THIN LIZZY Founder ERIC BELL Details New Album Standing At A Bus Stop

THIN LIZZY Founder ERIC BELL Details New Album Standing At A Bus Stop

Founding Thin Lizzy guitarist Eric Bell will release his new solo album 'Standing At A Bus Stop' on December 1st, via Of The Edge Productions/Cargo Records UK. 'Standing at a Bus Stop' is legendary guitarist, musician and songwriter Eric Bell’s second album for Of The Edge Productions.

The follow-up to 2016’s Exile - Eric’s first studio recording for more than ten years - Standing At A Bus Stop gives fans more of what Eric does best - bitter sweet lyrics, gorgeous melodies and fantastic guitar riffs. Featuring nine brand new tracks written by Eric - plus two wonderful covers of Howlin Wolf's “Back Door Man”, and Elvis’ “Mystery Train” - this latest album showcases Bell’s talent for song writing and his desire to keep moving forward with his music.

“It would have been very easy to become Thin Lizzy part II,” says Eric, “but I’ve always gone my own way. You shouldn’t be scared to take a chance and experiment. Whatever talent I possess, I want to use it and you can’t do that if you’re always looking to the past.”

Once again, Eric draws heavily on his own life for inspiration on this record (and his extraordinary life has certainly produced plenty of song writing material!), crafting songs that are highly personal yet completely universal - songs of love and loss, dreams and memories, good times and bad. Some are recent creations, reflecting Eric’s thoughts on the modern world; some were written years ago, forgotten and rediscovered for this album.

“You get a free razor blade with every copy!” laughs Eric. “The songs on this album might be a bit melancholic but they’re not miserable. They are honest, they’re about real people and places and capture certain points in my life that meant something and made me who I am.

“I was never really considered a songwriter until Exile,” he adds, “so it’s amazing to have the chance to do another record. It feels like a natural progression for me. Like maybe I can write after all.”

Tracklisting:

“Back Door Man” (Howlin Wolf cover)
“Changing Room”
“In Memory Of Django”
“Frustration”
“Golden Days”
“Mystery Train” (Elvis cover)
“One Day Too Early”
“Pavements Paved With Gold”
“Reality”
“Standing At A Bus Stop”
“Walking In The Park”
“Golden Days”

INIQUITY Releases 1996 Debut Serenadium; Announce Final Show In Copenhagen

INIQUITY Releases 1996 Debut Serenadium; Announce Final Show In Copenhagen

Danish death metal cult band Iniquity will rerelease their classic 1996 debut album Serenadium on CD and LP on November 10th via Mighty Music and will play their final show in Copenhagen on the same day.

Iniquity is one of the first death metal bands to emerge from Denmark. Established in 1989, the band were pioneers in the genre and made quite an impact with their albums worldwide. The debut album Serenadium from 1996 is by many death metal fanatics considered a classic album. The story of Iniquity is known to have been very chaotic with many line-up changes, drug and alcohol abuse, bad luck, bad decisions, and in 2011, founding member Brian Petrowsky died, just 37 years old. Besides Serenadium, the band released The Hidden Lore MCD in 1998, Five Across The Eyes in 1999 and finally Grime in 2001. After many years of silence, the band came back from the grave in 2013 to perform a few shows with The Hidden Lore lineup. In connection with the 20 year re-release of Serenadium the band will perform their last ever gig in Copenhagen on November 10th with special guests.

"Finally it's here... Both fans and the band has been waiting for this for 20 years. Our debut album Serenadium from 1996 is coming out on vinyl through our old trusty label Mighty Music who've released all previous iniquity releases as well! Needless to say we are very excited by this and despite us actually laying the band to rest in 2016 we will of course be back to play a few shows in connection with this - as a final salute to the band and to the people who've helped build this monster. We hope this release will please the fans - old and new - maybe even make a few youngster turn their heads! 'Serenadium of the deathless, you will slowly transpire...' and so will we.” Martin Rosendahl, Iniquity

"This was the first ever album I released. I was 19 years old when I signed Iniquity, knew close to nothing about the music business, and used most of my savings to fund everything around this album. It was released it on my old label Emanzipation Productions back in 1996 and made quite a stir in the international death metal scene. I of course have a lot of memories about Serenadium, mostly good but also quite a few bad once, since it was a very turbulent time in the band.  But you can't take away the fact that is a classic death metal in all aspects and it feels like a big relief for me finally to release it on vinyl and finish the Iniquity chapter." Michael H. Andersen, Mighty Music.

Iniquity’s Serenadium will be rereleased on LP and CD including the The Hidden Lore EP from 1998 as bonus. All songs remastered at Medley Studio (Artillery, Electric Guitars).

METALLICA Pays Tribute To BLACK SABBATH With 'War Pigs' Cover In Birmingham (Video)

METALLICA Pays Tribute To BLACK SABBATH With 'War Pigs' Cover In Birmingham (Video)

Kirk Hammett and Robert Trujillo paid tribute to hometown legends BLACK SABBATH during METALLICA's concert last night (Monday, October 30) at the Genting Arena in Birmingham, England. Hammett and Trujillo covered "War Pigs" during their solo section and allowing the fans to sing in full support. Check out fan-filmed video footage below.

METALLICA members Lars Ulrich and James Hetfield inducted BLACK SABBATH into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in March 2006 in New York City.

In a moving speech, Hetfield choked up as he painted a picture of himself as a nine-year-old introvert who found salvation in the din of Tony Iommi & Co. "He was drawn to them... like a shy boy to his own loud voice," Hetfield said at the event. "Those monstrous riffs lived inside him and spoke the feelings he could never put into words, sending chills of inspiration through him, from those gloomy lyrics and outlaw chords and all."

In addition to inducting SABBATH into the Rock Hall, METALLICA performed a medley of SABBATH songs ("Hole in the Sky" and "Iron Man") during the ceremony.

