DEMONAZ lineup on the demos was as follows:

Demonaz previously desscribed his solo material as "another cold dimension in my musical and lyrical world."

Abbath and Demonaz formed IMMORTAL in 1990. In 1998 Demonaz stopped playing live with IMMORTAL due to a hand injury, "but writing and working fully with IMMORTAL has been important for us to continue," he said.

2007 saw the IMMORTAL reunion with 10 concerts. The new stage lineup with Abbath, Horgh and Apollyon perfomed the first gig of this journey headlining the Inferno Festival in Norway.

"We've been through quite a bit in the recent year, and it's almost impossible to not incorporate all of our travel tales into the new sound. Every song has something special to offer, or a new story to tell that allows anyone listening a temporary escape. If it's not the first song that you'll enjoy, then it will be the next.

"We've taken the next step in progressing our music, and it may be the first into a full sprint."

ARSONISTS GET ALL THE GIRLS will debut new music from "Motherland" when it headlines the "Return To The Motherland Tour" with A PLEA FOR PURGING, LIONHEART, THE CONTORTIONIST and VOLUMES starting on April 18 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

LAZARUS A.D.\'s Van Broken Into In Southampton

Midwest thrashers LAZARUS A.D. had their vehicle broken into and robbed while the band was in Southampton, England as part of a U.K. tour with BONDED BY BLOOD.

Commented LAZARUS A.D. guitarist/vocalist Dan Gapen: "We just want to personally say thank you to the fuck douche bags who smashed our van's window and stole $1500 and all our clothes and other personal items. All I can say is thank god we had the gear on stage or the fuckers would have stolen that as well. They got every cent of band money, Social Security cards and our birth certificates. Not to mention they took all of our clothes and hygiene items. Thank god we had our passports in our pockets."

GRAVE DIGGER: New Support Acts Announced For European Tour

German power metallers GRAVE DIGGER have issued the following update:

"We're very sorry to tell that GRAND MAGUS and SISTER SIN have been forced to cancel their attendance at the GRAVE DIGGER European tour.

"Because of deep vein thrombosis, GRAND MAGUS drummer Sebastian [Sippola] had to enter the hospital together with a strict stage veto. A substitute could not be found within this short period of time. And finally, two weeks before tour start, the financial tour calculation of SISTER SIN has been blown away as well ... So, until yesterday, we've been left alone without any tour support.

"But we're lucky to tell that we've found an equal value act named ORDEN OGAN, who will take the slot of GRAND MAGUS for the complete tour dates. The alternate for SISTER SIN will be the band DOWNSPIRIT, who will enter the stage for eight shows. Mastermind of this band is Cede Dupont, some of you might know his name by former activities with acts like FREEDOM CALL or SYMPHORCE. Some shows will be supported by local acts as well.

"We worked pretty hard to get the package together with GRAND MAGUS on the road, so you can imagine our disappointment regarding this sad news. But, of course, all of you, especially the lads and lasses who saw our performance at the Wacken Open Air 2010, know that GRAVE DIGGER is the pure force and a guarantor for teutonic German metal at its best!

"We'll stretch out set for a few more songs to give you the final smash, so nobody will return home disappointed."

CRIMINAL To Enter Studio In April

Anglo-Chilean thrash masters CRIMINAL will enter HVR Recording Studios in Suffolk, U.K. in April to record their seventh studio album, the first since the departure of guitarist/founding member Rodrigo Contreras and the subsequent addition of Basque guitar wizard Olmo Cascallar.

"We know this is an important album for us, but we are definitely not overthinking it," says band leader Anton Reisenegger. "Most of the songs are quite simple in structure, very heavy, straight-ahead and in your face."

The choice of studio was pretty obvious, since HVR Studios are owned and run by CRIMINAL bassist Dan Biggin.

"Having your own studio to record is a real luxury, and we want to make sure we use it for the best," Reisenegger explains. "We are aiming to keep edits and other digital trickery to the minimum and have a massive natural sound instead."

