AEROSMITH's STEVEN TYLER Continuing Work On Solo Album
During a short chat with the Boston radio station WZLX earlier today (Thursday, October 31), AEROSMITH vocalist Steven Tyler told mid-day host Carter Alan that he is "finishing up some songs" for long-in-the-works solo debut, which is tentatively due next year.
You can now listen the entire conversation using the audio player below.
Tyler recently told The Pulse Of Radio that his plans to go out on his own should not be a cause of concern for AEROSMITH fans. "I'm just doing a solo record because I think it's kinky, you know, to go write a song with Johnny Depp," he said. "I think it's ridiculous to go, you know, write a bunch of songs that I started five years ago and never finished. It feeds my passion, you know. But, no, the band's not breaking up. Me doing a solo record doesn't mean the band's not working on a record, you know what I mean? But I get that in the press one has to hear that from one lead singer of one AEROSMITH." Tyler issued his first-ever solo song, called "(It) Feels So Good", in May 2011 while serving as a judge on "American Idol".
The AEROSMITH frontman recently teamed up with the South Korean pop star Psy on a new record. In an interview with Italian magazine L'Uomo Vogue, Psy said, "When I was in middle school, I literally cried when AEROSMITH were singing 'Crazy' or 'Amazing' or whatever. They were my lifetime role models, and now I am collaborating with Steven Tyler. What the fuck, man? I love my life."
AEROSMITH's latest album, "Music From Another Dimension!", came out in November 2012 and debuted at No. 5 on The Billboard 200 album chart, selling 63,000 copies in its first week of release.

SIX FEET UNDER: Illness Forces 'East Coast Armageddon' Tour Postponement
Veteran death metallers SIX FEET UNDER have released the following statement:
"Bad news... Illness of a close family member of one our band mates unfortunately has forced postponement of East Coast Armageddon until late January continuing into February. Our sincerest apologies to all of our fans. We will see you all in January."
Capital Chaos TV has uploaded video footage of SIX FEET UNDER performing the song "Shadow Of The Reaper" on July 17 at the DNA Lounge in San Francisco, California. Check it out below.
SIX FEET UNDER earlier in the year parted ways with drummer Kevin Talley and replaced him with Marco Pitruzzella.
Marco previously played with SIX FEET UNDER bassist Jeff Hughell in BRAIN DRILL.
SIX FEET UNDER's tenth full-length album, "Unborn", was released on March 19 via Metal Blade Records. The follow-to to 2012's "Undead" was mixed by Chris "Zeuss" Harris, who has previously worked with SUICIDE SILENCE, ALL THAT REMAINS, SHADOWS FALL and SOULFLY, among others.
"Unborn" was released as an exclusive European box-set edition which included the limited digipak of "Unborn" and a bonus track entitled "Illusions". Additionally the box featured a poster, a patch, two pins and a sticker plus enough space for last year's "Undead" album. The bonus track was featured on the vinyl version of "Unborn" as well. | 0

Members Of METALLICA, TOOL, ALICE IN CHAINS, HALESTORM Others Share Halloween Stories
With Halloween here (Thursday, October 31), The Pulse Of Radio asked some of its favorite rockers to share their thoughts, memories and experiences on this scary holiday. HALESTORM singer Lzzy Hale told The Pulse Of Radio about one of her favorite early costumes growing up in Pennsylvania. "My favorite one was when I dressed up as Peter Pan because I was a little tomboy as a kid, so it was like, my parents let me do it and my dad made me this sword, and they caught a little bit of flak from the neighbors for that," she said. "They were like, she should be whatever the female character is in that movie and they were like, 'No, she wanted to be Peter Pan!' I'm just glad Arejay [Hale, Lzzy's brother and HALESTORM drummer] didn't want to be Tinkerbell -- he was one of the lost boys in that year."
ALICE IN CHAINS drummer Sean Kinney admitted that he spent most of his Halloweens in the same costume. "I probably spent all my tiny boy years dressed as Peter Criss from KISS — 'bout every year until, what is it, last year," he said. "I mean, that was pretty much my thing. I'd looked forward to that. My sister'd paint me up in the cat makeup and I'd paint my hair and I'd go out there and bring my drum sticks and I loved it, you know. That was my moment, you know. I'd still do it."
TOOL drummer Danny Carey told The Pulse Of Radio that he played one of his more memorable early gigs on Halloween. "I think it was probably '87 or maybe '88, and I was playing a Halloween show with GREEN JELLO, the PYGMY LOVE CIRCUS and HAUNTED GARAGE, the three kind of big psycho bands of L.A. at that time," he said. "That was a pretty memorable night. That was kind of when I had first moved to L.A. too, I guess, so it was one of my first really heavy L.A. experiences, seeing all the weirdos coming out of the woodwork."
METALLICA's James Hetfield shared an embarrassing childhood memory about a costume he once had to wear. "I wanted to be Batman, but my mom made me a suit. You know, she was good at sewing, and she made me this thing, and I was like a giant tiger with the ears and everything. [laughs] Oh my God! There's a picture of me at school in the, you know, the school picture, and I got this goofy outfit on with the little whiskers and everyone else is like cowboys and stuff, and I'm sittin' there in my tiger outfit, and I don't think it was what I wanted to be. But that's what happened. [laughs]"
Guitarist Virus from David Draiman's band DEVICE did dress up as Batman when he was a kid, although he doesn't expect to put on the cowl this year. "God, I was Batman and I loved it. Felt invincible, man. I don't think I'll be busting it out this year [laughs] and my stepdaughters are old enough where they don't do the fun stuff where they dress — you know, they're not little girls anymore, so I'll probably just — I'll just sit home and give out candy."

