Bulgarian black metallers, Matubes, will release their new album on December 21st. The band released their debut EP The Return Of Black Metal in September. The new album artwork can be seen below.

Groove-heavy hard rock quartet HazeXperience today released their holiday single, "Helluva Xmas," available on iTunes, Amazon, and other online music outlets. The raw, raunchy, rollicking rocker features an instantly catchy shout-along chorus and tells the tale of a Christmas like no other.
 
The band, anchored by original Y&T drummer and founding member Leonard Haze, features vocalist Jeffrey Winslow (Syrym), guitarist Jimmy DK (Byrnie Baker Band, Luvhed), and bassist David Blakely (Sammy’s Good Eye).

 
"'Helluva Xmas' knocks the usual Christmas music concept on its ear," said Winslow. "This definitely ain't your grandma's Christmas song."
 
Haze added, "The song is fun, loud, and outrageous, and it rocks. What more could you ask for?"

Haze was also one of the principal songwriters for Y&T, co-writing some of their biggest hits, including "Hurricane," "Black Tiger," "Mean Streak," "Rescue Me," "Dirty Girl," "Forever," and MTV staple "Summertime Girls." With Y&T, Haze headlined shows featuring opening acts such as Van Halen, Mötley Crüe, and Stevie Ray Vaughan, as well as touring the world alongside such acts as AC/DC, Aerosmith, Ozzy Osbourne, and Rush. He subsequently recorded and performed with the likes of Ronnie Montrose, Tony Iommi, Ian Gillan, and many others.
 

Winslow is best known for his work as the lead vocalist for Syrym, featured on songs such as "Ugly On The Inside," "Foul Mouth Blues," and "What I'm Trying To Say."
 
Jimmy DK has served as both guitarist and bassist with acts like the Byrnie Baker Band, Luvhed, and others, and has opened for artists such as the Chambers Brothers and Elvin Bishop.
 
Blakely has played bass with members of Levert, Dazz Band, and George Clinton, and has performed at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Primal Fear bassist Mat Sinner has checked in with the following update:

The worldwide release of the new Primal Fear studio album, Rulebreaker, is set for January 29th, 2016. The next single from the album, “In Metal We Trust”, is streaming below.

Available in CD, deluxe CD/DVD and - in collaboration with Soulfood Music in Germany - Rulebreaker is also available on vinyl and a special super-limited vinyl edition version featuring an eagle head on the vinyl. Rulebreaker combines the strongest Primal Fear moments ever, with a well-balanced typical Primal Fear trademark riff-vibe, crushing songs and some very ambitious musical journeys.  Pre-orders for Rulebreaker will be unveiled soon.

After the massive Delivering The Black world tour, Primal Fear started the songwriting in spring 2015 and recorded at Hansen Studios in Denmark, with producer Mat Sinner and engineer Jacob Hansen (Volbeat, Pretty Maids, Amaranthe). Mat Sinner adds: "We learned a lot during the Delivering The Black sessions and the following world tour. We tried to put this know-how and all the positive energy into the songs and production of Rulebreaker. Working the second time with Jacob Hansen and even recording in his studio, gave another dimension to our sound, plus the recording comeback of founding member Tom Naumann was the right move.”

Classic and ultra-fresh Primal Fear have created riff-rockers like the album opener "Angels Of Mercy," and groove monsters "The End Is Near" and "Bullets And Tears" which hit the bulls-eye from the beginning. The album features another untamed speed killer "In Metal We Trust" and the metal anthem and title track "Rulebreaker". The melodic and unique ballad "The Sky Is Burning" shows a different side of Primal Fear with a new vibe and a monster chorus. And of course, Primal Fear included again an 11-minute plus prog metal tour de force entitled "We Walk Without Fear", spiced with big orchestral arrangements and complex sound designs.

The third member of the Belgian death metal triarchy together with Aborted and Emeth are none other than Fractured Insanity, and the band is back and ready to unleash their third album Man Made Hell for early 2016.

