Video Premiere: AMON AMARTH

Video Premiere: AMON AMARTH's 'Deceiver Of The Gods'

The video for "Deceiver Of The Gods", the title track of the ninth studio album from Swedish metallers AMON AMARTH, can be seen below. The video features clips from the upcoming film "Northmen - A Viking Saga", which stars Tom Hopper, Ryan Kwanten, Ken Duken, and features AMON AMARTH frontman Johan Hegg as Valli.

"Northmen - A Viking Saga" was shot for eight weeks primarily in South Africa, with some additional shooting in Germany.

Johan commented on his role: "Valli is a very experienced warrior and has a strong bond with his younger brother Bjorn. Valli looks brutal with his broad back and leather-dominated clothing. He has already experienced and survived a great deal. His face is full of scars."

Plot synopsis: "In the 9th century a group of Vikings, commanded by captain Asbjörn, is approaching Britain, aiming to plunder the rich monasteries in the north of the island. But their ship gets caught in a storm and is smashed to pieces on the rocks off the coast of Scotland, the only part of Britain without any Viking settlements. When Inghean, daughter of the Scottish King Dunchaid, by chance falls into Viking hands, they see the opportunity for demanding a large ransom. King Dunchaid immediately sets his 'wolfpack' — a group of mercenaries well known for their savagery — on them. The Northmen with their hostage now have to force their way through the rough highlands, where they meet the brave and mysterious Christian monk Conall. Having the wolfpack close on their heels, a desperate race against time begins. A battle over life and death..."

"Northmen - A Viking Saga" is set to receive a theatrical release in Europe on October 23.

"Deceiver Of The Gods" sold around 17,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to land at position No. 19 on The Billboard 200 chart. The record arrived in stores on June 25, 2013 via Metal Blade Records.

Recorded at Backstage Studios in Derbyshire, United Kingdom, and produced, mixed and mastered by Andy Sneap (OPETH, MEGADETH, EXODUS, ARCH ENEMY, KILLSWITCH ENGAGE), "Deceiver Of The Gods" delivers ten fiery battle hymns made of buzzsaw riffs and epic harmonies all driven by vocalist Johan Hegg's commanding Viking roar and absorbing accounts of Norse crusades and treachery.

"Deceiver Of The Gods" comes adorned with another outstanding Tom Thiel-created cover portraying a mythical battle between the Norse Gods Loki and Thor. As an added bonus, Messiah Marcolin (CANDLEMASS) makes an appearance as guest vocalist on eighth track, "Hel".

NICKELBACK

NICKELBACK's CHAD KROEGER And AVRIL LAVIGNE Rumored To Be Headed For Divorce

According to The Pulse Of Radio, NICKELBACK frontman Chad Kroeger and pop singer Avril Lavigne are reportedly headed for divorce after a year of marriage. Inside sources revealed to Us Weekly, "It's over. He has been going around L.A. telling people that they are divorcing." The 39-year-old Kroeger proposed to the 29-year-old Lavigne in August 2012 after dating for just a few months. The couple were married in July 2013 at a ceremony in the South of France.

There has been no public hint of trouble in the marriage, with Lavigne just this past July showing off a 17-carat emerald-cut ring that Kroeger gave her for their first anniversary.

But a source told E! News that the couple is having "a lot of issues," explaining, "When they met, they were in work mode. They were doing a collaboration and that's where the attraction stemmed from. She was in the studio and he was producing her. She was also coming off some bad relationships where she didn't really feel appreciated as an artist. She felt she and Chad connected on that level."

Now that Lavigne's album didn't do as well as hoped, the source continued, "they're finding that they're not seeing eye to eye on a lot of things. There's jealousy on both sides. She flirts, he flirts. She's very insecure to begin with."

The same source told E! that Lavigne "was hoping, after this album, to take time off and start a family."

That could conflict with Kroeger's own career plans. NICKELBACK is set to release its eighth studio album, "No Fixed Address", on November 4, and plans to hit the road in early 2015 for a lengthy world tour in support of the new record.

Lavigne was married once before, to SUM 41 frontman Deryck Whibley. That marriage ended in 2009 after three years.

MACHINE HEAD Postpones North American Tour

MACHINE HEAD Postpones North American Tour

San Francisco Bay Area metallers MACHINE HEAD have released the following statement:

"It is with great disappointment that MACHINE HEAD must announce the postponement of our North American tour this fall.