Video: ICED EARTH Performs New Song 'If I Could See You' In Paris
Fan-filmed video footage of North American metallers ICED EARTH performing a brand new song, "If I Could See You", on October 25 at Bataclan in Paris, France as the support act for VOLBEAT can be seen below.
ICED EARTH will release its new album, "Plagues Of Babylon", in January 2014 via Century Media Records. The cover artwork was created and illustrated by Eliran Kantor (TESTAMENT, ATHEIST, SIGH, ANACRUSIS, GWAR).
Says ICED EARTH vocalist/guitarist Jon Schaffer: "This is a seriously heavy album with a seriously brutal album cover. I'm sure it will go down as a classic in the epic ICED EARTH catalog."
"Plagues Of Babylon" track listing:
01. Plagues Of Babylon02. Democide03. The Culling04. Among The Living Dead05. Resistance06. The End? 07. If I Could See You08. Cthulhu09. Peacemaker10. Parasite11. Spirit Of The Times12. Highwayman
Speaking to Metal4 magazine at the Rockharz open-air festival in Germany in July, Schaffer said about the upcoming CD: "It's a bit of a different thing for us, because it's half of a concept and the other half is [standalone] tracks. Musically, I think it's just another step in the right direction. It's really heavy, it's very melodic. It has a really epic feeling. Even though there isn't, like, a monster, long epic track, the overall feel of the songs is very epic. I mean, there's no 'Dante's Inferno' or 'Gettysburg' or the 'Something Wicked' trilogy or something like that on here, but I'm really happy with it."
ICED EARTH recently parted ways with drummer Brent Smedley for "personal family reasons." He has since been replaced by Raphael Saini (CHAOSWAVE).
ICED EARTH has been hitting it relentlessly, with the recent studio album, "Dystopia", being the most toured album in the band's illustrious history.
One of the many highlights of the "World Dystopia Tour", a headline show at the historic Kourion Amphitheatre in Cyprus, was recently released on Blu-ray, DVD and in many other formats under the title "Live In Ancient Kourion".
"Dystopia" was released in October 2011 via Century Media Records. The CD marked the band's recording debut with singer Stu Block (INTO ETERNITY), who joined ICED EARTH in March 2011 following the departure of Matt Barlow. | 0

NAUSEA Signs With WILLOWTIP RECORDS
Willowtip Records has announced the signing of Los Angeles grind pioneers NAUSEA.
NAUSEA, spearheaded by guitarist/vocalist Oscar Garcia, along with their sister band TERRORIZER (which also featured Garcia), helped define the grindcore genre in the late 1980s. Now Garcia, along with longtime partner in crime Eric Castro (MAJESTY), has been joined by two new members: bassist Alejandro CB (POUNDER, CHEMICAL BITCHES) and guitarist Leon del Muerte (MURDER CONSTRUCT, ex-EXHUMED, PHOBIA, IMPALED, INTRONAUT) to unleash a ferocious new full-length album via Willowtip Records: "Condemned To The System". The CD was recorded by Sean Vahle (DIS, PHOBIA, EXHUMED, MURDER CONSTRUCT, INTRONAUT) and mixed and mastered by Alejandro Corredor (INQUISITION, EXHUMED, ENSLAVED).
Due on January 7, 2014, "Condemned To The System" will feature a slew of new grinders like "…And We Suffer" and "Hate And Deception", alongside vintage and previously unreleased tracks like "Falsely Accused" and "Does God Need Help?"
NAUSEA has been very active in the live arena for the past three years, performing at the Maryland Death Fest, Power Of The Riff festival, and playing shows alongside REPULSION, NAILS, NASUM, and most recently a European tour that included spots at Bloodshed in Holland, Hell Inside and Metal Gegen Krebs festivals in Germany. Next year the band is scheduled to play Mexico and Europe again.