The European leg of METALLICA's "WorldWired" tour kicked off in Copenhagen, Denmark on September 2 and will run through November. After a break, the trek will pick up again on February 1, 2018 in Lisbon, Portugal, and continue through May, finishing up in Helsinki, Finland.

The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame band is touring in support of its tenth studio album, "Hardwired... To Self-Destruct", which came out last November.

FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH Guitarist Says IVAN MOODY's Lyrics For New Single, 'Trouble', Are Autobiographical

FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH Guitarist Says IVAN MOODY's Lyrics For New Single, 'Trouble', Are Autobiographical

FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH last week confirmed a December 1 release date for its greatest hits collection, "A Decade Of Destruction", and released one of two new tracks included on the album, a song called "Trouble". Guitarist Zoltan Bathory told The Pulse Of Radio that singer Ivan Moody's lyrics for the song were inspired by Moody's own recent struggles to stay sober. "Ivan is the hand grenade without the, you know [laughs], without the pin, so he wrote the lyrics, obviously, and I think it's about himself, that he is trouble. You know, he's straightening out. It's good to see him getting sober, getting straight, and so I guess this song now is in a — now it's a past-tense song."

The other new song included with the set is titled "Gone Away".

Drummer Jeremy Spencer told Razor 94.7 that he was unsure about doing a greatest-hits LP at first, saying, "I was, like, 'Do we even have enough hits?' And then we looked and we have, like, thirteen or fifteen radio hits. It just seems like it just started, even though it's been ten years. We're always wrapped up in our vacuum, in our cocoon of our daily life, so you don't pay attention to that stuff. And now we're, like, 'We have a greatest hits.' And the label thought it was the right time, so we were, like, 'Cool. Let's put some new songs on it, though.' We don't wanna make… 'Cause people can pretty much… You know, they have the records already. But now this is a cool package with different stuff on it. The artwork's really rad. It's cool."

The hits collection and an already-completed new studio album are part of a deal to settle a legal dispute and close out the band's contract with its label, Prospect Park.

FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH's seventh full-length LP, which was finished nearly a year ago, will follow up 2015's "Got Your Six" and will be released in spring 2018.

The band is currently preparing to embark on a European arena tour with IN FLAMES and OF MICE & MEN.

FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH signed a new North American recording deal with Rise Records last year.

WES BORLAND's BIG DUMB FACE Releases 'Jesus Retreats' Video

WES BORLAND's BIG DUMB FACE Releases 'Jesus Retreats' Video

"Jesus Retreats", the new video from BIG DUMB FACE, the side project from LIMP BIZKIT guitarist Wes Borland, can be seen below. The song is taken from BIG DUMB FACE's latest album, "Where Is Duke Lion? He's Dead...", which is being released today (Tuesday, October 31) via Edison Sound.

"Where Is Duke Lion? He's Dead..." is BIG DUMB FACE's first full-length release since "Duke Lion Fights The Terror!!" (2001), and tells the story of the powers of evil triumphing, killing our hero. "Where Is Duke Lion? He's Dead..." once again features Wes's brother Scott Borland.

This is Wes Borland's first release since his 2016 solo record, "Crystal Machete".

Rarely has a side project provided such a creative outlet for the madcap, surreal and bizarre. "Where Is Duke Lion? He's Dead..." is an album which redefines musical eccentricity, genre-less and unbounded — noise, death metal, electronic, steel pan samples, grindcore and more all collide in a maelstrom of musical images. This is not to say though that the record is without direction; indeed, the pacing and track order makes for a compelling listen — from the rip-snorting "Zargon Moth" or the off-kilter melodicism of "Jesus Retreats" to the relatively more tranquil "The Blood Maiden" or the whack-ballad of "WDATGGG".

Unsurprisingly, for an artist overflowing with as many ideas as Wes Borland (with his brother Scott), "Where Is Duke Lion? He's Dead..." is a multi-layered record which rewards on multiple listens. Listen once and you're carried away on a tide of musical energy and riffs; twice, and you begin to appreciate the unique production, mixing and sheer level of varied sounds and samples within.

Nowhere is this better summed up than in the behemoth of a closer: "Whipping The Hodeus". An eighteen-minute monster, the track combines a grotesque southern country ballad with cinematic rural soundscape, disco funk, and finally, grind/deathcore. You really do have to hear it to believe it.

OZZY OSBOURNE Says He's Been Sober For Almost Five Years

OZZY OSBOURNE Says He's Been Sober For Almost Five Years

Ozzy Osbourne and Zakk Wylde recently guested on MÖTLEY CRÜE and SIXX:A.M. bassist Nikki Sixx's syndicated rock radio show "Sixx Sense With Nikki Sixx". The entire chat can be seen below. A few excerpts follow (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET):

On the origins of Ozzfest:

Ozzy: "How it happened was that [Ozzy's wife and manager] Sharon [Osbourne] tried to get me on Lollapalooza, and they said, 'That music's dead — it's over.' So Sharon said, 'Screw you, we'll do our own [festival)."

On what he credits for his longevity:

Ozzy: "Not drinking and not doing all that... I don't smoke, drink, do dope..."

Zakk: "A while ago, Ozz quit doing everything at one point. This is when we were staying at the house — me and [Zakk's wife] Barb. The girls were out — Sharon and Barb, they went out to the movies or went out somewhere — and me and Ozzy are just sitting there. He has a cup of tea, and he goes, 'Look at me. I don't drink; I don't do drugs; I quit smoking — I never thought I'd do that; I don't even drink coffee anymore.' He goes, 'Zakk, why am I alive?'"

Ozzy: "I know what's going to happen if I start that again — I'm going to wake up covered in piss and puke, on my own somewhere. I can sit here and go, 'A glass of wine would be good,' and the next thing you know, I'm waking up somewhere I didn't intend to be, in a bad state. 'Cause I can't stop. [It's like] a switch — from fun to necessity."

