SINGLE BULLET THEORY Signs With GOOMBA MUSIC

Philadelphia-based metal band SINGLE BULLET THEORY has inked a two-album deal with Chicago's Goomba Music. The group's new CD, "IV", contains 10 fresh tracks featuring new members John Ruszin III (guitar), Jeff Kalber (bass) and Acacio Carvalho (drums). All drum tracks for the effort were recorded at Clay Creek Studio in Newark, Delaware with engineer Nick Rotundo. The remainder of the album is being recorded at Ruszin's studio in Wenonoh, New Jersey.

NEUROSIS: Classic \'Sovereign\' EP To Be Reissued With Bonus Track

For the last 26 years, NEUROSIS have tapped into the elusive wellspring where resonance and dissonance collude, circling emotional poles where nothing is withheld, where the psyche screams for answers to Earth's ancient mysteries

Following the recent reissues of some of NEUROSIS' most seminal groundbreaking earlier albums — "Souls At Zero" and "Enemy Of The Sun" — Neurot Recordings are now prepared to unveil the details on the next installment of this reissue series, with a new pressing of the band's infamous "Sovereign" EP. Originally unveiled in 2000, the "Sovereign" EP was the first NEUROSIS release issued through the band's own then newly-founded Neurot Recordings, with the vinyl pressing handled by Hydra Head. In chronological terms, "Sovereign" served as a millennial segue between two of the band's two revered full-lengths of that era; 1999's "Times Of Grace" and 2001's "A Sun That Never Sets".

The EP, though shorter than a NEUROSIS full-length opus, is a psychotropic experience of the highest order. And to top that off, this Neurot Recordings CD reissue also includes a previously unreleased fifth track, with the inescapably feedback-tormented hymn "Misgiven" closing out the reissue, added as a special bonus to this repressing of the recordings. The reissue comes bound in an O-Card/jewel case setup like the other recent NEUROSIS reissues, with artwork completely redesigned and updated by Aaron Turner.

ANTHRAX\'s Triple Axe Attack In Italy: Video Available

ANTHRAX guitarist Scott Ian, who is sitting out nearly a dozen shows on the band's current tour in order to spend time with his family following the birth of his first child (his temporary replacement is SEPULTURA's Andreas Kisser), rejoined the group exclusively for last night's "Big Four" concert at Arena Fiera Rho in Milan, Italy, claiming halfway through ANTHRAX's set that he loves Italy too much to miss out on the opportunity to play the country again.

Fan-filmed video footage of ANTHRAX — featuring the triple axe attack of Ian, Kisser and Rob Caggiano — performing during last night's "Big Four" concert can be viewed below.

Kisser made his live debut with ANTHRAX on Saturday, July 2 at Veltins Arena in Gelsenkirchen, Germany as part of a "Big Four" show with METALLICA, SLAYER and MEGADETH.

The first shows that Scott will play with ANTHRAX after his "paternity leave" will be the July 23 Heavy T.O. festival in Toronto, Ontario and July 24 Heavy MTL festival in Montreal, Quebec (both in Canada).

Ian and Pearl Aday, welcomed a son on June 19 at 10:19 a.m. Revel Young Ian, who came into the world three weeks early, weighed in at six pounds, nine ounces.

Ian previously stated that the choice to sit out the upcoming ANTHRAX shows "was a deeply personal one" but added that "becoming a father is the biggest, best thing that's ever happened to me and it made the decision relatively easy. My priority is with my wife and the birth of our first child."

Regarding how Kisser came to fill the temporary guitarist slot, Ian said, "We chose Andreas because we feel he can do the gig better than anyone. He has the fire, the attitude, and the crushing right hand to do the gig. I've played with Andreas at the Roadrunner 25th-anniversary show, and I've gotten up and played with SEPULTURA and we are kindred spirits. We both play every show like we're going to jail the next day, like it's the last show we'll ever play. He has what it takes and he has the experience and history to fucking bring it and make these ANTHRAX shows something special. I can't wait to see and hear it for myself!!"

