IN THIS MOMENT

IN THIS MOMENT's MARIA BRINK Thanks Haters For Inspiring 'Sex Metal Barbie' Video

"Sex Metal Barbie", the new video from IN THIS MOMENT, can be seen below. The clip was directed by IN THIS MOMENT singer Maria Brink, who told Loudwire: "I am very excited about the release of the 'Sex Metal Barbie' video. Directing it was a liberating experience.

"When you write music that you are very passionate about, being able to bring the visual aspect of it alive with the music is what ties everything together.

"'Sex Metal Barbie' is all about rising above hate. I used other people's hatred to create this song and concepts."

She added: "I really wanted this video to convey that other people's perceptions of us are just their own twisted and warped views. I wanted a sarcastic and delusional visual to bring this video alive.

"Lastly, I want to thank all the people who feel compelled to express negativity toward us for all the inspiration. I couldn't have done it without them."

"Sex Metal Barbie" is taken from IN THIS MOMENT's fifth album, "Black Widow", which sold 36,000 copies in the U.S. during its first week of release to debut at No. 8 on The Billboard 200 chart.

As previously reported, IN THIS MOMENT released "Rise Of The Blood Legion – Greatest Hits (Chapter 1)" on May 5 in celebration of their first decade of work. The album includes material from their first four studio albums, including "Prayers", "The Promise", "Blood" and "Adrenalize". Material from "Black Widow" album does not appear.

In addition, the album comes with a DVD featuring some of their greatest video hits.

The band began a U.S. headlining tour on April 17 in Portland, Maine and continue through late May, with several festival stops along the way.

IN THIS MOMENT signed with Atlantic Records in 2013 after completing its contract with Century Media Records.

ANNEKE VAN GIERSBERGEN To Release 4-CD AGUA DE ANNIQUE Box Set In June

ANNEKE VAN GIERSBERGEN To Release 4-CD AGUA DE ANNIQUE Box Set In June

Dutch vocalist Anneke van Giersbergen (The Gentle Storm, ex-The Gathering) has checked in with the following update:

"Hey everybody! A beautiful 4CD box set collecting the four Agua De Annique albums will be released June 15th. This release also features additional photos and artwork as well as extensive liner notes collected by Carl Begai (BraveWords). When I started my solo career in 2007 I felt the sky was the limit. The four albums under the Agua de Annique tag (2007-2010) mark a very important part of my career and my life in general. The freedom to explore various musical styles and forms was super exciting. It also gave me the opportunity to collaborate with many artist friends. I am very proud of this wonderful box set and I have been actively involved in this creation. Mark Uyl is responsible for the cover picture and he also created this atmospheric short introduction video:"

The four Agua De Annique albums featured in the box set are as follows:

Air (including one bonus track)
Pure Air
In Your Room
Live In Europe

Following is an excerpt from the liner notes:

Anneke's solo sound is often referred to as pop-rock oriented but the first Agua de Annique record, Air, exhibited dark undertones similar to The Gathering's latter years with her behind the microphone. A song such as 'Witnesses', could have easily found a home on How To Measure A Planet?, or 'Sunken Soldiers Ball’ might have appeared on Nighttime Birds, but Anneke effectively turned the tables on any "copycat" thinking with stripped down tracks like 'My Girl', 'Asleep' and 'Yalin' or the dark rock contrasts of 'You Are Nice!'. Air offered an easily travelled bridge between Anneke's past and her new musical vision, making the single 'Day After Yesterday' a welcome first step out on her own.

"I was very, very excited," Anneke says. "To leave The Gathering was a huge step but I wasn't scared of the future because I had no idea what was going to happen. My thinking was 'Why should I be scared of that?' I had no idea what people were expecting. Some people thought I'd go in a completely different direction from The Gathering, other people thought I was just going to do the exact same kind of music. I didn't listen to anyone when I was writing the songs; I was focused on doing my own thing."

More details will be revealed soon

ROGER WATERS “Angry” Over State Of Music Industry; “It’s Just Stealing!”

ROGER WATERS “Angry” Over State Of Music Industry; “It’s Just Stealing!”

The difficulties that younger musicians are facing in trying to make a living these days have not gone unnoticed by the generations that came before them. In a new interview, Roger Waters lashed out at the people who have created the technology that has resulted in putting less money in the hands of artists, as reported by ultimateclassicrock.com.

Speaking to the Times, the former Pink Floyd bassist calls himself “enormously privileged to have been born in 1943 and not 1983, to have been around when there was a music business and the takeover of Silicon Valley hadn’t happened and, in consequence, you could still make a living writing and recording songs and playing them to people.”

