CANDLEMASS, HAMMERFALL, HARDCORE SUPERSTAR Among Official GRAMMIS Nominees
 CANDLEMASS, HAMMERFALL and HARDCORE SUPERSTAR are among the five final nominees that are competing for the "Best Hard Rock" honor at the Swedish Grammis awards, which will be held January 15, 2010 at Münchenbryggeriet in Stockholm. The bands are all nominated for their most recent releases, all of which came out during 2009.

IN FLAMES was presented with the award by Joey Tempest, singer for the reactivated Swedish hard rock band EUROPE.

TOKYO BLADE: \'Live In Germany\' DVD Due In January
 Razar Ice Records has set a January 21, 2010 release date for TOKYO BLADE's "Live In Germany" DVD. The effort was recorded in November 2008 at the Keep It True festival in Würzburg, Germany during the band's "Die By The Sword" tour.
"Live In Germany" was mixed and mastered by Sid Garcia at Sight 16 Studios in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
The DVD, which is the companion to the already released "Live In Germany" CD (available at this location), contains bonus material, including candid footage with the band, additional live songs from throughout the 2008 tour as well as previously unreleased photo galleries.

DARK TRANQUILLITY: New Album Artwork Unveiled, First Song Available For Streaming
 "Dream Oblivion", a brand new song from Swedish melodic death metallers DARK TRANQUILLITY, is available for streaming on the band's MySpace page. The track comes off the group's ninth album, "We Are The Void", which will be released via Century Media Records on the following dates:
* Sweden: February 24
* Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Benelux, Italy, Australia: February 26
* Spain, Portugal: March 2
* Finland, Hungary: March 3
* U.K., France, Greece, Denmark, Norway, Rest Of Europe: March 1
* North America: March 9
The drums for the CD were recorded at bassist Daniel Antonsson's studio, while the remaining instruments were tracked at Martin Brändström's (electronics) newly renovated Rogue music facility. The mixing duties were once again handled by Tue Madsen (HALFORD, BEHEMOTH, KATAKLYSM, THE HAUNTED) at his Antfarm studio in Århus, Denmark. Working songtitles set to appear on the CD include "I Am The Void", "Zero Distance", "The Burden Of Love Alive", "Archangelsk" and "Memories In Reverse".

BIOHAZARD To Enter Studio In January
 The reunited original lineup of the New York hardcore/metal band BIOHAZARD will enter Los Angeles' Underground Sounds Studio on January 19 to begin recording its new album for a summer 2010 release. This will be the first time the four original members — Evan Seinfeld, Billy Graziadei, Danny Schuler and Bobby Hambel — have recorded together since 1994's breakthrough CD "State Of The World Address".
Commented bassist/vocalist Evan Seinfeld, "BIOHAZARD and our four diverse, yet equal and integral parts converge upon our L.A. Underground Sound studio and resurrect our patented 'meat grinder' writing process. Each guy brings something — riffs, lyrics, concepts, songs, melodies, chants — and we get in a room and hammer it out.
"I have personally missed this process over the last years, but having Bobby back in the band has brought back some extra fire that has helped remind all of us what the Brooklyn style is all about. The process is exhausting, humbling, magical and empowering all at the same time. One of the songs we wrote in our first 'round' of this battle, 'Vengeance Is Mine', we just played in all of Europe, London, and Moscow and went over so well live that I am sure we are on the right track."
A world tour will commence in April 2010 and will last through late 2011.
Starting with its self-titled 1990 debut, BIOHAZARD released eight acclaimed studio albums which have sold over three million copies worldwide. During that time, the band was also featured prominently on two revered, gold-certified compilations: "Nativity in Black: A Tribute to Black Sabbath" — they were represented with the album-opening cover of "After Forever" —and the groundbreaking soundtrack to the film "Judgment Night", for which they provided the title track (a collaboration with the rap group ONYX).
Known for its incendiary live show, the band has played over 3,200 concerts in their career.

