RECKLESS LOVE are the flamboyant Finnish rockers who burst spectacularly onto the U.K. scene in 2010.

The band's third album, "Spirit", was released on September 2 via Spinefarm Records (August 30 in Finland through Universal Music). Produced by Ilkka Wirtanen, and with mixing duties divided between Ilkka Wirtanen, Juha Heininen and Petri Majuri, the follow-up to 2011's "Animal Attraction" represents a bold step forward for RECKLESS LOVE, with the commercial aspects of the music pushed to new and heady heights, plus the heavier side showing some serious bite, with the wonderfully titled "Metal Ass" hugging the fast lane from first note to last.

Finnish/Swedish power metallers THAUROROD will release their sophomore album, "Anteinferno", in Europe on December 20 through NoiseArt Records. In Japan, the CD will be made available on December 11 via Spiritual Beast and will feature an exclusive bonus track called "Japskin Syylä".

The cover artwork for "Anteinferno" was created by Ken Kelly of MANOWAR fame.

"I found this masterpiece with all the strong colors of the flames and a warrior on a horse and thought it would fit perfectly, but also would reflect the battle themes and the theme of the last song which is about the world's biggest horse breed, the Shire horse, which was used in medieval battles ages ago," explains bassist Pasi Tanskanen. THAUROROD last year announced the addition of Swedish singer Andi Kravljaca (SILENT CALL, SEVENTH WONDER) to the group's ranks.

THAUROROD parted ways with Italian singer Michele Luppi in July 2012. They attributed the split to the fact that Luppi "[didn't] have enough time for THAUROROD" and the group's desire to find someone who was "more motivated [and] who share[d] the same passion and hunger to go on with THAUROROD as the rest of the band."

THAUROROD's debut album, "Upon Haunted Battlefields", came out in Europe on September 24, 2010 via NoiseArt Records and Rock The Nation.

California death grinders EMBRYONIC DEVOURMENT have finished recording their third full-length album, "Reptilian Agenda", for a late 2013 release via Deepsend Records. The CD was mixed and mastered by Colin Davis (VILE, Imperial Mastering) and is based around a concept that comes from the viewpoint and opinions of a 1000-year-old reptilian humanoid from the planet Nibiru. Deepsend says: "The band has taken on a whole new sound that encompasses technical groove, insanely fast paces , memorable song structures and surprises throughout."

Todd La Torre quit CRIMSON GLORY in February, explaining in a statement that "the main reason for my resignation from CRIMSON GLORY is primarily due to its inertia status."

La Torre, who joined QUEENSRŸCHE in June 2012 as the replacement for Geoff Tate, became an official member of CRIMSON GLORY in April 2010 and played a number of shows with the band during the past three years.

A "raw" version of a new CRIMSON GLORY demo track entitled "Garden Of Shadows" was released in September 2012 and was supposed to appear on the band's new concept record.

La Torre made his first public appearance with CRIMSON GLORY at ProgPower USA X as one of seventeen guest performers paying tribute to Midnight, the band's original singer.

Essentially unknown to the mainstream progressive metal scene, La Torre spent 22 years earning his stripes and solidifying himself as an unquestionable talent behind the drum kit of various hard rock and heavy metal projects in the Tampa Bay, Florida area. However, his vocal aspirations went largely unfulfilled until 2009 when Matt LaPorte (JON OLIVA'S PAIN), who had only heard La Torre sing on a few occasions, casually mentioned to CRIMSON GLORY guitarist Jon Drenning that he might make a nice addition to the already stellar lineup of performers the band had accumulated. It was only a short time later that La Torre found himself at the band's rehearsal studio, and the pieces began to fall into place.

Midnight passed away in 2009 due to long-term health complications.

Germany's CALIBAN has entered the studio to begin recording its new album, "Ghost Empire", for a January 27, 2014 release via Century Media Records. The CD is once again being produced by guitarist Marc Görtz in cooperation with Benny Richter.

Says Görtz: "We are almost done with the recordings and are doing the finetunings on all the songs. This week we finished tracking the vocals and are adding the final guitars now.

"We couldn't be happier with the result!

"The new material follows the same direction we took with 'I Am Nemesis', but in a more consequent and intense way, with some new influences added.

