SOULFLY: Working Album Title, Songtitles Revealed
 SOULFLY entered Edge Of The Earth studios in Hollywood, California on Friday, November 6 with producer Logan Mader (MACHINE HEAD, DIVINE HERESY, CAVALERA CONSPIRACY, GOJIRA, DEVILDRIVER) to begin recording its new album, tentatively titled "Omen", for an early 2010 release. Working songtitles set to appear on the follow-up to last year's "Conquer" include:

ESOTERIC Seeking New Guitarist, Keyboardist
 U.K. doomsters ESOTERIC are currently looking for a replacement for guitarist Kris Clayton, who departed from the band earlier this year and for keyboard player Olivier Goyet, who recently moved back to his homeland France. Experience and own equipment required.
The band has been in existence since July 1992 and is currently writing material for its sixth album.

SARAH JEZEBEL DEVA: \'A Sign Of Sublime\' Track Listing Revealed
 British vocalist Sarah Jezebel Deva — who has toured and/or recorded with CRADLE OF FILTH, THERION, MORTIIS and ANGTORIA — will release her solo album, "A Sign Of Sublime", in February 2010 through Rising Records. The drums on the CD were laid down by Max Blunos, formerly of the U.K. death metal outfit TRIGGER THE BLOODSHED. Other guest musicians that appear on the album include Martin Powell (CRADLE OF FILTH, ANATHEMA, MY DYING BRIDE) and Dave Pybus (CRADLE OF FILTH). The CD was mixed and mastered at Escape Route by Dan Abela.

ISIS: \'20 Minutes / 40 Years\' Video Released
 "20 Minutes / 40 Years", the new video from ISIS, the innovative Los Angeles-by-way-of-Boston-based band, can be viewed below. The song comes off the group's fifth full-length album, "Wavering Radiant", which was released in the U.S. on May 5 via Ipecac Recordings. The CD, produced by Joe Baressi (TOOL, QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE), received a limited-edition vinyl release on April 21. TOOL's Adam Jones contributed guitar to two songs from the LP.

DRAGONFORCE: All Live Shows For 2010 Cancelled
 British extreme epic power metallers DRAGONFORCE have issued the following update:
"It is with great regret that DRAGONFORCE have to announce the cancellation of the two shows in Tokyo that were scheduled for the beginning of March 2010. The reason for this is that at the end of the 2009 U.K. part of the 'Ultra Beatdown World Tour', the band will start writing a new studio album scheduled for release in 2011. They will need to focus totally on this, and unfortunately this means all live shows for 2010 have been cancelled."

SLIPKNOT Singer Weds In Las Vegas
 According to People.com, SLIPKNOT/STONE SOUR frontman Corey Taylor married Stephanie Luby this past Friday (November 13) at Las Vegas's Palms Hotel, where the wedding party walked down the aisle to METALLICA's "For Whom The Bell Tolls". 350 wedding guests packed the hotel's Pearl Concert Theater, including SUGAR RAY's Mark McGrath, as well as CAMP FREDDY's Dave Navarro and Billy Morrison, who acted as the minister. The rockers then all took the stage, and even the groom joined in on three songs.
This is Taylor's second marriage.
Taylor, 35, has two children: A daughter named Angie, born in 1992, and a son named Griffin, born in 2002, whom he had with his first wife, Scarlett.