On getting sober:

Ozzy: "I'm coming up on five years. I don't want it [now].. I don't know how we did it. For a while it was fun, but when you cross that invisible line... one day, I wake up in a fucking jail in England. I'm going, 'Where the fuck am I? What have I done?' I said to the cop, 'Why am I here?' He goes, 'I'll read you a charge — John Michael Osbourne has been arrested for attempting murder.' I went, 'What? Who did I try and kill?' 'Your wife.' I never believed in blackouts. I thought it was just a scare tactic. But I started having them."

On MTV's "The Osbournes":

Ozzy: "Having a camera crew in your house 24/7, you feel like a fucking experiment... I said to the guy one day, 'This is driving me fucking nuts. I've got to have a safe room where I can scratch my ass without being on TV.' I go in there one day, and I get this fucking weird feeling, you know? I look in the corner, and there's a camera hidden in the wall. I said, 'I thought this was a safe room?' He goes, 'We wanted to know where you were at all times.' 'Then why is the mic next to the fucking camera?' We pulled the plug because we started to run out of ideas, and plus the fact that it was my own house and I didn't feel safe."

On un-retiring:

Ozzy: "I retired for about one fucking... I couldn't even retire from this. It's not a job. I'll be here until they put a lid on my box. It's what I do — I've done it for forty-nine years. I don't know anything else."

Earlier this year, Ozzy reunited with Wylde, who played on studio albums such as "No Rest For The Wicked", "No More Tears" and "Ozzmosis" and who has toured on and off with Ozzy for nearly thirty years.

Ozzy has played a handful of solo shows since doing his final concerts with BLACK SABBATH last February. The legendary band wrapped up its forty-nine-year career with a year-long farewell tour, ending with two shows in its hometown of Birmingham, England.

A CD/DVD package called "The End", capturing the final SABBATH concert on film and as a live album, will be released on November 17.

Ozzy will next headline the first day of Ozzfest Meets Knotfest on November 4 in San Bernardino, California.

BLACK SABBATH's TONY IOMMI Says That His Cancer Will 'Probably' Come Back

BLACK SABBATH's TONY IOMMI Says That His Cancer Will 'Probably' Come Back

BLACK SABBATH guitarist Tony Iommi says that his cancer will likely come back — more than a year after he announced that he was in remission.

Iommi was diagnosed with lymphoma in early 2012, shortly after SABBATH announced a reunion tour and album. He underwent treatment throughout the recording of the disc, titled "13", and the subsequent tour to promote it.

Eight months after BLACK SABBATH brought its farewell tour to an end in the band's hometown of Birmingham, England, Iommi told Loudwire that he had to retire from the road because he could no longer travel for extended amounts of time.

"Well, for me, it's always hard traveling," he said (see video below). "Since I was diagnosed, I have to sort of be careful and not stay up too late and get some rest, which I wasn't, because we were traveling after the show. So by the time you get to the hotel, [it's] three or four o'clock in the morning. And I normally wake up early — I wake up when it's light — so you don't get many hours sleep. But, you know, there's nothing I can knock about it. I love playing on the road, I love being in the band, I love playing to the fans, but it's just the other side. You can only do what you can do and your physical side takes over and you get tired. And after doing so many shows, I really did get tired."

Speaking about how his cancer diagnosis has changed his perspective on life, Iommi said: "Well, to me, it's never gonna go away; it's always gonna be there. According to my oncologist, the professor, he said it's probably gonna come back. So it's hard to sort of go, 'Oh, well, that's brilliant then.' But I do live [day] by day now, and just every day is a winner, really. And we'll see. I hope it doesn't come back, but you never know."

Iommi said in 2016 interview that "the lowest moment" for him was being diagnosed. He explained: "You automatically wind yourself up saying, 'That's it then,' but that is not always the case. When they tell you, you think, 'Oh God.' That was a low time. I have had a few low times in my life like everybody has, but that was one that stuck in the head."

SABBATH singer Ozzy Osbourne told The Pulse Of Radio in 2014 that Iommi never let his condition slow him down: "My hat goes off to him 'cause he really is Iron Man. I mean, that chemotherapy knocks you sideways, you know. I mean, when my wife had cancer a few years back, she was having three chemo things a month and it would knock the life out of — literally every time she'd have a treatment, she'd have a seizure. It's scary stuff. But he came down, plugged in and carried on. He's my hero, I swear to God he is."

The BLACK SABBATH guitarist successfully underwent an operation in January 2017 to remove a noncancerous lump from his throat.

MICHAEL SCHENKER FEST To Release 'Resurrection' Album, 'Warrior' Single

MICHAEL SCHENKER FEST To Release 'Resurrection' Album, 'Warrior' Single

Legendary German guitarist Michael Schenker has set "Resurrection" as the title of the upcoming album from his MICHAEL SCHENKER FEST project. The disc, which was produced by Michael Voss, is tentatively due in early 2018 via Nuclear Blast.

"Resurrection" was recorded in four different locations over a five-month period and features a guest appearance by METALLICA's Kirk Hammett along with contributions from three original MSG (MICHAEL SCHENKER GROUP) singers — Gary Barden, Graham Bonnet and Robin McAuley — plus Doogie White, who plays with Michael in MICHAEL SCHENKER'S TEMPLE OF ROCK.

"It's not like three singers [where] each one sings three songs," Schenker explained to "Rock Talk With Mitch Lafon" (hear audio below). "We actually ended up having all singers together on a few songs, which is really, really unique and interesting. It's really entertaining, because you hear these different types of voices coming in to the same song, singing… Basically, Gary maybe sings the bridge, Robin sings the verse and Graham sings the chorus or whatever. We did this on about three songs or so."

