"In June of this year we were fortunate enough to return to Mexico City for three sold-out shows at Foro Sol Stadium and with 155,000 of you there over the three nights, we knew it would be extra special. So we asked our friend Wayne Isham to join us with a film crew and the results of that crazy, magical, most memorable long weekend will be available on DVD and CD starting November 30 as 'Orgullo, Pasion y Gloria: Tres Noches En La Ciudad de Mexico' ('Pride, Passion, and Glory: Three Nights in Mexico City') (cover).

"The DVDs and CDs include songs from all three shows recorded on June 4, 6, and 7. Each show had a unique set list, totaling 34 different songs . . . They're all there on the two DVD set along with interviews with us. Other versions that will be available include one DVD (18 tracks), Blu-ray version of that DVD, a digipack with the DVD and two CDs, and finally the aforementioned deluxe version in a slip case with two DVDs and two CDs. Track listings for each configuration can be seen [below]. In keeping with the local theme, all the credits will be in Spanish (Portuguese for our Brazilian buddies) and will only be available at stores in Latin America. Of course we will also have it in the official Metallica.com store, starting sometime the week of December 7.

"Most areas of Latin America will have the DVD available on November 30. However, if you live in Brazil, check your local music store on December 8 and for fans in Argentina and Chile, 'Orgullo, Pasion y Gloria: Tres Noches En La Ciudad de Mexico' hits the stores on December 10.

Swedish melodic death metal pioneers AT THE GATES will release "The
Flames Of The End", a brand new three-disc DVD set, in February 2010 through Earache Records.

AT THE GATES released its definitive album, "Slaughter Of The Soul" — often regarded as one of the all-time greatest metal albums — on Earache in 1995, before touring the world and abruptly disbanding. Members of the band went on to play major roles in other notorious metal acts such as THE HAUNTED and CRADLE OF FILTH, before reforming for a one-off tour in 2008 to rapturous response.

Now, to celebrate AT THE GATES' massively influential career and historical
reunion tour, the band will be releasing "The Flames Of The End", an extensive, in-depth and definitive three-disc DVD set on February 22, 2010.

Housed in a deluxe six-panel DVD digipak with a 40-page colour booklet, "The Flames Of The End" will include three indispensable DVDs:

** Disc 1: "Under A Serpent Sun - The Story of At The Gates"

A brand new documentary with a running time of over two hours, detailing the band's entire career with exclusive interviews and footage, filmed and directed by

AT THE GATES guitarist Anders Björler comments: "It's now almost two-and-a-half years after the first telephone call to the guys regarding the reunion plans for 2008. Looking back at it today, I am very pleased and happy we pulled it off in the short amount of time and clearing all the planning hurdles with our other bands; THE HAUNTED, DISFEAR, BRUJERIA, NEMHAIN, SLAKATTACK etc.

"I started preparing for the documentary 'Under A Serpent Sun' already in 2007. I got myself a new camera, 'cause the old one gave up on me.

"The downside to my filming plans was actually reliving all the feelings associated with AT THE GATES. I didn't want to miss anything. I talked to fans, journalists, and everybody was just overwhelmed by the whole thing. All of us basically took the time to experience this tour to the fullest extent. We appreciated every second of it, because we knew that in a few months it would all be over. All the troubles of the past were washed away. We were basically enjoying touring again.

"After the reunion tour, I sat down and had a look at all the material we had collected. We had a bunch of stuff filmed from pretty much everywhere we played. The quality was very diverse, but at the same time intriguing, and it gave me the inspiration to continue on the documentary.

"I had made some interviews beforehand with Tomas [Lindberg, vocals], and continued tracking down people with knowledge of the past — Alf, Jesper Jarold from AT THE GATES, and a bunch of people from other bands at the time. We hunted down a few hundred old pictures, old crappy VHS and HI-8 recordings from the rehearsal room, live shows, on the road footage etc... ending up with a 130-minute documentary.

"I want to express gratitude to the people helping us out with old material: photos, videos, stories etc... It wouldn't have been possible without your help!

"The Wacken show was planned ahead as being the #1 show on the upcoming DVD. It captured us at our finest moment, just after the U.S. tour, and it's definitely one of our finest moments. We were blown away of the fact that we actually played for 60,000 people.

