ABBATH To Begin Recording Second Album Next Month

ABBATH To Begin Recording Second Album Next Month

ABBATH, the solo project of former IMMORTAL frontman Abbath (real name Olve Eikemo), will enter Dub Studios in Kristiansand, Norway on December 3 to begin recording its second album. Helming the effort will be producer Endre Kirkesola, who has previously worked with BLOOD RED THRONE, GREEN CARNATION, SIRENIA and IN VAIN, among others.

ABBATH's sophomore album will not feature the contributions of bassist King Ov Hell, who left the Norwegian black metal band in June. The musician, whose real name is Tom Cato Visnes, announced at the time that he was exiting the group "due to conflicting views on lyrical concepts of the upcoming disc." Claiming that the lyrics to ABBATH's new LP were inspired by Swiss psychiatrist Carl Gustav Jung, King said that he found "Jung's connection to Christian mysticism… incompatible with the image of the band."

King said in the statement: "I wish members of the actual band, label, and crew all the best for the upcoming shows and album. The music itself is nothing short of brilliant. However, I must maintain artistic integrity and respectfully step aside."

King Ov Hell appeared on ABBATH's self-titled debut, which came out in 2016. He has also played with GORGOROTH, GOD SEED and AUDREY HORNE.

SOILWORK Explains 'Verkligheten' Album Title In Latest Trailer

The second trailer for SOILWORK's 11th studio album, "Verkligheten", can be seen below. The disc is SOILWORK's first to feature drummer Bastian Thusgaard, who replaced Dirk Verbeuren in 2016. In the trailer, Thusgaard and singer Björn "Speed" Strid talk about choosing a Swedish album title and the artwork of "Verkligheten".

"Verkligheten" will be released on January 11, 2019 via Nuclear Blast. The first-edition digipack, as well as the vinyl versions, will also contain the exclusive "Underworld" EP, containing four more songs. The digipack version will also feature special artwork with lavish foil print.

The album as well as accompanying merchandise is now available for pre-order in various formats (digipack + t-shirt, digipack, black/orange/purple vinyl as well as digital download/stream).

"Verkligheten" track listing:

1. Verkligheten

02. Arrival

03. Bleeder Despoiler

04. Full Moon Shoals

05. The Nurturing Glance

06. When The Universe Spoke

07. Stålfågel (feat. Alissa White-Gluz)

08. The Wolves Are Back In Town

"Underworld" bonus EP track listing:

13. Summerburned And Winterblown

14. In This Master's Tale

15. The Undying Eye

16. Needles And Kin (original version)

Strid told United Rock Nations about the disc. "I'm really, really pleased with it — it's really, really cool. [It's] possibly the most epic and darkest album we've done. And it's also very melancholic, but it's also very sort of uplifting. It's huge. I'm really happy with it."

Asked if the musical direction of the new SOILWORK material is similar to that on the last album, Strid said: "I would say a mixture between 'The Ride Majestic' and [2013's] 'The Living Infinite'."

SOILWORK will embark on an extensive European co-headlining run with labelmates AMORPHIS in January. Support on the trek will come from NAILED TO OBSCURITY and JINJER.

SOILWORK is now a quintet, following the departure of bassist Markus Wibom in late 2016 due to "other commitments." He has since been replaced by touring bassist Taylor Nordberg (THE ABSENCE).

In 2016, SOILWORK released a special collection of rarities titled "Death Resonance" via Nuclear Blast.

SOILWORK is:

Björn "Speed" Strid - Vocals

Sven Karlsson - Keyboards

David Andersson - Guitars

Sylvain Coudret - Guitars

Bastian Thusgaard - Drums

STATUS QUO's FRANCIS ROSSI Announces Album, Autobiography And Spoken-Word Tour

STATUS QUO's FRANCIS ROSSI Announces Album, Autobiography And Spoken-Word Tour

STATUS QUO's Francis Rossi is gearing up for a busy 2019. He has confirmed the release of a collaborative album with vocalist Hannah Rickard, a brand-new autobiography written with Mick Wall, and a spoken-word U.K. tour that will see him and Wall tour the country discussing the guitarist's illustrious career and taking questions from fans.

"We Talk Too Much" is the title of the album by ROSSI/RICKARD. The pair met when Hannah Rickard worked with STATUS QUO on the hugely successful "Aquostic" projects.

Reconnecting with one of Rossi's true loves, this is a collection of country-flavored duets and is due for release on March 15, 2019 via earMUSIC.