Audio: GUNS N' ROSES, MOTÖRHEAD, TESTAMENT, Ex-IRON MAIDEN Members Pay Tribute To MICHAEL JACKSON
Just in time for Halloween, a scarily impressive alliance of metal and hard rock luminaries has formed to create one of the most depraved abominations of musical crossbreeding in history — an all-metal tribute to the King Of Pop, Michael Jackson, available on CD October 22! Never before have such quintessential pop hits as "Beat It", "Thriller", "Billy Jean" and "Man In The Mirror" been so completely transformed, substituting softly stylized synths with crunchy, distorted guitars, replacing the pitter patter of programmed beats with pulverizing double bass acoustic drums, and topping it off with some of the finest, most powerful vocals in metal. When completed, these reinventions pay due respect to the expertly crafted melodies and songs that made Michael Jackson one of the most beloved figures in all of music, and offer legions of metalheads a reason to simultaneously grab their crotches and throw the horns in celebration!
Spearheaded by producer/musician Bob Kulick, who also helped in the arrangement of these cover versions, the project was in his words a "labor of love" for all involved. Exclaims Kulick: "We made these awesome songs kick ass while still being faithful to the original versions. Add killer players like Doug Aldrich, Billy Sheehan, Bruce Kulick, Rudy Sarzo, Tony Franklin, Craig Goldy, Bumblefoot, Phil Campbell and you've got some real MAGIC!" Rudy Sarzo, a stalwart of the metal scene as a member of both QUIET RIOT and QUEENSRŸCHE, reflects: "Michael Jackson's music is synonymous with iconic rockers such as Eddie Van Halen, Steve Stevens and Slash. So it's only fitting that the rock community pays tribute to this legendary artist with Metal Mike!" And FISHBONE's Angelo Moore expresses great enthusiasm for his contribution, saying: "I never thought I would hear myself doing a cover of 'The Way You Make Me Feel', but it's an honor and a dream come true. We put a different twist on it to give it a whole new light, or maybe I should say a whole new dark!"
In addition to the legends Kulick enlisted, several of today's modern metal figures also contributed, including Elias Soriano of NONPOINT, who comments, "It was my pleasure to do this tribute to MJ. My admiration for the talent and history he has given to music overall will be hard to replace. My only wish is that I did him justice with my performance." Jason Myers of ICARUS WITCH, one of the current flag bearers in the traditional metal scene, declares: "When we were approached by Cleopatra to contribute to the Michael Jackson tribute we were honored (due to the legendary talent already on board), but a bit skeptical about how our fans would react...Choosing an unorthodox hit took a bit of pressure off and allowed us to put more of ourselves into the track."
Finally, bassist Tony Franklin, who has worked with everyone from LED ZEPPELIN's Jimmy Page to PINK FLOYD's David Gilmour to WHITESNAKE, confirms the surprise and astonishment many felt during the creation of the album, "The first thing I noticed was how easily these out and out pop songs translated to the metal genre. That is the sign of, one, a great song and, two, a great production and arrangement." He goes on to note that it wasn't just the songs that were transformed when Metal met Pop on these recordings; the performers themselves were transformed. He states, "It was very cool to see how the guest artists interpreted these songs as it brought out a different side of them - a side we wouldn't usually hear."
"Thriller – A Metal Tribute To Michael Jackson" features appearances by the following musicians:
* Chuck Billy (TESTAMENT)* Danny Worsnop (ASKING ALEXANDRIA)* Billy Sheehan (MR. BIG)* Angelo Moore (FISHBONE)* Doug Aldrich (WHITESNAKE, DIO)* Rudy Sarzo (QUIET RIOT, OZZY OSBOURNE, DIO)* Lajon Witherspoon (SEVENDUST)* Bruce Kulick (KISS)* Tony Franklin (THE FIRM)* Priya Panda (DIEMONDS)* Ron "Bumblefoot" Thal (GUNS N' ROSES)* Corey Glover (LIVING COLOUR)* Phil Campbell (MOTÖRHEAD)* Elias Soriano (NONPOINT)* Doug Pinnick (KING'S X)* Chris Jericho (FOZZY)* Paul Di'Anno (IRON MAIDEN)* Craig Goldy (DIO)* Lonnie Jordan (WAR)
Track listing:
01. Thriller - Chuck Billy (TESTAMENT)02. Man In The Mirror - Danny Worsnop (ASKING ALEXANDRIA) & Billy Sheehan (MR. BIG)03. The Way You Make Me Feel - Angelo Moore (FISHBONE), Doug Aldrich (WHITESNAKE), & Rudy Sarzo (QUEENSRŸCHE)04. ADRENALINE MOB To Release New Album In February
ADRENALINE MOB is scheduled to release its sophomore album on February 18, 2014 through an as-yet-undisclosed label.
The band's current lineup includes Russell Allen (vocals; also of SYMPHONY X), Mike Orlando (guitar) and John Moyer (bass; also of DISTURBED).
Drummer Mike Portnoy (FLYING COLORS, THE WINERY DOGS, DREAM THEATER, AVENGED SEVENFOLD) quit ADRENALINE MOB in June due to "scheduling conflicts." A replacement drummer has not yet been announced.
The first photo of the new ADRENALINE MOB lineup can be seen below.
In a recent interview with Brazil's "Wikimetal", Allen stated about Portnoy's departure from ADRENALINE MOB: "He's been, obviously, real busy with THE WINERY DOGS. The truth of it is we wanna keep working, we wanna keep doing ADRENALINE MOB and we don't wanna wait around for Mike to have the time [to put into ADRENALINE MOB]. And he doesn't know when he will have the time again, so that's really what's going down. Mike Portnoy was asked to be in the band by myself. Me and Orlando had already written all the material, so [ADRENALINE MOB's debut album] 'Omertá' was completely finished before Mike joined the act. And it's a bummer, but he's got his sights on other things, and he's not gonna stick around. So we wish him the best of luck, but the MOB's gotta go on."
ADRENALINE MOB released "Covertá", an eight-track EP featuring cover versions of some of the group's favorite songs, on March 12. | 0