"Our new album, 'Bloodstone & Diamonds', has taken longer to complete than expected and we had to make the difficult choice to either delay the album, let it go out as incomplete, or cancel the tour in order to properly finish and promote the album in the caliber it needs to be done. We decided postponing the tour was the best decision for the record.

"We feel this record is a milestone, we have something truly special here, but getting there has been a challenge.

"Our vocalist/guitarist Robb Flynn just returned from a press tour where he was playing rough mixes and incomplete versions of songs for the press just to try and keep everything on time for our November release date.

"Refunds will be available for tickets at point of purchase.

"Look out for rescheduled American tour dates for the beginning of the year.

"All [previously announced] European tour dates will remain as scheduled."

MACHINE HEAD will release its new album, "Bloodstone & Diamonds", on November 10 via Nuclear Blast Entertainment. The CD was recorded in part at GREEN DAY's JingleTown Recording compound in Oakland, California.

Regarding the "Bloodstone & Diamonds" album title, Robb Flynn said: "Without getting too philosophical on ya, bloodstone and diamonds represent two of the hardest materials on earth. It is also a lyric from the opening track of the album, 'Now We Die'.

"In many cultures, the bloodstone has been used as an amulet to protect against evil, and is the symbol of justice. Diamonds are the hardest natural material on earth (which is how we feel about our music), and it also represents the diamond logo I drew 22 years ago (in my wife's apartment on Dover St. in Oakland) that has become the symbol for the band."

Speaking about the musical direction of "Bloodstone & Diamonds", Flynn said: "There's definitely a lot of urgency on this record. It's a really heavy record arid there's a dark and evil vibe to a lot of it, but I feel like there's more of a rock vibe in there too. It's stripped down at times, and I like that. I think that sense of urgency has carried over from the demos we did, which were all done very quickly and spontaneously. We tried to keep that spontaneous vibe on the album."

He continued: "At one point we started getting really anal on the tracks and spending tons of time on stuff, and we'd listen back and say, 'You know what? This doesn't have the vibe of the demos.' The demos were so fuckin' frantic, so we changed our mindset and now it's a little bit looser. Some of the guitar takes are basically live. Often, 40 or 50 percent of a song came from a spontaneous, live take and that's killer! It adds energy and makes the songs feel alive."

DEVIN TOWNSEND PROJECT Announces European Tour Dates; Z² Album Trailer Video Streaming

Following the announcement of the long-awaited new Devin Townsend Project album, Z², and the subsequent lightning-fast sell out of London's prestigious Royal Albert Hall venue for his show on April 13th next year, they can now reveal an extensive run of European shows for 2015 which will include support from Periphery and Shining. They have already announced US dates with Animals As Leaders.

Devin had this to say: "Now that the recording and mixing for Z2 is finished, it's time to gear up for touring again! There's a bunch of events coming up, and one of them that I'm extremely proud to announce is a European headlining tour with support from the incredible Periphery and the insane Shining!

That's a heck of a lineup I think, each band is doing something unique from each other, yet are really well defined. It will be an opportunity for us to explore our back catalogue as well as the Z2 albums, Sky Blue and Dark Matters (from the upcoming double album, Z2).

One of the greatest things about doing this for as long as I have is that we get to do these sorts of awesome events. I can't even begin to express how honoured I am to share the stage with these incredible bands, and to have such overwhelming support from the audience lately. It's honestly just an absolute pleasure to do this.

So it is with great pride I invite you to the show! Hopefully we come near you, let's do this!"

SSS To Release Limp.Gasp.Collapse. Album In November; "Dead Wood" Track Featuring CARCASS

SSS To Release Limp.Gasp.Collapse. Album In November; "Dead Wood" Track Featuring CARCASS' Jeff Walker Now Streaming

Uncompromising crossover outfit SSS (Short Sharp Shock) will release their Prosthetic debut, Limp.Gasp.Collapse., on November 10th (November 14th in Germany/Austria/Switzerland).

With a background deeply rooted in the UK hardcore underground, SSS truly embody the "crossover" tag, bringing together an aggressive hardcore attitude, punk/crust defiance, metal precision and grindcore’s raw intensity. The band’s gritty style draws from such heavyweights as Discharge, DRI, Napalm Death, Infest, Terrorizer and Mötorhead. Nonplussed as always, the enraged lyrical content of SSS rails against a misanthropic modern age while never losing that self-effacing sarcasm that can cut the self-righteous to the quick. Alongside years of venomous live shows and an urgent socio-political message that is more important today than it ever was, here is a band that asks you to finally open your eyes and look around.

