Norwegian Singer ISSA: Video For 'Run With The Pack' Title Track

Norwegian Singer ISSA: Video For 'Run With The Pack' Title Track

The official video for "Run With The Pack", the title track of the new album from Norwegian singer Issa (full name: Isabell Oversveen), can be seen below. The disc was released today (Friday, April 20) via Frontiers Music Srl.

"Run With the Pack" is Issa's fifth studio album, another quality outing of classic melodic rock/AOR with huge vocals, layers of keyboards and massive guitars. Reminiscent of bands such as HEART and SARAYA, with a 21st-Century production and great songwriting and arrangements, this time Issa goes in a heavier and more rocking direction. "Run With The Pack" also offers a special treat in the form of a duet with Deen Castronovo (REVOLUTION SAINTS, THE DEAD DAISIES, ex-JOURNEY) on the beautiful song "Sacrifice Me".

Issa says: "I really can't wait for everybody to hear this album; it's been a real labour of love. This album has taken me back to my roots. The feel of the songs is just what got me into music in the first place. The album has got it all — edgy, dark and full of attitude on one hand, but also the classic larger-than-life ballads which I love so much. I've been very privileged to sing a duet with Deen Castronovo and there are some really great songwriters who contributed to the record! When I get asked what my favorite song is, I really don't know... you decide!!!!"

Helped by producer, and keyboard player Alessandro Del Vecchio (HARDLINE, JORN) and some killer musicians such as Simone Mularoni (DGM) on guitar, Marco Di Salvia (KEE OF HEARTS) on drums, Andrea "ToWer" Torricini (VISION DIVINE) on bass, Issa has crafted a superb album which offers soaring and instantly likeable hooklines, solid guitar riffs and a crisp sound.

Issa will perform at the Frontiers Rock Festival V alongside labelmates JORN, STRYPER, QUIET RIOT, JACK RUSSELL'S GREAT WHITE, MICHAEL THOMPSON BAND, PERFECT PLAN, ANIMAL DRIVE, and more on April 29-30 at Live Music Club in Milan, Italy.

"Run With the Pack" track listing:

01. Am I Losin' You

Video Premiere: MELVINS' 'Don't Forget To Breathe'

Video Premiere: MELVINS' 'Don't Forget To Breathe'

"Don't Forget To Breathe", the new Ava Hazelmyer-directed video from MELVINS, can be seen below. The track is taken from the band's new album, "Pinkus Abortion Technician", which is being released today (Friday, April 20) via Ipecac Recordings. The disc features both MELVINS' regular bass player Steven McDonald (REDD KROSS, OFF!) and BUTTHOLE SURFERS' Jeff Pinkus on bass.

"We're very excited to have a video for our song 'Don't Forget To Breathe'," directed by the hyper-talented Ava Hazelmyer. Hopefully, there will be more collaborations with her in the future," said Buzz Osborne. "We can't wait for people to hear 'Pinkus Abortion Technician' and for them to see both of these killer bassists on our upcoming tours!"

"I like to make scenes devoid of context or overt meaning," explained Hazelmyer. "I like taking everyday things and dropping them into an absurd setting. I like the idea of something being experienced without any preconceived notions or connections."

"Pinkus Abortion Technician" track listing:

01. Stop Moving To Florida

02. Embrace The Rub

03. Don't Forget To Breathe

04. Flamboyant Duck

05. Break Bread

06. I Want To Hold Your Hand

07. Prenup Butter

08. Graveyard

"With our [latest] release, we double your bass player with Steven McDonald and Jeff Pinkus holding down the bottom," explains Crover. "It's an experiment in the low end of the aural spectrum where we asked ourselves, 'Would it work?' 'Could it work??' 'Should it work???' The answers were yes, yes and YES!"

"We've never had two bass players," adds Buzz Osborne. "We've had two drummers and two guitar players, so it makes total sense to now have two bass players. We'll be taking this two-prong bass attack on the road as well which should prove to be interesting.

"'Pinkus Abortion Technician' is a radically great record and was a stone groove to record. We drank a lot of coffee and enjoyed each other's company.

"I like Steven and Jeff a great deal. I admire their bass playing and singing and both of them can grill a mean steak."

MELVINS' 10-week North American tour will kick off on April 26 at the Casbah in San Diego. The trek will feature the MELVINS as a four-piece, with both Pinkus and McDonald joining Osborne and Crover.

GLENN TIPTON Rejoins JUDAS PRIEST On Stage In San Francisco (Video)

GLENN TIPTON Rejoins JUDAS PRIEST On Stage In San Francisco (Video)

Guitarist Glenn Tipton rejoined his JUDAS PRIEST bandmates on stage Thursday night (April 19) at The Warfield in San Francisco, California to perform the concert's three-song encore: "Metal Gods", "Breaking The Law" and "Living After Midnight". Fan-filmed video footage of his appearance can be seen below.

Tipton — who revealed in February that he has Parkinson's disease — previously played the same three songs with JUDAS PRIEST on March 20 at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey; on March 22 at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut; on March 23 at The Palladium in Worcester, Massachusetts; on April 15 at ShoWare Center in Kent, Washington; and on April 17 at Portland Memorial Coliseum in Portland, Oregon. It marked his first public performances since announcing his retirement from touring. He told BUILD Series about the experience of once again sharing the stage with his bandmates: "It's just amazing to get, first of all, support from the band. The texts and e-mails from all over world, and to hear the audience was very emotional. You don't like to see a grown man cry, but we did."

