Quebec’s EMPRESS – “Crawl” Lyric Video StreamingPowerful atmosphere and soaring vocals: Quebec's Empress is quickly becoming a new standard in female-fronted metal. Mixing heavy, modern melodies with authentic, relatable lyrics, Empress combines Eddy Levitsky’s (Hollow) original music with Karina Charbonnier’s unique vocal talent to create a distinctive approach to melodic metal.
Spearheaded by the desire of the imperious Karina Charbonnier to write her own music and lyrics along with her powerful, melancholic soprano voice, Empress was brought to life by working with celebrated guest talents from the Quebec metal scene such as Tommy Mckinnon (ex-Augury), Fred Riverin (I Legion), and Sebastien Ladouceur (Our Darkest Days).
Mostly an online project, Empress’ focus is sharing their love of making music with the world. Their second single "Crawl" is now ready to be revealed to follow their 2017 debut track "Your Prize" (available for free download here). "Crawl" is a track that has post-rock influences and a solid metal foundation to be catchy, heavy and ethereal. The song combines Karina Charbonnier's powerful vocals with modern guitar work and even a touch of progressive elements to create a well-rounded, original song that is sure to please any fan of melodic metal.
Karina comments:
"‘Crawl’ is for those who go through hard times and are searching for a way to regain strength. So basically, this song touches everyone, we all go through rough patches at different times in our life! I hope that Crawl makes people realize that they’re not alone, that it motivates them to first accept their difficulties and then, help overcome them."

ARES KINGDOM - By The Light Of Their Destruction Due Spring 2019Kansas City’s death metal veterans Ares Kingdom have returned to their own Very Metal Sound studio to record their fourth full length album, By The Light Of Their Destruction for NWN Productions – the band’s label home since 2004.
Following up 2015's First World War-themed album The Unburiable Dead - an album recognized by the National World War I Museum in the USA - By The Light Of Their Destruction brings a new focus for Ares Kingdom’s sound on an altogether darker, heavier, and more obscure trajectory.
What was the inspiration behind the pivot to darkness? Guitarist and songwriter Chuck Keller explained: “I was a bit worried about a direction for AK after finishing writing The Unburiable Dead, but one day during the summer of 2015, I was going through my Vulpecula archive and found a few forgotten and unused ideas I had been outlining before we ended the band in 1999. They reawakened the old Vulpecula fire in me and I knew it was time to go back to darkness and obscurity.”
“Fourth albums are often more technical and noodling than an ordinary band’s older records and so are notoriously lacking original fire and fury. Rarely does a band in our position purposely make their approach more primitive, but for us it was the natural thing to do,” said bassist / vocalist Alex Blume.
Drummer Mike Miller echoed, “While the new songs and our production style still sound like Ares Kingdom, our focus during rehearsals was on the primal power of the songs. It’s easily the heaviest material we’ve ever come up with.”
By The Light Of Their Destruction is slated for release in spring 2019 on LP, CD, PD, MC, and digital formats.

EROSION Featuring Members Of BAPTISTS, 3 INCHES OF BLOOD To Release Maximum Suffering Album In October; "Human Error" Track StreamingThe world might have heard of Erosion a little sooner if the members weren’t busy sharing duties in a handful of other projects. Guitarist Nick Yacyshyn, drummer Danny Marshall, and bassist Andrew Drury are more widely known for their work in Vancouver’s beloved hardcore veterans Baptists. Rick O’Dell was snagged from his bass duties with sludgy classic rockers Tobeatic and punk rippers Hard Feelings to join Erosion on second guitar while vocalist Jamie Hooper was recruited for the vitriol he unleashed with the triumphant metal export 3 Inches Of Blood and the grimy punk band Congress.
Given their pedigree, it’s no small wonder that their debut full-length, Maximum Suffering (out October 19th on Hydra Head) exudes the kind of ugliness that only comes from artists steeped in the art of musical ferocity.
Maximum Suffering is Erosion’s first release since 2013’s Kill Us All cassette EP. Self-described as a “cathartic audio expulsion of our collective contempt for humanity,” Maximum Suffering combines the reductionist brutalism of early grind outfits, the blazing tempos of classic d-beat hardcore, and the warped stomp-and-crush riffage of modern death metal’s most nefarious troglodytes. On songs like “Human Error” (listen below), the band takes the punishing lurch-and-mangle of classic powerviolence acts and ramps it up with adroit musicianship and meaty, blown-out tones.
Hydra Head Records is proud to unleash Erosion upon the world with digital formats and a vinyl edition of Maximum Suffering on October 19the. Pre-orders are available now and more songs will surface soon.
Maximum Suffering tracklisting:
"Maximum Suffering"
"Everything Is F***ed"
"Need For Death"
"Human Error"
"Serpent Lust"
"The Crone"
"Deep In Hell"
"We Have Failed Us"
"Scorched Earth"

