SAHG: More 'Delusions Of Grandeur' Details RevealedNorwegian psychedelic quartet SAHG, which specializes in doom-infused '70s rock, will release their new album, "Delusions Of Grandeur", on October 25 via Indie Recordings.
"Delusions Of Grandeur" track listing:
01. Slip Off The Edge Of The Universe02. Blizzardborne03. Firechild04. Walls Of Delusion05. Ether06. Then Wakens The Beast07. Odium Delirium08. Sleeper's Gate To The Galaxy
"Delusions Of Grandeur" is a concept record "about a person, whose delusions of grandeur escalate to the level where they consume him completely," explains SAHG's Olav Iversen (vocals, guitar). "From becoming increasingly psychopathic and dominant, he loses touch with everyone around him and isolates into his own imaginary, psychotic world, where he becomes the almighty ruler of the universe. As he stands on the highest peak of his domain and beholds all that he has conquered, he suddenly slips off the edge and floats away, weightless. Helpless and stripped of all power, he drifts further into the open space, until he disappears into the darkness. It's an album about how desire for power and property can distort and destroy who we are."
SAHG's new CD was recorded at Duper studio in Bergen, Norway.
SAHG's third album, "Sahg III", came out on August 30, 2010 through Indie.
SAHG is:
Olav Iversen - Vocals/GuitarTony Vetaas - BassThomas Tofthagen - GuitarThomas Lønnheim - Drums

ALICE IN CHAINS: Quality Fan-Filmed Video Footage Of Chicago ConcertQuality fan-filmed video footage of ALICE IN CHAINS' August 22 performance at the First Midwest Bank Amphitheatre in Tinley Park, Illinois as part of the 2013 Rockstar Energy Drink Uproar Festival can be seen below.
According to The Pulse Of Radio, ALICE IN CHAINS guitarist Jerry Cantrell was asked recently in an interview with Radio.com about the chances of his band getting inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame. ALICE IN CHAINS' debut album, "Facelift", came out in 1990, which would make the group eligible in 2015. Cantrell, who performed at this year's ceremony with inductees HEART, said about the possibility, "We're not in this to win awards. And that's the attitude I went there with. And I have to say, in fairness, that my opinion was a bit changed by being a guest with HEART and seeing how much it meant for them. It was a cool show, it was with a lot of respect. I was kind of moved." Cantrell added, "I also liked what [RUSH drummer and Hall Of Fame inductee] Neil Peart said: 'For years, we've been saying that this isn't a big deal. Turns out: it's a pretty big deal!' It was cool to see him say that."
ALICE IN CHAINS' fellow Seattle groups, SOUNDGARDEN and PEARL JAM, are also at or close to eligibility. SOUNDGARDEN is eligible now, while PEARL JAM will celebrate 25 years since the release of "Ten" in 2016.
ALICE IN CHAINS is currently touring behind its fifth studio album, "The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here", which debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard album chart in June, selling 61,000 copies in its first week of release. The disc follows up 2009's "Black Gives Way To Blue", which was the group's first all-new collection of material in 14 years. That CD opened with 126,000 units back in October 2009 to debut at No. 5.
ALICE IN CHAINS was last in the Top Two with its self-titled 1995 set, which debuted at No. 1 on that year's November 25 chart, according to Billboard.com. It would be their final studio release with singer Layne Staley, who died in 2002.
"The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here" is ALICE IN CHAINS' second album with William DuVall on vocals.
DuVall began touring with the group in 2006, four years after the death of Layne Staley from a drug overdose.
ALICE IN CHAINS began working on the new disc in 2011, but the sessions for the album were delayed when Jerry Cantrell had to undergo shoulder surgery.

CLUTCH: 'Crucial Velocity' Video Released"Crucial Velocity", the new Aisha Tyler-directed video from Maryland rockers CLUTCH, can be seen below. The song comes off the band's latest album, "Earth Rocker", which sold 22,000 copies in its first week of release to debut at position No. 15 on The Billboard 200 chart.
Released via CLUTCH's own Weathermaker Music label, "Earth Rocker" entered the German Media Control chart at No. 71. In the U.K., the CD landed at No. 50 on the regular chart, No. 3 on the Rock/Metal Albums chart and No. 11 on the Independent Albums chart. Produced by Machine (LAMB OF GOD, FOUR YEAR STRONG, FALL OUT BOY) at the Machine Shop studio in Belleville, New Jersey, "Earth Rocker" was described by CLUTCH vocalist Neil Fallon in a recent interview with DCHeavyMetal.com as "probably faster than most of our recent albums. Maybe compared to some other bands, it's not the fastest thing on planet Earth. For us it was definitely a step up in the tempo. And I think the other thing that kind of stands out about this one is the blues influences that we've been flirting with over the past couple records is more or less absent in this record, which didn't really happen intentionally until we looked back at it. As a whole, it's just much more of a straight-up rock and roll record."
The artwork for "Earth Rocker" was created by Nick Lakiotes, longtime CLUTCH art director, who has worked on previous efforts, including "Robot Hive/Exodus" and "Strange Cousins From The West".