Asked if he is planning on making more live appearances with the group, Glenn told 105.7 WAPL: "I think so, yeah. As long as I'm capable of going on stage and doing my parts and doing it well. I love it — I love to be on stage with PRIEST, and I'll do it for as long as I can."

Tipton found out he had Parkinson's four years ago — after being stricken by the degenerative condition at least half a decade earlier — but only recently announced he was going to sit out touring activities in support of PRIEST's latest album, "Firepower". The guitarist, who is now 70 and has performed on every PRIEST LP since the band's 1974 debut set, "Rocka Rolla", is not quitting the band, but simply cannot handle the rigorous challenges of performing live. He is being replaced on tour by "Firepower" album producer Andy Sneap, also known for his work as the guitar player in NWOBHM revivalists HELL and cult thrash outfit SABBAT.

JUDAS PRIEST kicked off the "Firepower" world tour on March 13 at Mohegan Sun Arena in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania.

"Firepower" was released on March 9 via Epic.

The North American leg of the "Firepower" tour will wrap on May 1 in San Antonio, Texas.

ENTOMBED A.D.: First Taste Of Music For Third Album

ENTOMBED A.D.: First Taste Of Music For Third Album

Swedish metallers ENTOMBED A.D. recently entered the studio to begin recording their third album for a tentative late 2018 release.

A short clip from the studio can be seen below.

ENTOMBED A.D.'s second album, "Dead Dawn", was released in February 2016 via Century Media.

Last fall, vocalist Lars-Göran "LG" Petrov spoke to Finland's Rauta about ENTOMBED's decision to release change its name to ENTOMBED A.D. in order to avoid a legal battle with ENTOMBED guitarist Alex Hellid who didn't want his former bandmates to use the ENTOMBED moniker.

"[ENTOMBED and ENTOMBED A.D. are] the same thing — just some minor complications on the way," he said. "But we are here and playing music and headbanging, and that's the most important. But it's the same. It's the same."

Petrov added that he and his bandmates "don't think about" the slight alteration in the group's name. "We just let it roll. As long as we are out, nobody can stop us."

Asked what inspires him to make music and write lyrics these days, Petrov said: "It's boring to sit at home. [Laughs] No, you can always be productive and be out on tour and have no sleep. But that all doesn't matter when you come to the show and you see your brothers in metal. Then it's all worth it."

On the topic of ENTOMBED's musical evolution over the years, Petrov said: "As you go on in life, you experience new things, you wanna try out other things, and ENTOMBED has always tried to do that. Maybe more than for our own good sometimes, but now we're just going straightforward and we just do it again — over and over again. And as long as you don't get tired of it, you just continue. If you get tired of it, you should quit. You don't do it because… If you don't like it, step aside and let it roll."

ENTOMBED A.D. is:

Lars-Göran Petrov - Vocals

Nico Elgstrand - Guitar

Victor Brandt - Bass

Olle Dahlstedt - Drums

Guilherme Miranda - Guitar

Legendary New Jersey thrashers OVERKILL will release "Live In Overhausen" on May 18 via Nuclear Blast.

Celebrating the band's history, "Live In Overhausen" captured not one but two album anniversaries. Fans assembled on April 16, 2016 at Turbinenhalle 2 in Oberhausen, Germany for the 25th anniversary of "Horrorscope" and 30th anniversary of where it all began, "Feel The Fire".

OVERKILL singer Bobby "Blitz" Ellsworth comments: "From the stage to your eyes and ears! A rare two-hour look at what has transpired over three decades in one of the world's hotbeds of metal. Hang on to your hats, kids, it's going to be a 'thrashy-ride'!"

Today, the band has unveiled the second video from the historic show. Check out the "Thanx For Nothin'" performance clip below.

* 2 CD + DVD Digipak

* Horrorscope (Live in Overhausen)

"Live In Overhausen" track listing:

01. Coma

02. Infectious

03. Blood Money

04. Thanx For Nothin'

05. Bare Bones

06. Horrorscope

07. New Machine

15. Second Son

16. Hammerhead

17. Feel The Fire

18. Blood And Iron

19. Kill at Command

20. Overkill

21. Fuck You

OVERKILL utilized a stand-in drummer — the band's soundman Eddy Garcia, who is also a member of the El Paso, Texas act PISSING RAZORS — for the Oberhausen show because the group's then-drummer, Ron Lipnicki, was forced to stay home due to undisclosed family issues.

OVERKILL last year announced the addition of drummer Jason Bittner (SHADOWS FALL, FLOTSAM AND JETSAM) to the group's ranks.

OVERKILL recently returned to the studio to resume work on demos for its upcoming album.

Ellsworth told Australia's 3D Radio about the band's songwriting and recording process: "Well, for us, coming from the old school, to some degree, it has to be physical. And what I mean by that is standing in a room with the others, splitting a pizza, splitting a beer, sweating, coming up with some good ideas, occasionally, or even more than occasionally, going, 'Oh my God! That sucked.' And then moving from there into what the modern era offers us, and that's the Pro Tools and trading files back and forth over the Internet, because instantaneous ideas can be traded from home now. So we use kind of a combination of the old 'let's sweat it out and tune the guitars up' to the modern day of 'let's get down with the computers and exchange our ideas.' So it works both ways for us. So it's a combination of the old and the new."