According to Schenker, "Resurrection" will contain all brand new songs, including the projected first single "Warrior", which he describes as "really, really good and really powerful." The track will be made available several weeks prior to the album release and will come with a behind-the-scenes video.

The studio album will follow the release of "Michael Schenker Fest Tokyo", a concert recording filmed in August 2016 at Tokyo, Japan's International Forum, which was made available this past March via Inakustik.

"It was so funny when [Gary, Graham and Robin] all had to sing their lines and we were shooting behind-the-scenes footage, to see them how they get on," Michael recalled. "You can actually see it on the ['Michael Schenker Fest Tokyo'] DVD already, but it just continues to be as if these people have been together forever."

Michael added that he is celebrating his music career and life itself with MICHAEL SCHENKER FEST. "It seems like everybody's celebrating their life and their career at the same time," he said. "But it's all the most popular music of Michael Schenker, and the best I can do at the moment is to have Gary and Graham and Robin and now [with the addition of] Doogie White."

Video Premiere: IN THIS MOMENT's 'Roots'

Video Premiere: IN THIS MOMENT's 'Roots'

IN THIS MOMENT's video for the song "Roots" can be seen below. The clip was directed by Maria Brink and Robert Kley.

"Roots" is taken from IN THIS MOMENT's latest album, "Ritual", which was released this past July by Atlantic Records in partnership with Roadrunner Records. The disc features a guest appearance from JUDAS PRIEST frontman Rob Halford on the song "Black Wedding".

"Ritual" was produced by IN THIS MOMENT's longtime collaborator — and multiple Grammy Award nominee — Kevin Churko (FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH, OZZY OSBOURNE).

Asked how the material from "Ritual" has been going over live, guitarist Chris Howorth told Fuel The Scene magazine: "The reception has been overwhelmingly good all across the board. It's kind of weird now… Because album sales are so different, with streams and everything, you don't really notice it, except for on the live front, you see the people showing up and singing the songs, and you know that they're getting it and hearing it. Otherwise, it's hard to kind of tell."

Added guitarist Randy Weitzel: "When we play a song for the first time, people are just sort of staring at you. But as tours go by, they start to get to know the lyrics and it livens up a little bit. So I think it's going pretty good."

HEAVEN & EARTH Releases Video For 'Hard To Kill' Title Track

HEAVEN & EARTH Releases Video For 'Hard To Kill' Title Track

The official video for "Hard To Kill", the title track of the fourth studio album from Los Angeles-based hard rockers HEAVEN & EARTH, can be seen below. The disc was released on October 6 via Quarto Valley Records.

Founded by British-born, blues-rock guitar virtuoso Stuart Smith, HEAVEN & EARTH specializes in melodic, hard rock in the vein of DEEP PURPLE, RAINBOW and BAD COMPANY. HEAVEN & EARTH's recording lineup includes Joe Retta (lead vocals, guitar, harmonica), Stuart Smith (guitars), Lynn Sorenson (bass and vocals), drummer Kenny Aronoff (John Mellencamp, THE ROLLING STONES, Lady Gaga, Bruno Mars) and keyboardist Ty Baillie (Katy Perry, Robbie Robertson). On tour, HEAVEN & EARTH features musicians Mike Mangan (Hammond organ and keyboard) and Steven Wilson (drums, percussion, vocals).

Taking "Hard To Kill" as a whole, the eleven original songs ring true and the melodies unfold like you have known them your whole life. The title track serves as the band's anthem, a testament to perseverance and the power of rock. "L.A. Blues" exposes the pitfalls of living in the City of Angels, while "The Game Has Changed" dramatically contrasts the past with the present. Meanwhile, "Til It's Over" will earn the admiration of longtime rock listeners, just as the attitude in "Bleed Me Dry" and "Walk Away" will speak to any modern music fan. "We feel that 'Hard To Kill' is definitely the band's best work yet, and we're excited to see how it’s received," says Smith. "We're looking forward to going on tour and playing selections from all four HEAVEN & EARTH albums, as well as a few surprises."

GODFLESH: 'Post Self' Title Track Available For Streaming

U.K. industrial metal pioneers GODFLESH will release their new album, "Post Self", on November 17 via Justin K. Broadrick's Avalanche Recordings on CD, digital and LP formats, with a cassette version incoming on Hospital Productions.

Over two years in the making, "Post Self" explores the less "metal" side of GODFLESH, taking in the formative influences and spitting out something more informed by late '70s early '80s post-punk and industrial than it is anything metal-related. Lyrically, the album deals with anxiety and depression, fear, mortality and paternal and maternal relationships.

"Post Self" track listing:

01. Post Self02. Parasite 03. No Body 04. Mirror Of Finite Light 05. Be God 06. The Cyclic End 07. Pre Self 08. Mortality Sorrow 09. In Your Shadow 10. The Infinite End

PAINTED DOLL Feat. AUTOPSY's CHRIS REIFERT: Debut Album Due In February

PAINTED DOLL Feat. AUTOPSY's CHRIS REIFERT: Debut Album Due In February

PAINTED DOLL, the new band formed by comedian/guitar shredder Dave Hill and extreme metal veteran Chris Reifert (AUTOPSY, DEATH), has inked a deal with the New York City independent label Tee Pee Records. The group's self-titled debut, recorded and mixed by Tom Beaujour at Nuthouse Recording in Hoboken, New Jersey, will be released on February 16, 2018.

PAINTED DOLL came to life when "a death metal guy and a power-pop guy got hammered together at a GOBLIN concert in Texas." Soon after, Reifert and Hill began trying to out-deep cut each other with late '60s/early '70s Dutch and British psych pop before Chris suggested the two musicians form a band together inspired by the music they'd been trading.

What does PAINTED DOLL sound like, you ask? Let's let the band do the talking...

