UNDERCROFT: New Single Available For Free Download
 UNDERCROFT, the Chilean death/thrash metal band now transplanted to Germany, has finished mixing and mastering its sixth full-length album, "Ruins Of Gomorrah", with producer Daniel Bergstrand (MESHUGGAH, DARK FUNERAL, LORD BELIAL, IN FLAMES, BEHEMOTH, STRAPPING YOUNG LAD, DARKANE, SATARIEL) at his Dug Out Productions in Uppsala, Sweden.
A brand new UNDERCROFT single is being made available for free download via the band's MySpace page.

BEHEMOTH Frontman Is \'In Great Spirits\' Following Leukemia Diagnosis
 Bassist Orion (real name: Tomasz Wróblewski) of Polish bands BEHEMOTH, VESANIA and BLACK RIVER was interviewed on the September 23, 2010 edition of "Radioactive Metal". You can now listen to the chat using the audio player below. (Note: The Orion interview begins around the 24-minute mark.)
"Radioactive Metal" is broadcast on Pure Rock Radio Thursday evenings at 8:00 p.m. EST.
When asked about the current condition of Adam "Nergal" Darski, the 33-year-old guitarist/vocalist from BEHEMOTH, who was recently diagnosed with a life-threatening form of leukemia, a cancer of blood-forming tissues of the bone marrow, Orion said, "Well, he's [been] in great spirits since the very beginning of this whole situation. His attitude is... well, just positive. The way he's behaving is like he had a flu; it just takes a little longer to heal. So he's still in the hospital. He's undergoing chemotherapy and it's gonan take another few months for all these chemos. Then there is a bone-marrow transplant possible either at the end of this year or at the beginning of next year, but we still don't have a donor for him. So we're still encouraging people to register in all these bone-marrow banks. But he's doing great. We're all 100 percent sure that he's gonna go through it stronger than ever. All I can do is just cross fingers. And we're still in touch. He's not, like, separated from the people; we see each other, we talk on the phone, he's all the time working and sitting in front of the computer. So he's doing what he was always doing besides being on tour. So he's working with the band and his attitude is great and he's in good spirits."

FALCONER: New Album Title Announced
 Guitarist Stefan Weinerhall of the Swedish metal band FALCONER has issued the following update:
"Recording time is coming up. Most songs [for the next FALCONER album] are written and rehearsed soon as the studio time is drawing nearer, starting to feel a bit stressed!! The album will be mixed in the end of January so I'd guess we're up for a late spring release.
"The title of the new album will be 'Armod' and will be completely sung in Swedish except for the bonus tracks that will simply be English versions of the best (according to us) new songs.
"This time we have concentrated on the traditional folk side of our music including more traditional folk songs (the majority of the material is still our own), more fiddles and flutes.
"Be calm, the horrid sound of accordions will firmly be left behind!!
"This is a way to finally devoting an entire album to the influences and getting that out of our system, so to speak, and to do the thing some have asked for during ten years. This is not the new direction of us but just the sound of THIS album.
"We are prepared for nagging about lack of speed and the full use of the Swedish language and, of course, the cynical opinions that we lack inspiration and thus use more traditional folk songs.
"The next time we'll take another step; I wonder what that can be."

CALM HATCHERY - New Album Title, Release Date Confirmed
 Polish death metal quintet CALM HATCHERY, which features past and present members of DEAD INFECTION and TEHACE, have finished putting final touches on their second album, entitled Sacrilege Of Humanity, due out November 15th through their new deal with Selfmadegod. The new album was recorded at Hertz Studio in Bialystok and supervised by Wieslawscy Bros (BEHEMOTH, VADER, HATE). Cover artwork is being designed by Mentalporn (DEATHSTARS, Behemoth).
Guitar player Huzar comments on the album: "We put all passion and determination from our hearts into this music. Our band went through some hard time during last year, but the faith in what we’re doing and the need to create music was the reason that our music grew mature. One thing can be said for sure: the music we offer these days is full of emotions and let it be the keynote of upcoming album. It’s hard to be original these days and we do not pretend to be – we’re not afraid to admit it and we’ll accept all comparisons. I’d like to encourage you to listen to our new songs."

