PRIMAL FEAR: New Concert DVD, Live Album Detailed
 German power metallers PRIMAL FEAR have completed work on a brand new live DVD, "16.6 - All Over The World", recorded in various locations between September and November 2009, and a live CD, aptly titled "Live In The USA". Frontiers Records will release the two products separately and in a limited-edition combo version on June 2 in Europe and June 22 in the USA.
“The main part of the DVD was recorded in Switzerland at the Z7, but there is more footage from a headlining show held at the ProgPower festival in Atlanta, USA plus footage from Brazil, Sao Paulo; Tokyo and Osaka, Japan and more places," explains bassist and producer Mat Sinner. "That's why the DVD is named '16.6 - All Over The World' while the live CD is titled 'Live In The USA', because the live CD was recorded in Atlanta, New York and Los Angeles during the last tour that the we did across the ocean."
The DVD is filled with an abundance of extra materials, such as an entire bootleg section with funny moments on the road, some bootleg footage from various festival appearances and other concerts, all of PRIMAL FEAR's most recent promotional videos, plus the making-of footage for "16.6" and a brand new interview section about the past, present and future of PRIMAL FEAR.

YAKUZA Completes Work On New Album
 Progressive/jazz metal masters YAKUZA have completed work on their new full-length album, "Of Seismic Consequence". The band's darkest, heaviest, most introspective and most primal sounding album to date, the CD was recorded by Sanford Parker in a very live, stripped down environment between two studios (Electrical Audio and Semaphore).
YAKUZA decided to approach "Of Seismic Consequence" a bit differently than its previous releases. With the traditional YAKUZA elements still ingrained within the band's expansive and multi-faceted sound canvas, "Of Seismic Consequence" comes across as YAKUZA's most song-oriented album while at the same time being the band's heaviest and most oppressive-sounding album to date.
One of the standout traits that "Of Seismic Consequence" presents is the more expansive use of Bruce Lamont's vocals where his clean voice is the dominant force. Also what makes "Of Seismic Consequence" the darkest YAKUZA album is how some of the more melancholic and introspective moments on the album present themselves in such an epic and monumental fashion (as can be witnessed on such tracks as "Be That As It May", "Farewell To The Flesh" and the stirring album closer "Deluge"). And, of course, one of the most distinct elements to the YAKUZA sound, namely Lamont's talents as a saxophone player, is once again showcased on "Of Seismic Consequence", where it actually enhances the darkness that dominates the CD.
Filmmaker Justin Baron has been documenting the recording process for the new YAKUZA album.

SODOM Putting Finishing Touches On \'Lords Of Depravity - Part II\' DVD
 Veteran German thrashers SODOM are putting the finishing touches on their long-awaited new DVD, "Lords Of Depravity - Part II", tentatively due this summer.
Commented bassist/vocalist Thomas "Angelripper" Such: "The time has come. After we [sifted through the] vast stuff we've collected over the last 15 years we are currently editing the DVD which will [hopefully] be finished [sometime in] the next month. The whole creation will offer you over five hours only of SODOM's finest. You had to wait for this DVD long enough but, guys, your patience will be [rewarded]. [According] to our producer, Ronald Matthes, it [will] be the most extensive music project he has ever [been involved with] and [produced]. At the moment I'm not [in a position] to talk about [a provisional] release date but the DVD will be available in stores this summer and [in time for] the festival season, for sure."
SODOM issued the "Lords of Depravity - Part I" DVD in the U.S. on February 21, 2006 via SPV. The first of two double-DVD sets contained the SODOM history from 1982 to 1995 plus live footage from concerts in Sofia and at the With Full Force, Wacken Open Air and Rock Hard festivals.

WITCHERY: \'Witchkrieg\' Artwork Unveiled
 Sweden's WITCHERY will release its new album, "Witchkrieg", on July 18 via Century Media Records. The CD will mark the recording debut of the band's new vocalist, Legion (MARDUK, DEVIAN).
Commented guitarist Jensen: "So it's finally, finally, FINALLY time for a new WITCHERY album! And not just any ol' new album, no sir. This is quite possibly the best WITCHERY album to date. Let me correct myself. This IS the best WITCHERY album to date.