"So, enjoy 'The Flames of the End' DVD box set. We have really put our hearts into this release, and it's a fine last document of the band."

LACUNA COIL singer, cover girl, and animal defender Cristina Scabbia has responded to criticism that she is wearing "too many clothes" in her new brand-new public service announcement for peta2, the world's largest youth animal rights organization. In the ad (which can be seen below), Scabbia urges shoppers to seek out only cruelty-free products and appears above the tagline "Animal Testing Breaks Hearts."

Writing on her Facebook page, Cristina states, "AWESOME! Someone criticized the new PETA ad with me... just 'cause I'm wearing TOO MANY clothes ON in it!!!!

"I feel absolutely comfortable with my sexuality and body, but for a serious topic, do I really need to show my skin 'just 'cause?' I don't think so. I created a new trend, though; usually people throw shit and criticize about the opposite!

"Anyway, the PETA ad is about something and someone who's NOT me."

Scabbia, who cowrites an advice column for Revolver magazine, doesn't hesitate to advise against animal testing. "I am only human," she says. "But it feels obvious to me that testing on innocent animals for the sake of our own beauty is absolutely inhumane."

LED ZEPPELIN fan-site Lemon Squeezings is reporting:

While nobody knows what's happening with AEROSMITH, guitarists Joe Perry and Brad Whitford have apparently been keeping busy, and in good company too.

ERIC CLAPTON and Jimmy Page (LED ZEPPELIN) have joined them in recording with engineer Kevin Shirley, the man behind the sound of Led Zeppelin's 21st century releases, How the West Was Won, DVD and the reissue of the soundtrack to The Song Remains The Same.

Shirley says he has been recording these guitarists and "many others." He hints toward some "high profile projects" about which he's been sworn to secrecy.

"Suffice it to say," offers the father of two infants, "that life is very busy."

Writing from Malibu on his online diary today, he spoke of a "supergroup" project - his term, not mine (I don't need the derision). He said that come January he would be "producing what has the promise to be one of the most exciting 'supergroups' to come around in a long time. But theory is just that until we see how the dynamics play out in the studio between these superb musicians. And of course the songs will make the real difference."

Florida metallers TRIVIUM have contributed a new song, entitled "Shattering The Skies Above", to the "God Of War Heavy Metal EP" (Extended Play) which will be included with "God of War III Ultimate Edition", an exclusive collector's pack celebrating the final installment of the award-winning franchise. The EP is described as "a heavy metal homage featuring original music inspired by 'God Of War'." Also scheduled to appear on the EP is DREAM THEATER, among other artists.

TRIVIUM guitarist/vocalist Matt Heafy tells U.K.'s Metal Hammer magazine, "['Shattering The Skies Above'] will come out exclusively on 'God Of War III', it will not be on the next TRIVIUM record, but it is going to give people a really good representation of where we're going with the next record." He adds, "I'm pretty sure we'll be playing it in the U.K. when we're over [in March 2010], so people will be able to hear where we're going. That'll be the only new thing."

Developed by Sony, "God Of War III" is set in the realm of Greek mythology and is a single-player game that allows players to take on the climatic role of the ex-Spartan warrior, Kratos, as he treads through the intimidating heights of Mt. Olympus and the dark depths of hell to seek revenge on those who betrayed him. Armed with double-chained blades, Kratos must take on mythology's darkest creatures while solving intricate puzzles throughout his merciless quest to destroy Olympus.

According to LED ZEPPELIN fan-site Lemon Squeezings, former LED ZEPPELIN frontman ROBERT PLANT was pulled into a Los Angeles recording session recently by famed producer Daniel Lanois, whose credits include some "unforgettable" U2 albums, a solo career and a current band project making waves in that area, BLACK DUB.

Around early October, Plant and Lanois recorded some demos with Black Dub's lead vocalist, Trixie Whitley. At 22, she is a singer-songwriter who plays piano and drums. She has lived in New York and Belgium and has followings in both places.

Best of all, Whitley's Facebook page now confirms Plant as one of the musicians with whom she has worked, along with Vernon Reid (LIVING COLOUR), Me'Shell N'Degeocello and her late father, 'Big Sky Country' singer CHRIS WHITLEY.