"Worship Music", the long-awaited new album from ANTHRAX, is due in the U.S. on September 13 via Megaforce Records (one day earlier in Europe through Nuclear Blast Records). The band's first studio release in eight years marks the return of vocalist Joey Belladonna, whose last studio work with the group was 1990's "Persistence Of Time".

AEROSMITH Hits The Studio With Producer JACK DOUGLAS

AEROSMITH entered the studio on Tuesday, July 5 with producer Jack Douglas to begin recording its long-awaited 14th studio album. "One word bout 1st day n studio 'Inspiring.'" drummer Joey Kramer tweeted yesterday. He added, "No words can describe how inspired I'm feeling in the studio right now. It's a beautiful thing." He also tweeted a photo of himself in a recording studio with Douglas (see below).

In a videotaped message that was released via AEROSMITH's official web site, bassist Tom Hamilton stated about re-teaming with Douglas, "For those of you who don't know who Jack is, he's the guy who we worked with, producing our best albums of the '70s — 'Get Your Wings', 'Toys In The Attic' and 'Rocks'. And it's really gonna be cool, because there's no one that knows more about the soul of this band and the creative part of this band [than] Jack. We worked with him on [2004's covers CD] 'Honkin' On Bobo', but that wasn't all original material — most of that was not original material. This time it's gonna be all-new AEROSMITH songs."

He continued, "When people say, 'What was it like to work with Jack back then?' all I can say is we just laughed the whole time; there was always laughter going on, and fun, but at the same time really digging deep to get performances that were even better than we thought we could do."

TRUTH CORRODED Signs With ULTIMHATE RECORDS

Australian thrash metallers TRUTH CORRODED have signed a European/Japanese deal with Ultimhate Records for the release of their latest album, "Worship The Bled". The CD will made available on September 16 and will be followed by a European tour in early 2012.

Commenting on the deal, TRUTH CORRODED bass guitarist Greg Shaw states: "The band is extremely pleased to be a part of the label. Ultimhate Records have a great and diverse range of bands, and we feel our sound has found the perfect label to represent us in Europe and Japan. Furthermore, like our Australian label (Truth Inc Records), it is run by musicians who know the industry from going into battle for their own music.

"After years of hard work to get where we are, it is great to be working with a label that has a shared experience and work ethic. The label has been very supportive and plans for touring in support of the album in Europe were put into place immediately. For us this is an aim we have long fought for, and we look forward to taking our music to Europe and building our profile further."

MOONSPELL Frontman Issues New Album Update

Vocalist Fernando Ribeiro of Portuguese metallers MOONSPELL has issued the following update:

"The new album proceeds and we will do a second pre-production with Benny Ricther in late July and Mike [Miguel Gaspar] will record drums for these songs, most likely in Germany. The rest of the album will be tracked by us and Tue Madsen during the month of August. Once the music is done, we will be able to give a better insight into this new concept and way of making things. Until then we count the days until we are able to match our big words with one of the most exciting collection of songs we ever worked in as composers."

SHADOWSIDE: \'Inner Monster Out\' Audio Samples Available

Brazilian female-fronted metallers SHADOWSIDE will release their third album, "Inner Monster Out", later this month via SHP Records. The CD was produced, mixed and mastered at Studio Fredman in Gothenburg, Sweden by Fredrik Nordström, who has previously worked with AT THE GATES, IN FLAMES, DARK TRANQUILLITY, ARCH ENEMY, SOILWORK and BRING ME THE HORIZON, among others. It features guest vocals from Björn "Speed" Strid (SOILWORK), Mikael Stanne (DARK TRANQUILLITY), and Niklas Isfeldt (DREAM EVIL).