Featuring all brand-new material, and boasting writing credits for Rossi and Rickard as well as QUO stalwart Bob Young, this album has been a true labor of love.

b>"We Talk Too Much" track listing:

01. I'll Take You Home (Rossi/Rickard)

02. I've Tried Letting It Go (Rossi/Rickard)

03. Oughta Know By Now (Rossi/Rickard)

04. But I Just Said Goodbye (Rossi/Young)

05. Waiting For Jesus (Hannah Rickard/Howard Rickard)

06. I'm Only Happy (Rossi/Rickard)

07. Rearrange (Rossi/Frost)

08. I Talk Too Much (Rossi/Young)

09. Heartbreaker (Hannah Rickard/Howard Rickard)

10. Good Times Bad Times (Rossi/Rickard/Young)

11. Sinking In Blue (Rossi/Young)

12. Maybe Tomorrow (Rossi/Rickard)

Rossi's autobiography, "I Talk Too Much", will be published on March 14, 2019 by Little, Brown. This gripping brand-new book has been created in conjunction with award-winning writer and broadcaster Mick Wall, who has sold more than 1 million books.

In this explosive new memoir, the famously indiscreet Rossi reveals the true-life stories behind his unbelievable career. Painfully honest at times, the book covers the glory years, the dark days, the ups and downs of his relationship with the late Rick Parfitt and the real stories behind the creation of some of the greatest rock music of all time.

Francis will share the extraordinary secrets of his 50-plus years in rock and roll when he takes to the stage for an intimate evening at 36 theatres across the U.K.

Kicking off on March 20, 2019 in Whitley Bay and culminating on May 20, 2019 in King's Lynn, the "I Talk Too Much" tour will feature Francis — joined by Mick Wall — sharing some of the best rock and roll stories ever, accrued during an extraordinary life on the road. Expect laughter, revelations, tales involving some of the giants of music, exclusive video clips, snatches of classic tunes and a great night out.

Rossi said: "This show is something new for me. It will be live and unscripted, so god knows what could happen! One thing's for sure though, it'll be a white-knuckle ride for me, but fans will get a real unvarnished insight into what’s happened over the years. I'll be taking a guitar along to demonstrate how some of those QUO classics came into being, and hopefully we'll take a few questions from the audience too. It's been quite a journey, there's a lot to share."

Tickets are available, priced £25 and £32.50 for VIPs, who get seats in the front rows, a 10x8 photograph and an exclusive VIP lanyard.

DISTURBED's DAVID DRAIMAN: 'I'm Never Returning To TWITTER'

DISTURBED's DAVID DRAIMAN: 'I'm Never Returning To TWITTER'

DISTURBED singer David Draiman says that he is "never returning to Twitter," three years after deleting his account on the social media platform.

Draiman, who once said that he spent more time on the Internet communicating with his fanbase than any other musician, told Loudwire that he is not longer able to keep in contact with his fans as much as he used to. "No, I can't on the same level, by any means, and it's unfortunate," he said (see video below). "It's also a matter of just pure numbers. Once it got to a point where I could no longer handle it in terms of sheer volume and size, it became a daunting thing — it became something that actually came between me and my wife; I spent so much time on it."

He continued: "The water has been poisoned for quite some time as far as interaction is concerned. Social media has become a high school playground where the challenge is what idiot can come up with the best insult, and do you end up congratulating 'em for it. It's really sad. Either that or people just pushing their own respective ideas on everyone, trying to shove everything down everybody else's throats, and so much elitism and so much lack of camaraderie and lack of unity. It's become a very, very ugly thing."

Pressed about whether he has plans to one day reopen an official Twitter account, Draiman said: "No, never. I'm never returning to Twitter."

his past August, Draiman admitted to SiriusXM Octane that while he does not have an official presence on Twitter, he still uses the platform "as a news tool. I still have a 'shadow' Twitter account," he explained. "But I don't tweet, I don't spew anything. It's just there for me to be able to get my news."

Draiman has in the past battled with Twitter trolls who have harassed him about his sometimes-controversial views regarding Israel and its ongoing conflict with the Palestinians. Draiman has had frequent heated exchanges with followers on Twitter, some of whom believe that Israel is not blameless in the ongoing conflict with Palestinians.

Draiman, the son of Israelis and the grandson of Holocaust survivors, spent much of 2014 and early 2015 linking to articles by conservative and pro-Israel blogs and has often used his fame to speak out against anti-Semitism.

TED NUGENT Says 'Canada Is Absolutely Crazy' For Legalizing Recreational Marijuana

TED NUGENT Says 'Canada Is Absolutely Crazy' For Legalizing Recreational Marijuana

Ted Nugent says that "Canada is absolutely crazy" for its decision to legalize marijuana, explaining that he has "never seen one moment of positive outcome from someone getting high."

Starting in October, Canada became the highest-profile country to not only decriminalize cannabis possession and use, but to tax, regulate and monitor its growth, distribution and sale.

Though a majority of the states of the United States of America have adopted some form of legal weed, marijuana remains illegal at the federal level in the USA.