A session drummer involved in the recording says he isn't sure what plans Lanois and Plant may have in store. "I honestly don't have too much to say other than we're making some demos," Steven Nistor tells LedZeppelinNews.com.

Nistor is often the go-to guy for whatever drumming needs Lanois has. Among other things, he can be seen backing Lanois during an April 2008 appearance on The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson:

JON OLIVA'S PAIN, the band led by SAVATAGE mastermind Jon Oliva, will release its fourth album, "Festival", on February 19, 2010 via AFM Records. A March/April European tour will be confirmed soon, culminating with the filming of a live DVD consisting of music from the four JON OLIVA'S PAIN CDs and a healthy dose of SAVATAGE classics.

Commented the band: "We are beginning [to mix] the bonus tracks and the ballad today. From there, we will set up the mix template for the meat of the album. This is just a basic working template for the drums, bass and guitars. It'll help us speed up the time needed to put all the remaining instruments, vocals, tricks, trinkets and what-nots in their proper place.

"Needless to say, with more than 100 tracks on many songs the process is still quite exhausting.

"We will have mixes of three songs to digest this weekend. In the end, we will take a final 'review' day to fine-tweak all the songs in preparation for mastering.

"We have focused on every conceivable detail possible while insuring that the mix is raw, alive and full of emotion.

That is simply the magic of having the time and also the support from our record label, AFM. Delivering anything but 110% would be insulting both to ourselves and, of course, you...our most supportive and enthusiastic fans!"

Los Angeles-based technical progressive metallers THE HUMAN ABSTRACT have issued the following update:

San Francisco Bay Area power/thrashers IMAGIKA will release their new album, "Portrait Of A Hanged Man", on March 19, 2010 via Metalville. The CD was recorded at Fang Studios in San Mateo, California by IMAGIKA guitarist Steve Rice and was mixed at KING DIAMOND guitarist Andy La Rocque's Sonic Train Studios in Varberg, Sweden. In addition to mixing the effort, La Rocque makes a guest appearance on the instrumental "A God No More". Drummer Henry Moreno was once again responsible for designing all the art for the CD, which marks the recording debut of new bassist Jim Pegram.

Commented vocalist Norman Skinner: "IMAGIKA never wants to make the same record twice and I feel we have created another standout album we can be proud of. Finnish atmospheric rock/metal band EMBASSY OF SILENCE has completed work on its debut album, "Euphorialight", for a tentative early 2010 release via an as-yet-undetermined record label. The CD was recorded over the summer and fall at the D-studio in Klaukkala, Finland under the supervision of Jarno Hänninen, and was mastered at Sweden's Cutting Room by Björn Engelmann (RAMMSTEIN, DIMMU BORGIR). Guest musicians on the album include Aapo Romu (VANGUARD) on cello, and Andy Koski Semmens (EREPIA, ESOTERIC, PANTHEIST), Juhani Palomäki (COLOSSEUM) and Teppo Tirkkonen (THE PURIFICATION) on vocals.

According to a press release, EMBASSY OF SILENCE is "an ambitious orchestra, assembled together by Tero Kalliomäki (SAATTUE), with the superb vocals of Ines Lukkanen. The themes on the album vary from grim to uplifting, from mournful to enraged and from devious to passionate. Grandeur, ravishing beauty and the ability to surprise are definitely the strengths of EMBASSY OF SILENCE, setting them apart from their competition. Commented Tichy: "It will be fun to get loud and powerful with George [Lynch], Oni [Logan] and Denim as I've always been a fan and I'd be a liar if I was to say I didn't attempt to learn all his rhythms and leads on 'Tooth and Nail' [DOKKEN] in high school when I was 16! C'mon, he was tearing it up! I was obsessed with guitar back then, as I am now, and he was one of the cats... Well, he still is as so many people nowadays were influenced by him.

"George is so cool that he came over my house with a little rig and he, myself and Denim had two days of jammin the tunes in my bedroom turned drum room. There was barely any space but we had a great time. Total high school vibe! I should have gotten a picture."

