THE RODS To Release Wild Dogs Unchained Album In September
 ‘80s metal luminaries, The Rods, are back with Wild Dogs Unchained, a new album that combines reimagined classics from their past with masterfully crafted new songs. Wild Dogs Unchained is set for release on August 15 via Massacre Records.
Hooks, grooves, crafty, formidable, and rebellious are songwriting attributes that The Rods gladly embrace. On Wild Dogs Unchained, the veteran power trio continues their famed aural assault with songs like “Eyes Of A Dreamer” and “Tears For The Innocent,” revealing heretofore unrealized musical melodicism, while re-tooled classics, “Hurricane” and “Wild Dogs Unchained,” percolate with renewed vigor.
On Wild Dogs Unchained, the playing is harder, the grooving is heavier, and the singing more soulful than ever before. David “Rock” Feinstein (guitar/vocals), Freddy Villano (bass), and Carl Canedy (drums) have crafted a definitive Rods album aimed at pleasing die-hard fans and new audiences alike.
Once again mixed and mastered by Chris Collier, Wild Dogs Unchained flexes considerable musical muscle and builds upon the ironclad sonic template that these three musicians have forged over recent years. W.A.S.P.'s DOUGLAS BLAIR On Possible Follow-Up To 'Golgotha' Album: 'The Stuff We Had Was Sounding Really Cool'
 In a new interview with Stefan Nilsson of Roppongi Rocks, W.A.S.P. lead guitarist Douglas Blair was asked about possible new music from the Blackie Lawless-led outfit. He responded (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "Well, Blackie's touched on that in his [recent] interviews. A few years ago, at the close of the pandemic, we had time to get together and work on quite a lot of stuff, but now [all] this [touring activity] has taken off, so there hasn't been as much time to kind of get back to it. But if we finish this whole run, there may be time to revisit and see what we've got and where to take it from there. But the stuff we had was sounding really cool."
Blair was originally a member of W.A.S.P. for a short time in 1992. He was also a quick replacement on W.A.S.P.'s "Unholy Terror" tour in 2001 on two festival gigs when Chris Holmes left the band. Blair rejoined W.A.S.P. in 2006 and has played with the group ever since.
This past June, Lawless talked about the progress of the songwriting sessions for the follow-up to W.A.S.P.'s most recent studio album of all-new original material, 2015's "Golgotha", telling Stoyan Tsonev of Bulgaria's Z-Rock radio: "The tour schedule has been so crazy. Everybody wants to know when — 'When are you gonna have this? When are you gonna have that?' It's, like, well, you know what? It's a big world out there, and it takes a long time to get to all these different cities. For this tour that we're on, we just finished doing North America and South America. Now we're gonna be in Europe all this year. So it takes a long time to get to all these places. And so where does that leave us when we're finished? Then we go back and look at doing a book, maybe finishing the album. But, like I said, the touring schedule is so intense that there just hasn't been time to do everything."
In July 2024, Lawless confirmed to George Dionne of KNAC.COM that he and his W.A.S.P. bandmates had been working on music for the follow-up to "Golgotha". He said: "We have been, and last year, we had done quite a bit of work in between the American tour and the European tour, we did a lot of recording, a lot of demoing. And I thought I liked what I was hearing, and then I came back. I had a problem with my back last year when we were in Europe, and, actually, my back got broken while we were over there, so I had to have a couple of surgeries when we got home from the tour. And it gave me a lot of time to sit around, twiddle my thumbs and just listen to stuff. And I listened to the demos that we did, and there is some good moments, but it's not consistent. 'Golgotha' was a very consistent record. I mean, 'Golgotha', I think, is one of the best things I've ever been a part of. And to try to at least do something on that level…"
He continued: "Today, a band like us, it's all about your legacy, because we're not making records anymore to sell records. I mean, those days are gone. But what we do, or what any artist does when they make a new record now, they are competing against their past. So your new album effectively becomes your opening act, and it's an opening act that's going up against songs that the audience has heard and romanced in their heads for decades. That's stiff competition. So when something new comes out, for it to even be remotely considered good, in all honesty, it has to be better than the original stuff, and that's no joke.