WHITECHAPEL Preparing To Enter Studio
 Knoxville, Tennessee death metallers WHITECHAPEL will enter Audiohammer studios in Sanford, Florida on December 27 with acclaimed producer Jason Suecof (TRIVIUM, ALL THAT REMAINS, THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER, CHIMAIRA, DEVILDRIVER) to begin recording their third album for a late spring/early summer release via Metal Blade Records. The follow-up to 2008's "This Is Exile" will feature artwork by Dusty Peterson, who has previously worked with SIX FEET UNDER and BLOODBATH.
Commented guitarist and founding member Alex Wade: "We're really excited to announce that we will be hitting the studio in January with a producer who needs no introduction, Jason Suecof. Suecof has produced some of the most brutal metal albums to date and we are excited for him to get his hands on our new material to make it the heaviest music we've created thus far. Also, Dusty Peterson has been signed on to handle the artwork duties. His dark, yet meticulously detailed style of hand-drawn artwork is sure to bring out a truly vivid and brutal masterpiece.
"We really wanted our artwork for the record to speak as loudly for us as the music we are creating, thus Dusty was picked for his unbelievably realistic and detailed hand-drawn style.

RELAPSE To Reissue Classic CONVULSE Album
 Relapse Records will re-release CONVULSE's first proper full-length, "World Without God", this coming January. "World Without God" is an underground metal classic and will be available once-again for the first time in over 10 years on January 19. The reissue will be re-mastered, repackaged, and feature the band's legendary 1990 demo, "Resuscitation of Evilness". Additional information on this release is available now at this location.
CONVULSE only released two full-length albums during its short-lived death metal career but is still considered among the forefathers of the Finnish metal scene.

INFECTION CODE Mixing New Album
 Italian noise-makers INFECTION CODE are currently mixing their fourth album, "Fine", with Eraldo Bernocchi for an early 2010 release. According to the band, the early rough mixes "are very shocking... Amazing and furious sound!!! We are excited to listen the complete work."
"Fine" will be mastered by Michael Fossenkemper at Turtleone Studios.
INFECTION CODE's third album, "Intimacy", was released in 2007. The CD was recorded at Nadir Studios by Tommy Talamanca, and was mixed by Billy Anderson at Lowered One Studios in San Francisco. | 0 | |

HELLHOUND Reunites, Records New Material
 '80s underground thrash metallers HELLHOUND have reformed and are currently recording their first new material in over 20 years.
The band will perform new and classic songs during its January 9, 2010 concert at the Venuez in Santa Clara, California.
Formed in the early '80s and based in San Francisco's South Bay area, HELLHOUND developed concurrently but independently of North and East Bay acts such as LEGACY, DEATH ANGEL, FORBIDDEN EVIL and HEATHEN. HELLHOUND eventually shared stages with all these bands during the thriving thrash scene of the mid-Eighties. Before disbanding in 1988, they had played shows with the likes of SLAYER, MEGADETH and ANTHRAX.
Since its untimely demise, HELLHOUND has built a strong cult following due to CD releases of their classic demo tapes. It was after the most recent release, on Stormspell Records, that four out of the five original members decided to finally reunite and expose a new generation of metal fans to the music of HELLHOUND. | 0 | |

FOREVER IT SHALL BE: New Album Title Revealed; First Song Posted Online
 Braunschweig, Germany-based metal/hardcore act FOREVER IT SHALL BE will release its sophomore album, "Sonic Death Squad", in early 2010 via Maintain Records. The 12-song CD was recorded at Rape of Harmonies studio (HEAVEN SHALL BURN, MAROON) in Triptis, Germany and will feature cover artwork (see below) by Justin Osbourne of Slasher Design.
The "Sonic Death Squad" title track is now available for streaming on the FOREVER IT SHALL BE MySpace page.

LOST WORLD ORDER: New Album Available For Free Download
 Bielefeld, Germany-based thrashers LOST WORLD ORDER have made their entire new album, "Marauders", available for free download via the band's official web site. The CD contains eight "thrash anthems" that were recorded by Jörg Uken at the Soundlodge studio in Rhauderfehn, Germany between November 2 and November 12.
Commented the band: "We chose the way of a download offer to make the world listen to our new music, and we hope that you all enjoy it as much as we do. We'd appreciate if you told your friends about our download, too. As a physical medium, there will be no CD. But we will release an LP of the album in January 2010, coming in a gatefold and in splatter vinyl, containing a bonus patch."