RHAPSODY OF FIRE: New Album Details Revealed

Italian symphonic metal masters RHAPSODY OF FIRE will release their tenth studio album, "From Chaos To Eternity", on June 17 via Nuclear Blast Records. Described by the band as "the natural evolution" from last year's "The Frozen Tears Of Angels", the new CD marks RHAPSODY OF FIRE's final release based on the fantasy saga started in 1997 with the group's debut album, "Legendary Tales". As in the past, RHAPSODY OF FIRE founding members Luca Turilli and Alex Staropoli produced the effort, part of which (vocals and guitars) was laid down in their hometown of Trieste. The bass and drum recordings were completed in Wolfsburg, Germany at the Gate Studio under the supervision of RHAPSODY OF FIRE's longtime friend and collaborator Sascha Paeth (AVANTASIA, ANGRA, KAMELOT).

Commented the band: "It is the end of an era. This historical release will end the RHAPSODY's sagas once for all after 15 years of fantasy-oriented lyrics and for the last time we'll hear Sir Christopher Lee narrating in one of our albums the last dramatic events of a legendary tale started in 1997 and told through two different sagas and 10 full-length albums. We are surely very sad but we also know that for this same reason the upcoming release will remain in the history of the band for its artistic importance and unique epic!"

The "From Chaos To Eternity" album cover, which was once again created by Felipe Machado Franco, can be seen below.

"From Chaos To Eternity" track listing:

01. Ad Infinitum
02. From Chaos To Eternity
03. Tempesta Di Fuoco
04. Ghosts Of Forgotten Worlds
05. Anima Perduta
06. Aeons Of Raging Darkness
07. I Belong To The Stars
08. Tornado
09. Heroes Of The Waterfalls' Kingdom
I. Lo Spirito Della Foresta
II. Realm Of Sacred Waterfalls
III. Thanor's Awakening
IV. Northern Skies Enflamed
V. The Splendour Of Angels' Glory (A Final Revelation)

Commented Luca: "Musically, expect something really special out of the ten album titles. A song like 'Ghosts Of Forgotten Worlds', with its rageous and hypnotic guitar riff, will make you breathe the dusty atmospheres of the southern ghostlands. 'Aeons Of Raging Darkness' is pure melodic chaos translated into music, 'Tornado', the greatest technical challenge for each single bandmember, and 'Tempesta Di Fuoco', the first speed track completely sung in Italian language. For my song, 'Fantasia Gotica', I wrote and finalized the cinematic orchestral arrangements inspired by the visionary genius of Tim Burton, while 'The Splendour Of Angels' Glory (A Final Revelation)' is Alex's choral and majestic track for the perfect finale of the dark secret saga. Our bass player, Patrice Guers, and our drummer, Alex Holzwarth, did their best job so far in a RHAPSODY OF FIRE album. One more word is needed to underline the excellent performance of our singer: in this new release, Fabio Lione will present himself definitely as one of the best and most versatile singers, being able to pass with unique ability and talent from the most aggressive vocals, to clean angelic voices and powerful operatic parts. Once more, you are going to be really surprised."

Added Staropoli: "As always, the cinematic elements that defined our style will enrich each track, but the guitar work will be again very important too. What is sure is that for such an album Luca and I composed our best solos ever!"

ICED EARTH Announces New Singer

In the wake of vocalist Matt Barlow's retirement, dozens of demos and resumes flooded ICED EARTH's management team. But one name kept popping up — INTO ETERNITY vocalist Stu Block (pictured below), who has been named the new lead singer for ICED EARTH.

According to Schaffer, Robert Kampf, CEO of Century Media, early on suggested Block, whose band INTO ETERNITY was previously on the CM label. That reminded Schaffer of one night in September 2008 when INTO ETERNITY opened for ICED EARTH.

"ICED EARTH was backstage waiting to go on," said Schaffer. "We heard one of Stu's incredible wails. I remember turning to Matt and saying, 'Damn, that dude has serious range.'"

So while ICED EARTH's management team sifted through the growing number of prospective vocalists, Schaffer got in touch with Block.

After several phone conversations with the then-prospective ICED EARTH vocalist, Schaffer asked his manager to e-mail Block several key ICED EARTH songs, with the vocals stripped. Block went into his studio and recorded himself singing, then sent the files back to the team.