After the release of their 2010 album Mass Awakeless through Xtreem Music, Fractured Insanity played intensively including an UK tour with Avulsed, but later on, the band saw the departure of two members (bass player and vocalist) getting Stefan Van Baal (ex-Upperhand, ex-Ordeal, ex-Blood Redemption) to take care of both duties thus Fractured Insanity passed from five to a four-piece band without losing the slightest sight of their trademarked brutality.

2015 has seen Fractured Insanity recording a two song promo demo and in the summer, the band started to record their  album Man Made Hell that was just mixed and mastered again at famous Poland’s Hertz Studios.

There's no release date for Man Made Hell, but it should happen around February/ March 2016. As soon as Xtreem Music gets the finished recording and cover artwork, they’ll reveal it along with tracklist and a definite release date.

Italian rock/metal band, Heretic’s Dream, will release their new album, Floating State Of Mind, in February via Sliptrick Records. A new video will be released in January. The band have also signed a new deal with Alpha Omega Management.

Vocalist Francesca states: “Getting part of the Alpha Omega family is a huge honour to us. We will do our best to deserve it throughout the next year, which is announcing very challenging. In January we'll be releasing the new video, then on February Floating State of Mind, our third studio album. We had to face several changes in 2015, but we all know that great things come with sacrifices and tenacity. Some milestones have been achieved, keeping our passion and will always strong. We recently welcomed the amazingly talented Alfonso Mocerino as the new drummer, and the great Marco Piceno as second guitarist. We proudly signed with Sliptrick Records in May and with American High Road Publicity in November, and renewed our cooperation with Rock'N'Growl Promotion and Safe & Sound Promotion. Now that the deal with the international known management Alpha Omega has been agreed, everything is set to spread our heretic sound as much as possible around. In July 2014 the band started working with producer Gianmarco Bellumori for the pre-production of the new album, Floating State Of Mind. The album marks a real change in sound and arrangements more into progressive metal with a rock vocal approach and multiple layers of vocal melodies.

Norwegian black metal titans Ancient, who recently signed a global deal with Alpha Omega Management, are set to release their new album Back To The Land Of The Dead in February 2016. Ancient features Zel (aka Aphazel) on vocals/guitars/keyboards, Dhilorz on guitars/bass and Nick Barker on drums, and just recently the band announced Ghiulz Borroni, esteemed shredder of extreme metal scene and lead guitarist of the legendary cult band Bulldozer, to be the band's live session guitarist.

The frontman Zel comments:

Robert Plant has recorded an exclusive single for the The British Red Cross in the wake of the refugee crisis. The former Led Zeppelin front man, 67, recorded a new version of Elbow's track, “The Blanket Of Night”, which tells the tale of refugees attempting a treacherous journey to seek asylum.

The cover will appear on The Long Road - an album which will raise money to support refugees and asylum seekers in the UK.

Speaking about the project, Plant said: “We have a worldwide international catastrophe - talking about it is one thing, doing something about it is another. The position we are in, it’s paramount we all do our best one way or another to help.”

The Temperance Movement have released footage of the band performing a new song, "Time Won't Leave", which features as an exclusive bonus track on the iTunes edition of their upcoming new album, White Bear. The band recently revealed their soulful cover of the classic Blur song, “Tender”. The video was recorded at the iconic Abbey Road Studios and perfectly captures the open-minded spirit of the band that was inspired by the musical history steeped in the venue that surrounded them.

Guitarist Paul Sayer comments, "The main reason for particularly wanting to cover Blur was that they're a band that was really of our childhood. As great as it is when you're growing up to discover all the amazing, timeless bands in your parents record collection, there's nothing like hearing fresh, new music when you're 14 and knowing that you're a part of the generation that's hearing it for the first time. That's what Blur was for us. “Tender” was the perfect Blur song for us to cover because although they're as indie as it gets that song has a huge amount of soul in it, which is something we feel we have in our music as well."

