According to TMZ, former GUNS N' ROSES guitarist DJ Ashba has been arrested on suspicion of driving drunk.

The 45-year-old musician, who was also involved with Nikki Sixx's SIXX: A.M. project, was pulled over on Friday, July 27 in Fairbury, Illinois for failing to stop at a stop sign. Since the guitarist allegedly showed signs of impairment, officers gave him field sobriety tests, which he apparently failed, so he was arrested and taken to jail.

Ashba, who lives in Las Vegas, was raised in Fairbury, where he returned over the weekend to attend the 29th running of the Prairie Dirt Classic at Fairbury American Legion Speedway. He also reportedly performed the U.S. national anthem at the event.

Ashba took to his Facebook page on Sunday (July 29) to write: "It was so nice to chill back home for a few and reset. Thank you to everyone in my hometown of Fairbury for having me out to perform the National Anthem for ya'll. It was an honor!"

DJ joined GUNS N' ROSES in March 2009 following the departure of Robin Finck. He exited the group six years later, saying in a statement that he was leaving GUNS N' ROSES "to dedicate myself to my band SIXX: A.M., my adoring wife and family, and to the many new adventures that the future holds for me."

Earlier this year, Ashba and his SIXX:A.M. bandmate James Michael launched a brand new project called PYROMANTIC. The duo is putting the finishing touches on an album's worth of music.

Sixx has hinted in recent interviews that SIXX:A.M. was over, explaining that he was planning on pursuing a number of different projects in 2018, none of which involve playing in a group.

The official lyric video for "Me Generation" from Ryan Roxie can be seen below. The song is taken from his new solo album, "Imagine Your Reality", which was released on May 25 via Cargo Records UK. The vocalist, guitarist and songwriter, who is best known as Alice Cooper's longtime lead guitarist and collaborator, has also worked with Slash and Gilby Clarke and been a member of Classic Rock award-nominated band CASABLANCA.

"Imagine Your Reality" is Ryan's first official solo release and sees him joined by other noteworthy musicians, including a collaboration with CHEAP TRICK's Robin Zander on the track "California Man".

Ryan said: "CHEAP TRICK were a major influence in my musical upbringing. Both Robin Zander and Rick Nielsen have joined us onstage at Alice Cooper shows in the past and have always been the most quintessential rock stars. In my opinion, Robin Zander's voice is the definition of rock 'n' roll, so having him guest vocal on 'California Man' definitely ticks a box off my 'greatest moments in rock 'n roll' list."

Asked by AntiHero if the songs on "Imagine Your Reality" are all brand new or if they were created using ideas that were collected over the course of several years, Ryan said: "Let's put it this way: everything was put together in the last year as far as getting the final songs done. When it comes to the inspiration, some of the riffs and some of maybe the vocal title tracks, some of those go back a few years. One of the riff rock tracks that we have called 'To Live And Die in L.A.', I had that title sort of bopping around in my head since the '90s. It was actually one of those weird L.A. detective movies — it was the title of a movie, and I thought, 'That title is too cool to be in just a movie. I'm going to make it a song as well.' When you listen to the actual riff, you can actually hear a bit of maybe there are a little bit of the bands I was playing around with during that time in the '90s influence in there. During that time, I was playing with Alice Cooper in the 'Brutal Planet' era as well as SLASH'S SNAKEPIT."

HALESTORM's fourth album, "Vicious", was released on July 27 via Atlantic. The disc was recorded last year at Nashville, Tennesse's Rock Falcon studio with Nick Raskulinecz, an acclaimed producer who has previously worked with RUSH, KORN, ALICE IN CHAINS and DEFTONES, in addition to having produced HALESTORM's third covers EP, "ReAniMate 3.0: The CoVeRs eP", which came out in January 2017.

Lzzy told Boston radio station WAAF about the band's new album: "I feel like this is the most… Every record, we try to kind of get it closer and closer to what people see every day live. And I really think that this is the most HALESTORM record that you're gonna hear from us as of yet."

Hottinger told the SiriusXM show "Trunk Nation" that the band's follow-up to 2015's "Into The Wild Life" would contain some of "the heaviest stuff we've ever done."

"Into The Wild Life" was criticized by some HALESTORM fans for veering too far into pop music territory.

HALESTORM and IN THIS MOMENT recently announced the third leg of their all-female fronted tour, with NEW YEARS DAY supporting.

The new dates begin November 16 in Norfolk, Virginia and run through December 16, wrapping in St. Petersburg, Florida.

