BURIED ABOVE GROUND Release "Sin Eater" Music Video; Band Prepare For Chaos And Carnage Tour

BURIED ABOVE GROUND Release "Sin Eater" Music Video; Band Prepare For Chaos And Carnage Tour

Buried Above Ground deliver a savage and unrelenting music video for the blistering new track “Sin Eater", which can be viewed below. This is the new face of deathcore, embracing more "aggressive" Americanized heavy metal blended with extreme metal roots.

DJ (guitars) states: "We are extremely excited to share this video with everyone. We have never worked harder or spent more time on a video before. We hope that it is a good visual representation of what we’ve done musically on the album.

"We are currently in Albuquerque NM, and join up to start the Chaos And Carnage Tour tomorrow. Getting to tour with some of the bands we’ve grown up looking up to, is a huge honor to us. We aren’t just on this tour to try and fit in, we want to blow everyone away, and we hope that this tour is just a seed in that process."

The band’s first national tour will be alongside Carnifex, Oceano and Winds of Plague (among many others) on the first annual Chaos And Carnage tour, kicks off today. Dates and additional information can be found here.

SINSAENUM Feat. DRAGONFORCE, Ex-SLIPKNOT Members: 'Repulsion For Humanity' Album Due In August

SINSAENUM Feat. DRAGONFORCE, Ex-SLIPKNOT Members: 'Repulsion For Humanity' Album Due In August

"Repulsion For Humanity", the second album by SINSAENUM, the extreme death metal project featuring DRAGONFORCE bassist Frédéric Leclercq and former SLIPKNOT drummer Joey Jordison, will be released on August 10 via earMUSIC.

As the title clearly indicates, this is not for the faint-hearted. It's definitely not something you will hear on the radio or hear your mother hum over dinner. In fact, it's quite the contrary.

"It's radical, it's violent, it's angry — angrier," Frédéric says. "The new album is a continuation of 'Ashes'. In terms of sound and style, we've added more influences to the mix. This album is a hundred percent us — not aimed to please the masses, not following formulas, and not made to fit radio criteria. From the artwork (made by Travis Smith), to the lyrics, to the music itself, there isn't an ounce of commercial compromise."

"Repulsion For Humanity" was recorded during the long, dark winter of 2018 while the band shared a house. With the help of Francis Caste on mixing duties, SINSAENUM sharpened its own sonic identity — far from the typical death or modern metal sound.

Jordison says: "In a way, 'Repulsion…' almost feels like this is our first album, because I had the opportunity to record my drum tracks in France with the band present this time. Them giving me ideas and being able to construct the tracks together as a band made for a killer foundation for the rest to build upon. This album is lethal, and the songwriting has evolved immensely."

"This is by far the heaviest, brutal, most amazing album I've ever been a part of," adds vocalist Sean Zatorsky. "The riffs are so fucking sick that they inspired me to vocally do things I have never been able to do but always wanted to — literally. I held nothing back because the music held nothing back."

For the first time since its formation, SINSAENUM will go on tour in Europe this September.

SINSAENUM's latest release is the "Ashes" EP, which came out last November via earMUSIC.

Joining Leclercq (guitar), Jordison (drums) and Zatorsky (DÅÅTH, ex-CHIMAIRA; vocals) in the band are Stéphane Buriez (guitar), Attila Csihar (MAYHEM) on vocals, and Heimoth (SETH) on bass.

LORDS OF BLACK Feat. RAINBOW Singer RONNIE ROMERO: 'World Gone Mad' Video

LORDS OF BLACK Feat. RAINBOW Singer RONNIE ROMERO: 'World Gone Mad' Video

"World Gone Mad", the new video from Spanish melodic progressive metal masters LORDS OF BLACK — who feature in their ranks new RAINBOW singer Ronnie Romero — can be seen below. The song is taken from LORDS OF BLACK's third album, "Icons Of The New Days", which will be released on May 11 via Frontiers Music Srl.

After two critically acclaimed albums, the self-titled debut and sophomore effort "II", it was time for LORDS OF BLACK to craft its all-important third disc. With the anticipation created by the album's predecessors and Romero's selection as the singer for Ritchie Blackmore's RAINBOW reunion, expectations are high and the pressure is on for the band to deliver. Have they?

"Icons Of The New Days" is more than enough proof that yes, the band has indeed delivered in spades. LORDS OF BLACK has crafted a collection of amazing songs that draw from the influences of traditional heavy metal with elements of progressive metal thrown in the mix with robust production showcasing all the member's talents. Guitarist Tony Hernando, drummer Andy C., bassist Dani Criado and Romero are indeed a rising force to be reckoned with in the modern metal scene.

Tracks like the incredible album opener "World Gone Mad" along with "Not In A Place Like This" and the title track set the bar high for an album that is going to be a contender for metal album of the year. "Forevermore" and "The Way I'll Remember" are simply stunning and powerful metal tunes such as "When A Hero Takes A Fall" and "Wait No Prayers For The Dying" will cause you to thrust your fist to the sky. As has become the band's tradition, epic songs like "King's Reborn" and "All I Have Left", the longest song ever written by LORDS OF BLACK, anchor the proceedings.

Once again produced by Tony Hernando and Roland Grapow (who also handled mixing and mastering duties), the album's quality of the song arrangements are another decisive factor in the greatness on display here. Last but not least, Felipe Machado has delivered another stunning album cover.

NOTHGARD Signs With METAL BLADE RECORDS

NOTHGARD Signs With METAL BLADE RECORDS

Metal Blade Records has announced the signing of German epic melodic death metallers NOTHGARD. The quartet is recording its new album for a late 2018 release.

Comments NOTHGARD singer/guitarist Dom R. Crey: "We are really happy to announce the signing with the renowned label Metal Blade Records. For years, we have had an eye on the countless and fantastic releases Metal Blade has launched. Eventually we can call ourselves part of this family, something that makes us really proud. We are looking forward to a great collaboration and cannot wait to usher into a new era of NOTHGARD."

Dom stated about the upcoming NOTHGARD disc: "In the history of the band, we have never worked harder on an album. And, to be honest, we never had a clearer view on our approach of composing and on our sound. We listened to both our fans and ourselves. We have clearly analyzed our strength and how to transfer this awareness to our material. Right now tons of work are still laying ahead of us and in the end our fans will judge the result. But let me tell you: as a band, we are more than happy about the outcome so far and can't wait to present it to the rest of the world!"