Ellsworth went on to say that OVERKILL has "adapted" to the new writing and recording techniques. "But," he added, "we've never abandoned the studio rehearsal space. That, to us, is necessary. I think it gives us a link to how we started. And I think there's something very humbling about saying, 'Sure, this was still worth it back then.' And to some degree, when you think of this type of music — metal in general, aggressive — I think it needs to be presented as a group, or understood as a group, as opposed to invididuals just coming up with ideas. So the combination really works for us. And I think this keeps us grounded."

OVERKILL's latest album, "The Grinding Wheel", was released in February 2017 via Nuclear Blast. The disc was produced by OVERKILL and mixed by Andy Sneap (MEGADETH, EXODUS, ACCEPT). The artwork was created again by Travis Smith (NEVERMORE, OPETH, SOILWORK, DEATH).

SOILWORK: First Video From The Studio

SOILWORK: First Video From The Studio

Swedish metallers SOILWORK recently entered Nordic Sound Lab studios in Skara, Sweden with producer Thomas "Plec" Johansson to begin recording their eleventh album. The follow-up to 2015's "The Ride Majestic" is tentatively due in the fall via Nuclear Blast Records.

"The Ride Majestic" was SOILWORK's last album to feature longtime drummer Dirk Verbeuren, who left the band in July 2016 to join MEGADETH. He was replaced in SOILWORK by Bastian Thusgaard of THE ARCANE ORDER.

A short video of Thusgaard laying down tracks for the new SOILWORK album can be seen below.

Thusgaard comments: "I'm so proud of my achievements on this album. I was given a great amount of freedom both in writing and recording. Obviously, I wanted to honor the 'drum vibe' that has developed in the band through time. At the same time, I'm very aware of the fact that I'm a different drummer to my predecessors. This is something I really wanted to showcase by adding my own vibe to the band's sound."

Singer Björn "Speed" Strid adds: "On this new album we have gone back to classic heavy metal basics but with a twist of our own legacy of sound, with soaring melancholic melodies at a sometimes-furious tempo and great diversity. People will recognize the vibe that we've had on the latest two albums, but we feel that we've taken our sound even further, with more energy, darker elements but uplifting structure."

In 2016, SOILWORK released a special collection of rarities titled "Death Resonance" via Nuclear Blast.

Verbeuren joined MEGADETH at the recommendation of LAMB OF GOD's Chris Adler who played on MEGADETH's "Dystopia" album.

CLUTCH To Release 'Book Of Bad Decisions' Album In September

CLUTCH To Release 'Book Of Bad Decisions' Album In September

Maryland rockers CLUTCH have set "Book Of Bad Decisions" as the title of their new album, tentatively due in September. The disc was recently completed at Sputnik Sound studio in Nashville, Tennessee with producer and engineer Vance Powell (THE WHITE STRIPES, RED FANG).

Speaking to Brittney Patton of 103.7 The Eagle Rocks! at this weekend's Las Rageous festival in Las Vegas, CLUTCH frontman Neil Fallon stated about the lyrical themes covered on "Book Of Bad Decisions" (see video below): "This record has a lot of… maybe not a lot, but instances where I looked back into events of my own life or CLUTCH's career, took them and exaggerated them for the purposes of drama. I've always been wary of that, 'cause I don't really like nostalgia. But I also realize, after 25 years, there's a whole catalogue of experiences that I can take and draw from that. Sometimes getting inspired can be hard. Listening to a song, [you think], 'What's this one gonna be about?' And sometimes they come right out of the sky, sometimes no, they don't. So that seemed like a good place to draw from."

Fallon went on to describe the experience of working with Powell as "awesome." He said: "We were only three weeks, and we managed to bang out 15 songs. It's done, in the bag. He was a joy to work with, and it's a great-sounding record, and we're really pleased with the way it came out."

Neil credited Vance with giving "Book Of Bad Decisions" a more "live" feel than has been the case with some of CLUTCH's previous albums. "Vance is one of us," Fallon said. "He comes from a live background. He toured with Tanya Tucker. [He was] in country initially, and then he does rock and roll as well. So he understands the live parameters. He didn't go to a fancy audio school [and then] directly to the studio — he paid his dues — and I think that's an education you can't buy."

Fallon said that recording "live" was "light years easier" than tracking each instrument separately, "because we've been doing it so long, there's all these little subconscious cues that we all receive and give to each other, whether Jean-Paul's [Gaster, drums] fill is a little different or Tim's [Sult, guitar] solo is a little different that everyone else will react to. Instead of just cutting overdubs as your basic track. That's very clinical; it's not fun."

According to Neil, he was surprised by "how easy it was" making an album with Powell. "At the time, honestly, every time I would go home, I felt like I hadn't accomplished anything during the day, and I was really worried," he said. "And then, all of a sudden, when things started getting towards the end, I was, like, 'Wow, we actually made a record.' It wasn't like pulling teeth. He's got a very laid-back approach to tracking vocals, and he mixes along the way, so it starts sounding better and better and better. And he likes to take frequent breaks for a barbecue, which we can get down with. It doesn't make so much for good singing afterwards, but you choose your battles."

CLUTCH's last album, "Psychic Warfare", debuted at No. 11 on The Billboard 200 chart after shifting 26,000 equivalent album units in the week ending October 8, 2015. The disc was released via the band's own label, Weathermaker Music.