On September 22, 2017, DEVIN TOWNSEND PROJECT played a special show at the Ancient Roman Theatre in Plovdiv, Bulgaria, celebrating the 20th anniversary of Devin's landmark "Ocean Machine" album in full, as well as a set of fan-requested tracks alongside the Orchestra of Plovdiv State Opera. This concert was filmed, and on July 6, it saw the light of day as "Ocean Machine - Live at the Ancient Roman Theatre Plovdiv".

DEVIN TOWNSEND PROJECT released the much-acclaimed "Transcendence" in late 2016, before embarking on one of its biggest world tours ever. This new live release marks the end of an era, as DEVIN TOWNSEND PROJECT was disbanded in early 2018 to pave the way for Devin to focus on numerous other creative, musical endeavors of which he is currently hard at work on.

Joe Perry — legendary guitarist, co-founding member, principal songwriter and co-producer of AEROSMITH — has just released the new video for "Aye, Aye, Aye", the first single from his "Sweetzerland Manifesto" album. The clip can be viewed below.

Filmed earlier this year at The Roxy Theatre in West Hollywood, California, the video (and track) features guest vocalist Robin Zander (CHEAP TRICK) along with an all-star band including guitarist Dean DeLeo and bassist Robert DeLeo (STONE TEMPLE PILOTS), Buck Johnson (keyboards/vocals, AEROSMITH) and David Goodstein (drums) The night also featured guest appearances by Slash, Johnny Depp, Gary Cherone (EXTREME, VAN HALEN) who handled vocals for the bulk of the show, with other guest vocalists Terry Reid, David Johansen and Chris Robinson.


"I had just finished writing my autobiography 'Rocks' with David Ritz so we'd been based in L.A.," Joe says about how "Sweetzerland Manifesto" came together. "My friend and future bandmate Johnny [Depp] offered the use of his studio to record my new solo record. Later that week, I went to his studio to talk about the record and the possibly about it being an instrumental CD. Ironically, that night we recorded 'Eve Of Destruction' with Johnny on drums. Even though it was big hit in the sixties, I felt with everything going on in the world today that this song was more than relevant than ever especially since the Atomic Clock had just been moved even closer to midnight."


"'Aye, Aye, Aye' was the only song written from the ground up for this CD," Joe continues. "All the other tracks I had written before the vocalists heard them. Robin had a chorus that he sang to me over the phone and he said, 'This sounds like a riff that could be right up your alley.' When Robin walked into the studio singing 'Aye, Aye, Aye,' I said, 'What is a good key for you?' He said, 'The Aye, Aye, Aye key.' [Laughs] By that night, we had a demo of the song finished. Later I found out it was inspired by my love for my custom Gibson Billie guitar which has my wife's picture on it (painted by John Douglas).

"The only requirement or pressure behind this album was all the songs had to be fun to play live," Perry says. "And after having the chance to perform 'Aye, Aye, Aye' with Robin live, I have to say it hits the mark. Little did I know it would be one of my favorite songs on the CD."

Released earlier this year on Perry's own Roman Records imprint (distributed worldwide by AMPED Distribution), "Sweetzerland Manifesto" marks Joe's sixth solo album and is comprised of 10 new tracks. They were all written or co-written by Joe (many with the album's guest vocalists), except for a cover of "Eve Of Destruction", with Joe on lead vocals and Depp on drums. The album features guest appearances from a long list of Joe's friends, colleagues and rock and roll icons. Highlights include three collaborations with David Johansen, who sings "I Wanna Roll", "Haberdasher Blues" and "I'm Going Crazy", plus as many co-writes with Terry Reid, whose lead vocals light up "I'll Do Happiness" (with Zak Starkey on drums), "Sick & Tired" and "Won't Let Me Go".

Sammy Hagar has uploaded a short clip of him listening to a song from the upcoming first album of all-original material from THE CIRCLE, his critically acclaimed supergroup also featuring Michael Anthony, Jason Bonham and Vic Johnson,

The former VAN HALEN frontman used used the hashtag "#lastsongonrecord" in the Instagram post previewing the track, suggesting that the tune in question is the album closer.

Bonham told Sonic Perspectives in a recent interview that THE CIRCLE's upcoming disc is a "concept kind of album" that needs to be listened to "in a specific order, which kind of tells the story."

The drummer added that Hagar has "been really inspired as of late, and I think it's gonna be some of his best stuff. It's definitely diverse," he said. "As I said, when you listen to it in the order… It's gonna be an incredible… What he wanted to do was do something very different than he's ever done, which is send you on a journey, like the old days. When you put on an album, you listened to it from start to finish instead of just a song — where the placement of each [song] is vital for it to make sense."