STRYPER: 'Revelation' Lyric Video ReleasedThe official lyric video for the song "Revelation" from Christian rockers STRYPER can be seen below. The track comes off the band's new album, "No More Hell To Pay", which will be released on November 5 in North America via Frontiers Records. The effort will be made available in two formats — standard CD and deluxe digipak featuring exclusive video content. Produced by frontman/guitarist Michael Sweet himself, the set features some of STRYPER's strongest and heaviest material ever.
Commented Sweet, "'No More Hell To Pay' marks our 30-year anniversary and what a journey it has been! It's our eleventh studio release since our first album in 1984 ('The Yellow & The Black Attack') and it's quite possibly our best record to date. Why? It's everything you might expect from a STRYPER record — high-octane vocals, layered vocal harmonies, guitar solos galore, driving drums and bass and an energy that hasn't been achieved since our glory days. The message is equally as powerful as it offers hope and inspiration to anyone listening. If you're a STRYPER fan, it'll make you proud to be one. If you're not, listen with caution as you may actually become one.
"We've been waving the striped flag for 30 years and we're proud to say that it's an honor to still be making music with you and for you. The best is yet to come and it's coming November 5th!"
"No More Hell To Pay" includes STRYPER's cover version of "Jesus Is Just Alright", a gospel song written by Arthur Reid Reynolds. STRYPER guitarist/vocalist Michael Sweet said, "It rivals our cover of EARTH, WIND & FIRE's 'Shining Star' — riffs!"
"Jesus Is Just Alright" was first recorded by Reynolds' own group, THE ART REYNOLDS SINGERS, on their 1966 album, "Tellin' It Like It Is". It was later covered by THE BYRDS and THE DOOBIE BROTHERS.
"No More Hell To Pay" track listing:
01. Revelation02. No More Hell To Pay03. Saved By Love04. Jesus Is Just Alright05. The One06. Legacy07. Marching Into Battle08. Te Amo09. Sticks & Stones10. Water Into Wine11. Sympathy12. Renewed
Regarding the musical direction of STRYPER's new material, Michael Sweet told Screamer Magazine: "The song 'God', which is on 'The Covering'; if you took that song along with 'Bleeding From Inside Out' and 'Blackened' [from 'Second Coming'], and you put it on the same album, that's a pretty good indication of where we are going and where we are at right now. But at the same time this album is all its own."
He added: "Every song has a hooky guitar riff. Everything is in minor keys, so it's a little darker sounding and a little tougher. It's definitely our heaviest record and I think people will be pleasantly surprised.
"The people who do like the poppier side of STRYPER, like 'Calling On You' and 'Holding On', this record isn't going to really give them that. There are a lot of vocal hooks and melodies going on, but it's a little darker, and a little edgier. To reference, there is less songs like 'Calling On You' and more songs like 'To Hell With The Devil'. It's more in that vein than the poppier vein."

BUTLER: If WARD Played Like He Used To, We'd Have Welcomed Him With Open ArmsBrian McCollum of the Detroit Free Press recently conducted an interview with legendary BLACK SABBATH bassist Geezer Butler. A few excerpts from the chat follow below.
On the band's new album, "13", topping sales charts across the globe:
Butler: "It's just amazed us. We thought there'd be some interest in it. But never in our wildest dreams would we have expected it to go to No. 1. Around the world, all over the place, it's doing well."
On the original BLACK SABBATH lineup being considered the band's most definitive incarnation:
Butler: "When you mention it to the average person, they'll know BLACK SABBATH with Ozzy [Osbourne, vocals] in the band. That was our breakthrough (period) in the '70s. People so often associate Ozzy with SABBATH, and SABBATH with Ozzy. It's the same thing with a band like VAN HALEN — people like David Lee Roth and Sammy Hagar, but the classic lineup would be Dave."
On producer Rick Rubin's contribution to the new album's success:
Butler: "When we tried to do albums in the past, we all had different ideas of what it should be like, and it never ended up being successful. This is what we needed — we needed a producer. Rick Rubin had always made it known he wanted to be the first-choice producer if we all got back together.
"He wanted to go back to the old, basic sort of SABBATH sound — not a lot of overdubs, just a couple of guitar solos. You capture the feeling. With a lot of bands these days — and we have in the past — you'll go put the drums down, the next day you put on the bass, then guitar. It doesn't have the same feeling as being in the room together with Ozzy singing. That's how we did the first three albums."
On BLACK SABBATH's current touring drummer Tommy Clufetos, who has previously played with Osbourne, Ted Nugent, Alice Cooper and Rob Zombie:
Butler: "Tommy's a real nice bloke to get on with as well. He's a phenomenal drummer — he picks things up so quickly. It's incredible the way he works. He's really dedicated to the stuff he does."
On original SABBATH drummer Bill Ward's absence from the "13" recording sessions and current tour:
Butler: "It would be great if Bill ever came back, it really would, if all the stars and planets were aligned. It would be a democratic decision, really. If Bill felt up to it, and played like he used to be able to play, we'd have welcomed him with open arms. But you have to maintain a certain standard. You can't go on with someone not up to standard, no matter who they are."

