TERROR SYNDROME - \"Second Album Will Happen\"Drummer Ryan Van Poederooyen (DEVIN TOWNSEND PROJECT, TERROR SYNDROME) checks in with the following update:
"New Terror Syndrome music has been written! I was practising and learning drums for the new Devin Townsend Project album and took a break from learning songs and finally decided to write two new Terror Syndrome songs for the next album. YES, there will be a second album. Dave Padden (ANNIHILATOR) is a busy man with touring, Dave Young and I are busy as well with touring and recording with the Devin Townsend Project. When will the new Terror Syndrome album will be recorded and released? I don't know, when time allows BUT it will happen.
Our debut album has been released world-wide through iTunes and other online distributors for a while now and thanks to all of you who support the band and have purchased the album online. We've played a few rare shows, when time allowed. Trying to tour Terror Syndrome is very difficult with our commitments to DTP and Annihilator. This project was self funded by yours truly from the beginning. We did look at label offers and such but nothing made sense. Terror Syndrome was either going all out with the right support from a label or it was going to be released as a side project for the listening pleasure of our fans. We did not want to settle with a deal that wouldn't get us in the right situation for touring and promoting the band.
With the second record, things will be just as intense, brutal and catchy as the first album. You will also get to hear Dave Padden's influence on the band. It won't disappoint, trust me.
As for live.... there WILL be more shows and touring could be a possibility if time and the right situation should arise. We WILL be back on stage. Mark my words!
Thanks for all your support. We have great fans who have supported us for a long time now. I read all the mail and return it as much as I can. Please remember I'm one hell of a busy dude! Stay posted for new music, it's being written and it WILL be recorded and released.
Thanks for your support, you ALL RULE!" 1

NIGHTWISH Singer Says New Album Is Turning Out To Be \'Something Very Special\' On Wednesday, September 8, singer Anette Olzon of Finnish/Swedish symphonic metallers NIGHTWISH began laying down vocal tracks on a demo recording of the songs that will appear on the group's next studio album. The pre-production sessions for the new CD are taking place in "the deepest countryside of Finland," where most of the band spent several weeks finalizing the song arrangements and recording their instrumental parts. The actual recording process for NIGHTWISH's follow-up to 2007's "Dark Passion Play" is slated to begin on October 15 for a late 2011 release.
Commented Olzon: "Wednesday morning we started my recordings and we recorded three songs per day and two the last day. All in all, four days to record all the songs.
"Ever since I got the very first instrumental demo [NIGHTWISH keyboardist/mainman] Tuomas [Holopainen] made, I have felt that this album will be something very special. The songs and themes Tuomas has put together are really varied, interesting and there are elements that haven't been used before. Still it's NIGHTWISH and also going back to some roots from earlier albums. Vocally, for me, it's much more varied since I use my voice in more different aspects than in [2007's] 'Dark Passion Play'. Tuomas for sure knows my voice and range now.
"Now I really long to hear how the album will come together with the orchestra, choirs, etc., and already now I feel I long to do my actual vocal recordings which will be done in March next year." 125

LEMMY To Guest On New MICHAEL MONROE AlbumMichael Monroe, iconic rock and roll frontman and founding member of hugely influential Finnish outfit HANOI ROCKS, has entered a Los Angeles studio with legendary producer Jack Douglas (AEROSMITH, JOHN LENNON, CLUTCH, SLASH'S SNAKEPIT, NEW YORK DOLLS) to begin recording Monroe's new solo album, tentatively due in early 2011 via Universal Music subsidiary Spinefarm Records.
Commented Monroe: "We're busy working away here in L.A. and it's going great! After five days of pre-production with Jack, we did our first day of actual recording [on Saturday, September 11]. What made it extra-special was that Lemmy [Kilmister of MOTÖRHEAD] came by to collaborate on a song, which he also sang on with me. A huge honor and great fun, too, of course. We had a real cool time and at the end of the evening he played us the new MOTÖRHEAD album, which sounded totally amazing, although it wasn't even the final mix.
"Lemmy is THE MAN! I can't wait for the U.K. tour in November with us opening up for MOTÖRHEAD!
"Yesterday [Sunday, September 12], our second day of recording, we've gotten down the basic tracks (bass, drums and guitars) for nine songs, out of the 15 we are recording. If we'll finish the basics for the remaining six songs tomorrow, we'll be nicely ahead of schedule.
"Everything's sounding brilliant already.
"Working with our producer Jack Douglas is absolutely fantastic!"
Michael Monroe's brand new live album, "Another Night In The Sun/Live In Helsinki", is set for release on September 27 via Spinefarm. Mixed in Los Angeles by Niko Bolas (whose credits include NEIL YOUNG, FRANK SINATRA, KEITH RICHARDS, KISS, SPINAL TAP and more) and mastered by Grammy winner Richard Dodd (the man behind TOM PETTY and DIXIE CHICKS), the CD — recorded on July 6 at the Tavastia Club in Helsinki, Finland — features key tracks from Monroe's solo career spiced up with selected HANOI classics, some well-chosen covers, plus two brand new, previously unreleased songs — "You're Next" and "Motorheaded For A Fall". 1

