It's with much sadness and heavy hearts that we have to announce that our bass player for the past decade Marko Paasikoski is no longer in the band.

States Marko:

"I have come to a situation in my life where being a part of a touring band is not an option for me anymore and it's time to explore other things. I wish to thank all the fans and my bandmates for all the good times, great shows and adventures that we have had over the last decade.
The memories from this time will stay with me forever but at the moment I don't have the motivation or the passion that is required to be in the band so it's better for all parties involved that we go our separate ways. I wish all the best for the guys ! -Marko"

We understand Marko's decision and this is of course a thing that we have talked about during the last tour. We appreciate Marko being a stand up guy and finishing up the Stones Grow Her Name- World Tour. Thank you Marko for all these years and best of luck and fortunes with your future endeaveurs, we'll miss you bro !!

Our new bass player is Pasi Kauppinen (Silent Voices, ex-Requiem, Winterborn). We've known him for many years and he has mixed both our DVDs as well as recorded parts of our last 3 studio albums. He will join the band starting with the upcoming album.

Sonata Arctica will start rehearsing in September and enter the studio in October. The new studio album will be out next spring with a world tour to follow.

Vocalist Randy Blythe of Richmond, Virginia metallers LAMB OF GOD has uploaded a short film called "Prague: The Devil Is The Details", which he shot earlier this year while he was on trial for manslaughter in the Czech Republic in connection with the death of a fan more than three years ago.

In a posting on his Randonesia blog, Blythe stated about the film: "This is a movie I made in Prague during my trial. I filmed the footage with a Canon EOS 60D, edited it with Final Cut Pro X, and wrote the music using Reason.

"I wanted to release a slightly different version of the film right before my judgement was rendered by the court (the very last shot in this version was not there until after I was pronounced innocent). My idea was to show my mind set through film and music during the process of my trial, and have a more ambiguous ending heading into my final day in court.

"I did not know what was going to happen to me, only that I felt I was doing the right thing by being there. Working in a creative capacity during the trial helped me to remain calm — it is what I know how to do, so I wanted to share it with people.

"I showed the clip to my lawyer and he advised against releasing it until after the trial was over, thinking the authorities might not understand what I was trying to say with the movie. It is all over now, so here is my poor attempt to try and create art in a time of great personal uncertainty.

"Note: the Devil plays an important part in Czech fairytales, and marionettes are a bit of Czech folk culture I came to love while I was there — the marionette hangs in my study now.

"The Devil is different in Czech fairy tales though, to my understanding — the puppet is representative of me, the way I viewed myself, the way I was viewed by society at different times — all sorts of things. It is not representative of evil — just wanted to clarify that."

Prague, Czech Republic's High Court upheld Blythe's "not guilty" verdict on June 5 in connection with the aforemention death. The court's decision is final.

Blythe was facing the possibility of conviction and a long-term jail sentence after a May 2010 incident in which Daniel Nosek, who attended a LAMB OF GOD performance in Prague, died almost a month later, allegedly from injuries sustained when he was thrown off the stage.

Though Blythe faced up to 10 years in prison, during the closing argument, prosecutors only asked the judge for the minimum sentence of five years.

New York death metal veterans SKINLESS have reformed after a two-year hiatus to headline the third day of Delaware Deathfest this October alongside DEICIDE, SUFFOCATION, BROKEN HOPE, BRUTALITY, DYING FETUS, EXHUMED and many more. The second annual Delaware Deathfest takes place October 4-6 in Wilmington at Mojo 13.

Commented vocalist Sherwood Webber: "We're back. The classic SKINLESS lineup has always had an undeniable live chemistry and it's time to unleash the beast again. We're all old buddies and if we have the opportunity to destroy some stages around the world again, it feels right…. who knows what's next?!? The 20th-anniversary edition of PANTERA's "Far Beyond Driven" album will be in made available sometime in 2014.

The seventh LP by PANTERA, "Far Beyond Driven" was released on March 22, 1994 through East West Records. Upon its release, it debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, making it the first extreme metal album to top the chart.