"It had been a while since I listened to 'Golgotha', and I listened to it — I don't know — a couple months ago, and it was, like, 'Wow, this is a pretty good record,'" Lawless added. "And it has to be that good to compete with the 'L.O.V.E. Machine's and the 'I Wanna Be Somebody''s of the world. Because, again, people are romancing those songs in their head, and rightfully so.
"Music does a funny thing to our sense of time. It creates memories, the same way smell does and things like that. We remember where we were when we heard a certain song, and those are very powerful memories. And I'm glad we have that, but at the same time, when you're the person that has to create new music, you're constantly going up against that legacy.
"So, again, the new album will always be your opening act, and your opening act has to try harder just to get noticed," Blackie concluded.
W.A.S.P.'s latest release was "ReIdolized (The Soundtrack To The Crimson Idol)", which came out in February 2018. It was a new version of the band's classic 1992 album "The Crimson Idol", which was re-recorded to accompany the movie of the same name to mark the 25th anniversary of the original LP's release. The re-recorded version also features four songs missing from the original album.
Blackie previously spoke about the progress of the songwriting sessions for W.A.S.P.'s new LP in a 2024 interview with Meltdown of Detroit's WRIF radio station. He said: "We still are [working on it]. What happened was when we came back from the European tour, I had to have surgery and stuff, about a year prior to that, we had been working on a lot of new stuff. And when I came back, I've had a long time to go through those early demos, of what we have been working on. Listening to it with fresh ears, some of it's really good, but there's not enough of it yet where I would be comfortable in saying, 'Okay, this is finished, and let's go with it.' I'd like to go back and visit the drawing board, so to speak, and see what else is there. Because even from a two-year period of when we started working on that before to where we are right now, you're gonna gain so much, you're gonna grow so much."
Blackie continued: "I've learned you don't make records or I don't make records anymore that are spread out over a two- or three-year period, because the guy you are when you first start making it is not the guy you are when you finish making it. Get in, six months top to bottom, get that thing cranked out, because, like I said, if you don't, you end up running the risk of it kind of being a schizophrenic type of record where you've got one type of one thing and then the other half is something else and it has no real cohesiveness."
Asked what kind of stuff inspires him now, Blackie said: "Well, when we got ready to start this record a couple years ago, my mindset was I wanted to do a heavy, nasty, stinky rock and roll record. And that's where my heart was at. But when I started to write, that's not what was coming out. And so when you first start the process, you think, 'Okay. We'll go along with whatever comes out to begin with, but I wanna try to start steering this ship in a different direction as time goes by.' And that's just not what was happening. It was stuff that was more in-depth. And I thought, we did call 'Golgotha', that's one of those thinking man's records, and I thought, I don't wanna do that this time. I wanna do something that's a little lighter, like I said, a little nastier, stinkier old-time rock and roll, but as hard as I was trying to force it in that direction, that's not what was happening. Now, when we get done with this tour and the European tour next year, then it'll be time to start looking at that again in earnest. So who knows where we'll come out of it again? To give you an honest answer, I'd need a crystal ball right now to tell you that, 'cause I don't know."
In November 2023, Blackie addressed the high musical standard of W.A.S.P. most recent albums, telling Canada's The Metal Voice: "Nobody makes money making records anymore. So if you're going to make records now, you're doing it because of your legacy. And if you're going to do that, then you really have to make sure that it's as strong as it can be, because it's always gonna be measured against what you did to begin with."