THE QUILL: \'Black Star\' Video Released

"Black Star", the new video from Sweden's THE QUILL, can be viewed below. The song comes off the band's new album, "Full Circle", which was released on June 24 in Europe and will be made available on July 26 in North America via Metalville Records. According to a press release, the CD "is packed with heavy rock firmly rooted in the Seventies but vibrant and updated rather than retro. Yes, there's a new twist to the sound. Less is more, if you will. The songs are sharp, direct and catchy, built around big riffs, big grooves and big hooks. Just check out 'Sleeping With Your Enemy' and try to get that chorus out of your head. Surrender to the up-tempo outburst of energy that is 'Medicine'. JEFF LOOMIS To Record New Solo Album

Former NEVERMORE guitarist Jeff Loomis will enter the studio on August 23 to begin recording his second solo album. Dirk Verbeuren of SOILWORK will play drums on the follow-up to 2008's "Zero Order Phase", which will feature three or four tracks with vocals. Christine Rhoades, who previously collaborated with NEVERMORE on the "Dreaming Neon Black" CD, will sing on selected tracks. Special guest guitarists will be announced in a future update. The entire recording process will be videotaped. Shortly after wrapping up in the studio, Jeff will embark on a three-week tour of special Schecter guitar clinics in China, scheduled for October.

METALLICA, MEGADETH, SLAYER, ANTHRAX Perform MISFITS Classic In Italy; Video Available

The "Big Four" bands of 1980s thrash metal — METALLICA, MEGADETH, SLAYER and ANTHRAX — played the third show of their European tour earlier tonight (Wednesday, July 6) at Arena Fiera Rho in Milan, Italy.

The highly anticipated onstage performance of the "Big Four" bands at the same time happened near the end of METALLICA's set, between "Enter Sandman" and "Damage Inc.". Members of ANTHRAX, SLAYER and MEGADETH joined METALLICA on stage for a cover of MISFITS' "Die, Die My Darling" before METALLICA ended the night with "Creeping Death".

PERIPHERY Parts Ways With Guitarist

Maryland-based experimental, progressive metal six-piece PERIPHERY has released the following statement:

"We have some sad news to share. [Guitarist] Alex Bois and PERIPHERY have decided to part ways. This is truly a sad day for PERIPHERY, because Alex has been with us since the beginning, and he is like a brother to us. We're going to do everything we can to make the most out of this unfortunate situation, and soldier on like we always have in the past when faced with setbacks. In regards to all of our upcoming shows and tours, worry not! We will have special guest artists filling in for Alex, so our touring plans will not be changing whatsoever. Throughout all of this, we really appreciate your support and understanding."

GRAVEWORM - Enter the studio!

Our Italian friends of GRAVEWORM will enter the "Dreamsound Studio" in Munich at the beginning of July to record the successor of "Diabolical Figures" (2009).
Eleven tracks will be taped up, which are described as a "combination of GRAVEWORM's typical elements" by frontman Stefan Fiori. "The music got straighter and displays a perfect blend of our past four albums for me."
Hardness meets melody - once again an individual mixture of Gothic Metal and Melodic Death Metal, the two main pillars of the South Tyrolean's sound.
The album will be entitled "Fragments Of Death" and will be released on the 14th of October via Nuclear Blast. The title is explained by the vocalist in the following way:
" "Fragments Of Death" stands for the ten musical pieces of a puzzle on the CD. The lyrics deal with different modes of death. There will be one song about the current incidents in Japan, for example."

Bassist JEROEN PAUL THESSELING Quits OBSCURA

Bassist Jeroen Paul Thesseling has left German progressive death metallers OBSCURA. In a statement released to BLABBERMOUTH.NET, Jeroen explained, "Due to repetitive conflicting schedules with job related obligations I have decided to depart OBSCURA. Beside the limited availability that kept me away from touring during the last months, I feel like taking new directions in my musical development.

"Looking back, the cooperation with OBSCURA has been positive and successful. However, it's time to move on and find new challenges and opportunities for my musical career.

"I would like to thank all the fans who supported us and wish OBSCURA all the best with their future work."