Founded in 2008 by Crey, NOTHGARD dragged along the winning ways since their debut album, "Warhorns Of Midgard", from 2011. The high technical quality of their guitar work and the epic orchestration of their melodic death metal is exciting to fans and critics alike. In 2014, the band released another epic milestone of deadly metal, memorable melodies and influences from both neo-classical and folk music called Age Of Pandora. After the release, NOTHGARD finally signed to Noise Art Records who released the band's latest album, "The Sinner's Sake", their most serious approach yet to enter the melodic death metal throne. On "The Sinner's Sake", deadly riffs meet playful, catchy lead guitars, while the epic orchestration arranges for a cinematic atmosphere that will bring goosebumps to your skin! Completed by Dom R. Crey's raw vocals, NOTHGARD's sound is both stormy-spectacular and full of a sublime atmosphere.

NOTHGARD is:

Dom R. Crey - Vocals, Lead Guitar, Studio Keyboards

Skaahl - Guitar

Nico Kolja - Bass

Felix Indra - Drums

SEAR BLISS To Release 'Letters From The Edge' Album In The Summer

SEAR BLISS To Release 'Letters From The Edge' Album In The Summer

Long-running Hungarian atmospheric black metal band SEAR BLISS has signed with Hammerheart Records. The group, which is celebrating its 25th anniversary, will release its eighth album, "Letters From The Edge", in the summer.

SEAR BLISS vocalist and leader András Nagy said: "It's been a while since our last album was released. Many things happened... some good, some bad. Then, since the year 2015 things started to roll again and we built a pretty solid lineup. We had lots of live shows all over Europe and in 2016 we celebrated the 20th anniversary of our debut album, 'Phantoms', with a memorable tour. As the chemistry in the band grew, we went to an abandoned castle to write new songs in January 2017. Most of the songs of the album were written there, yet the recordings/mixing took nearly a year by the supervision of producer Viktor Scheer. The album was mastered by mastermind Dan Swanö.

"We have put an enormous amount of effort into these songs, and I know it's lame to say, but I do believe this album is going to be the definitive SEAR BLISS record. I know it, because I only felt this when we made our first album back in 1996.

"To me, 'Letters From The Edge' is kind of a synthesis of all what SEAR BLISS is about. 25 years of exploring our borders.

"We are glad to work with Hammerheart Records on this, a label we always respected."

Hammerheart Records' Guido Heijnens said: "SEAR BLISS is a band that has been around for over 20 years, and I have always kept an eye on them since their legendary demo. I have heard the new record and it is indeed their defnitive recording, a dark and heavy recording, powerful and memorable and anyone into bands as ROTTING CHRIST and TRYPTIKON will embrace it!"

"Letters From The Edge" track listing:

01. Crossing The Frozen River

02. Forbidden Doors

03. Seven Springs

04. A Mirror In The Forest

05. Abandoned Peaks

06. Haven

07. The Main Divide

08. Leaving Forever Land

09. At The Banks Of Lethe

10. Shroud

DOOMSDAY OUTLAW Debut "Bring It On Home" Music Video

DOOMSDAY OUTLAW Debut "Bring It On Home" Music Video

Doomsday Outlaw will release their new album, Hard Times, on May 11th. The band have released a video for the song "Bring It On Home", which is available for streaming below. Order the album here, or via PledgeMusic.

Doomsday Outlaw is a ten-legged hard rock, blues tinged juggernaut based in darkest Derbyshire. Coupling huge riffs and killer grooves with soaring, soulful vocals to deliver timeless tales of heartbreak and redemption, the group is set to show off its distinctive sound to the legions of hard rock faithful around the globe via a new album, Hard Times, which is set for worldwide release in May.

Doomsday Outlaw vocalist Phil Poole says: "Not wanting to sound clichéd, but we’re so excited to be sharing our new album with the world. We’ve given everything to create something we are really proud of and having the opportunity to share it is really what's it's all about. Whether you buy the record, just listen to it, or come and see us live, getting feedback from fans is amazing and is a feeling that never gets old. This is a big year for us and we can't wait to get cracking. Look out for some big announcements coming your way and we'll see you on the road! Much love."

Drummer John Willis adds : “Phil is our ace in the hole. Everything else was in place with the songwriting and performance, but Phil has helped take the band to the next level.”

Poole joined the already well-oiled quartet of Steve Broughton and Gavin Mills (guitars), John ‘Ironfoot' Willis (drums) and Indy (bass) in June 2015, after which the band really gelled as a cohesive unit. Wasting no time in crafting a killer new set, they subsequently hit the road and have shared stages with the likes of Stone Broken, Warrior Soul, Vintage Caravan and Electric Boys.

LITA FORD To Release 'Surprise' Single In July

LITA FORD To Release 'Surprise' Single In July

Lita Ford has told Digital Journal in a new interview that she is planning to release a standalone song this summer. "We have a single that is a surprise for the fans, which is really cool," she revealed. "It will be out on 4th of July and it is bad to the bone, and I am really proud of it. It's a cover tune. It is going to hit home with a lot of people."

Lita has spent the last few months working on new music with guitarist/producer Gary Hoey, who previously collaborated with her on 2012's "Living Like A Runaway" disc.

Last fall, Ford said that her new songs were turning out "pretty badass. It's just been Gary Hoey and I so far," she said. "Him and I get along so well in the studio, it's just ridiculous. I start a sentence and he finishes it. We've really got a feel for music in the studio, so we work well together. And I think he will most likely be the one to finish out the album."

Lita went on to say that she "did write a couple of songs with some other people, which are real good. And we may use them. They need to be remixed — the demos; they're just demos right now — but they do need to be remixed," she said. "Whereas Gary and I, we do a demo and it sounds like a master. So it's going great. I'm excited. I didn't think I was gonna be able to beat 'Living Like A Runaway', but I think I have."

Ford told VintageRock.com in January 2017 that her next album would be "dark" and "riffy" with "lots of guitar." She added: "I'm gonna really let the guitar flow on this one. So that's exciting."

Lita's last release was 2016's "Time Capsule", a collection of songs that were recorded by Ford in the past, but never before made available. "Time Capsule" was tracked after her 1988 "Lita" album — a time when, as Ford put it, "we had a break between recordings and it seemed so many of us were always in the same place, at the same time." Some of the album's featured guests: Billy Sheehan (bass), Rodger Carter (drums), Dave Navarro (mandolin), Jeff Scott Soto (vocals), Rick Nielsen and Robin Zander (backing vocals) and Gene Simmons (bass).

Lita's autobiography, "Living Like A Runaway: A Memoir", was released two years ago via Dey Street Books (formerly It Books), an imprint of HarperCollins Publishers.