THE CIRCLE released a concert album, "At Your Service", in May 2015. Recorded on tour in 2014, it features live performances of hits from Sammy's four decades of rock (MONTROSE, solo, VAN HALEN, THE WABORITAS, CHICKENFOOT) as well as classic tracks from the LED ZEPPELIN catalog.

LAMB OF GOD made its live debut with drummer Art Cruz (PRONG, WINDS OF PLAGUE) Thursday night (July 26) at Gilford, New Hampshire's Bank Of New Hampshire Pavilion.

Cruz is filling in for LAMB OF GOD's regular drummer, Chris Adler, who is sitting out the band's tour with SLAYER "due to unforeseen circumstances."

The North American trek, which also features ANTHRAX, TESTAMENT and NAPALM DEATH, is scheduled to run through August 26 in San Jose, California.

LAMB OF GOD said in a statement that Art was recruited for the gig "at the recommendation of Chris." The band added that it expects "to see Chris returning in the very near future."

In addition to LAMB OF GOD, Adler has played drums with a number of metal artists, including MEGADETH, NITRO, BLOTTED SCIENCE and PROTEST THE HERO.

LAMB OF GOD is touring in support of its covers album, "Legion: XX", which was released under the BURN THE PRIEST banner on May 18 via Nuclear Blast in Europe and Epic Records in the U.S.

WESTFIELD MASSACRE, which features in its ranks singer Seann Nicols (a.k.a. Sheldon Tarsha; formerly of Bobby Blotzer's RATT, ADLER'S APPETITE and QUIET RIOT) will release a new single, "Famine", on August 3. The track, which is taken from the band's forthcoming full-length album, will be accompanied by a brand new music video directed by Ron Underwood.

Nicols took over as the lead vocalist for WESTFIELD MASSACRE in June 2017 when the band parted ways with Tommy Vext, who currently sings for BAD WOLVES.

WESTFIELD MASSACRE has a sound that can be described as a bridge between modern American and European metal. With aggressive growls, high, soaring vocal melodies, impossibly fast drums, classically inspired passages and harmonized guitar leads, WESTFIELD MASSACRE aims to make its modern metal accessible to fans of all music genres.

IRON MAIDEN has been opening its concerts on the current trek with "Aces High" and continuing with "Where Eagles Dare". Other notable tracks aired during the set include the Blaze Bayley-era classics "The Clansman" and "Sign Of The Cross", as well as three additional songs that are being performed for the first time in years: "For The Greater Good Of God", "The Wicker Man" and "Flight Of Icarus".

This past March, IRON MAIDEN singer Bruce Dickinson said in an interview that there will be "one or two things" in the "Legacy Of The Beast" setlist "that people are gonna be really surprised by" and predicted that "there'll be social media madness after the first show."

The concept for the "Legacy Of The Beast" tour was inspired by MAIDEN's mobile game and comic book of the same name and the stage set design features a number of different but interlocking "worlds" with a setlist covering a large selection of 1980s material with a handful of surprises from later albums to add diversity.

The U.K. leg of IRON MAIDEN's "Legacy Of The Beast" tour kicks off in Newcastle on Tuesday, July 31.

Since the tour's opening night in Tallinn, Estonia at the end of May, the band has already played to around 750,000 fans in sold-out stadium, arena and festival shows across Europe, including selling out the prestigious Atletico Madrid football stadium in Spain.

MAIDEN's "The Book Of Souls" world tour kicked off in early 2016 and hit North America last year. The band's Mayan-themed set saw Eddie, MAIDEN's omnipresent mascot, having his heart torn out of his chest by singer Bruce Dickinson, who threw the heart into the crowd.

Canadian multi-instrumentalist Robb Finlayson, who recently released his debut album Winter's Apprentice, has issued the following update:

"I will be starting a new solo project that will solely focus on progressive music. I have so many songs written that fit the genre so it makes sense to create a new name....Skye Asylum. Look for a debut release late 2019."

Finlayson is currently working on new material. He has unveiled the cover art for his next outing - presumably not meant for Skye Asylum - and released a new demo.

Finlayson: "This is a rough demo of a song called 'Hope' that I wrote for my upcoming album. I wanted to close the record out with a song that is meant to inspire, and to express the importance of having hope. It’s a longer song coming in at 7 minutes and will have a full symphony throughout and a choir between 4:31 and 5:05. Of all the songs I have written, I think this one means the most. Can’t wait to get this one 100% finished."