Lion Music Signs Finland\'s GRÖNHOLM; DEREK SHERINIAN, TY TABOR To Guest On Debut
 Lion Music have signed Finnish progressive rock outfit GRÖNHOLM. The band will see their debut album, Eye Witness Of Life, released on April 17th, 2010.
Led by guitarist/keyboardist Mika Grönholm, the album sees vocals handled by Markku Kuikka (STATUS MINOR) with drums from Tom Rask. The album also sees guest solos from DEREK SHERINIAN and TY TABOR, and is comprised of 10 songs, 3 of which are instrumentals with album artwork coming from Hugh Syme (RUSH, IRON MAIDEN, MEGADETH).

CHIMAIRA\'s 10th Annual Hometown Christmas Show To Be Filmed For Upcoming DVD
 CHIMAIRA's 10th annual hometown Christmas show on December 27 at the House of Blues in Cleveland, Ohio will be filmed for a forthcoming concert DVD.
Commented guitarist Rob Arnold: "It's hard for us to believe that the first time CHIMAIRA played the Cleveland area over the holidays was ten years ago this Christmas. And the fact that the show became an annual event, drawing metal heads from not only the Cleveland area but from all over the globe, makes it all the more special.
"I remember being excited years ago, when fans started showing up from places as far as Texas, and now seeing fans flying in from places like Europe and the U.K. is, to say the least... astonishing.
"So here we are... our tenth annual CHIMAIRA Christmas show, and we plan to make it special. The production will be the biggest and the best yet, and the set list will span our entire catalog."

IRON MAIDEN returns to Wacken
 After their triumphant show in 2008, this will mark the second show of the british Metal legends at the Wacken:Open:Air. Their gig on Thursday, August 5th, 2010 will also be their only German show next year.
Comments Iron Maiden’s Steve Harris: “We had a fantastic time playing at Wacken last year so when we decided to play a few festivals in Europe next Summer it seemed a great idea to return. What could be better in Germany than to play again to the 75,000 true Metalheads who go to Wacken!“

ORPHANED LAND: New Song Available For Streaming
 "Sapari", the new single from Israel's progressive folk metal masters ORPHANED LAND, is currently being streamed on the web site of Israel's Metalist magazine. The song comes off the band's highly anticipated fourth studio opus, "The Never Ending Way Of ORwarriOR", which is scheduled for release in Europe on January 25, 2010 and in the U.S. on February 9 via Century Media Records. STONE TEMPLE PILOTS \'Almost Finished\' With New Album
 STONE TEMPLE PILOTS frontman Scott Weiland tells Spinner.com that the band is "almost finished" recording its Don Was-produced new studio album. "There will probably be 11 songs on the record and we have nine completed already," he says. "Then you have to have B-sides for Japan, the U.K. and the rest of Europe, so we'll probably record 14 songs total."
Regarding the songwriting and recording process for the new CD, Weiland tells Spinner.com, "It's always been easy. We have a method that we use and it's pretty basic. For the most part, Robert and Dean [DeLeo] write the instrumental riffs and then amongst the three of us we arrange the songs and then I write all the melodies and the lyrics."

VOLTURYON Begins Recording New Album
 Swedish death metal band VOLTURYON entered Black Lounge Studio in Avesta, Sweden this past weekend with producer Jonas Kjellgren (SCAR SYMMETRY, CENTINEX, WORLD BELOW) to begin recording its second album for an early 2010 release. "Everything went really smooth and all drums were recorded," the group states.
The follow-up to 2008's "Blood Cure" will see VOLTURYON "taking [its] music to a new level and develop[ing] [its] sound and style," according to a press release.
Currently unsigned, VOLTURYON has spent the last couple of years playing shows, including at the Sweden Rock Festival in June 2008 where the band performed alongside AT THE GATES and CARCASS, among others.

PRONG Remixes KMFDM Song For Upcoming Remix CD
 PRONG was recently tabbed to remix 'Bait & Switch' for KMFDM's remix album titled Krieg. Of the remix Tommy Victor said, "Being asked to do a KMFDM was an interesting proposal. What does one do? The song 'Bait And Switch' is a strong track to begin with. I think that eventually helped in the results. But some time and energy had to be put into building on that. I'm happy with how it came out. It was a cool project!"

 Danish symphonic metallers WUTHERING HEIGHTS have issued the following update:
"We're right now in the middle of recording our new album, Salt, which we hope to be able to release in the spring of 2010 (via Sensory).