He continued: "All bands, they make their bones the first five years they're together, the first five or six records they make; their whole legacy is cemented there. It doesn't mean you can't make good records later on down the line, but everything is gonna be constantly compared to that… In other words, think of whatever new record you do now as your opening act. It's always gonna be compared to that early stuff. And so for it to get an honest review or a fair shake, so to speak, that new record has to maybe be even better than the original stuff was, because people have had so many years to romance those older songs in their heads. And when you go up against people that have been doing that for a long time, it's hard to erase those memories, and you don't wanna do that anyway. But you just want the new stuff to have a chance to compete. And the only way that new stuff can do that is they have to be solid records."
W.A.S.P. kicked off the North American leg of the "Album ONE Alive" tour on October 26, 2024 at Fremont Theater in San Luis Obispo, California. The 39-city run made stops across North America in Vancouver, British Columbia; Toronto, Ontario; Minneapolis, Minnesota; Dallas, Texas; New York City; Orlando, Florida; and more before wrapping up on December 14, 2024 at the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles, California.
Along with bassist Mike Duda and lead guitarist Doug Blair, W.A.S.P. is joined by longtime drummer extraordinaire Aquiles Priester.
Because of the extensive back injuries Lawless suffered during the European leg of W.A.S.P.'s 40th-anniversary tour, the band's previously announced 2023 U.S. tour was canceled.
W.A.S.P.'s massive European leg of the 40th-anniversary world tour wrapped on May 18, 2023 in Sofia, Bulgaria at Universidada Sports Hall.
W.A.S.P. wrapped up its first U.S. tour in 10 years with a sold-out show on December 11, 2022 at The Wiltern in Los Angeles. This marked the 18th sold-out shows for the U.S. tour, which kicked off in late October 2022. W.A.S.P.'s performances included the return of the band's classic song "Animal (Fuck Like a Beast)", which hadn't been played live in over 15 years.

 US-based rising instrumental progressive metallers, Sometime In February, recently released their new studio album, Where Mountains Hide, via InsideOutMusic/Sony Music. DREAM THEATER Teams Up With Z2 For 'Parasomnia - The Graphic Album'
 The world of progressive music rejoiced in October 2023 when, after 13 years, Mike Portnoy rejoined his brothers John Petrucci, John Myung, Jordan Rudess and James LaBrie in the legendary DREAM THEATER. The resulting album, "Parasomnia", was an explosive hit, reaching No. 1 on the Hard Rock Album charts as it reinforced DREAM THEATER's status as the premier progressive metal band on the planet. Now, in partnership with Z2, the band is releasing the companion volume: "Dream Theater - Parasomnia: The Graphic Album".
In this exploration of just how thin the line is between the waking world and the world of dreams, this volume of eight stories dives deep into the songs contained within the "Parasomnia" album. The visual symbolism of the graphic album expands on the themes from the album, via the interpretations of Eisner-winning cover artist Tony Harris, whose iconography for each song is present not only on the cover, and begins each chapter, but is also available in the deluxe editions as a set of collectible enamel pins.
Regarding the experience of bringing DREAM THEATER's songs to life on the comic page, Nebula-award-winning author Vajra Chandrasekera said: "I was intrigued and delighted by the opportunity to write for this book! It's a very different medium for me, since nearly all my experience is in prose fiction, and I had a great time working with Rocky Obk, whose incredible art made my script into something strange and so beautiful. I hope everyone enjoys reading it as much as we enjoyed making it."

SEPULTURA's PAULO XISTO PINTO JR. Praises New Drummer GREYSON NEKRUTMAN: 'He's Amazing'
 During an appearance on "The David Ellefson Show" podcast, SEPULTURA bassist Paulo Xisto Pinto Jr. praised the band's new touring drummer, 23-year-old Greyson Nekrutman, who officially replaced SEPULTURA's longtime drummer Eloy Casagrande in February 2024. He said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "Greyson, he is a great guy. He has a very jazzy, totally different approach. I'm still adapting, learning with him day by day. Eloy was in the band for 13 years. It took me a while to really lock up with him. The easiest one, of course, was Igor [Cavalera, original SEPULTURA drummer], 'cause we grew up together. And then the other ones, I had to readapt, and even the way of playing, just to make SEPULTURA sound right. Each one is very unique and has their own particularities. That's why it's so nice.