RUSH To Be Honored At BILLBOARD TOURING AWARDS
 According to Billboard.com, Canadian rock trio RUSH will be named this year's Legend of Live at the 2010 Billboard Touring Awards in New York on November 4.
Classic Rock magazine today announced that RUSH will be honoured with the "Living Legend" award at this year's Marshall Classic Rock Roll Of Honour Awards in association with Currencies.co.uk.
RUSH will fly in to London to collect the award on November 10, with Alice Cooper hosting the event at London, England's Roundhouse venue.

ALL ENDS: New Single Available On iTunes

 BON JOVI are releasing a career-spanning greatest hits compilation November 9th on Island Records.
Bon Jovi - Greatest Hits will transport listeners back in time through Bon Jovi’s worldwide monster hits of the past and offer a bridge to the future with the debut of four brand new tracks.
“Music marks milestones in all our lives,” notes frontman Jon Bon Jovi. “These songs have stood the test of time and they remind us all where we came from, even as we keep our eyes towards the future.”
Bon Jovi - Greatest Hits will be a 16-song single disc chock full of the band’s biggest chart-toppers including 'Livin’ On A Prayer', 'Always', 'It’s My Life', 'Wanted Dead Or Alive' and 'Who Says You Can’t Go Home'. FATES WARNING Drummer\'s Recording Projects Detailed
 FATES WARNING drummer Mark Zonder has issued the following update:
"After finishing the eight reunion shows, twenty flights and thirty thousand miles for FATES WARNING that included shows in California, Texas, Connecticut, couple shows in Greece, Bang Your Head!!! festival in Germany and Sweden Rock Festival, I have been doing a lot of recording for other artists. Some of these include:
* Brian Futch: Cross between pop and rock with great storyteller style songs and vocals.
* Richard West of THRESHOLD doing a more mainstream project with great vocals and again great songs. Very melodic.
* A band with former DREAMZFATE vocalist Ripper X, Dan Pocengal (former guitarist of DREAMZFATE / MIDNIGHT PROJECT), Chris Strayer (former keyboardist of ELI ALSO / SISTERS OF MERCY and had a stint touring with TYPE O NEGATIVE). Heavier stuff with good song structure verging on the metal-prog style. Very solid.
* Dan Pocengal solo project, which is instrumental and a bit more free form, which lets me wander a bit more.
* SPEAKING TO STONES: Finished up the album over the past year. Complete classic metal-prog with tempo and time signature changes all over the place. Really good playing and serious lead guitar playing. If you are into prog-mteal, this is for you. Should be coming out in the beginning of 2011.
* TEN, the English band featuring Gary Hughes. Great songs, great hard rock vocals and tight, tight guitar playing. Very proud of this as it was not your classic Mark Zonder-style playing. I approached this differently and was sort of surprised myself on how well it came out. Something about letting the drums and cymbals really breathe, excited me and gave me great inspiration. Great songs, great playing, really excited and curious how this comes out as it is being mixed by Dennis Ward and will be released on Frontiers in 2011. Could and should be a big record. Hopefully live playing will follow the release.

PHIL COLLINS - \"GENESIS Are No Longer\"
 Craig Mclean from Billboard.com spoke with GENESIS icon PHIL COLLINS recently about a number of topics including the future Genesis.
"I think Genesis are no longer," Collins responded. "I don't foresee me doing any more Genesis shows. Not because I don't like it or don't want to. But it doesn't fit in with my life and wanting to be with the boys, and taking onboard [my other interests like] the Alamo and writing a book about that. And the other stuff that I'd like to do-and that includes doing nothing as well. But also, I can't physically play the drums. I don't want to sound like a spoiled kid, like I've had my stuff and I don't want to do it anymore. But I have done it all my life, and now I'm enjoying another side of life."