GOZU Streaming “Manimal” Single

GOZU Streaming “Manimal” Single

- transparent petrol blue vinyl + download card (limited to 200 copies - EU exclusive)
- olive/black marbled vinyl + download card (limited to 200 copies - EU exclusive)

* exclusive bundles with a shirt, plus digital options are also available.

With roots in 60s psychedelia and classic rock, the fuzzy stoner riffs of the 70s, the grit of 90s grunge and the winning dirty rock n' roll that has in recent years made a resurgence, Gozu has been churning out killer records since 2009. With 2016's Revival they took their sound in a somewhat new and more aggressive direction, and in doing so, dropped the most compulsive, exciting and downright badass release of their career - and Equilibrium has only raised the stakes.

"We wanted these songs to hit a nerve, make people shake their ass and enjoy simply being alive," says vocalist/guitarist Marc "Gaff" Gaffney, who founded the band with lead guitarist Doug Sherman.

Much of the record's strength stems from the unit growing since Revival, the first full-length featuring drummer Mike Hubbard and bassist Joseph Grotto. Having also reunited with Revival producer Dean Baltulonis (Hatebreed/Goes Cube/The Hold Steady) at Wild Arctic Studio in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, the record is certainly the catchiest and most instant music dropped by the quartet, embracing their love of pop music but without compromising on any of the other vital elements of their sound.

Equilibrium tracklisting:

"Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat"
"The People vs. Mr. T"
"King Cobra"
"Manimal"
"They Probably Know Karate"
"Prison Elbows"
"Stacy Keach"
"Ballad Of ODB"

WHITESNAKE To Release 'Shut Up & Kiss Me' Single From 'Flesh & Blood' Album

WHITESNAKE To Release 'Shut Up & Kiss Me' Single From 'Flesh & Blood' Album

WHITESNAKE will release "Shut Up & Kiss Me", the first single from its forthcoming "Flesh & Blood" album, prior to the launch of the band's U.S. tour in June. The follow-up to 2011's "Forevermore" is tentatively due this summer via Frontiers Music Srl.

WHITESNAKE filmed a music video for "Shut Up & Kiss Me" on March 10. "It's a kick-ass song; you're gonna love it," frontman David Coverdale told SiriusXM's "Trunk Nation". "But there's gonna some real fun elements paying respect and nod to WHITESNAKE's past, but certainly not as dark and as gritty as [WHITESNAKE's] 'Burn' video [from 'The Purple Album']."

Coverdale said that "Flesh & Blood" will "be the best WHITESNAKE album. I know that's clichéd stuff, but I know what I'm talking about. I should do after almost 50 years," he explained.

According to Coverdale, the new disc "has all the necessary WHITESNAKE elements that I need to call it WHITESNAKE, but with a vibrant, fresh coat of paint." The record will mark the first time he has written with WHITESNAKE guitarists Reb Beach and Joel Hoekstra. "The longest-standing member of WHITESNAKE, Reb Beach, [he and I had] never written together until this project," he said. "So it's a family affair. It really is cool. I'm very excited for people to hear it."

Coverdale revealed that recording sessions for the new WHITESNAKE album were halted while he recovered from an illness last year. "I got that horrible H3 flu, which took me out for, I think, about six weeks before I started to feel like myself again," he said. "It was horrifying. It was that strain of flu that the anti-flu vaccination didn't cover. It was just an evil, evil, evil strain of flu."

WHITESNAKE will celebrate the release of "Flesh & Blood" by embarking on the "Juke Box Heroes Tour" this summer with FOREIGNER and Jason Bonham. There are also plans for Coverdale to release a deluxe edition of WHITESNAKE's 1984 album, "Slide It In", in the fall, as well as a collection called "Whitesnake Unzipped: Acoustic Journeys Through The Years" in time for Christmas.

WHITESNAKE's latest studio disc, 2015's "The Purple Album", was billed as "a re-imagination of classic songs from Coverdale's time as the lead singer for DEEP PURPLE's Mark III and Mark IV studio albums." Coverdale was DEEP PURPLE's frontman from late 1973 to early 1976 and sang on the albums "Burn", "Stormbringer" and "Come Taste The Band".

THE SEA WITHIN Feat. Members Of TRANSATLANTIC, PAIN OF SALVATION, THE FLOWER KINGS: Debut Album Due In June

THE SEA WITHIN Feat. Members Of TRANSATLANTIC, PAIN OF SALVATION, THE FLOWER KINGS: Debut Album Due In June

THE SEA WITHIN — the new art-rock collective comprise of Roine Stolt (TRANSATLANTIC, THE FLOWER KINGS), Daniel Gildenlöw (PAIN OF SALVATION), Jonas Reingold (STEVE HACKETT, THE FLOWER KINGS, KARMAKANIC, THE TANGENT), Tom Brislin (YES SYMPHONIC, RENAISSANCE, SPIRALING, DEBORAH HARRY) and Marco Minnemann (THE ARISTOCRATS, STEVEN WILSON, UK, JOE SATRIANI) — will release its debut self-titled album on June 22 via InsideOut Music.

Let's get one thing straight from the start. THE SEA WITHIN is more of an amalgamation of some serious talents than a regular "supergroup." These musicians have come together to create a unique album. Guitarist/vocalist Roine Stolt, bassist Jonas Reingold, keyboard player/vocalist Tom Brislin, drummer/vocalist Marco Minnemann and vocalist/guitarist Daniel Gildenlöw have a vast reservoir of experience.

"I suppose it all began to take shape in the autumn of 2016," explains Stolt. "I had a chat with Thomas Waber, the boss at InsideOut Music, about the idea of putting together a new band. I wanted to move in a fresh direction with new collaborations. So Thomas gave me the 'go-ahead' to seek musicians for a new project." First onboard was THE FLOWER KINGS bass player Jonas Reingold. "He is a longtime bandmate and friend and we were also very keen to get keyboardist Tom involved — after seeing his synth pyrotechnics with legends YES 'Symphonic' and with CAMEL. Then we have been a fans of ARISTOCRATS drummer Marco for a long time; I first heard of him 15 years ago and he is a brilliant drummer, unique energy. Then when we discussed ideas for singers, Daniel's name came up, he has such a great range and dynamic voice and we've worked together on and off over the years." Also added later to the band's lineup for live shows was vocalist and guitarist Casey McPherson of FLYING COLORS and ALPHA REV, who also sings a couple of songs on the album.