"We've done some new recording with Greyson, and it sounds amazing," Paulo revealed. "[It's a] totally different approach, and it was, like, 'Don't try to be that much metal. Just be yourself. Be a jazz player. Try to bring into the metal your own style and you're gonna fly high, dude.' 'Cause he's amazing."
Asked by podcast co-host Joshua Toomey what it's like to have such a young bandmate in SEPULTURA, Paulo said: "Well, it's great, 'cause, it gave us new energy. And it's a way to exchange experience. Even though he's so young, he has his own experience that he can share with us. And to have the chance to be every day on stage, you learn more and more every day. So it's a great exchange, actually. It's beautiful. [I] love it."
SEPULTURA kicked off its farewell tour on March 1, 2024 at Arena Hall in Belo Horizonte, Brazil. The sold-out show marked the band's debut performance with Nekrutman, who previously played with SUICIDAL TENDENCIES.
SEPULTURA announced Casagrande's departure on February 27, 2024, explaining in a statement that he was leaving to join "another project", with Eloy later confirming that he is the new drummer of SLIPKNOT.
The news of Eloy's exit from SEPULTURA came just two months after the band announced it would celebrate its 40th anniversary in 2024 by embarking on a "farewell tour" which will cover the entire globe.
In SEPULTURA's statement, the remaining bandmembers expressed their shock over Casagrande's departure, saying they were "taken by surprise" that their now-former drummer would "abandon everything related to SEPULTURA" less than a month prior to the start of the tour.
SEPULTURA is putting together a live album commemorating its last run of shows. The band is recording 40 songs in 40 different cities for what will be a "massive compilation of our best, most energetic moments on stage," according to a statement released by SEPULTURA in December 2023.
SEPULTURA kicked off the North American leg of the massive "Celebrating Life Through Death" farewell tour on September 17, 2024 at the Concord Music Hall in Chicago, Illinois. The band played a career-spanning set that honored SEPULTURA's 40 years of existence. Joining SEPULTURA on this tour were Florida-based death metal veterans OBITUARY, iconic New York hardcore pioneers AGNOSTIC FRONT, and São Paulo, Brazil's death/thrash metallers CLAUSTROFOBIA.
In a recent interview with Germany's Metal Hammer magazine, SEPULTURA guitarist Andreas Kisser said that the band's final concert will take place will take place either in São Paulo, Brazil, or in SEPULTURA's original hometown of Belo Horizonte, Brazil. "We're still balancing these ideas," he explained. "But at the end of 2026, we'd like to do this last show. We'd like to stretch [out the tour]. There's no reason for us to stop in a hurry just because we announced [the] last [tour] two years ago or so. We had a great time last year. This year is already looking great…. We're doing Lollapalooza in South America — Brazil, Argentina and Chile. We have a few shows in Central America, a few festivals this year in Europe, a few special concerts. In 2026 we'd like to do all the big festivals and finish in Brazil."
Greyson is featured on ALICE IN CHAINS vocalist William Duvall's "11.12.21 Live-In-Studio Nashville" CD, which came out in June 2022. Nekrutman has also performed or recorded with Bakithi Kumalo, Darren Criss, Drumeo, Pearl Drums, Meinl Cymbals and has been featured in articles by Rolling Stone, Rhythm, Rhythm And Drum (Japan) and Sweetwater Music.

FISHBONE Release Mixed-Media Video For “Suckered By Sabotage”
 Legendary rock-punk-funk pioneers, Fishbone, deliver a mixed-media video featuring animation and live show footage for “Suckered By Sabotage”, a sonically wild, genre-defying ride through the pitfalls of overthinking, insecurity, and creative dysfunction.