And while Waters admits that the diminishing sales of records “doesn’t change my life in any way,” he is still “angry” at “this gallery of rogues and thieves [who interject] themselves between the people who aspire to be creative and their potential audience and steal every f—ing cent anybody ever made and put it in their pockets to buy f—ing huge mega-yachts and Gulfstream Fives with. These…thieves! It’s just stealing! And that they’re allowed to get away with it is just incredible.”

However, Waters also does save some of his ire for the audience, who have taken full advantage of the technology. “I blame the punters as well to some extent,” he continues, “a whole generation that’s grown up who believe that music should be free. I mean why not make everything free? Then you could walk into a shop and say ‘I like that television’ and you walk out with it. No! Somebody made that and you have to buy it! ‘Oh, I’ll just pick up few apples.’ No! Some farmer grew those and brought them here to be sold!”

Waters’ words echo those spoken by Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons of KISS to Billboard last week. “I think we’re very fortunate to have come out when we did, and to not be relying upon an industry that has basically committed suicide,” Stanley said.

“It’s really sad for the new artists. Where’s the next Elvis [Presley], where’s the next Beatles, where’s the [Led] Zeppelin? They’re out there but they don’t have a chance […] What are they gonna do? Give away their music for free? They’re gonna be living in their mom’s basement, unfortunately, and they’re never gonna get the chance that we did which is the saddest part of all for the new bands because there should always be a new generation of bands.”

U.K. Thrashers ACID REIGN Are Back!

U.K. Thrashers ACID REIGN Are Back!

Twenty four years is a long time in anyone's book, but that is how long it's been since the "Kings Of Apple Core," ACID REIGN, have been missing from the U.K. thrash scene.

Calling ACID REIGN's return more of a reboot than a reformation, sole original member Howard "H" Smith comments: "I tried to put the old lineup back together, [but] the guys were unable to do it for differing reasons. Then, in the summer of 2014, I started toying with the idea of a new lineup and it came together quite quickly."

He continued: "We're taking it slowly, learning the old stuff and playing with new ideas too.

"It's not a reformation it's a reboot. Even if it was the old lineup, it would be different; it's been 24 years!

"The main thing is that the goodwill toward ACID REIGN has never been stronger. Everywhere I go, people are saying we should come back, and eventually I actually fucking listened!"

A band considered ahead of its time by many, ACID REIGN was one of the leading lights of the U.K. trash attack and spent time on the road with the likes of EXODUS, NUCLEAR ASSAULT, DARK ANGEL, SUICIDAL TENDENCIES, DEATH ANGEL, FLOTSAM AND JETSAM and CANDLEMASS. Signed to Music For Nations subsidiary Under One Flag, the band would release two albums (including the seminal "The Fear"), two EPs and "The Worst Of" compilation before calling time on the band in 1991, their final appearance being at the world-famous Marquee club in London.

ACID REIGN first started to show signs of life once again in 2011, when Lost & Found Records released remastered versions of their albums and EPs. The reaction to the reissues — which were remastered by legendary producer Bill Metoyer (SLAYER, D.R.I., FLOTSAM AND JETSAM) — was so good that the band started to receive a stream of requests about when ACID REIGN might take the stage again.

Despite the interest, though, all remained quiet on the ACID REIGN front until the Candlelight release of the extensive box set "The Apple Core Archives". The set was a three-CD-only collection of every song ACID REIGN had ever put out, with new sleeve notes, unseen pics, demos and housed in an Apple Core-themed box.

Since this release, Smith has been actively working on the all-new ACID REIGN reboot and looking forward to bringing the band back where they belong — on stage!

Says Smith: "Finally, the rebooted lineup is complete. It's taken nearly two years, but I can honestly say it's been worth the wait.

"Typically, we're doing things differently to everyone else, as where they reformed (and believe me, we tried), we are now rebooting.

"Everyone in the band has ACID REIGN in their DNA. Some of the guys knew the band back in the day and some didn't, but everyone is on the same page and we can't wait to get out there and show the world how much it has been missing us."

ACID REIGN 2015 is:

* Howard "H" Smith (vocals):

Since ACID REIGN called it a day in 1991, "H" hasn't let the grass grow under his feet. He's been based in London and performing as a standup comedian since 1994 as himself and also as his alter ego "Keith Platt Professional Yorkshireman." Musically, he has recorded a song, "A Mother's Love", with Italian thrash band SATANIKA, based on ACID REIGN original "Motherly Love", featured on SATANIKA's "The Plague Of Thrash" album in 2010. In 2014 he also recorded a guest spot on two songs on SUICIDE WATCH's new mini album, "Alienation Zone". There has also been many guest live appearances with RE-ANIMATOR and old mates LAWNMOWER DETH. In August 2014, Howard oversaw the release of "The Apple Core Archives" on Candlelight Records, a triple-CD box set of the band's entire career. Howard also hosts the world's only comedy metal podcast for web site All About The Rock, "Talking Bollocks".