The result landed Block an intense two days at Schaffer's studio where the two musicians hit it off.

"I felt a lot of chemistry between us, we knocked out a couple of great original pieces of music in no time," said Schaffer. "He's very good at coming up with catchy melodies, and will help with lyrical duties as well. There's no doubt Stu has an amazing vocal range and a lot of energy, but he also has the touring experience, which is a big plus for our plans of performing in all corners of the world."

In addition, Schaffer said Block has what ICED EARTH needs in a front man: "stage presence that includes high energy, passion, and focused rage."

Schaffer added, "Stu is charismatic and understands the depth and varying emotions in ICED EARTH's music. So he will embody not only the emotion of our songs, but he will be able to perform them in a dynamic way. I believe fans are in for some incredible records and live shows in the coming years."

New ICED EARTH vocalist Stu Block concurred: "ICED EARTH fans are wonderful, wonderful people," he said. "The music is so passionate. So they're passionate, and very loyal to the band. I am, too. I'm a huge fan of ICED EARTH myself. So I share that same passion, and I will show it on stage. I think the fans are really going to dig it."

Block continued: "It's a huge honor to be doing this, to be part of this team. It's a dream come true, for sure.”

Schaffer is totally stoked. "This is a new beginning," he said. "It's game-on time. ICED EARTH is going to record and tour like it never has before. The band is really amped-up and ready to hit the ground running in November."

And to prove it, ICED EARTH has released the European leg of a world tour that will take the band to countries it has never previously played. All told, the 2011-2012 ICED EARTH world tour will be the largest the band has undertaken since its inception.

DUFF MCKAGAN: COREY TAYLOR Is \'The Brightest And Best Singer Of A Generation\'

Total Rock last month conducted an interview with an interview with Duff McKagan (DUFF MCKAGAN'S LOADED, VELVET REVOLVER, GUNS N' ROSES) shortly after his appearance at the Birmingham Guitar Show, which took place February 26-27 at the New Bingley Hall in Birmingham, England. You can now watch the chat below.

When asked if he is "sick" of the persistent rumors that SLIPKNOT/STONE SOUR's Corey Taylor will be the new singer of VELVET REVOLVER, Duff said, "I don't ever hear unless I am going out and doing press. Because I don't go on Blabbermouth or [do] any of the other things [that would expose me to such rumors]."

Duff added, "[Corey's] the brightest and best singer of a generation and I think he's killer. But I don't think VELVET REVOLVER is… There's not much urgency there to do much of anything right now, so… one day, hopefully. And I think [VELVET REVOLVER guitarist] Slash is probably gonna go make another [solo] record [next], so that's cool. That's what it is."

When asked by The Charlotte Observer where VELVET REVOLVER stands on finding a new singer, Slash said, "There was truth to the rumor that we were looking at Corey Taylor, but then I left for tour. So there's nothing being done at the moment. No decision."

McKagan added fuel to the Corey Taylor rumors in a chat he did on February 9 at ESPN.com. Asked by a fan what the most important attribute is that a lead singer should have besides a great voice, McKagan responded, "Any good artist has to have . . . the ability to tap the dark stuff and have it be real. Great lead singers have the ability to tap that. No inhibitions helps as well. Axl (Rose) and Scott (Weiland) are two of the best front men ever. Corey Taylor is one of those guys as well. He can tap it."

When asked about the rumors that Taylor was going to join VELVET REVOLVER, McKagan wrote, "I can neither confirm nor deny . . . He is a bad dude though. I like him as a human being and a singer. He's the voice of a whole new generation."

Taylor himself "neither confirmed nor denied" the rumors in an interview with Billboard.com in January, merely laughing and saying, "To be continued!" when asked about it.

VELVET REVOLVER has been without a singer since firing Scott Weiland in April 2008. McKagan, guitarist Slash and drummer Matt Sorum have all hinted in recent months that the band was finally close to settling on a new frontman.