Caroline/UMe are set to issue an extensive, seven-disc box set celebrating legendary, Washington DC-bred glam/rock outfit Angel. Entitled Angel: The Casablanca Years, the band-approved box is due for release on August 31st.

This box set features the six albums Angel released on Neil Bogart"s legendary Casablanca Records label, in addition to a seventh disc that contains mono mixes, single edits, soundtrack contributions, and other rarities. Angel expert Dave Reynolds contributes insightful liner notes to the box set"s included 28-page booklet, which also features rare photos and other memorabilia.

Angel was discovered in a nightclub by none other than Gene Simmons of KISS, a man who had (and still has) a knack for finding and nurturing talent. Angel was also known for their androgynous look and dressing all in white, a pure yin-yang contrast to KISS" own all-black clothing and elaborate stage outfits. In 1975, the glam-rockers were signed to the home label for KISS, Casablanca Records, ultimately releasing six albums (five studio, one live) uninterrupted between 1975-80 that mixed the best elements of glam, hard rock, and pure unadulterated fist-pumping melodic singalongs.

While Angel never quite achieved success as their labelmates Kiss did, they left their mark on in-the-know rock fans of the era with tracks like the hard-driving "Rock & Rollers," "Tower," the perennial holiday favorite "The Winter Song," and their key contribution to the soundtrack of the Jodie Foster-starring 1980 teen drama Foxes, 20th Century Foxes. The line-up for their self-titled 1975 debut Angel consisted of guitarist Punky Meadows, bassist Mickie Jones, vocalist Frank DiMino, keyboardist Gregg Giuffria, and drummer Barry Brandt. This line-up recorded two more albums, 1976"s Helluva Band and 1977"s On Earth As It Is In Heaven, after which Jones would be replaced on bass by Felix Robinson. Two more studio efforts, 1978"s White Hot and 1979"s Sinful, ensued before the release of a much-acclaimed live set, 1980"s Live Without A Net.

Though Angel took a break during most of the 1980s, the cult-favorite collective reformed in 1998. With a revised lineup under the direction of vocalist Frank DiMino and guitarist Punky Meadows, the band have announced tour dates in the U.S. this August and September before heading to the UK in October (with more dates to be announced.)

"In The Name Of Death", the new video from Swedish death metal veterans THE CROWN, can be seen below. The clip was directed and produced by Kalle Johansson and Patrik Skoglow. The song is taken from the band's latest album, "Cobra Speed Venom", which was released in March through Metal Blade Records. The disc was produced with Fredrik Nordström at Studio Fredman.

With their motivation at an all-time high, THE CROWN spent most of 2017 intensely rehearsing 13 new songs. They eventually entered Studio Fredman with Nordström to record what would become "Cobra Speed Venom". The sound is massive, brutal and a real punch in the face. Extreme speed and aggression mixed with classic heavy metal and rock 'n' roll, which really shows that THE CROWN has no boundaries. The apocalyptic theme of the lyrics and music also fits perfectly with the outstanding artwork of Christian Sloan Hall.

"MRI", the new video from Derek Smalls, the bass force formerly of the fabled heavy metal band formerly known as SPINAL TAP, can be seen below. The song is taken from his first full-length solo venture, "Smalls Change (Meditations Upon Ageing)", which was released on April 13 via Twanky Records/BMG on digital, CD and vinyl.

"Smalls Change" is a poignant and oftentimes furious contemplation on aging that explores the passing of time and all things loud. With styles that cross the gamut of musical genres, the album possesses the edgy rawness and rock god sensibility that was always shared by Derek and his fellow former bandmembers Nigel Tufnel and David St. Hubbins. The album also features some of the greatest talents of rock and roll music and beyond, including Peter Frampton, Donald Fagen, Dweezil Zappa, Rick Wakeman, Richard Thompson, Steve Lukather, Joe Satriani, Waddy Wachtel, Michael League, Jeff "Skunk" Baxter, Paul Shaffer, Steve Vai, Larry Carlton, Judith Owen, Jane Lynch and The Hungarian Studio Orchestra. "Smalls Change" is produced by CJ Vanston (SPINAL TAP, RODNEY CROWELL).

