CARPATHIAN FOREST, IN THE WOODS, DEN SAAKALDTE, PANTHEON I, DARK FOREST Members Join Forces To Relaunch SVARTELDER Project; Demo Track StreamingHaving allowed it to remain dormant for a few years, founder and frontman Doedsadmiral has given his black metal project Svartelder a considerable infusion of both enthusiasm and talent by bringing in members of Carpathian Forest, In The Woods, Den Saakaldte, Pantheon I and Old Forest to form a new lineup.
Whilst Svartelder's roots were initially planted in Norwegian black metal, it is obvious that an influx of musicians with this kind of experience brings with it a whole different set of influences, as each of the members contribute their own skill-sets and style to the overall sound. So much so, in fact, that the band's newly debuted demo track "Askebundet" clearly shows that Svartelder's music is expanding outwards from straight black metal to include more varied elements.
As to the actual lineup itself, the musicians have kept their identities a secret by changing their usual names. Aside from Doedsadmiral on vocals, the rest of the lineup comprises Maletoth on bass and guitars, AK-47 on drums, and Kobold on keys.
The band are currently working on their debut full-length album and will be looking for a label. The demo track "Askebundet" can be heard below:

BOREALIS Sign With AFM, New Album Teaser AvailableCanadian melodic metallers Borealis have inked a deal with AFM Records and will release their new album, Purgatory, on June 19th in Europe, and on July 21st in North America.
After the self-released World Of Silence (2008) and 2011’s Fall From Grace (Lion Music/Hydrant Music), now with Purgatory the band reaches a whole new level. Their value not only comes from the tasteful instrumentations, but also from Matt Marinelli’s expressive voice which elegantly guides through the twelve songs on Purgatory. Borealis create atmospheric depth like few others are able to. Their partly quite modern guitar riffs merge with classic power metal, progressive elements and a symphonic touch, to build a heavy and intense, yet melodic sound which fans of Evergrey, Kamelot and Nocturnal Rites will embrace to the fullest.
Tracklisting:
"Past The Veil"
"From The Ashes"
"The Chosen One"
"Destiny"
"Darkest Sin"
"My Peace"
"Place Of Darkness"
"Welcome To Eternity"
"Sacrifice"
"Rest My Child"
"Purgatory"
"Revelation"

BEAUVOIR FREE: 'Angels Cry' Video ReleasedFrontiers Music Srl will release "American Trash", the new album from rock and roll veterans Jean Beauvoir and Micki Free, on June 3 in Europe and June 7 in North America.
The official video for the song "Angels Cry" can be seen below.
Best known as the driving force behind the legendary CROWN OF THORNS self-titled debut album in 1994, Beauvoir and Free's collective credits read like a "who's-who" of rock, with a list of collaborations that includes the likes of the RAMONES, KISS, Debbie Harry, THE PRETENDERS, John Waite, Lionel Richie, N'SYNC, Billy Gibbons of ZZ TOP, Bill Wyman, Carlos Santana and Prince, to name but a few.
The duo both coincidentally moved back to Los Angeles in 2003 and reconnected. They discussed joining forces again for a new project and after a few shows in Europe in 2013, a deal with Frontiers was inked for a brand new album, which was recorded in 2014.
The result is "American Trash", an album that shaped up as "the continuation of the BEAUVOIR FREE sound as the writing team for the CROWN OF THORNS debut," explains Jean Beauvoir.
"When we write together, there really is this magic. We know we want killer guitar riffs and major melodic chorus... and this is what turns out in our songs, in BEAUVOIR FREE style."
All the new songs came out like "rocking babies" in the BEAUVOIR FREE fold. "And all represent the sound only Jean and I create together. The 'inimitable' sound of BEAUVOIR FREE," says Micki Free.
"We both feel this CD is some of the best work we have done, right up their next to the CROWN OF THORNS debut," adds Jean. "We want to get out on the road and bring it to the fans. We receive a lot of enquires of, 'When are you guys coming back out on tour?' and people telling us they can't wait to hear the new material. Frankly, we can't wait for our fans to hear 'American Trash' as well."
An EPK (Electronic Press Kit) for "American Trash" is available below.
"American Trash" track listing:
01. Angels Cry02. Morning After03. American Trash04. Whiplash05. Just Breathe06. Shotgun To The Heart07. Never Give Up08. Cold Dark December09. It's Never Too Late10. She's A K.O.11. There's No Starting Over