GUNS N\' ROSES Guitarist DJ ASHBA: AXL ROSE \'Is One Of The Best Friends I\'ve Ever Had\'

GUNS N' ROSES guitarist DJ Ashba tells Spinner.com that he wasn't really sure what lay ahead when he joined got the call to join the band in March 2009 following the departure of Robin Finck — especially when it came to his new bandmates

"I didn't know what to expect, really," said Ashba of GN'R singer Axl Rose. "All I heard was different things from different people, and I met him like 10 years ago when Sharon Osbourne introduced me to him. They were in doing 'Chinese [Democracy]' and I was doing the BEAUTIFUL CREATURES album right next door. He was the nicest guy. [But] you hear all the rumors, you see what you see."

According to Ashba, all the drama surrounding Axl Rose that is depicted in the media isn't in line with what the guitarist has personally experienced dealing with the reclusive vocalist.

"I was shocked, mostly because he is quite the opposite of what you hear," Ashba said. "He is one of the best friends I've ever had, we talk every single day. And he is the funniest guy; the guy is funny as shit and always cracking jokes. He's quite the opposite of what people, I think, want him to be, that asshole."

GRAND MAGUS Forced To Pull Out Of GRAVE DIGGER Tour

Swedish have rockers GRAND MAGUS have been forced to cancel their previously announced European with German power metallers GRAVE DIGGER.

Commented GRAND MAGUS in a statement: "It is with deep sadness we deliver the news that GRAND MAGUS drummer Sebastian [Sippola] has been afflicted with deep vein thrombosis — blood clots in the deep veins of the legs. The immediate effect of this is that he can't play at all because of the pain and swelling. However, this is a serious condition that must be treated immediately to avoid that the clots travels to the lungs. He's in hospital at the moment and will initially be treated via injections and pills with anti-coagulation medicine. For the duration of the treatment he'll have to be checked daily at the hospital. Anti-coagulation medicine also has dangerous side effects, most obvious that bleeding or blows to the body must be avoided at all costs, since the blood won't stop flowing. In the case of internal bleeding it could be lethal.

"GRAND MAGUS wish to extend their deepest apologies to all who were looking forward to bang their heads to MAGUS during this European tour, and also to GRAVE DIGGER. This is a terrible situation, but really a case of Force Majeure and not something that can be solved in any other way due to the circumstances."

CROCELL Signs With ULTIMHATE RECORDS

Commented CROCELL guitarist Smukke Ken: "Ultimhate Records is a fairly small and new label but after a personal meeting with the A&R boss we had a great impression and they are very eager to release 'The Wretched Eidola'. They are dedicated and willing to put a lot of effort into presenting this new album to as many people as possible — and now we are just looking forward to finally releasing it as well as getting out there on stage and present the new songs live!"

KAI HANSEN Joins Forces With MICHAEL KISKE In UNISONIC

Kai Hansen (GAMMA RAY, ex-HELLOWEEN) has joined UNISONIC, the new band featuring former HELLOWEEN vocalist Michael Kiske alongside Dennis Ward (bass) and Kosta Zafiriou (drums) of Germany's PINK CREAM 69 and Swiss guitarist Mandy Meyer (who has previously played with ASIA, GOTTHARD and KROKUS)

Commented Kiske: "After so many years of abstinence, I had a lot of fun doing my first live shows with UNISONIC in summer 2010, so I agreed to do the short world tour with AVANTASIA. It was a great experience to be on stage with all those great artists, but with Kai it was something different: We instantly felt the magic again and had a lot of fun together on and off stage. We both realized that we want to be together in band again. He was interested in the open musical concept of UNISONIC and finally asked me if he can join the band. I talked to my bandmates and they all felt great about it. His talent as a guitarist and songwriter is an enrichment for the band and we are looking forward to his contribution for the music of UNISONIC."

Kai Hansen will remain a member of GAMMA RAY and play all of the band's currently scheduled shows. He is presently writing songs with the rest of the UNISONIC members for the group's long-awaited debut album, tentatively due at the end of 2011.