Surely the band's most dynamic and heaviest work to date, the message of Limp.Gasp.Collapse. is bold and uncompromising, its playing showing a band on top of their game. Artwork, seen above, was completed by Richey Beckett (Metallica, High On Fire, Converge, Kvelertak).

Check out a stream of the track "Dead Wood", featuring Carcass' Jeff Walker on guest vocals:

NICOLAS CAGE

NICOLAS CAGE's Son WESTON COPPOLA CAGE Releases New Heavy Metal Single 'Tell Me Why (Matriarch Of Misery)'

"Tell Me Why (Matriarch Of Misery)", the new heavy metal single from Weston Coppola Cage, the 23-year-old son of actor Nicolas Cage, can be streamed at this location. The track is expected to appear on Weston's upcoming debut solo album, "Prehistoric Dichotomy", tentatively due in February.

Speaking to StarPulse.com earlier in the year, Wes stated about his upcoming CD: "I'm excited about every single part of it. I'm quite pleased with the record. It's a perfect almagamation between industrial, folk — as in world — heavy metal, and symphonic, [with] a lot of instruments that haven't been used."

As the son of Nicolas Cage and Christina Fulton, Weston Coppola Cage grew up surrounded by the entertainment industry, which he took a liking to. Wes has not only followed in his father's footsteps, launching a career in film, but also built his resume in the music industry.

According to a press release, "Wes has been called a 'Modern-Day Mozart' with his fresh sound and creation of a new genre called 'Ghost Metal.' Some have said that his sound compares to that of a young David Bowie with the edge of Marilyn Mason."

Wes' acting career includes parts in "Drive Angry", "Rage", "Lord Of War", "Ghost Rider" and the independent film "Raven", among others. Wes has composed music for major motion pictures, including "Drive Angry", and has penned the song "Annihilate", which was featured on the soundtrack to the movie "Joe", directed by David Gordon (also the director of "Pineapple Express").

Weston was previously the frontman of the California-based black metal band EYES OF NOCTUM. Currently, aside from spending time in the studio preparing for the release of his new album, Weston and his wife Danielle are enjoying their time with their newborn son, Lucian Augustus Coppola Cage.

Is SLIPKNOT

Is SLIPKNOT's New Drummer A 'S**tbag'?

Laura Jane Grace, the lead vocalist for the punk-rock band AGAINST ME!, appears to have slammed the group's former drummer, Jay Weinberg (pictured), as a "shitbag" after it was revealed that Weinberg has joined SLIPKNOT as the replacement for Joey Jordison.

Weinberg — the 24-year-old son of Max Weinberg (BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN AND THE E STREET BAND) — was a member of AGAINST ME! from November 2010 until December 2012.

The musician joined AGAINST ME! shortly after he was ousted from MADBALL and following the departure of AGAINST ME!'s previous sticksman, George Rebelo.

Without mentioning Weinberg by name, Laura tweeted earlier today (Thursday, September 18): "Dear Slipknot, good luck with that. #shitbag"

Laura, who came out as transgender in 2012, previously revealed that she was notified of Weinberg's departure from AGAINST ME! via a tweet and that they have not spoken since his exit.

Asked by SPIN.com what caused Jay to leave AGAINST ME!, Laura said, "To be honest, I have no idea. He never said a word. I just woke up one morning and read on Twitter that he was leaving the band. [I] never talked to him since."

Press on whether she thinks Jay was weirded out by her transition, Laura said: "I have no idea. I have no ability to hypothesize about it. You would really just have to ask him."

In May 2013, Weinberg filled in for KVELERTAK drummer Kjetil Gjermundrod during the band's North American tour because Gjermundrod had to bow out of the run after experiencing significant pain in his arm.

SLIPKNOT announced in December 2013 that it had parted ways with Jordison, one of the band's founding members and key songwriters. SLIPKNOT frontman Corey Taylor said in a new interview with Metal Hammer that firing Jordison after 18 years was "one of the hardest decisions" the group ever made, adding that Jordison is "in a place in his life" which is "not where we are." Taylor said he could not get into specifics for legal reasons, but admitted, "It's when a relationship hits that T-section and one person's going one way and you're going the other. And try as you might to either get them to go your way or try and go their way, at some point you've got to go in the direction that works for you. This is me speaking in the broadest terms, with respect to Joey. I guess to sum it up, it was one of the hardest decisions we ever made."