Initially the band went to Livingston Studios in London last September to begin the process of assembling all the material and recording it for the debut album. "Most of the material you'll hear are really band compositions," says Stolt. "Of course, ideas were triggered by all of us. Sometimes Jonas would come up with a part, chord sequence or tune and then I or Tom would write melody and lyric and some new riff section and Marco enhancing with further musical metric twists and developments. Then Daniel would add or rewrite some of the lyrics, change or add more melodies. Overall, the vast majority of the tracks have been worked on and developed by all of us in one way or another."

The entire recording situation took about six months, and the band also have some very special guests featured on the album.
"We have got Jordan Rudess from DREAM THEATER playing piano on one song," says Stolt. "The legendary Jon Anderson sings on another track, while 'wind ace' Rob Townsend, who plays saxophone and flute with Steve Hackett, is also on the record. Each of them brings a different flavor to the music.

"People have asked me how I would describe what we have done, and it is almost impossible. I would have to say it sounds like…us, THE SEA WITHIN," continued says Stolt. "Our tastes are very eclectic — from prog to jazz to classical, to heavy rock, folk, punk, electronica and pop. We all come from a different background — so here everything goes. This has been about putting those diverse influences into the music. I feel you will hear all that's good about pop — with great melodies and hooks — plus the rawness of metal, improvisations, symphonic and movie soundtracks. We also left room for each of us to take off on flights of instrumental jamming. That was the basic idea, anyway. But until we all got together, we had no idea where it would lead or if it would actually work." The band ended up recording close to two hours of music, and will release it all in June on what will be a self-titled album.

THE SEA WITHIN as a music collective has plans to perform live, and will make its stage debut at Night Of The Prog in Loreley, Germany which happens from July 13-15 and will bring special guests for that evening. "As far as I am concerned, we will try do as much touring as possible," says Stolt. "We have a great band, great label and our agent Rob Palmen onboard. We have great artwork by Marcela Bolivar, all looks bright. However, Daniel will not be able to join us for touring now, as he has commitments with main band PAIN OF SALVATION. With Casey taking the vocal spot, now with us live, we can go out on the road and play this album and beyond and grow as a band. We have so much to offer musically, on record and on stage and I am sure we will develop a lot over the next few years. But 'The Sea Within' album is a great start. I am excited for everyone to hear what we have done and am now thrilled to start working on the songs for the live show."

The album will be available as a special edition 2CD digipak, gatefold 2LP vinyl and 2CD and as digital download.

Watch FOREIGNER Perform 'Say You Will' From 'FOREIGNER With The 21st Century Symphony Orchestra & Chorus'

Watch FOREIGNER Perform 'Say You Will' From 'FOREIGNER With The 21st Century Symphony Orchestra & Chorus'

A performance clip of the song "Say You Will" taken from FOREIGNER's upcoming release, "Foreigner With The 21st Century Symphony Orchestra & Chorus", can be seen below.

"I Want To Know What Love Is", "Cold As Ice", "Waiting For A Girl Like You", "Hot Blooded", "Juke Box Hero". FOREIGNER's timeless anthems continue to rock the charts with 10 multi-platinum albums, 16 Top 30 hits and album sales now exceeding 75 million copies. For the first time ever, FOREIGNER will present all its hits with a 58-piece orchestra and a 60-piece choir with "Foreigner With The 21st Century Symphony Orchestra & Chorus" available on April 27 via earMUSIC.

In May 2017, the band performed two sold-out shows in Lucerne, Switzerland, together with the 21st Century Symphony Orchestra & Chorus, conducted by Ernst Van Tiel. "Foreigner With The 21st Century Symphony Orchestra & Chorus" represents this year-long collaboration between FOREIGNER founding member and lead guitarist Mick Jones and Grammy-nominated composing/arranging team Dave Eggar and Chuck Palmer, exploring the deep symphonic potential of these classic and iconic songs. Eggar, Juilliard protégé and cellist/pianist/composer, and Palmer, producer/writer/percussionist, have toured, performed and recorded with artists such as Paul Simon, James Taylor, Patti Smith, COLDPLAY and many more.

Says Mick Jones: "I could never have imagined when I set out to create FOREIGNER 40 years ago, that we'd still be touring around the world and performing the music we love all these years later. Dave Eggar and Chuck Palmer's orchestral arrangements have shown us a new symphonic dimension of our music, which I hope our fans will enjoy."

OVERKILL Bassist Signs Deal With MIGHTY MUSIC; Solo Album Due In October

OVERKILL Bassist Signs Deal With MIGHTY MUSIC; Solo Album Due In October

OVERKILL songwriter and bassist D.D. Verni will release his debut solo album in October through Mighty Music. The effort features guest appearances by a number of guitarists, including Jeff Loomis (ARCH ENEMY), Angus Clark (TRANS-SIBERIAN ORCHESTRA), Jeff Waters (ANNIHILATOR), Bruce Franklin (TROUBLE), Mike Romeo (SYMPHONY X), Mike Orlando (ADRENALINE MOB), Steve Leonard (ALMOST QUEEN) and Andre "Virus" Karkos (DOPE) who also contributed the rhythm guitar tracks. Rounding out the group is former OVERKILL drummer Ron Lipnicki. The record was mixed and mastered by Chris "Zeuss" Harris (ROB ZOMBIE, QUEENSRŸCHE, HATEBREED). The first single, "Fire Up", features Orlando.

Verni states: "I'm psyched to get this disc out. We had a lot of fun and a lot of great players contributed.

"There's some metal, punk, classic rock... its all in there," he adds. "From QUEEN to GREEN DAY to METALLICA, I think we covered all the bases."

In addition to 18 OVERKILL albums, Verni has four releases with his side band THE BRONX CASKET CO. So why do a solo record? "Well I never really stop writing material, and after some time, it starts to pile up and take shape and I wonder what it will be," he explains.

"In the past, anything that was not OVERKILL material I would put aside for my other band THE BRONX CASKET CO., but when I starting pulling these songs together, it was clearly not that, and I thought, 'Okay, I guess it's a solo record.' The material was kind of metal and kinda rock and kinda punk, so those really are my basic influences. In OVERKILL, I take all that background and funnel it into our thrash sound. But these songs were not thrash but a combination of the other stuff.

"I would never really have an interest in doing a record that was thrash-sounding outside of OVERKILL; I just don't think it could be any better. The fun is trying new shit and seeing where it goes for me.

"I could always do all the instruments myself, as I have in the past on projects, but thought this could be a good opportunity to try working with some new people. My wife was hearing me thinking out loud and basically said, 'Why don't you just call some guys whose work you like and see if they would be interested?' And so that's what I did."

SATAN Signs With METAL BLADE RECORDS; New Album Due Later In 2018

SATAN Signs With METAL BLADE RECORDS; New Album Due Later In 2018

Metal Blade Records has announced the signing of NWOBHM legends SATAN to a multi-album deal.