Video Premiere: GUS G.'s 'Fearless'

Video Premiere: GUS G.'s 'Fearless'

The official video for "Fearless", the title track of the new solo album from Greek guitar virtuoso Gus G., well known in rock and metal circles for his work as Ozzy Osbourne's guitarist and as leader of his own band FIREWIND, can be seen below. The disc is being released today (Friday, April 20) via AFM Records. The follow-up to 2015's "Brand New Revolution" marks his first release since exiting Osbourne's band in 2017.

On "Fearless", Gus joins forces with vocalist/bassist Dennis Ward (PINK CREAM 69, UNISONIC) and drummer Will Hunt (EVANESCENCE).

"Dennis and I have collaborated very closely for a number years; he produced the current FIREWIND album, 'Immortals', among other things," Gus described his relationship with the multitalented German-American. "We're on the same musical wavelength and simply continued our cooperation after the FIREWIND production. I sent him demos of and ideas for my new songs and once we had enough material and started to think about vocalists, Dennis suggested recording the album as a trio.

"A lot of people don't realize that Dennis is not only a brilliant songwriter, bassist and producer, but also an excellent singer. I immediately liked his suggestion because this would be very different from everything else I've done before."

It was only a short step from the enlistment of drummer Will Hunt. Gus said: "Will was at the very top of my wish list. Fate smiled on me because we played at the Frankfurt music fair 2017 during my tour with Steve Stevens, and Will stayed at the same hotel. So I approached him, we talked for a while and he agreed. Last August he came to the studio and recorded the drum parts for the whole album within two and a half days. A real pro with a great groove and an awesome punch."

Which applies not only to Hunt and Ward, but of course also to Gus himself, who once again proves to be a phenomenal guitarist on "Fearless", presenting technical skills which exclude all possibility of doubt and a compositional talent that allows his fellow musicians to shine.

Hard-as-nails metal tracks such as the opener "Letting Go", "Mr. Manson", which is driven by a dark bass/guitar riff, and the subsequent melodic "Don't Tread On Me" immediately propel the new album into the desired direction. At the same time, the three instrumental songs give listeners an idea of the outstanding talent of the 37-year-old who is easily on a par with George Lynch ("Mr. Scary") and Michael Schenker ("Into The Arena").

"A lot of fans have asked me to record more instrumental tracks. Voilà, here they are," grins Gus. Last but not least, the successful cover versions of the DIRE STRAITS classic "Money For Nothing", which surprises with an unusual change of key after the noteworthy intro, deserves a mention.

"Fearless" track listing:

01. Letting Go

02. Mr. Manson

03. Don't Tread On Me

04. Fearless

05. Nothing To Say

06. Money For Nothing

WIEGEDOOD Release “Parool” Video

Upon today’s release of their new album, De Doden Hebben Het Goed III, Belgium’s Wiegedood are releasing a video for the song “Parool”:

Wiegedood shared insight on the album's cover art (featured below), which was completed by Stefaan Temmerman, stating: "The picture for this cover was taken in Sint-Eloois-Winkel, a small town near Kortrijk where Levy grew up. Subsequently, the cover for De Doden Hebben Het Goed II was taken in De Haan, where Gilles spent his childhood and the first cover picture was taken in Ransberg, where Wim grew up and is still living today.”

After being formed in 2014 by Levy Seynaeve (Amenra, Oathbreaker) as well as Wim Coppers and Gilles Demolder (both also in Oathbreaker) Wiegedood quickly became a household name in the European extreme metal scene. Both of their previous albums, De Doden Hebben Het Goed and De Doden Hebben Het Goed II, as well as their furious and cathartic live performances made waves beyond the realms of black metal.

Wiegedood have already confirmed the following live shows and more international dates will follow shortly:

WITCH CASKET – “The True Knot” Music Video Streaming

WITCH CASKET – “The True Knot” Music Video Streaming

In anticipation of the release of their debut EP entitled Hatred Index, Southern California blackened death metal outfit Witch Casket have announced the release of the music video for "The True Knot", one of the tracks from their upcoming album due out April 27th.  The video was filmed in Los Angeles and directed by the band's vocalist Drogoth.

Drogoth had this to say about the video:

"Since our first music video was mainly a ‘performance’ video, I wanted to do something more cinematic and story driven. The video finds the band members fleeing the city, being pursued by an unseen adversary, or perhaps being drawn to the outskirts by the call of a coven of powerful witches.  The band is taken on a journey that serves as a sort of ‘origin story’, following them through a transformation from crestfallen reprobates to a stronger, more unified force. The video was shot on location in Downtown Los Angeles, as well as along the Angeles Crest Highway in the San Gabriel mountains."

The formation of Witch Casket began in 2013 when ex-Sothis guitarist Colin "Nylock" Cameron and guitarist Neal Tiemann started working on writing songs together in Nylock's Los Angeles studio. Once a majority of the songs had been written, ex-Sothis vocalist Adam "Drogoth" McCarthy was brought on to handle writing lyrics and recording vocals. Originally formed simply as a studio project, all musical instrumentation was composed and executed by both Nylock and Tiemann.

Witch Casket are poised to explode on the metal scene with a crushing brutality, a high-energy live show, and are ready to deliver to the masses their unique brand of melodic blackened death metal.