* Cooky (guitar):

Came highly recommended to the band by ex-ACID REIGN guitarist Kevin "Kev" Papworth, who told "H", "He's a great guy, a good laugh and daft as a brush."

* Marc Jackson (drums):

Influenced by musicians such as Bill Ward, John Bonham and Cozy Powell, Marc has been a drummer since the age of thirteen, playing across the world with a host of bands, including M:PIRE OF EVIL, BEYOND THE GRAVE, SABBATICA (BLACK SABBATH tribute), METALIZER and MINNIKIN.

* Pete Dee (bass):

Pete has worked on both sides of the glass as both a producer and a musician. He's a member of the highly rated KREMATED as well as hardcore outfit BUN DEM OUT and has enjoyed stints in ROGUE MALE, REACTOR and VIRAL TECHNOLOGY. A chance phone call in early 2015 led to him joining ACID REIGN. He recalls: "Some bloke calling himself 'H' phoned me up in February 2015 and asked me to audition for ACID REIGN, which was very cool, as KREMATED were planning on doing a cover of 'Goddess'. Now I get to play it in the real thing!"

* Paul Chanter (guitar):

Paul did actually play with ACID REIGN in 1990 on "The Joke's On Us" tour when he was dragged onstage by H from the audience at the Marquee to rip through "Motherly Love". Paul was the band's first choice to replace Adam when he quit in 1990, although it's taken until 2015 for Paul to actually get offered the role! As a member of acclaimed metal act DIED SMILING, Paul toured with STUCK MOJO and appeared at the U.K.'s best metal festival, Bloodstock Open Air.

JOHN CORABI Understands Why MÖTLEY CRÜE Wants To Retire From Touring

JOHN CORABI Understands Why MÖTLEY CRÜE Wants To Retire From Touring

During a brand new interview with 100PercentRock.com, John Corabi, former lead singer of MÖTLEY CRÜE, THE SCREAM and UNION, was asked for his thoughts on MÖTLEY CRÜE committing to a "Final Tour".

"Well, that's… Look, I'm happy for the guys. I get their thinking. They don't want to be a band that overstays their welcome and they don't want to fade off; they want to go out with a bang and they want to go out on a high note. So I'm all for it. You know what I mean? But the cool thing is they're not saying that they're not going to do anything in the future; they're just not going to tour again. So I imagine there will still be MÖTLEY music coming in the future but they're just not going to go out and do these big, huge, extravagant tours and things like that. They'll probably do a few songs a year or an album every couple of years and whatever."

He continued: "Look, we're all getting older. We all know — it's common knowledge — Mick [Mars, MÖTLEY CRÜE guitarist] hasn't been in the best of health. I think it would cheapen their value if they were to go get another guitar player. Obviously, I know about the whole 'replacing a member' [deal] of that band. I think it would cheapen their value so I get the fans, I get why they were upset when I was in the band. I understand it. I don't disagree with them. So it's probably best to go, 'Look. Let's knock it on the head now. We'll still write, we'll still record, and still the same musically in the future, but let's not tour anymore.'"

Corabi added: "Touring is very tough. Like I said, especially in Mick's condition, it's got to be very difficult for him.”

Corabi originally joined CRÜE in 1992 as the replacement for the group's original singer, Vince Neil, who was fired due to personal differences. With Corabi on vocals, MÖTLEY CRÜE released one critically acclaimed full-length CD, which ended up being a commercial failure in the wake of grunge despite a Top-Ten placing on the album chart. When Neil returned to the fold in 1997, Corabi was left on his own and formed the band UNION with ex-KISS guitarist Bruce Kulick.

Asked if he still harbors any bitterness toward the members of MÖTLEY CRÜE over how their split was handled, Corabi told 100PercentRock.com: "Look, you know, at the end of the day — and I just want to clear this up. Probably about 90 percent of the things that you read that supposedly came out of my mouth in regards to the MÖTLEY guys, usually most of it is incorrect. At the end of the day, I have no ill will. Honestly, not just the MÖTLEY guys, anybody I've ever played with. I had a great run with those guys. I was in the band for five years. My only regret about that is that I'm not still better friends with them. When I say 'better friends,' it's not that we hate each other or anything like that, it's just the fact that because of our schedules and the fact that I'm not involved with them anymore, I just see never see the guys. It's very rare. Mick, on the other hand, I live in Nashville, Tennessee. Mick lives there too, so I do get to see Mick probably more and talk to him more than the rest of the guys. But I've always been cool and Vince has always been cool with me. Tommy [Lee, drums] and I every now and then will have, like, a little texting session. Nikki [Sixx, bass] on occasion will write to me via e-mail and vice versa. But that's the most unfortunate part of it is not being able to see them and hang with them like we used to."