HELIX To Release New Album In 2019 - "I Have Already Written One Song With SEAN KELLY That's A Real Rocker," Says BRIAN VOLLMER; VideoJimmy Kay from Canada's The Metal Voice spoke to Brian Vollmer, lead singer of Helix, at Heavy Montreal 2018 on July 29TH. Vollmer spoke about being a vocal instructor, working on Helix's new album, his thoughts on Lemmy, and more. Watch below.
About the upcoming new album by Helix and the Icon series to be released by Universal, Vollmer reveals: "Capital EMI was bought out by Universal and Universal is releasing albums from bands that were on the Capital label that sold substantial amount of units. Universal is releasing the Helix Icon series with limited run of vinyl, probably 500 units.
"In regards to a new album, we are planning on getting the writing done this fall, probably out next year 2019. I have already written one song with Sean Kelly that's a real rocker and it started off as a 7 minute rap that I wrote down in Florida called "The Helix Story", it just tells the story of Helix. We recorded the rap in the studio and now we are putting on the sound effects, that rap will then roll into the hard rock songI wrote with Sean Kelly."
His thoughts on Lemmy: "Lemmy was a great guy and unlike a lot of other people in the business he was totally unique, what you saw is what you got and I think that's why people loved the guy so much."

GENE SIMMONS To Release 27: The Legend And Mythology Of The 27 Club Book In OctoberThe hardcover edition of KISS singer/bassist Gene Simmons' new book, 27: The Legend And Mythology Of The 27 Club, will be released on October 2nd via Power House Books.
A description of the inaugural release of the new Simmons Books series follows:
The summer of 1969 was a momentous one in modern history. It was a season punctuated with change. Apollo 11 landed on the moon, thousands of young fans flocked to rock ‘n’ roll festivals like Woodstock and the controversial Altamont Freeway concert, the Manson Family cult were on a high-profile killing spree, and the first uprisings that would become the Stonewall Riots began. It was an electric summer of violent endings, new beginnings, and social unrest.
It was also the summer that a myth was born–beginning with the tragic, untimely death of Rolling Stones founder, Brian Jones. The world soon lost two more huge music stars: Janis Joplin and Jimi Hendrix. Not only did losing these three beacons of music culture seem to signal the end of a musical era, it also felt like a foreboding sign; they had all died at exactly the same age. All three had lost their lives at the pinnacle of their creative output, and all three were exactly 27 years old.
People have speculated that there could be a dastardly lineage, from the poisoning of blues pioneer Robert Johnson in 1938, through these icons of the 60s, and more recently to rebel chanteuse Amy Winehouse’s death from alcohol poisoning in 2011. Could it be a twisted fate that the world’s very best creative souls come to early, often violent, deaths at just 27 years old? Over time, this idea began to be known as, “the 27 club,” and it has persisted in the public imagination.
In 27: The Legend & Mythology Of The 27 Club, rock ‘n’ roll icon Gene Simmons takes a deep dive into the life stories of these legendary figures, without giving credence to the romanticized idea that being in the “club” is somehow a perverse privilege. Simmons wills us to acknowledge the extraordinary lives, not the sensational deaths, of the musicians and artists who left an indelible mark on the world.

Surviving HELLYEAH Members Shoot Down New Drummer ClaimThe surviving members of HELLYEAH have shot down as false rumors that they have recruited Daniel Davison as the replacement for their late drummer Vinnie Paul Abbott.
After someone edited the band's Wikipedia page to say that the former EVERY TIME I DIE and NORMA JEAN drummer has joined HELLYEAH following Vinnie Paul's death last month, the members of the Chad Gray-fronted group took to their Twitter account to deny the claim, writing "ABSOLUTE FAKE NEWS." They attached a screenshot of the entry, circling Davison's name and writing "WTF?"
In late June, Gray released a statement on the death of Vinnie Paul, saying that dealing with his passing "has been one of the toughest things I've ever had to face in my life. I'm so confused, sad and as helpless as I've ever been," he said. "I'm at a loss and completely devastated. But I'm trying. It's the equivalent of an emotional riot in my head and in my heart as I write this. But I'm trying to focus on anything good. I know Vinnie would want that. And the good things are my memories of him. His smile, his infectious laugh and his personality that beamed light."
Gray added: "I just want to say, thank you, Vinnie Paul! For saving my life, for your music, for your endless generosity, for accepting me into your life, for creating our music that touched people, for being proud to be in HELLYEAH and for always treating me like a brother and more importantly for treating me like a friend... I will always love you and go to the end of the earth to carry the torch for you and Dime's legacy."
Abbott's brother, guitarist "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott, was shot to death in December 2004 while performing onstage. The Abbotts founded the bands PANTERA and DAMAGEPLAN together. After Dimebag's death, Abbott joined Gray and other members of MUDVAYNE and NOTHINGFACE in HELLYEAH, which has released five albums.
HELLYEAH's fifth album, "Unden!able", came out in 2016.
Not long before his death, Vinnie laid down the drum tracks for HELLYEAH's sixth album. It is not presently clear when those recordings will see the light of day.