SHYLMAGOGHNAR Release “Transience” Video

SHYLMAGOGHNAR Release “Transience” Video

Hailing from the Netherlands, Shylmagoghnar became one of the most spoken of extreme metal duos in underground metal throughout the years. This is not just because of pure heaviness, not because of incredible song structures and not because of fiery emotional music. This is a combination connecting all of these factors and creating a raw and unique soundscape.

With their debut album Emergence, Shylmagoghnar achieved an amazing feat, without having signed to a label, their album reached nearly 1,700,000 views on the bands YouTube channel. Now it's time to bring Shylmagoghnar's music even further... with Napalm Records. Their second strike is entitled Transience, and will be out on June 29th. On this album the band perfected their game and brought it to a whole new level.

Atmospheric black metal and harsh vocals burst into progressive guitar melodies deeply rooted in melodic death metal creating a rather melancholic and yet playful set-up indulging in themes of our existence in all its monumental beauty and horrible chasms. Check out a video for the title track below.

The album will be vailable in the following formats:

- Regular Jewel Case
- 2 LP Gatefold & Bonus Track
- Regular Jewel Case & Shirt Bundle
- Digital Full-Length Album

ANGELUS APATRIDA Release “Farewell” Video

ANGELUS APATRIDA Release “Farewell” Video

Spanish thrash metallers Angelus Apatrida are soon to release their new studio album Cabaret de la Guillotine, on May 4th via Century Media Records. Following up 2015’s acclaimed Hidden Evolution, which entered the charts in Spain on # 2, this sixth studio album effort showcases the wide heavy metal range of Angelus Apatrida, from neck-breaking thrash, to truly melodic and yet powerful metal, acting as the group’s most diverse effort to date.

Stressing Angelus Apatrida’s expanded dynamic range on the upcoming album, the newest single “Farewell” is available via a video-clip directed by Holy Cuervo (Nacho Montero and Paco Fernández).

The band comments: "We've always wanted to make a quiet, melodic but powerful Angelus Apatrida song, full of feeling like those ones that got us hooked when we were little kids: ‘Cemetery Gates’, ‘Fade To Black’ or ‘The Legacy’. ‘Farewell’ is dedicated to the memory of our great fan and friend Alberto, who passed away a year and a half ago because of cancer. This one is for him and for all the others who fight against this disease every single day, for their friends and families. Everything has been made with a lot of love and respect: Every note of the music, every word of the lyrics and every shot of the video. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do.”

The album was mixed and mastered by the longtime sonic partner Daniel Cardoso (Anathema, Anneke van Giersbergen) and with artwork by Gyula Havancsák (Destruction, Annihilator).

Tracklisting:

“Sharpen The Guillotine”
“Betrayed”
“Ministry Of God”

RAGE – Execution Guaranteed To Receive Vinyl Reissue

RAGE – Execution Guaranteed To Receive Vinyl Reissue

Pure Steel Records will reissue the Rage album Execution Guaranteed on limited edition double vinyl on June 22nd. The album will be available on black (350 units) and transparent red/black splatter (150 units) with nine bonus tracks.

After Pure Steel did the debut Reign Of Fear from ’86 now there’s also a vinyl reissue of the second album Execution Guaranteed. Released as double pack with gatefold cover - including the remixed version (Tommy Hansen) on the first LP and the original 1987 mix (Andi Musolf) on the second disc - now there’s the possibility for everyone to pick their own favourite.

Starting with the hyper fast “Down By Law” Peavy and his horde take no prisoners and speed metal bangers will directly be reminded back to glory old times. With the groovy title track Rage deliver a perfect anthem in a great mid-tempo, continued by also great songs: “Street Wolf” shows up a decent dark flair, “Deadly Error” starts with a beautiful acoustic intro and with “When You’re Dead” the quartet deliver a great up-tempo smasher to end up this record. During the whole album Peavy is screaming like a maniac and the rhythm section around Jörg Michael sometimes is “faster than hell”, like they sung back in Avenger.

Tracklisting:

Side A
“Down By Law”
“Execution Guaranteed”
“Before The Storm”
“Street Wolf”

Side B
“Deadly Error”
“Hatred”
“Grapes Of Wrath”
“Mental Decay”

Side C

LIVING COLOUR Pay Tribute To PRINCE With "The Cross" Live Performance (Video)

On June 8th, 2016, Living Colour performed a semi-acoustic set to a sold out City Winery NYC audience. The video below features a very special tribute to Prince, dedicated for his birthday (June 7th) and to the memory of his legacy. The performance of Prince's "The Cross", from his 1987 album Sign 'O' The Times, features a very rare appearance of Living Colour frontman Corey Glover playing guitar with the band, Vernon Reid on banjo, with Doug Wimbish on an acoustic bass.

Two-time Grammy-Award Winner Corey Glover is performing a series of exclusive solo shows to celebrate the 20th anniversary of his debut album, Hymns. According to Glover, fans can expect to hear songs from his first solo release as well as the “unexpected covers” that his shows have become known for.

Hymns was released in the spring of 1998 and many fans and critics believed it truly showcased Glover’s versatility as a singer and songwriter with its intricate mix of rock, folk, soul and even gospel. Glover has been called a true renaissance man. He not only fronts Living Colour, who will be heading back on tour later this year to continue to promote their latest album, Shade, which peaked at #12 on the Billboard charts, but he’s also an accomplished actor. He has appeared in such films as Platoon and has starred in various television roles.