Asked if he would welcome American cannabis legalization or if "Canada is crazy" to sanction a fully legal recreational marijuana marketplace, Nugent told "Rock Talk With Mitch Lafon" (hear audio below): "Canada is absolutely crazy. I love my Canadian friends, but [Canadian Prime Minister Justin] Trudeau is comfortably numb, and when you're comfortably numb, you make stupid decisions. And I would just propose to you that after 70 years of an American Dream, of being the best that I can be and forced by disciplining parents that loved me to be the best that I can be, I have never seen one moment of positive outcome from someone getting high."

e continued: "Who do you want high? Your babysitter? How about your kids' school bus driver? How about your pilot? How about your dentist comfortably numb? How about the cops high?

"It's unbelievable that you could possibly witness the heartbreak and destroyed lives from people being comfortably numb and high, and the loss of life and the loss of dignity in the tragic vapor trail of substance abuse, and then actually pursue it," he said.

"I'm all for medical marijuana, I'm all for medical anything, as long as it's really beneficial to people suffering from health issues, but to legalize recreational comfortably numb is a guaranteed script for ruined lives," Nugent argued.

"The recreational drug legalization in Colorado has created a near-two-hundred-percent increase in highway fatalities and injuries and just all kinds of tragedy and heartbreak and ruined lives and destruction. I'm not for any of that. I'm for being the best that you can be, which can only be accomplished when you call upon all your gifts from God to maximize your awareness, your conscientious behavior and accountable conduct, so that you can be an asset to your family, neighbors, fellow man and the good earth, instead of a comfortably numb liability.

"Now, people will squawk and piss and moan that I'm a nasty guy and I'm against freedom and against individual choice," Nugent added. "Well, I'm all for freedom, but if that includes shitting in the water upstream from my pursuit of happiness, you're gonna have to relocate your shitting procedures. You can't poop upstream from my American Dream, or my Canadian Dream. You have to poop somewhere where it doesn't flow downstream to other people's lives. And in the use and the abuse of substances, I'm sorry — there are no winners. Period."

Although Canada became the second country to make it legal for adults to buy, grow and consume small amounts of marijuana, it also made it a crime to give it to anyone younger than 19 or 18, depending on the province, and set a penalty of up to 14 years in prison for doing so, according to The New York Times.

Nugent is promoting his latest album, "The Music Made Me Do It", which was released on November 9 via Round Hill Records. Ted's first studio album in four years features Greg Smith (BILLY JOEL, ALICE COOPER, RITCHIE BLACKMORE'S RAINBOW) on bass, Jason Hartless (JOE LYNN TURNER, MITCH RYDER) on drums, and the Motor City Madman himself on lead guitar and vocals.

DREAM THEATER To Perform Entire 1999 Concept Album 'Metropolis Pt. 2: Scenes From A Memory' On Upcoming Tour

DREAM THEATER To Perform Entire 1999 Concept Album 'Metropolis Pt. 2: Scenes From A Memory' On Upcoming Tour

Progessive metal giants DREAM THEATER recently announced the first dates for the "Distance Over Time" world tour, which is also being billed as a 20th-anniversary celebration of the band's fifth album, 1999's "Metropolis Pt. 2: Scenes From A Memory". Asked by Rolling Stone if DREAM THEATER will play the whole record at each show, guitarist John Petrucci said: "We are. The tour is going to be 'An Evening With,' and part of the evening will be playing some of the new record and some older songs in our catalog, and then also playing 'Scenes From A Memory' in its entirety. So it going to be a lot of fun. And that was a really important record for us, speaking of storytelling and all that. Because it was our first concept record."

Petrucci said that "Metropolis Pt. 2" was significant for him because "it was our first album with [keyboardist] Jordan [Rudess], so that was important. And it was the first album where we didn't use an outside producer. I remember back then having a conversation with Mike [original DREAM THEATER drummer Mike Portnoy] where we said, 'Let's not do that anymore. Let's produce ourselves.' And we basically have ever since. So in that respect, 'Scenes From A Memory' might have actually been a record that was a reaction to the previous one. And then we also figured that we hadn't done a concept album yet, and we decided that it was time. It was like, let's make our 'Operation: Mindcrime', our 'Tommy', our 'The Wall'. It was definitely a conscious decision to do something bold and new and different."

DREAM THEATER will release its 14th studio album, "Distance Over Time", on February 22, 2019. The artwork was created by long-time cover collaborator Hugh Syme (RUSH, IRON MAIDEN, STONE SOUR). The disc was produced by Petrucci, mixed by Ben Grosse and mastered by Tom Baker.

"Distance Over Time" will mark DREAM THEATER's first album for Sony Music's progressive imprint InsideOut Music. The group spent the past 25 years recording under various labels in the Warner Music Group system, most recently Roadrunner Records, which released five albums by the band between 2007 and 2016.

he "Distance Over Time" tour of North America kicks off on March 20, 2019 in San Diego, California. The tour will run for seven weeks before wrapping up in Mexico City on May 4, 2019. Information on tickets for all upcoming shows as well as VIP packages can be found at DreamTheater.net.