"The PAINTED DOLL record was a blast to make," says Hill. "Chris is a death metal legend from the Bay Area and I'm a guy from Cleveland who worships THE KINKS. Throw in our mutual love for obscure Dutch bands from the seventies and you've got PAINTED DOLL. We're super psyched to be working with Tee Pee Records to unleash our stone-cold jams on the masses."

"After getting to know Dave and talking about psychedelic bands and stuff, it was clear that PAINTED DOLL needed to happen," adds Reifert. "The powers of rock gave us our mission, which we gladly accepted. Now you can hear the visions that we had bouncing around in our heads. Foxes and rabbits, velvet and leather, smoldering rock and spacey psych....what else do you need? Play it loud and proud, babies!"

Luckily, there's zero waiting period to hear the culmination of this peculiar pairing as PAINTED DOLL has released a video for the record's lead track "Together Alone". Check it out below.

ENTOMBED: 'Clandestine / Malmö' 2CD Plus DVD To Be Released In November

ENTOMBED: 'Clandestine / Malmö' 2CD Plus DVD To Be Released In November

The new lineup of Swedish metal veterans ENTOMBED played its groundbreaking 1991 album, "Clandestine", in its entirety at Malmö Live in Malmö, Sweden on November 12, 2016. Sitting in first with conductor Josef Rhedin and the hundred-plus-member Malmö Symphony Orchestra for Thomas Von Wachenfeldt's arrangement of "Clandestine", the band performed "Clandestine" from front to back for the very first time.

Joining original ENTOMBED members Alex Hellid, Uffe Cederlund (guitar) and Nicke Andersson (drums) in the group's latest incarnation are Robert Andersson (vocals) and Nicke's half brother Edvin Aftonfalk (bass), both formerly of the Swedish death metal band MORBUS CHRON.

A recording of this special event, "Clandestine / Malmö", will be released on November 10 via Threeman Recordings. It will contain a special-edition 5.1 HD sound 2CD plus DVD deluxe mediabook featuring the full performance (orchestra + band) and poster. (Mediabook includes hard-bound booklet.)

In the first act, the full Malmö Symphony Orchestra and a choir performs "Clandestine", arranged for orchestra by Thomas Von Wachenfeldt, with the original members from ENTOMBED sitting in as part of the ensemble and with Orvar Säfström on vocals. In the second act, the band for the very first time plays the entire album live in the original version with the addition of Edvin Aftonfalk on bass guitar and Robert Andersson on lead vocals.

Track listing:

The new lineup of ENTOMBED made its live debut on the Close-Up Båten cruise on October 27, 2016.

Decibel magazine inducted "Clandestine" into its Hall Of Fame series in the December 2016 issue. Editor Albert Mudrian said "Clandestine" is "one of the greatest death metal records — Swedish or otherwise — of all time."

The ENTOMBED band that performed on the Close-Up Båten cruise and at Malmö Live is not to be confused with ENTOMBED A.D., which features ENTOMBED vocalist Lars Göran Petrov alongside Olle Dahlstedt (drums), Nico Elgstrand (guitar) and Victor Brandt (bass).

Hellid and Petrov have been embroiled in a legal battle over the ENTOMBED name for several years.

ANNIHILATOR Releases Gory, NSFW Video For New Song 'Pieces Of You'

ANNIHILATOR Releases Gory, NSFW Video For New Song 'Pieces Of You'

Canadian metal veterans ANNIHILATOR have released an extra-gory, NSFW (not-safe-for-work) video for the song "Pieces Of You". The track is taken from the band's sixteenth studio album, "For The Demented", which will be released on November 3 via Neverland Music/Silver Lining Music. The effort will be available in a limited-edition digipack with lenticular cover, a jewel-case CD, a twelve-inch 180-gram colored vinyl in gatefold and digital download. "The following contains a graphic interpretation of a true crime story that includes potentially disturbing images and lyrical content," says ANNIHILATOR's Jeff Waters abut the video. "We realize this is not exactly the most pleasant subject to write about, however, in the world of being a writer and musician, sometimes these stories can spawn a song! While many of the songs from the new album, 'For The Demented', have positive messages in them, this one does not! Waters adds: "This is about a criminally insane guy who murdered his 'annoying' girlfriend to 'silence' her voice. He then eats pieces of her, as a means of keeping her alive inside of him. Yeah, crazy, but when you watch horror movies, crime shows and own a few CANNIBAL CORPSE t-shirts, this is tame in comparison. "I like the three dimensions of this: seeing the lyrics roll by: hearing/feeling the music and watching the horror... almost difficult to take it all in, in one view. "Enjoy 'Pieces Of You', if you can!"

"For The Demented" track listing:

01. Twisted Lobotomy02. One To Kill03. For The Demented04. Pieces of You05. The Demon You Know06. Phantom Asylum 07. Altering The Alter08. The Way09. Dark10. Not All There

Pre-orders are now live at this location. "It was time to analyze what a lot of fans over the years have kept telling me," says Waters. "It was time to sit down and figure out 'why' ANNIHILATOR's early 'thrash-meets-melodic' caught the ears of so many and to try to sweep the 'fan' part of my writing/playing/singing out the door and welcome back the mostly original Waters writing that was to be the first four ANNIHILATOR albums." Waters didn't venture back alone while looking back through ANNIHILATOR's history. "I was well aware that trying to re-capture the past usually fails, or at least won't come close," he says. "So, I decided to bring in fresh ears, both musically and physically with Rich Hinks, my bassist for the last few years. And doing most all of the records by myself, including writing and playing most all on my own, as well as mixing, mastering, engineering, etc… well, it can become routine and can often hinder you from being objective and more creative. "Rich came in and co-wrote the music with me, as well as co-produced the beginning stages of the record. His background of classic thrash metal meets a newer 'math' metal style was the perfect combination for me to simply ask, 'What do you think of this?' He would most-often reply with 'not the ANNIHILATOR style I like,' so we would keep going until we both felt that core ANNIHILATOR riffing and writing style presented itself."