“This song is about: the results of too much second-guessing and overthinking, coupled with insecurity and self-doubt,” says frontman Angelo Moore. “Leaving one unfulfilled and incomplete. This story was inspired by a particular work ethic that took place during a group’s creative, productive endeavor, which prevented an expeditious, timely result. It tells the story of how one can step in their own way as well as others, preventing progress.”
Keyboardist, trombone, and vocalist Christopher Dowd adds, “From Raymond Scott to One Drop, with a chorus of the deepest darkest funk to head nod to. It’s a Fishbone track that only Fishbone could genuinely pull off.”
The song is from their new album Stockholm Syndrome, a quintessential Fishbone experience—melding ska, punk, funk, jazz, and unfiltered chaos and commentary.

 THE JOE PERRY PROJECT kicked off its U.S. tour Wednesday night (August 13) at Hard Rock Event Center at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Tampa, Florida.

Due to a family emergency, STONE TEMPLE PILOTS' Eric Kretz is unable to participate in the JOE PERRY PROJECT eight-date tour, which will wrap August 23 in Port Chester, New York.
On Monday (August 11),Perry released the following statement via social media: "Unfortunately, due to a family emergency Eric Kretz will be unable to participate in the upcoming JOE PERRY PROJECT tour dates. Longtime JPP drummer Jason Sutter will join the band for the immediate future and Eric looks forward to rejoining the tour as soon as he is able."

They're all busy as hell but thankfully they're able to carve out some time for this run. And I'm not only lucky enough to have Brad Whitford onstage with me but Chris Robinson of THE BLACK CROWES! [who sang 'Fortunate One' on 'Sweetzerland Manifesto MKII'], Robert DeLeo from STP!!! and Buck Johnson who plays keys and sings with AEROSMITH, the HOLLYWOOD VAMPIRES, and is also a solo artist in his own right."
For the shows, the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame inductee says "the set list is gonna include my fav JPP cuts, STP, BLACK CROWES, and with Brad we'll be hitting the AERO hits and some deep cuts and then ya never know!!!! Perry launched THE JOE PERRY PROJECT back in 1979 after his departure from AEROSMITH. THE JOE PERRY PROJECT released three albums before Perry returned to AEROSMITH in 1984.
Prior to the current run of shows, Perry last toured with THE JOE PERRY PROJECT in 2023.

OZZY OSBOURNE To Be Honored By ASTON VILLA Football Club At First Home Game Since His Passing
 Aston Villa Football Club will remember legendary BLACK SABBATH singer Ozzy Osbourne ahead of Saturday's (August 16) Premier League opener against Newcastle United at Villa Park in Birmingham, United Kingdom.
Ozzy, who grew up in Aston, sadly passed away late last month aged 76, having always held a special connection to the club and the community he came from.
At the beginning of last month, the Prince Of Darkness headlined the unforgettable "Back To The Beginning" concert at Villa Park. He took to the stage for the final time with an all-star lineup of rock legends, including his iconic band BLACK SABBATH.
At Aston Villa's first home game since his passing, the club will come together to pay tribute to Ozzy and his legacy in several ways.
A video tribute will be shown on the big screens immediately following the players' warmup, while the teams will walk out to a backdrop of Ozzy's live "Crazy Train" performance from "Back To The Beginning".
On the external wall of the beloved Holte Pub, the club have commissioned a mural dedicated to Ozzy featuring the details of the iconic tifo that adorned the Holte End ahead of Aston Villa's Champions League fixture against Celtic last season.
In the Fan Zone, Bostin Brass, who performed at Ozzy's funeral procession in Birmingham city center, will play a catalog of Ozzy's and BLACK SABBATH's greatest hits. Aston Villa has also kept a little piece of history in the Fan Zone Bar which was used as the exclusive artist backstage area for "Back To The Beginning". Parts of the original branding and carved trees are there for fans to see, touch, take photos and remember the night Ozzy celebrated where it all started.
In the Villa Store, Aston Villa's book of condolences is open for supporters to add their messages which will be then presented to Ozzy's family.