Taylor said that the band is "happy right now and we hope that he is . . . he's just in a place in his life, right now, that's not where we are."

The singer would not answer whether drug use played a role in Jordison's dismissal, and confessed that he had not been in touch with his former bandmate. Taylor said, "I haven't talked to Joey in a while, to be honest. That's how different we are. It's not because I don't love him and I don't miss him. And it is painful; we talk about him all the time, but at the same time, do we miss him or do we miss the old him? That's what it really comes down to."

SLIPKNOT releases its fifth studio album, ".5: The Gray Chapter", on October 21. It's the band's first without Jordison and late bassist Paul Gray.

The identities of the band's new bassist and drummer have not been officially revealed, but both appeared — disguised in the same newly designed mask — in the video for "The Devil In I", the first single from the new album.

Nonetheless, it is widely believed that the new bassist is Alessandro "Vman" Venturella, who sports the exact same tattoo on his hand that was spotted on the hand of the new bassist in the video.

Dear Slipknot, good luck with that. #shitbag

DAVE GROHL Pays Tribute To GWAR

DAVE GROHL Pays Tribute To GWAR's DAVE BROCKIE At FOO FIGHTERS' Crowdfunded Concert In Richmond

Dave Grohl paid tribute to late GWAR frontman Dave Brockie (a.k.a. Oderus Urungus) during FOO FIGHTERS' crowdfunded concert last night (Wednesday, September 17) in Richmond, Virginia.

Brockie, who was based in Richmond, died in March of an accidental heroin overdose. He was 50 years old.

Said Grohl at one point during last night's show (see video below): "One of the greatest compliments, or non-compliments, I've ever gotten in my life… I remember seeing this interview [see video below] with Dave Brockie where they asked Brockie about [GWAR's] Grammy nomination, and somehow, he made his way to me, and he said, 'Dave Grohl, he's actually had teeth removed so he could fit more Grammy dicks in his fucking mouth.' So, right now, I've gotta give it up for Brockie. C'mon, let's give it up for Brockie."

FOO FIGHTERS' concert in Richmond was held at the 1,500-capacity venue called the National. Earlier this year, local fans launched a campaign to get the band to come to the city by selling 1,400 tickets at $50 a pop — before they even knew if the group would do it. The FOOs agreed to the gig in June.

Attendance was limited to those who bought tickets during the initial crowdfunding campaign, but two local businesses — Brown's Volkswagen and Sugar Shack Donuts — gave away the tickets they each earned from donating $5,000 apiece to the campaign.

The campaign was launched in March by Andrew Goldin, a freelance creative director and copywriter, who sought to bring the band back to his hometown for their first show in Richmond since 1998.

Goldin and three fellow organizers set their goal of selling 1,400 tickets at $50 each in order to convince the band to return. Donors' credit cards would only be charged if the show sold out, and the contributions would be returned if the band didn't agree to play.

FOO FIGHTERS' eighth album, "Sonic Highways", is due out on November 10.

Brockie was the second member of GWAR to die within the past three years. Guitarist Cory Smoot, who played the character Flattus Maximus, died of a heart attack on the band's tour bus in November 2011 at the age of 34.

Brockie was the last remaining original member of GWAR, which was founded 30 years ago.

The satirical metal band earned a following for its macabre, over-the-top costumes, offensive lyrics and graphic, gore-soaked shows, in which the band members performed as the descendants of alien warriors who arrived on Earth to enslave and slaughter the human race.

GWAR released its 13th album, "Battle Maximus", last year.

MESHUGGAH Release Video Trailer For Remastered I EP

MESHUGGAH Release Video Trailer For Remastered I EP

Continuing with the momentum of celebrating their 25-year anniversary, Sweden’s extreme metal deviants, Meshuggah, have released a video trailer for the upcoming September 26th reissue of 2004’s one song EP, I, via Nuclear Blast.