EVOCATION: New Album Title Revealed
 Swedish death metallers EVOCATION have set "Apocalyptic" as the title of their third album, tentatively due in in October via Cyclone Empire Records.
Commented guitarist Marko Palmén: "[The recording sessions are] progressing just as we planned. Yesterday we finished laying down all guitars except for solos which we are planning to do almost last. So far we have done drums, guitars and bass.
"By the way, for the drums we had some amazing help this time — Roberto Laghi (producer for IN FLAMES, etc.). And the result — well, to be honest, I haven't ever heard such an amazing drum sound... Prepare to be blown away. Same goes for the guitars and the bass as well — the sound has progressed and is more evil than ever!
"Next up to get to work is Thomas [Josefsson; vocals]. After having heard his ideas for the vocal patterns together with the songs, we all feel very confident that this album will become by far our strongest achievement up to date. SETHERIAL: \'Ekpyrosis\' Artwork Unveiled
 The cover artwork for "Ekpyrosis", the sixth full-length album from Swedish black metallers SETHERIAL, can be viewed here (art by Bartosz Nalezinski). The CD is scheduled for release in May via Regain Records.
Commented drummer Alastor Mysteriis, "The lyrical theme of 'Ekpyrosis' is about a metaphoric connection to the unavoidable conflict of the universe, through the Satanic angle and perspective.
"The 'Ekpyrotic' universe draws its name from the ancient Greek word ekpyrosis, meaning 'conflagration' (disastrous fire or conflict). A tribute to the complete obliteration spiral of all particles that is ever created where the all-seeing/all-destroying eye of Satan's singularity is represented by the destructive forces and dark energy of this vast, unknown universe."

LANFEAR Members Launch A COSMIC TRAIL

"A Conspiracy Of..." will be recorded by The Moot Group studios in Nottingham (same team that worked on RAVENS CREED's last album, "Albion Thunder") by Johnny Carter and Paul Yeadon.
ORANGE GOBLIN's Ben Ward recently decided to leave RAVENS CREED due to "a lack of available time to commit to the band." He said in a statement, "It has reached the point that I can no longer give [RAVENS CREED] the time and energy that it deserves and I feel that by leaving now it will allow Steve, Jay and Frazer the opportunity to get somebody who is as passionate and dedicated to the band as they all are."

SOLISIA Parts Ways With Singer, Announces Replacement
 Italian female-fronted progressive symphonic metal band SOLISIA has parted ways with female singer Marilena Stigliano "due to differences in musical and personal opinion." A replacement vocalist has aready been enlisted in the shape of Medea. The group states, "Medea was chosen among several auditions with many great female voices.With a more aggressive voice but sweet in melodies, Medea is taking part to the songwriting for the next album."
SOLISIA's debut album, "Ordinary Fate", was released earlier this year via Underground Symphony Records. The CD was recorded, mixed and mastered by Simone Mularoni at Fear Studio in Ravenna, Italy. The artwork and layout was handled by Alexandra V Bach (KAMELOT, ADAGIO, AKEMYST, OPERATIKA).
SOLISIA features in its ranks bass player Andrea Arcangeli, who previously played with DGM and CONCEPT. According to a press release, the band "boasts a personal and intriguing mixture of symphonic power metal with frequent progressive suggestions and delicate gothic atmospheres, strong technical thickness and a fresh vibe in composition rarely found in contemporary metal scene."

DEAD TO THIS WORLD: New Song Posted Online
 DEAD TO THIS WORLD — the speed/thrash/black metal project led by former IMMORTAL bassist Iscariah — has posted a new song, "Sacrifice", on the group's MySpace page. According to the band, "It is taken from our upcoming album which will be released by Vàn Records this year. It is an alternate version made for a compilation CD, but we thought why not share it with the rest already now taken it has been two years since the last album."