"Considering its contents, it is the heaviest record to come in at No. 1, and yes, there is a fucking goddamn re-release coming up," former PANTERA singer Philip Anselmo tells Artisan News (see video below). "I don't know anything, really, about it other than, yes, it's gonna re-released with live footage from said show, but I can't name the show yet, because I think it's a fight between two different shows. And you never know. I'm trying to think of specialties or whatnot [that will be included as well]."

Asked what he thinks made "Far Beyond Driven" so special, Anselmo said: "The chemistry within PANTERA… In the early days, they were very guarded about what I said here and there. And then, finally, by 'Vulgar Display Of Power', it was, like, 'Just let me handle the lyrics.' And then by 'Far Beyond Driven', I was saying anything I fucking wanted to fucking really fucking sing about, man."

PANTERA manager Kimberly Zide Davis, who joined Concrete Management in 1994, and served as vice president of artist management until the organization ceased operations in 2003, was interviewed for Guitar World's January 2010 issue, which paid tribute to late PANTERA/DAMAGEPLAN guitarist "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott. During the chat she stated, "I wish there was more [previously unreleased material], but that's one thing about PANTERA; they didn't do extra material. What they did is what everybody got. They didn't do throwaway songs."

Dimebag Darrell was co-founder and lead guitarist for PANTERA. When PANTERA broke up in 2003, Dimebag and his brother Vinnie Paul formed DAMAGEPLAN. On December 8, 2004, while performing with DAMAGEPLAN at the Alrosa Villa in Columbus, Ohio, Dimebag was shot and killed onstage by Nathan Gale. He was 38 years old.

Danish old-school death metallers INBREEDING REDNECKS — who consist of experienced metal musicians from bands like AUTUMN LEAVES, MEMORIAL, FRAMELESS SCAR and MERCENARY — will release their debut album, "Abnormal Life Portrayed", on October 14 via Mighty Music/Target. The CD was recorded at CB Studios by Christian Bonde (DAWN OF DEMISE) and was mixed by Sebastian Wolff from KELLERMENSCH.

INBREEDING REDNECKS has roots in the seaport Esbjerg and is inspired by "old-school" metal and therefore attaches great importance to those areas are the prominent elements of music. Bands like SUFFOCATION, MORBID ANGEL and HYPOCRISY are the source of inspiration as well as modern metallers like GOJIRA, among others.

INBREEDING REDNECKS writes about critical events in society, which are characterized by everyday frustrations and supports it with the brutality of death metal. This universe consists of an equally brutal instrumentation — '90s-inspired growl vocals are delivered in a convincing manner, a high technical level on the drums and lyrics with a clear-cut message. The riffs are written with consideration to the simple and harmonious.

The band pays homage to the old way of making albums, but has found its own way to make it work in today's metal world. With these elements in focus, the band knows that the messages will strike the listener as hard as the songs suggests.

HELLOWEEN/ex-PINK CREAM 69 frontman Andi Deris has lancuhed a brand new project called ANDI DERIS & BAD BANKERS.

Says Andi: "It's been years I was looking for a band (all over the planet) that I could actually ask to record an album with me, only to find it on the little island I live on just a few months ago. Even more thrilling is the fact that the guys are between 19 and 22 years old. You won't believe it when you listen to the songs!

"We all had and have a lot of fun with the image, even more during the photo session.

"Obviously, we despise everything around banks, managers and bankers who are clearly responsible for the shit that goes on nowadays (and most certainly in our future), so it felt very good to vocally tell them what we think about them. HELLOWEEN's new album, "Straight Out Of Hell", sold around 4,100 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 97 on The Billboard 200 chart. The CD entered the Media Control chart in Germany at position No. 4 — the highest chart position in the band's history. It also landed at No. 4 in Finland and No. 2 on the international album chart in Japan.

"Straight Out Of Hell" was released in Europe on January 18 and in North America on January 22.