THE QUIREBOYS' U.K. Tour To Go Ahead Despite Equipment Theft

THE QUIREBOYS' U.K. Tour To Go Ahead Despite Equipment Theft

THE QUIREBOYS have vowed to carry on with their U.K. tour after some of their equipment was stolen.

The band's storage unit in Bedford was broken into and various pieces of music equipment and personal belongings were swiped.

According to BBC News, some of the equipment, including pedal boards and amplifiers worth "thousands", was later found dumped in a car park. But two vintage guitars are still still missing.

The theft was discovered on Thursday after THE QUIREBOYS returned from Norway following a run of European shows.

At one point we thought we wouldn't be able to go ahead with our U.K. tour," guitarist Paul Guerin told BBC News. "But thankfully, most of the stuff has been found now and we've been overwhelmed by the support of people who offered to help us with replacements.

"A Facebook post about what happened has had more than 3,000 shares and it's been really humbling to have had such an unbelievable response from companies and people we don't even know who wanted to help."

Items stolen included merchandise, a pedal board, tuners, digital delay and a suitcase containing Guerin's clothes for the tour, which starts in Leeds on Thursday.

THE QUIREBOYS will release their new album, "Amazing Disgrace", on February 8, 2019.

Quireboys Equipment Stolen
As you may have heard, The Quireboys storage unit has been broken into and many of the bands music equipment and personal belongings have been stolen. This happened in Tavistock Street, Bedford. All the info about this can be heard on the live interview on BBC3 with Guy. Please keep your eyes open and hopefully between us all, we can recover these items.Posted by The Quireboys - This Is Rock And Roll on Tuesday, November 13, 2018

JOEY JORDISON Says VIMIC Is 'Still One Hundred Percent Active'

JOEY JORDISON Says VIMIC Is 'Still One Hundred Percent Active'

Joey Jordison says that his band VIMIC is still "one hundred percent active" despite the fact that the group's Facebook page hasn't been updated in a year.

Jordison formed VIMIC in May 2016 after the breakup of his previous band SCAR THE MARTYR. The former SLIPKNOT drummer later said that he wanted to change the name of the project to "wipe the slate clean" and start afresh.

Joey is joined in VIMIC by vocalist Kalen Chase, guitarists Jed Simon and Steve Marshall, bassist Kyle Konkiel and keyboardist Matt Tarach.

In October 2017, it was announced that VIMIC had signed a global deal with Universal Music Enterprises (UMe) and T-Boy Records, UMe's label partnership with rock manager Andy Gould. The band's debut album, "Open Your Omen", was set to be produced by Jordison and Kato Khandwala (MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE, THE PRETTY RECKLESS), with mixing and mastering assistance from MEGADETH's Dave Mustaine, who guested on "Open Your Omen"'s first single, "Fail Me (My Temple)".

b>Jordison, who recently completed a European tour with the international death metal supergroup SINSAENUM, was asked about VIMIC's status in a brand new interview with Australia's "Wall of Sound: Up Against The Wall" podcast. He said (hear audio below): "Oh, VIMIC still exists — one hundred percent. It hasn't gone anywhere. That band's not broken up; it's one hundred percent still in existence. We're just… Right now, you've gotta go where the opportunity is available. And VIMIC is still one hundred percent active."

VIMIC supported MEGADETH on several South American tour dates in October 2017.

Jordison recently confirmed that he is working on his first-ever book. The 43-year-old musician's memoir will arrive several years after he overcome the neurological condition acute transverse myelitis, an inflammation of the spinal cord which damages nerve fibers, which ultimately led to the drummer temporarily losing the use of his legs.

Jordison, SLIPKNOT's drummer from 1995 to 2013, revealed his fight with the seldom-seen neuro-immune disorder more than two years ago while appearing at the Metal Hammer Golden Gods Awards in London, England. He later claimed that he was visited by only one member of SLIPKNOT while he was in the hospital battling the disease. He also said that SLIPKNOT fired him because "they thought I was fucked up on drugs."

So The Spartan summoned two attendants: From the seventh circle of hell, the Queen Of The Damned arises to lend her voice to the Warkings! Hear (and watch) her in the video below. For the album Reborn that appears next Friday, Odin sent another of his disciples for the song. Stay tuned!

I FIGHT BEARS Release Cover Of SPANDAU BALLET Classic "Gold" With Band's Blessing

I FIGHT BEARS Release Cover Of SPANDAU BALLET Classic "Gold" With Band's Blessing

Louder has drawn attention to UK metalcore crew I Fight Bears, who have covered the Spandau Classic from 1983, "Gold".