BLIND GUARDIAN Frontman Issues New Album Update
 Vocalist Hansi Kürsch of long-running German metallers BLIND GUARDIAN has issued the following update:
"We finally have started the production of BLIND GUARDIAN studio album number nine. Frederik [Ehmke; drums] is literally rushing through the songs already. Who knows, this time we may deliver the finished master prior to the ultimate deadline (set by an about-to-get-insane record company after thousands of broken promises to finally deliver the new record within the next days). Well, Frederik isn't Marcus [Siepen; guitar], who isn't André [Olbrich; guitar], who most certainly is not Hansi. So there still lies trouble (i.e. delays) ahead.
"Back to Frederik, back to the production: We started sometime last week and Frederik accomplished drums for some seriously tricky tracks. If I am correct, he has two more tracks to go and should be finished during the next days. Altogether there are 11 songs to work on.
"As mentioned last time, we do have a strong amount of heavy GUARDIAN hymns, which come along with such a harsh intensity that I am sometimes surprised myself. There is a fine balance of extremely fast songs and ultimate epic stuff. 'Wheel Of Time' would be one example for the last mentioned. The song contains many surprises — I am deadly honest about that, so mark my words here. Lyrically I am of course tempted to deal with Robert Jordan's great 'Wheel Of Time' story, one of the best fantasy series ever.
"If you asked me with which song the number could be compared, I most probably would say 'The Script For My Requiem' or 'And Then There Was Silence'. This tune does really have the potential to mess with these two songs.
"As you most probably figure, I am really excited about the new stuff and I cannot await to hear the final result somewhere in April 2010, when we will have finished mixing. We are targeting a late summer, early fall release, which means you still have to wait a little bit. To make the long waiting more comfortable we are at least intending to constantly provide you with information about the album's progress and supply you with small samples of noise from time to time. Right at the moment, we are working on an accurate set up to make that possible. Expect something before Christmas. As it looks now, I will start first vocals next Monday. Therefore I need to do some more research for proper lyrics. G.R.R. Martin, Robert Jordan, Michael Moorcock and so on, they all knew how to write a good story or two..."

 Finnish folk metallers FINNTROLL have completed work on their new album, "Mot Skuggornas Värld", for an early 2010 release via Century Media Records.
Commented keyboardist Henri "Trollhorn" Sorvali: "After constructing a shitload of more stuff, we went to Finnvox and had a nice session with certain M. Jussila who did a splendid job, once again. And holy Jesus H. Christ, this sounds good! I'd say it's 1488 times better-sounding album with better songs than ever. Then again, it's only me. Seriously, it's good. Seriously. It's that good. Believe me."

 "Battles and Brotherhood", the new video from Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada-based traditional metallers 3 INCHES OF BLOOD, can be viewed at BloodyDisgusting.com. The clip was produced and directed by Rick Podd, who has previously worked on such movies as "The Watcher" and "Hellraiser".
3 INCHES OF BLOOD is currently preparing for a massive North American headlining tour with SAVIOURS and HOLY GRAIL in the support slots. The trek kicks off on November 13 and will be 3 INCHES OF BLOOD's last U.S. run until the spring of 2010.
"Here Waits Thy Doom" sold around 2,300 copies in the United States in its first week of release, according to Nielsen SoundScan. The CD landed at position No. 8 on the Top New Artist Albums (Heatseekers) chart, which lists the best-selling albums by new and developing artists, defined as those who have never appeared in the Top 100 of The Billboard 200.

SACRIFICE: \'The Ones I Condemn\' To Receive European Release In January
 "The Ones I Condemn", the new album from reunited Canadian thrashers SACRIFICE, will be released in Europe on January 22, 2010 via Cyclone Empire Records. The CD, which was made available in July via Brazil's Marquee Records, was recorded at Rouge Valley Studio in Toronto, Ontario with engineer Darius Szczepaniak, who has previously worked with I MOTHER EARTH, SUM 41 and EDWIN, among many others. EVANESCENCE\'s WILL HUNT Laying Down Drum Tracks For New METHODS OF MAYHEM Album
 Video footage of Will Hunt (EVANESCENCE, STATIC-X, DARK NEW DAY, TOMMY LEE) laying down drum tracks on the new METHODS OF MAYHEM album at MÖTLEY CRÜE drummer and METHODS OF MAYHEM mastermind Tommy Lee's recording studio called The Atrium in Calabasas, California can be viewed here.
In an interview with TuneLab.com, Hunt stated about the upcoming METHODS OF MAYHEM CD, "People are gonna be very surprised when they hear that record. It's very different than anything [Tommy's] done. It's still very cool, there's some very melodic, commercial stuff on it, but the bulk of the record is very heavy, grungy, DEFTONES-sounding stuff. And it's just really cool."
METHODS OF MAYHEM's "Public Mayhem" album collaboration project was launched on October 5. Lee and METHODS producer Scott Humphrey posted isolated instrument tracks, or stems, from the upcoming album on the web site ThePublicRecord.com. Anyone with a great musical idea is invited to play a part in helping to achieve true "Public Mayhem", i.e. collaborate on the album. A wide range of formats are available to work with, including RiffWorks, WAV, Logic, GarageBand, Pro Tools and the Four Track 3.0 iPhone application. Participants will also have a chance to perform with METHODS OF MAYHEM at their record-release show.
"Public Mayhem" is set for release in early 2010.