FIREWIND: Fan-Filmed Video Footage Of Sydney Concert
Fan-filmed video footage of Greek/American metallers FIREWIND performing their cover version of the Michael Sembello song "Maniac" on October 31 at Manning Bar in Sydnay, Australia can be seen below.
FIREWIND celebrated its 10th anniversary by releasing a live album on June 24 via Century Media Records in Europe. Entitled "Apotheosis - Live 2012", the CD contains 17 songs recorded at special anniversary shows in Greece as well as all over Europe during the band's "Few Against Many" tour in 2012. With a playing time of 69 minutes, the effort is a great overview of the band's career so far, which consists of seven studio albums. It also marks FIREWIND's final release with singer Apollo Papathanasio, who decided to leave the group at the end of last year. He has since been replaced by Kelly Sundown Carpenter (ADAGIO, BEYOND TWILIGHT) as session frontman for all 2013 live activities.
The cover artwork for "Apotheosis - Live 2012", which was released as a digipak in its first limited-edition pressing, was designed by FIREWIND's longtime partner in all design matters, Gustavo Sazes (ARCH ENEMY, ANGRA, DREAM EVIL) based on live photography by Hans-W. Rock.
In a recent interview with Metal Assault, Gus G. stated about Apollo's departure: "People following the band for the past few years would know that we've had different session guys at the live shows even when Apollo was in the band because he just had to skip a few tours during the year. So whenever the schedule was getting too heavy for him and he would have to take care of stuff back home, we had to get other guys. So this time, he had to skip again and he was like, 'You know, instead of holding you guys back, I might as well just quit.' I think he did the right thing for him, for us as well, because we can only do that [getting session vocalists] so many times and we're better off trying to find a new permanent guy instead of getting replacements for a tour. So at least now we know that we have to find somebody new, and in a sense it's a bit sad, but at the same time it's some sort of relief."
Asked how Carpenter is doing as the touring replacement for Papathanasio, Gus told Metal Shock Finland: "He's fantastic, this guy. Everybody who sees him perform live, their jaws are dropped immediately. They're, like, 'Wow!' It's amazing what this guy can do with his voice. And he's such a nice guy, too. I mean, we started out with Kelly, 'cause we didn't know him. And he really nailed it on the songs, he killed it. We hired the guy to go out with us and do the U.S. tour and the festivals, not really committing to further plans. We kind of take it day by day and see how it works between us, and so far it's been really good. Right now, there are no plans for us to go back in the studio very quickly, so we'll see when the time comes what will happen. But so far so good with Kelly. I hope it will continue."
FIREWIND's latest album, "Few Against Many", entered the official chart in Greece at No. 42 and in Germany at No. 90. Released in Europe on May 21, 2012 via Century Media Records and in North America on May 22 through DisManic, Inc. via eOne Distribution, the CD was mixed by Jason Suecof and Eyal Levi at Audiohammer Studios (TRIVIUM, ALL THAT REMAINS, DEATH ANGEL) in Sanford, Florida. | 0

CRADLE OF FILTH Premiers New Short Film For 'The Curse Of Venus Aversa'
British extreme metallers CRADLE OF FILTH have premièred a new short film to promote their upcoming foray into graphic novels, "The Curse Of Venus Aversa". Produced by Greylight Studios, the movie purports to show a secret ceremony in New Orleans recorded on a hidden camera. The graphic novel itself is co-written by vocalist Dani Filth and New Orleans comic book author Kurt Amacker, and takes place in a Victorian world populated by images, themes, and horrors drawn from the Filth's sprawling back catalog. The entire 76-page graphic novel is rendered in haunting black and white art by illustrator Montgomery Borror.
The initial Kickstarter campaign to support the project smashed through its goal in only four days, but continues through November 9. The campaign also offers fans a chance to order limited edition t-shirts and work shirts by Sigh Co. Graphics, and even handmade Dani Filth voodoo doll from Quarter Kids. The new film shows a ritual in New Orleans recorded on a hidden camera, in which the dolls are blessed by the city's premiere vampire storyteller, Lord Chaz Howell.
From his home in Suffolk, Filth spoke on the movie, "I understood that the doll blessing ceremony took place, but things may not have gone as planned. Kurt sent me the video the other day. You'll have to watch to see what happened. Strange things seem to occur in that city."
Filth's co-author, Kurt Amacker, stated from a dark bar in the city's infamous French Quarter, "I think people need to see the film to understand what we might've uncovered here. I've still got a lot of unanswered phone calls out right now. Sometimes, New Orleans just kind of takes you. Regardless, I think people need to be careful when they accept these dolls into their homes."
The Kickstarter to promote "The Curse Of Venus Aversa" is CRADLE OF FILTH's first experiment with crowdfunding, and the group couldn't be happier. Dani Filth continued, "This 'adult graphic novel' represents a new step for the band, because the reader doesn't see us running around as superheroes or anything. This is about the larger forces in the universe that may have given birth to CRADLE OF FILTH — or others like us, in centuries past." Indeed, the story centres on a disgraced poet who writes under the assumed name of Lord Daniel Impudicus. After losing his fortune and facing prosecution for obscenity, he embarks on an ether-fueled quest to solve the murder of his lover, Gabrielle.
Now, with little more than a week left in the campaign, fans will have one last chance to pre-order their copies of the graphic novel, the shirts, and the dolls. Amacker emphasized the urgency for fans to pledge before the campaign's conclusion. "This is the first printing of the book. There may be a second one next year, but it will have a different cover (also by Jamie Huntley). The shirts and the dolls may be limited to the Kickstarter campaign. We're really making as many as people order." After taking a sip of his drink and staring across the bar, he concluded, "Seriously, be careful with the dolls."
Fans that wish to see the short film should visit the band's Kickstarter page. | 0