Vocalist / bassist Drew Hamley spoke with Louder about the cover: "There's this awesome party that happens at the end of every year with Bridgend Tattoo Studio where musicians from all levels (previously including members of Bullet From My Valentine, Phil Campbell and The Bastard Sons, Those Damn Crows) get up and play an interesting cover song at the party. I Fight Bears were asked to perform two songs at the party in 2017. We nailed down one of the songs but were struggling for a second until Chris our guitarist suggested doing a cover of Spandau Ballet's classic song, 'Gold'. We all loved the idea. He came back with an amazing metal rendition of the song in our style. We developed it further, reworking the vocals to have singing and screaming and played the song at the party.

Everybody loved it, so we played it again at some other shows. We went into the recording room to get the song produced properly and then approached Gary Kemp and Spandau Ballet to see if they would give us permission to release it. They loved it and agreed to allow us to release it with their backing, which is incredible."

The cover will be available to stream and download from all major digital services as of November 16th. Check it out below.

LIMP BIZKIT To Begin Recording New Album

LIMP BIZKIT To Begin Recording New Album

LIMP BIZKIT is preparing to enter the studio to begin recording its sixth studio album.

Guitarist Wes Borland said in an Instragram post that the original plan was to start the follow-up to 2011's "Gold Cobra" last weekend, but wildfires in Southern California forced him and his bandmates to delay the process by a few days.

Borland says: "Getting warmed up to actually make a brand new LIMP BIZKIT album. We would have started last Saturday but were displaced by the fires and lost some gear. Getting back on our feet and in the studio within the week."

Earlier this week, Wes posted a video of a home on fire, saying: "My pedalboard, two guitars, two amps, a 2x12 cabinet, several other pedals and misc equipment were inside this house." LIMP BIZKIT frontman Fred Durst also implied on Instagram that he lost his home in the flames.

ince the arrival of "Gold Cobra" seven years ago, LIMP BIZKIT issued four singles and promised to release a full-length collection of new material called "Stampede Of The Disco Elephants". That album never surfaced.

LIMP BIZKIT and Lil Wayne's collaborative single, "Ready To Go", was made available in July 2013. The track was released via Cash Money, Lil Wayne's longtime record company.

LIMP BIZKIT in 2011 parted ways with Interscope, the label that released all of the band's records thus far through its subsidiaries Flip, Geffen and Suretone Records.

Watch Pro-Shot Video Of GREAT WHITE Performing 'Lady Red Light' With New Singer MITCH MALLOY

Watch Pro-Shot Video Of GREAT WHITE Performing 'Lady Red Light' With New Singer MITCH MALLOY

GREAT WHITE has released a performance video of the song "Lady Red Light", featuring the band's latest addition, singer Mitch Malloy. The clip was filmed on August 18 at the Kentucky State Fair at Kentucky Exposition Center in Louisville, Kentucky.

GREAT WHITE guitarist Mark Kendall told KBACK Radio that the band wanted to make "a proper video and record a show with something other than a cellphone to kind of introduce Mitch. And our [booking] agent will use it for this and that, and we'll just throw it out there free — it's nothing we're gonna really put together to sell or anything; we just want people to see it properly and hear how it sounds at the show," he said. "Because when you hear a cellphone [recording], the guy [filming] might be over by the bass player's side and it might distort a little bit. So it really isn't a great representation, although we welcome the cellphones — I don't care if everybody holds 'em up and records us — but it's not really a great representation of what happened that night."

In early July, GREAT WHITE announced that it was parting ways with vocalist Terry Ilous and was replacing him with Malloy.

"[Mitch] is an incredible singer, artist, songwriter and engineer," Kendall said. "We're beyond excited to stretch our musical muscles with a fresh, new take on GREAT WHITE's catalog of hits."

dded Malloy: "I have to represent this music honorably. I respect what has come before me, and have to remind fans of where they were when they first heard these songs. I also have to be myself at the same time. When I first heard my own voice with GREAT WHITE's music, I knew something special was going on."

Keyboardist/guitarist Michael Lardie praised Malloy for his musical chops and reputation.

"We had an immediate rapport with Mitch," Lardie said. "I'm positive the fans will embrace Mitch and continue to support GREAT WHITE. This music is bigger than any one person."

Ilous, formerly of '80s L.A. hard rockers XYZ, joined GREAT WHITE in 2010 after stepping in for touring vocalist Jani Lane (WARRANT).

The Ilous-led GREAT WHITE released two albums, 2012's "Elation" and last year's "Full Circle", before Terry was shown the door.

This version of GREAT WHITE is not to be confused with JACK RUSSELL'S GREAT WHITE, which features original GREAT WHITE singer Jack Russell alongside Robby Lochner (FIGHT) on guitar, Dan McNay on bass, Tony Montana on guitar and Dicki Fliszar on drums.

