Tracii Guns has spoken out against cell phone use at concerts, saying that L.A. GUNS would like to "connect with humans in the front" of the band's live shows "instead of cameras."

In a post on his Facebook page, Tracii wrote: "Okay, lol, I have to address this. YOUR CAMERA PHONES ARE DISTRACTING WHEN WE ARE PLAYING. If you are taking video, please don't leave your flash on — it blinds us. If you are videoing at the front of the stage, it seems to us you aren't involved in the moment. It would be nice if you could video from the back so we can connect with humans in the front instead of cameras."

He continued: "Sheesh, we live in an odd time. We love ya, but the camera phones are tripping us out. I am sure we aren't the only performers that are going through this."

A number of other musicians have come out in recent years to say that mobile technology is ruining the concert experience, including SLIPKNOT and STONE SOUR singer Corey Taylor. He told "Loudwire Nights" that "it's fine" if people want to take pictures of his bands' shows, but not so much if they are videotaping entire performances. "It's one thing to film it, it's another thing to just be staring at your screen while you're filming it," he said. "It's right there. Are you so terrified of real life that you can't do anything unless it's on that little four-by-four screen? Ugggh. It's very weird."

Former SKID ROW singer Sebastian Bach in 2015 urged fans to keep their cell phones at the bottom of their pockets and just watch his performances. "Be in the moment," he said. "You're distracted and it's distracting to the performer as well. Like, put your fuckin' cell phone away, dammit! You're never even going to watch that footage."

The overuse of cellphones to capture grainy, blurry photos and videos at concerts has for years vexed and enraged artists like Bach, who lamented the fact that every one of his performances could be recorded and shared on YouTube almost immediately.

"If I go to a wedding and sing a song, it's on Blabbermouth the next day and everybody analyzes it," said Bach. "It's a really backwards way to watch a band. It's a drag sometimes when I go up there and the first thing I see is everybody getting their phones out and holding them toward my face. It makes you feel intimidated."

Bach said that he finds it impossible to stand still while singing in concert because adrenaline takes over, leaving him open to criticism by making it difficult for him to deliver pitch-perfect performances.

"I try to tell myself that, but I can't do it," said Bach with a laugh. "The music gets in me and I want to move and jump. I don't want to stand there frozen like a tree and be filmed."

Back in 2012, Bruce Dickinson chastised a fan for texting during an IRON MAIDEN concert, calling him a "wanker."

The North American leg of METALLICA's "WorldWired" trek will hit stadiums in four more cities before ending in mid-August.

The next stop on the tour is Seattle, Washington on August 9.

The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame band is touring in support of its tenth studio album, "Hardwired... To Self-Destruct", which came out last November.

METALLICA drummer Lars Ulrich told Rolling Stone that the band was genuinely surprised to learn they could still play stadiums, saying, "It was like, 'Holy fuck, people really still care about this band in ways that you stopped taking for granted literally decades ago. It was very inspiring and kind of eye-opening."

He added: "Full stadium runs can sometimes be a little intimidating. There's all these things to worry about like, 'You should really try to play maybe only on the weekend,' and, 'Where do you play on Tuesday?' and some of those practicalities can get a little bewildering. We just threw caution to the wind. Doing a stadium run seemed like the perfect thing on the back of how well this record has been received and all the good will that's out there in METALLICA's world right now."

According to The Seattle Times, Chris Cornell's widow, Vicky Cornell, has hired the artist and sculptor Wayne Toth to create a statue of the SOUNDGARDEN frontman to be placed somewhere in Seattle, where the singer was born and nurtured his music career.

"He has already given me a design and the children and I love it," Vicky said of Toth, who created the statue of Johnny Ramone that stands at his grave at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery in Los Angeles, where Chris Cornell is buried.

Vicky said that it will take Toth about seven months to create to create the statue, for which Seattle attorney and family friend Mark Johnson is working with the city to find a location.

"He is Seattle's son," she said, "and we will be bringing him home and honoring him, I hope, with all of you, your love and support."

Cornell was pronounced dead on May 18 after being found unresponsive in his Detroit hotel room the previous night. SOUNDGARDEN had played a show earlier that evening.

The 52-year-old had sedatives and an anxiety drug in his system on the night he died by hanging himself. According to a completed toxicology report released by Michigan's Wayne County Medical Examiner, the drugs didn't contribute to the cause of death.

In addition to SOUNDGARDEN, Cornell sang with AUDIOSLAVE and TEMPLE OF THE DOG, while also recording four solo studio albums and one live set on his own.