Finland's AMBERIAN DAWN have issued the following update:

"Preparations for the third Amberian Dawn album are well underway. Tuomas (Seppälä - keyboards, guitar), who composes music for AD, has all the new songs ready and Heidi (Parviainen) has already started writing lyrics. Recordings begin on November 23rd and the first 'victim' is our drummer Joonas (Pykälä-Aho). He has just got his brand new TAMA Starclassic drum kit and it will be interesting to find out how the set sounds in the studio.

The new album is going to be more diverse, faster and darker than our previous albums. The fastest AD songs to date contrast some extremely slow and heavy songs. There's even going to be a classical music piece. Some guest stars are going to featured on this album. Stay tuned for more information."

Los Angeles-based progressive thrash band PROTOTYPE will enter a local studio next week with producer Neil Kernon (CANNIBAL CORPSE, QUEENSRŸCHE, DEICIDE, NILE) to begin recording its as-yet-untitled third album. Returning drummer Pat Magrath will lay down his tracks for the CD with Kernon at the helm, after which PROTOTYPE will head into its own Utopia Studios to complete the recording process. Kernon is also scheduled to mix the album early next year. Songtitles set to appear on the effort — which will be released in 2010 via Nightmare Records — include "Catalyst", "The Chosen Ones", "Cynic Dreams", "The Ageless Heart Of Memory", "Into Oblivion" and "My Own Deception".

"Pentagramnation", the new video from the Los Angeles-based blackened death metal band RISE, can be viewed below. The clip was directed by Robyn VonSwank, produced by Nick Plotquin, and co-produced and edited by Jonathan Sims.

"Pentagramnation" is the title track of RISE's fourth studio album, which was released in the U.S. and Canada on October 13, 2009 via Hymnus Records. The CD was produced, mixed and mastered by legendary guitarist-turned-producer James Murphy (DEATH, OBITUARY, DISINCARNATE) and it features guest appearances by Angela Gossow (ARCH ENEMY), Dave Suzuki (VITAL REMAINS) and James Murphy.

ABRAXAS, the new death metal band featuring Makoto Mizoguchi (PYREXIA, HATE ETERNAL) on guitar and bass, Mike Hrubovcak (MONSTROSITY, VILE) on vocals and Lance Wright (VILE) on drums, will see the release of its debut EP, Wretched Existence, on December 15th via Relapse Records.

The Wretched Existence release features artwork from Drew Elliott (AMORPHIS, NECROPHAGIA) and is currently available for pre-order at this location.

Abraxas are streaming three of the EP’s four tracks online now via the band’s MySpace page.

The band is currently writing for their first proper full-length, due out in 2010. Additional details will be announced soon.

MANOWAR director Neil Johnson — who is responsible for overseeing all of the band's DVDs and music videos — has posted a preview of the packaging of MANOWAR's long-awaited new DVD in the "Hell On Earth" series. Check it out below.

Due on November 27, "Hell On Earth V" will cover MANOWAR's recent world tours including Germany, Norway, Spain, Finland, Russia, Romania, Turkey, USA and Canada. It will feature live performances of old and new classics such as "Gloves Of Metal", "The Crown And The Ring", "Hand Of Doom", "Hymn Of The Immortal Warrior", "Father", "God Or Man" and many others.

Johnson comments: "Picking up where the Earthshaker left off.... 'Hell On Earth V' covers the amazing 'Demons Dragons & Warriors Tour' complete with onstage Vikings and all the craziness that happens behind the scenes of a MANOWAR show.

"I have done my best to show new and classic songs never captured on camera before, including the much-requested 'Mountains' and songs from the new EP, 'Thunder In The Sky'. It will be a step above 'Hell On Earth IV' in quality and spectacle."

"Father", the first song released from MANOWAR's new EP, "Hammer Of The Gods", was recorded in 16 languages and was included as a bonus CD with the band's new EP, "Thunder In The Sky".

Destined to be a collector's item, the tour edition of the EP was made available at all the festivals MANOWAR headlined on the "Death to Infidels Tour!". In addition, the EP is available for sale online in high-quality, DMR-free, MP3 format only at The Kingdom Of Steel online store. The downloadable version of the EP contains the exact same content as the version on sale during the tour.

MANOWAR's new album, "Hammer Of The Gods", which is the first installment of "The Asgard Saga", the band's unique multimedia fantasy adventure with best-selling author Wolfgang Hohlbein, is tentatively in early 2010.