He continued: "But I don't really have any ill will about anything, man. I think that everything you do, everything that you start and everything that you end, it does that for a reason and it's to move forward on to the next thing or the next road or the next path or whatever. So I don't look back. It's all good. Everything is groovy. Everybody that I've ever played with is awesome and I've learned from all of them, so it's all good."

DEE SNIDER

DEE SNIDER's 'Strangeland' Horror Film Gets A Reboot

Emaji, Inc. has announced that its entertainment division, Emaji Entertainment, has acquired the rights to reboot Dee Snider's "Strangeland", the 1998 horror film written by and starring Snider, the frontman of heavy metal giant TWISTED SISTER.

Dee Snider's portrayal of Carlton Hendricks (a.k.a. Captain Howdy) in the original film created a character that has become a cult horror legend. Emaji Entertainment will accompany the singer-songwriter, screenwriter, radio personality and actor back into the dark underground world of ritualistic body modification where victims are lured via an ever pervasive world of social media.

The 1998 soundtrack included an incredible array of bands — SYSTEM OF A DOWN, SEVENDUST, SOULFLY, SLIPKNOT, KID ROCK, COAL CHAMBER, TWISTED SISTER, MEGADETH, MARILYN MANSON and PANTERA — handpicked by Snider.

"Music was intrinsic to me in the first one," said Snider. "We really tried to create the ultimate heavy soundtrack. Music will be important to me again for this film."

The project has the working title "Strangeland: Disciple" and is the second film production announced by the company based on a well established horror property.

Emaji Entertainment recently announced a reboot of "The Howling" and plans two further projects as part of its initial branded horror slate.

In a February 2009 interview with FlickDirect, Snider stated about "Strangeland: Disciple", the proposed follow-up to "Strangeland", "'Hostel' and 'Saw' are children of 'Strangeland'. Before that, there was no torture genre; everyone was still beating the dead horse being chased and dying of 'Halloween'. The idea of being torn into had not been developed yet.

"I did a Fangoria radio show, dedicated to the world of horror; and the makers of 'Hostel' and 'Saw' would talk about how they loved 'Strangeland'. With 'Strangeland: Disciple', I'm going to take my crown back. That calls for a really intense effort on the part of the script.

"It is the graphic nature of 'Strangeland: Disciple'. It will be NC-17. We can allow ourselves to focus more on things happening to the subjects. We don't have to cut away so rapidly — so rabidly. 'R' leaves a lot to the imagination. I tend to leave a lot less to the imagination."

Regarding his decision to shoot for an NC-17 rating NC-17 from the MPAA's ratings board for "Strangeland: Disciple", Snider said, "I wanted to make the first one NC-17, but the company making the picture said, 'No, you can't. You won't get any screens. When did you last see an NC-17 movie at the multiplex?'

"There is a conservative undercurrent in this country that won't allow [this type of movie] to be seen. Their view is that the rating is to protect the public, not educate them.

"I know, from experience, that kids are buying tickets to 'Snow White' or whatever and sneaking in to see R-rated films. So we toned down 'Strangeland'. With 'Strangeland: Disciple', we are doing the reverse of what is going on today — which is to release the R-rated movie in the theaters and then do the unrated director's cut on DVD.

"When 'The Exorcist' came out, it only showed in New York and L.A. The word spread about this insane movie. The first cut was a lot more intense, with more subliminal cuts and things like the spider-walk that got taken out of the release version. People were passing out in the theater.

"We're going to do the initial screenings with NC-17, and then a wider release at 'R.' People will be going, 'You have to see the original.'

"I'm not making an intense picture for the purpose of making an intense picture. It's reality-based. The first one was also; when I wrote it, Internet crime didn't exist. In the last movie, Captain Howdy appears to burn to death — he is on fire. When you see how he survives, people will go, 'Oh crap, I get that!' It is reality-based."

ART OF ANARCHY Featuring SCOTT WEILAND, BUMBLEFOOT: Lyric Video For

ART OF ANARCHY Featuring SCOTT WEILAND, BUMBLEFOOT: Lyric Video For 'Small Batch Whiskey' Song

ART OF ANARCHY, the new band featuring Scott Weiland (STONE TEMPLE PILOTS, VELVET REVOLVER) on vocals, John Moyer (DISTURBED) on bass, Jon and Vince Votta on guitar and drums, and Ron "Bumblefoot" Thal (GUNS N' ROSES) as co-guitarist and producer — will release its self-titled debut album on June 2 via Century Media imprint Another Century.