Aston Villa is proud to remember Ozzy Osbourne, a music legend, and his connection to the club.
Ozzy died on July 22 of a heart attack, his death certificate revealed. The certificate filed in London also said Osbourne suffered from coronary artery disease and Parkinson's disease.
A private funeral service for Ozzy was held on July 31 on the 250-acre grounds of the house the legendary BLACK SABBATH singer and his wife/manager Sharon bought in 1993 in Buckinghamshire, England. Only 110 of the singer's friends and family members attended the service, including his SABBATH bandmates, Robert Trujillo (METALLICA),Rob Zombie, Zakk Wylde, Marilyn Manson and Corey Taylor (SLIPKNOT).
The day before the private funeral, thousands of fans gathered in the streets of Birmingham to pay tribute to Ozzy. Sharon, along with their children Aimée, Kelly and Jack, joined mourners for the emotional tribute.

 Silver Lining Music will release "No Life 'Til Leather - A Tribute To Metallica's Kill 'Em All" on November 14. The first single is THE ALMIGHTY's blistering, full-throttle cover of METALLICA's legendary "The Four Horsemen", THE ALMIGHTY's first recorded work with their founding lineup since 1991, chosen by the band as both a nod to their roots and a declaration of intent.
THE ALMIGHTY guitarist Ricky Warwick comments: "'The Four Horsemen' by METALLICA got us back into the studio with the original lineup for the first time since 1991… Unbelievable.
"When the opportunity presented itself, it was really a no-brainer. METALLICA has been a huge influence for us. It was a bit nerve-racking because we had not been in the studio for such a long time. DIAMOND HEAD's version of METALLICA's "No Remorse" was originally included on a reimagined and re-recorded version of DIAMOND HEAD's "Lightning To The Nations" album, which was released in 2020 via Silver Lining Music.
"I wanted to cover a song from METALLICA's debut album, 'Kill 'Em All'," DIAMOND HEAD guitarist Brian Tatler explained, "partly because METALLICA covered songs from DIAMOND HEAD's debut album 'Lightning To The Nations' and it felt like things have come full circle to me. None of the band members knew how to play any of the songs from 'Kill 'Em All', and I eventually decided we should all learn 'No Remorse'. Then when we got into the rehearsal room, we played 'No Remorse' and immediately it just sounded great; it was very 'DIAMOND HEAD' and it really suited us as a band. Of the four covers we ended up doing, 'No Remorse' sounded the best straight away. I've seen METALLICA live over twenty times and they don't play 'No Remorse' very often, but it's always great when they do."
Back in December 2011, SAXON's Biff Byford joined METALLICA on stage for the first of four intimate shows at the 1,200-capacity Fillmore in San Francisco as part of the week-long celebration of its 30th anniversary as a band for fan club members only. The iconic metal vocalist performed the SAXON classic "Motorcycle Man" with METALLICA.
It wasn't the first time Biff and METALLICA had surprised their fans with a live rendition of the song: in 2009, Byford joined the San Francisco heavy metal giants in Paris, at Palais Omnisport de Bercy.
METALLICA's second-ever gig was opening for SAXON, and Biff has been a longtime friend of the California band; like many other seminal bands of the genre, METALLICA always recognized SAXON as one of their main influences.
When METALLICA played Sheffield Arena on February 28, 2009, they invited as VIP guests former SAXON members Graham Oliver and Steve Dawson.
There has always been a strong link between the pioneering MOTÖRHEAD and mighty METALLICA. A unique bond of friendship between the two has stood over the decades, with METALLICA even playing Lemmy's 50th birthday party in 1995. In turn, MOTÖRHEAD have paid homage to some of METALLICA's finest compositions, even winning a Grammy Award for their cover of "Whiplash" in 2004.
METALLICA paid tribute to MOTÖRHEAD frontman Lemmy on its 2016 album "Hardwired... To Self-Destruct", which came out less than a year after the iconic rocker's death.