The heavy metal quintet has just finished recording its new album for a late 2018 release.

Comments SATAN: "Metal Blade is part of SATAN's past and we are super excited for it to be part of our future. It seems so fitting — it's hard to imagine another label that could give us a better platform for our music today."

While standard bearers of the NWOBHM movement and responsible for '83's seminal "Court In the Act" and '87's "Suspended Sentence", with their upcoming album, SATAN make it abundantly clear that in 2018 they are not interested in simply capitalizing on past glories. Comprised of 10 tracks of searing metal, it is blatantly and profoundly the work of the Newcastle upon Tyne natives at their very best, infusing their signature sound with a more raw, wild and spontaneous vibe than they showcased on 2015's mighty "Atom By Atom", in the process displaying more passion and energy than slews of bands half their age.

Having reunited in 2012 and returned to touring duty, SATAN — comprised of six-stringers Russ Tippins and Steve Ramsey, bassist Graeme English, drummer Sean Taylor and vocalist Brian Ross — once more proved their collective mettle with 2013's "Life Sentence" and follow-up "Atom By Atom", both records critically acclaimed and maintaining the high standards of their earlier releases. With such a powerful collection in their hands the band were unsurprisingly eager to take it on the road, and they once again had successful tours and festival runs in Europe, North America and South America, culminating with a slot opening for PENTAGRAM in Helsinki, which Tippins counts as a true honor.

SATAN is:

Russ Tippins - Guitars

KILLING JOKE Announces 'Laugh At Your Peril' 40th-Anniversary World Tour

KILLING JOKE Announces 'Laugh At Your Peril' 40th-Anniversary World Tour

KILLING JOKE will embark on a 40th-anniversary world tour, "Laugh At Your Peril", in the fall. The band will kick off the trek in the United States at the Studio Seven in Seattle on Saturday, September 1 before heading into mainland Europe. This run of 45 shows concludes at the Roundhouse in London on Saturday, November 17.

To celebrate this extensive and ambitious tour, KILLING JOKE has announced the release of a career-spanning, strictly limited-edition flight case, which includes 16 colored double vinyls, a set of headphones, a signed lyric book and assorted pieces of art. The collection will also be available on CD.

"Forty years ago this summer I met Big Paul. One year later, we released our first EP," says frontman Jaz Coleman. "Our 40th-anniversary celebrations will therefore be stretched over two years and begin with a world tour, parties and talks by Youth and myself, a new magnum opus by KILLING JOKE, who is, after all this time, recognized as one of the most innovative and influential bands of all time. Love is the law. Let the festivities begin!"

"Forty years in the wilderness... Thought that was supposed to be 40 days," adds bassist Youth. "As Jaz reminds me, 'Survival is success,' and although the band have never been fiscally fat commercially, it has allowed us to have incredible lives, both individually and collectively, and we have created a very rich wealth of uncompromising music. It's a legacy that spans four decades… 40 years of spine-tingling, uncompromising beautiful noise. The band continue to inspire and bludgeon down the bullshit in the world into a white-hot, blast furnace dub of unrelenting passion, a roller-coaster, white-knuckle punch in the face of beautiful agony/reality and timeless cosmic joy and soul.

"To commit to the creative beauty and vision you have as an artist is an almost perverse way to live a life and the cost and consequences are immense... yet this is how we inform ourselves as a society of what is real and important in a world of fake news and fake emotions. Like Shiva dancing the world into existence, we are all simultaneously destroying and creating every moment of our reality. It is not through politics that the world is changed but through art. Art alone can tell us who we really are — emotionally, intellectually and physically — far better than anything else. That is why we have committed so much, for so long to this one idea... KILLING JOKE. Thanks to all the fans and gatherers that have supported and joined us in this endless quest."

KORN Frontman Kicks Off Solo Tour In Portland (Video)

KORN Frontman Kicks Off Solo Tour In Portland (Video)

KORN frontman Jonathan Davis began his solo tour in support of his forthcoming album, "Black Labyrinth", on Friday (April 6) in Portland, Oregon. Davis's set was weighed heavily in favor of the new LP, along with songs he wrote for the soundtrack of the 2002 movie "Queen Of The Damned" and a cover of Neil Diamond's "Love On The Rocks". He did not perform any material from KORN's catalog.

"Black Labyrinth" will be released on May 25 via Sumerian Records. In addition to the album's well-received first single, "What It Is", which debuted as the No. 1 most added single on rock radio, the new disc includes "Final Days", a melodic and atmospheric track, accentuated by subtle hints of sitar and tabla, the straightforward arena-rock anthem "Underneath My Skin", and 10 other tracks primarily recorded live to tape, a departure from KORN's heavily calculated, meticulous, studio approach to creation. Longtime fans of KORN will still find the familiarity of the band's unique and unforgettable vocals, synths and commanding guitars in key tracks like "What You Believe" and "Everyone".

Inspired in part by the Ganzfeld Experiment, and the out-of-body experiments and hallucinations that often accompany it, Davis focused on religion, consumerism and apathy throughout the album. "There's a level of enlightenment I want to achieve," he confessed regarding "Black Labyrinth". "With all of the bullshit going, everyone is stuck on their fucking cell phones. This takes us way out of that. No matter how hard you try to fight bad things in your life, life will be what it is. It's up to you to accept that, combat it, and move forward, or it's up to you to be in denial. Then it becomes a thorn in your side until you finally deal with it. This is it. Just deal with it."

Asked in a recent interview about the sound of the project, Davis explained: "It's completely different. It's a different thing. It's something I've been working on for 10 years. It's just a crazy, different world music hybrid of all kinds of things, and there are all kinds of different players who play on the record. And I'm really proud of it."

Regarding why it took so long to complete the solo album, Davis said: "I did most of it back in… I started it in '07 and '08. I was signed to another record label, and, unfortunately, the people that signed me left. Some other people came in, they wanted to do it, and they ended up not doing it, so I got the record back. And then, [I went through] a few different managers and stuff, so it's just the same thing — they want the KORN machine moving. [Laughs] So finally I've got a break now, and I'm, like, ' I wanna do this now, guys. Let's do this.' So we're doing it."

Davis also talked about why he chose to make a solo record instead of using the material for KORN. "'Cause it's completely different — it's not for KORN," he said. "You've heard 'What It Is' — that's not a KORN song. So this is stuff that's completely different. There's stuff I've brought to KORN before, like from these sessions, the song 'Take Me', on our last record [2016's 'The Serenity Of Suffering'], was one of these songs, but we took it and the guys — [KORN guitarists] Head and Munky — got it, they tore it apart and made it their own. It's totally different. Sometimes it works. But the majority of the stuff wouldn't have worked for KORN."