The official lyric video for the song "Small Batch Whiskey" can be seen below.

"Art Of Anarchy" track listing:

01. Black Rain02. Small Batch Whiskey03. Time Everytime04. Get On Down05. Grand Applause06. 'Til The Dust Is Gone07. Death Of It08. Superstar09. Aqualung10. Long Ago11. The Drift Weiland recently denied that he was ever a member of ART OF ANARCHY, explaining that he was paid to contribute to the group's CD as a session musician and a songwriter.

"It was a project I did where I was just supposed to have written the lyrics and melodies for this band that I'd never heard of, and I was paid to do it," Weiland told The Daily Beast. "And so I did it, and did some production work on it, and the next thing I knew there were press releases that I was in the band. I mean, I did one photo shoot with them, 'cause it was part of the deal, but I'm not in the band."

He added: "I wish them all the best once they find a singer, I hope they do well, but [SCOTT WEILAND AND THE WILDABOUTS] is my band."

In addition to Weiland, the recording lineup for ART OF ANARCHY's first album included GUNS N' ROSES guitarist Ron "Bumblefoot" Thal and DISTURBED bassist John Moyer. The rest of the lineup is filled out by Jon Votta on guitar and Vince Votta on drums.

In a statement to Rolling Stone, Thal wrote that "ART OF ANARCHY is not competition or a threat or interference to what any of us are doing — it's a complement, an addition, one I'm proud of creatively."

He continued: "[There is] no need to minimize or undermine or devalue a project we all worked on together over the course of two years.

"I enjoyed working with Scott. And I'm looking forward to [the SCOTT WEILAND AND] THE WILDABOUTS album release, the Bumblefoot album release, and the ART OF ANARCHY album release. The more music the better, it's what we do, right? :) Artists do collaborations and a month later, their own album comes out. This is normal stuff. All good. :)"

Thal added: "The five of us made an album together. Scott is currently the singer of the band. It's in writing; no confusion. But yes, Scott's solo album and tour are his priority and we're all on the same page about getting another vocalist if ART OF ANARCHY hits the road. But we don't need to cross that bridge just yet. Taking everything as it comes, one step at a time, letting it evolve organically. Where it goes from here (and with who!) is yet to be seen."

ART OF ANARCHY is the brainchild of Thal and the Votta brothers, who have been friends for 18 years dating back to their days on the New York music scene.

Thal also serves as producer and engineer on the album.

Weiland is no stranger to supergroups, having formed VELVET REVOLVER with several former members of GUNS N' ROSES more than a decade ago.

He was dismissed from that band in 2008, rejoining STP until they also fired him in early 2013. He and THE WILDABOUTS will put out a new album in March.

Thal has been with GUNS N' ROSES since 2006, playing on the 2008 album "Chinese Democracy". He has also released a number of solo CDs.

Moyer has been DISTURBED's bassist since 2004. The band has been on an extended hiatus since late 2011.

THE WHO – PETE TOWNSHEND Recreates Classic Quadrophenia With Royal Philharmonic Orchestra; Release Coming In June

THE WHO – PETE TOWNSHEND Recreates Classic Quadrophenia With Royal Philharmonic Orchestra; Release Coming In June

As a leading icon of the British music revolution of the 1960s, Pete Townshend made his name by creating the power chord, smashing guitars onstage, and penning anthems of teenage rebellion like “My Generation” .Now, at almost 70 years old and half a century after he penned the archetypal rock lyric “Hope I die before I get old”, Townshend has created a “classical” version of one of The Who’s landmark albums – Quadrophenia – for a symphony orchestra, opera singer and choir.

The new “symphonized” version of Quadrophenia, an album originally released by The Who in 1973, was orchestrated by Rachel Fuller, a professional composer, orchestrator and singer-songwriter in her own right – and also the partner of Pete Townshend.

In July will be the world premiere concert at the Royal Albert Hall, performed by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and London Oriana Choir

Conceived and written by Townshend in 1973, Quadrophenia went on to become a feature film and a theatre production, and was performed in its entirety on The Who’s most recent live tour.

Classic Quadrophenia was recorded with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in October 2014 at London’s legendary Air Studios, conducted by Robert Ziegler and features popular British tenor Alfie Boe on vocals, with Townshend himself on electric guitar and performing cameo vocal roles.

Townshend will reprise his roles at the live world premiere at the Royal Albert Hall in London on July 5, alongside the RPO, Ziegler, Boe and other star guests.

The rock superstar began work on the project as part of his plan to leave a legacy of all his work arranged for orchestra as sheet music, for future generations to enjoy. Townshend hopes the new work will go on to become a regular part of the orchestral repertoire and boost attendance at classical concerts.