Video: HALESTORM Performs Acoustic Cover Of LITTLE BIG TOWN's 'Girl Crush' On SiriusXM's OctaneVideo footage of HALESTORM performing an acoustic version of the band's cover version of LITTLE BIG TOWN's "Girl Crush" at the studios of SiriusXM's Octane can be seen below.
HALESTORM's third album, "Into The Wild Life", sold around 56,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 5 on The Billboard 200 chart.
"Into The Wild Life" was released on April 14. The CD follows up 2012's "The Strange Case Of…" and is already being described as HALESTORM's most diverse and adventurous record yet.
HALESTORM singer Lzzy Hale told The Pulse Of Radio that the band set out to make a unified album despite its many different sounds. "This entire record is like one big song with different elements to it, so it's hard to pick it apart — for me, it's hard to pick it and say, 'Oh, well, that's my favorite song,' because they all don't sound alike and each one lends itself to the other," she said.
In addition to its Grammy win, HALESTORM is the first female-fronted rock band to lodge three consecutive No. 1 tracks at the top of the rock radio chart.
HALESTORM began a North American tour with THE PRETTY RECKLESS on April 22 in Nashville.

Video: KROKUS Performs 'Screaming In The Night' At Whisky A Go GoVideo footage of Swiss rockers KROKUS performing their classic song "Screaming In The Night" on May 6 at the Whisky A Go Go in West Hollywood, California can be seen below.
KROKUS's U.S. tour kicked off on Monsters Of Rock cruise and continued through a series of cities, ending at the Whisky A Go Go.
KROKUS celebrated its 40th anniversary with a homecoming show where they began in Solothurn, Switzerland, culminating in their sweaty new live album, "Long Stick Goes Boom: Live From Da House of Rust".
"Dirty Dynamite", the 17th studio album from KROKUS, entered the German Media Control chart at position No. 17. This marked the first time in KROKUS' history that the band landed in the Top 20 of the German chart.
"Dirty Dynamite" was released on February 22, 2013 in Europe via Sony Music and in North America on March 5, 2013 via The End Records. The CD marked the return of KROKUS guitarist Mandy Meyer after 30 years. Sound engineer for the recording sessions was again Dennis Ward, who also recorded the band's previous album, "Hoodoo".
Drummer Freddy Steady left KROKUS in May 2011 because he "concluded that he really wanted to play music just for fun in small clubs rather than conquering the world, playing arenas on huge stages with pyro props, etc.," according to guitarist Fernando Von Arb.
KROKUS has since recruited Flavio Mezzodi as the band's new drummer.

STAIND, EX-THREE DAYS GRACE Members Form New Group SAINT ASONIAAccording to The Pulse Of Radio, SAINT ASONIA is the name of a new rock "supergroup" led by former THREE DAYS GRACE frontman Adam Gontier, with the rest of the group reportedly consisting of STAIND guitarist Mike Mushok, ex-FINGER ELEVEN drummer Rich Beddoe and journeyman bassist Corey Lowery. While that lineup has not been officially confirmed, a 38-second teaser video clearly shows clips of Gontier, Mushok and possibly Beddoe and Lowery.
The teaser video states that "the combined forces behind the group have amassed 25 Top 10 rock singles and 17 Number One hit songs."
The clip also hints at something arriving on May 16, with a debut single likely.
Gontier has kept a low profile since leaving THREE DAYS GRACE in December 2012. The band replaced him with Matt Walst and recently release a new album called "Human".
Mushok's band, STAIND, has not released new music since 2011 and as of last December had no plans to return to the studio. Mushok played briefly in 2013 with ex-METALLICA bassist Jason Newsted in his self-named band.
Beddoe exited FINGER ELEVEN in late 2013. The Canadian act recorded a new album late last year but release details are yet to be announced.
Lowery's resume includes stints with STUCK MOJO, SWITCHED, STEREOMUD, DARK NEW DAY and most recently EYE EMPIRE.

HOLY GRAIL To Enter Studio This WeekendLos Angeles-based metal powerhouse HOLY GRAIL will enter the studio this weekend with Grammy Award-winning producer John Spiker to begin tracking its third album. A fall release via Prothetic is expected.
Following an extensive tour campaign to promote the band's 2013 release, "Ride The Void", HOLY GRAIL spent much of 2014 writing its as-yet-untitled new CD. Guitarist Eli Santana and drummer Tyler Meahl also kept busy by touring extensively with HUNTRESS, whose lead guitarist Blake Meahl is Tyler's brother.
Featuring a blistering dual lead guitar attack and powerful vocals by James Paul Luna, HOLY GRAIL burst onto the scene in 2009 with its debut EP, "Improper Burial", which led Metal Hammer to call the group "one of the most promising traditionally-inclined metal bands to emerge from the U.S. in the past decade." It was quickly followed by "Crisis In Utopia", which Revolver called "a nearly flawless full-length debut that ecstatically revives undiluted, straight-up metal in all its gauntlet-clad glory" and named one of the 20 best albums of 2010.
In addition to the bands listed above, HOLY GRAIL has toured alongside such notable acts as BLIND GUARDIAN, VALIENT THORR, ORANGE GOBLIN, HELLYEAH, HIGH ON FIRE, BLACK LABEL SOCIETY and MUNICIPAL WASTE. The group has also performed at such major international metal festivals as Wacken Open Air (Germany), Download (UK), Soundwave (Australia) and Loud Park (Japan).
Last month, HOLY GRAIL triumphantly returned to the stage with a live performance at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California during the home opener of the L.A. Kiss arena football team. The band expects to announce summer tour dates in the coming weeks.