Jeff continues: "Bottom line, 'For The Demented' captures some feel from ANNIHILATOR's 1985-87 demos mixed with the first four ANNIHILATOR records. Back to the thrash-meets-melody but with some pure Waters guitar riffing, upgraded lead guitar shredding and vocals back to the demo days meets the 'King of The Kill' record. Lyrically, I placed a theme on the record: the human mind and all of its glory, complexity, diversity, weaknesses and insanity! Pretty much the craziness of the music is matched by the lyrics. "I think metal fans are going to hear much of what they have been waiting for from ANNIHILATOR," adds Waters. Since 1989, ANNIHILATOR have not stopped putting out records and touring the world. Despite the ever-changing climate of the metal world (and releasing a series of "different" metal records with various lineups along the way), Waters and company have consistently delivered strong albums since the band's debut, "Alice In Hell". Then there was 1990's best-selling "Never, Neverland", 1995's "King Of The Kill", "Schizo Deluxe" in 2005 and many other critically acclaimed releases up until "Suicide Society". The "under-the-radar" influence of this band, and Waters, has been felt throughout the entire realm of the metal world by a ton of well-known musicians and bands; that influence even stretching into the hard rock and instrumentalist genre. Waters, in his usual humble manner, offers this in response: "ANNIHILATOR's music has been influenced by a good hundred of my favorite bands and musicians; you can hear their contributions to what I have been doing all throughout ANNIHILATOR's catalog. It's a bonus and an honor when bands and musicians I love mention that I had something to do with their playing or songs!" ANNIHILATOR is:

GEOFF TATE To Celebrate 30th Anniversary Of QUEENSRŸCHE's 'Operation: Mindcrime' On European Tour

GEOFF TATE To Celebrate 30th Anniversary Of QUEENSRŸCHE's 'Operation: Mindcrime' On European Tour

Ex-QUEENSRŸCHE frontman Geoff Tate will embark on a world tour starting in December 2017 for the thirtieth anniversary of his former band's "Operation: Mindcrime" album.

"Operation: Mindcrime" is the third studio album of eleven that Geoff recorded with the progressive heavy metal band QUEENSRŸCHE. The concept album and rock opera is a story following Nikki, a recovering drug addict, who becomes disillusioned with the corrupt society of his time and becomes involved in a revolutionary group, acting as an assassin of political leaders. The certified platinum album was rated by Kerrang! as one of heavy metal’s top hundred albums of all time.

QUEENSRŸCHE played "Operation: Mindcrime" in its entirety during the band's 1990 tour to promote the "Empire" album. The performance featured video, animation and guest singer Pamela Moore as the character Sister Mary.

Tate was fired from QUEENSRŸCHE in 2012. A two-year legal battle followed where Tate sued for the QUEENSRŸCHE name, only for his former bandmates Michael Wilton (guitar), Scott Rockenfield (drums) and Eddie Jackson (bass) to respond with a countersuit. They eventually settled the dispute, with Wilton, Rockenfield and Jackson continuing as QUEENSRŸCHE, and Tate now having the sole right to perform the albums "Operation: Mindcrime" and "Operation: Mindcrime II" in their entirety live.

Progressive Metallers BELIEVER Release Third Installment Of New Music

Progressive Metallers BELIEVER Release Third Installment Of New Music

Progressive metallers BELIEVER are making new music available throughout 2017, culminating in the release of a physical product, to be announced later this year. BELIEVER fans will enjoy digital releases every few months with new artwork from Eye Level Studio's Michael Rosner to accompany each release. The third installment, "3 Of 5", contains the songs "Imagine Dragons" and "King Of Oz" and was released on October 31 via Trauma Team Productions.

BELIEVER, once again, dug deep into its bag of early influences to deliver these unique tracks and Rosner does the math (1/5+2/5= 3/5) for the cover art.

"We had to deliver something a bit odd since it’s an odd number release," stated BELIEVER's Jeff King. "And we just couldn't sit on our hands when IMAGINE DRAGONS released their song 'Believer'," added Kurt Bachman.

"3 Of 5" was mixed by Kevin Gutierrez at Assembly Line Studios and mastered by Bill Wolf of Wolf Productions.

BELIEVER gained worldwide recognition for its boundary-breaking, artistic form of progressive metal music, throwing open the doors to collaborations between metal and orchestral musicians and sealing the band's legacy. Their focus on creativity and innovation has earned praise from fans and musicians worldwide.

As BELIEVER fans know, the band's sound is constantly evolving as they explore new creative directions with each release. Bachman explains: "At this point, our goal was to write good songs, but to also make ourselves feel a bit musically uncomfortable.

"We have long admired the musicianship of RUSH, YES, KANSAS, etc., but it was their ability to write great, memorable songs that has always inspired us.

"After thirty years, I would say that with these songs, we are combining the BELIEVER sound with our very early musical roots and having a fun time doing it!"

BELIEVER's last album, "Transhuman", was released in April 2011 via Metal Blade Records.

Visit believerband.com for information regarding the new music.

THE DEAD DAISIES Release Animated Video For "She Always Gets Her Way (All The Same)"

THE DEAD DAISIES Release Animated Video For "She Always Gets Her Way (All The Same)"

The Dead Daisies found inspiration in the excess of their rock 'n roll lifestyles for the video for their new song "She Always Gets Her Way (All The Same)", reports Allison Stubblebine of Billboard. Check out the clip below.

The visuals enlist a choppy animation style to depict a coke fueled, drama-filled narrative in which the frontman finds trouble with the fact that his significant other enjoys a similar lifestyle to him.