"The pressure was pretty high after the success of 'I Am Nemesis', but we are a band that actually works best under pressure. Hence we were and are working very hard to come up with an even better album."

CALIBAN's eighth studio album, "I Am Nemesis", entered the German Media Control chart at position No. 21.

"I Am Nemesis" was released in North America on February 28, 2012 via Century Media Records. The CD featured guest appearances by Marcus Bischoff (HEAVEN SHALL BURN) and Mitch Lucker (SUICIDE SILENCE).

Singer Simone Simons of Dutch symphonic metallers EPICA and her longtime boyfriend, KAMELOT keyboardist Oliver Palotai, welcomed their first child, Vincent G. Palotai, on Wednesday, October 2 at 11:26 p.m.

Said Simone in a posting on the EPICA Facebook page: "Both Vincent and me are doing great. He is a perfect little man.

"Thank you for all the love and well wishes you have sent us. It is absolutely heartwarming!"

In a May 2013 interview with Finland's RadioCity, Simone spoke about whether she had to be extra careful on stage because of her pregnancy. "Yeah, well, when the belly gets bigger, your gravity shifts forward, so I don't wear heels anymore in daily life, but during the show I do," she explained. "But it's weird, because the headbanging doesn't work so well anymore, and, of course, I try to not tense my belly so much, so there's enough room still to swim in my belly. I still do some headbanging, but not the really heavy stuff anymore; I don't jump or do crazy stuff. But I still wanna have a good time and don't stand there like a stiff board."

Asked if her unborn child had reacted to the music yet while she performed on stage, Simone said: "I talked to my friend [and former THE GATHERING singer] Anneke [Van Giersbergen] about that, because she was pregnant on stage as well. And she told me that her son was really quiet during the heavy songs, and when she did the ballads, he would then start kicking and getting active. But until now, I didn't feel the movement during the shows yet — outside I did."

California deathcore masters SUICIDE SILENCE have officially announced the addition of ALL SHALL PERISH singer Hernan "Eddie" Hermida to the group's ranks.

Lucker died November 1, 2012 after sustaining injuries in a motorcycle crash in Huntington Beach on Halloween night.

A funeral service for Mitch Lucker was held on November 8, 2012. The ceremony was attended by family and friends.

According to the Los Angeles Times, Lucker struck a light pole near the intersection of Main and 13th streets and was thrown from his 2013 Harley Davidson. The motorcycle continued sliding south on Main Street and struck a northbound 2007 Nissan Titan pickup.

Lucker, who was treated at the scene by paramedics, died shortly after 6 a.m. at UC Irvine Medical Center.

Randy Blythe (LAMB OF GOD), Robb Flynn (MACHINE HEAD) and Max Cavalera (SOULFLY, CAVALERA CONSPIRACY, SEPULTURA) were among the "surprise" guests who performed with with the surviving members of SUICIDE SILENCE at a special show on December 21, 2012 at the Fox theater in Pomona, California as a tribute Mitch Lucker. All proceeds from the event went towards the education of Mitch's six-year-old daughter, Kenadee Lucker.

The Pomona concert was professionally filmed for a DVD that is expected to surface before the end of the year.

APOCALYPTICA — the groundbreaking Finnish orchestral rock group — will release "Wagner Reloaded - Live In Leipzig", an epic live collaboration with the acclaimed MDR Leipzig Symphony Orchestra, November 19 on BMG. The album's release is perfectly timed since 2013 marks the 200th anniversary of the birth of iconic German composer Richard Wagner.

For "Wagner Reloaded - Live In Leipzig", APOCALYPTICA created new compositions based on Wagner's body of work and his life, teaming with award-winning choreographer and dancer Gregor Seyffert to stage a brilliant and magical, cross-genre event featuring a live concert and theatrical production.

"We've been asked many times to do this type of project, but this is the first one we got excited about," explains APOCALYPTICA's Eicca Toppinen. "The mission was to celebrate Wagner, [so] we took elements of his life and used his original music and rearranged it," Toppinen adds. "It was like writing a score for a movie, I had a list of themes and I had to think about the length of scenes and write the music while envisioning APOCALYPTICA performing on a massive stage with the symphony, choir and one-hundred dancers."