X JAPAN's YOSHIKI Joins SKRILLEX On Stage At Japan's FUJI ROCK FESTIVALThis past Saturday (July 28), X JAPAN leader Yoshiki made a surprise appearance on stage with DJ and producer Skrillex at one of Japan's biggest outdoor music events, Fuji Rock Festival '18, held at Naeba Ski Resort in Niigata, Japan.
The 40,000 fans at the main stage were shocked by Yoshiki's arrival, but soon began cheering and shouting for the unexpected collaboration between two globally famous artists. As Skrillex played a special mix he created for Yoshiki, Yoshiki began to perform X JAPAN's "Endless Rain" on a crystal piano. At the otherworldly intro, loud cheers shook the venue, and the voices of tens of thousands of fans sang the song's famous chorus while Yoshiki played accompanied by Skrillex's guitar.
Yoshiki then moved to his drum set for one of Skrillex's top hits, "Scary Monsters And Nice Sprites", creating an amazing fusion of classical and rock music with EDM. Yoshiki shared his thanks with the audience: "Thank you, Skrillex! Thank you, everyone here! You all are awesome!" Skrillex responded in Japanese "Domo arigato! (Thank you so much!)", gaining further applause from the audience. Fans continued chanting "We are… X!" long after Yoshiki left the stage.
Yoshiki and Skrillex, a multiple Grammy Award winner who is counted among the top 10 "DJ Mag Top 100 DJs," became fast friends when Skrillex visited Yoshiki's L.A. studio several months ago and pitched the surprise collaboration. Yoshiki accepted enthusiastically and made last-minute changes to his recording schedule for the forthcoming X JAPAN album to return to Japan for the Fuji Rock Festival appearance.
After his performance, Yoshiki appeared on Yoshiki Channel to talk about the event. "It was so satisfying," he said. "The fans were warm, and I was touched to hear everyone. The audience was wonderful." Skrillex also joined the Yoshiki Channel broadcast and revealed the reason for choosing "Endless Rain". "I've visited Japan a few times, but this was the first song I sang here," he said. The pair talked further about being artistic comrades from different genres who mutually inspire each other. "Like hip-hop expanded through collaborations," said Yoshiki, "I want to expand as well and contribute to the revival of rock in this world." 1

OBITUARY Drummer DONALD TARDY Sitting Out European Tour Dates; MONSTROSITY's LEE HARRISON Steps InFlorida death metallers OBITUARY have recruited drummer Lee Harrison (MONSTROSITY) to sit behind the kit for some of their shows in Europe after the band's regular drummer, Donald Tardy, was unable to make the dates.
Harrison took to his Facebook page earlier today to write: "So tonight will be my fourth show (temporarily) playing drums for the mighty OBITUARY.
"Donald had some things going on at home that he needed to be there for. I'm honored he called me to fill in, but it was also pretty stressful having to learn the set in such a short time (three days notice).
"Wishing Donald all the best and he will be back to his spot after this run, so don't worry. I'm just glad I could be there for him and somewhat pull this off.
"I've got three more shows to do and things will be back to normal for me. Tonight we rock Krakow, Poland!!! Come out if you can!"
Fan-filmed video footage of OBITUARY's July 28 performance in Wroclaw, Poland — featuring Harrison on drums — can be seen below.
Donald said in a recent interview with the "Mosh Mag" podcast that OBITUARY is in no rush to return to the studio to begin work on the follow-up to last year's self-titled effort. "We are super happy with what's going on right now," he said. "We're supporting this new album. It's probably the best album we've ever written. We know 'Slowly We Rot', 'Cause Of Death' and 'The End Complete' are the albums that people will always remember OBITUARY [by], and we're cool with that; we're very proud of those albums. But 30 years into it, to still write an album that's still that relevant, we're super proud of the songs; the production fits it perfectly. So we're gonna support this album. We're gonna see every corner of the planet, 'cause fans wanna see OBITUARY, and we're gonna stay busy and do what we do."
He continued: "We're always thinking about new songs and writing riffs and this and that. But at this time of our lives and this time of the music industry… This new album has only been out for just over a year now, so we're in no hurry to try and push another album out of us as quick as we can; there's no sense.
"I'm a believer in when an album is a favorite album of a fan, they're gonna listen to that thing again and again and really worship it," he added. "I mean, [DIO's] 'Holy Diver' album is how old? It's 20-something years old, and I still listen to 'Holy Diver' almost every day of my life, so it's not, like, 'Oh, after two years, you need a new album.' I think metal fans understand that. And OBITUARY's catered to a live show. It's fun doing albums, and you get proud for making songs and making albums, but there's nothing more awesome than live shows and seeing the fans come out and giving them what they want, which is just a kick-ass show and having a good time."
After parting ways with Roadrunner following the release of 2005's "Frozen In Time", OBITUARY released two albums via Candlelight Records — 2007's "Xecutioner's Return" and 2009's "Darkest Day" — before signing with Relapse Records in 2014.
OBITUARY's second Relapse release — the aforementioned self-titled tenth studio album — came out in March 2017. 2