MANTICORA – To Kill To Live To Kill Concept Album Details Revealed

MANTICORA – To Kill To Live To Kill Concept Album Details Revealed

Danish thrash/power metallers, Manticora, have revealed the cover artwork for their upcoming (8th) album - a stunning picture, painted by the extremely talented Danish painter/tattoo artist David Troest. As the new album To Kill To Live To Kill is another Manticora concept double-album, based on the thriller/horror novel that lead singer, Lars F. Larsen has written, the artwork resembles the stories of the novel.

Larsen explains:

“We have always tried out new cover artwork artists for each album, so when looking for the perfect person to give justice to the novel and the two albums, we wanted someone who'd be able to grasp the essence of the stories within the book, and when looking at David's pictures in general, it's evident for even the feeble-minded that he's that exact guy. He also lives less than an hour away from us, so it was a win-win situation for everyone to be able to meet up and do corrections on the front cover and all the other pictures that'll appear in the booklet. We're already beginning the work for the second album as well, so we can follow the release schedule of having the albums out 12 months apart.”

The two concept albums, which are a part of a grandiose concept, based on the thriller/horror novel that leadsinger, Lars F. Larsen has written, will be released as two separate albums, one year apart.

The novel itself is scheduled for a May 2018 release, followed by the first album, which will see the light of day on August 3rd, 2018, released by ViciSolum Records, worldwide.

The music was recorded and mixed in Hansen Studios, with world-famous producer, Jacob Hansen (Volbeat, Destruction) who also produced the first two Manticora albums back in the last millennium, and vocals were recorded with Tommy Hansen at Jailhouse studios (Helloween, Beyond Twilight, Jorn). Tommy has previously produced five albums for the band.

Tracklisting:

“Piano Concerto 1 – B Flat Minor”
“Echoes Of A Silent Scream”
“Through The Eyes Of The Killer – Towering Over You”

“The Farmer’s Tale Pt. 1 – The Aftermath Of Indifference”
“The Devil In Lisbon”
“Growth”
“Humiliation Supreme”
“Nothing Lasts Forever”

SOUNDGARDEN Members To Perform Together For First Time Since CHRIS CORNELL's Death

SOUNDGARDEN Members To Perform Together For First Time Since CHRIS CORNELL's Death

SOUNDGARDEN drummer Matt Cameron and guitarist Kim Thayil will perform together for the first time since the death of SOUNDGARDEN singer Chris Cornell, according to The Pulse Of Radio. The occasion will be the Northside Festival in Denmark on June 8, where Cameron will appear as a special guest of the MC50.

The MC50 is a band that original MC5 guitarist Wayne Kramer has assembled to celebrate the upcoming 50th anniversary of the MC5's legendary debut album, "Kick Out The Jams". The lineup includes Thayil, FUGAZI drummer Brendan Canty, KING'S X bassist Doug Pinnick and others.

Kramer and the band will play the album "Kick Out The Jams" in its entirety followed by an encore of MC5 material that will change each night.

The North American leg of the tour begins in early September and closes out on October 27 in Detroit, where The MC5 was from and first came to national prominence.

Cameron and Thayil made their first public appearance together since Chris Cornell's death last fall to support Vicky Cornell at a Human Rights Watch charity dinner as she accepted an award on behalf of her late husband.

SOUNDGARDEN bassist Ben Shepherd has yet to make any public appearance or statement since Cornell's death, though he was photographed with Chris's brother Peter Cornell in Seattle last year.

Chris Cornell was found hanged in a Detroit hotel room last May 18 after a SOUNDGARDEN concert earlier that night.

OCEANHOARSE Featuring Members Of AMORAL, FOR THE IMPERIUM And MY GRAIN Release New "Waves" Single

OCEANHOARSE Featuring Members Of AMORAL, FOR THE IMPERIUM And MY GRAIN Release New "Waves" Single

After two years of working in the shadows, Helsinki-based heavy metal band Oceanhoarse revealed itself in 2018. The band, which consists of familiar faces from the Finnish metal scene, released it's debut single and video “The Oceanhoarse” in January, followed by two sold-out shows in Finland supporting Beast In Black. These shows made it an easy decision to go with a live video for the second single, “Fading Neons”.

“We pride ourselves as being a live band first and foremost, so why not show everyone what we sound like onstage right out of the gate?” guitarist Ben Varon asks. “The idea of releasing both the studio version and the live version simultaneously seemed fresh. Especially since the live version was recorded during our second show ever! When you play with no click or backing tracks like we do, the live version is always going to be a bit different, which makes it exciting.”

The band has released a third single, "Waves". The menacingly slow and undeniably heavy track holds a special place in the band's heart.

”Playing this song has sent chills down my spine at every show. It feels like glazing a gingerbread house with a firehose. In slow motion,” says drummer Oskari Niemi .

"'Waves' is our heaviest and most epic song so far. I can barely keep my balance onstage with that humongous riff working its way into my brain like hot lava”, singer Tommy Tuovinen continues.

Listen to "Waves" on Spotify here.

The studio version of “Fading Neons” can be downloaded or streamed from most digital music platforms, while the live version - premiered exclusively on Brave Words - can be watched below.

About Oceanhoarse:

It was a conscious decision to hold up the launch of Oceanhoarse until the band was extremely tight, the song material strong enough, and the band's own unique voice beginning to take shape. Good songs were canned along the way, if the group felt they didn't fit or weren't original enough.