VEIL OF MAYA Re-Signs With SUMERIAN RECORDS
Chicago-based VEIL OF MAYA has re-signed with Sumerian Records, the label which the band has called its home since the group's inception. This comes on the heels of the band releasing the brand new, blistering track, "Subject Zero", which can be streamed in the YouTube clip below. The song will be available on iTunes, Google Play and Amazon MP3 on November 11.
Don't miss VEIL OF MAYA on its North American fall tour starting November 8 with STRUCTURES, NORTHLANE, VILDHJARTA and HERE COMES THE KRAKEN.
VEIL OF MAYA states: "We are very happy to re-sign with Sumerian Records. We have built a long-lasting relationship with the people there, and believe that they are stronger than ever. We couldn't see our band going anywhere else after our history, so therefore Sumerian has been and will continue to be the label the band calls home.
"As a band, we feel like we have grown tremendously. We are all ready, focused and want to put out the hardest material possible.
"The new stuff that has been written is some of the best Veil yet.
"We are really excited to see everyone out on our next headlining tour. We feel this tour is a great mix of bands, most of which haven't been to America before, so let's make sure they feel welcomed here.
"We are stoked for everyone to hear the new track we just released and see what we have been preparing.
"Expect a new VEIL OF MAYA full-length album in 2014 via Sumerian Records."
Added Sumerian founder Ash Avildsen: "For years, VEIL OF MAYA has been a flagship heavy band for Sumerian and continues to play a crucial role in our progressive metal movement. I am very grateful and excited to have such a talented, hard-working and sagacious group of dudes in the family for many more years to come."
VEIL OF MAYA's third full-length album, "Eclipse", was released in February 2012 via Sumerian Records. Produced by djent hero Misha Mansoor of PERIPHERY, the CD was previously described in a press release as "a stunningly concise yet diverse metal record, packed full of death-metal chops, tech-metal grooves, progressive arrangements and hardcore rip-yer-throat-out attitude." | 0

THE RODS To Release 'Great Big Fake Ones' Single, Video
According to Ithaca.com, Cortland, New York-based metal veterans THE RODS will independently release a new single/video, "Great Big Fake Ones", via iTunes and CD Baby. The track was laid down in Cortland and Carbondale using home studios for the most part. The clip will be filmed with Syracuse-based director Dave Porter.
"We played [the song] for a couple of people and the reactions have been very positive," bassist Garry Bordonaro said. "It's something that will certainly make you smile."
Regarding the recording process for "Great Big Fake Ones", Bordonaro said: "Recording sessions take time and money, neither of which we have. And we don't all live in the same place, so getting together is difficult."
He continued: "We just picked away at it. We're old studio dogs. We did the 'In The Raw' (Shrapnel, 1983) album in a few days and actually recorded about two albums' worth of material. We just blew through it. That was always our hallmark — fast, dirty and cheap."
David "Rock" Feinstein of THE RODS is the cousin of Ronnie James Dio (both played together in ELF) and THE RODS drummer Carl Canedy is an acclaimed metal producer who has worked on classic early releases by MEGADETH, ANTHRAX and OVERKILL.
THE RODS' seventh release overall (and sixth release overall for Niji Entertainment Group, a label that was created by Ronnie and Wendy Dio) was titled "Vengeance" and was made available in May 2011. The album arrived on the heels of Feinstein's solo album, "Bitten By The Beast".
The first single off "Vengeance" was "The Code", which featured vocals from none other than Ronnie James Dio (one of the very last songs that Ronnie ever recorded, before his untimely death in May of 2010). | 0

Classic DEEP PURPLE Gets Boxed On 'The Audio Fidelity Collection'
Hot on the heels of the news that they have been nominated for 2014 induction into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame, classic rockers DEEP PURPLE will be feted with a deluxe, limited-edition boxed set featuring 24-Karat Gold CDs of four of their best-selling albums, according to Audio Fidelity president Marshall Blonstein. November 19 is the release date for "Deep Purple: The Audio Fidelity Collection", which will include "In Rock" (1970), "Fireball" (1971), "Machine Head" (1972) and "Who Do We Think We Are!" (1973). The four CDs, containing such breakthrough DEEP PURPLE hits as "Smoke On The Water" and "Woman From Tokyo", will be housed, appropriately, in an embossed metallic container, each engraved with a unique edition number, and will be sold through both online and traditional retail outlets. "The Audio Fidelity Collection" features the legendary second lineup of DEEP PURPLE, which originally formed in 1967 in Hertfordshire, north of London. By 1970, the pioneering hard-rock/metal quintet consisted of guitarist Ritchie Blackmore, vocalist Ian Gillan, keyboardist Jon Lord, bassist Roger Glover and drummer Ian Paice. Originally issued in the U.S. by Warner Bros. Records, the four albums represent the band at the peak of its popularity and creative powers. The double-platinum "Machine Head" reached No. 7 on Billboard's Top Albums chart; "Fireball", "In Rock" and "Who Do We Think We Are!" all were certified gold. "Woman From Tokyo" (from "Who Do We Think We Are!") and "Smoke On The Water" ("Machine Head") were Top 10 singles and remain staples of classic-rock radio. (Reflecting in 2012 on DEEP PURPLE's long overdue nomination for Hall Of Fame induction, TOTO guitarist Steve Lukather commented, "What's the first song every kid learns to play? 'Smoke On The Water'. And they're not [yet] in the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame?") All four discs in "The Audio Fidelity Collection" will contain original album artwork and will feature the remastering done by engineer Steve Hoffman when the individual CDs were previously issued by Audio Fidelity. "They have been unavailable for five years," says label president Blonstein, "and since then we've had numerous requests from customers to 'reissue the reissue.' So we decided to offer them again, but in this special boxed-set edition." Indeed, copies of the earlier "Machine Head" and "Who Do We Think We Are!" currently fetch handsome prices on sites like Amazon and eBay. To distinguish the forthcoming CDs from the earlier editions-and to enhance the unique collectability aspects of the boxed set-the new discs' outer sleeves come with gold, instead of black slip cases. DEEP PURPLE, which has sold more than 100 million records worldwide, was announced (on October 16) as a nominee for the 29th annual Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame induction ceremonies, which will be held in New York City in April of 2014. Inductee selections will be announced in December. Founded in 2002 by Marshall Blonstein, Audio Fidelity specializes in deluxe reissues of classic popular-music recordings for the audiophile and collector markets. The Camarillo, California-based label is best known for its 24-karat Gold CDs and its virgin-vinyl album editions, though it also releases DVD titles. Audio Fidelity emerged out of the pioneering DCC Compact Classics label that Blonstein started in 1986, following stints as president of Island Records and co-founder of Ode Records (where he helped make Carole King's "Tapestry" one of the best-selling albums of all time and built the cult-film franchises "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" and Cheech & Chong's "Up In Smoke").