Former GUNS N' ROSES Guitarist DJ ASHBA Arrested For DUIAccording to TMZ, former GUNS N' ROSES guitarist DJ Ashba has been arrested on suspicion of driving drunk.
The 45-year-old musician, who was also involved with Nikki Sixx's SIXX: A.M. project, was pulled over on Friday, July 27 in Fairbury, Illinois for failing to stop at a stop sign. Since the guitarist allegedly showed signs of impairment, officers gave him field sobriety tests, which he apparently failed, so he was arrested and taken to jail.
A mug shot of the guitarist, whose real name is Darren Jay Ashba, can be seen below.
Ashba, who lives in Las Vegas, was raised in Fairbury, where he returned over the weekend to attend the 29th running of the Prairie Dirt Classic at Fairbury American Legion Speedway. He also reportedly performed the U.S. national anthem at the event.
Ashba took to his Facebook page on Sunday (July 29) to write: "It was so nice to chill back home for a few and reset. Thank you to everyone in my hometown of Fairbury for having me out to perform the National Anthem for ya'll. It was an honor!"
DJ joined GUNS N' ROSES in March 2009 following the departure of Robin Finck. He exited the group six years later, saying in a statement that he was leaving GUNS N' ROSES "to dedicate myself to my band SIXX: A.M., my adoring wife and family, and to the many new adventures that the future holds for me."
Earlier this year, Ashba and his SIXX:A.M. bandmate James Michael launched a brand new project called PYROMANTIC. The duo is putting the finishing touches on an album's worth of music.
Sixx has hinted in recent interviews that SIXX:A.M. was over, explaining that he was planning on pursuing a number of different projects in 2018, none of which involve playing in a group.

ALICE COOPER Guitarist RYAN ROXIE Releases 'Me Generation' Lyric VideoThe official lyric video for "Me Generation" from Ryan Roxie can be seen below. The song is taken from his new solo album, "Imagine Your Reality", which was released on May 25 via Cargo Records UK. The vocalist, guitarist and songwriter, who is best known as Alice Cooper's longtime lead guitarist and collaborator, has also worked with Slash and Gilby Clarke and been a member of Classic Rock award-nominated band CASABLANCA.
"Imagine Your Reality" is Ryan's first official solo release and sees him joined by other noteworthy musicians, including a collaboration with CHEAP TRICK's Robin Zander on the track "California Man".
"Imagine Your Reality" continues Roxie's legacy of creating infectiously melodic songs and straight-ahead, no-nonsense rock riffs, and this time with more guitar than ever before. Ten tracks, all underlined by ten gleaming guitar solos. From the punk rock undertones of "Never Mind Me" to the un-sugarcoated tale of life in "La La Land (To Live And Die In LA)" to the superb BEATLES-y/OASIS nod "Look Me In The Eye" — it's an uplifting big rock sound. Zander transforms "California Man" into the ultimate vintage-vibed, top-down, drive-in-the-sunshine rock 'n' roll anthem.
Ryan said: "CHEAP TRICK were a major influence in my musical upbringing. Both Robin Zander and Rick Nielsen have joined us onstage at Alice Cooper shows in the past and have always been the most quintessential rock stars. In my opinion, Robin Zander's voice is the definition of rock 'n' roll, so having him guest vocal on 'California Man' definitely ticks a box off my 'greatest moments in rock 'n roll' list."
Asked by AntiHero if the songs on "Imagine Your Reality" are all brand new or if they were created using ideas that were collected over the course of several years, Ryan said: "Let's put it this way: everything was put together in the last year as far as getting the final songs done. When it comes to the inspiration, some of the riffs and some of maybe the vocal title tracks, some of those go back a few years. One of the riff rock tracks that we have called 'To Live And Die in L.A.', I had that title sort of bopping around in my head since the '90s. It was actually one of those weird L.A. detective movies — it was the title of a movie, and I thought, 'That title is too cool to be in just a movie. I'm going to make it a song as well.' When you listen to the actual riff, you can actually hear a bit of maybe there are a little bit of the bands I was playing around with during that time in the '90s influence in there. During that time, I was playing with Alice Cooper in the 'Brutal Planet' era as well as SLASH'S SNAKEPIT."
"Imagine Your Reality" track listing:
01. Big Rock Show
02. Over And Done
03. California Man
04. To Live And Die In L.A.
05. Uh Oh Song
06. Me Generation
07. Look Me In The Eye
08. Hearts In Trouble
09. Nevermind Me
10. God Put A Smile Upon Your Face
"Image Your Reality" was produced by Kristoffer "Folle" Folin, Tommy Henriksen and Jon Bordon. It was recorded and mixed at Purple Skull Studios in Stockholm, Sweden.
Says Roxie: "With this album, I think we kept the spirit and power of the 3.5-minute rock song intact as well as keeping the dream of guitar-driven music alive and well. I can't wait for people to experience my reality."
Recording lineup:
* Ryan Roxie - Guitars, Vocals
* Tommy Henriksen - Bass on tracks 1, 6, 9

