BLACK SABBATH: Official Reunion Press Conference Video Highlights
 The original lineup of the legendary heavy metal band BLACK SABBATH announced on Friday (November 11) that it was reuniting for its first new album in 33 years and a 2012 world tour.
Singer Ozzy Osbourne, guitarist Tony Iommi, bassist Geezer Butler and drummer Bill Ward revealed during a press conference at legendary Sunset Strip club Whisky a Go Go they were working on new material for the album which will be made available Vertigo/Universal Republic in the U.S. and Vertigo in all other territories. There is no title as yet but it will be produced by Rick Rubin, who has previously worked with METALLICA, SLIPKNOT, SLAYER and SYSTEM OF A DOWN, among many others. The band hopes to begin recording the CD in January for a fall 2012 release. A world tour will follow, including an appearance at the U.K.'s Download festival on June 10, 2012.
"It's now or never. We are getting along great. Everything's really good," Iommi said.
"It's like putting on an old glove. It's fantastic," he added.
The band credited Rubin's persistence for helping get them back in the studio. "He phoned us every five minutes," Iommi joked.
"It was the obvious choice," explained Osbourne of Rubin as producer. "I've known Rick for many years."
"It was time," said Osbourne of the reunion. "The timing was right."
Osbourne went on to reveal that they've written "seven or eight" new songs for the album, which they plan to release at the end of next year.
Butler added that the new songs are "back to the old SABBATH style and sound. The stuff that Tony's been playing is absolutely brilliant."
Rubin, who was also present at the event, said: "We've been working on developing material and we're halfway into the writing process. It's inspiring hearing what's coming out."

The Ozzy-fronted lineup of SABBATH hasn't toured since 2005 and last appeared together when they were inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in 2006. They attempted to cut a new album — their first since 1978's "Never Say Die!" — with Rick Rubin in 1999, but the sessions fell apart after just a couple of songs and Osbourne turned his attention to his solo career. Former SEPULTURA Drummer JEAN DOLABELLA: \'I\'m Very Happy And Excited With My New Path\'
 Former SEPULTURA drummer Jean Dolabella has released the following statement regarding his departure from the band:
"First of all, I'd like to thank SEPULTURA — Andreas [Kisser], Derrick [Green] and Paulo [Xisto Pinto Jr.] — for everything and especially all the fans all around the world. Since the begining I felt really welcome by all of you and I'd like to thank from the bottom of my heart all the fans and friends and everybody that have always supported me and my work as a musician. You are, and will always be, very special to me. We had great moments and I'm sure we've created very good stuff together, but it is time to part ways. Life comes in phases and I decided to start a new one.
"I wish all the best for SEPULTURA and I'm very happy and excited with my new path.
"From now on I'll focus on my work as a musician, producer and music teacher in São Paulo. I'll keep working on my project with INDIRETO [the Brazilian experimental project featuring Dolabella and SCARCÉUS guitarist Augusto Nogueira] and others that are already coming along.

VOIVOD: First \'Optical Vortex\' Episode Released
 Canadian metal innovators VOIVOD have released the first in a series of webisodes, dubbed "Optical Vortex", in which they update their fans on the band's current and upcoming activities. In the first webisode, which can be seen below, VOIVOD drummer Michel "Away" Langevin reveals that the group is expecting to enter the studio in January to begin recording its new album for a tentative summer release. METALLICA Drummer Settles Lawsuit Brought By His Former Personal Assistant
 According to the Marin Independent Journal, METALLICA drummer Lars Ulrich has settled a lawsuit brought by his former personal assistant Steven Wiig for what Wiig said was years of unpaid overtime. Wiig, 38, filed a lawsuit in February claiming that he was employed by Ulrich from 2001 to 2009, sometimes working up to 70 hours a week while Ulrich was at home and up to 80 hours a week while METALLICA was on tour. Wiig said he worked as Ulrich's chauffeur, managed his art collection, arranged scheduling and performed numerous other tasks and errands on request. Wiig said he was paid $45,000 a year and had an oral agreement for annual bonuses.
Peter Paterno, an attorney for Ulrich in Los Angeles, said that Wiig was significantly understating his compensation. According to Paterno, Wiig was paid $110,000 a year before bonuses, plus free rent and car.
Wiig (a.k.a. Swiiglor) is the drummer for PAPA WHEELIE, the "stoner punk metal" crew which also includes former METALLICA/VOIVOD bassist Jason Newsted (a.k.a. Jaylor) on guitar/vocals.