German power metallers GAMMA RAY have issued the following update:

"After a successful tour across Europe and Asia, it is time now to finish what had been started with 'Master Of Confusion' EP beginning of this year: the band will enter their studio tomorrow looking through and carrying together new material for the new album, 'Empire Of The Undead', which is supposed to be completed right before the band heads out for the South American leg of the Hellish Rock II tour [with HELLOWEEN in late November]."

GAMMA RAY's new EP, "Master Of Confusion", was released on March 15 via earMUSIC, the Hamburg, Germany-based international rock label which is part of Edel Group.

In addition to the brand new title cut, "Master Of Confusion" features a second new studio track, "Empire Of The Undead", showing the heavier side of the band, with an explosion of energy and pure GAMMA RAY sound at its best.

The release is not free from tasty rarities: a brand new studio cover versions of British glam rock band SWEET ("Lost Angels" — "the reason I have joined a band many years ago," stated GAMMA RAY frontman Kai Hansen) and a hidden treasure of NWOBHM ("Death Or Glory" by HOLOCAUST).

"Master Of Confusion" is rounded off with six live versions ("The Spirit", "Wings Of Destiny", "Farewell", "Gamma Ray", "Time To Break Free" and "Insurrection", recorded in Bochum) that were already included on the Blu-ray "Skeletons & Majesties Live" but were not featured on the CD release (which included the show recorded in Pratteln).

EMPEROR frontman Ihsahn will release his new solo album, "Das Seelenbrechen", on October 22. The cover artwork for the CD can be seen below.

Ihsahn's April 21 performance at this year's edition of the Roadburn festival at the 013 venue in Tilburg, Holland was professionally recorded and can now be streamed using the audio player below.

Ihsahn's debut solo album, "The Adversary", was re-released as a limited two-LP edition, including layout by Trine + Kim Design Studio, last November via Blood Music.

"The Adversary" was originally released in April 2006 via Mnemosyne/Candlelight Records.

All music and lyrics for "The Adversary" were written and performed by Ihsahn with exception of drums, which were played by Asgeir Mickelson (BORKNAGAR, SPIRAL ARCHITECT).

"The Adversary" was written and recorded over a one-year period at Symphonique Studios in Norway and features a guest appearance by Garm from ULVER on one song.

Ihsahn's fourth album, "Eremita", sold around 900 copies in the United States in its first week of release. The CD landed at position No. 32 on the Top New Artist Albums (Heatseekers) chart, which lists the best-selling albums by new and developing artists, defined as those who have never appeared in the Top 100 of The Billboard 200.

German power metallers RUNNING WILD will release their new album, "Resilient", on October 4 in Germany and October 7 in the rest of Europe via Steamhammer/SPV.

RUNNING WILD mainman Rolf "Rock'n'Rolf" Kasparek has come up with twelve storm-proof numbers, ten of which are scheduled for release on the regular CD. Two bonus tracks and a poster will be included on the limited version of the album.

Kasparek was working full throttle on this new album since February 2013. Due to his intense involvement with GIANT X, his band with guitarist Peter Jordan, Rolf had consciously taken a break from RUNNING WILD and has now resumed work with the band with zest and lots of new ideas.

"The break was important and extremely refreshing for me," he explains. "I felt that renewed vigor as soon as I started writing the material for 'Resilient', tracks such as 'Fireheart' and 'Soldiers Of Fortune' just came pouring out of me. The dynamic pace of 'Soldiers Of Fortune' in particular kicked off a whole avalanche of creativity in me."

Rolf explains that "Resilient" is audibly tougher and more compact than its predecessor, "Shadowmaker", clearly enjoying his revived zest. "'Shadowmaker' happened to come about slightly unexpectedly and spontaneously, even for me," he says. "The album has brought back the fun I used to have with RUNNING WILD, and my fans will get to feel this fun when 'Resilient' comes out in October!"

The album's opener, "Soldiers Of Fortune", and the title track, "The Drift" and "Run Riot" will be three typical RUNNING WILD numbers. The most outstanding song on the album, however, is called "Bloody Island", with almost ten minutes playing time one of the longest tracks in RUNNING WILD's career to date. Rolf says: "As a composer, it's, of course, difficult for me to pigeonhole the new material stylistically, but friends who have heard the demo version of 'Bloody Island' claim that it would have fitted in on 'Pile Of Skulls'."