UNISONIC is:

Michael Kiske (vocals)
Mandy Meyer (guitar)
Kai Hansen (guitar)
Dennis Ward (bass)
Kosta Zafiriou (drums)

GOJIRA Working On Material For New Album

French extreme/progressive metallers GOJIRA have issued the following update:

"We are currently working on a live DVD with important bonus section: 'The Way Of All Flesh From The Inside', the Sea Shepherd EP (a non-profit operation with a lot of people involved is a bit complicated to wrap, but we're getting there and we promise to release these songs soon). We're also composing a new album! We've written pretty much half of it, and we are very excited by this new material. It's a big step for us. These songs are original and a good reflection of what we are today. We are so focused on these things that sometimes we forget to communicate with [the fans], but we'll try to post more updates from now on."

VADER Begins Recording New Album

Polish death metal veterans VADER have entered Hertz Studio in Bialystok, Poland to begin recording their new album, "Welcome To The Morbid Reich". The band is laying down a total of 12 or 13 songs for the CD, which will be mixed and mastered in May for a tentative late 2011 release. Working songtitles set to appear on the effort include "Lords of Thorns", "I Am Who Feast Upon Your Souls", "Only Hell Knows", "Return to the Morbid Reich" and "I Had A Dream".

Commented the group: "We started new recordings in Hertz Studios in Bialystok. We spent the whole afternoon being setting up drum kit, testing new skins and cymbals. There was also time to familiarize with new architecture of lately much rebuilded studio.

"We plan to record nine-ten fresh songs and three bonus pieces: redux of one old VADER classic (which is gonna be added to the refreshed live set for summer) and two cover songs (those will be kinda surprise for many for sure). Spider [Marek Pajak; guitar] also prepared few songs for the record and this will be his debut in VADER as a composer.

"There will be several studio reports available soon. The first episode should be ready by the end of March."

VADER will debut one or two tracks from "Welcome To The Morbid Reich" during the band's summer festival appearances.

PARADISE LOST: London Concert To Be Filmed For Upcoming DVD

PARADISE LOST's April 1, 2011 concert at The Forum in London, England during the band's "Draconian Times" tour will be filmed for a brand new DVD.

PARADISE LOST has launched a new interactive mini-site featuring exclusive information about the "Draconian Times" tour. In addition to previously unannounced special details about the strictly limited VIP packages that can be purchased for the upcoming shows, the site also features information about the re-release of the "Draconian Times" album in an all-new 5.1 Dolby Surround mix. There is also a competition with a huge collection of some big prizes for one lucky winner. This competition is open to all.

Sony Music will reissue PARADISE LOST's seminal 1995 album "Draconian Times" through the "Legacy" series; which will feature the entire digitally re-mastered album including a 5.1 Dolby Surround mix in a brand-new collector's edition digipak box set, so fans can hear the album like never before. Along with this release, the band will perform "Draconian Times" live at a series of seven exclusive gigs in the following select cities around Europe: Utrecht, Bochum, London, Paris, Athens, and Thessaloniki.

Commented PARADISE LOST frontman Nick Holmes: "It's going to be amazing to play the 'Draconian Times' shows again.

"'Draconian Times' was a huge success for the band; it seemed to be exactly the right album to do at the right time, and to a certain degree was definitely the end of a chapter for the band. We always considered the album to be a 'better' version of its predecessor, 'Icon', and using [producer] Simon Effemy again for the third time, I think we were all on the same hymn sheet and knew exactly what we wanted and what the album should sound like.

"We had done a pretty extensive touring schedule for the 'Icon' album before it, and there was already a decent buzz around about the band.

"In the 1990s without the Internet you could only really gauge how things were going once you walked onto the stage and saw how the crowd responded to songs! But after the 'Draconian Times' album was released, the response was phenomenal.

"Knowing that 'Draconian Times' is still considered by many as being among their favorite albums of all time fills me with great pride, and I'm very grateful to have been part of it all and now having the chance to be here again playing it in its entirety is phenomenal. We are all very excited and can't wait to do the shows live, I really hope we see you all there and you have as much fun as us!"

The tour dates for "Draconian Times" are as follows:

Mar. 18 - Fuzz - Athens, Greece
Mar. 19 - Fuzz - Athens, Greece
Mar. 20 - Principal - Thessaloniki, Greece *
Mar. 29 - Tivoli - Utrecht, Holland
Mar. 30 - Bataclan - Paris, France
Mar. 31 - Zeche - Bochum, Germany
Apr. 01 - The Forum - London, UK