The singer's solo North American tour will end on May 18 in Boston. KORN drummer Ray Luzier is part of the backing band.

CARDIAC ARREST Stream New Track "Professional Victim"

CARDIAC ARREST Stream New Track "Professional Victim"

American death metal stalwarts Cardiac Arrest have premiered their new track "Professional Victim". The song hails from the band's sixth album, A Parallel Dimension Of Despair, set for international release on April 23rd via Memento Mori.

Formed in the bowels of Chicago way back in 1997, Cardiac Arrest should need no introduction to the ardent fans of rotting and blood-drenched death metal, for these grave-dwellers have been carving out aural nightmares of perishing and grime for decades now. Consisting of four individuals with an unearthly interest in all that's absurd, morbid, gruesome, and unhealthy, the band's been consistently getting heavier and more vile with every album they spat out via previous labels such as Razorback Recordings and Ibex Moon Records, honoring timeless death metal of the most grinding and putrid ilk with genuineness and a no-nonsense approach, yet adding enough personality to be in a forever-rotting league of their very own.

Now, half a dozen albums deep into their 20-plus-year career Cardiac Arrest have delivered a masterstroke that bands a third of their age would be jealous to release: A Parallel Dimension Of Despair. Time moves on and tastes change, but these American diehards stay true to the iron-clad ethos of true and timeless death metal. Put on A Parallel Dimension Of Despair and you'd be forgiven for thinking the year was 1991, so authentic and ingrained is that ethos. For those were days of true songwriting, and Cardiac Arrest have never forgotten that.

Not for them the speed-for-its-own-sake stakes nor unnecessary gore that doesn't serve the heart of horror; instead, the quartet churn forth streamlined yet shit-heavy DEATH that puts emphasis on hooks and groove as well as well-timed bouts of speed. References to be made include: Grave, Master, Benediction, Obituary, Cianide, Malevolent Creation, and of course the Floridian masters Death and Massacre, but here delivered with a class and clarity that's entirely their own. If anything, this is Cardiac Arrest at their outright catchiest, addictingly navigating between gallop and blast.

With suitably haunting cover art courtesy of Juanjo Castellano and mastering by Javier Felez at Moontower Studios, A Parallel Dimension Of Despair proves old age doesn't soften the diehard one bit - it just kicks them into Cardiac Arrest!

"Immoral And Absurd"
"Become The Pain"
"Unforgiving... Unrelenting"
"When The Teeth Sink In"
"When Murder Is Justified"

WITCH CASKET To Release Hatred Index EP This Month

WITCH CASKET To Release Hatred Index EP This Month

Southern California blackened death metal outfit Witch Casket have announced an April 27th release of their debut EP, entitled Hatred Index. The album was produced, engineered and mixed by the band's guitarist, Colin "Nylock" Cameron, and mastered by Maor Appelbaum of Maor Appelbaum Mastering.

The band plans to release a music video for their new single "The True Knot" in the coming weeks. "The True Knot" will be the third video released by the band, following the release of a lyric video for the song "That Damn Devil", and a music video for the title track "Hatred Index". Watch both videos below.

The formation of Witch Casket began in 2013 when ex-Sothis guitarist Colin "Nylock" Cameron and guitarist Neal Tiemann started working on writing songs together in Nylock's Los Angeles studio. Once a majority of the songs had been written, ex-Sothis vocalist Adam "Drogoth" McCarthy was brought on to handle writing lyrics and recording vocals. Originally formed simply as a studio project, all musical instrumentation was composed and executed by both Nylock and Tiemann.

Witch Casket are poised to explode on the metal scene with a crushing brutality, a high-energy live show, and are ready to deliver to the masses their unique brand of melodic blackened death metal.

TWILIGHT - Black Metal Supergroup Featuring THURSTON MOORE Announces Trident Death Rattle EP; Features Three Unreleased Tracks

TWILIGHT - Black Metal Supergroup Featuring THURSTON MOORE Announces Trident Death Rattle EP; Features Three Unreleased Tracks

Influential American black metal supergroup Twilight have announced the impending release of its final recording, Trident Death Rattle, due out May 1st via Ascension Monuments Media.

Featuring three unreleased tracks from the 2012 III: Beneath Trident's Tomb LP sessions, the extended play is much more an experimental output than its predecessors. It's a dark, uncomfortable listen - much like the history of the band during that particular time period.

Listen to the cathartic first single "This Road South" below, and pre-order the title on vinyl, cassette and digipak MCD here.

Recorded by Sanford Parker and mastered by Collin Jordan, Trident Death Rattle is the 18-and-a-half-minute heretic swan song from masterminds Jef “Wrest” Whitehead (Leviathan), Blake Judd (Nachtmystium) and Neill “N. Imperial” Jameson (Krieg). Indie rock legend Thurston Moore (Sonic Youth) is also featured on this recording, as well as engineer/producer Sanford Parker (Buried At Sea, Corrections House, Minsk) on synths / electronics. Chicago bluegrass veteran Scott Judd performs as a guest, playing electric banjo on “No Consequence”.

In addition, look for further Twilight news later this year via Prophecy Productions.

Says guitarist/vocalist Thurston Moore: "When I got the call to play guitar with Twilight, I knew right away that all other considerations were to be incinerated. Twilight is US black metal at its most impenetrable, corrosive core. Each member a visionary of lunacy and demented desire. I listened to the rough sketches and composed sinister-sonik six string blood cries. In the studio, I marvelled at the work ethic and the satanic succubation of deliverance. Listening to these "lost tracks" brings me back to the sick head of trolling around Chicago, killing beers and smokes, and making wasted high energy noise pollution. We fucking nailed it, cross smashing to the grave."

Says vocalist Neill Jameson: "Twilight III was a strange transitional time in everyone involved's lives, and unlike most people undergoing these things, we were all very aware of it. It was one of those moments where everything was falling apart and coming together, setting up our futures for us without stripping us out of the moment. There was nothing easy or fluid about it, nothing comfortable. It didn't represent black metal as a scene or a genre, it didn't represent anything that we had build with previous work or stand as a beacon for work to come. It was just one long scream into each of our own abyss, a shared yet solitary void. It was the last time I was truly nervous about creating anything."