JOE PERRY Is 'Doing Well' After Collapsing At BILLY JOEL Concert

JOE PERRY Is 'Doing Well' After Collapsing At BILLY JOEL Concert

AEROSMITH guitarist Joe Perry says that he is "doing well," three days after he was hospitalized following an appearance with Billy Joel.

Only minutes after guesting with Joel on stage on Saturday night (November 10) at Madison Square Garden in New York City, Perry experienced shortness of breath and was treated by paramedics. The legendary rocker, who's now 68, was taken out of the Garden on a stretcher after paramedics worked on him in his dressing room, reportedly inserting a tracheal tube down his throat at one point.

Earlier today, Perry issued a short update on his health status, tweeting: "Doing well, thanks for all the love and support!"

As most fans will remember, back on July 10, 2016, Perry collapsed during a HOLLYWOOD VAMPIRES gig at Brooklyn, New York's Ford Amphitheater at Coney Island Boardwalk.

b>Alice Cooper, who fronts the all-star covers band, recalled to CBS News at the time that he was unaware that Perry was perhaps not geared up for such a rigorous schedule. "I didn't realize AEROSMITH only did two shows a week. Honestly, I just figured everybody was like me. I do five shows a week, and very physical shows. We were on our eighth show in 10 days. It was pretty brutal. I think [Joe] was dehydrated and basically exhausted. I talked to him before the show and he said, 'I don't think I've eaten anything in three days.' I went, 'Well, that's not smart.'"

Cooper went on to squash the rumors that Perry had collapsed due to a coronary, explaining: "It wasn't his heart, though, and it wasn't anything vital, because four or five days later, he was on stage with us and I'd never seen him look so good."

Perry is scheduled to kick off a solo tour on November 30 in support of his most recent solo album, "Sweetzerland Manifesto".

Doing well, thanks for all the love and support!— Joe Perry (@JoePerry) November 13, 2018

HELIX Drummer Placed In Medically Induced Coma After Fracturing Skull In Fall

HELIX Drummer Placed In Medically Induced Coma After Fracturing Skull In Fall

Greg "Fritz" Hinz, longtime drummer for Canadian hard rockers HELIX, has been placed in a medically induced coma after fracturing his skull in a fall from the roof of his house.

According to HELIX singer Brian Vollmer, Hinz's injuries "are not life-threatening" but doctors are "keeping him in a coma and on breathing tubes until they feel he's all right to come out of it."

As a result of his condition, Hinz — who joined HELIX in 1982 and stayed in the band until 1996, before returning to the group 13 years later — will be unable to play with HELIX at the band's two scheduled gigs in Ontario this weekend. Filling in for him will be Jamie Constance from SYRE.

Vollmer's full message reads as follows: "I want to post this before rumors start flying around.

This morning, shortly after I had just posted a video from yesterday's practice, I received a phone call from Fritz's girlfriend Traci. Fritz had gone out to the front of the house to fix some shingles on the roof. When Traci's sister went out to check on him, he was laying on the front lawn, having fallen from the roof. Luckily, one of the first two people on the scene was a nurse, who immediately phoned 9-1-1. He had a seizure on the front lawn and then another on the way to the hospital in Hamilton. They immediately put him in a drug-induced coma with breathing tubes down his throat.

"Over the course of the day, I started to receive as much info as the doctors were giving Traci. It was a day of crying, pacing, and praying. He had hit his head pretty hard on the way down and who knows what else he hit as he fell.

"About an hour ago, Traci phoned me to say that the doctor had told her the injuries are not life-threatening (they think) but regardless, he will have some serious rehab in the future. He fractured his skull and crushed a few vertebrae. The doctors are keeping him in a coma and on breathing tubes until they feel he's alright to come out of it. He's also moving his legs — a good sign.

"Please pray for Fritz tonight, everyone! This weekend will still go on with Jamie Constance from SYRE filling in on drums. I will keep everyone updated on how Fritz is doing. Get well, my brother."

Upcoming HELIX shows:

Nov. 16 - Maxwell's - Waterloo, ON

Nov. 17 - The Brass Monkey - Ottawa, ON

HELIX's latest studio album, "Bastard Of The Blues", came out in 2014.

ANTHRAX's SCOTT IAN: How A Cigarette 'Literally' Saved LEMMY From Having A Part Of His Body Amputated

ANTHRAX's SCOTT IAN: How A Cigarette 'Literally' Saved LEMMY From Having A Part Of His Body Amputated

ANTHRAX guitarist Scott Ian spoke to Landry.Audio about his friendship with iconic MOTÖRHEAD frontman Lemmy Kilmister, who died in December 2015 at the age of 70 shortly after learning he had been diagnosed with cancer. Asked if it became obvious to him that Lemmy was starting to get quite ill in the months leading up to his death, Scott said: "No, he wasn't really that ill yet at that point. He wasn't as healthy as he has been. He had been diagnosed with diabetes at some point, if I remember correctly, so he was battling that. I remember at some point [hearing that] Lemmy switched to vodka. Like, that was news. In the rock world, that was major headline news. I remember hearing that, like, 'Lemmy's got diabetes, and no more Jack-and-Cokes, because of the sugar content. He switched to vodka.' I was, like, 'Wow! After 50 years, that's a big deal.'"