Derek told United Rock Nations that it took him so long to record a solo album because he "kept thinking that SPINAL TAP was going to un-dissolve. We don't break up, but we do dissolve a lot, much like a fast-acting pain tablet," he said. "After 2009, we played Glastonbury festival outside London and Wembley Arena in London, and I thought, 'Right, here we go,' and I waited for the phone to ring. It didn't ring, so naturally, the first thing I did was call the telephone company and go, 'Is there a problem?' They said no, and I realized, no, it was the band dissolving again. I did a few other things, and I ended up in Albania hanging with a friend, Eddie Drake, who has a near-death metal band called CHAINSAW VERMIN. I would sit in with them every once in a while, and I thought, 'This is not the way it's going to end, being a sit-in bass player [with] CHAINSAW VERMIN.' I saw this advert from a U.K. outfit called the British Fund For Aging Rockers, and they're giving grants. Apparently, this is the money left over from austerity. I applied for it, and that's how this record came to be made. I didn't want to wait any longer."

Regarding the album's material, Derek said: "They're all new songs. I wrote one with [SPINAL TAP vocalist] David St. Hubbins when we thought we were going to do a SPINAL TAP tour. That's called 'It Don't Get Old'. The others were all written specifically for this record, because when the Fund For Aging Rockers was interviewing me, they said, 'Well, what's your idea?' I said, 'My idea is that you give me money and I make a record.' They said, 'No, no, no — what's your idea, idea?' — they said it twice, as if that meant something — and I thought, 'They say write about what you know. What do I know about? I know I'm getting older.' So that became the theme of the record. They said, 'Well, don't you think you're narrowing your target audience a bit doing that?' I said, 'There are only two types of people in the world — people who are getting older, and dead people. So we're aiming at the active part of the market."

The official lyric video for GUNS N' ROSES' previously unreleased acoustic version of "Move To The City", taken from the "Locked N' Loaded" box reissue of the band's classic 1987 debut album, "Appetite For Destruction", can be seen below.

The "Appetite For Destruction: Locked N' Loaded" box is the one true GN'R Holy Grail. The box includes the Super Deluxe Edition with four CDs featuring the album newly remastered for the first time ever; "B-sides N' EPs" newly remastered; the previously unreleased 1986 Sound City Session N' More recordings; a Blu-ray Audio disc with the album, bonus tracks and music videos in brand new 5.1 surround sound along with the unearthed music video for "It's So Easy" originally shot in 1989 but never finished; and a 96-page hardcover book showcasing unseen photos from Axl Rose's personal archive and a wealth of memorabilia.

Among the rare and previously unreleased material are two songs GUNS N' ROSES recorded with producer Mike Clink, "Shadow Of Your Love" — laid down during a trial session that resulted in Clink getting the production job — and an acoustic version of "Move To The City", which was recorded during the "GN'R Lies" sessions. Additional highlights of the unreleased audio include the first two work-in-progress recording attempts of the 1991 epic masterpiece "November Rain" which was originally penned as the ballad for "Appetite", covers of songs like Elvis Presley's "Heartbreak Hotel", AEROSMITH's "Mama Kin", two distinctly different recordings of THE ROLLING STONES' "Jumpin' Jack Flash" (one electric, one acoustic) and two never-finished tracks/jams, "The Plague" and "New Work Tune".

On the vinyl front, the original "Appetite For Destruction" album has been broadened to 2LPs for the first time, including expanded gatefold jacket art and a limited-edition foil printed plastic slipcase. The music itself is being presented on three sides only for maximum audio fidelity, with the fourth side featuring a vinyl Hologroove Hologram of the band's iconic logo. Seven seven-inch singles are also included: the five original singles from the album, plus one for "Patience" and a new song, the aforementioned "Shadow Of Your Love". All of the bonus tracks appearing on 12-inch vinyl will only be available in the "Locked N' Loaded" box, including a reissue of the band's first EP, "Live ?!*@ Like A Suicide".

Metal Blade Records announces the signing of Skull Pit, a new band featuring the talents of Mem V. Stein (Exumer) and Tatsu Mikami (Church Of Misery).

Skull Pit is a tale of two musicians from opposite sides of the heavy metal spectrum and the planet. One hailing from Tokyo, Japan, the other from New York, US, and meeting each other in cyber space in order to strike up a friendship and musically celebrate the spirit of their youth.

Comments Skull Pit about signing to Metal Blade: "We are beyond excited to have signed to Metal Blade Records, as they are the original metal merchants since 1982. Our style of music could not find a more fitting home, as Metal Blade is best suited to release our music in terms of tradition, vision and our expression of heavy metal."

Prior to writing and recording Skull Pit's debut album, founding members of Exumer, Mem V. Stein, and Church Of Misery, Tatsu Mikami, corresponded for some years online due to their mutual love and respect for each other's band, before embarking on their own joint venture.