WHERE THE OCEAN MEETS THE SKY Debuts Second Track From Forthcoming Album
 With only a few weeks until the release of their new album, Empires, adventurous metal newcomers WHERE THE OCEAN MEETS THE SKY are premiering a brand new track, 'The Mettle Of A Man', exclusively at this location.
Empires is set to drop in stores and online everywhere October 12th from CI Records, the label that helped launch the careers of genre related acts like AUGUST BURNS RED and TEXAS IN JULY.
"This is actually one of the oldest songs on the record," explains vocalist Blake Martin. "We had been playing the earliest incarnations of it live for about 6 months prior to hitting the studio. 'Mettle' is definitely us at some of our catchier moments and it's always been a fan favorite live. Personally, I've always loved it because of the pacing."
In preparation of the pending release, the South Jersey six-piece are also streaming the track 'We Are But Instruments' here.
"Recording ['We Are But Instruments'] was a lot of fun because the vocals have a very intense pattern, and there are a lot of little intricacies in the music itself," explains vocalist Blake Martin. "It's a very a dynamic song and it shows our roots, but also showcases where we are taking our sound over the course of Empires."
Empires is a sensationally strong debut from a band that refuses to have their music fit snugly in a single tiny box. Tempering full-throttle heaviness with driving melody and haunting atmospherics, it's the sound of an album which is just as smart as it is heavy - an unfortunately rare combination in today's current alt music scene.
Leading up to the release of Empires, Where The Ocean Meets The Sky will join TEXAS IN JULY (Equal Vision) and THIS OR THE APOCALYPSE (Good Fight) on the road.

WITHERED Launch New Track Via Adult Swim And Scion A/V Metal Swim Collection
 Atlanta's blackened doom heathens, WITHERED have launched 'Extinguished With The Misery', the lead track from their upcoming album, Dualitas, due October 26th, as part of the new Metal Swim collection, presented by Scion A/V and Cartoon Network's Adult Swim. The track is available exclusively as a free download on AdultSwim.com/metal starting today.
Dualitas was recorded by KYLESA's Phillip Cope at the Jam Room in Columbia, SC. The CD and vinyl versions of the album have different covers, both of which were created by Paul Romano (MASTODON, TRIVIUM, THE ACACIA STRAIN), who also did the cover for its critically acclaimed predecessor, Folie Circulaire. Prosthetic has launched the pre-order for the album at their official webstore. The vinyl version of Dualitas, will be a 500 piece limited edition gatefold double LP set on 150-gram wax, which contains the exclusive 33 minute instrumental track, Dwell.
Guitarist/vocalist Mike Thompson commented on the track: "We chose 'Extinguished With The Weary', because this song really showcases some of the newer styling to be experienced on Dualitas. It is actually the last song we wrote for the album and we always have a tendency to gravitate towards our newest music when given a choice. We are always looking ahead. This song in particular deals with this same concept. It is about letting go of your emotional and moral foundation. Casting away all the conditioning forced upon you by society, family, friends, etc. so you can redevelop your own reality and approach to life. It's about finding the freedom to, and eliminating any fear of, establishing a pure existence for yourself without repercussion. Also, it's really heavy and nasty; a really good listen."

ALICE COOPER, BON JOVI Nominated For ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME Induction
 ALICE COOPER and BON JOVI are among the 15 artists nominated for induction into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in 2011. Other acts who were nominated are BEASTIE BOYS, CHIC, Neil Diamond, Donovan, Dr. John, J GEILS BAND, LL Cool J, Darlene Love, Laura Nyro, Donna Summer, Joe Tex, Tom Waits and Chuck Willis.
The inductees will be announced in December, and the 26th annual induction ceremony will be held on March 14, 2011 at the Waldorf-Astoria in Manhattan.