Ian continued: "Look, when a guy like that hits the wall, living the life that he has been living since he was a teenager… The guy had been hitting it hard for 50-odd years already by the time the early two-thousand-teens rolled in. So, eventually you're gonna hit the wall. I don't care who you are — everyone hits the wall. No matter how healthy you are and no matter how fucked up of a life you led and how hard you lived, and when you've lived as hard as Lemmy did, when you hit the wall, it's gonna be worse than the average human."

The guitarist added: "I did spend a lot of time with him over the years; lucky enough for me, it was a privilege to have spent 30-odd years or something knowing him and being friendly with him. And I asked him one time about smoking: 'Do you think you'll ever quit?' or this or that. These are questions he just… there wasn't even an answer to. He wasn't gonna quit smoking; he wasn't gonna quit drinking."

Ian also relayed a story about Lemmy that illustrated how the late MOTÖRHEAD frontman was always willing to deal with the effects of an extreme lifestyle if it meant living his way.

He literally almost lost a couple of toes because when he was in the throes of figuring out the diabetes and all that, a couple of his toes went black from bad circulation and all this," the guitarist said. "And he saw some doctor in L.A., and they were, like, 'Oh, [you must go under the knife] immediately. You're gonna lose the toes,' and this and that. And he was, like, 'I need a second opinion.' And he flew back to London and saw a doctor there. And it was the same kind of thing: 'We need to get these off. It's an emergency.' And it comes to… He goes to have the surgery done and he's sitting in this office and he's smoking a cigarette. And someone tells him, 'You're not allowed to smoke in here. What are you — crazy? You can't smoke in this office.' And he said, 'Well, if I'm gonna fucking lose a toe, I'm gonna have a fucking cigarette.' And long story short, they said, 'You can't smoke in here.' And he said, 'Well, then I won't be in here.' And he left. And he ended up seeing another doctor, and they literally told him, 'You just need to change this or this in your diet, and your feet are gonna be fine.' And he changed his diet, and he didn't have to have his toes cut off. So a cigarette literally saved him from having a part of his body amputated."

Scott added: "That's when he started using Diet Coke instead of regular Coke in his Jack-and-Cokes, I believe. The doctor literally told him: 'Switch to Diet Coke, and you don't have to lose your toes.' [Laughs]"

Lemmy had dealt with several health issues over the last few years of his life, including heart trouble, forcing him to cut back on his famous smoking habits.

MOTÖRHEAD had to cancel a number of shows in 2015 because of Lemmy's poor health, although the band did manage to complete one final European tour a couple of weeks before his death.

DEEP PURPLE's ROGER GLOVER Says Bands Like RIVAL SONS And GRETA VAN FLEET Would Have Been 'Huge' In 1970s

DEEP PURPLE's ROGER GLOVER Says Bands Like RIVAL SONS And GRETA VAN FLEET Would Have Been 'Huge' In 1970s

In a brand new interview with Mexico's MB Live, DEEP PURPLE bassist Roger Glover spoke about the state of today's rock music scene. He said (see video below): "First of all, there's two kinds of music — there's pop music and there's rock music. And they obviously have something to do with each other, but they're very different. And it's also a different time now. And a band like RIVAL SONS or GRETA VAN FLEET, if they were back in the '70s, they'd be huge — top of the charts everywhere. But it's a different world; it's now a world of streaming and a world of likes…

"But there's some great musicians around," he continued. "I listen to music all the time; it's what I do. I don't listen to pop radio; I don't listen to the hits and stuff. I listen to a wide range of music and there's some brilliant musicians around. And it's very difficult for them to make a living. It's because the only thing you can make really a living at — unless you're Beyoncé or someone — is live music, and there aren't that many places to play. When we were growing up, you could five nights or six nights a week — easy."

DEEP PURPLE's "The Long Goodbye" tour started in May 2017 in Europe and included a North American leg with ALICE COOPER and EDGAR WINTER as well as another summer run with JUDAS PRIEST.

The band's latest album, "InFinite", came out in April 2017 via earMUSIC.

b>DEEP PURPLE — which had been eligible for induction into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame for two decades — finally entered the Rock Hall as part of the class of 2016. The band's first three lineups were inducted, including drummer Ian Paice, guitarist Ritchie Blackmore, late keyboardist Jon Lord, and various singers and bassists — Rod Evans; Ian Gillan and Roger Glover; and David Coverdale and Glenn Hughes.