The two veterans endeavoured to combine their favourite elements of bands like Motörhead along with the countless outfits of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal into one blistering and highly energetic album. The songs on Skull Pit's debut are a clear departure from what Exumer or Church Of Misery usually sound like. Stepping away from Exumer's lighting fast rhythms and Church Of Misery's slowed down Iommi-inspired riffs, Skull Pit creates melodies in the vein of 70s hard rock and 80s NWOBHM with Lemmy's punk attitude.

The debut album of Skull Pit will drop in the fall of this year. Stay tuned for more news coming soon.

Bay Area progressive, extreme metal band Aenimus have signed a worldwide deal with Nuclear Blast. Today, the band announces they will be joining Pathology as direct support on the Brutal Annihilation tour this summer.

"We are proud to announce that we signed a world wide deal with the biggest metal independent label, Nuclear Blast and have joined Continental Concerts for all booking in North America, Central and South America!," exclaimed bassist Seth Stone. "We're looking forward to showing our most ambitious album to date and touring heavily this coming year!"

In August of 2013, Aenimus released their debut full length album,Transcend Reality. The following years were spent touring in support of the album with the likes of Rings Of Saturn, I Declare War, and Arsonists Get All The Girls to name a few. Following this relentless tour cycle, the band focused the next two years crafting their upcoming album, Dreamcatcher.

In 2018 the cult band Danzig celebrates it's 30th anniversary. To commemorate this occasion, some well-known musicians came together to record a tribute under the name Gdansk. Included are great musicians such as Doro, Sinner, Thundermother and Critical Mess. In addition to well-known Danzig songs, the album also contains interesting versions of Misfits and Samhain classics. Gdansk sees itself not as a cover album but as a tribute to one of the most influential artists of the last decades. Played by musicians from different genres of rock and metal. Danzig will be touring Europe in the late summer and an appearance at the Wacken Open Air festival will let the cult live on.

Oakland’s Silence In The Snow, the dark ethereal collaboration of guitarist/vocalist Cyn M., and drummer Trevor DeSchryver (Wolves In The Throne Room, Lycus, Dispirit, ex-Deafheaven) have signed with the US division of Prophecy Productions. Their dark rock and post-punk influences seep into a melancholy dream, echoing with color and vibrancy while leaving the listener adrift in a trance.
 
Their 2016 debut album Break In The Skin, comprised an intentionally minimalistic palette to produce a simple, yet emotionally substantial sound. In early 2017, Silence In The Snow's sound dramatically evolved with the inclusion of live drums, shifting towards complex and intricate melodies. Their live shows are a unique experience, sharing the stage with acts like Hide, Drab Majesty, and King Dude.
 
On signing, Silence In The Snow says, “We're honored and excited to be working with Prophecy Productions on the release of our next album. "Every day above ground is a good day. Every day above ground making music is a great day! Notch another year and another record on that belt. Today, for my birthday, I'm releasing the new Neanderthal album, Cave Math. Been casually slowly working on this for the past year. Did it all myself (ragtag style) in the home 'studio', The Magick Room (named after our kitty, cause he hangs out there). I have a deep life long love of instrumental music and have enjoyed the hell outta making it ever since I first wired two cassette decks together (circa 86?) in order to multitrack guitar over a half broken Synsonics drum machine (sounded like someone flicking paper). Anyway, it's a fun form of personal therapy and a necessary creative release that keeps me charged.

Prophecy Productions has announced the signing of Seattle’s heavyweight stoner doom duo, Year Of The Cobra.
 
Formed in 2015, Year of the Cobra became a rapidly ascending, radiant star in the horizon of the doom/stoner-scene for a reason: This powerhouse duo, consisting of Amy Tung Barrysmith (vocals/ bass) and Jon Barrysmith (drums), use their limitation in instrumentation to their advantage. Leaving space for every instrument to breathe and to shine, they create a vast, larger than life sound aesthetic. Their songs drift relentlessly from classic epic doom laments into oppressive heavy riff architecture; from catchy, almost upbeat rock moments into transfiguring psychedelia. 
 
In 2016, just a year and one EP into their career, Year of the Cobra released their full-length debut, ...In The Shadows Below. Using the natural, three-dimensional and massively heavy production of Billy Anderson (Neurosis, Sleep) they present themselves as an unbelievably mature and confident band who knows exactly what they want. Following their sophomore EP Burn Your Dead, they had successful tours of Europe and the US, playing a number of well-known festivals along the way, including Psycho Las Vegas, Freak Valley Festival, and Stoned Meadow of Doom. They are currently working on new material for their 2019 follow-up full length with legendary engineer/producer Jack Endino (Nirvana, Tad, Soundgarden), and are confirmed to play the inaugural Prophecy Fest USA, taking place this November at Brooklyn's Knitting Factory.