GLENN HUGHES Featured On New VOODOO HILL Album

GLENN HUGHES Featured On New VOODOO HILL Album 'Waterfall'

Italian guitarist Dario Mollo (pictured) is putting the finishing touches on the long-awaited third VOODOO HILL album, titled "Waterfall". VOODOO HILL is a collaborative effort between Mollo and legendary singer/bassist Glenn Hughes (DEEP PURPLE, BLACK SABBATH). The project's new CD marks the first rock release from Glenn since the demise of the short-lived power trio CALIFORNIA BREED.

The musical direction of "Waterfall" has a solid foundation in hard rock with some very melodic moments and diverse influences, ranging from classic DEEP PURPLE and RAINBOW to LED ZEPPELIN and VAN HALEN. Mollo says: "I put a huge amount of work on this record, even though Glenn also helped a lot, giving me a lot of suggestions for improvement.

"Glenn did an amazing job in songwriting/performing and I've never heard him so pleased about the results!

"I think this is the album we did together that suits his singing and style the most, and in the end, this truly became a team effort.

"Maestro Dario Patti did also a fantastic job arranging the orchestral parts in two songs.

"Every time I listen to the album, a stupid smile appears in my face, so I just can't wait to see people's reactions!" The recording lineup for "Waterfall" is completed by Andrea Maiellano on bass, Riccardo Vruna and Vladimir Ruzicic Kebac on drums and Dario Patti on keyboards and bass. Frontiers Music Srl plans to release "Waterfall" in September.

SCHAMMASCH - Remastered “The Venom Of Gods” Track Streaming

SCHAMMASCH - Remastered “The Venom Of Gods” Track Streaming

Following the release of their 2014 double album Contradiction, modern black metallists Schammasch will release a remastered version of their debut opus, Sic Lvceat Lvx, in North America on May 19th (May 18th in UK/Europe, May 22nd in Germany). The track “The Venom Of Gods” is now streaming below:

The album - which will be available on vinyl for the first time ever - will feature glorious new artwork by Metastazis (Behemoth, Watain, Alcest) as seen below.

Tracklisting:

“Lvx Aeterna”
“He Whose Face Is Made Of Entrails”
“Chaos Reigns”
“No Light From The Fires”
“Black But Shining”
“INRI”
“The Venom Of Gods”

Originally released as a limited-edition CD in 2010, the album - the title of which is Latin for "let the light shine" - consists of seven hypnotic and cinematic blackened offerings. You can listen to a stream of the remastered "Black But Shining" below:

Pre-order packages featuring an exclusive t-shirt design can be found at this location.

Vocalist C.S.R. commented, "Six years have passed since me and B.A. (drums) met in our old rehearsal room to discuss a new project. After the first few rehearsals in summer 2009, Schammasch was born. Yet without any kind of clear vision or line, but a strong will, we started to work on two songs which would later bear the titles 'Chaos Reigns' and the metaphoric 'He Whose Face Is Made of Entrails’. Later that year, M.A. (guitars) joined us as a session member. It took us one year of chaotic, fevered work to finish the seven tracks for Sic Lvceat Lvx, which were first released in October 2010.

"Now, five years later, many things have changed and I somehow didn't ever expect to talk about a reissue someday. So what else can I say, than just that it's making me proud to announce the reissue of Sic Lvceat Lvx, in a brand new outfit and finally available on vinyl, through a label that actually does stuff on a professional level. Hopefully this album gets its deserved attention at last in 2015. No high-polished production and no technical perfectionism can be found here, but rather simple-hearted rawness, experimental songwriting and charming honesty."

Based in Basel, Switzerland, Schammasch - whose own name references Šamaš, the sun god from Akkadian / Babylonian mythology - combines black metal roots with a razor-sharp hybrid of dark atmospherics, doom and Hermetic mysticism. Their Prosthetic debut Contradiction, an ambitious, genre-defying double album recorded and produced by Tripkyton guitarist V. Santura, proved to be a truly commanding work of significant importance, both to modern extreme music and to the rich heritage of forward-thinking Swiss metal in general. The group recently toured Europe alongside Dark Fortress and Secrets Of The Moon and recently started working on a new album; more details will be unveiled in the coming months.