GRUESOME Unleash Special Cover Of SLAYER’s “Black Magic”; AudioGruesome, the debilitating death metal faction featuring members of Exhumed, Possessed, Malevolent Creation and Derketa, have released a very special cover of Slayer's "Black Magic”. The band's latest reconfiguration of the old-school gem appears on the deluxe digital edition of the band's Savage Land full-length.
"We chose our cover tunes the same way we tried to write the album," relays guitarist/vocalist Matt Harvey. "We just did what Chuck (Schuldiner) would have done. Death was never a band particularly known for their cover song repertoire, but they did occasionally close their set with a rendition of “Black Magic” and it's a cover that dates as far back as an old 1984 Death/Mantas rehearsal, so we felt it would be appropriate. We were considering “The Exorcist” by Possessed, since Death started recording a cover of it during Individual Thought Patterns, but since (Gruesome guitarist) Dan (Gonzalez) is in Possessed, it was a bit weird. Again, we tried to approach the song as Death doing a Slayer cover, so... hopefully we came close to the mark."
A respectful celebration of the sound of the early Death records, the collective was borne out of guitarist/vocalist Matt Harvey (Exhumed) and drummer Gus Rios' (Malevolent Creation) mutual involvement with the Death To All tours - Harvey serving as frontman for the original nine-member mini-tour and Rios performing "Baptized In Blood" and working with DTA drummer Sean Reinert on the following US tour where Exhumed filled in as support on a several dates.
The pair stayed in touch and discussed their mutual love (obsession?) for the early half of Death's catalog. After deliberating and ultimately discarding the idea of putting together another incarnation of DTA to focus exclusively on the first two albums, Harvey half-jokingly suggested writing their own songs in that vein. It wasn't long before the idea gained traction, and the "band" had five songs written. With Harvey composing in California, Rios recruited Possessed guitarist Daniel Gonzalez and Derketa bassist Robin Mazen to record the material in Florida, while Harvey tracked his vocals on the West Coast. The result is eight-track debut, Savage Land, a truly gruesome slab of late-'80s/early-'90s Florida-styled death metal. Tragically, there will never be any truly new Death material, but Gruesome is humbly determined to keeping the band's classic sound alive as faithfully as possible.
Elaborates Harvey, "We had such a blast writing and recording this album, I just hope people enjoy it half as much as I enjoyed doing it. It was a great experience working with my friends in Florida and getting to write and record my take on the Death sound. I'm beyond happy with the way everything came out and I hope people take it as the loving, respectful piece of work that it is. I know that sounds counterintuitive for a death metal album, but the whole band is really a super nerdy fan letter to Chuck (Schuldiner), James (Murphy), Rick (Rozz), Terry (Butler), Chris (Reifert), Paul (Masvidal), Sean (Reinert), and Stevie D (DiGiorgio) for making records that have given me literally decades of enjoyment. Having had a chance to meet and hang out with all of those dudes from the early Death days, with the exception of Bill Andrews, has been nothing but humbling, rewarding, enlightening and has only deepened my love for the band and made it that much more personal. So I decided to write an album about '80s horror movies and deadly diseases, which is what anyone would do under the circumstances, right? Anyway, if you like late '80s Death, I sincerely hope you enjoy our take on it, which is really what this album is, with all the drippy blood and inverted crosses in the logo that that implies."
Savage Land was recorded by Rios and Gonzalez at Riversound Studios in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, mixed by Jarrett Pritchard at Mana Studios in St. Petersburg, Florida and features a guest guitar solo on "Closed Casket" by James Murphy as well as cover art by legendary illustrator Ed Repka (Death, Megadeth, Massacre, Athiest et el).