Damon Wilson adds, "Britpop was possibly England's last great music revolution. We wanted to celebrate those heady days when guitar music ruled the waves and people were excited around the world by British music. With a nod to The Beatles we decided Abbey Road Studios would be the perfect destination. Tender is something of a rarity for Damon Albarn and Blur with its echoes of American gospel. It resonated with our love of soul and roots music."

With a mantra for recording songs in three takes or less, their version of “Tender” exemplifies the quality of musicianship that sets The Temperance Movement in a class above many bands, and why their eagerly anticipated new album White Bear was tracked in only a few weeks.

Due to be released on January 15th, 2016, the follow-up to their 2013 self-titled debut was recorded with producer Sam Miller in London, Northamptonshire and Monmouth and features 10 stomping new blues-rock anthems. The band will support White Bear with a UK tour which kicks off the day after the album's release.

The Temperance Movement guitarist, Paul Sayer confides, "White Bear is a real step on for us sonically and artistically. Playing so many shows together over the last 3 years allowed us to develop a really clear idea of where we wanted to go with our next record. When it came to making this album we had a bit more time and space to let our creativity go, and I'm incredibly proud of what we achieved."

Whilst on the album title, White Bear, singer Phil Campbell notes, "Nick called me with the title which inspired the lyric to the song. It refers to a study by Daniel Wenger on mindfulness and the controlling of unwanted thoughts, testing a quote from Dostoevsky's 'Winter Notes on Summer Impressions': 'Try to pose for yourself this task: not to think of a polar bear, and you will see that the cursed thing will come to mind every minute.”

On January 25th, 2016 My Kingdom Music will release Deathrising, the new Motus Tenebrae full-length album, the fifth in their 15-year career which signals the return of singer Luis McFadden. In anticipation of the new album, the band has launched the video for the title track and can be seen below.

The video was created by Andrea Falaschi, drummer and artist of the band and he comments: "The song ‘Deathrising’ is very representative of our new album and our hard work of the last couple of years. It is utter with a very old school Gothic doom sound and the final result of the video clip is absolutely as we expected and wanted to represent."

The album was mastered at the well-known Imperial Mastering Studio in California by Colin Davis and represents a new chapter in their vision of Gothic doom metal, expanding the essence of dark music to a new level.

A new track from Canadian trio “Empress (In Ruin” is streaming below. The track is from the group’s upcoming fourth studio album, In Ruin, out January 8th via The End Records (out in Europe January 29th via High Roller Records).

Birmingham-based label HeviSike Records announce the signing of Elevators To The Grateful Sky, and with it the release of their brand new album, Cape Yawn, in March. In what will be the second full-length album for the Palermo, Italy-based band, Cape Yawn marks a dramatic shift in both gear and sound for the heavy psych rockers who first came to light with the release of their self-titled debut EP in 2011.

 
Formed by friends Sandro Di Girolamo (ex-Undead Creep) and Giuseppe Ferrara – both of whom cut their teeth as the brutal (and now defunct) death metal set Omega – Elevators To The Grateful Sky pull together and package a diverse range of influences from each band member’s distinct experience. Joined by Bonham-worshipping drummer Giulio Scavuzzo and guitarist Giorgio Trombino the band is a pressure cooker filled to the brim with psychedelic metal, doom, classic and groove-laden rock.
 
Serving their early days in their native Palermo, it didn’t take long for their EP to find its way onto the desk of Swedish label Transubstans Records who jumped at the chance to release their debut album Cloud Eye in 2013. An out-and-out foray into the darkened days of early grunge and straight up heavy 70s rock and roll, fast forward to Cape Yawn and the band has developed even further. Complimenting and drawing on influences as diverse as Danzig, Fu Manchu and legendary alt rockers Morphine (the song “Laura” on Cape Yawn is dedicated to the band’s lead singer Mark Sandman) to galvanize their songwriting talents, Elevators To The Grateful Sky produce something entirely of their own making. It’s an album that will keep audiences guessing and leave no rock lover wanting.