May 22, 2013 was the 200th anniversary of the birth of the composer Richard Wagner. The Berlin choreographer, award-winning dancer and artistic director of the Berlin State School of Ballet Gregor Seyffert (best dancer in the world, winner of the German dance award) staged an exceptional cross-genre spectacle with a combination of dance, artistry, object theatre, audiovisual media and a live concert that enabled audiences to experience the oeuvre of Richard Wagner. The focus was not on individual works or dramas but on visual presentation of the unique life and work of Richard Wagner, presented on stage in this form for the very first time.

To stage the theme and Wagner's biography in a contemporary way, Gregor Seyffert wanted to create new musical highlights by bringing today's popular rock music together with compositions by Richard Wagner. A contemporary equivalent was created by the compositions of the Finnish cello-rock band APOCALYPTICA, which, with its unmistakable sound, provides a bridge to modern popular music.

"The Epilogue", the new single from ††† (CROSSES) — DEFTONES frontman Chino Moreno's project with FAR guitarist Shaun Lopez — is available for streaming in the YouTube clip below. The track will appear on the band's new album, which will arrive on November 26 via Sumerian Records.

††† (CROSSES) released its second EP, "††", in January 2012.

In a 2011 interview with ChinaShop, Moreno stated about how ††† (CROSSES) came together, "I remember I mentioned to [Shaun] one day when we were hanging out, y'know, 'We should make a record together.' It just so happened that when I moved to L.A. I ended up living a few blocks away from him. I was down here working on recording some vocals with Shaun. We just clicked. We listened to a lot of the same music. We've always worked well together. With this project in particular, I met [guitarist] Chuck over at Shaun's house. Chuck was working on some of his solo stuff. I don't know when they started working together, but they said they were working on a project together and asked if I was interested in contributing vocals. Whenever they were working, I'd just ride my bike over there. A couple different times, I was just like, 'Let me try singing on this,' and they were like, 'OK, cool.' I'd just go in and throw in a bunch of ideas. Pretty soon they got rid of the idea of getting a bunch of different singers together. We just started working on the record together."

Legendary rock trio RUSH have unveiled details for their first new recording since being inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame earlier this year. "Rush: Clockwork Angels Tour" will be released via Anthem/Roadrunner Records on November 19. Anthem/Zoe Vision/Rounder will simultaneously release the companion DVD.

A new clip from METALLICA's new 3D IMAX movie, "Metallica Through The Never", can be seen below.

"Metallica Through The Never" officially opened on September 27 for an exclusive week-long run on IMAX screens before expanding to other theaters on October 4. The film's surreal narrative winds its way through the concert footage, in which a roadie played by Dane DeHaan finds himself in an increasingly hostile urban environment while on a mission for the band. Bassist Robert Trujillo told The Pulse Of Radio what he thinks it all means. "My take on it is there's two worlds," he said. "When you're in a concert venue with METALLICA, it could seem like the most perfect environment. But beyond those walls of the venue, you have mayhem and it could be anything. It could be anarchy. There are problems beyond those walls that exist with what's happening in that bubble of, you know, this perfect world of music and metal."

"[Director] Nimród [Antal] came up with the story line," METALLICA frontman James Hetfield said. "It really is two movies in one. We wanted to have the best concert footage ever filmed and also have a story line and give it some legs that will be open for interpretation. There are so many metaphors in there. And there's no good side or bad side. There's just turmoil. That's just a part of human nature — fight or flight at times. For me, when the rider shows up he's the embodiment of hate. And then there’s fire. Of course. You gotta have fire."

"Metallica Through The Never" sees the band performing on a massive stage, specially constructed for the film, that incorporates elements of METALLICA live shows from the past 30 years.

"The idea to bring back some of the gags from the '80s, when we were a little more theatrical, was that there are so many kids nowadays who have only heard about statues and crosses and so on," said METALLICA drummer Ulrich. "So it was sort of like METALLICA has generally shied away from being too retro. But five years ago, when we were with [producer] Rick Rubin working on [METALLICA's latest album] 'Death Magnetic', he started encouraging us to be inspired by our past and not run away from it. So that's why we decided to bring back some of those gags, 2012-style. It was time to maybe be okay with sharing that with younger kids without feeling like we were turning into a retro band."