Vocalist John Corabi (Mötley Crüe, Union, The Scream), had plenty to say about the inspiration behind the track, explaining, "In lieu of some of the psychotic and crazy women that I somehow managed to find and get involved with, writing the lyrics for this was quite easy! I've kinda realized that I'm 'that guy' that could walk into a nudist colony in a full-length fur coat and ski mask, and I would be the one that left with mosquito bites! That's my life with women, well in the past anyway... hopefully!"

Former UNEXPECT Bassist's VVON DOGMA I Release Debut EP

Former UNEXPECT Bassist's VVON DOGMA I Release Debut EP

Former Unexpect bassist ChaotH (aka Frédérick Filiatrault) has launched a new band, Vvon Dogma I. Their new four song Communion EP is now available. A video for the title track was recently released. Following is a message from the Unexpect camp:

Vvon Dogma I's Communion EP is out now for stream and download. ChaotH keeps walking in circles with his finger in the air screaming 'Proving skeptics wrong will be a delight!' like a mad professor. Please get the EP and shut him up. Thank you."

COMMUNION EP by Vvon Dogma I

The tracklist is as follows:

"Hush"
"Communion"
"Lithium Blue"
"The Mask"

Vvon Dogma I are pioneers and trailblazers, eschewing moribund genre categorizations to create music both strange and beautiful, to misquote Shakespeare: ‘something unique this way comes’.

Inspired by artists as diverse as Radiohead, Meshuggah, Deftones, James Blake, Jean Baudin, Die Antwoord, Clint Mansell, Igorrr, Arvo Part and Hans Zimmer, Vvon Dogma I’s creative lynchpin Frederick Filiatrault aka ChaotH formerly of Unexpect explains his new band’s unusual name.

“Vvon Dogma I is an expression that I created that means to me the second incarnation of any entity, the evolution from one state of being to another one that is infinitely more powerful or conscious or evolved. Either it being through death when you leave your body to become pure soul, or a larger societal level where we are leaving the naivety and simplicity of the modern era and stepping into a more complex and conscious 21st century world. Vvon Dogma I is that moment when you step into your second incarnation and become infinitely more conscious.”

Fredrick was driven to form Vvon Dogma I when his previous band Unexpect parted ways. He had to find the right musicians and he had to create these songs in order to find inner peace.

“The songs were like living entities needing to be drawn into our world. The music is so original it is hard for me to categorise and it will definitely challenge music fans, but ultimately I think it will satisfy them beyond what any generic band copying what has gone before ever could.”

Frederick hopes the fans will get something truly special from the music that is a blend of everything he is musically and is definitely more accessible than what he has done in the past.

“I wanted to feature my freak instrument of a nine-string bass. It is often a Frankenstein of bits and pieces of writing. But I also want people to know it’s not about shredding or anything. I wanted to see how I could apply this weird playing style in a musically accessible venue. My art is song writing plus arranging and the 9 string is only one aspect of it. I find it definitely adds an interesting flavor. Hopefully people will see it for what it is as a whole.”

Vvon Dogma I’s debut EP Communion features four tracks experimenting with elements of prog, djent, funk, and electronic sampling to create a sound truly all their own. Their first single, the EP’s title track, is a trip for the true lovers of outside the box thinking, bashing the low ends with a pummeling and dominating 9 string bass accompanied by the ripping of an 8 string guitar along with some morbid electronic samples for good measure. “Communion” will definitely get the true avant-garde tech musicians anticipating more with the small taster.

Vvon Dogma I is:

9 String Bass / Vocoder: ChaotH (aka Frédérick Filiatrault)
Guitar: Yoan Marier-Proulx
Drumz: Kevin Alexander
Synths and Violin: Blaise B Léonard

STRYPER Recruits FIREHOUSE Bassist PERRY RICHARDSON

STRYPER Recruits FIREHOUSE Bassist PERRY RICHARDSON

Veteran rockers STRYPER have recruited FIREHOUSE bassist Perry Richardson. He joins the band as the replacement for STRYPER's longtime bassist Tim Gaines, who was fired from the group earlier this year.

"The first time I met the guys in STRYPER was in 1985, when my first band, MAXX WARRIOR opened for them in Charlotte, North Carolina," says Richardson. "From that first meeting, they have always been one of my favorite bands and a huge influence on me personally and musically. To have the honor of becoming a member of STRYPER today is an indescribable experience for me. I am so overwhelmed, I can't put it into words. To be asked to be a member of one of my favorite all-time bands is one of the greatest honors of my career. I'm so looking forward to being a part of this next chapter in STRYPER's legacy. I'm ready to rock the world with my new brothers!"

Adds STRYPER frontman Michael Sweet: "Perry is a perfect fit within our band. He's an amazing singer, an excellent bass player and just a great human being. The moment we first rehearsed with Perry, we knew that it was right. We sang harmonies, and the vocals sounded awesome. He shared stories of how STRYPER was one of his favorite bands and that he's always respected us. It meant a lot to hear him say that. He has brought a kind and humble spirit to the band. He is a professional and an absolute gentleman. His resume is quite extensive and as impressive as it gets. We're honored to have him on our team and we're extremely excited about the future!"

Gaines's exit from STRYPER had been rumored for months, ever since guitarist Oz Fox revealed that Tim was going through a divorce, forcing the group to take a hiatus and possibly consider a future without the bassist.

Gaines told KNAC.COM in August that "all hell broke loose" after he split up with his previous wife, "which is taboo as far as Christianity, I guess." He added: "I'm not the only guy in STRYPER to have gotten a divorce. Everybody in the band is married to divorced people. And I'm the bad guy, but everybody else has done it too, so? Whatever. Live in glass houses and everything will be exposed at some point or another."

A few days later, the remaining members of STRYPER released a statement denying that Gaines's divorce was a factor in their decision to part ways with the bassist and blaming Tim's "erratic and hostile behavior" for his dismissal from the group.

STRYPER is scheduled to enter the studio in November to begin work on in its new album for an early 2018 release.