During an interview with METALLICA's fan-club magazine So What!, the band's frontman, James Hetfield, was asked if bassist Robert Trujillo doing his projects and guitarist Kirk Hammett pursuing his horror-related ventures has given him more fortitude to develop some projects like that for himself. He responded: "That's a great question, because, for me, it's always been if anyone does something else, it waters down the potency of METALLICA. That's always been the thought around it. But I guess if they do it, it's okay, but if I do it, it's not, because I'm the frontman, or Lars [Ulrich] is the drummer. We're the founders. We can't do that kind of stuff."

Asked if he still feels that way, Hetfield responded: "I think it's always been like that, and I still feel that a little bit. And I think METALLICA, for Lars and myself— I'll speak mainly for me, but I know he feels the same way — METALLICA is our side project too. It's our main project, it's our side project, it's our 24-7 project. It doesn't mean that I don't want to try other things, like voiceover work, a book, photography, art, cars… you name it. I want it to add to me, not subtract from METALLICA."

He continued: "Before, I might have come to the table with a negative attitude around side projects: 'You're doing that, which means you're not into this band as much as I am or Lars is.' I'm tired of that feeling and I'm tired of that resentment.

"At the end of the day, I know Lars and I are the guides of this. We steer METALLICA most of the time, and the other two guys are very happy that that is the way it is. And we're all equal. We're all contributing in our way. But I think Lars and I are very comfortable being the spearheads of it. And we are in a great spot right now, because everyone knows the band is prioritized above everything, but everyone also feels free to to explore other things."

Former METALLICA bassist Jason Newsted said in a 2014 interview that he left the band fifteen years ago over the way his then-side band, ECHOBRAIN, was handled. Newsted explained: "The management of METALLICA was very, very excited about ECHOBRAIN, wanted to take it out for me, wanted me to do ECHOBRAIN also, with METALLICA. They felt ECHOBRAIN was that good, the singer was that good, and it didn't affect METALLICA because it was a totally different kind of thing, and I was in METALLICA; that would give it its pedigree already."

Newsted continued: "They had told me, pretty convincingly, 'This is a great record, we've been playing it around the office, that's all I’ve been hearing, it's fantastic, this kid has a great voice. Let's do something with this.' That's what they told me, and then James [Hetfield] heard about it and was not happy. He was, I think, pretty much out to put the kibosh on the whole thing because it would somehow affect METALLICA in his eyes, because now the managers were interested in something I was doing that had nothing to do with him."

Newsted told The Pulse Of Radio a while back that he never saw how ECHOBRAIN could have interfered with METALLICA. "I never felt that it was going to affect METALLICA in any way," he said. "There was no way that it could. The monster and the integrity and the legend that METALLICA's built, it would take a lot more than that to ever affect it."

Newsted added: "The people that I had counted on for 15 years to help me with my career, help METALLICA, take care of my money, do all of those things, told me, 'Your new project is fantastic, we'd like to help you with it.' James heard about it, the manager calls me back a couple of days later — 'Sorry we're not going to be able to help you with that ECHOBRAIN thing.'"

ANTHRAX bassist Frank Bello has commented on the events of November 13 in Paris, France, when more than 129 people were killed in seven coordinated terrorist attacks.

The greatest number of deaths took place at the Bataclan, a French music venue where EAGLES OF DEATH METAL were performing when terrorists began a siege that ended with 89 people in the club either shot to death or killed in explosions.

A number of artists halted their European treks in the wake of the Paris attacks, including LAMB OF GOD, FOO FIGHTERS, DEFTONES and others.

Speaking to Kaaos TV, Bello was asked if ANTHRAX and European tourmates SLAYER had considered canceling any of their shows because of the recent concert tragedy. He said: "Right after that happened in Paris, the next show, I think we played in Brussels, I think it was, they had a lot of security, with big guns — cops with big guns — bomb-sniffing dogs, and, for the first time — I never saw this before — they had an exit… They came on stage with us for soundcheck and had an exit strategy for the band in case there was an incident. And we had never had this before. So that was a little weird."

He continued: "The thing is, with us — and I'm not speaking for any other band — as long as we didn't hear from the promoter that we had to cancel the tour, it was never an option; us and SLAYER, we were always gonna keep the tour going and play in spite of what's going on, because I don't wanna give in to that. I don't wanna make people make me afraid to play and entertain people and make people get away from their problems for a little while. I think it's really important that people get out and go see bands and not be intimidated and just live their life."

The attacks in Paris led to a military response by France against the radical Islamic organization ISIS, as French jets bombed a series of targets in Syria.

The murders have stepped up worldwide concern over ISIS, as well as a debate in the U.S. over whether to accept Syrian refugees.

Children Of Bodom frontman Alexi Laiho and keyboardist Janne Wirman recently spoke with Metal Hammer, looking back on the band's 2003 album Hate Crew Deathroll. An excerpt from the interview is available below.

Alexi: “It was definitely the first album where we established our own style. We had found our own thing, what we are all about. But there were other factors involved too. It was promoted differently, promoted more in certain countries, so that affects a lot too.”

Janne: “And for us, being a small punk band from Finland, that was the first album we got to tour North America with, so that’s huge. I would think that even affects you if you’re a fan in Europe. ‘Oh, they’re touring the US now?’ It becomes a huge thing. I think we really found our style on that album. Then things started happening. That was still at the time when albums were selling, and record companies were really pushing things. It just happened at the right time, that we found our style.”

Italian heavy rockers LACUNA COIL have entered BRX Studio in Milan to record their new album, "Delirium", for a tentative May 2016 release via Century Media. The CD is being produced by LACUNA COIL bassist and main songwriter Marco "Maki" Coti-Zelati, with engineering by Marco Barusso and additional assistance from Dario Valentini.

"Delirium" is LACUNA COIL's first album to featuring American drummer Ryan Blake Folden, who has been touring with the band since 2012.

"We entered the studio about a week ago, so we're at the very beginning," LACUNA COIL singer Cristina Scabbia told "Loudwire Nights" host Toni Gonzalez. "We're absolutely excited and I think everything will be completed before the end of February, I think. And the album should be out at the end of May. It's called 'Delirium' and there's tons of reasons for it."

She continued: "It's been a crazy couple of years for different reasons, for personal reasons and for a lot of things that we will disclose, or we will tell later."

Scabbia added: "It's heavier than the previous albums we did, which is kind of surprising, because a lot of bands are going the other way around and getting softer and more accessible."

Cristina previously said about the group's upcoming follow-up to last year's "Broken Crown Halo" album: "It's gonna be different. I mean, we have a slightly different lineup [following the recent departures of guitarist Cristiano 'Pizza' Migliore and drummer Cristiano 'CriZ' Mozzati], because we have a new drummer [Ryan Blake Folden] and we're gonna be working with one guitar only, so everything will be more straight to the point. We're gonna be using a lot more electronic arrangements — very weird… It's gonna be very mystique, dark… We're still deciding a lot of details, so it's hard to tell you exactly how it's gonna sound like, but so far, from the demos, it sounds like definitely a different phase of LACUNA COIL."

On the topic of the response from LACUNA COIL fans to the band's musical evolution over the years, co-vocalist Andrea Ferro said: "It's always different with us, because we kind of change a little bit every time, so we always get maybe some people disappointed in the first time, and then they listen to it and they like it. And some other [people], they love it right away. The people that are more open-minded, they're gonna like it, and the people that it takes a little bit more to get used to the new stuff, they don't like it in the beginning, but then they come [around]. That's the characteristic of our band; it's always been like that."

"Broken Crown Halo" sold around 13,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 27 on The Billboard 200 chart. The CD arrived in stores on April 1, 2014 via Century Media.

"Broken Crown Halo" was recorded Italy by producer Jay Baumgardner (P.O.D., SEVENDUST, EVANESCENCE, PAPA ROACH) and engineer Kyle Hoffmann (P.O.D., BUSH, ZEBRAHEAD).

MetalMasterKingdom.com conducted an interview with former MEGADETH and current ACT OF DEFIANCE guitarist Chris Broderick on November 9 at Virgin Mobile Mod Club in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. You can now watch the chat below. A couple of excerpts follow (transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET).

On whether he still has plans to release a solo album and what it will sound like:

"Oh, yeah. [I]will definitely will. Absolutely. I've got one song that's like a total mixture of metal and flamenco. And then I've got another song that has classical guitar elements on it. And then another one that's a little bit more experimental, a little but more maybe on the slightly jazz-fuzion side of things. So it's pretty interesting stuff."

On whether his solo album will be all instrumental or it will contains songs with vocals:

"I've considered both. And where I'm looking at right now is… what it's looking like is about fifty percent of the songs that I do are gonna be instrumental, and the other fifty percent, it's gonna be sung. So far, I'm demoing the vocals on it, so it may be me doing it. I don't know. I still haven't decided about that."

On whether he will ever release a guitar instructional DVD:

"Yeah, I am. I've talked to numerous different companies about doing it, and just haven't really sat down and laid out a lesson plan — something that I'd really like to teach."

On ACT OF DEFIANCE's plans to release a follow-up album to this year's "Birth And The Burial":

"You know, it's funny how quickly people start asking about [a follow-up album]. It's insane. And we definitely have material that… Like, anytime I come up with something I think is really cool, the first thing I do is I pull out my phone and I video it and I archive it; I throw it into my 'riffs folder,' is what I call it. And then Shawn [Drover, ACT OF DEFIANCE drummer]… I know Shawn said he's got one song written already. But we haven't started really formalizing the writing process yet. We feel like 'Birth And The Burial' still has some time to offer. 'Cause it came out a little over… you know, about two months ago now. So I think we've still got some legs on this one first."

ACT OF DEFIANCE is the band featuring former MEGADETH members Shawn Drover (drums) and Chris Broderick (guitar), alongside ex-SCAR THE MARTYR singer Henry Derek Bonner, and SHADOWS FALL's Matt Bachand (bass).

ACT OF DEFIANCE's debut album, "Birth And The Burial", was released on August 21 via Metal Blade Records. The CD recording was split between three studios in three different states: Broderick handled vocal and guitar production at his own Ill-Fated Studio in Los Angeles, Chris "Zeuss" Harris (ROB ZOMBIE, REVOCATION, MUNICIPAL WASTE) worked with Drover tracking the drums in Dexter's Lab in Milford, Connecticut, while Bachand laid down his bass at ManShark, in Southampton, Massachusetts.

Dutch death thrash act, Izegrim, will unleash their new album, The Ferryman's End, in spring 2016. Recorded at the prestigious Soundlodge studio in Germany, the ferocious new album offers a bloody follow-up to the Code Of Consequences and Congress Of The Insane full-lengths.

Many bands are said to not be able to top their earlier albums, The Ferryman's End proves that wrong in a very brutal manner, taking the catchy components of what made the band so successfully murderous on record as well as in the live environment, and developing them further into extremely punishing barbarity.

Guitaris Jeroen comments: "Needless to say we are thrilled and honoured to re-ink a new deal with Listenable Records: never change a winning team!  With this new album we aimed for more catchy songs, to-the-­point songwriting, aggression, viciousness and on top of that a better production. Rebirth is the first solo-album ever by the guitarist Raff Sangiorgio. Guitarist of the long-running death metal band Gory Blister, with whom he wrote and published five full-length albums, Raff Sangiorgio debuts with a new one, for the first time as a soloist.

It is a one-man studio project, focusing on instrumental metal-rock songs with blues influences, in which Raff Sangiorgio wrote, produced, arranged and performed every single instrument, with particular focus, on the guitar work. This new album consists of nine original songs and is entitled Rebirth. 

It will be released by the end of the year under Sliptrick Records, the label that has already dealt with the artist, publishing the latest Gory Blister album.

Janne Stark, guitarist from bands such as Overdrive, Grand Design, Constancia and Locomotive Breath, is back with his third tribute to the riffs of the 70s. This time he has again taken on some unsung heroes, but also some unsung songs by well-known heroes. How about The Hunt, Cain, Diamond REO, April Wine, Kansas, Rush, Neil Merryweather, Walter Rossi, Charlee, Captain Beyond, Boomerang, Triumph and Mother’s Finest?

On the new album Janne handles all rhythm guitars and bass, and shares the lead guitar duties with killer guitarists like Kee Marcello, Craig Erickson, Jay Jesse Johnsson, Hank Shermann, Michael Denner, Mike Onesko, David Angstrom and Ken Hammer, just to name a few. The vocal duties are handled by singers such as Carl Dixon, Martin J Andersen, David Angstrom, Pelle Saether, Chris Catena, Thomas Vikström, Roger Solander and iconic rocker Neil Merryweather. The drums are handled by Peter Hermansson and TrumPeter Svensson.

The background for Mountain of Power came about when Grooveyard Records asked Janne to record a cover album. After long discussions the concept was clear. It was to be songs Janne grew up with and that affected him and his guitar playing, plus the song should not be one that had been widely or even ever covered before. Also, just doing a straight cover was not an option. You will find hidden riffs, sneaky flirts and songs that have been merged together. It all done with the greatest love of the original and without losing the 70s feel and analogue touch (only tube amps were used for recording guitars!). This album was mixed, mastered and co-produced by Danish guitarist/singer/producer Martin J Andersen, also known from the following bands: Blindstone and Meridian.

“Martin did an outstanding job mixing and mastering the album to absolute perfection. With this many guests, recording at various studios, he’s done an amazing job making it all blend perfectly together”, says Janne.

Swedish metallers AVATAR have entered the studio with producer Sylvia Massy to begin recording the follow-up to 2014's "Hail The Apocalypse" for a 2016 release via Another Century. The band will split its time between three studios throughout Europe with all of the music being made in the aptly named Castle Studios in Röhrsdorf, Germany. Finnvox Studios in Helsinki, Finland and Spinroad Studios in Lindome, Sweden will also play a part in the process.

"Every band makes a point out of saying they're pushing boundaries, but I see few who keep on challenging themselves the way we do," says AVATAR frontman Johannes Eckerström. "There is no formula, no cheapness, no shortcuts. We are once again embarking on a journey completely new to us."

Massy, who is perhaps best recognized for her work on 1993's "Undertow", the full-length double platinum-selling TOOL debut, and her works with SYSTEM OF A DOWN, says: "AVATAR is an amazing band! The singer has the wild energy and charisma I love, and the players are relentless. The album we’re making is an epic. Each song powerfully stands on its own, but is only a piece of a larger story. This album is the project I've been dreaming about for years!"

AVATAR will hit the road stateside in January with a highlighted performance scheduled aboard the ever popular ShipRocked cruise. The band has also been confirmed to participate in Rock On The Range, Welcome To Rockville, Fort Rock and Carolina Rebellion festivals in 2016.

After making more trips to the U.S. than ever before over the last two years, the band is ready to sink their teeth into a new album, Eckerström continues: "AVATAR is growing higher and deeper and I am proud to say we are outdoing ourselves again. If we didn't make sure to feel like this every time, we wouldn't bother at all. I'm very excited, and you should be too."

The "What Sober Couldn't Say" lyrics speak of someone finally determined to get out of a bad relationship: "The way you want me / Saying nothing / But not this time / I'm gonna say…"

HALESTORM guitarist Joe Hottinger explained the song's meaning to TeamRock: "Sometimes you do have to be drunk to say what you really mean, and this is a heavy story about getting out of a situation that you shouldn't be in."

"What Sober Couldn't Say" is taken from HALESTORM's third studio album, "Into The Wild Life", which was released in April.

HALESTORM frontwoman Lzzy Hale told The Pulse Of Radio that the new disc felt like a natural evolution for the band while they recorded it. "The actual meaning of and the reason that albums are called albums is because it is a snapshot, it is a collection of imagery and sonically, you know, of a place and time in your life," she said. "And everyone keeps coming up to us that has heard the new record and says, 'Oh my gosh, this is such a leap from your last record,' and to us, 'cause we've just been living it, it's like, 'Oh no, it's not!'"

Hale also spoke about choosing a producer, Jay Joyce, who was not especially known for rock records. She explained: "He’s like this cool, chain-smoking, creative ball of energy, and his bread and butter — because of circumstance and the area that he's in Nashville — his bread and butter has been a lot of country artists and a lot of alternative. I believe we were the first hard rock band that he's recorded, and so it was just a really neat perspective to have, having somebody that loves rock and roll that hadn't really had the opportunity to show that."

SAINT ASONIA, the new act featuring ex-THREE DAYS GRACE frontman Adam Gontier and STAIND guitarist Mike Mushok, paid tribute to late STONE TEMPLE PILOTS frontman Scott Weiland by performing a cover version of the STP classic "Big Empty" on December 5 at The Tree Of Joliet in Joliet, Illinois. Weiland was found dead on his tour bus on December 3 at the age of 48. The suspected cause of death is cardiac arrest, although an official report has yet to be released.

A small amount of cocaine was found on the bus and Tommy Black, bassist for Scott's band THE WILDABOUTS, was arrested for possession.

Both of Scott's former bands, STONE TEMPLE PILOTS and VELVET REVOLVER, issued statements on his passing, while musicians and fans around the world have also posted tributes.

SAINT ASONIA was announced earlier this year, with Mushok and Gontier joined in the band by ex-FINGER ELEVEN drummer Rich Beddoe and STUCK MOJO and DARK NEW DAY bassist Corey Lowery.

On December 9th, Extreme guitarist Nuno Bettencourt performed at the Ultimate Jam Night event at Lucky Strike Live in Hollywood, CA.

Bettencourt also paid tribute to late Stone Temple Pilots singer Scott Weiland with his rendition of the STP hit "Creep".Watch the footage below:

Southern California alt rockers Dommin have delivered their cover of Type O Negative's beloved doom 'n' gloom track "Love You To Death". It's deliciously loyal to the blackened original, but adds Dommin's unique sonic flair. Fans can download the song for free at this location.

Dommin released their second album Rise on June 21st via PledgeMusic. It follows their 2010 Roadrunner debut, Love Is Gone. In other news, the band has signed to Eternal Sound in Europe.

Montreal's Slaves On Dope have taken up the challenge of the Eagles Of Death Metal to cover their song "I Love You All The Time", to show their support of live music, freedom, and the victims of the attack in Paris. Hear it now via the SoundCloud audio player below:

Following the terrorist assault on Eagles Of Death Metal's Paris concert last month, the group has called upon artists of all genres to cover its Zipper Down track "I Love You All The Time" with the intention of donating all proceeds to the families of the attack's victims, including the band's merchandise manager Nick Alexander, reports Daniel Kreps of Rolling Stone.

"The senseless and violent terrorist attacks of November 13th, 2015 in Paris have left us all unsettled and we dare not give another second of precious time to those who have tried to steal our freedoms and take away our power," wrote  Eagles Of Death Metal's Josh Homme. "Instead, we are writing to ask for your help to 'Play It Forward'."

"We are calling upon our friends to donate their time, talent and good will in a show of solidarity to help the victims of these atrocious acts in Paris and those affected by terrorism worldwide. We are asking for you to cover our song 'I Love You All the Time.' For every cover sold, we pledge to donate 100 percent of the publishing income to The Sweet Stuff Foundation. We ask that you also donate the money generated from sales of the song to the charity. In the same spirit, we would encourage you to offer one of your songs up to be covered by another artist, and follow suit – donate the publishing monies to charity – the 'Play it Forward Initiative'."