ATREYU Drummer/Vocalist Launches HELL OR HIGHWATER

For more than 15 years, Brandon Saller has put his blood, sweat, and tears into the Southern California metalcore outfit ATREYU. The seasoned drummer/vocalist has hammered out five studio LPs with four of his best friends, while traveling the globe and performing for legions of exuberant fans. Saller has lived the dream of every musician: to bring the rock 'n' roll to the hungry, fervent masses. And with HELL OR HIGHWATER, formerly known as THE BLACK CLOUD COLLECTIVE, Saller emerges from behind the drum kit, with the same unbridled passion, to ignite the next rock 'n' roll firestorm. The five-piece band will self-release "Begin Again" on August 9. To support the release, the band will take the stage touring on the Uproar festival kicking off in August.

HELL OR HIGHWATER has been brewing for a little over a year and a half, as Saller's songwriting drew inspiration from classic rock, doo-wop, punk and pop. Once armed with a solid collection of tunes, he unleashed his newfound vigor in a slew of gigs prior to the New Year, and it felt totally natural. When ATREYU announced their hiatus in January, Saller felt the timing was spot on to bring HELL OR HIGHWATER to the forefront.

"THE BLACK CLOUD COLLECTIVE was just a name. We felt that it didn't speak to, or represent the five of us. HELL OR HIGHWATER spoke to who we are as a band. HELL OR HIGHWATER is who we are," says Saller.

HELL OR HIGHWATER lineup came together through word of mouth and via good old-fashioned tryouts. Each member had crossed paths throughout their respective careers, but once guitarist Matt Pauling (THE CONFESSION), guitarist Neal Tiemann (MWK, DAVID COOK), bassist Joey Bradford (THIEVES AND LIARS), and drummer Kyle Peek (MWK, DAVID COOK) synced up with Saller, things just clicked.

"I was lucky enough to find, in my opinion, some of the greatest musicians I could have ever found," Saller says. "The music has energized all of us to the point where we're foaming at the mouth. This music makes me want to body slam someone and run a mile, while waving an American flag!"

In addition to the upcoming release of "Begin Again" and the Uproar festival tour, Saller recorded a cover of "Night Life" with Billy Martin of GOOD CHARLOTTE for the soundtrack of the upcoming "The Muppets" movie. Due on August 23 at Starbucks worldwide, the soundtrack also features industry heavyweights like OK GO, THE FRAY, ANDREW BIRD, WEEZER, HAYLEY WILLIAMS, MY MORNING JACKET, ALKALINE TRIO and more.

GRAVE Signs New Worldwide Deal With CENTURY MEDIA RECORDS

Swedish death metallers GRAVE have inked a new deal with Century Media Records.

Jens Prueter, Head of A&R Century Media Europe, comments on GRAVE's return: "First time I saw GRAVE was in May 1992 when my friend Robert Kampf (founder of Century Media) asked me if I wanted to get tattooed by Vinny Daze (R.I.P.) from DEMOLITION HAMMER, who was in town with MASSACRE and GRAVE. I went to the show with the intention to get my first tattoo but was blown away by GRAVE's pure death metal blast and ended up being way too drunk to still get inked later that night. I never tried to get tattooed again, but I stuck to GRAVE and I'm more than glad to welcome back Ola and his 'new' guys to Century Media."

Adds Lindgren: "We are very happy and psyched to announce that we have signed back to our old trusty workhorse Century Media Records! After some while of negotiations and a meeting in Dortmund, Germany the week before we played Death Feast open-air [festival], we finally sealed the new deal. ANTERIOR: New Album Details Revealed

U.K. modern metallers ANTERIOR will release their second album, "Echoes Of The Fallen", in Europe on August 29 and North America on September 13 via Metal Blade Records. The 10-track effort was recorded at Grindstone Studios with producer Scott Atkins.

Commented frontman Leon Kemp: "That's right! The new album is finally here and we cannot wait for you guys to hear it! We've been hard at it for the past few months with producer Scott Atkins at Grindstone Studios and I must say the tracks are sounding massive. I feel we've really found our sound on this album.