Old-school heavy metal quartet from Serbia, Thundersteel, has released a brand new single and official video called “Armageddon Age”, first time after their last release The Exorcism from 2015 and are officially presenting their new line-up and have announced something very heavy from their kitchen in the near future.

“‘Armageddon Age’ presents literally everything that was obstructing us to stay active and to write new music over the past three years. Many bad events and issues have occurred and we are very happy to be back, especially with the fresh line up! Our wish is to let people know that we’re still alive and that we’re not gonna stand down for sure! We were lucky to have the guys from MEMO Workshop record our video, they did a fantastic job and there was no better way to say ‘thank you’ to every single person for the continuous support during these last three years.  We’re also heading back to the songwriting process and we’re planning to release new EP in the near future, but more info about that soon. So much effort, so much energy and good spirit was put into everything and it kept the flame burning in us so it’s time to pay back with some good old heavy music!” comments the band.

“Armageddon Age” was recorded and produced by MEMO Workshop team and Aleksandar Madžarević from Novi Sad and the song was recorded, mixed and mastered in Alpha Design studio in Novi Sad, Serbia, by Vladimir Perović. Single was officially released under Grom Tmina Records.

Armored Saint vocalist John Bush talked about the band's next album in a new interview with The Metal Voice.

Says John: “There is certainly a lot to write about, the way I usually write lyrics that are not about one particular topic. The songs I write have three different meanings running through them. I kind of feel if I am writing about a subject that is about a current time period, then it takes it away from being timeless. So I use metaphors and sometimes puns so there are double meanings. We have demoed five songs for the new album so far. I would like to get a new album out by the later part of 2019.”

Coming November, Armored Saint will embark on a European tour commemorating their classic Symbol Of Salvation album. On this special run, the band will perform Symbol Of Salvation in its entirety.

John Bush comments: "Looking forward to coming to Europe in November to play the Metal Hammer Paradise show and others! Plus were playing some cities for the first ever. Milan, Budapest and Zagreb! All this and Symbol Of Salvation in its entirety. Should be an awesome tour. Come on out metal heads. Saint will heat things up on these cold fall nights."

The Mon, the new solo project by Urlo - best known as the lead vocalist, bassist, and synth player in heavy trio Ufomammut - has shared a video from the upcoming debut full-length expected this fall.

The video for The Mon's "Her" is the first one of a series titled "Solve et Coagula" - the formula that the alchemists used to effect the transformation from base metal into gold. It could also be described as a process where something is broken down to its elements, a process which produces energy that compels reconstitution in a purer form. The video for "Her" was created by Lu of Malleus Rock Art Lab.

Urlo further explains the video: "'Her' is one of the most memorable sonic explorations for me, and perhaps the most distant from what I do with Ufomammut. Even compared to the previous track 'Relics' which was more direct, 'Her' is essentially a folk song, which explores subtly smooth, unconventional melodies in a new way for me, it is also one of the more personal songs I've been working on for The Mon's full-length. The video by Lu captures the beauty of the music and retains an element of mystery behind the whole creative project. I'm looking forward to sharing another side to my musical personality with the next video."

Where Ufomammut creates mind-expanding, heavy psychedelic, almost other-dimensional sounds, The Mon by comparison is far more intimate, looking inward, as Urlo explores and examines his inner most thoughts through music. In his own words, the aim of The Mon is, "to reach the boundaries of a spiritual soundscape in which the music becomes purification and atonement, a way to bring out to the world inside my soul."

The Mon builds layers of brooding sounds which sometimes unfurl at a glacial pace and other times lurch with rhythmic propulsion, each piece distinct, densely packed, and all-consuming in their evocative atmospheres.

They're back! The kings of comedy rock Psychostick have a new album out now called Do, and it only took four years to follow their extremely fan loved IV: Revenge Of The Vengeance. And it wasn't because they were lazy... no. But because these geniuses of blending comedy, metal, heavy rock and the occasional spoof cover have been super busy releasing viral videos and touring the world.

Do may have passed fans by real quickly as the band just recently surprised the globe by releasing it during their live webcast on Twitch on July 24th. The band was originally going to reveal just album details but decided what's better than sharing the whole darn thing with them.

The band comments: "Whelp, here it is! Do. This whole "surprise, nerd! New album!" experiment was extremely fun, and we're beyond appreciative of your patience and understanding. We agree with you - four years is way too long. We hope to fix that despite what Murph says!