GENE SIMMONS Says KISS's 'End Of The Road' Tour Could Last More Than Three Years

GENE SIMMONS Says KISS's 'End Of The Road' Tour Could Last More Than Three Years

In a brand new interview with KTLA anchor Frank Buckley, KISS bassist and vocalist Gene Simmons was asked if the band's upcoming "End Of The Road" tour will truly be fans' last opportunity to see the iconic rockers perform live. "This is real," he responded (see video below). "Folks play that game," apparently referring to other bands who have announced farewell tours, only to change their minds at a later date. "And I'll tell you why it's real. Because I'm 69; I still have some hair on my head [and] lots more on my back. It has to be [real], because I wear seven-, eight-inch platform boots; our outfits… mine wears at least 40 pounds; I've gotta spit fire and fly through the air and do all that kind of stuff. I don't like heights, so if you put [Mick] Jagger and Bono, who are both great, and you stick 'em in my outfit, they'd pass out in a half hour. We're the hardest-working band in show business — period. This is a good time to go — have some dignity, go when you're doing… So this is gonna be a long tour — two to three years… maybe longer. Two, three years we're gonna stay out there while it's still good. The last thing you wanna do is introduce yourself, and we have been, for 45 years, 'All right' — put in the city — 'you want the best. You've got the best. The hottest band in the world: KISS.' Why would you wanna do that when they [see] four fat guys walk out there with the jowls hanging off of 'em. No, you don't wanna do that."

In September, KISS announced its "End Of The Road" farewell tour on NBC's "America's Got Talent", and two weeks ago, the band revealed the first set of dates and cities in North America, produced by Live Nation. International markets were announced simultaneously.

The North American leg of "End Of The Road" will launch January 31 in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada at Rogers Arena and will hit an additional 43 cities.

As most fans remember, back in 2000 and 2001, KISS already performed a "Farewell Tour". The trek, which was the last to feature both Ace Frehley and Peter Criss, played 142 shows over five legs, covering North America, Japan, and Australia.

b>KISS's current lineup features Simmons, Paul Stanley, Tommy Thayer and Eric Singer.

Stanley has hinted that Frehley and Criss could make appearances on "End Of The Road", but KISS hasn't promised anything beyond a longer set and newly designed band costumes.

Malaysia's Leading Cinema Exhibitor Denies Major Cuts To QUEEN Biopic 'Bohemian Rhapsody'

Malaysia's Leading Cinema Exhibitor Denies Major Cuts To QUEEN Biopic 'Bohemian Rhapsody'

The leading cinema exhibitor in Malaysia has denied that 24 minutes of "Bohemian Rhapsody" have been cut for the film's Malaysian audience.

The Malaysian Film Censorship Board reportedly removed content from the QUEEN biopic that was largely of a homosexual nature, including the music video for "I Want To Break Free" and the scene where singer Freddie Mercury explains to his fiancée, Mary Austin, that he is bisexual.

However, GSC issued a statement earlier today maintaining that the runtime of "Bohemian Rhapsody" in Malaysia is just three minutes shorter than the U.S. version, despite the web sites of GSC and other cinema chains like TGV stating runtimes of 134 and 135 minutes, respectively.

"The runtime for #BohemianRhapsody in Malaysia is 131 minutes. The runtime in the US is 134 minutes. So it's DEFINITELY NOT 20 MINUTES CUT. So (fill in the blank), get the facts right," GSC said on its Facebook page, signing off with "Love, #GSCAdmin". The cinema chain also clarified that it had no say in censorship, saying: "This is between the studio and the censorship board. Cinemas can't do censorship. We are only playing the content."

n addition to the shorter runtime, the movie has been stamped with an 18 rating, in contrast to the PG-13 rating in the United States and United Kingdom.

"Bohemian Rhapsody", starring "Mr. Robot"'s Rami Malek as Mercury, earned $30 million in its second weekend to get over the $100 mllion U.S. milestone. The film has earned a whopping $185 million overseas thus far on a $55 million budget.

While many reviews have slammed the film for its uninspired storytelling, some people have also taken issue with the movie's depiction of Mercury's sexuality — or rather, its lack thereof. The biopic focuses heavily on the relationship between him and Austin, who discovers midway through the film that he's cheating on her with other men.

"Bohemian Rhapsody" began production with "X-Men" director Bryan Singer behind the camera, but the filmmaker was fired from the movie after he disappeared from set and caused production delays. Dexter Fletcher, best known for making "Eddie the Eagle", stepped in to replace Singer in the director's chair.

The runtime for #BohemianRhapsody in Malaysia is 131 minutes. The runtime in the US is 134 minutes.

So it's DEFINITELY NOT 20 MINUTES CUT. So (fill in the blank), get the facts right.

Love,