DANISH METAL AWARDS: Nominees Announced
 According to Antenna, MESHUGGAH, MNEMIC, THE BURNING and ARTILLERY are among the acts who will perform at the next installment of the Danish Metal Awards, set to take place January 16, 2010 at Amager Bio, Copenhagen, Denmark.
The awards event will offer the attendees a chance to experience four Danish acts. Once the show comes to an end, the Swedish extreme-metallers MESHUGGAH will deliver a full set; their first performance on Danish soil in more than four years.

SCORPIONS To Embark On Two-Year Tour In 2010
 Veteran German hard rockers SCORPIONS will embark on a two-year world tour in 2010. An international press conference will be held in January to announce the details of the trek, which will include dates in Germany, USA, South America, Asia, Russia and other European countries.
SCORPIONS recently spent time at a studio in Hannover, Germany with Swedish producers Mikael "Nord" Andersson and Martin Hansen (the team behind THE RASMUS' "Dead Letters" CD) recording their new album for an early 2010 release.

FOR THE SUFFERING Completes Work On New Album
 New Mexico's female-fronted band FOR THE SUFFERING has completed work on its new album, "Life Without A Cure". More information regarding the CD's release date and online availability will be released soon.
FOR THE SUFFERING's self-titled debut was released on February 24 via Crash Music.
According to a press release, FOR THE SUFFERING has been a force to be reckoned with in the West Texas/Eastern New Mexico scene since early 2003 (performing under the old moniker A DAY TO FALL). After undergoing a few lineup changes over the years, the band has come into its own and solidified its sound a mixture of heavy grooves, bursts of head spinning speed, and haunting melodies.

DE PROFUNDIS: New Album Artwork Revealed
 The cover artwork for "A Bleak Reflection", the sophomore album from the London, U.K.-based progressive extreme metal band DE PROFUNDIS, can be viewed here. According to guitarist Roman Subbotin, the artwork — by artist Darryll Jones — "came out being an extremely powerful and emotive addition to the music. Indeed, the artwork tells the story of the album — that's probably as close as I will ever come to saying that this is a concept album..."
"A Bleak Reflection" will be released in early 2010 and will come with a "very cool" 12-page booklet. The CD was produced by Fernando Pereira Lopes (MISANTHROPE, ORAKLE) and DE PROFUNDIS and was mixed at Russ Russell's Parlour Studios in July. Subbotin states, "[the new album] represents a significant moment for our musical evolution. We've all worked really hard and, in my humble opinion, achieved rather spectacular results."

RAGE: Limited-Edition Digibook Version Of \'Strings To A Web\' Detailed
 Veteran German metallers RAGE will release their new album, "Strings To A Web", on February 5, 2010 via Nuclear Blast Records. The CD was recorded at Twilight Hall Studio and was produced by Charlie Bauerfeind (BLIND GUARDIAN, HAMMERFALL). The cover artwork was created by Thomas Ewerhard (AVANTASIA, THERION), and it shows the soundchaser as a spider, caught in a web.
The limited-edition digibook version of "Strings To A Web" will include a high-quality DVD including 15 live clips. The main portion of the DVD will consist of the "best-of" show RAGE played at the Wacken Open Air festival in 2009, including guest appearances by Hansi Kürsch (BLIND GUARDIAN), Schmier (DESTRUCTION) and Jen Majura (BLACK THUNDER LADIES).