AT THE GATES Vocalist TOMAS LINDBERG Is Battling Rare Form Of Oral Cancer
 Tomas Lindberg of Swedish melodic death metal pioneers AT THE GATES is receiving "around-the-clock" care at an unspecified hospital after being diagnosed with adenoid cystic carcinoma (ACC),a rare, slow-growing but aggressive cancer that typically develops in the salivary glands, particularly the minor salivary glands of the head and neck.
Earlier today, AT THE GATES released the following statement via social media: "We want to take a moment to update you on what's been happening with AT THE GATES, and to do so, we need to take you back about a year and a half.
"Below, you'll find a message from Tomas, written this past March 2025, where he reflects on the past 15 months and the reasons for the radio silence. However, in early May, Tomas experienced a health setback. Since then, he has been hospitalised and has been receiving dedicated care in a specialized ward where he is being closely monitored around the clock.
"While this is a challenging time, we're staying positive but, even in a best-case-scenario we know the recovery will take a long time.
"We kindly ask that you respect Tomas' and his family's privacy during this period.
"We know how much the band and the music mean to him — Tomas is incredibly proud of the new AT THE GATES album we've been working on, and we will try to get you more details on this upcoming release very soon.
"Thank you for your ongoing support, patience, and understanding.
Tomas's original statement, written back in March but only now released by his AT THE GATES bandmates, reads as follows: "Hello everyone. I guess some of you may have been wondering why it has been so silent on the AT THE GATES front lately. Well, in December 2023, I was diagnosed with Adenoid Cystic Carcinoma (a cancer in the mouth and palate) and have since then gone through a lot, it has been a very tough year. First there was a major surgery, where they took away a big part of the roof of the mouth. This was followed by radiation therapy for two months, and ever since it has been a long hard path towards recovery. Now, in the beginning of 2025, they have found some remains of the cancer, and it is inaccessible by surgery or radiation. So, we will see what the next step is, but probably some form of chemotherapy, to keep the cancer in check.
"Luckily, we recorded vocals for the demos for the new album before all of this happened. The last version of the vocals, the ones that will end up on the album, were recorded in ONE day, mostly one takes, the DAY before the surgery, just to make sure we HAD the album, so to speak. So the vocals were actually recorded BEFORE the rest of the album.... a bit different, but it felt good to have it done.
"We have now decided to not wait any longer to release this new album. We had first planned to wait with the release until we knew if/when I would be able to sing again, and we were able to support the release with shows. Now when everything about the future is a bit more unsure it feels good to deliver this album. It is an album that we all are very proud of, and it's the first time in 10 years that Jonas and I have worked together with Anders writing an album's worth of music. It is a bit more of a return to the 'roots', probably best described as a mix between the two last albums we did with Anders ('Slaughter Of The Soul' and 'At War With Reality'). Hope you all will enjoy it!
"Please respect that we don't want to make a big thing about all this, and that I won't be answering interviews concerning the cancer, the treatment or the recovery. We just wanted this to be out in the open, as we wanted to explain to our fans why we have been quiet for such a long time.
"I hope you all are well. Take care of yourself, your loved ones and the time you have on this earth."
According to Medical News Today, most people who develop ACC live for at least five years. However, most will also develop a recurrence of the cancer.
One study of 160 individuals with ACC found that the five-year survival rate was 89%, while the 15-year survival rate was 40%.
Back in October 2022, AT THE GATES announced that founding member and guitarist Anders Björler was returning to the band's lineup after a handful of years of absence.
In August 2022, AT THE GATES parted ways with its guitarist of the previous five years, Jonas Stålhammar.
Stålhammar joined the band in September 2017 as the replacement for Anders Björler, who left AT THE GATES in March of that year.
AT THE GATES' latest studio album, "The Nightmare Of Being", came out in 2021.
2018's "To Drink From The Night Itself" was the first AT THE GATES album written and recorded without Anders Björler.