Watch HALESTORM's LZZY HALE And JOE HOTTINGER Perform Acoustic Version Of 'Vicious' Title Track At BANDIT ROCK StudiosVideo footage of HALESTORM frontwoman Lzzy Hale and guitarist Joe Hottinger performing acoustic versions of the songs "Vicious" and "Amen" live at the studios of Sweden's Bandit Rock radio station can be seen below.
HALESTORM's fourth album, "Vicious", was released on July 27 via Atlantic. The disc was recorded last year at Nashville, Tennesse's Rock Falcon studio with Nick Raskulinecz, an acclaimed producer who has previously worked with RUSH, KORN, ALICE IN CHAINS and DEFTONES, in addition to having produced HALESTORM's third covers EP, "ReAniMate 3.0: The CoVeRs eP", which came out in January 2017.
Lzzy told Boston radio station WAAF about the band's new album: "I feel like this is the most… Every record, we try to kind of get it closer and closer to what people see every day live. And I really think that this is the most HALESTORM record that you're gonna hear from us as of yet."
Hottinger told the SiriusXM show "Trunk Nation" that the band's follow-up to 2015's "Into The Wild Life" would contain some of "the heaviest stuff we've ever done."
"Into The Wild Life" was criticized by some HALESTORM fans for veering too far into pop music territory.
HALESTORM and IN THIS MOMENT recently announced the third leg of their all-female fronted tour, with NEW YEARS DAY supporting.
The new dates begin November 16 in Norfolk, Virginia and run through December 16, wrapping in St. Petersburg, Florida.

DEVIN TOWNSEND Announces 'ERAS' Vinyl Collection Part 2Devin Townsend has announced the release of the second part of the "ERAS" vinyl collection for release on August 31. This set includes the much-sought-after albums "Ocean Machine", "Physicist", "Terria", "Synchestra" and "Infinity", all in gatefold sleeves across eight pieces of vinyl, contained inside a sturdy two-piece box with an extensive LP booklet containing liner notes and comments from Devin himself. All the albums have been mastered for vinyl for the optimal listening experience.
You can pre-order the collection now here.
Devin comments: "It has been over 25 years since I started this professional trip of mine with music as the anchor. In that time, I have spent a fair amount of energy describing the albums, rationalizing the albums, or just trying to basically explain the motivation behind them all. This 'ERAS' box set series is a kind of monumental way for me to do it at one time, in one place.
"The intent of these albums from the beginning has not changed. Music has been the outlet to describe my experience with life, and obviously my experience is far from 'unique.' I like to think all this music describes my point of view on things we all participate in. Life is crazy, and each step of the way offers new things, births, deaths, failures, successes, heartache, confusion, anger etc. etc. etc. I don't have it figured out, but the music has helped me deal with it in my own way.
"The albums were just snapshots of different periods in my life, and although it's just music, they mean a lot to me. The process that drew them out has helped me move on to each consecutive project and my hope is that with these boxsets, it makes what I do in the future make a little more sense.
"I really appreciate having the opportunity to present them in one place with such attention to detail. It’s such an honour to be able to do this and I thank everyone involved for the support and passion in making these box sets happen."
On September 22, 2017, DEVIN TOWNSEND PROJECT played a special show at the Ancient Roman Theatre in Plovdiv, Bulgaria, celebrating the 20th anniversary of Devin's landmark "Ocean Machine" album in full, as well as a set of fan-requested tracks alongside the Orchestra of Plovdiv State Opera. This concert was filmed, and on July 6, it saw the light of day as "Ocean Machine - Live at the Ancient Roman Theatre Plovdiv".
DEVIN TOWNSEND PROJECT released the much-acclaimed "Transcendence" in late 2016, before embarking on one of its biggest world tours ever. This new live release marks the end of an era, as DEVIN TOWNSEND PROJECT was disbanded in early 2018 to pave the way for Devin to focus on numerous other creative, musical endeavors of which he is currently hard at work on.