"Betray And Degrade", the new video from SEETHER, can be seen below. The track is taken from the band's seventh full-length studio album, titled "Poison The Parish", which was released on May 12. The first release via frontman Shaun Morgan's new label imprint Canine Riot Records was recorded at Blackbird Studio in Nashville, Tennessee with Morgan taking the reins as producer. He told Billboard of manning the boards: "Ultimately, at the end of the day, I didn't want anybody else to answer to. For me, it was kind of a liberating experience, because I was making an album where I was getting it to sound like I always wanted it to sound like."

Morgan added that he learned much from SEETHER's previous producers: Jay Baumgardner, Bob Marlette, Howard Benson and Brendan O'Brien. "They're all great in their own right," said Morgan. "Of all the producers I learned the most from, [it was] definitely Brendan O'Brien. I learned from him what to do and I learned from the other guys what not to do, so with that kind of knowledge and having done six albums at that point, I figured I had enough information that I could try it myself."

SEETHER has logged more than twenty top 10 hits on Billboard's Mainstream Rock Songs chart, including the No. 1s "Remedy", "Fake It", "Country Song", "Tonight" and "Words As Weapons". They have also notched four top 10s on the Billboard 200 and have accumulated U.S. album sales of 4.5 million, according to Nielsen Music.

SEETHER is currently on the last leg of its North American tour and will embark on a European trek next month.

German/American heavy metal veterans ACCEPT celebrated the release of their new album, "The Rise Of Chaos", with a special performance last Thursday, August 3 at the Wacken Open Air festival in Wacken, Germany. The set consisted of three parts: a classic ACCEPT set, packed with new and old hits; ACCEPT guitarist Wolf Hoffmann playing tracks from his solo album, "Headbangers Symphony", with an orchestra for the very first time; and the entire ACCEPT band sharing the stage with the orchestra, supported by a complex multimedia show.

This unique concert experience took place on this year's "Night To Remember", which made it even more special. The "Night To Remember" is a celebrated, long-lasting Wacken tradition; for one night of the festival, an established band does something unique and special with its performance.

Hoffmann told Spain's MariskalRock TV about "The Rise Of Chaos": "It was recorded by the same team as the last three albums — it was Andy Sneap producing and Mark Tornillo on vocals and Peter Baltes [bass] and myself in the band. We have two new members, but other than that, it was recorded and written exactly the same way as all the other previous three albums. [It was] recorded mainly in Nashville, mixed in England. And, yeah, we took all of last year to write the songs, and I think it sounds [like] typical ACCEPT."

Regarding the "The Rise Of Chaos" title, Wolf said: "The title just seemed to come out of nowhere. It really seems to fit the times that we live in. It really means the world is getting more and more chaotic, and that's what we feel like. So when we had the [title track], it seemed to just fit the times that we live in. It's not really about any chaos in particular, but if you look at politics nowadays, there's chaos; if you look at the global warming or the climate change, that's chaotic; or a lot of the Syrian crisis and the refugees in the world, there's so much chaos around us. So that's what it is about."

GODSMACK paid tribute to Chester Bennington and Chris Cornell last night (Wednesday, August 9) during the band's appearance at Musikfest in Bethlehem, Pennsylvana by performing cover versions of songs originally written and recorded by the LINKIN PARK and SOUNDGARDEN singers, both of whom died by suicide within months of each other.

GODSMACK frontman Sully Erna told WFMZ-TV earlier in the day that the band decided to acknowledge the pasing of the two rockers because "we feel like it's kind of like our obligation to honor those guys that have left us with really beautiful music and left us a little bit too soon."

Prior to launching into stripped-down covers of LINKIN PARK's "Crawling" and TEMPLE OF THE DOG's "Hunger Strike", Erna told the crowd: "I just wanna bring up something here quick. I don't wanna harp on this too long, 'cause I want you guys to leave here in a really good mood with a good positive feeling, man. But, as you know, this last couple of years, it's been pretty tragic with all the artists that we've lost. It's been actually mind-blowing to me how many amazing performers, amazing voices we've lost to some really sad, tragic situations, and some of them were very close friends of ours.

"We just decided to do this today," he continued. "We haven't really rehearsed this, but we wanted to do something for you guys and we wanted to do something in honor of our friends that have left us with some beautiful music on this planet. So I think this one's gonna kind of speak for itself."

After Cornell committed suicide in May, Bennington sang at his funeral and also wrote a heartfelt message paying tribute to the SOUNDGARDEN frontman. In part, he wrote "I can't imagine a world without you in it." Bennington was also reportedly godfather to one of Cornell's children.

Chester died on July 20, which would have been Cornell's 53rd birthday.