TANK: New Song Available For Streaming
 Legendary British power metal mercenaries TANK — featuring Mick Tucker and Cliff Evans on guitar and original TANK drummer Mark Brabbs alongside two new recruits, ex-RAINBOW/YNGWIE MALMSTEEN frontman Doogie White and ex-BRUCE DICKINSON bassist Chris Dale — have posted a new song, "Judgement Day", on their official web site. The track will appear on the band's next album, provisionally titled "War Machine". The track on the site is a demo version, as the group is planning to sign a new record deal in the coming weeks and enter the studio shortly afterwards to record the new CD. Other songtitles set to appear on the album include "War Machine", "Phoenix Rising" and "Great Expectations".
Guitarist Cliff Evans told MetalTalk.net to expect the biggest TANK album yet.
"We're in the process of choosing which label to go with at the moment," he said. "We have several offers open to us and we're ready to fire as soon as we sign a deal. We'll be playing tracks from 'War Machine' when we hit the road later this year."
The current TANK formation last year commented on a statement issued by the group's founding bassist/vocalist Algy Ward, in which he slammed his former bandmates for taking a version of the band out on the road in Europe without him.
Ward told Classic Rock magazine that the group "playing various European festivals [last] summer under the name of 'TANK'" was doing so "without my consent." He added, "The band name TANK, associated logos and images are my sole intellectual property and copyright."
Responding to Algy's statement, TANK's current lineup said, "It's a real shame when bands come to this isn't it? The trouble is TANK fans want to hear TANK play live. E-mails have come in from all over the world. Promoters have for the last eight years been trying to book TANK shows but Algy can't play live.
"As Algy himself says, he's not able to tour due to ongoing health problems. We wish him all the best there, but in the meantime, it's a question of do TANK fans want to hear three quarters of TANK plus two highly qualified new chaps playing the TANK material (and some new songs) or not get to see TANK at all?
"Judging from the amazing reception we received at Sweden Rock Festival last [year], it would seem the overwhelming answer is yes, TANK fans are rabid to get a chance to hear TANK live.
"Many of the fans at Sweden Rock were young enough never to have had a chance to see TANK play before, now at last they can. Some of the old fans we spoke to nearly had tears in their eyes, saying they never thought they'd get a chance to hear TANK live ever again.
"But it's always difficult for some fans to cope with band lineup changes, especially when it's the frontman not able to perform any more. VALIENT THORR: New Song Posted Online
 Fresh from the Soundhouse Recording studios in Seattle; Chapel Hill, North Carolina rockers VALIENT THORR have posted the first track, "Doublecrossed", from the recording sessions for the band's as-yet-untitled new album, tentatively due out this fall. Having once again teamed up with Jack Endino, the legendary producer of seminal albums by NIRVANA, SOUNDGARDEN and MUDHONEY, the band choose "Doublecrossed" as the first of twelve new recordings to mix and do a quick master on and release to the world for free via the group's official web site.
Last weekend marked the start of the 2010 Volcom Tour, which sees VALIENT THORR supporting MASTODON, BETWEEN THE BURIED AND ME and BARONESS.
VALIENT THORR's last album, "Immortalizer", was released in June 2008 via Volcom Entertainment.
VALIENT THORR released a DVD, "In Heat", in November 2008. A candid and behind-the-scenes look at the band's rock 'n' roll exploration of Earth, the disc featured footage shot on the road in the U.S. and Europe — including the Volcom Tour 2007, shows with THE SWORD, MOTÖRHEAD, Warped Tour, FU MANCHU and more — as well as material that was filmed in the studio in Seattle during the recording sessions for "Immortalizer".

Y&T: Audio Samples Of Entire New Album Available
 Audio samples of all 14 songs that are set to appear on "Facemelter", first studio album in 13 years from Californian rockers Y&T, are available on the Heavy Harmonies web site.
Y&T, featuring original members Dave Meniketti and Phil Kennemore (bass), along with longtime members John Nymann (guitar) and Mike Vanderhule (drums), will release "Facemelter" in Europe on May 21 via Frontiers Records.
As the title indicates, "Facemelter" is a hard-rockin', song-oriented album that lives up to its name: it captures the band's raw energy and tightness that they've become known for. Featuring heavy grooves, powerful guitars, and strong melodies, the band shows their versatility, delivering a range of high-energy rockers, mid-tempo head-bangers, modern rock grooves, majestic ballads, and signature Y&T rock anthems. To mark the return, the band engaged John Taylor Dismukes — the same artist who designed covers for Y&T's classic albums "Mean Streak", "Black Tiger" and "In Rock We Trust" — to create the amazing art of the new "Facemelter".
Face-melting is a term that has been with Y&T since the mid-'70s, when a rabid fan ran backstage and told the band, "you melted my face," which inspired the group's first publishing company: "Facemelting Music."