"I am really proud of the album, we hardly ever sounded more inspired and it is an absolute highlight in our career," says bassist/vocalist Peavy Wagner. Drummer André Hilgers adds, "This albums show all the different faces and characters and I call it the most enormous and multifarious record I ever recorded."
"Strings To A Web" includes melodic and anthemic tracks such as "Into The Light" and "The Beggar's Last Dime", as well as powerful thrashers like "Purified" and "Tomorrow Never Comes". But the heart of the record comes in the shape of the 16-minute masterpiece "Empty Hollow", a progressive fairytale that unites everything RAGE is about.
"You can compare 'Empty Hollow' to our 'Lingua Mortis Suite' from the 'Speak Of The Dead' record," says guitarist Victor Smolski. "This song was recorded with an orchestra and is divided into five parts.
"As a band we have discovered a lot of new possibilities and elements, even in Peavy's vocals, my way of playing guitar or the arrangements in André's drumming."
Dayal Patterson of the English magazine Metal Hammer decribed the record as an "intense, frantic and technical assault tempered by clean sung choruses and harmonies!" His spanish collegue Sergi Ramos of Metal Hammer stated, "Everything you love about today's RAGE sound plus a dose of old-school thrown in for good measure."

TARJA TURUNEN Contributes To Finnish Christmas Album; Audio Available
 Former NIGHTWISH singer Tarja Turunen recently recorded three songs for a Finnish Christmas album, produced by Olli Ahvenlahti. Entitled "Maailman Kauneimmat Joululaulut" (English: The World's Most Beautiful Christmas Songs), the CD is a charity project for missionary workers in Finland. It will be released on November 18 via Universal Music.
The three tracks Tarja appears on have surfaced on YouTube and can be streamed below.
Tarja Turunen has set "What Lies Beneath" as the working title of her new solo CD, tentatively due in early 2010. She says, "With [2007's] 'My Winter Storm', I chose the name of the album in the early stages and that helped me to create the concept for the album. With the new album, I decided to do it the same way, so I searched for an inspiring title and all the songs are one way or another related to it."

MERCENARY Parts Ways With Drummer, Singer And Keyboardist
 Guitarist Jakob Mølbjerg of Danish metallers MERCENARY has issued the following update:
"Well, well, changes that have been underway for a long time can sometimes come about in the blink of an eye.
"Last week, Mike [Park Nielsen, drums] told us that he wanted to leave the band permanently. The rest of us did some serious thinking and soul-searching, sat down and had 'the big talk' and came to the agreement that the only way to continue the band was to part ways with Mikkel [Sandager, vocals] and Morten [Sandager, keyboards] as well.
"During the last year we have been working on a new album and it has become clear that we no longer share the same vision and enthusiasm about the direction and the future of the band. Martin [Buus, lead guitar], René [Pedersen, bass/vocals], Mike and I wanted to play faster, heavier and more modern (yet old school) material, but for the band as a whole this evidently didn't work out.
"In many ways this is a painful choice. But it also allows us to close a chapter in the band's career and our shared lives, that we're all immensely proud off, in a dignified way that doesn't let ourselves or our fans down. Nobody would be better off if we released an album that we didn't all truly believe in and felt as fiercely passionate about as we have done about all of our past albums.
"Rest assured, however, that René, Martin and I will continue MERCENARY in the best way we possibly can and with a newfound sense of integrity and purpose. So far we have had an immensely fruitful songwriting process with lots of mutual inspiration, understanding, synergy — and most importantly — good, plain, old-fashioned fun, which is what it all ought to be about. We feel that we’re finally all in agreement about the future direction of the band and that this will be the strongest and most united incarnation of MERCENARY ever. In terms of creativity, motivation and the everyday-practical-getting-shit-done-aspects, the band remains fully intact. The new MERCENARY will be back to shatter everybody's balls in 2010.
"On behalf of all of the guys, we'd like to give our most humble and sincere thanks to all the fans, bands, press, promoters and others who have supported us throughout the years and made this one hell of a damn fine ride. As a final nod from the old incarnation of MERCENARY to the fans, we've included a video [see below] from our tour with ARCH ENEMY, where Mikkel joined them on stage in Italy for the track 'Burning Angel' as this tour and this experience was in many ways the highlight of what we managed to achieve together."