Neither Chester nor Chris left a suicide note.

The two singers bonded when they toured together nearly a decade ago.

THE WILDHEARTS frontman Ginger (real name David Walls) has been hospitalized due to "serious ongoing issues" with his mental health.

His management team has issued a statement saying that Ginger is currently receiving around-the-clock care and, as a result, his previously announced U.K. shows (August 18 at Manchester's Dancehouse and August 19 at London's Union Chapel) have been postponed.

The statement reads: "It is with regret that due to serious ongoing issues with Ginger Wildheart's mental health, we will be unable to fulfil any scheduled live appearances in the very near future.

"Ginger is currently hospitalized and receiving around-the-clock care and is in the safest possible place. We ask that you please respect the privacy of Ginger and his family and friends at this difficult time.

"Thank you for your continued love and support, it is very much appreciated."

The news of Ginger's hospitalization follows reports that he spent a night in police custody following a gig in Ahogill, Ballymena over the weekend.

According to Hot Press, Ginger became involved in an altercation with an audience member at his acoustic show at The Diamond Club. The musician later tweeted that he had attempted to take his own life and revealed that he was being "sectioned" under the Mental Health Act, which is the law that sets out when you can be admitted, detained and treated in hospital against your wishes.

Ginger last year released a single titled "Fuck You Brain" to highlight suicide prevention and raise mental health awareness. At the time, he said of depression: "It is a disease, it does kill; in fact it kills more people each year than cancer. Everyone is fine talking about cancer — and so they should be — but cancer has all these charities that fund research, yet mental health gets no research funding from the government. It's an absolute crime."

Dead Quiet, heavy metal/stoner rock band from Vancouver, BC, signed with new label partner Artoffact Records late last week for a worldwide deal. 45 years after Pink Floyd’s David Gilmour filmed Live At Pompeii in the legendary Roman Amphitheatre there, he returned for two spectacular shows that took place on July 7th and 8th, 2016, part of his year-long tour in support of his #1 album, Rattle That Lock. The performances were the first-ever rock concerts for an audience in the stone Roman amphitheatre, and, for two nights only, the 2,600 strong crowd stood exactly where gladiators would have fought in the first century AD.

David Gilmour Live At Pompeii is an audio experience on its own, while the audio-visual spectacle features lasers, pyrotechnics and a huge circular screen on which specially-created films complement selected songs. Paramount, however, is the incredible music: the show includes songs from throughout David's career, as well as many Pink Floyd classics, including “One Of These Days”, the only song that was also performed at the band’s 1971 show.

Both concerts also saw very special performances of “The Great Gig In The Sky” from The Dark Side Of The Moon, which David rarely plays as a solo artist. The 2-disc concert CD was produced by David Gilmour, and mixed by Andy Jackson and David Gilmour. The 148-minute concert film includes highlights from both shows, filmed in 4k by director Gavin Elder. Pavement Entertainment has announced the signing of Texas metal band The Crowned. Formed by singer/drummer Marc Coronado in 2013, the band has taken the stage with popular acts such as Hellyeah, Flaw, Sons Of Texas, and many more. The band known for their gory music videos and live high energy performances has the metal scene taking notice.

In 2016, The Crowned caught the attention of Pavement Entertainment and signed an artist partnership deal. Their first full-length album, Apparition, is out now. On the new release, Coronado says, "Apparition is a living and breathing work of art. Each song is completely different from the last. A new venture for your ears from beginning to end. Truly a tough and brutal album for you to satisfy your metal needs."

Speaking about the tour, Ray West said: "I'm very psyched to go out on the Tesla tour. I've been a Tesla fan for a long time. I also happen to think Jeff Keith has one of the coolest voices around. For me it's a real privilege to be playing for their audiences. I have a good feeling we will connect with them. I'm all in, all positive!"

Ordine remembered being a kid when Tesla's Five Man Acoustic Jam came out: "I dug it. So it's always an honor to be able to tour with an artist I grew up listening to."

"Playing rock is a privilege that I don't take for granted," says West. "Performing live to an audience is very powerful and humbling at the same time. Fans at our shows can expect the high energy, emotionally charged assault, we have always delivered."

Ordine adds, "A total assault on their senses, full on every night."

Earlier this year, Weapons Of Anew halted their recording sessions to go on tour with Alter Bridge. "When we went out with Alter Bridge, as Weapons of Anew," states West, "we had never played a live show together before. I think we learned a lot about ourselves as performers and that our music translated well to a live audience."

Ordine states, "We were able to really dial the songs in on the Alter Bridge tour. They are exactly where we wanted them. They are burnt into us all now."

West continues, "Let's face it, most people don't go out to see the 1st band on a 3-band bill, so winning people over was our mission. We all worked very hard and as a band we felt it paid off. Audiences were very generous to us, but every fan that talked to us after the shows, asked 'We really liked you guys, how can I hear more songs? Where can I get the album?' Now we can say, well it's right here!"

Lock the mausoleum doors and chain up the cemetery gates. Long-standing gore metal maniacs, Exhumbed, re-emerge with their disgusting new album, Death Revenge. The band's sixth full-length sees them tread into ambitious new territory with their first concept album: a musical melodrama in thirteen parts based on shocking true events.

Death Revenge takes place in the late 1820s in Edinburgh, Scotland and tells the macabre tale of a series of brutal murders where the victims' cadavers were sold to anatomists, amid a grisly underground trade of grave-robbery. Recorded with producer Jarrett Pritchard (Goatwhore, Eternal, Gruesome), Death Revenge takes the band's signature gore-drenched, death metal mayhem to theatrical and ghastly new depths. Cover illustration is by Orion Landau with interior illustrations by Lucas Ruggieri.

Frontman Matt Harvey comments: "We're very excited to see this record come out. It's been a long time since we've fucked up your stereos! Regardless of your take on black metal forefathers Venom, they are the undisputed originators of extreme metal as we know it. Almost 40 years after their inception, the revitalized 1989-1992 lineup of guitarist Jeff "Mantas" Dunn, vocalist/bassist Tony "Demolition Man" Dolan and drummer Anthony "Abaddon" Bray have returned with a monster of an album.

Going into writing Avé, Venom Inc. realized their live performance was the key to creating an album that would be a metal classic. It was clear that any songs the trio came up with had to have the intensity, the honesty and the aggression that was happening for Venom Inc. in a live situation. Simply put, they needed to translate what they do on stage onto a record. Not once did they look back on the Venom catalogue and think, "We have to write another Black Metal or another Schizo..." The focus is on Venom Inc. and everything the rejuvenated three-piece do in the here and now.

It is a fine line to combine brutality, technical requirements and harsh accessibility in such a way, that the result leads to extreme songs, which listeners like to hear and which they can remember. Although a brand-new name, Hallatar features among its ranks Swallow The Sun and Trees Of Eternity guitarist Juha Raivio, Amorphis vocalist Tomi Joutsen, and former HIM drummer Gas Lipstick. In fact, one could see Hallatar as an extension of Trees Of Eternity, whose massively acclaimed debut for Svart, Hour Of The Nightingale, served as the swansong of vocalist Aleah Starbridge.

Juha Raivio explains the genesis of Hallatar: "After the death of my beloved and my life partner Aleah Starbridge last April, I have been gathering writings, lyrics, and the poems of Aleah to keep them safe and close to my heart. About one month after the world came down on the blackest day of my life on April 18th, I knew I needed to pick up the guitar and try to create something or I would be truly destroyed. And something did arrive out of the darkness, and I wrote the music for the Hallatar album in a week's time. I don’t have much memory of this week, not a memory of a single day of writing the music. But all I remember when going into this abyss of the writing process was a promise to myself that whatever music would come out, I would not touch or change anything of it afterwards. What mattered was that the music would stay forever as an absolute truth of those moments as they came out. I asked my good friends - and amazing musicians - Tomi Joutsen and Gas Lipstick if they would want to record this music with me, and both of them said yes without even hearing a note of it. I am forever grateful to both of them for sharing this road with me; even the weight of the process has not been easy to carry, or will be."

Adds Gas Lipstick, "I am grateful and very honored to be asked to join this band. Juha is a dear friend of mine since many years ago, and when he told me about his vision for Hallatar and asked me to join, I said yes instantly - I just had to be part of this amazing journey. I had never heard a single note of the music before I gave my 'yes' because I didn't need to. Juha has been one of my favorite songwriters already for years, and I knew that Hallatar will be a very deep, personal, and one-of-a-kind story which I wanted to help him to bring alive."

Continues Tomi Joutsen: "I have known Juha from the year 2007, when we worked together for the first time. A couple years ago, I had the privilege to meet Juha's life partner, Aleah Starbridge, who was such a beautiful person, inside and outside, and had an angelic voice out of this world. Aleah lent her voice on the latest Amorphis album, and we called her 'the whispering ghost.' When I heard about Aleah's passing last spring, it came as a total shock and heartbreaking news out of the blue. When Juha asked me if I would want to be part of this album and carry Aleah's flame with him, I didn't have to think twice. When everything has been taken, all that is left is the music. The sorrow strips us naked and leave us humble - this is how it sounds like."

