DARK SANCTUARY compilation
The French band Dark Sanctuary creates a somber and lush neo-classical sound with powerful female vocals soaring and ascending above the layers of piano, synthesizer, strings, acoustic guitar and percussion. On Thoughts : 9 years in the sanctuary, Projekt gathers 10 tracks from the band's four albums for an hour of romantic, intimate, and personal hymns. For romantic souls who enjoy Arcana, Ophelia's Dream or Black tape for a blue girl. Mp3's available Thoughts: 9 years in the Sanctuary is available today in North America, released by Projekt. More news: The band is actually recording its 5th album, "Exaudi Vocem Meam", at Klangschmiede E-Studio in Germany. Everything's going well and as far as we can tell this new opus dwells in the good old Dark Sanctuary's tradition : atmospherical, rythmical and lyrical. | 0

H.I.M.: 'Wings Of A Butterfly' Single Cover Artwork Posted Online
H.I.M.'s Greek fan site DarkSecret Club has uploaded the cover artwork for the group's upcoming single, "Wings of a Butterfly", at this location.
"Wings of a Butterfly" will be the first international single off the Finnish goth-metallers' upcoming CD, "Dark Light", due out on September 27 via Sire. It is expected in late August/early September.
H.I.M. are expected to team up with SKINDRED and FINCH for at least some of their U.S. dates this fall.
According to Billboard.com, "Dark Light" was mixed at New York's Electric Lady studios with producer Tim Palmer (DAVID BOWIE, OZZY OSBOURNE). Valo told Finland's Ilta-Sanomat magazine that the group's initial choice of mixer for the new album, Andy Wallace (NIRVANA, KORN, LIMP BIZKIT, DISTURBED) was fired one week into the process because he made H.I.M. sound like "one of those American bands with no personality." "He didn't understand our Scandinavian 'twistedness,'" Ville said.
The follow-up to 2003's "Love Metal", "Dark Light" was recorded at Los Angeles' Paramour studios with Palmer, who also worked on the band's last album. | 0

VREID's music is being described as a continuation of the sound and style Hváll had created with WINDIR and ULCUS, but with "its own personal sound — a mixture of the ambience of WINDIR, the rawness of Norwegian black metal and the rocking groove of MOTÖRHEAD." Rounding out VREID's lineup is a guitarist named Ese — a close friend of the VREID members for years, and co-engineer on WINDIR's "Likferd" album. | 0

LANFEAR: In Songwriting Mode
Guitarist Markus Ullrich of the German power metallers LANFEAR has issued the following update on the group's current activities:
"We're currently in the songwriting process for our still untitled fifth album and — musically — more than half of the material is already done. The songs to me sound as the next logical step, I think though, that everything seems to be a bit darker than the last two albums and the main parts are very rhythm orientated. Of course, melodies still are the most important thing in LANFEAR, so no old fan will be disappointed. There're also plans to do a live DVD recording in December, which maybe could turn out to be a bonus DVD on the next album. Still don't know when we're going to enter Dreamscape studios, but we plan to do the recordings in spring next year.
LANFEAR had their most recent two albums, "Another Golden Rage" (2005) and "The Art Effect" (2003), released in the U.S. via Nightmare Records.
LANFEAR's fourth album, "Another Golden Rage", was recorded at Dreamscape studios in Munich, Germany and featured a lyrical theme that was a continuation of the story which began on the title track of "The Art Effect".
LANFEAR recently supported MORGANA LEFAY on a European tour. | 0

SOLEFALD Finish Recording First Part Of New Saga
Norway's SOLEFALD have finished recording the first part of their new saga, which is based on Viking mythology and history, entitled "Red for Fire, Black for Death".
"Red for Fire: An Icelandic Odyssey Part 1" will be released through Season of Mist, worldwide before the end of 2005 and will quickly be followed by "Black for Death: An Icelandic Odyssey Part 2" in early spring 2006.
"Part 1" features guest appearances by electronica singer Aggie Frost Peterson on the songs "Sun I Call" and "White Frost Queen", and by Jörmundur Ingi, the ancient supreme Godi of Iceland (an Ásatrú priest), who reads the poem "Lokasenna" (an argument between gods) on the last track of the album. The previously announced guest appearance by Garm of ULVER will be featured on "Black for Death".
SOLEFALD's new effort, a "true Viking metal album," according to its authors, is being produced by Borge Finnstad (MAYHEM, ARCTURUS, etc.).
As SOLEFALD previously stated, "We were experimental when everybody was trying to be as basic as possible. Now that we feel we've said what we had to say in this field, and now that everybody is experimenting one way or another, this is our attempt at being true." | 0

FREEDOM CALL Part Ways With Guitarist
German power metallers FREEDOM CALL have announced the departure of guitarist Cede. "He will do the upcoming shows in Trier, Pitea and Chiaramonte," FREEDOM CALL drummer Dan Zimmermann writes on the group's web site. "We, the rest of FREEDOM CALL, respect his decision and we wish him all the best for the future. The band will take their time to find a suitable guitar player."
Cede has issued the following statement regarding his decision to leave the band:
"After hundreds of beers, thousands of driven miles for rehearsals and gigs, endless moments of pure fun and great friendship within the band, plus months, days and never-ending hours of thinking about my future, I [made] the decision to leave the FREEDOM CALL camp.
"Believe it: for me it was quite a tough thing to come up to Chris, Daniel, Ilker and Nils to tell them that I don't feel like continuing shredding the guitar in FREEDOM CALL anymore. On one hand, it was a hard decision 'cause this line-up was pure rock 'n' roll, in my opinion, but on the other hand, it was an easy decision, 'cause I know that I couldn't go on like this for me and my future.
"So, why do I leave the band? As a lot of you know, I'm living in Switzerland and it takes me an unbelievable amount of time to play in FREEDOM CALL. It just got too much for me, as I think I wanna give at least 100% and not only 90% to play in this band. Of course, I still believe that without sweat, tears and engagement you won't get to any point in this business but I just figured out that I don't want to be that much involved in music business anymore. I just wanna concentrate on one professional band and that's by far enough if you're working eight-to-five besides the music thing. Living in another country, playing in two bands, that is just too much to take for me.
"Most important thing was to me, that FREEDOM CALL respects and understands my decision. And I'm glad that they totally do. We still have a great partnership and friendship, we still got a lot of fun together. And that's what I really appreciate!!!
"So, that's all I can say about it at the moment. I want you, the fans, to fucking party on with FREEDOM CALL, and I wish all the best to the guys in finding a new guitar player that will have as much fun in the band as I had with them.
"You guys rock, and thank you so much for everything! You made my last 4 years a pure adventure ride :-)
"Cheers and see you around!" | 0