BLACK SABBATH's TONY IOMMI Recaps South American Tour
Legendary BLACK SABBATH guitarist Tony Iommi has posted the following message on his official web site:
"Many thanks to everyone that came to see us on our tour to South and Latin America. Quite an experience with huge crowds, I'm told 74,000 in Sao Paulo and 60,000 in Mexico City. Also, thanks to MEGADETH, great band and really good people to work with. Hope they enjoyed it as well.
"Two grumbles — no thanks to whoever was coughing and sneezing on the overnight Air France flight down and gave me a dreadful cold virus, or whoever stole my trainers from the back of the stage in Buenos Aires! Otherwise, all pretty good. Colder at night than I was expecting but an amazing reception from all the fans.
"It's going to be strange playing indoors again, but outdoors in Helsinki in November, I don't think so!
"Looking forward to being in Europe. I had to miss out when I was taken ill in 2012, so it'll be great to get another chance to play there."
Iommi revealed last month that he headed right back into the hospital for more cancer treatments as soon as BLACK SABBATH's North American tour was completed. SABBATH has been touring in support of "13", the band's first album in 35 years to feature Iommi, bassist Geezer Butler and singer Ozzy Osbourne playing together.
Iommi revealed in January of 2012 that he had been diagnosed with lymphoma, which is described by the Mayo Clinic as "a cancer of the lymphatic system, the body's disease-fighting network."
He described his "infusion" treatments to the Birmingham Mail earlier this year, explaining, "I have to have an antibody administered by drip every six weeks or so to keep the lymphoma in check. It sort of coats the cancer cells, stops it from going anywhere else. I have to come back home no matter where I might be in the world."
He added, "The tour dates are arranged so that I can always get back for treatment. It's the only way I can manage my illness and keep on the road. I'd love to play more shows . . . but my health has to be sorted out first."
The legendary guitarist said that his treatment is a relatively new process and doctors are not sure what all the side effects might be. He also said that it "takes around 10 days to fully recover from each round of treatment, but if that's what it takes, I have to accept it."

Video: TATE-Less QUEENSRŸCHE Performs In Langen
Fan-filmed video footage of the Todd La Torre-fronted version of QUEENSRŸCHE performing on October 30 at Neue Stadthalle in Langen, Germany can be seen below.
The Todd La Torre-fronted version of QUEENSRŸCHE recently filmed a "mini movie," with the tracks "Spore", "Midnight Lullaby", "A World Without" and "X2" providing the score to a 10-plus minute story, dubbed "Queensrÿche: Ad Lucem". The film was created by Veva Entertainment Co. with director Daniel Andres Gomez Bagby and producer Marco De Molina and was filmed last month on location at Central City Stages in Los Angeles.
QUEENSRŸCHE's new, self-titled album sold around 13,500 copies in the United States in its first week of release to land at position No. 23 on The Billboard 200 chart. The record arrived in stores on June 25 via Century Media Records.
"Queensrÿche" marks the debut release from the lineup comprised of Todd La Torre (vocals; ex-CRIMSON GLORY), Michael Wilton (guitar), Parker Lundgren (guitar), Eddie Jackson (bass) and Scott Rockenfield (drums). The drums for the album were recorded at London Bridge Studios in Seattle, Washington with producer James "Jimbo" Barton — the man who engineered and mixed the band's classic 1988 LP, "Operation: Mindcrime", and its 1990 follow-up, "Empire", and co-produced 1994's "Promised Land". The rest of the music and vocals were laid down at several different facilities on the West Coast. The cover artwork was created by Craig Howell, who has previously worked on designs for "Star Wars", SLIPKNOT and "American Idol", to name a few.