WHITESNAKE Keyboardist Quits To Pursue \'Solo\' CareerKeyboardist Timothy Drury (pictured below) has left the legendary rock band WHITESNAKE in order to "pursue a solo career."
"For over seven years now I have been fortunate enough to travel the world, to play and sing my heart out and to share the stage with David Coverdale as a part of WHITESNAKE," Drury said in a statement.
"I've learned so much from David Coverdale and this experience, about following one's heart, about being authentic, about never letting fear prevent one from pursuing one's destiny. More than ever, I see the value of what I can express as a composer and producer, photographer, songwriter, singer... as an artist. That is why I must now say my goodbyes to you all and take my leave to pursue some very important creative projects that have been brewing for some time now.
"I am currently preparing for my first photography show in the Winfield Gallery in Carmel where I will be performing my cinematic music at the opening and projecting my images and video on screens. The event will be happening as part of the Carmel Art and Film Festival, October 6th through the 10th."
WHITESNAKE singer David Coverdale said: "We are sad to lose such a valued member of the band, but, we understand, support and sincerely wish Timothy every success in his solo career & thank him for a great, fun journey together."
At this time WHITESNAKE is focusing on finishing the new studio album before seeking a replacement keyboard player. 1

FORGOTTEN TOMB Check In From The Studio - \"We Aren\'t Making A Glam Rock Album Here!\"Italy's FORGOTTEN TOMB have started the recording sessions for the long-anticipated brand-new studio album, Under Saturn Retrograde, to be released by Agonia Records in early 2011. Founding vocalist/guitarist Herr Morbid has issued the following update:
"We started setting up the drums and placing all the microphones on Friday morning, the August 27th. We placed something like 20 microphones on the drum-kit this time, just to make sure we can get the right sound, heh! Asher started playing and recording in late morning and then after lunch through all the afternoon, 'til 7:00pm. He recorded following a metronome and I played a rhythm guitar line in the background, just to make sure everything work out right. The process went definitely smooth and we managed to track drums for five songs out of nine. On August 28th , we started the sessions in the morning and we tracked down the other four songs in less than six hours. Again, the process was quite easy, though we took a bit more time for the title track since it's rythmically a bit more complex than the other songs and it's divided in two parts. At the end of the day, I also recorded some tambourine for a song ('The Cult Docet') and some cowbell as well - everyone knows my crush for Southern rock, heh. But don't worry, we aren't making a glam rock album here!" 2

LEAVES\' EYES Vocalist Liv Kristine - \"I Received An Invitation From THEATRE OF TRAGEDY Asking Me If I Wanted To Make A Guest Appearance At Their Final Gig\"In a new interview, LEAVES' EYES vocalist Liv Kristine commented on her former band THEATRE OF TRAGEDY's decision t ocall it quits after 17 years. Liv was fired from the band in 2003 due to personal and creative differences.
“I received an invitation from the guys in Theatre Of Tragedy asking me if I wanted to make a guest appearance in Stavanger (Norway) at their final gig on October 2nd,” Liv reveals. “I’ll be in the States on tour so there’s no way I can do it, which is a pity. My mother is going, though, and I’m still in touch with Raymond (Rohonyi / vocals) and Lorentz (Aspen / keyboards). We’ve talked about what happened between us and, well, it is what it is. You can’t change the past.”
“Without Theatre Of Tragedy I wouldn’t be where I am today. I learned a lot during those years. I founded the band with Raymond when I was 18 and we went on tour when I was 19. It was crazy, and what we learned and experienced in those years was fantastic. We still have all those fans and friends out there. It’s a pity that this chapter of Theatre Of Tragedy is closing now because I think the band still has much more to offer."

Yesterday we played the ProgPower Festival in Atlanta for a awesome audience! Thanks to the fans and the organization for a great experience! We came a long way and we are here to play for the American fans."
"At this moment, the promoters are doing everything possible to keep this tour going on in North America for Leaves' Eyes, and some shows have been confirmed. If you already have a ticket for a Kamelot / Leaves' Eyes / Blackguard show, you can refund where you purchased it and you can get a new discounted ticket for the Leaves' Eyes / Blackguard show! DEF LEPPARD Singer To Launch His Own BeerAccording to RTÉ, DEF LEPPARD singer Joe Elliott will officially launch his own beer in Dublin next week.
Down 'n' Outz, which is named after Elliott's musical side project and is described as "a pilsner style" that has "a deep, rich malt character, with generous hop bitterness," will be launched on on Wednesday, September 15 at The Porterhouse North Rock Garden in Glasnevin.
Brewed and bottled by The Porterhouse, the beer will be available in all Porterhouse bars.
Commented Elliott: "Over the years I've noticed a lot of musicians putting their names to a variety of wines etc which, as nice as a glass of red or white is, well, it's not very rock and roll is it?!
"Beer or lager seem to be the drink of choice at nearly every gig I've ever played or attended so for me it's a much cooler thing to do and having seen how The Porterhouse put quality over quantity, I'm extremely happy to get involved with Oliver [Hughes, Porterhouse MD] and his gang." 3

TAROT - How To Celebrate 25 Years?2011 will mark a quarter century since the release of Finnish metallers TAROT's The Spell Of Iron debut. To commemorate the event, the Hietala brothers plan to re-record said album. Bassist Marco Hietala (who also "moonlights" in NIGHTWISH) jokes that the artwork, where a hand holds a tarot card should be updated as well, to just a skeletal hand, "after all this time, that's all that's left!" At this point in time, they'd like to close out 2011 with a North American tour (their first)! Stay tuned for further developments.
Last April, Tarot's latest album, Gravity Of Light, entered the Finnish charts at #2, the band's highest ever chart position in Finland. 3