AEROSMITH's JOE PERRY Releases Music Video For 'Aye, Aye, Aye'Joe Perry — legendary guitarist, co-founding member, principal songwriter and co-producer of AEROSMITH — has just released the new video for "Aye, Aye, Aye", the first single from his "Sweetzerland Manifesto" album. The clip can be viewed below.
Filmed earlier this year at The Roxy Theatre in West Hollywood, California, the video (and track) features guest vocalist Robin Zander (CHEAP TRICK) along with an all-star band including guitarist Dean DeLeo and bassist Robert DeLeo (STONE TEMPLE PILOTS), Buck Johnson (keyboards/vocals, AEROSMITH) and David Goodstein (drums) The night also featured guest appearances by Slash, Johnny Depp, Gary Cherone (EXTREME, VAN HALEN) who handled vocals for the bulk of the show, with other guest vocalists Terry Reid, David Johansen and Chris Robinson.
"I had just finished writing my autobiography 'Rocks' with David Ritz so we'd been based in L.A.," Joe says about how "Sweetzerland Manifesto" came together. "My friend and future bandmate Johnny [Depp] offered the use of his studio to record my new solo record. Later that week, I went to his studio to talk about the record and the possibly about it being an instrumental CD. Ironically, that night we recorded 'Eve Of Destruction' with Johnny on drums. Even though it was big hit in the sixties, I felt with everything going on in the world today that this song was more than relevant than ever especially since the Atomic Clock had just been moved even closer to midnight."
"'Aye, Aye, Aye' was the only song written from the ground up for this CD," Joe continues. "All the other tracks I had written before the vocalists heard them. Robin had a chorus that he sang to me over the phone and he said, 'This sounds like a riff that could be right up your alley.' When Robin walked into the studio singing 'Aye, Aye, Aye,' I said, 'What is a good key for you?' He said, 'The Aye, Aye, Aye key.' [Laughs] By that night, we had a demo of the song finished. Later I found out it was inspired by my love for my custom Gibson Billie guitar which has my wife's picture on it (painted by John Douglas).
"The only requirement or pressure behind this album was all the songs had to be fun to play live," Perry says. "And after having the chance to perform 'Aye, Aye, Aye' with Robin live, I have to say it hits the mark. Little did I know it would be one of my favorite songs on the CD."
Released earlier this year on Perry's own Roman Records imprint (distributed worldwide by AMPED Distribution), "Sweetzerland Manifesto" marks Joe's sixth solo album and is comprised of 10 new tracks. They were all written or co-written by Joe (many with the album's guest vocalists), except for a cover of "Eve Of Destruction", with Joe on lead vocals and Depp on drums. The album features guest appearances from a long list of Joe's friends, colleagues and rock and roll icons. Highlights include three collaborations with David Johansen, who sings "I Wanna Roll", "Haberdasher Blues" and "I'm Going Crazy", plus as many co-writes with Terry Reid, whose lead vocals light up "I'll Do Happiness" (with Zak Starkey on drums), "Sick & Tired" and "Won't Let Me Go".

STATUS QUO: 'In The Army Now' Performance Clip From 'Down Down & Dirty At Wacken'STATUS QUO will release a pair of "twin" live albums, "Down Down & Dignified At The Royal Albert Hall" and "Down Down & Dirty At Wacken", on August 17 through earMUSIC. These releases capture the legendary band delivering two sets, each full of hits, energy and passion, while each offering a radically different tone and style of delivery.
A performance clip of the song "In The Army Now", taken from "Down Down & Dirty At Wacken", can be seen below.
Francis Rossi said: "There's no other venue like the Royal Albert Hall; every artist wants to play there. So, to bring our 'Aquostic' show there was a dream come true. The QUO classics were stripped back and delivered by the band in a new fresh way that really allows the melodies to shine. Fully acoustic and featuring some fantastic extra musicians and vocalists, this is a show we'll always be proud of."
He continued: "Wacken is like no other festival. The energy, the crowd, the volume. Where better for QUO to get down and dirty and crank out all of the QUO classics as loud as possible? Naturally, this was a full electric set, delivered at full throttle. Nothing else would be acceptable at Wacken! It's full-blooded performances like this that QUO's reputation is built on."
STATUS QUO have sold more than 118 million records, received countless gold awards and top 10 singles, played over 6000 shows together and spent 23 years away from home on tour to rock around the world. The lineup for both these shows, recorded last year, features Francis Rossi, Andrew Bown, John "Rhino" Edwards, Leon Cave and Richie Malone.
"Down Down & Dignified At The Royal Albert Hall" and "Down Down & Dirty At Wacken" demonstrate both the evergreen quality of the timeless QUO catalogue, the sheer musicianship and stagecraft required to deliver those hits, and the versatility of the band.
Who else but QUO could deliver the stunning sets captured on these twin releases of such wildly differing style and be equally happy taking to the stage at the venerable Royal Albert Hall and in the midst of the Wacken wildness?