"It's been quite a while since our last release and we've matured a lot as a band, especially with the addition of some new members. We've managed to retain all the great aspects of our first album, 'This Age Of Silence', and improve on them. The songs are more concise than before and we've really worked on making each song as strong as it can possibly be. We haven't settled for anything less, and at times it's been tough working to the benchmark we set ourselves, but it's brought the best out in everyone and after hearing the finished product it's definitely been worth it.

AVANTASIA: Band Lineup For WACKEN OPEN AIR Performance Revealed

AVANTASIA — the project led by EDGUY frontman Tobias Sammet — will perform at this year's edition of the Wacken Open Air festival, set to take place August 4-6, 2011 in the small town of Wacken in Schleswig-Holstein, northern Germany.

In addition to Sammet, AVANTASIA's lineup for the Wacken performance will include the following ten musicians:

Singer WARREL DANE Says NEVERMORE \'Is Not Dead\', Focuses On SANCTUARY

Reunited '80s cult metal outfit SANCTUARY, which features in its ranks current NEVERMORE frontman Warrel Dane and bassist Jim Sheppard, is working on material for a new album which it hopes to begin recording later in the year. Dane calls the new SANCTUARY songs "monumental" and claims that guitarist Lenny Rutledge "is writing some amazing thrash [that is] gonna cut your brains in half."

Despite the fact that NEVERMORE guitar player Jeff Loomis and drummer Van Williams announced their departure from the group in April, Warrel insists that "NEVERMORE is not dead" but adds that "SANCTUARY is just the focus now, and oh, holy shit, when you hear [the new material], you will know why."

A "major SANCTUARY announcement" will be made in the next few days, according to Dane.

ANATHEMA - veröffentlichen Orchesteralbum im September!

Die britischen Heavy-Pioniere ANATHEMA werden am 9. September ein Orchesteralbum mit dem Titel ''Falling Deeper'' veröffentlichen.
''Falling Deeper'' wird eine Best Of-Zusammenstellung an Songs aus den frühen Tagen der Bandgeschichte enthalten, die dafür allesamt komplett neu arrangiert und mit Orchestern-Parts unterlegt wurden.

Unter den Neu-Arrangements befinden sich Stücke wie ''Crestfallen'', ''Kingdom'' oder ''Sunset Of Age''. Für das Stück ''Everwake'' konnte Anneke van Giersbergen (THE GATHERING) als Gastsängerin gewonnen werden, die damit einem der frühesten und puristischsten Akustiksongs der Band eine neue Dimension verleiht.

Bereits mit ihrem aktuellen Studioalbum ''We're Here Because We're Here'', das im letzten Jahr veröffentlicht wurde, konnten ANATHEMA Kritiker wie Fans gleichermaßen begeistern. Einmal mehr bewiesen die Briten, die als eine der Pioniere der des Heavy Metals gelten, dass sie nach wie vor ein Garant für Innovation und atmosphärische Tiefe sind.

Mit ihrem Orchesterwerk „Falling Deeper“ bereichern sie ihre Karriere um einen weiteren mitreißenden Aspekt. Die Orchester-Arrangements wurden von Dave Steward erarbeitet, der der Band bereits zu ''We're Here...'' zur Seite stand. Aufgenommen und produziert wurde das Album von Daniel Cavanagh und Andrea Wright in den legendären Parr St. Studios in Liverpool (u.a. COLDPLAY).
„Wir wollten mit dem Album an unsere Anfangstage zurückerinnern und zugleich zeigen, dass wir nach wie vor in der Lage sind, in die Zukunft zu schauen und Neues zu bieten“, so Cavanagh. „Der Sound des Albums ist in der Lage, euch das Herz des Hier und Jetzt schlagen zu fühlen.“

ANATHEMA wurden für ihr Studioalbum ''We're Here Because We're Here'' 2010 mit einem Classic Rock Prog Album Of The Year-Award ausgezeichnet.