Long-estranged FOREIGNER co-founders Mick Jones and Lou Gramm, were inducted into the Songwriters Hall Of Fame on June 13 at Manhattan's Marriott Marquis Hotel. Both Jones and Gramm, who parted ways in 2003 when Gramm quit the band, have suffered from health problems over recent years, with Gramm surviving a brain tumor and Jones recently undergoing open-heart surgery. Gramm, who still performs and is a born-again Christian, was replaced by current lead singer Kelly Hansen in 2005. FOREIGNER was inducted by Billy Joel, and Jones and Gramm reunited to perform "Juke Box Hero" and "I Want To Know What Love Is" to a massive standing ovation.

FOREIGNER's last studio album, "Can't Slow Down", came out in 2009.

Even though FOREIGNER has never fallen into the category of "critics' darlings," Jones told The Pulse Of Radio that the band's album sales and ticket receipts prove that FOREIGNER has always struck the right chord with fans. "How can you complain about people listening, and hearing, and your music reaching so many people?" he said. "I think it's wonderful. It's a great achievement to have these songs having stood the test of time like this, you know, and getting the amount of play they still do."

WINDS OF PLAGUE last year parted ways with drummer Art Cruz due to creative differences. Sitting behind the kit during the studio sessions for the new album was Brandon Gallindo (ex-DEAD IN EXISTENCE).

WINDS OF PLAGUE will embark on a tour with BLEEDING THROUGH in early November.

WINDS OF PLAGUE's third full-length CD, "Against The World", sold 8,700 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 60 on The Billboard 200 chart. France's ORUGA have inked a deal with Apathia Records. The deal consists of a reissue Oruga’s first self-titled EP, originally released in 2011, on November 4th, and their debut album expected to be released in the second quarter of 2014.

Norwegian metallers MINDTECH (formerly known as BEYOND FLAMES) will release their debut album, Elements Of Warfare, on October 11th via their own TriTech Music label, and with distribution from Indie Distribution. It will be available worldwide in a digital format, and on CD, at first, just in Norway. International customers can order the CD at the TriTech Music webshop.

The album features performances from Norwegian singer Linda Kvam, and bassist Linus Abrahamson from Swedish band ANDROMEDA. Mindtech will also do a release gig, on October 10th at John Dee in Oslo, with support band FATAL IMPACT.

Cult Swiss thrashers POLTERGEIST are officially back! V.O. Pulver (guitar), André Grieder (vocals) and Marek Felis (bass) reunited at V.O.'s rehersal room in August 2013 to jam a few songs from the past. Sitting behind the drum kit at the session was Sven Vormann, who is no stranger to the thrash communion, having previously played with DESTRUCTION.

POLTERGEIST is working on a live set which will be presented in early 2014. After that, the band plans to write material for a new album.

POLTERGEIST released three albums in the late '80s and early '90s: "Depression" (1989), "Behind My Mask" (1991) and "Nothing Lasts Forever" (1993)

Grieder is perhaps best known for contributing guest lead vocals to DESTRUCTION's 1990 album "Cracked Brain" following the departure of that band's Marcel "Schmier" Schirmer.

ANTHRAX's touring lineup at the Denver show included former TESTAMENT/SLAYER and current ANIMETAL USA drummer Jon Dette.

Dette previously filled in for ANTHRAX's regular drummer Charlie Benante on the band's European tour last fall as the support act for MOTÖRHEAD and Australia's Soundwave Festival in February/March.

ANTHRAX has officially commenced the songwriting process for the band's next studio album, tentatively due in 2014.

Benante recently spent time recovering from surgery for carpal tunnel syndrome. He rejoined his bandmates for their September 13 performance at "The Battle Of San Bernardino" festival in San Bernardino, California alongside IRON MAIDEN, MEGADETH, TESTAMENT, OVERKILL and SABATON.

ANTHRAX's latest addition, guitarist Jon Donais (SHADOWS FALL), has been touring with the band since Rob Caggiano's departure in January.

Speaking to Metal Hammer editor Alexander Milas for the "Metal Hammer" radio show on TeamRock Radio, ANTHRAX's Scott Ian stated about the band's current second-guitarist situation: "Jon's been with us since February, and I think I can safely say he's passed the audition… [laughs]. I know we haven't said anything official yet, but in my mind, he's the guy. I'm sure some type of official announcement… because in this world, people apparently need that kind of information so they can sleep well at night. But as far as I'm concerned, Jon is the guitar player in ANTHRAX."