SAMMY HAGAR Offers First Taste Of Upcoming THE CIRCLE AlbumSammy Hagar has uploaded a short clip of him listening to a song from the upcoming first album of all-original material from THE CIRCLE, his critically acclaimed supergroup also featuring Michael Anthony, Jason Bonham and Vic Johnson,
The former VAN HALEN frontman used used the hashtag "#lastsongonrecord" in the Instagram post previewing the track, suggesting that the tune in question is the album closer.
Bonham told Sonic Perspectives in a recent interview that THE CIRCLE's upcoming disc is a "concept kind of album" that needs to be listened to "in a specific order, which kind of tells the story."
The drummer added that Hagar has "been really inspired as of late, and I think it's gonna be some of his best stuff. It's definitely diverse," he said. "As I said, when you listen to it in the order… It's gonna be an incredible… What he wanted to do was do something very different than he's ever done, which is send you on a journey, like the old days. When you put on an album, you listened to it from start to finish instead of just a song — where the placement of each [song] is vital for it to make sense."
THE CIRCLE released a concert album, "At Your Service", in May 2015. Recorded on tour in 2014, it features live performances of hits from Sammy's four decades of rock (MONTROSE, solo, VAN HALEN, THE WABORITAS, CHICKENFOOT) as well as classic tracks from the LED ZEPPELIN catalog.

WESTFIELD MASSACRE To Release 'Famine' Single This WeekWESTFIELD MASSACRE, which features in its ranks singer Seann Nicols (a.k.a. Sheldon Tarsha; formerly of Bobby Blotzer's RATT, ADLER'S APPETITE and QUIET RIOT) will release a new single, "Famine", on August 3. The track, which is taken from the band's forthcoming full-length album, will be accompanied by a brand new music video directed by Ron Underwood.
Nicols took over as the lead vocalist for WESTFIELD MASSACRE in June 2017 when the band parted ways with Tommy Vext, who currently sings for BAD WOLVES.
WESTFIELD MASSACRE has a sound that can be described as a bridge between modern American and European metal. With aggressive growls, high, soaring vocal melodies, impossibly fast drums, classically inspired passages and harmonized guitar leads, WESTFIELD MASSACRE aims to make its modern metal accessible to fans of all music genres.
"Famine" will be available on iTunes, Apple Music, Amazon, Spotify, and other digital outlets.
WESTFIELD MASSACRE's self-titled debut album was released in April 2016 via Urban Yeti Records. The CD was recorded at Echelon Studios with producer Joseph McQueen.

IRON MAIDEN Performs In Krakow, Poland (Video)Fan-filmed video footage of IRON MAIDEN's July 27 performance at Tauron Arena in Krakow, Poland can be seen below.
IRON MAIDEN has been opening its concerts on the current trek with "Aces High" and continuing with "Where Eagles Dare". Other notable tracks aired during the set include the Blaze Bayley-era classics "The Clansman" and "Sign Of The Cross", as well as three additional songs that are being performed for the first time in years: "For The Greater Good Of God", "The Wicker Man" and "Flight Of Icarus".
This past March, IRON MAIDEN singer Bruce Dickinson said in an interview that there will be "one or two things" in the "Legacy Of The Beast" setlist "that people are gonna be really surprised by" and predicted that "there'll be social media madness after the first show."
The concept for the "Legacy Of The Beast" tour was inspired by MAIDEN's mobile game and comic book of the same name and the stage set design features a number of different but interlocking "worlds" with a setlist covering a large selection of 1980s material with a handful of surprises from later albums to add diversity.
The U.K. leg of IRON MAIDEN's "Legacy Of The Beast" tour kicks off in Newcastle on Tuesday, July 31.
Since the tour's opening night in Tallinn, Estonia at the end of May, the band has already played to around 750,000 fans in sold-out stadium, arena and festival shows across Europe, including selling out the prestigious Atletico Madrid football stadium in Spain.
MAIDEN's "The Book Of Souls" world tour kicked off in early 2016 and hit North America last year. The band's Mayan-themed set saw Eddie, MAIDEN's omnipresent mascot, having his heart torn out of his chest by singer Bruce Dickinson, who threw the heart into the crowd.
"The Book Of Souls" is MAIDEN's first ever double studio album and their most successful chart-wise to date, debuting at the No. 1 spot in over 40 countries around the world and No. 4 in the U.S.A. 5

