITCH, ACHERON), bassist and vocalist Damian Chavez and guitarist Mike Estes-.

BENEATH To Release 'The Barren Throne' In April
 Icelandic death metal juggernauts BENEATH will release their second full-length album, "The Barren Thorne", on April 29 via Unique Leader Records. The CD was helmed by Polish producers Wojtek and Slawek Wieslawski, who previously worked with such acts as DECAPITATED, VADER and BEHEMOTH. The album contains 11 tracks of technical brutality, clocking in at 53 minutes.

In February 2010, BENEATH released its debut EP entitled "Hollow Empty Void" on Mordbrann Musikk, which lead to them getting a record deal with Unique Leader. In 2012, the band released its first full-length, "Enslaved By Fear". The CD was mixed by Daniel Bergstrand at Dugout studios in Uppsala, Sweden. TORCHE Signs With RELAPSE RECORDS
 TORCHE, the Florida-meets-Georgia quartet whose album "Harmonicraft" was proclaimed "one of the strongest guitar-rock records 2012 will yield" by Alternative Press, has signed with Relapse Records. "We're looking forward to working with a label that has stood the test of time while continuing to expand their diverse roster," explained TORCHE's Jonathan Nuñez, adding, "Releasing this record on Relapse lined up pretty well since it contains some of the heaviest songs we've written to date." TORCHE is often cited for its masterful combination of melodic songwriting and heavy music, with Spin dubbing the band's music "sludge-pop" and Filter saying the band proves "a heavy-rock band can be optimistic and sincere-without sacrificing any of the edge." TORCHE is currently recording its new album at Pinecrust Studio in Miami, with Nunez serving as producer and CONVERGE's Kurt Ballou set to mix. The as-yet-untitled CD is due this summer. TORCHE will play a celebratory, post-recording show on February 26 at St. Vitus Bar in New York.

IN THIS MOMENT Signs With ATLANTIC
 Southern California's IN THIS MOMENT has inked a deal with Atlantic following the completion of its contract with Century Media, the independent record label which released the band's first four albums. The group will enter the studio later this month to begin recording the follow-up to its 2012 commercial breakthrough, "Blood". IN THIS MOMENT will once again be working with heavy rock producer extraordinaire Kevin Churko (OZZY OSBOURNE, FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH, HELLYEAH), and singer Maria Brink couldn't be happier. "He's like a member of the band," she told The Pulse Of Radio. "He's a very vital, important part of IN THIS MOMENT to me. He really works well with me in the studio, he encourages me the right way, he lets me go crazy and then I cry in the studio, 'cause I'm all about really finding that raw, true emotion deep inside of you. He really supports me on the whole journey and he brings the best out in me."
The band is scheduled to start work on the album on February 23, with guitarist Chris Howorth telling Billboard.com that they want their fifth studio effort to be "bigger and better" than "Blood", while "still keeping true to that same vibe."
The group hopes to have a new single ready by the summer and intends either way to have new music available in time for a couple of summer tours that are under consideration.
"Blood" was IN THIS MOMENT's highest-charting album, reaching No. 15 on the Billboard album chart, while the title track became the band's first-ever Top 10 hit at rock radio.
IN THIS MOMENT recently released "Blood At The Orpheum", its first live album, while a DVD of the same concert where the disc was recorded is included in a deluxe reissue of "Blood".
"Blood" has sold 225,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

Former NEURAXIS Frontman ALEX LEBLANC Joins MASS MURDER MESSIAH
 Montreal, Quebec, Canada-based hard-hitters MASS MURDER MESSIAH have recruited former NEURAXIS frontman Alex Leblanc as their new singer.

MERIDIAN Signs With VICTORY RECORDS
 Victory Records has announced the signing of Poughkeepsie, New York's emotionally charged hardcore outfit MERIDIAN.
The band comments: "We're very excited to join the Victory roster.