In terms of lyrics, there are the familiar fusillades that we've come to expect from RUNNING WILD: "Bloody Island" and the bonus track "Payola & Shenanigans" see Rock'n'Rolf criticize the curse of greed that we've seen specifically in the European banking crisis of recent years. "Crystal Gold" is about the obviously politically motivated privatization of drinking water, and "Fireheart" and "Run Riot" are warnings to RUNNING WILD's fans to be confident of themselves and vigilant towards authorities. Rolf says: "For me, that's the attitude which stands for that true rock'n'roll feeling."

"Resilient" was produced by Rock'n'Rolf himself, supported by Niki Nowy during the mixing and mastering process, as well as Katharina Nowy and Peter Jordan, who contributed a number of guitar solos. For the first time, Rolf worked with precise vocal lines during the demo recordings.

"The targeted use of lyrics and vocal melodies during the demo stage was new for me, but it worked out really well and I've never gone to the studio as well prepared as I did this time around," he says. "I didn't have to try and test things but only had to put a few finishing touches to my singing at the studio. A definite advantage!"

As to whether RUNNING WILD will present this brilliant album live on stage. Rolf says: "We've had a lot of festival offers for summer 2014, which we will look at carefully. We'll know more in a few months' time and will inform our fans as soon as we've made up our minds."

Dutch symphonic rockers WITHIN TEMPTATION have chosen the track "Paradise (What About Us?)" as the first single from their forthcoming studio album.

The reunited METAL CHURCH — Ronny Munroe on vocals, Kurdt Vanderhoof and Rick Van Zandt on guitars, Steve Unger on bass, and Jeff Plate on drums — recently inked a deal with Rat Pak Records. The band's tenth studio album, "Generation Nothing", will be released in the early fall via Kurdt's label Body Of Work Recordings in conjunction with Rat Pak.

According to Vanderhoof, "Generation Nothing" — which was recorded at Kurdt's English Channel studio in Washingtion — marks a "return to [METAL CHURCH's] classic metal sound. It has elements of the first album and 'The Dark', but still embraces the new sound of the band without chasing the past."

Munroe said in a recent interview with Metal Assault that the new METAL CHURCH effort would contain material that is "very reminiscent of the old days with some stuff that's very 'now.'" He added: "There's a bit of… I'm not going to say 'prog' because it's not, but there's a couple of elements in there that are a little bit progressive. For the most part, out of this batch of songs, they really sound more reminiscent of the early days than anything we've done before with this lineup. This excites me very much, and I think the fans are really going to dig it."

Regarding the circumstances that led to METAL CHURCH's breakup in 2009, Ronny said: "Well, in a nutshell, without going into a huge and long story here, it was certain aspects of things that had continued to happen to the band throughout its career. Not having the proper management and the proper people in place that were handling us. You know, we ended up taking some shows we shouldn't have taken and that just led to where Kurdt was really getting fed up and then we all kind of got that way. Basically, we figured before we end up disbanding because of other reasons such as maybe starting to fight with one another or whatnot, we decided to go ahead and end it then. We all ended up friends and we wanted to keep it that way. So I won't go into specifics, but we all know what the music industry is like now compared to what it was like back then. We just didn't have the right people in our camp."

Asked what the band is going to do differently this time around to avoid falling into the same trap, Ronny said: "This time around we're going to release this next record on Kurdt's label. Basically, Kurdt and the band and whatnot are taking a lot more control of the situation. Yes, maybe the downloading thing is even worse than 2009, but also on the other hand, if you know what you're doing and you use the Internet correctly, you can actually have success. Kurdt's been doing that with his prog band PRESTO BALLET and whatnot. In this day and age, the time is right to go and try something on your own. If it doesn't work, you can always end up going out and searching for a label or something. We're going to take a shot at it and see what happens and I think we're probably going to have some decent success."

According to numerous reports out of New Orleans, Joey LaCaze, drummer of EYEHATEGOD, OUTLAW ORDER and TEN SUICIDES, has passed away. No further details are currently available.

EYEHATEGOD just completed a month-long tour of Europe and was gearing up for a string of dates in celebration of its 25th anniversary.

It was recently announced that EYEHATEGOD would make an appearance at Philip Anselmo's first annual Housecore Horror Film Festival this fall in Austin, Texas.

Since forming in 1988, EYEHATEGOD has defied all odds and continues to exist and persist despite personal and professional setbacks. They've been called doomcore, sludge and stoner rock, survived line-up shuffles, label hassles and a short-lived split. And after more than two decades of creating some of the most corrosive, vile music known to man, EYEHATEGOD still hasn't lost the piss and vinegar that fueled it back the late Eighties.

Picture what a combination such metallic-yet-melodic bands as CHEVELLE, DISTURBED and SEVENDUST would sound like, and you're not far off from 3 YEARS HOLLOW. Hailing from the Quad Cities (Illinois, Iowa), 3 YEARS HOLLOW is comprised of Jose Urquiza (vocals), Tony Reeves (guitar), Neil Kuhlman (guitar, vocals), Dex Digga (bass) and Chris Cushman (drums), and the band is certainly creating a buzz with rock fans throughout the country, resulting in the recent recording contract with Imagen Records.

3 YEARS HOLLOW's as-yet-untitled new album was produced by SEVENDUST guitarist Clint Lowery, and recorded at multiple studios, including Groovemaster Studios (DISTURBED, SEVENDUST, POP EVIL) in Chicago, Ilinois; Trailer Studios in St. Louis, Missouri; and the band's own studio, Real Trax Recording, in Davenport, Iowa.

3 YEARS HOLLOW has already made their presence felt on SiriusXM Octane, when the station added the song "Remember" to rotation. The band has also shown that they can deliver the goods on the concert stage, as evidenced by dates with the likes of EYE EMPIRE, SEVENDUST and LACUNA COIL.

Fans may have seen a new face on stage during former SKID ROW singer Sebastian Bach's latest tour. This would be Los Angeles-based guitarist Devin Bronson, who has previously toured with Avril Lavigne and Pink. Before joining Sebastian's band on the road, Devin began working with Bach in the studio earlier this year alongside Duff McKagan (VELVET REVOLVER, GUNS N' ROSES).

Asked by Italian web radio Linearock.it in a June 2012 interview what the reason is for the frequent lineup changes in his solo band, Bach said, "It's a very easy answer. It's all to do with finance. If you get paid a certain amount of money, you can't pay to play… If I tell a guy in my band, 'This is what we're getting. We all have to split it.' Some guys will be like, 'Fuck that!' And I'm like, 'You know what?! Bye!' [laughs] 'Cause it's a business. When you see me change bandmembers, it's usually a business decision."

Bach is currently in the studio working on his next album with producer Bob Marlette (BLACK SABBATH, ALICE COOPER), who helmed the singer's last solo CD, 2011's "Kicking & Screaming". Sebastian recently told fans in an online post to "expect high-energy music.... perfect for driving quickly, or jack-hammering concrete." He added about his lyrical approach on the new songs: "[I] don't want to beat you over the head with sobriety, or ex-wives, or ex-bandmembers, or any of the other constant bullshit that I seem to be personally dealing with. So I am choosing my words carefully... because this music is straight-up, balls-to-the-wall, kick-you-in-the-nuts rock 'n' roll. And I need the words to reflect that."

Bach's next solo CD, which is tentatively due in early 2014 via Frontiers Records, is expected to feature contributions from Steve Stevens (BILLY IDOL) and Los Angeles-based guitarist Jeff George, who previously played with ASKING ALEXANDRIA's lead vocalist Danny Worsnop. Making a guest appearance on the album will also be Duff McKagan.

When not on tour, Bronson writes music for a wide array of TV shows, including "Californication" on Showtime and "Hellcats".

New York-based malignant noise instigators and recent Seventh Rule signees, GNAW, will unleash the diseased fruit of their sonic discontent this October.
Gnaw is the maniacal anti-creation of Alan Dubin (KHANATE, OLD, O.L.D.), Carter Thornton (ENOS SLAUGHTER), Jun Mizumachi (IKE YARD), Brian Beatrice and Eric Neuser. Together they've manifested a terrifyingly claustrophobic, seven-track journey of sound where the collective sentiments of fear, trauma, rage and repugnance collide into a cathartic state of brooding, audio disease.

Fittingly titled, Horrible Chamber, the follow-up to 2009's This Face was recorded at Seizures Palace by Jason LaFarge and mixed by Brian Beatrice at audioEngine and mastered by James Plotkin, with additional elements recorded by Beatrice, Dubin, Thornton, and Mizumachi in various chambers.

Comments the band in a distant shriek: "We are thrilled that Seventh Rule is about to unleash Horrible Chamber upon the masses. We have been working hard creating an extremely unique record that will make people feel ecstatic about feeling bad."

Horrible Chamber will be unleashed via Seventh Rule Recordings on October 15th. Pre-order details to be unveiled in the coming weeks.

Dutch death metallers CROCELL have parted ways with guitarist "Smukke" Ken Holst (ILLDISPOSED). A replacement for Ken has already been found in Rasmus "Hexen" Henriksen (ex-PANZERCHRIST, ex-DIE, ex-SLOW DEATH FACTORY) who is a longtime
friend of Crocell.
Ken explains: "Somehow, down the road, I completely lost the spirit and commitment to taking this band further. Please welcome Hexen on guitar - he is the perfect match for this band! See you guys at the bar from now on."

Drummer Andreas Posselt comments: "We are sorry that Ken is no longer in the band as he is not only a gifted guitarist, but also a good friend. Ken was one of the driving forces behind Crocell when we started out six years ago and since then we have spent countless hours in the rehearsal room, in the studios, and on the road with him. Three albums and more than 60 concerts later, we would like to say thanks a lot for the ride and we wish you all the best! The rest of us are 100% committed to keep the band going, though, and with Hexen on board we are confident that Crocell is as strong as ever!"

Hexen will play his first show with Crocell at Radar in Aarhus, Denmark on September 7th.
Crocell recently released a new song ‘My Path Of Heresy’. The song is the longest and most blackened song on Crocell's third album, Come Forth Plague, opening with an atmospheric acoustic intro followed by intense death/black metal riffing.

Come Forth Plague was released through Metal Hell Records on June 1st. The album is the first with Asbjørn Steffensen (MORDAX) behind the microphone after a split with the previous lead singer, Magnus Jørgensen (ex-PANZERCHRIST), in 2012. The album was recorded at Death Island Studios in Denmark with Marco Angioni as producer and it features cover artwork by the Danish tattooist Odin Roar Uldall.

Eric Bryan, known for his bass and vocal work with California's NECROSCOPE, and ABSTRACT PRAYER, and perhaps more famously as the 'metal fan/bass player with the cool posters and figurines' in the Sam Dunn documentary film Metal: A Headbanger's Journey, has joined the ranks of ANGER AS ART in time for the band's US tour dates through 2013 and 2014.

Says founding member Steve Gaines: "We have known Eric since Anger As Art supported OVERKILL back in 2005. He gave a very in depth critique of our debut album, one that let me know he listened closely. We did radio and print interviews with him... I joined his band onstage... only later did I realize he was the same guy from the movie. Just a good guy and an old soul. When we found our bassist position open, he came in and nailed it."

Eric's first show with AAA took place on August 9 in Los Angeles, CA. Video footage from that night can be seen below:

PEARL JAM: 'Mind Your Manners' Video Released

"Mind Your Manners", the new video from PEARL JAM, can be seen below. The clip, which was produced by famed photographer and film director Danny Clinch, features the band performing in front of a screen filled with partially animated scenes of violence and mass devastation.

PEARL JAM's new album, "Lightning Bolt", will be released on October 15 in the U.S. It is currently available for pre-order on iTunes and on the band's official web site.

PEARL JAM has been working on the new disc since 2011. It follows up 2009's "Backspacer".

PEARL JAM's tour will begin on October 11 in Pittsburgh and wind down on December 6 in the band's hometown of Seattle.

Clinch previously directed PEARL JAM's 2007 concert documentary film "Immagine In Cornice".

Dark Essence Records has inked a deal with Swedish rockers ALFAHANNE - a considerable achievement for the relatively young band as it takes its place amongst the well established, and in some cases legendary names that feature in the Norwegian label’s roster. All the more so when you consider that Alfahanne have been able to attract the services of TAAKE’s Hoest, SHINING’s Niklas Kvarforth, and HELHEIM’s V’gandr as guest artist on what will be the band’s debut full-length album which is set to hit the streets in January of 2014.
Formed in 2010, Alfahanne's debut release came in 2013 with the appearance of the 'Grym' split 7” with Sweden’s Shining. Playing what the band calls Alfapocalyptic Rock, which mixes black metal with classic rock and punk, and topped off with some goth influences, Alfahanne has created a style of music that is powerful and beautiful, yet ugly at the same time, and about which the band says: “When you are into it you don´t feel pleasure and you don´t feel pain but you definitely FEEL."

Although Alfahanne itself might be a fairly new name to a lot of people, the band’s members, which include Pehr Skioldhammer on vocals and guitar, Fredrik Sööberg on guitars, Niklas Åström on drums and Jimmy Wiberg on bass, have been around the black metal scene since the early ‘90’s, playing in bands like VINTERLAND and early MAZE OF TORMENT. Skioldhammer in fact is one of the featured guest vocalists on the upcoming release from Niklas Kvarforth’s Shining 8 ½ - Feberdrömmar I Vaket Tillstånd, which will be released on Dark Essence Records on September 23rd.
Commenting on the upcoming album and their collaboration with Dark Essence Records Alfahanne said: “The Mayan’s got it wrong about 2012, but we’re pretty sure we’ll be proved right when we say that the “Alfapocalypse” will happen in 2014 when the new album hits the streets. With Alfahanne there is one way in and no way out."

Irish melodic tech death quintet DICHOTOMY has recently posted a new song 'No Catharsis' following the release of debut album Paradigms last week.



The band hailing from Dublin, Ireland draw influences from bands such as DEATH, NECROPHAGIST, GOJIRA and OPETH and was formed in 2010 by guitarists Andy Kealy and Rats with a mind to combine the technicality of death metal with the groove and musicality of other genres. After establishing a lineup in 2010 the band began writing material under the name Dichotomy to suitably describe the contrasting styles used in the music. Summer 2012 bore the fruits of their hard labor as the band took up residence at the world renowned Westland Studios in Dublin to record Paradigms with producer Alwyn Walker.

"Paradigms (are) about a multiple of things." comments lead guitarist Steven 'Rats' Rahaman. "The five of us wanted to get together and write music that we would be happy to listen to ourselves. We all individually have a varied taste in music and style so the music we created had allot of contrast so the name Dichotomy was chosen. The lyrics themselves in Paradigms create a collection of dichotomies. So in a nutshell you could say that Paradigms is about the band name which is about the music."

On August 13, SOILENT GREEN/CROWBAR drummer Tommy Buckley underwent a prostatectomy (an operation to remove the prostate gland and some of the tissue around it) after being diagnosed with prostate cancer. According to a posting on the SOILENT GREEN Facebook page, "The cancer was in a small part in his prostate but doctor suggested the total removal to prevent the spreading of cancerous cells. He is doing great with the love and care of his family and friends. Lisa D. Ryder, Tommy's girlfriend, gets a special blessing for being so wonderful to him. She has been an angel. He is in her care right now.

"Tommy got his staples taken out today and should have catheter out in two weeks.

"Tommy decided that he wanted to go public with his surgery to let people be aware of the importance of prostate health. He is ready to play [as soon as possible]!! We ask that you keep him in your prayers!!! He will beat this..."