"Do is our first 100% independent, label-free release since 2003! Our production process is still completely internal, but this time all profits go straight to Psychostick. This is extremely huge for us and we can't thank you enough.

"2018 marked the fifteenth anniversary of our first album, and we're beyond excited that we're still kickin', making globs upon globs of comedy metal. We aim to do this until they kick us out of the old folks' home or off of Mars. That's right. We're goin' to Mars, damnit."

Do continues Psychostick's reign as one of the funniest bands to listen and laugh to. The album features over an hour of variety of laugh track headbanging tunes including singles "Adulting", because who really wants to grow up and "From The Heart", a ballad for those you really dislike. Brutal Panda Records announce the signing of Atlanta, Georgia's Dead Now. On September 28, Reprise Records will release "An American Treasure" — a career-spanning Tom Petty box set. The 60-track set unveils dozens of previously unreleased recordings, alternate versions of classic songs, rarities, historic live performances and deep tracks that spotlight Tom's remarkable depth and evolution as a revered and tremendously influential songwriter, recording artist and performer. "An American Treasure" marks the first release of Tom Petty music since the artist's tragic passing in October 2017.

The first single from "An American Treasure" is "Keep A Little Soul" — a previously unreleased recording from 1982 sessions that resulted in TOM PETTY & THE HEARTBREAKERS' classic album "Long After Dark". Watch the video featuring rare never-before-seen footage of the band below. The song is also available today with box set pre-order. To add to the celebration of this announcement, a newly redesigned web site at TomPetty.com has been launched.

Tom's daughter, Adria Petty, and his wife, Dana Petty, were the primary catalysts for the commission, creation and release of "An American Treasure" — a tribute and love letter pointing to the music in between the hits, and a strong musical portrait of the person they know in their hearts. Adria and Dana both serve as the project's executive producers, and, together with Tom's bandmates of 45 years, Mike Campbell and Benmont Tench, and his studio collaborator, Ryan Ulyate, curated the box set's track list from Petty's rich song catalog. Campbell, Tench and Ulyate also produced "An American Treasure".

The creation of "An American Treasure" was a true labor of love, as Adria Petty and Dana Petty explain: "Everyone involved in this project chose each track with tremendous care and deep respect for the body of work Tom Petty created over the course of 40 years. He also accumulated a wealth of unreleased music in his vaults, and we have collectively uncovered one gem after another that will keep us all listening and discovering new facets of Tom's talent for many years to come. We can't wait to share with Tom's fans this musical portrait of an artist who deeply affected our culture and indelibly touched the lives of fans the world over."

The custom cover artwork for "An American Treasure" was created by prominent American artist Shepard Fairey from an image of Petty by renowned photographer Mark Seliger.

* "An American Treasure: Deluxe Edition" — A 4-CD set that features all 60 tracks, plus a 52-page booklet with rare and previously unseen photographs of Tom, his bandmates, family and friends. The booklet also features detailed track-by-track liner notes by noted journalist and Tom Petty aficionado Bud Scoppa, who drew upon his previous interviews with Tom and new conversations with Mike Campbell, Benmont Tench and Ryan Ulyate, as well as Adria and Dana Petty.

* "An American Treasure: Super Deluxe Limited Edition" — A 4-CD set that features all 60 tracks and an 84-page hardbound book expanded from the Deluxe Edition to include many additional photographs and an essay by renowned author Nicholas Dawidoff — written especially for "An American Treasure" — that speaks to Tom Petty's presence in our lives and influence on our culture for more than 40 years. This special package also includes a newly-created lithograph of Shepard Fairey's cover artwork, as well as custom reproductions of Tom Petty's handwritten lyrics to four songs featured in this collection and a numbered certificate of authenticity.

* "An American Treasure: Vinyl Edition" — A 6-LP set that features all 60 tracks and a 48-page booklet containing all of the photographic and editorial elements found in the CD Deluxe Edition. This set also includes the Nicholas Dawidoff essay. This special vinyl edition will be released on Friday, November 23, but is available for pre-order now.

* "An American Treasure: Standard Edition" — A 2-CD set that features 26 career spanning tracks chosen from the Deluxe editions, as well as Bud Scoppa's detailed track-by-track.

All newly released recordings on "An American Treasure" have been mixed by Ryan Ulyate from pristine transfers of the original studio multitrack masters. All 60 recordings have been re-mastered for this collection by Chris Bellman at Bernie Grundman Mastering.