Early on, Oceanhoarse also set some ground rules for themselves: There would be zero use of backing tracks or synthesizers. The focus would be on kickass, live-oriented heavy metal. The band would also have to be number one priority to all of it's members, no exceptions.

”It was early December 2016 when I realized that it was time to disband my old group Amoral, and start something new, from scratch”, guitarist Ben Varon says.” And, most importantly, do it with musicians who share my drive and passion for playing music, musicians that would be willing and able to put 130% of themselves into this band. The first guy I thought of was bassist Jyri Helko. I called him that very same day.”

It didn't take long to convince Helko, formerly of For The Imperium, to jump on board.

"The call came at the perfect time", Jyri says. "Like Ben, I also felt the need to play in a hard working, tight band that would blow all other groups off the stage. It was an easy decision."

When it came to finding the right frontman, Varon and Helko had their eyes set on one guy only: ex-MyGrain singer Tommy Tuovinen.

"I got excited about the idea right away. I had had it with bands and projects that went nowhere, so just the attitude alone of these dudes spoke to me. Once I heard the songs they were working on, I knew I needed to be in this band!" Tommy remembers.

Filling the drum spot was looking tricky for a while. All serious candidates were already involved in multiple bands, and sharing was not an option. But the Gods of Heavy Metal decided to bless the new band with the best-kept secret in Finnish metal: young newcomer Oskari Niemi was found through recommendations of friends, and his attitude and playing blew the guys away. It was clear to all that Oskari was the missing piece. Oceanhoarse was now complete!

Report: Young Heavy Metal Fans Are Five Times More Likely To Self-Harm Or Attempt Suicide

Report: Young Heavy Metal Fans Are Five Times More Likely To Self-Harm Or Attempt Suicide

Deccan Herald is reporting that metalheads in the city are surprised by the findings of a new study which claims that young heavy metal fans are five times more likely to self-harm or attempt suicide.

The study, conducted by researchers from the Universities of Manchester and Liverpool, found that groups belonging to alternative subcultures - which also include goths and emos - are at greater risk of hurting themselves.

However, the study has not been able to figure out why people listening to such genres are at risk. Reasons put forth range from a sense of alienation from society, victimization and stigma associated with belonging to these subcultures and a feeling that young people who have faced more adversity may be more likely to become part of a subculture.

GRUESOME Streaming MANTAS Cover "Legion Of Doom"; Two Special Shows With EXHUMED Announced

GRUESOME Streaming MANTAS Cover "Legion Of Doom"; Two Special Shows With EXHUMED Announced

Death metal defenders of the old Gruesome are streaming their cover of "Legion Of Doom" by Chuck Schuldiner's pre-Death project, Mantas. The recording will be included in Decibel magazine's June 2018 issue as a special pictured flexi disc.

Comments vocalist/guitarist Matt Harvey, "We did 'Legion Of Doom' to highlight the through-line from the early Mantas days all the way to Spiritual Healing. That signature riff just oozes heaviness. After working on the more melodic and developed album material, it was a lot of fun and a great way to blow off steam by jamming some nasty, primitive death metal."

Stream the track below. A limited number of issues containing the flexi are available here.

Less than four short years into their career, Gruesome (featuring current and former members of Exhumed, Possessed, Malevolent Creation, etc.) return with their second full-length sermon, Twisted Prayers. Twisted Prayers follows Death's paradigm shift during the Spiritual Healing era, incorporating more cerebral, melodic instrumentation with elements of thrash and thought-provoking, socially conscious lyrics.

Watch a lyric video for Gruesome’s new song “A Waste Of Life” below. Stream it via digital streaming services here.

Vocalist / guitarist Matt Harvey commented on the new song: “‘A Waste Of Life’ was a great opportunity to channel Chuck and vent some frustration in a constructive way - through making some good ol’ fashioned death metal. It’s great to move forward in the Death catalog and get some new ground to cover. As much fun as we had working with the raw and nasty stuff on Savage Land and Dimensions Of Horror, it’s great to challenge ourselves musically and thematically just like Chuck, James, Terry and Bill did on Spiritual Healing. Hopefully we do those guys justice and everyone has as much fun listening to the track as we did creating it.”

Gruesome’s second studio album Twisted Prayers is due out June 1st on CD/LP/DLX LP/CS/Digital via Relapse Records. Physical packages are available via Relapse.com here and Digital Downloads / Streaming Services here.

Recorded with producer Jarrett Pritchard (Exhumed, 1349, Goatwhore) at New Constellation Studios in Orlando, FL, Twisted Prayers features Gruesome doing what they do best across eight songs and 40+ minutes of unholy hymns with lurid melodies and vulgar atmospheres. The band has once again teamed up with the legendary Ed Repka (Death, Atheist, Massacre) for the album’s blasphemous cover art in addition to legendary Death guitarist James Murphy (Death, Obituary, Testament) for a pair of special guest guitar solos. Bow your heads and worship at the altar of Gruesome.