Album artwork and concept are courtesy of Meshuggah drummer Tomas Haake, who comments on the EP’s mutant resurrection:

"This 21 minute madness that is the song “I” is something we’ve always been extremely proud of!! Originally recorded for Jason Popson/Fractured transmitter record label, this was a “one off” that NB gave us the go ahead for - as we were under contract with them. Our plan was to just quickly write a little nugget of a song to help our friend Jason to kinda kickstart his label. It wasn’t quick however. We ended up spending a couple months on this thing as it just kept evolving and kind of took on a life of its own. This song is really different as it wasn’t “written” in the normal sense, but recorded without anything more than very open guidelines/ideas as to what kind of style we wanted each part to have. For examples, the initial 1½ minute drumfill is an excerpt of around a 15 minute recording of me just randomly going off on a kick/tom fill. Once we had chosen which part of it to use, we had to chart out the hits on paper and guitarist Fredrik and Marten then basically used sight-reading/avista to get the hits right while recording. And this is how we continued through the whole song/process.

We often get the question “When will you guys play "I"?” - And though I’m sure it could be done with a lot of listening and hard work - It’s really too unstructured a track. It would take up too much time and effort to make sense.

We’re super stoked now, to have this be re-released under the NB flag. Distribution and access to this little demon of a song was never quite what we had wished back when this was released, so we’re thrilled to see it be brought back to life!!

To further add value to this re-release, we added a couple live tracks and another weird little track “Pitch Black” that some of our fans may have heard but probably not all, as it was only released in a limited number. Enjoy!"

I’s 21-minute title track has been remastered and includes two live tracks recorded during the 2012 - 2013 Ophidian Trek World Tour, plus a previously unreleased studio track recorded in July 2003 at Meshuggah'S own Fear & Loathing studio in Stockholm, Sweden.

WHILE HEAVEN WEPT Release First Suspended At Aphelion Trailer Video

WHILE HEAVEN WEPT Release First Suspended At Aphelion Trailer Video

Virginia metallers, While Heaven Wept, are commemorating their 25th year with the release of their sixth full length album, Suspended At Aphelion, via Nuclear Blast this October. The first album trailer, focusing on the artwork, can be seen below:

Suspended At Aphelion is a single track divided into 11 parts, performed by the entire Fear Of Infinity line-up as well as several esteemed guests, including Fates Warning alumni drummer Mark Zonder and co-founding guitarist Victor Arduini - uniting two eras of Fates Warning for the first time ever.

Heaven Wept mainman Tom Phillips offers more insight into the album: "While most of our albums have been thematic, this is the first time we've released something entirely of a conceptual nature in the grand tradition of Pink Floyd, Genesis, Rush, Marillion, Iron Maiden, King Diamond, Queensrÿche and of course Fates Warning...and musically, this album falls somewhere in the middle of all of that with a touch of Viking-era BATHORY as well."

The signature sound of While Heaven Wept remains fully intact, yet has evolved; Phillips explains: "We've always been characterized by emotional sincerity, bombast, sweeping melodies, and dense orchestration, and »Suspended At Aphelion« is no exception - however, this really is another level for us in that it's the first album featuring all-new material composed in this decade (as opposed to previous releases which often culled from years of archival material), it's full of twists, turns, modulations, time changes, harmonic content rarely heard in metal, and tons of counterpoint. This is all augmented by actual cellos, violins, classical guitars, an array of percussion, and genuine analog synths."

"Over the last few years, we've had some audiophiles reaching out to us regarding the "loudness wars", so we were very much committed to delivering an album with a wide dynamic range, with very little peak reduction or compression...insuring it was as dynamic and organic as possible versus being Pro-Tooled to death or overtly compressed/limited for loudness...not unlike our labelmates Satyricon, who definitely impacted our approach to »Suspended At Aphelion«...so you may have to turn it up compared to X album from 2014, but we feel like this epic journey is even more gratifying because of this."

LIAR SYMPHONY

LIAR SYMPHONY

Brazilian band Liar Symphony has released a lyric video for “Welcome”, the opening track of Before The End, the new album from the heavy metal group.

The assembly was taken by vocalist Nuno Monteiro. "The lyric of this song is very heavy and realistic, because we are transforming the place we live. So, I used images that portray this question, and I believe that the set of image, music and lyric made perfect sense. It works like a real 'welcome' for our new album and upcoming songs on the CD", explains Monteiro.

The Portuguese guitarist Pedro Esteves talks about the musical part: "This song is very strong, has a powerful riff and striking guitar, we couldn’t choose another song to open this work. It has several tempo changes, with a killer drums, effects of obscure keyboard and a very marked and strong bass. The melodic line of the voice is very strong and has great chorus ‘details’. Was the first song composed to this CD and is one that I like best, I think it sums up what is today the Liar Symphony: Modern, heavy, but without lose their characteristics", boasts Pedro, who also produced the album.