Universal, Sony/ATV To Buy EMI for $4.1 Billion
 According to The Associated Press, EMI Group Ltd. is being sold in two parts for $4.1 billion.
Universal Music Group said Friday that it has agreed to buy the recording division of EMI for 1.2 billion pounds ($1.9 billion).
Sony/ATV has reached a deal to buy the second part, the publishing division in charge of songwriting copyrights, for $2.2 billion, according to a person familiar with the matter.
The deal leaves Citigroup, EMI's owner, with liability for a pension plan worth about $600 million, a second person said.
Both people were not authorized to speak publicly and spoke on condition of anonymity.
The deal is likely to face intense regulatory scrutiny because Universal Music, a unit of Vivendi SA, is already the world's largest music company with about 27 percent of the recorded music market. Adding EMI's approximately 9 percent will give it a clear edge over Sony Corp.'s Sony Music Entertainment, the second largest.

PROTOTYPE Announces New Album Title, Track Listing
 Los Angeles-based progressive/aggressive metal band PROTOTYPE will release its third full-length album, "Catalyst", in early 2012 via Nightmare Records. Nearly two years in the making, the CD is a science-fiction-themed concept album featuring 12 tracks and over 60 minutes of all new music. The effort was produced by PROTOTYPE and is currently being mixed by Neil Kernon.
"Catalyst" will be mastered by Alan Douches and artwork will once again be created by Travis Smith.
PROTOTYPE's last album, "Continuum", was released in 2006 and featured the song "The Way It Ends", which appeared in the best-selling music video game of all time "Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock".

SEPULTURA Parts Ways With Drummer, Announces Replacement
 Brazilian/American thrashers SEPULTURA have announced the addition of drummer Eloy Casagrande (GLÓRIA, ANDRÉ MATOS) to their arsenal of world-class musicians, replacing Jean Dolabella as the band's full-time percussionist.
The 20-year-old drum prodigy from São Paulo, Brazil, who won the Modern Drummer "Undiscovered Drummer" contest as a teenager in 2006, is more than eager to begin his career with the veteran metal icons.
"When I got the invitation to join SEPULTURA, I was in shock," said Casagrande, who was born in Santo André, São Paulo, Brazil on January 29, 1991, the same year SEPULTURA's classic fourth album, "Arise", was released. "I'm a fan of the band for years; it'll be an honor to play with them."
Commented guitarist Andreas Kisser: "I'm sure Eloy will do a great job with SEPULTURA. He's already a musician who shows a lot of strength and technique, although he's young. We did a rehearsal with him and it was fantastic; he played the old and new material as if he was in the band for a long time. SEPULTURA will show the world another Brazilian talent on the drums."
Dolabella, who leaves SEPULTURA after a five-year run of relentless touring and two studio albums, will depart to focus on personal projects.
"The period we spent with Jean in the band was very positive," added Kisser. "We've recorded two great albums together and did a lot of concerts which will be in SEPULTURA's history. We only have reasons to thank him for his contribution and energy all these years."

Footage From \'Evening With\' IRON MAIDEN\'s NICKO MCBRAIN Events Posted Online
 During the German leg of Premier's "An Evening With Nicko – A Night Of Drums, Drumming And Entertainment With Iron Maiden's Nicko McBrain", Rhythm magazine set up a camera to capture his 11-piece beast being set up. The magazine also took the time to speak to Nicko's drum tech Charlie Charlesworth to find out what it's like to look after such an expansive drum kit. Check out the footage below.
Nicko McBrain hardly requires an introduction. Having joined IRON MAIDEN in 1982, Nicko has become an established and charismatic figure within the music fraternity, renowned for his humor, showmanship and live performances. He has influenced many modern drummers over a wide range of styles.
Nicko first endorsed Premier back in 1993 choosing the company's Signia kit, mounted upon a custom-built Falicon rack from America. Since then, Premier has supplied Nicko with a number of iconic custom kits to support MAIDEN's world tours, most recently for "The Final Frontier World Tour" which took the band across five continents playing to over two million fans right around the globe.

SACRIFICE Frontman To Guest On New CANCER BATS Album
 Guitarist/vocalist Rob Urbinati of Canadian thrash metal veterans SACRIFICE has issued the following update:
"Earlier this week, I got a call from none other than Eric Ratz, who engineered our 'Apocalypse Inside' album. He is presently recording the new album from Toronto band CANCER BATS, who invited me down to do a guest spot. Friday night we got together and put some vocals on the awesome track 'R.A.T.S'.

IN THIS MOMENT Drummer, Guitarist Quit To Join \'American Idol\' Rocker
 Drummer Jeff Fabb and guitarist Blake Bunzel have left Southern California's IN THIS MOMENT in order to join the backing band of "American Idol" finalist James Durbin.
Commented IN THIS MOMENT: "We are embracing this change with open arms, and a renewed spirit…. Sometimes you have to let go of what's in your hands to reach for something greater! In the meantime, we are back in the studio, writing for our new album and the new songs are sounding better than anything we've done to date. We are aiming for a summer 2012 release, so get ready and look out for a bigger and badder IN THIS MOMENT in the coming year."
IN THIS MOMENT is scheduled to enter the studio in January to begin recording its next album for a spring release via Century Media Records.