Concludes Raivio, "What we recorded was a raw moment in time honoring the memory, lyrics, and poems of Aleah Starbridge with all its pain, beauty and darkness. There are no stars left upon the bridge to light the way anymore, but the music will always be a dim light, even in the darkest of the night."

Finnish folk metal superstars Korpiklaani have released a second official trailer for their first ever live Blu-ray/DVD+2CD package, Live At Masters Of Rock, out on August 25th through Nuclear Blast. The clip can be found below.

After hearing the title of the package, it's easy to conclude that it was recorded at the identically named festival in Vizovice, Czech Republic. But there's even more to be excited about, this release doesn't just include Korpiklaani's show from 2016, it even has a second full show from 2014 as bonus feature. The 2016 concert features guest appearances from Tero Hyväluoma (additional fiddler) as well as Toni Perttula (additional accordion player), Sami's identical twin brother. Mixing and mastering of  Live at Masters of Rock were handled by front man Jonne Järvelä himself.

Jonne comments, "This our first ever DVD release, which we are quite proud of. It has no backing tracks, no choirs, no samples, all the mistakes are included. It is just us, Korpiklaani, pure live rock 'n' roll."

He also adds, "I spent a lot of time during the mastering process with Svante Forsbäck who recently handled the Rammstein mastering and we worked hard to achieve the right ambience and crowd sound. So when you turn it up loud, it feels like you are right there in the middle."

Sami adds, "For us, our bigger shows means more folk musicians, which are much cheaper than pyro, for example my brother agreed to this show for a few beers and he doesn't even drink much!"

Dan Reed Network has released a new video for the track “Infected”, featured on the new album, Fight Another Day, out now. Watch the new clip below.

Fight Another Day marks the return of one of the most infectious and gifted bands to come out in the melodic rock world in the second part of the 80's. The new album was recorded primarily in the home town of members of DRN, Portland, Oregon, while most of the writing process took place in Dan Reed's private studio in Prague in the Czech Republic, where Reed currently resides with his family. Demos were sent back and forth between Derek Shulman (A&R for Frontiers), Brion James, Melvin Brannon Jr. and Rob Daiker, making notes and refining the songs over great distances via the internet. This process was not unlike with DRN composed songs back in the late 80's and early 90's as Dan Reed used to demo out songs on his Akai 12 track machine and bring the songs into rehearsals where the band members would then arrange and flesh out the band's classic 'funk rock' sound.

After the tracking was completed, band's keyboardist Rob Daiker went to work editing and mixing each track alongside Shulman and Reed, sending mixes back and forth, making notes and shaping and moulding the album to best represent what DRN sounds like currently, while paying respect to what brought the band to the world's attention back in the late 80's.

Heavy rockers Tower Of Babel, featuring guitar shredder Joe Stump (Raven Lord, Holyhell) and singer Csaba Zvekan (Exorcism, Raven Lord, Metal Machine), recently released their debut album, Lake Of Fire, via Lion Music. The album’s title track is now available for streaming below.

ARCH ENEMY performed its new single, "The World Is Yours", live for the first time on Friday, August 4 at the Rock Pod Kameňom festival at Sninské Rybníky, Snina, Slovakia. Fan-filmed video footage of the live premiere can be seen below.

"The World Is Yours" is taken from ARCH ENEMY's new album, "Will To Power", which will be released on September 8 via Century Media Records. Co-produced by guitarist Michael Amott and drummer Daniel Erlandsson, the disc was mixed and mastered by longtime collaborator and friend Jens Bogren (OPETH, AT THE GATES, DIMMU BORGIR). The disc's captivating cover artwork was designed by Alex Reisfar. "Will To Power" marks the second ARCH ENEMY album since the departure of longtime singer Angela Gossow and addition of her replacement, former THE AGONIST frontwoman Alissa White-Gluz. It will also be the first ARCH ENEMY disc to feature guitarist Jeff Loomis (ex-NEVERMORE), who joined the band in late 2014.

ARCH ENEMY's "As The Stages Burn!" DVD was released on March 31 via Century Media. The set contains video footage of the band's largest stage production to date from their performance last summer at the Wacken Open Air festival in Wacken, Germany.

ARCH ENEMY and TRIVIUM have announced plans for a co-headlining tour across North America this fall. Featuring support from English metalcore outfit WHILE SHE SLEEPS and New Jersey deathcore act FIT FOR AN AUTOPSY, the trek will kick off on October 27 in Orlando, Florida and make its way across the U.S. and Canada before finishing on December 6 in Houston, Texas.