An audio recording of the song "2112" — taken from "Rush: Clockwork Angels Tour" — can be streamed using the SoundCloud widget below. "Rush: Clockwork Angels Tour" was filmed and recorded last November at the American Airlines Arena in Dallas, Texas, during RUSH's highly successful "Clockwork Angels" tour. The eleven month-marathon world tour crossed North America twice and ventured overseas to Europe in support of the band's acclaimed 2012 studio release "Clockwork Angels". In capturing the tour's electrifying three-hour set, "Rush: Clockwork Angels Tour" pairs RUSH classics ("Tom Sawyer", "The Spirit Of Radio", "2112"), with a nod to the '80s RUSH era ("The Analog Kid", "Territories", "Subdivisions") alongside newly reworked arrangements specifically for the tour featuring the Clockwork Angels String Ensemble ("Headlong Flight", "YYZ", "Red Sector A"). The string section marks the first time the trio has brought additional musicians on the road with them. To showcase their latest studio release, the epic setlist also features nine tracks off "Clockwork Angels". Other highlights include tracks rarely performed and never before recorded live ("The Body Electric", "Middletown Dreams"), in addition to three separate drum solos by the incomparable Neil Peart.
Beyond the incredible live performances, the DVD includes a 25-minute tour documentary, featuring interviews with all three members and exclusive, behind-the-scenes footage. Titled "Can't Stop Thinking Big", the piece offers a glimpse into the inner workings of the RUSH tour machine and insight into the band members themselves. Other special features on the DVD include the trio of hilarious shorts created specifically for the tour as well as interviews and outtakes captured during their filming. Additional filmed sketches and a rare soundcheck performance of perennial favourite "Limelight" round out the exclusive offerings.
"Rush: Clockwork Angels Tour" comes on the heels of Anthem/Atlantic's September 30 release of "Vapor Trails Remixed", a newly remixed version of the band's 2002 album "Vapor Trails" and 7-disc boxed set "The Studio Albums 1989-2007", which features every studio album RUSH recorded for Atlantic Records.

EYEHATEGOD Announces New Drummer
Following an intensely moving Joey LaCaze tribute performance at the first annual Housecore Horror Film Festival this past weekend, a set which featured Dale Crover from the mighty MELVINS holding down the drum kit, EYEHATEGOD continues moving forward with new drummer Aaron Hill. Hill comes by way of New Orleans' local acts MISSING MONUMENTS and MOUNTAIN OF WIZARD.
Hill will play his first official show with EYEHATEGOD tonight at the world famous House Of Shock with horror surf band THE UNNATURALS. From there, the band will ride on to take Columbus' Arosa Villa on November 1 and bring things to a chaotic close with two back-to-back nights of mischief at Chicago's Cobra Lounge November 2 and November 3. Later next month, EYEHATEGOD will stomp their way through Brooklyn, New York; West Chester, Pennsylvania; and Quincy, Massachusetts; with additional live takeovers to be announced in the weeks to come. The ever-elusive new EYEHATEGOD LP is moving closer to release, with mixes being done by renowned sound wizard Sanford Parker as we speak.
LaCaze passed away on August 23 in New Orleans after a very successful five-week U.K. and European tour with EYEHATEGOD. He also performed ceremonial voodoo drumming and in numerous solo experimental electronic projects. Doctors confirmed to family members the cause as respiratory failure. He also suffered from severe long-term asthma.

DEICIDE: 'Thou Begone' Lyric Video Released
Florida death metal veterans DEICIDE will release their new album, "In The Minds Of Evil", on November 25 via Century Media Records. The CD was recorded at AudioHammer Studios in Sanford, Florida with producer Jason Suecof (TRIVIUM, AUGUST BURNS RED, THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER, ALL THAT REMAINS, WHITECHAPEL, DEVILDRIVER).
"In The Minds Of Evil" track listing:
01. In The Minds Of Evil02. Thou Begone03. Godkill04. Beyond Salvation05. Misery Of One06. Between The Flesh And The Void07. Even The Gods Can Bleed08. Trample The Cross09. Banished By Evil10. Kill The Light Of Christ11. End The Wrath Of God
The official lyric video for the song "Thou Begone" can be seen below.
The cover artwork (see below) was taken from Australian artist Simon Cowell's painting Power Of The Mind, and offers a fitting face to the album's 11 tracks.
DEICIDE drummer Steve Asheim recently told Decibel magazine about the band's working relationship with Suecof: "It's awesome! I've known Jason since '08. I had been going out to do the ORDER OF ENNEAD records with him. The last DEICIDE record we did with Mark [Lewis], but I've known Jason a long time, so I asked him if he was into it. He said, 'Absolutely!' I wanted to get one done ovith him before something happens. You never know."
Regarding the lyrical themes covered on the new DEICIDE album, Asheim said: "[The lyrics] are typical Glen Benton. Blasphemous, brutal rhetoric. We're going to get down and dirty this Blasphemous, brutal rhetoric. We're going to get down and dirty this time around, so expect the lyrics to be brutal."
According to Asheim, longtime fans will pick up on nuances inspired by the almighty "Legion" effort. "Jason wanted to capture the 'Legion' feel," the drummer said. "We're wanting Glen's vocals to sound more old-school. So, it's a bit of the new with a little throwback action."
As for DEICIDE's time at Audiohammer, Asheim said: "It's pretty cut-and-dried these days. I've known Jason a few years. I kind of know his methodology, how he works. It's a far drive, so we'll spend two or three nights there. Once we knock it out, we'll end up partying. We repeat that the next day."
"To Hell With God" sold 2,200 copies in the United States in its first week of release.
DEICIDE's previous CD, "Till Death Do Us Part", opened with 2,900 copies back in May 2008.