ANTHRAX's latest studio album, "Worship Music", has sold around 110,000 copies in the United States since its September 2011 release.

After over a year of dialogues with various record labels, San Francisco Bay Area metallers MACHINE HEAD have decided on a new home with the newly launched arm of Nuclear Blast Records, Nuclear Blast Entertainment, headed by the band's longtime friend and former Roadrunner A&R guru Monte Conner. MACHINE HEAD's next album will be the band's first with new bassist Jared MacEachern, who replaced Adam Duce this past spring.

Greek prog rock/metal act NEED have revealed information on their upcoming third album, their follow-up to the 2009 release, Siamese God.
Orvam: A Song For Home was recorded at Devasound Studios in Athens, Greece, mixed in Chicago by Neil Kernon, who has produced albums for QUEENSRŸCHE, NEVERMORE, KANSAS and many more, and mastered in New York City by Alan Douches with whom the band had previously worked in 2009's Siamese God.

More than a year has passed from their latest official release, Eidolon, and almost six months from the release of the Misled-2013 free EP, Greece's ACID DEATH have started working on its new, yet untitled, full album, band’s sixth official release. More than six new songs are already under hard process.
According to band’s schedule the recordings will start in spring/2014 and the album will be ready till the end of the summer/2014. Production, mix and mastering will be integrated in Austria at Noisehead records’ studios, Noisehead studios, by Mario Jezik.

According to The Pulse Of Radio, SOUNDGARDEN's very first record releases are being reissued on CD, double vinyl and as a digital set on November 26 via Sub Pop Records, the legendary independent label that was the Seattle grunge act's first home. The set will include the band's entire debut EP, "Screaming Life", as well as bonus tracks from its "Fopp" EP and songs that appeared on the "Sub Pop 200" compilation, all initially issued in the late Eighties. All the tracks have been remastered by producer Jack Endino and the LP versions are the first time the songs have been pressed to vinyl since the original releases. Singer Chris Cornell told The Pulse Of Radio not long ago that SOUNDGARDEN would love to bring back some of its earliest material in its live show. "We have such a long history, and a lot of songs that we either haven't played in a long time and some we never really have played much live," he said. "So we have like a huge list of things. It'll be nice at some point to just be able to play kind of anything at any time."

Shortly after "Screaming Life" was released, A&M Records offered SOUNDGARDEN a major label deal. The band did the "Fopp" EP, contributed to "Sub Pop 200" and issued its first full album, "Ultramega OK", on SST Records before eventually signing with A&M.

Among the tracks on the reissue are "Hunted Down", "Tears To Forget", the band's famous cover of the OHIO PLAYERS' "Fopp" and the SOUNDGARDEN cult classic "Nothing To Say".

SOUNDGARDEN, which reunited in 2010 after a 13-year hiatus, is currently on a break after spending much of 2013 on tour in support of last year's reunion album, "King Animal", the group's first set of all-new music since 1996.

Chris Cornell will launch a solo tour on October 15 in San Diego, while drummer Matt Cameron will hit the road with PEARL JAM starting October 11 in Pittsburgh.

According to The Pulse Of Radio, Welsh act LOSTPROPHETS have announced that they are splitting up in the wake of singer Ian Watkins' arrest last December and subsequent indictment on sexual offense charges, including sexual assault of children and possession of child pornography. The band said in a statement, "After nearly a year of coming to terms with our heartache, we finally feel ready to announce publicly what we have thought privately for some time. We can no longer continue making or performing music as LOSTPROPHETS. Your love and support over the past 15 years has been tremendous, and we'll be forever grateful for all you've given us. As we look forward to the next phase of our lives, we can only hope to be surrounded by people as devoted and inspiring as you guys have been." Watkins is charged with at least 23 sex offenses, including allegations that he twice raped an infant less than a year old and aided in the assault of another baby. Two women in their 20s have been charged alongside Watkins.

The singer has denied all the allegations against him and is currently awaiting the November 25 start of his trial in jail, where he is said to be on suicide watch.

LOSTPROPHETS formed in 1997 and have sold 3.5 million albums in their 16-year career. They scored a No. 1 hit at Modern Rock radio in 2004 with the track "Last Train Home".