STRATOVARIUS, WOLF, SCAR SYMMETRY Members Featured On RUINED SOUL Debut
 Members of STRATOVARIUS, WOLF, SCAR SYMMETRY and NIGHTRAGE are among the musicians who make guest appearances on "My Dying Day", the debut album from the Swedish metal project RUINED SOUL. Released on April 23 via Suicide Records, the CD was produced by the project's mastermind, Johnny Johansson, and was mixed and mastered at Sonic Train Studios by Andy La Rocque (KING DIAMOND). The 10-song effort represents "metal at its best," according to a press release, with "fast, hard and melodic metal" songs topped off by " fantastic cover art" created by Gustavo Sazes (ARCH ENEMY, DREAM EVIL, NIGHTRAGE, OLD MAN'S CHILD, SONIC SYNDICATE).

SAWTHIS Signs With SCARLET RECORDS
 Italian thrash-death metallers SAWTHIS (formerly SOTHIS) have inked a deal with Scarlet Records. the band's sophomore album, "Egod", will be released on May 17. The CD was recorded at Petemkin Studios with producer Paolo Ojetti (INFERNAL POETRY). 13 songs were written for the album and 10 of them were tracked for the final product. Daniele "Axo" Galassi from INFERNAL POETRY played a guest guitar solo on "Barabba", which is said to be "the most atypical song that SAWTHIS has ever written."
SAWTHIS will begin a tour in May supporting the legendary Polish band VADER in Eastern Europe.

BRET MICHAELS Remains In Critical Condition
 POISON singer Bret Michaels' web site has been updated with the following message:
"Everyone at Michaels Entertainment would like to thank all fans and friends for their continued thoughts and prayers through this difficult time.
"At this point Bret remains in ICU in critical condition. He is under 24-hour doctor's care and supervision. We are hopeful that further tests will locate the source of the bleeding, which has still not been located.
"As we all know, Bret is a fighter and we are hopeful that once all is complete, the slurred speech, blurred vision and dizziness, etc. will be eliminated and all functions will return to normal.
"More information will be posted as it becomes available."

Former ANTHRAX Singer DAN NELSON To Begin Rehearsing With TESTAMENT Drummer
 Former ANTHRAX vocalist Dan Nelson will head over to the West Coast soon to begin rehearsing with his new band BLACKGATES, also featuring drummer Paul Bostaph (TESTAMENT, ex-EXODUS, SLAYER, FORBIDDEN), guitarist Jeremy Epp (THE VENTING MACHINE) and bassist Uriah Duffy (WHITESNAKE). "[I] can't wait to get out there and jam with the guys," Nelson writes in his SkullsNBones.com blog. "We have a lot of ideas and tunes to work on. HEAVY stuff here."
Nelson previously stated about BLACKGATES's musical direction, " It's thrashy and heavy, so will appeal to ANTHRAX and TESTAMENT fans. But has the groove and brutality of PANTERA, and is also very melodic. The guitarist is a kid from the Bay Area named Jeremy Epp, who's an unknown, but sensational. People are gonna love him."
According to Nelson, he has also been working on his own music on his home turf in Long Island, New York with his drummer of the last seven years from INSIDE HOLLOW, Frankie Apicelli. Dan says, "The project will be called CHILDE OF HALE. The music is very dark, ala BLACK SABBATH/THE DOORS meets something pissed off at everything! [I'm] stoked to get that into everyone's ears very soon as well."
Regarding his split with ANTHRAX in July 2009, Nelson told The Metal Den, "I never live my life with any regrets and never look back and wish I did something different. I chose instead to look forward to the future. We did some great things in the time we wrote and performed together, and I am very proud of that."