IMPENDING DOOM: 'Doomsday' Video Available
"Doomsday", the new video from Southern California juggernauts IMPENDING DOOM, can be seen below. The song comes off the band's new album, "Death Will Reign", which is due on November 5 via eOne Music. The CD was recorded, produced and mixed by Will Putney at The Machine Shop (SUICIDE SILENCE, LAMB OF GOD).
"IMPENDING DOOM have never sounded uglier and more desperate than on 'Death Will Reign'," says Alternative Press.
IMPENDING DOOM has crafted a stunning, deliberate and unrelenting collection with a sense of purpose, drive and continuity. "Death Will Reign" is the culmination of all that has come before, mining the bleak darkness and "scare" factor of last year's "Baptized in Filth" and the dynamic fury of "There Will Be Violence" and "The Serpent Servant". All of those elements are injected with the return of the gritty rawness found within the unpolished grind of "Nailed. Dead. Risen", IMPENDING DOOM's squealing cult-classic debut that introduced the world to their unique combination of reverent worship and sick gore-core, dubbed Goreship. "We wanted this album to sound very natural and unpolished," explains IMPENDING DOOM's longtime bassist David Sittig, a part of the lineup since before the first album's release. "There's no crazy digital stuff. There are no fake drums. We wanted it to have the feel of our first album with the songwriting from the last one. We've gotten better at song structures and so forth over the years, but we wanted to recapture that old-school vibe, too."
IMPENDING DOOM's fourth full-length album, "Baptized In Filth", sold 4,600 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 106 on The Billboard 200 chart. Released on March 13, 2012, the CD was produced by Andreas Magnusson (THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER, THE FAMINE) and was mixed by Machine, who has previously worked with LAMB OF GOD, SUICIDE SILENCE and DEMON HUNTER, among others. | +1

Portland, Oregon's RED FANG has premiered "Black Water", a bonus track off the band's third studio album, "Whales And Leeches". Check it out below.
"Whales And Leeches" came out on October 15 via Relapse Records. Beyond the standard CD, LP and digital formats, the effort was made available in deluxe CD, deluxe double vinyl and deluxe digital editions which will feature two bonus tracks (see the full track listing below).

NEWSTED: 'King Of The Underdogs' Video Released
"King Of The Underdogs", the new video from NEWSTED — the new band featuring former METALLICA, VOIVOD and FLOTSAM AND JETSAM bassist Jason Newsted and STAIND guitarist Mike Mushok — can be seen below. The clip was filmed in September in Oakland, California with director Leon Melas, who previously helmed NEWSTED's video for the track "Soldierhead".
In a recent interview with Revolver magazine, Newsted stated about the lyrical inspiration for "King Of The Underdogs": "'King Of The Underdogs' is kind of a personal thing almost. It's, like, the highest rated of the underrated. I think people are rooting for me to win as they do with underdogs."
"King Of The Underdogs" is featured on NEWSTED's debut album, "Heavy Metal Music", which sold nearly 8,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to land at position No. 40 on The Billboard 200 chart. The CD was made available on August 6 in North America via Chophouse Records/Collective Sounds and August 5 in Europe through Spinefarm Records. Jason told Billboard.com the 11-song album was very similar to the band's debut EP, "Metal", which opened with around 6,200 units to debut at No. 62. "The EP was always intended to be the primer, a sampler of what was to come on the LP," he said. "It's all metal all the time. It's not all fast, but it is all heavy."
Regarding how the material for NEWSTED's debut album came together, Jason told Loudwire: "It started out as my seeds for the first eleven songs that I made on my GarageBand thing. I wrote all the tracks — guitars, bass, drums, everything and gave them to Jessie [Farnsworth, guitar] and Jesus [Mendez Jr., drums] and had them go learn it, put their artistry on it and so it was collaborative in that way for the first batch. Like the four songs on the EP came from that initial eleven, so that's how those songs went. Each day as we get deeper into the songs, the collaboration gets deeper as well. I have come a long way from my tunnel vision of 'Only my ideas are good enough' bullshit, and I'm a lot more open to everyone's ideas and the artistry of each person to make it what it is. And three heads is better than one and that kind of thing. So it has become more collaborative as we go. I've written ten more since that time in October last year and a few of them have made their way onto this LP now. Once again, they were all my seeds, but now that we have Mike Mushok in the band and I give the music to all three of those guys, now I have three great artists bringing back their responses and their counterpoint playing to my ideas, so it's becoming more and more collaborative every day and on this LP there will be shared writing credits on at least half of the songs with the writing credits now."
"Heavy Metal Music" track listing:
01. Heroic Dose02. Soldierhead03. ...As The Crow Flies04. Ampossible05. Long Time Dead06. Above All07. King Of The Underdogs08. Nocturnus09. Twisted Tail Of The Comet10. Kindevillusion11. Futureality
NEWSTED took part in this year's edition of Gigantour, the critically acclaimed package festival founded in 2005 by MEGADETH mainman Dave Mustaine. Also appearing on the bill were headliners MEGADETH, along with BLACK LABEL SOCIETY, DEVICE, HELLYEAH and DEATH DIVISION.