SIX FEET UNDER:

SIX FEET UNDER: 'Open Coffin Orgy' Video Released

"Open Coffin Orgy", the new video from death metal veterans SIX FEET UNDER, can be seen below. The clip was filmed with director Mitch Massie, who has previously worked with WHITECHAPEL and CATTLE DECAPITATION. The track is taken from the band's eleventh studio recording, which was released on May 5 via Metal Blade Records. Titled "Crypt Of The Devil", the ten-track slab of audio violence was composed by vocalist Chris Barnes and CANNABIS CORPSE bassist/vocalist Phil "Landphil" Hall. While on tour with CANNABIS CORPSE in 2013, Barnes and Hall met and kept in touch. Barnes would later lend his vocals to a track on CANNABIS CORPSE's "From Wisdom To Baked". That same year, Hall and Barnes joined forces to pen brand new SIX FEET UNDER tracks. Barnes lauds Hall's take on the SIX FEET UNDER style of death metal and stated that this material was, "where my wheelhouse is — it's where I thrive vocally and lyrically."

With "Crypt Of The Devil", Barnes has worked to continue the overall story from the previous works, wherein he is penning lyrics from the perspective of a serial killer. Or as Barnes describes, it's a "winding journey through his mind. The songs paint a picture that's not necessarily linear, rather a meandering back and forth through a dark soul." Soon-to-be-classic cuts such as "Open Coffin Orgy" serve as exemplary examples of the fruits of Barnes' macabre muse.

Recording for the album took place at Hall's studio in Virginia. Hall tracked rhythm and bass guitar, while his brother, Josh Hall, tracked drums, and guitarist Brandon Ellis tracked the majority of the album's leads. Barnes took to London Bridge Studio (PEARL JAM, ALICE IN CHAINS) in his new base of operations in Seattle, Washington to record vocals and in fact holed himself up in the very same booth where Layne Staley tracked his words. The mix was completed by Rob Caldwell (CANNABIS CORPSE, IRON REAGAN) in Sarasota, Florida and mastering was done by Alan Douches (CANNIBAL CORPSE, REVOCATION, TORCHE, SKELETONWITCH) at West West Side in New Windsor, New York.

"Crypt Of The Devil" track listing:

01. Gruesome02. Open Coffin Orgy03. Broken Bottle Rape04. Break The Cross In Half05. Lost Remains06. Slit Wrists07. Stab08. The Night Bleeds09. Compulsion To Brutalize10. Eternal in Darkness

SIX FEET UNDER's current live lineup will include longtime guitarist Steve Swanson, flanked by Jeff Hughell on bass, and Marco Pitruzella on drums.

Asked if there are any plans for TEENAGE TIME KILLER to go on the road in support of the upcoming CD, Mullin told INDY Week: "Touring, I don't know. Dave Grohl's folks — his management and marketing people — are going to help us do all that with the thing. We recorded about 98 percent of it at his studio. They were talking about — since there's so many people from so many different bands — maybe do something like '[Jimmy] Kimmel [Live!]' and have three or four different singers come out at one time, like Jello and Lee Ving, maybe Randy from LAMB OF GOD, something like that. All the songs are real short, so we could do, easily, four songs and not go over. But you know, we'd have Brian Baker come out and play guitar, Pat Smear play bass or guitar or whatever. It's pretty star-studded."

He added: "It sounds really organic. It sounds like we — the people that we associated with for the different songs — wrote the songs together."

Back in May 2013, Blythe posted an Instagram photo of him with Dean and Mullin in the studio and described his contribution to TEENAGE TIME KILLER, a track called "Hung Out To Dry", as "old-school C.O.C.-style thrash punk."

CUT UP – Featuring Former VOMITORY Members Announce Debut Album Forensic Nightmares; Single “Burial Time” Streaming

CUT UP – Featuring Former VOMITORY Members Announce Debut Album Forensic Nightmares; Single “Burial Time” Streaming

Swedish death metallers Cut Up have finished recording their debut album for Metal Blade and will release Forensic Nightmares on June 26 on CD as well as on vinyl and digital.

Comments Cut Up vocalist/guitarist Andreas Björnson: "After more than a year of hard work, patience and determination we can finally present to you all our debut album, Forensic Nightmares. As the title proudly states, we are giving you nothing but a violent dose of death metal with an excellent production. I am ridiculously proud of what we've created together and can't wait to hit stages around the world in support of the record. As a first taste of what we're all about, we're releasing the video to our song ‘Burial Time’. This song makes for a fitting representation of the album, seeing as it incorporates all the elements which makes Forensic Nightmares such a brutal force to be reckoned with. Stay tuned and we'll see you all in the front row within the near future!"

Forensic Nightmares tracklisting:

“Enter Hell”
“Burial Time”
“Remember The Flesh”
“A Butchery Improved”
“Brain Cell Holocaust”
“Forensic Nightmare”
“Camouflesh”
“Order Of The Chainsaw”
“Stab And Stab Again”
“Bunker Z 16”
“Dead And Impaled”

“Burial Time”:

Cut Up was founded by drummer Tobias Gustafsson and vocalist/bassist Erik Rundqvist in early 2014. After disbanding Vomitory by the end of 2013 after 24 years of death metal duty, the two felt it obvious to continue creating death metal together. Very soon, guitarist Anders Bertilsson and guitarist/vocalist Andreas Björnson were recruited and Cut Up was complete. Both Bertilsson - who was previously and most notably in Coldworker (2006-2013) - and Björnson - also known from Fetus Stench - share the same musical ideals as Gustafsson and Rundqvist as well as the passion to play live.