CORONER Announces First New Album In More Than 30 Years, 'Dissonance Theory'; Shares 'Renewal' Single
 After more than three decades, Swiss pioneering technical metallers CORONER return with a new studio album: "Dissonance Theory" will be released on October 17, 2025 worldwide via Century Media Records.
To kick off the campaign for CORONER's upcoming release, a first new single titled "Renewal" is being made available today. Check it out in a video clip directed by Dariusz Szermanowicz below.
CORONER's guitarist, songwriter and producer Tommy Vetterli (a.k.a. Tommy T. Baron) checked in with the following comment about the band's new music: "I thought a lot about what CORONER should sound like today, but I pretty quickly realized that looking backwards wouldn't serve us. Of course, over time you develop a certain signature as a musician. So even if the material is new, it might still feel like a bridge to earlier phases — simply because it's me writing it. That said, we didn't set out to continue a legacy. We just wanted to create something honest and grounded in the present. 'Renewal' now opens the chapter for what became the first CORONER album I'm fully satisfied with, start to finish. So we'll let the music speak for itself — you'll know if it speaks to you."
"Dissonance Theory" contains 10 new songs across 47 minutes, recorded by Tommy Vetterli at New Sound Studios in Switzerland and mixed/mastered by Jens Bogren at Fascination Street Studios (OPETH, KREATOR, AMON AMARTH) in Sweden. The album's cover artwork (see below) was created by Stefan Thanneur.

In an August 2024 interview with Serbia's Agoraphobic News, Veterrli stated about CORONER's long-awaited follow-up to 1993's "Grin" album: "It's more mature, I would say. In the past, we wrote the music more to show off that we practiced a lot, and nowadays we write more from the heart and from the balls."
Asked what the new CORONER LP will sound like, Tommy responded: "It's gonna sound like typical CORONER, but, yeah, a little more mature. There's a lot of technical parts in it as well, but it's a little bit more song-oriented, and it also sounds very weird, like it always did."
Regarding whether the new CORONER music will be similar to "Grin", Tommy said: "I would say maybe 'Grin' is the closest to the new one, but there is also a lot of stuff more from like the third [1989's 'No More Color'] or fourth [1991's 'Mental Vortex'] album. But it's not possible, 30 years later, you make the same [album], and it also would be totally stupid and boring."
Veterrli previously discussed CORONER's new music in a December 2022 interview with BLABBERMOUTH.NET. Asked if the band's next LP will follow in the path of "Grin", a noticeably less thrash-oriented album than its predecessors, he responded: "It's hard to say. It's more 'Grin' than 'Reborn Through Hate'. For me, these are songs. It's a showcase of what we learned and practiced. Everybody who has heard the pre-production, including the record company, is really happy and thinks that's the way the band should sound. It's more about feel and is song-oriented. The technical stuff is still there, but not the main thing. It's going to be weird, like all CORONER songs. My goal is always to do something I didn't hear one-hundred times before. Most bands are a copy of another band. There are a lot of great bands, but I miss the freshness or originality."
In the 1990s, CORONER caused a stir in the music industry with its progressive and technically sophisticated music style. All over the world, CORONER was considered one of the most unconventional avant-garde metal bands. Today, CORONER is a cult band and is highly respected not only by musicians such as Max Cavalera (SEPULTURA),Franz Treichler (THE YOUNG GODS) and Mille Petrozza (KREATOR),but also by metal fans all over the world.
After the release of "Grin" in 1993, the band split up. Two years later, a best-of album, "Coroner", was released. Sixteen years passed. Then, in 2011, Vetterli, Broder and then-drummer and founding member Marky Edelmann returned to the stage, playing a potpourri of numbers from their albums at concerts.
CORONER in 2014 announced the addition of drummer Diego Rapacchietti to the group's ranks. He made his live debut with CORONER on May 29, 2014, at Salzhaus in Winterthur, Switzerland.