TURISAS: 'Ten More Miles' Video Released"Ten More Miles", the new Jukka Salo-directed video from Finnish "battle metal" warriors TURISAS, can be seen below. The song comes off the band's new album, "Turisas2013", which was released on August 26 in Europe and will be made available on September 3 in North America. The CD was once again produced by vocalist Mathias Nygård and the majority of the album was recorded by Nygård and guitarist Jussi Wickström in a remote house outside of Helsinki that served as the "Turisas2013" command center and headquarters. Additional recordings were done in three other studios: the drums at Atomic Spa Studio and orchestral recordings at 5 by 5 Studio, both in Helsinki. A lot of vocals and numerous additional acoustic elements were laid down at Sound Supreme Studio in Hämeenlinna where TURISAS also recorded "The Varangian Way" and "Stand Up And Fight".
"Turisas2013" track listing:
01. For Your Own Good (4:34)02. Ten More Miles (4:16)03. Piece by Piece (5:37)04. Into The Free (3:50)05. Run Bhang-Eater, Run! (4:43)06. Greek Fire (4:51)07. The Days Passed (4:33)08. No Good Story Ever Starts With Drinking Tea (2:51)09. We Ride Together (6:33)
Says vocalist Mathias Nygård: "'Turisas2013' is a very diverse album: it has some of the heaviest and fastest tracks that we've ever done, but 'For Your Own Good' comes more from the lighter end. It's a very catchy song and we hope you'll enjoy the track that we picked to give you a very first taste of the many flavors to come."
With "Turisas2013", TURISAS deliberately aimed for a more organic sound.
Comments Nygård: "When it comes to the production, it's just the opposite of the polished and massive 'Stand Up And Fight'. It's raw and dry and in your face, but still maintaining that TURISAS largeness.
"People attest us that we are a great live band, and we wanted the album to be based more around that than orchestral massiveness. It's our most varied record to date and even if some of the songs sound very different, I think the common thread is that every single one has a lot of energy to it."
The mix and mastering was done by London-based producer Jaime Gomez Arellano, who previously worked with GHOST, PRIMODIAL and ULVER, just to name a few.

DEVILDRIVER's Cover Version Of AWOLNATION's 'Sail' Available For StreamingDEVILDRIVER's cover version of indie/electro mob AWOLNATION's biggest hit, "Sail" can be streamed using the SoundCloud widget below. The song appears on DEVILDRIVER's new album, "Winter Kills", which was released on August 27 via Napalm Records. The instrumental parts for the CD were recorded at Audiohammer Studios in Sanford, Florida while the vocals were laid down at Fafara's home studio, with Mark Lewis (THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER, WHITECHAPEL, ALL THAT REMAINS) handling production duties. The album's cover artwork features a photograph by Dean Karr. The layout was done by Ryan Clark of Invisible Creature.
"Winter Kills" is being made available in four configurations, including a deluxe digibook with CD (including two bonus tracks, "Shudder" and "Back Down To The Grave") and live DVD (featuring 45 minutes of live raw DEVILDRIVER power — no studio overdubs at all, just the band at their best — and including fan favorites "Clouds Over California" and "The Wretched"), standard CD version, digital version and, for the first time in DEVILDRIVER history, a 2LP gatefold edition.
DEVILDRIVER previously worked with Lewis on 2011's "Beast" and 2007's "The Last Kind Words". Comments Fafara: "This is by far DEVILDRIVER's most cohesive, powerful, groove-laden record to date! We delivered our signature California groove sound alongside a raw and biting guitar tone, mixed it with massive hooks, added in thunderous drums to rethink and reshape another different sounding unique piece of rock and roll!
"DEVILDRIVER has always and will forever be about thinking outside the box and delivering on something different from record to record. We cannot be assimilated into any scene or even genre of metal, and we will continue to do things our own way with a massive middle finger in the air to the status quo!"