The next months followed with hard work, writing and rehearsing, and in November 2014 they entered the studio and recorded 11 songs for the debut album Forensic Nightmares.

Preorders are up at MetalBlade.com.

Video: CAVALERA CONSPIRACY Joined By THE DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN, STRIFE Members For BAD BRAINS Classic

Video: CAVALERA CONSPIRACY Joined By THE DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN, STRIFE Members For BAD BRAINS Classic

THE DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN's Greg Puciato and STRIFE's Andrew Kline joined CAVALERA CONSPIRACY on stage on May 4 at the House Of Blues in West Hollywood, California to perform a cover version of the BAD BRAINS song "Pay To Cum". Fan-filmed video footage of their appearance can be seen below.

CAVALERA CONSPIRACY kicked off a U.S. headlining tour in April. Support on the trek is coming from DEATH ANGEL, CORROSION OF CONFORMITY - BLIND (featuring Karl Agell, who sang on the classic CORROSION OF CONFORMITY [C.O.C.] album "Blind" [1991], and founding C.O.C. drummer Reed Mullin) and LODY KONG.

CAVALERA CONSPIRACY's third album, "Pandemonium", which sold around 2,600 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 177 on The Billboard 200 chart.

CAVALERA CONSPIRACY's previous CD, 2011's "Blunt Force Trauma" opened with around 5,000 units to land at No. 122.

The band's first CD, 2008's "Inflikted", registered a first-week tally of 9,000 copies to enter the chart at No. 72.

"Pandemonium" was produced by John Gray, who has previously worked with SOULFLY.

During an appearance on the "Metal Hammer" magazine show on TeamRock Radio, CAVALERA CONSPIRACY frontman Max Cavalera stated about "Pandemonium": "It's very, very heavy — the heaviest of all the three [CAVALERA CONSPIRACY albums]. I was really possessed to get Igor back to his 'Arise' [SEPULTURA] era of drumming, everything fast."

He added in a separate interview with HardRockHaven.net: "The CAVALERA album is really more about me and Igor, the brothers, thrashing. This one is almost grindcore. I was really a dictator in the studio with Igor to try to keep him from going into the groove and tried to keep him playing fast; I wanted him play fast for most of the record. So every time he'd go into the groove, I would be, like, 'Fuck the groove! Get out of the groove! Go back to the fast shit.' And I succeeded, man. It's a really brutal album. I think it's definitely the most brutal of all the CAVALERA albums and it's definitely gonna turn some heads."

SOILWORK Plan Fall Release For Next Album, Tour; New Dirk Verbueren Audio Interview Streaming

Metal Wani Editor In Chief, Owais 'Vitek' Nabi, recently had a chat with drummer Dirk Verbueren. He discusses his DRUMatic journey, session work, Soilwork’s new album, and much more.

During the interview he reveals that Soilwork’s new album will be released, “definitely this fall… we want to hit the road in the fall, so we’re definitely planning on bringing it out right after the summer.”

On the current status of the album, Dirk states: “It’s still underway. I know that Björn (“Speed" Strid - vocals) has been in doing his vocals for a little while, so I think we’re nearing those being done. I haven’t heard any of the keyboards yet, Sven (Karlsson - keyboards/samples) has been working on them.”

Soilwork recently released a video for “Bastard Chain” from their first-ever live DVD/Blu-Ray, Live In The Heart Of Helsinki, out now. The DVD was recorded during the band's special Helsinki show on March 21st, 2014 at Circus Club in the Finnish capital and features guest appearances by Floor Jansen (Nightwish, Revamp) and Nathan J. Biggs (Sonic Syndicate).

Commented Björn "Speed" Strid: "There could've not been a better time than now, with 10 albums out and a very varied back catalogue to choose from. Our line up now is 50 % original members and 50 % fresh blood, which makes it all more interesting. Especially since the newest members have brought so much to our sound and have continued to inspire us to write new and exciting music and also brought a new found energy on stage. Now is definitely the time to see us. Trust me."

The DVD was produced by Jouni Markkanen and directed by Ville Lipiäinen who also worked on the most recent Nightwish DVD Showtime, Storytime.

Live In The Heart Of Helsinki is available as DVD/2CD and BluRay/2CD. The Nuclear Blast Mailorder Edition contains an exclusive lanyard. Order your copy at this location.