GWAR Parts Ways With KIM DYLLAGWAR, the world's premier shock rock band, today announced that Kim Dylla was released from the band directly following the fall 2014 "GWAR Eternal Tour", and will no longer perform with the group. Dylla played the character of Vulvatron, a buxom Scumdog from the distant future, on the band's last national tour. The group garnered quite a bit of press when it was erroneously reported that Dylla, in the role of Vulvatron, was the new lead singer for the band.
Brent Purgason, slave of the recently defrosted intergalactic barbarian Pustulus Maximus, had this to say: "Kim did a great job, but we wanted to go a different direction with the Vulvatron character. You will absolutely see more of Vulvatron in the future, just not portrayed by Kim. There is no ill will, no acrimony, and no drama. We respect Kim's talent without question, it just isn't what we needed in the character."
Vulvatron was previously described as "genetically engineered to the optimum proportions for a female of her species." She was said to have returned from the year 69,000, where she was a high-ranking Scumdog assassin in the battle against futuro-fascist forces. Her primary functions included the mastery of the arts of war, quantum mechanics and intergalactic musicology.
GWAR's "30 Years of Total Domination Tour" will kick off on late August and will feature support from BUTCHER BABIES and BATTLECROSS. The trek will launch August 25 in Millvale, Pennsylvania and wrap on September 18 in Rochester, New York.

Trailer:
TesseracT have achieved a new standard for outlandish gig locations by playing the first ever set on an igloo, thought to be the world’s biggest. The immense snow structure, spanning the equivalent of 3.5 double decker buses near Yllas village, Finland, was part of the Jägermeister Ice Cold Gig series, which puts artists to the test as they perform in unconventional, ice cold conditions.
The stunning location played host to the hour-long show which included fan favourite track “Nocturne”. The gig was performed to a unique crowd, pulling in reindeer, skiers, and Sami tribesmen from some 20-50 kilometres away.
In the words of guitarist James Monteith: “We’re great mates first and foremost, so we’ve shared some amazing moments. But even after playing the main stage at Sonisphere last year, the Jägermeister Ice Cold Gig was definitely TessaracT’s most challenging performance to date, and what an amazing experience it was. Something we’ll remember forever!
“The final stage build was tougher going than we expected - we were shifting one-tonne blocks of ice to create the steps leading up to the stage. Fortunately, we had a team of locals to help us and the effort was well worth it. It was absolutely freezing, but as soon as we saw the crowd of people adrenalin took over, the hard work was forgotten and we battled through the gig.”

DIABOLICUM To Unleash First Full-Length In 14 Years Via Code666; Artwork, Tracklisting RevealedFollowing a fourteen-year slumber, cult Swedish industrial black metal misanthropes, Diabolicum, now featuring the diseased vocal conjurings of Shining's Niklas Kvarforth, return with the tormented tones of third full-length, Ia Pazuzu (The Abyss Of The Shadows).
Initially spawed in 1994 by Sasrof and Thorne under the Imperial moniker, Diabolicum stand among the prime instigators of the industrial black metal scene. The collective's first demo appeared under the title Mori Voluntaria. The tape was recorded in just two days at a mental hospital and included the session vocals of Blackblood (Tommy Dahlström now of Aeon). Following various personnel shifts, Imperial unleashed The Imperial Darkness demo with vocals and lead guitar handled by Thyrfing (Stefan Dhalberg) with third demo, De FÆrdÆmdas Legion, unveiled by Arte De Occulta shortly thereafter. By 1997, members of Imperial formed black metal collective, Helvete, together with Mysteriis and Kraath of Setherial. The project was put on hold when guitarist Sasrof took over bass responsibilities for Setherial.
Two years later, Imperial changed their name to Diabolicum. Nathzion (AKA Zeb Nilsson now of Aeon) joined the ranks as lead guitarist and Diabolicum's debut, the annihilating The Grandeur Of Hell, dropped in 1999 via Napalm Records. In the summer of 2000, Diabolicum fled Napalm to explore new opportunities and forged a union with Italian imprint, Code666. Brandishing a flawless meld of Swedish black metal and industrial ambient noise, 2001's resulting The Dark Blood Rising full-length is now considered a cult classic among the industrial black metal scene. In the years to follow, the band published a collection of early demos (The Killing Spree 1.5) and two split 7" EP - one with Watain; the other with Angst - before penning their third diabolic opus with new vocalist Niklas Kvarforth (Shining) and lead guitarist Likstrand. After several setbacks and delays, the band is finally ready to undrape Ia Pazuzu (The Abyss Of The Shadows). Spewing forth nine merciless tracks of sonic scorn, and featuring guest appearances by Malfeitor Fabban (Aborym) and Vargher (Naglfar, Bewitched, Ancient Wisdom), with cryptic artwork by Maxime Taccardi, Ia Pazuzu (The Abyss Of The Shadows) is anguished, devouring and destined to become a new milestone within the industrial black metal community.