Tim is currently working with FAITHSEDGE singer-songwriter Giancarlo Floridia on that band's fourth album, tentatively due in the fall of 2018.

MIKE PORTNOY Doesn't Plan On 'Revisiting' DREAM THEATER Material Once SHATTERED FORTRESS Tour Ends

MIKE PORTNOY Doesn't Plan On 'Revisiting' DREAM THEATER Material Once SHATTERED FORTRESS Tour Ends

Drummer Mike Portnoy (SONS OF APOLLO, ex-DREAM THEATER) was recently interviewed by Chile's Video Volante. The full chat can be seen below. A few excerpts follow (transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET).

On his recent detours away from progressive metal:

Mike: "Even though I made my name in progressive music with DREAM THEATER for twenty-five years, I could have gone down any road. When I went to Berklee, I met John Petrucci and John Myung and we formed DREAM THEATER because we wanted to do very progressive music — a lot of odd time signatures, long songs — but that was only one of my interests. I met them and we went down that road, but when I went to Berklee, I also was a big thrash metal fan. At that point, METALLICA was just coming out, and SLAYER and ANTHRAX and MEGADETH, so I could have went down that road. I was also a big classic rock fan — THE BEATLES, THE WHO, LED ZEPPELIN — so I could have went down that road, but I ended up going down the progressive rock road with DREAM THEATER. It's a difficult road, because it's for a very select audience — very long songs, very complex parts at times — but because it's such a select audience, they're also incredibly devoted, so that's why DREAM THEATER, over a long period of time, finally built up a big audience. When I left DREAM THEATER, that's when I wanted to do all these other styles. I do thrash metal with METAL ALLEGIANCE; I do classic rock with THE WINERY DOGS; I go out and play with TWISTED SISTER or AVENGED SEVENFOLD; so now I get to do all of these different things I like."

On his impressions of the "djent" scene:

Mike: "My son's band [NEXT TO NONE] is doing that sort of thing. They're kind of dabbling in the djent scene. It's a little bit like PERIPHERY, BETWEEN THE BURIED AND ME, MESHUGGAH. I think that stuff is amazing. I think it's the next logical step for progressive music. It's taking everything that's heavy and making it heavier, and everything that's complex and making it even more complex. It's all about eight-string guitars and crazy double-bass drumming, so I have an appreciation for it. To me, it's part of the evolution of progressive music. I think it's more like prog for this generation."

On SHATTERED FORTRESS, in which he performs DREAM THEATER's "Twelve-Step Suite":

Mike: "It's kind of like closure. I don't plan on revisiting DREAM THEATER material; I haven't revisited DREAM THEATER material since I left the band; so this is kind of like a one-time thing for me and the fans to finally get to experience this."

SHATTERED FORTRESS just completed a South American tour and will venture to Australia for six shows in November.

Portnoy's new progressive metal band SONS OF APOLLO released its debut album, "Psychotic Symphony", via InsideOut Music on October 20. The group sees him rejoin forces with former DREAM THEATER keyboardist Derek Sherinian and his THE WINERY DOGS bandmate Billy Sheehan (MR. BIG, TALAS, DAVID LEE ROTH), as well as guitarist Ron "Bumblefoot" Thal (ex-GUNS N' ROSES) and singer Jeff Scott Soto (YNGWIE MALMSTEEN, TALISMAN, JOURNEY).

DEAD QUIET Release New Song “Blood Lovers”

Dead Quiet's new album, Grand Rites, will be released on November 3rd. Pre-orders for Grand Rites are available at Bandcamp and iTunes. When you pre-order from iTunes you'll be able to own the songs “Blood Lovers”, “Spiritual Abuse”, “Fucking Oath” and “Dear Demon”, or you can listen to the songs via Apple Music or Spotify.

With influences ranging from doom metal to classic rock, Dead Quiet seeks to meld melody with catastrophe as they weave through a dissonant landscape of crushing metallic riffs and somber choral musings. While remaining loyal to crucial heavy metal foundations, the band is successful at pronouncing that heaviness with depth and honesty.

Having the addition of full time keyboard player Justin Hagberg (3 Inches Of Blood) to the creative process, the songs have seen a richer dynamic and further broadened their already ‘70s rock and early heavy metal characteristic.

With the release of Grand Rites on the horizon, Dead Quiet hope to continue traversing the globe, playing what has become well known as an ultra-energetic, charismatic and ear splitting live performance.

After just finishing a cross-country Canadian tour, supporting Season Of Mist recording artist Anciients, Dead Quiet will be playing a CD release party in Vancouver, BC on November 17th at Rickshaw Theatre.

PHINEHAS Release “Hell Below” Music Video; Dark Flag Album Due In November

Los Angeles-based metal band, Phinehas, have released the powerful new song and video "Hell Below”. The clip is available for streaming below.

"'Hell Below' is a dialogue between murdered North Korean civilians and the guilty Kim Dynasty, which has committed democide a thousand times over. It peers into the concentration camps that the higher ups of North Korea deny the existence of: where thousands are murdered, starved, tortured, and exploited every year," the band said. "This music video is Part One of Two of the story of 'Jayu' ('freedom 'in Korean) as he attempts to escape the grip of a North Korean concentration camp while freeing another prisoner along the way."

The band will release its new album, Dark Flag, on November 17 via Solid State Records. It's available for pre-order here.

Recorded by Chris Fielding of Conan in his Skyhammer Studio, Binge will be available on limited edition green vinyl, black vinyl, limited edition digipak CD and digital formats.

Since the release of their eponymous EP in 2014 the band has built up a huge buzz in the UK underground, resulting in support slots with Corrosion Of Conformity, Eyehategod, Pentagram, Weedeater, Yob, Windhand and Monolord among others. Binge combines the titanic riffs, monstrous grooves and West Yorkshire swagger that has made the band a must-see live attraction.