Twisted Prayers tracklisting:

"Inhumane”
"A Waste Of Life”
"Fate”
"Lethal Legacy”
"Fatal Illusions”
"Crusade Of Brutality”
"At Death’s Door”
"Twisted Prayers”

BLACK STONE CHERRY Jam Inside JIMI HENDRIX's London Flat; Video Available

BLACK STONE CHERRY Jam Inside JIMI HENDRIX's London Flat; Video Available

In the video below, courtesy of Guitar Interactive, Black Stone Cherry give an exclusive performance inside Jimi Hendrix's 1960s London Mayfair flat of "Tired Of The Rain" and their current single, "Bad Habit" from the brand new album, Family Tree, released April 20th via Mascot Records.

Family Tree is the much-anticipated follow up to 2016’s Kentucky. Like Kentucky, Black Stone Cherry opted to self-produce and track Family Tree at David Barrick's Barrick Recording in Glasgow, KY, the same studio where the four-piece recorded their eponymous debut. BSC also opted to not over-rehearse upfront of the album sessions, instead preferring the immediacy and spontaneity of in-the-moment takes. The band also entrusted frontman Chris Robertson to mix the songs, which perfectly fit the loose, creative process that birthed Family Tree.

Family Tree boasts BSC’s tried-and-true lucky number with its 13 songs, and like all BSC releases, features songwriting contributions from each member. Drummer John Fred tells us, “Family Tree showcases all of our collective musical influences and how we have taken those to create something that is truly our own unique Southern American rock ‘n roll sound.” Two special guests appear, one bringing the concept of family full circle. Chris’ 5 yr old son contributes backup vocals on the swaggering 'You Got The Blues', while the other, revered jam-band musician Warren Haynes (Allman Bros / Gov’t Mule) offers a guitar cameo and vocals on the delta stomp of 'Dancing In The Rain'. The band first met Warren 17 years ago as freshly-signed youngsters on their first visit to New York City.

The concept of family looms large in the world of Black Stone Cherry’s four band members. Sticksman John Fred Young's father Richard and his uncle Fred, are founding members of the Grammy Award-winning country rock n’ roots band, The Kentucky HeadHunters. BSC’s four high school-aged friends - Young, plus frontman/guitarist Chris Robertson, guitarist Ben Wells and bassist Jon Lawhon - grew up honing their craft in the Headhunters’ Practice House, an abandoned property on the Young family’s farmland. John Fred says, “We grew up in the Kentucky Headhunters’ rehearsal space, looking up at posters of Cream, Led Zeppelin, Uriah Heep, the Stones, Montrose, and the Faces. We were like kids someone took in a time capsule and put in the woods.”

The new song marks the second of three brand new pre-order tracks and follows last week’s release “Fake” which generated just under 1 million streams in the US during its first week and made the viral chart on Spotify in multiple countries. Fans can expect one more additional song to be revealed on May 4th. Listen to “Sham Pain” below.

“’Sham Pain’ is a lyrical snapshot of probably the biggest, yet most chaotic year of this band’s career,” says guitarist Zoltan Bathory. “Everyone has a different way of dealing with the moments when life hands them lemons... some complain and some make lemonade. Us, we pour gasoline on it and then hit it with a rocket launcher. Sarcasm has always been our ‘Art of War’ (if from naming the band ‘Five Finger Death Punch’ you haven’t figured it out yet), but just wait until you see the video we made for this song.”

And Justice For None, out on May 18th, is available for physical pre-order in the following formats:

- Standard physical CD (13 tracks)
- Deluxe physical CD (13 tracks + 3 bonus tracks + Deluxe artwork)
- Vinyl (13 tracks + 3 bonus tracks + Deluxe gatefold artwork)

The band is also offering fans a variety of new CD/merchandise bundles.

Fans who pre-order the new album will also receive an exclusive ticket pre-sale code for Five Finger Death Punch’s just announced 32-date North American summer co-headlining amphitheater tour with Breaking Benjamin.

JOE PERRY Says AEROSMITH Is Planning 50th-Anniversary Tour

JOE PERRY Says AEROSMITH Is Planning 50th-Anniversary Tour

Joe Perry says AEROSMITH will hit the road to celebrate its 50th anniversary.

The guitarist told Atlantic City Weekly that he and his bandmates may play additional one-off shows following their previously confirmed appearance at the New Orleans Jazz And Heritage Festival on May 5.

Asked about AEROSMITH's touring plans, Joe said: "I think the way things are going, we are going to try and and take it easy. We may do a couple more one-offs — maybe some festivals over the next six or eight months. In 2019, we will be closing in on our 50th anniversary, so we are planning some dates and a tour to celebrate that. Right now, we are pretty much laying low and finishing up some solo things before we start that."

In 2017, AEROSMITH announced a run of dates called "Aero-Vederci Baby!", but stopped short of calling it a final tour.

"We're always thinking about what to do for a tour," singer Steven Tyler explained. "And so many bands have said 'This is our last tour' to generate tickets and all that stuff — bands that have been around as long as we have. So we figured, we're going to Europe, we're gonna do whatever we're doing here, and people haven't seen us for a while, so how about throwing that kind of mysticism out? And 'Aero-Vederci' says it but it doesn't say it. It's like 'hello goodbye' in one beautiful — where Joe and I came from — Italian saying."

"I don't actually feel like we're gonna be shutting the whole thing down at the end of it," guitarist Brad Whitford later said. "I think there's a lot more life in the band. But I guess you've got to start somewhere. So we're just starting to put the farewell label on things."

AEROSMITH hasn't released a new studio album since 2012's "Music From Another Dimension!"

Perry issued a solo disc, titled "Sweetzerland Manifesto", on January 19.