Before The End, the fifth studio album from the group, brings the total of twelve tracks, and will be released by the label Encore Records, later this month. On October 11th, the Liar Symphony will make a show at Manifesto Bar in São Paulo / Brazil, which will act as heating for the tour of the new album.

METALLICA To Release 27 Live Albums On CD

METALLICA To Release 27 Live Albums On CD

METALLICA's official web site has been updated with the following message:

"We've been extremely proud to offer virtually every show we've done in the past ten years as a download within days of the shows happening... sometimes even hours! Over the years we've been able to offer more download options adding HD audio and Apple lossless files to the mix, but we still get requests for the 'old-school' compact disc. To celebrate ten years of Live Metallica, we're going to make that happen! Starting today through the end of this year, every show that we've played in 2014 will be released on CD! We are gonna roll out three shows at a time on Mondays.

"We want to keep it simple so we'll go in order of when the shows were played starting with Bogotá, Colombia, Quito, Ecuador and Lima, Peru from the March South American run. Next week the next three shows will be available and so on. For those of you who want it all, we're also giving you a chance to pre-order a box set with all 27 shows included, which will ship in December. There's that special concept of a volume discount and you'll have a box to store all your CDs in. CD's will be priced at the very clever price of $19.81 a pop with the box set at $417.00 (spot the savings!) and you can place your orders at either LiveMetallica.com or in the Met Store.

"And for you vinyl junkies, select shows will be released on limited-edition 180-gram vinyl early next year. And once again, we here at your friendly METALLICA HQ want your input as to which shows you would like to see on vinyl... YOU choose from the 27 shows we've played this year by voting for your favs here. We'll take the top four that receive the most votes and press them up for you to order in early 2015. Voting will close on September 26.

"Let us know what you think and look for many more releases and some cool box sets in the New Year!"

METALLICA's performance at the Heavy Montreal festival in early August marked the sole North American date on the "Metallica By Request" tour, which hit Europe and South America earlier in the year. The trek featured the band playing 17 songs requested online by fans in each city, with the final slot in the set list taken by a new song, "Lords Of Summer".

METALLICA drummer Lars Ulrich told Metal Hammer in an interview that "Lords Of Summer" went over well with fans hearing it live on the band's "By Request" tour. Ulrich explained, "It's fun to play. It seems like the kids are enjoying it. There was actually somebody in the 'Snake Pit' the other day with a homemade 'Lords Of Summer' T-shirt on, which was very endearing."

Ulrich added, "It's a good song. Hey, listen, who knows by the time the next record comes out whether it will be in its same shape or format. But it's fun to play. And I think it's going down well, from what I can tell, from my little spot."

Ulrich said that in the past when the band has played fresh material live, sometimes the songs have not even had finished lyrics or titles. But he remarked that "Lords Of Summer" is "a little further along in terms of it being, sort of, together, so we're quite comfortable playing it. It's kind of written for this tour."

The drummer recently told "Metal Zone" about the band's next record, "I'm pretty convinced that 90 percent of the record is actually written, it's just gotta be kind of assembled between all those riffs. It's just a matter of connecting this to this and sort of shaping it into a song."

Frontman James Hetfield said something very similar when The Pulse Of Radio asked him a while back about the status of the band's new material. "We've come up with enough material for a record, for sure," he said. "We've gone through maybe one-tenth of the material that's on our riff CDs, but we've got enough for an album. We just haven't had the time to really focus on it and dial in and start whittling at these masterpieces, hopefully."

'Fear Clinic' Film Featuring SLIPKNOT/STONE SOUR Frontman COREY TAYLOR: World Premiere Announced

"Fear Clinic", the new horror flick which marks SLIPKNOT and STONE SOUR frontman Corey Taylor's first featured role in a film, will receive its world premiere on October 22 at the Screamfest Horror Film Festival in Hollywood, California. Taylor, along with the movie's director, Robert Hall, will be on hand for a question-and-answer session.

For more information, click here.

"Fear Clinic" stars Robert Englund, best known as Freddy Krueger in "A Nightmare On Elm Street", as Dr. Andover, a doctor who treats patients afflicted with crippling phobias by inducing hallucinations inside an invention he calls the Fear Chamber.

"Working with Corey was amazing," said Hall. "He's such a huge horror fan and his enthusiasm and excitement shine through. His involvement brings the film to a whole new level, and fans are going to freak when they see him in the role."