The CD was mixed and mastered by Tue Madsen at Antfarm Studio in Aarhus, Denmark. The artwork and layout design was conceived by Costin Chioreanu (Twilight13Media)
A teaser for the album can be seen below.
"Antikythera" recording lineup:
* Anders Björler (THE HAUNTED, AT THE GATES) - Guitar, Keyboards, Mellotron & Moog* Morgan Ågren (MATS & MORGAN BAND, KAIPA, FREDRIK THORDENDAL'S SPECIAL DEFECTS) - Drums, Percussion* Dick Lövgren (MESHUGGAH) - Bass* Carl Svensson - Additional Electric And Acoustic Guitars* Peter Wiberg (THE SPOTNICKS) - Piano* Anders Gabrielson - Saxophone
Anders previously stated about his upcoming album: "This is NOT a 'metal' project. Those of you who are familiar with my soundtrack/movie stuff for THE HAUNTED and AT THE GATES documentaries will know somewhat to expect. It's inspired by Italian film music from the '60 and '70s, post rock, ambient, progressive, jazz, and Swedish folk music."
Björler announced his departure from THE HAUNTED in October. He explained in a statement, "I feel that I have come to the end of the line regarding THE HAUNTED. This is not a sudden or hasty decision. I have been contemplating it for the last couple of years. Peter's [Dolving, vocals] departure [in early 2012] made me more certain than ever that I had reached my personal goal with THE HAUNTED, and that the time was right to call it quits. I have enjoyed every bit of the ride. It's been an overwhelming journey."

DAVE MUSTAINE Studying 'World History' And 'Crazy Science Stuff' For Next MEGADETH AlbumEven though MEGADETH's latest album, "Super Collider" is less than three months old, MEGADETH mainman Dave Mustaine is already thinking ahead about the group's follow-up effort. He tweeted the following message earlier today: "I have been studying a lot of world history and a lot of crazy science stuff for new lyrics. This world is so fascinating!"
Speaking to the "Shockwaves"/"HardRadio" podcast earlier in the year, Mustaine stated about the "Super Collider" title track and cover artwork: "I love the concept, I love the artwork that we have for this record — it's the Hadron Collider, and that is a remarkable machine. And if you look at the Super Collider, the thing itself — whether it does a damn bit of good or not, nobody really knows; I don't know how it's gonna correlate to lowering gas prices or anything like that, or getting people to stop trying to run everybody's lives right now and the dumbing down of America… But it's really cool if you look at how big it is. A lot of pictures on the 'Net will show this enormous machinery and guys the size of ants next to it. And the one picture that we used for our cover was, like I said, the Hadron Collider and it's just beautiful stuff, man."
He added: "Science is really interesting. I mean, I don't believe in evolution, I believe in creation, so science only goes so far with me, but I really dig looking at that whole way that's set up with the tubing and the piping and the reactors and all the stuff that goes along with it. You have to see it for yourself."

ARMORED SAINT Working On New MaterialVeteran Los Angeles metallers ARMORED SAINT have commenced the songwriting process for the follow-up to 2010's "La Raza" for a tentative late 2014 release via Metal Blade Records.
Speaking to Metal Assault earlier this month, ARMORED SAINT bassist Joey Vera stated about the band's plans for the next CD: "We decided that we didn't want to wait another ten years to make a new record [laughs], so we're trying to work this out as a group. John [Bush, vocals] and I started working on some songs in February this year and I got a bunch of stuff that came out really quick and we wrote a few songs in February-March, but then I had to kind of put it on the back burner because I got involved with several mixing projects and then, of course, the FATES WARNING, which took up a lot of my time, learning the material and then obviously recording that. The FATES WARNING record is finally done and is coming out in the U.S. this fall, but John and I resumed writing in early July and we have a good chunk of songs now. We've got about five that are done, and another six that are almost finished. So we've just got to get back to it and our goal is to try and get this finished before 2018 [laughs]. In a perfect world, it would be great if we could have the album out by fall of 2014. It's not set in stone yet, but that's what we're shooting for right now."
Fan-filmed video footage of ARMORED SAINT's August 16 performance at Paladino's in Reseda, California at a benefit show for drummer Dave Brown (ex-SOUND BARRIER, MASI, TOTAL ECLIPSE), who is battling cancer, can be seen below.
"La Raza" sold around 2,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release. The CD landed at position No. 18 on the Top New Artist Albums (Heatseekers) chart, which lists the best-selling albums by new and developing artists, defined as those who have never appeared in the Top 100 of The Billboard 200. "La Raza" also entered the German Media Control chart at No. 96 and the Canadian Independent chart at No. 85.
The classic first EP from ARMORED SAINT was reissued on August 13, 2012 in Europe via Metal Blade Records with bonus tracks and etching on vinyl. 2