SOEN Feat. Ex-OPETH Drummer MARTIN LOPEZ: 'Lykaia' To Be Reissued With Bonus Tracks"Lykaia", the third album from SOEN, the progressive heavy rock group featuring world-renowned drummer Martin Lopez (formerly of AMON AMARTH and OPETH), will be reissued this autumn via Silver Lining Music. Titled "Lykaia Revisited", the offering features live tracks from the band's 2017 European tour, updated artwork by Paul Tippett, and is enriched by everything the progressive metal unit experienced while performing songs from the album on the road.
"The tour was great, and when you have the chance to play songs live night after night, they take on another perspective," says Lopez, "and on reflection, we all felt that 'Lykaia' could greatly benefit from being remastered; that there were improvements which could be made that would seal the 'Lykaia' era perfectly."
Celebrating the tour's success, fans purchasing physical product will enjoy "Sectarian" from the RCA Club in Lisbon and "Lucidity" from the Largo Venue in Rome. Those opting for the digital format will hear "Jinn", also from the RCA Club in Lisbon.
Paul Tippett's updated artwork also comes as a result of allowing a great concept to produce a further angle.
"Again, we just felt we could improve and realize another version of the art," says Lopez, "and the great thing about this version is that it has a very 'iconic-logo' feel, taking the main element of the first sleeve and giving it a more emblematic perspective and serving as a great visual way to close the 'Lykaia' chapter of SOEN."
"Lykaia Revisited" was mastered by Gentry Studer at Epic Mastering, and is expected to hit the streets worldwide on September 14. Preorders are currently available at this location.
"Lykaia Revisited" track listing:

Canadian Multi-Instrumentalist ROBB FINLAYSON Launches New Progressive Project SKYE ASYLUMCanadian multi-instrumentalist Robb Finlayson, who recently released his debut album Winter's Apprentice, has issued the following update:
"I will be starting a new solo project that will solely focus on progressive music. I have so many songs written that fit the genre so it makes sense to create a new name....Skye Asylum. Look for a debut release late 2019."
Finlayson is currently working on new material. He has unveiled the cover art for his next outing - presumably not meant for Skye Asylum - and released a new demo.
Finlayson: "This is a rough demo of a song called 'Hope' that I wrote for my upcoming album. I wanted to close the record out with a song that is meant to inspire, and to express the importance of having hope. It’s a longer song coming in at 7 minutes and will have a full symphony throughout and a choir between 4:31 and 5:05. Of all the songs I have written, I think this one means the most. Can’t wait to get this one 100% finished."

ANGEL's Catalogue Celebrated With Multi-Disc Box The Casablanca YearsCaroline/UMe are set to issue an extensive, seven-disc box set celebrating legendary, Washington DC-bred glam/rock outfit Angel. Entitled Angel: The Casablanca Years, the band-approved box is due for release on August 31st.
This box set features the six albums Angel released on Neil Bogart"s legendary Casablanca Records label, in addition to a seventh disc that contains mono mixes, single edits, soundtrack contributions, and other rarities. Angel expert Dave Reynolds contributes insightful liner notes to the box set"s included 28-page booklet, which also features rare photos and other memorabilia.
Angel was discovered in a nightclub by none other than Gene Simmons of KISS, a man who had (and still has) a knack for finding and nurturing talent. Angel was also known for their androgynous look and dressing all in white, a pure yin-yang contrast to KISS" own all-black clothing and elaborate stage outfits. In 1975, the glam-rockers were signed to the home label for KISS, Casablanca Records, ultimately releasing six albums (five studio, one live) uninterrupted between 1975-80 that mixed the best elements of glam, hard rock, and pure unadulterated fist-pumping melodic singalongs.
While Angel never quite achieved success as their labelmates Kiss did, they left their mark on in-the-know rock fans of the era with tracks like the hard-driving "Rock & Rollers," "Tower," the perennial holiday favorite "The Winter Song," and their key contribution to the soundtrack of the Jodie Foster-starring 1980 teen drama Foxes, 20th Century Foxes. The line-up for their self-titled 1975 debut Angel consisted of guitarist Punky Meadows, bassist Mickie Jones, vocalist Frank DiMino, keyboardist Gregg Giuffria, and drummer Barry Brandt. This line-up recorded two more albums, 1976"s Helluva Band and 1977"s On Earth As It Is In Heaven, after which Jones would be replaced on bass by Felix Robinson. Two more studio efforts, 1978"s White Hot and 1979"s Sinful, ensued before the release of a much-acclaimed live set, 1980"s Live Without A Net.
Though Angel took a break during most of the 1980s, the cult-favorite collective reformed in 1998. With a revised lineup under the direction of vocalist Frank DiMino and guitarist Punky Meadows, the band have announced tour dates in the U.S. this August and September before heading to the UK in October (with more dates to be announced.)