Says guitarist Blake Judd: "I'm extremely excited for these three missing tracks to finally be seeing the light of day as an official cassette / vinyl / digital release! After having a few rocky years with my ex-Twilight co-conspirators, we've all patched up our differences and have a good relationship today. After numerous conversations about the subject of these three tracks with Jef Whitehead (Wrest) and Neill Jameson (N. Imperial), we've all decided it's time for the final existing Twilight audio to be presented and released unto the world.

"These songs are special to me also because they're the three tracks which were authored by myself and Thurston Moore of Sonic Youth fame. To have had the chance to work with such a legendary musician was an amazing and very satisfying experience for me. I grew up in the 90s when Nirvana was king, so, like most people my age, I was a huge fan. Through Nirvana, I discovered Sonic Youth and have been a massive fan ever since. So, to have had the opportunity later to work alongside the most well-known member of that band, it was like a dream come true and truly brought things full circle, connecting the music I was making during the Twilight era with the music that inspired me to pick up a guitar when I first started playing at 12-13 years old. With that being said, it is with great honour that I'm able to oversee the release and be a part of these missing Twilight tracks, released by Ascension Monuments Media under the title Trident Death Rattle."

Video Premiere: TRIVIUM's 'Endless Night'

Video Premiere: TRIVIUM's 'Endless Night'

TRIVIUM's John Deed-directed music video for the song "Endless Night" can be seen below. The track is taken from the band's eighth album, "The Sin And The Sentence", which arrived last October via Roadrunner.

TRIVIUM frontman Matt Heafy told TeamRock about the song: "I have a friend who owns a personal training company, and he asked me to score their yearly video for their trainers. I was, like, 'Oh yeah, sure. Piece of cake.' I had been doing scoring stuff for local businesses, local real estate companies, food trucks, these little things in Orlando. So I said, 'What do you want?' And he said, 'Something like 'Dying In Your Arms'.' 'All right. That's easy.' I did this thing, sent it to him, he loved it. I showed the guys, and they were like, 'This is really good. We should use it for TRIVIUM.' So, again, we all reworked it together, and Paolo [Gregoletto, bass] did all the lyrics."

Recorded with producer Josh Wilbur (LAMB OF GOD, GOJIRA) at Santa Ana, California's Hybrid Studios, "The Sin And The Sentence" finds TRIVIUM — Heafy, Corey Beaulieu (guitar), Gregoletto and Alex Bent (drums) — returning with its first new music since its celebrated 2015 LP "Silence In The Snow". The new LP also features the band's first recordings with new drummer Bent, who joined the band in 2016.

Heafy told Germany's Pitcam.tv about TRIVIUM's decision to include more screaming vocals on "The Sin And The Sentence": "'Silence [In The Snow]' didn't have it because we felt like it didn't quite need it. We could have put it on there from Corey or something because at the time, I hadn't been able to scream again. I blew my voice out two and a half, three years ago at the end of the 'Vengeance Falls' cycle. I had to rebuild it, and re-work at it, but thankfully it's back. It's a piece of cake [now]. It's great. It sounds great on the record — we're happy about it.

"The thing with TRIVIUM is we've always done the kind of music we felt like we needed to do at that time," he continued. "We never are trying to write to a quota or to a person or to a fan base of any kind of specific thing; we're always trying to make what we want to hear as fans of music and fans of metal, and that's what we did with 'The Sin And The Sentence'. I think 'The Sin And The Sentence' has ingredients of everything that TRIVIUM is and everything that's great about TRIVIUM, while 'Silence...' I think has some of the biggest and best hooks and some of the best singing we've ever had. We have done records like that before. 'The Crusade' had pretty much no screaming whatsoever — I think maybe two words were screamed on that record. With 'The Sin and The Sentence', we just made what we felt like we wanted to make."

Added Gregoletto: "There's really not that much screaming. I think it's a little deceptive just because we had an album that didn't have any, and then it kind of made a return on this record, but we made a conscious effort not to just overdo it. I think just to throw screaming into parts would have been, kind of, I don't know... it would have made it feel very forced. We can put it into our music again and use it when we need to. 'The Heart From Your Hate' has no screaming; one of the other singles that will come out eventually has no screaming. I think we've really accomplished being able to do both and we can kind of pick and choose which tools we want to use."

Listen To New SKINLESS Song 'Line Of Dissent'

Listen To New SKINLESS Song 'Line Of Dissent'

"Line Of Dissent", a brand new song from U.S. death metal veterans SKINLESS, can be streamed below. The track is taken from the band's sixth studio offering, fittingly titled "Savagery", which is due out May 11 on CD, LP, and digital formats via Relapse Records. Physical packages are available via Relapse.com and all digital download/streaming services.

Recorded by Tom Case at Doomsday Bunker Studio in New York and by Dave Otero (PRIMITIVE MAN, CATTLE DECAPITATION, CEPHALIC CARNAGE) at Flatline Audio in Colorado, "Savagery" embodies ten slabs of rotting, aural remains across 37 minutes of titanic slams, untouchable grooves, mauling riffs and blood-thirsty, bestial growls. "Savagery" sees SKINLESS at the top of the band's game, more than 25 years into an untouchable reign of terror and comes swathed in the stunningly sick cover art of renowned tattoo artist Jesse Levitt.

"Savagery" track listing:

01. Savagery

02. Siege Engine

03. Skull Session

04. Reversal Of Fortune

05. Exacting Revenge

06. Medieval

07. Line Of Dissent

08. Cruel Blade Of The Guillotine

09. The Hordes

10. High Rate Extinction (Bonus Track)

Formed in 1992 in Albany, New York, SKINLESS released several full-length albums and numerous EPs throughout its 25-plus-year career. After disbanding in 2011, the group is now back together with the classic "Progression Towards Evil" lineup (Sherwood Webber on vocals, Noah Carpenter on guitar, Joe Keyser on bass, Bob Beaulac on drums) plus the recent addition of Dave Matthews on second guitar.

SKINLESS's first new studio offering in nearly a decade, "Only The Ruthless Remain", arrived in 2015.

DORO To Release 'Forever Warriors, Forever United' Album In August

DORO To Release 'Forever Warriors, Forever United' Album In August

The long-awaited new studio album from German metal queen Doro Pesch will be released on August 17 via Nuclear Blast.

Doro's 20th LP, "Forever Warriors, Forever United" will be a huge milestone as her first-ever double album, so fans can expect 24 brand new songs, including some stunning surprises.

The album cover artwork was once again created by Doro's favorite artist Geoffrey Gillespie. It portrays Doro in the middle of a swarm of wild metal heads exuding attitude, power and a lot of positive vibes.

"The cover and the title form a perfect unit," Doro explains, "Just as it should be. It all fits perfectly in line with the songs, which also deal with some political themes."

"There are some big anthems on the album, countless heavy songs, as well as heart-warming melodies! The album is supposed to give you power and thus contains a lot of energy!"

Doro continues: "On 'Forever Warriors, Forever United', there will be a lot of big rock heroes. Fans might be curious about the many awesome guest musicians involved."

Fans can note that the first single, "All For Metal", will feature several metal heroes, who can also be seen in the upcoming music video which will be released in May. "It's a great anthem — I think it could even top [WARLOCK's classic track] 'All We Are' — and everybody's singing on it," Doro said. "And this could be really, really good. It's hooky like hell."

Guitarist Doug Aldrich (WHITESNAKE, DIO, THE DEAD DAISIES) and former WARLOCK guitarist Tommy Bolan, who also contributed to the highly acclaimed LP "Triumph & Agony" in 1987, will be part of the new album.

According to Doro, the first song she wrote for the new album is a track dedicated to iconic MOTÖRHEAD frontman and Doro's longtime friend Ian "Lemmy" Kilmister. "It's called 'Living Life To The Fullest'," she says.

In the usual Doro tradition, there will also be another German-language song on the album — a midtempo track tackling the topic of a deep friendship, just as in "Für Immer".

The long-awaited follow-up to 2012's "Raise Your Fist" will be the German singer's first release since 2016's "Love's Gone To Hell" single.

Last year, Pesch celebrated the 30th anniversary of WARLOCK's "Triumph And Agony" album by performing the LP in its entirety at select shows around the globe.

Doro was joined on the "Triumph And Agony" 30th-anniversary tour by Bolan alongside bassist Nick Douglas, drummer Johnny Dee, guitarist Bas Maas and guitarist/keyboardist Luca Princiotta.

New Song Premiere: STRYPER's 'Lost'

New Song Premiere: STRYPER's 'Lost'

STRYPER's new song "Lost" can be streamed below. The track is taken from the band's new album, "God Damn Evil", which will be released on April 20 via Frontiers Music Srl. Produced by frontman Michael Sweet, it is STRYPER's most powerful album to date, doubling down on the hard rock/heavy metal sound that earned the group a worldwide fan base.

Asked by All That Shreds what made STRYPER choose such a seemingly provocative title for its follow-up to 2015's "Fallen", Sweet said: "We didn't do it just to shake things up. We have a point to prove in a statement. A few years back we thought about using this title. We didn't go with it because we felt it was a little too much at that time. Now in 2018, with everything that we've seen on the news, the evil we're faced with on a daily basis to new levels and new degrees, it made perfect sense for us to have an album called 'God Damn Evil'. It's a prayer request. It is what it is. It's not a swear, it's not just the shock statement, it's a prayer request, and we're asking God to damn the evil that we see. It should be a prayer for everybody. Some people are freaking out thinking you're taking the Lord's name in vain, and it's not that at all."

In a press release announcing the release of "God Damn Evil", Sweet explained that he and his bandmates "thought long and hard about this title. It was actually considered quite a few years ago and it just didn't feel like the right time. Now, with all the evil in the world that we see around us on a daily basis, it made perfect sense. It's a very bold statement yet a prayer asking God to damn/condemn evil. Nothing more, nothing less.

"We all see and hear the darkness that surrounds us in our society, but with faith and love, we'll always have hope," he continues. "That's what STRYPER is all about: powerful music and a message that builds foundations, not walls. We couldn't be more excited about 'God Damn Evil', as it showcases our undying love for what we do and why we do it."

The follow-up to 2015's "Fallen" marks STRYPER's first effort since the addition of former FIREHOUSE bassist Perry Richardson. Perry joined the band as the replacement for STRYPER's longtime bassist Tim Gaines, who was fired from the group last year.

Perry did not play bass on STRYPER's new album due to scheduling constraints. The bass tracks on "God Damn Evil" were laid down by John O'Boyle, who played bass on Sweet's last two solo albums.

"God Damn Evil" track listing:

01. Take It To The Cross

02. Sorry

03. Lost

04. God Damn Evil

05. You Don't Even Know Me

06. The Valley

07. Sea Of Thieves

08. Beautiful

09. Can't Live Without Your Love

10. Own Up

11. The Devil Doesn't Live Here

STRYPER will return to the road this year, kicking off the "God Damn Evil" world tour in Milan, Italy on April 28 at the Frontiers Rock Festival.

The first new RAINBOW single since 1996, "Waiting For A Sign", was released in March. The song was penned by Ritchie Blackmore, with lyrics by his wife Candice Night and vocals from RAINBOW's current singer, Ronnie Romero, who is originally from Chile but is now settled in Madrid.

The latest incarnation of RAINBOW released two new studio recordings last year, but they weren't original compositions; one was an instrumental song called "Land Of Hope And Glory", which was a reworking of the 1902 British patriotic song of the same name from Edward Elgar's "Pomp And Circumstance March No. 1", while the other was a re-recording of the RAINBOW classic "I Surrender", which was written by Russ Ballard and was first released by RAINBOW in 1981.

"Waiting For A Sign" is included on "Memories in Rock II", which was released on April 6 via Minstrel Hall/Soulfood. The set also contains a double CD of the June 2017 U.K. RAINBOW concerts, a DVD containing over 80 minutes of interview footage with the band and crew, an additional backstage clip and a video for the 2017 studio version of "I Surrender".

Blackmore stepped away from his Renaissance-inspired brand of music with BLACKMORE'S NIGHT in 2016 to perform a handful of shows with a brand-new lineup of the band he had formed after quitting DEEP PURPLE.

Although Ritchie initially said that he had no plans to make a new RAINBOW album — explaining in early 2016 that he wanted to "just get back to playing the old songs one more time" — he revealed to Japan's Burrn! magazine that he changed his mind.

In addition to Blackmore and Romero, the current incarnation of RAINBOW includes STRATOVARIUS keyboardist Jens Johansson, BLACKMORE'S NIGHT drummer David Keith, bassist Bob Nouveau (a.k.a. Robert "Bob" Curiano, ex-BLACKMORE'S NIGHT), and backing singers Candice Night and Lady Lynn.

The two shows RAINBOW played in Germany in June 2016 were caught on camera to produce "Memories In Rock - Live In Germany", which was released in November 2016 via Eagle Rock Entertainment on DVD+2CD, Blu-ray+2CD, and digital formats.

After Ritchie left DEEP PURPLE for the final time in 1993, he reformed RAINBOW for one album (1995's "Stranger In Us All") and one tour, ending things in Denmark in 1997.