As a lifetime horror fan, Taylor said, "I'm such a horror geek, comic geek and action figure geek. I'm inspired by so much — from Hunter S. Thompson and Quentin Tarantino to 'The Dark Knight' and 'Halloween'. Just show me something that doesn't suck, and I'm happy," he laughed.

Taylor told The Pulse Of Radio what it was like to work with a horror icon like Englund. "One of the coolest dudes I've ever met," he said. "You know, we were sitting in the makeup trailer and he's telling me stories from the '80s of being at the Rainbow with GUNS N' ROSES and I'm like, 'Please tell me more!' You know? Sweetest dude I've ever met, super fun, super awesome and we had a really good time like making that stuff. And I had a handful of scenes with him and I, I had a really good time."

Taylor told Full Metal Jackie about his involvement in "Fear Clinic": "That was a blast! I was approached by [METALLICA bassist] Robert Trujillo. His friend Robert Hall was the director for 'Fear Clinic' and Rob had offered Robert the part. But Trujillo couldn't do it; he was going to Antarctica with METALLICA. He said, 'Who is someone you’d love to work with?' I guess Rob said Corey Taylor. So he put us in touch and within two weeks I was on the set. It was pretty sweet."

He continued: "I had always said I wanted to be in a movie and try my hand at it. It was kind of the perfect opportunity." He added: "It was a fantastic learning experience. I learned a lot just from watching everybody. I really got into it, I grew a mustache for the part so I could look extra creepy. I had a super blast with it."

In the film, which began life in 2009 as a five-episode series for the web site FearNet.com, Taylor plays a clinic employee named Bauer who struggles to keep things under control when all hell breaks loose. The movie centers around one traumatic event that induces phobias in a group of different people.

RAGNAROK Take Fans By Surprise With New Vocalist Announcement; Founder / Drummer Jontho Steps To The Mic

RAGNAROK Take Fans By Surprise With New Vocalist Announcement; Founder / Drummer Jontho Steps To The Mic

It has been several months since one of Norway's iconic black metal bands, Ragnarok, announced the departure of vocalist Hans Fyrste, and since then there has been much speculation as to who will replace him, with several high profile names being thrown into the mix by fans. But until now the band has kept quiet about their choice, whilst at the same time rehearsing the new lineup behind closed doors. And now that the announcement can be made, there is no doubt at all that it will surprise most fans - because the new vocalist will be drummer and Ragnarok founder Jontho himself, and his place behind the drum kit on stage will be taken by Dauden drummer, Malignant.

It might seem strange that Jontho, who is one of the most well known and respected drummers on the black metal scene, and who has played in various bands such as Tsjuder, Endezzma, and Shadow Dancers during his long and formidable career, should decide on a change of direction, especially with a band that he founded 20 years ago, but, as he explains, he is not entirely abandoning his drums...

"When Hans Fyrste left I sat down together with bass player DezeptiCunt and guitarist Bolverk, and we knew that finding the right person who would fit Ragnarok's ethos both in terms of performance and live appearances was not going to be easy. On top of which we had to begin work on our eighth full-length album, and we didn't want to have to rush into anything we might later come to regret, so we took the decision that I would continue to handle the drums in the studio, as well as taking on the vocals both in the studio and on stage, and that Malignant would drum for us live on stage.

Although I'm known as a drummer, I'm not a stranger to performing vocals, having done backing vocals on some of Ragnarok's albums. It would be fair to say that am tired of front men who do not give their all and quit the band, so, since I am the most stable member and the de facto front man from the beginning, even though I played the drums, I will now front the band as I should have years ago.

Of course, doing vocals live in front of an audience is definitely a challenge, but one that I was interested in trying after all these years behind the drum kit. Will I continue as Ragnarok's vocalist after the release of the next album? That remains to be seen, but for the time being it's something I'm looking forward to."

Jontho's first appearance on stage as vocalist with Ragnarok will take place on October 4th at the Stadthalle in Schweinfurt, Germany, when the band is set to appear at Norwegian Hellcamp, the new festival which, as its name suggests, is devoted entirely to Norwegian black and extreme metal. Along with Ragnarok in the lineup are Taake, Slagmaur, Vulture Industries, Endezzma, Sarkom, Den Saakaldte, and Aura Noir.

Aside from working on their next album, Ragnarok are also currently in the middle of planning some South American dates later this year.

The official video for the title track from Ragnarok's seventh full-length album, Collectors Of The King, can be seen below:
