KAMELOT guitarist Thomas Youngblood recently told PowerOfMetal.dk has finalized contractual plans for a new concert DVD. He said: "Now we have to figure out where we're gonna do it and whether it's gonna be part of a tour or it's gonna be a one-off concert, like we did before. That's all being planned right now, so we're not totally sure yet. But hopefully next year we'll be able to shoot that and [get it out] to the fans."

Regarding what KAMELOT singer Tommy Karevik has added to the band's sound since joining the group in 2012, Youngblood said: "He's an amazing frontman, a killer songwriter, great with lyrics, a team player. And I think he's injected a new spirit into the band, in terms of his energy and youth. I mean, I couldn't have scripted it better, honestly. During [the making of the latest KAMELOT album] 'Haven', he was crucial with his lyrics and his vocal melodies and some of the music."

"Haven" sold around 7,600 copies in the United States in its first week of release.

The CD was made available on May 5 in North America and May 8 in the rest of the world (excluding Asia) via Napalm Records as part of an exclusive licensing deal through the band's Kamelot Music LLC.

Produced by Sascha Paeth and mastered by Jacob Hansen, "Haven" features guest appearances by Alissa White-Gluz (ARCH ENEMY, ex-THE AGONIST), Troy Donockley (NIGHTWISH) and Charlotte Wessels (DELAIN). The g cover and artwork was created by Stefan Heilemann and additional art/layout was done by Gustavo Sazes.

The original lineup of the Norwegian cult black/death metal band OLD FUNERAL reunited for a short set on November 15 at the BlekkMetal event in Bergen, Norway. Joining Olve Eikemo (a.k.a. Abbath; ex-IMMORTAL) on bass/vocals were Tore Bratseth on guitar and Padden on drums.

OLD FUNERAL played the entire "Abduction Of Limbs" demo, which is said to be the first metal release to ever have been recorded at the legendary Grieghallen Studios in Bergen. They closed out their set with a cover version of CELTIC FROST's "Procreation Of The Wicked".

In existence from 1988 until 1992, OLD FUNERAL was one of the earliest bands in the Norwegian extreme metal scene. Influenced by such acts as CARCASS and MORBID ANGEL, the group's lineup also included Kristian Vikernes (a.k.a. Varg Vikernes; BURZUM) on guitar and Harald Nævdal (a.k.a. Demonaz; IMMORTAL) on guitar.

Wolfhorde is a folk metal band from Finland. The music of the band is a chaotic combination of the opposites: distorted and clean, electric and acoustic, heavy and soft, fast and slow, cheerful and melancholic. It gives something for the easy listener, but involves surprisingly complicated twists and turns. Towards The Gates Of North is an album made out of all these elements.

The theme of Towards The Gates Of North is not original. In fact, the viking mythology is commonly used or even overused in the genre. Regardless, this album takes you on this Nordic journey from the beginning of the end to the beginning of a new world – The North beyond the gates, unspoiled by the reach of men. Instead of telling stories of great heroes fighting battles in a fantasy land, the story behind Towards The Gates Of North is a more down to earth and unscrupulous. This musically beautiful concept album inspired by the northern atmosphere and landscapes was forged and carved out of sad and gruesome stories about the end of the world in the viking heritage and mythology.

The album will be released on January 22nd via Inverse Records.

The follow-up to 2013's "All Hell Breaks Loose" was recorded in October 2014 at a studio in Nashville, Tennessee with producer Nick Raskulinecz (RUSH, FOO FIGHTERS, ALICE IN CHAINS, MASTODON).

Commented BLACK STAR RIDERS frontman Ricky Warwick: "'Soldierstown' is a song with a dark and poignant lyric tempered with a huge Celtic guitar riff. Sometimes pulling the covers over your head is not enough..."

BLACK STAR RIDERS will cap a successful 2015 with two headline shows in the U.K. in December 2015. These shows are in addition to their guest slot on the fast selling DEF LEPPARD/WHITESNAKE double bill in the same month.

On the band's forthcoming U.K. tour, Ricky added: "To say we are excited by by being part of the WHITESNAKE/DEF LEPPARD bill is an understatement. It's always great to go on tour with your friends and BLACK STAR RIDERS will also have been on tour in Europe four weeks prior to this... So we will be well oiled and fired up for it!"

BLACK STAR RIDERS guitarist Damon Johnson stated about the making of "The Killer Instinct": "Nick Raskulinecz came riding out of the sunset like a Viking warrior, with his record collection and arsenal of killer guitars and amplifiers and proved to be the world-class producer we had heard so much about. Indeed, the rumors are all true. There's no doubt that Ricky and I had written a sizable number of songs, but Nick patiently walked through the full song list with the entire band and made sure we focused on the material to best represent BLACK STAR RIDERS in 2015." BLACK STAR RIDERS last year parted ways with bassist Marco Mendoza and replaced him with Robbie Crane (RATT, VINCE NEIL, LYNCH MOB).

Finnish metal sextet AMORAL will release its seventh studio album in early 2016. "In Sequence", the follow-up to the critically acclaimed "Fallen Leaves & Dead Sparrows", will be made available in Japan on January 29 via Ward Records, and in the rest of the world on February 5 through Imperial Cassette (Gordeon Music, GSA).

Said AMORAL guitarist and founder Ben Varon: "We went into making the seventh album with an Yngwie Malmsteen state of mind: more is more! Once we got our original singer Niko Kalliojärvi back in the band — expanding the group into a six-headed monster, with two vocalists and three guitar players — it was time to start the writing process, which was one of the most inspiring ones for me so far. More guitar parts, more keyboards, more back and forth between clean and growling vocals."

Another angle used to get a fresh touch for "In Sequence" was the decision to invite a whole bunch of guest musicians — including percussionist Teho Majamäki, INDICA singer Jonsu and ACYL singer/mastermind Amine Benotmane — to play on the album, which was a first for AMORAL.

Stated Ben: "The album is filled with stellar guest performances from many talented musicians, who added percussion, female vocals, analog syths and ouds to the songs, amongst other things. The guests definitely helped take the songs to the next level."

He added: "To me, 'In Sequence' is the logical follow-up to 'Fallen Leaves & Dead Sparrows', on which we took our love for grandieuse prog to new hights. 'In Sequence' continues on that path, though the return of Niko gives the new material some of that old school AMORAL vibe. And I think this one turned out a touch heavier as well, not least because of the real-life based concept of the album."

The first single from "In Sequence", a song called "Rude Awakening", will be released on December 4.

California fivesome, Heartist, will spend the rest of 2015 on the road. The band has booked dates with Islander, with XXI, and with Sycamour. All of Heartist's tour dates are below.

Additionally, the band premiered an acoustic video for "Skeletons”, from Feeding Fiction, out now via Roadrunner Records.

"I can count the number of times we've performed any of our songs acoustic on one hand, so it goes without saying that I was a bit nervous when it came time to track this," singer Bryce Beckley said. "We're used to playing and hearing this song as a full band, and any musician can tell you that after performing a song hundreds of times, it often feels like muscle memory takes over. As a band, we have always pushed ourselves to step out of our comfort zones, and this was a pretty big step for me. It was nice to get away from the usual amount of energy and intensity I would normally sing this song with, feel the emotion behind the song, relax and let instincts take over. We hope you enjoy this acoustic version of ‘Skeletons’ as much as we enjoyed putting it together for you."

Croatian death metal act Infernal Tenebra has announced their fourth album As Nations Fall, due for release on January 22, 2016 via Massacre Records.

It was produced by vocalist/guitarist Darko Etinger, and mixed and mastered by Jens Bogren at Fascination Street Studios in Orebro, Sweden.

 
The artwork, designed by Gustavo Sazes, reflects the album's theme perfectly: society's dysfunctional void of conscience, where human rights are just a phrase, and no one respects life's true values.
 
Darko comments:
 
"We feel that As Nations Fall is the strongest record we've ever done, because it contains some of the best ideas we’ve come up with. There’s a great variety on the album, from extreme to melodic and clean, in a form that is cohesive and fluid. Spanish death metal newcomers Bizarre, have signed to Xtreem Music for the Spring 2016 release of their upcoming debut mini CD, as well as their later albums.

Formed in summer 2015, Bizarre recently issued a demo-track (which can be heard below) of the song "Moldy And Decomposed" that will be included on their five-song debut EP Inner Necropolis, to be recorded in January 2016 at Moontower Studios in Barcelona.

Bizarre's style is totally old school driven death metal that blends brutality and melody in equal parts and firmly rooted in the early '90s Finnish scene with influences from bands like Demigod and Cartilage... but adding some extra touches from bands like Anasarca and Grave.

Winnipeg, Manitoba-based tech death metal architects, Inverted Serenity, have posted a new live video performing their track “Grasp Of Impermanence”, which is off their new album Integral. released on October 9th. The video was filmed during the band's set at The Zoo in Winnipeg on October 30th.

Inverted Serenity recently released a new lyric video, for the track “Wrought (Rot)”, off Integral.

Says the band: “"Wrought” is a full speed track joining the noticeable aspects of tech-death, thrash, and black metal into a catchy and emotional fusion of music. The odd time signatures among certain parts of the song are able to remain at a patterning that does not sway away from an enjoyable flow. The chorus involves a chant back and forth between the screams of Tomas and Marco that is certainly one of our most impressive and brutal chorus structured vocal phrasings. The ending of the song drifts into a guitar interlude written and performed by Marco. The idea in the lyrics of this song is that the process of creation is also a direct means of destruction. Wrought is to self-create, as (rot) is to self-decimate. As we enter life in the physical world, we grow and create with one another and it can be a viciously difficult experience. Through the evolution of seeing the larger cycles and patterns in life, returning to the stillness of the omnipresent universal mind (death) from which we came (birth) is accepted as an inescapable truth."

The band are offering fans a free download of their track, “Elemental Abyss”, from Integral.

The band comments on the track: "Perhaps our most mature and technically structured songwriting on the record can be found in “Elemental Abyss”. This song comes out of the gate with a full speed technical thrash pace that unfolds itself into larger layered riffs all while maintaining a mid-paced headbanging groove underlying the majority of the song. Heavy and polyrhythmic riffs are explored akin to the sounds of bands like Decapitated and Meshuggah. A 7/4 time signature is played while Marcos vocals push the thickness of the song along. Tomas' massive sounding screams lead you into the auditory abyss we specifically placed as the final stretch of the album. The themes explored lyrically are tied into the unknowing of our oceans on Earth, which can be paralleled to the unknown depths of our emotions inside of us. While we are immersed in this material world structured by the elements, through discernment and letting go of the weight of physical reality, we are immersed in the fractal nature of reality and its infinite depth."

"Death In General", the new video from Swedish metallers SOILWORK, can be seen at Toontrack.com. The clip was directed by Hristo Shindov and shot on location in Joshua Tree, California.

Said SOILWORK singer Björn "Speed" Strid: "Recording the video for 'Death In General' was absolutely spectacular.

"After finishing up our North American tour at the Whisky in Hollywood, we got up at 5 a.m. the next morning and drove into the desert.

"Joshua Tree is truly a magical place and was the perfect setting for this song and the mystical feeling it generates.

"BLIND MELON guitarist Christopher Thorn was very kind to let us use his land for the shoot and he also welcomed us into his home.

"Director Hristo Shindov and his assistants did a fantastic job, capturing the vibe of the song with stunning footage. The dancers, Daisy and Flannery, also did an absolute outstanding job, as they danced in the sunset. Truly magical.

SOILWORK's tenth studio album, "The Ride Majestic", was released worldwide on August 28 via Nuclear Blast.

Joining SOILWORK on tour in support of the effort is new bassist Markus Wibom, formerly of Helsingborg hardcore group HEARTS ALIVE. Wibom replaces longtime bandmember Ola Flink, who amicably left the group to focus on other endeavors. Wibom has been a personal friend of the band for many years and has previously toured with SOILWORK as a guitar tech and lighting designer. Wibom made his live debut with SOILWORK in Stockholm on April 30.

Asked how "The Ride Majestic" celebrates 20th anniversary of the band’s existence, Strid told Bloody Disgusting: "It is kinda hard to grasp. I think both 'The Living Infinite' and our new album sums up our career very well, both musically and lyrically. There's a certain existential feel running through those albums and especially 'The Ride Majestic', brings up the darker existential aspects. As pretentious as it may sound, I also feel that we've left certain things behind and have entered a new era, where we let us be driven by spontaneity and emotion."

Regarding whether there are any tracks that stand out to him as being deeply important on a personal level, Strid said: "I think they all gradually become more important with age. However, some of the early more primal teenage angst oriented lyrics are harder to relate to today. One of the best lyrics I've ever written comes from the new album, 'Death In General', that captures the feeling of the very last moments with somebody close, who's on their death bed. Father and son, watching the world go down is from a very realistic dream that I had about the last moments on earth with my dad and the realization of the end."

Berlin based Earth Ship was born in 2010 and present an intriguing mix of heavy metal, fuzzy stoner rock, and some of the finest sludge to date. The band has already released three full length albums and toured all across Europe and The UK.

German guitar hero Axel Rudi Pell will release a new digital single, "The King Of Fools", on December 6. The song is taken from his sixteenth studio album, "Game Of Sins", which will be made available on January 15, 2016 (January 22 in the U.S.) through SPV/Steamhammer.

When Axel Rudi Pell celebrated his first 25 years as a solo artist with a three-hour-plus show in Balingen, Germany on July 11, 2014, he not only awed the 15,000 fans in front of the stage. Nothing new on the Axel Rudi Pell front? Again, the objective observer doesn't know Axel. Anyone assuming that he would invite his numerous festival guests on his next studio album for another anniversary celebration knows nothing about the man. Axel Rudi Pell can do it on his own. And he wants to do it on his own. "I never even thought of having guest musicians on this album," he explains. And why should he? Since Bobby Rondinelli (ex-RAINBOW, BLACK SABBATH, BLUE ÖYSTER CULT) joined the Axel Rudi Pell fold in 2013, the band sounds tighter than ever because "Bobby fits like a glove." Pell points out that Rondinelli is the perfect drummer who always knows exactly what to play; on "Game Of Sins" even more so than on the predecessor album "Into The Storm" (released in 2014, # 5 in Germany). So it comes as no surprise that Axel's 16th studio recording featuring original material is a definite winner. "Everybody involved agrees," he grins. "There's not a single filler on the album." Which apparently was not the case on some of his previous offerings, as he admits with a smirk. "Game Of Sins" is way harder, grittier, the songwriting even more accomplished, experience meeting excellence again.

Especially sound-wise, Axel Rudi Pell appears to have made a quantum leap. "Looking back, I have to admit that the drums on the last album stayed too much in the background," a fact which has changed for the better: they sound much fuller and much more aggressive this time around and have been adapted to suit the new songs. Having said that, this album is a must-have not only for air drummers — riff fetishists and solo aficionados will also love Axel Rudi Pell's new material. And it's no secret that vocalist Johnny Gioeli counts among the best of his profession. All in all, "Game Of Sins" presents a band at the peak of its powers. Although the sleeve and the intro "Lenta Fortuna" (Latin for "bad luck") may suggest that this is a concept album about gambling — it is not. "Game Of Sins" is Axel Rudi Pell at his best: the sirens in the metallic opener "Fire" are a perfect wake-up call, "Sons In The Night" with its "Sons Of Anarchy"-inspired lyrics pays tribute to the NWOBHM. The title track is the longest number on the album, nine minutes of those epic structures and Arabian scales which Pell is so fond of. "Falling Star" once again refers to the early '80s.

Is there an Axel Rudi Pell album without a ballad? They may well be one day, but as long as Axel writes beautiful specimen such as "Lost In Love", there's bound to be one. Among the recording's highlights features "The King Of Fools" with its his five minutes of pure emotion, a perfect symbiosis between steeliness and melody, with an unbelievable performance by Gioeli, but don't forget to listen to Axel's guitars on the verses! "Till The World Says Goodbye" again presents Pell in his element: an epic, almost dark and doomy ballad, a moving soundtrack for the Judgment Day. "Breaking The Rules" is another melodic rock song, before the regular album finishes with a slow number called "Forever Free". But the crowning glory is included in the digipak format: Axel Rudi Pell is the first musician to successfully deliver a real hard-rocking version of the almighty Bob Dylan/Jimi Hendrix classic "All Along The Watchtower"; which has been his heart's desire for a long time, as Axel explains. "That song is far from easy to arrange, but the result is definitely worth the effort." Or, to be more precise: "Everything went according to plan."

MOTÖRHEAD has been forced to cancel tonight's (Friday, November 27) sold-out concert in Berlin, Germany after the band's guitarist, Phil Campbell, "suddenly required hospitalization." The group explained in a statement: "He will be better soon but there is no choice other than to cancel our show in Berlin. We all wish Phil a speedy recovery."

MOTÖRHEAD is scheduled to play Hamburg, Germany' Sporthalle on Saturday (November 28).

The band canceled several shows in the U.S. in September while mainman Lemmy battled health issues.

MOTÖRHEAD's 22nd studio album, "Bad Magic", was released on August 28. The CD was recorded at NRG Studios with longtime producer Cameron Webb.

Campbell recently told VH1 about the recording process for "Bad Magic": "Instead of going to rehearsals and putting it down on CD and then leaving it for six weeks, we went into the recording studio and as soon as we came up with something good, it was down there. And if one of us wanted to do something, we could just build on it straight away. It stayed fresh, so the momentum was there. It wasn't, like, 'Aww, there's that fuckin' song from two months ago.' Some of it, we took stuff off, others we added stuff. I really think that's the best way to work, I definitely want to do it again. It was probably cheaper for us as well. I don't know. Maybe not!"

Regarding QUEEN guitarist Brian May's guest appearance on the song "The Devil", Campbell said: "I pestered him for two years. I've been pestering him for many years to play with us. He's always been too busy. He's one of the busiest guys I know, with his animal rights campaigns and everything. He's such a nice guy. So I ground him down and finally said, 'I won't pester you again for at least two years.' So I sent him the track I had in mind, and luckily he thought it was fantastic. So he went to his own studio and did a couple of bits. I jumped for joy when it was all signed, sealed and delivered. The guy's amazing, a real sweetheart. I'm really pleased with that."

Budapest, Hungary-based power metallers, Wisdom, have announced the release of a new album on February 26th via NoiseArt Records.

Finland-based death metallers, Omnium Gatherum, will release their new album, Grey Heavens, on February 19th (Finland), February 26th (rest of Europe) via Lifeforce Records. The album will be available in North America via Century Media Records, in Japan via Avalon Marquee (February 17th), and in South Korea through Dope Records/Entertainment.

Two of Denmarks very best rock guitarists, Soren Andersen and Mika Vandborg, better known as Electric Guitars, are back with their second album String Fever and a new video.

It's hard to tell if it's the fever that sets Electric Guitars on fire, or if it's the fire that gives Electric Guitars the fever. But one thing is certain, the two rock guitar slingers Soren Andersen (Glenn Hughes, Mike Tramp, D-A-D) and Mika Vandborg has teamed up again with Peter Kjøbsted on bass and Morten Hellborn on drums, and are ready to spread the string fever.

German power metallers, Brainstorm, have released a music video for ‘The World To See”, a track from their upcoming new album, Scary Creatures, due for release on January 15th.

The band continues where they left off one and a half years ago with the previous release, and also mix and mastering was once again handled by Achim Koehler. But right away you feel that Scary Creatures is just that notch better than Firesoul; more anthemic, heavy and all musicians plus vocalist Andy B. Franck delivering to the max. Finland-based "braindead thrash metallers”, Lost Society, announce the publication of their third record, Braindead. The album is set to be released on February 12th via Nuclear Blast.

Guitarist/vocalist Samy Elbanna states: "A lot has happened since the release of our second album; we've played loads of sick shows and we've definitely matured as songwriters and as musicians. We're beyond stoked to announce our new album Braindead! In a brand new interview with SPIN, DEF LEPPARD singer Joe Elliott about the band's influence on contemporary pop music. He said: "I notice when it's pointed out to me, because I honestly don't listen to much pop radio. But when I am made aware of it, or just happen to be listening to whatever radio station my friend is tuned to in their car, it's, like, 'Whoa, that sounds a bit like we could've done it.' I started becoming aware of our influence in pop music about 15 years ago when Pink did a radio show with us, and she was standing on the side of the stage singing every word. I was like, well okay, she's a fan. [Laughs] We have people like Jewel or John Mayer or the guys in MAROON 5, all of whom are huge fans. It wasn't just RATT and POISON we were a part of…. [now] all of a sudden you've got Lady Gaga coming out and saying, 'I fucking love DEF LEPPARD,' and we had Taylor Swift wanting to work with us six or seven years ago when she was first kicking off."

He continued: "You are aware of it, and it's flattering, but I think it's down to the fact that we've always been more pop than metal, much to the annoyance of the metal press and metal fans. We were never DIO or ANTHRAX or JUDAS PRIEST… We've always been about [blending] that kind of quirkiness that QUEEN had with the power of AC/DC. It's something we've always felt was kind of our blueprint. So I absolutely hear it in pop because that's essentially who we were. DEF LEPPARD became popular not through being a rock band like [LED] ZEPPELIN or [BLACK] SABBATH. We became popular because our singles were on 'American Bandstand' between KOOL & THE GANG and Michael Jackson. We were the white rock band from the U.K. that people were like, 'What? How did they infiltrate the Top Ten?' And it was because we had these infectious melodies. We weren't afraid of singing about relationships or love, which is something that metal would never do. We were never [singing about] dungeons and dragons. We never will be."

DEF LEPPARD released its new, self-titled studio album on October 30. The effort was made available through earMUSIC worldwide (excluding North America, Japan) in the following formats: CD, 2LP gatefold, digital download and on all streaming services.

"Def Leppard" entered The Billboard 200 chart at position No. 10 with first-week sales of just over 30,000 units — nearly all from pure album sales.

Sofa King Cool recently conducted an interview with KAMELOT keyboardist Oliver Palotai. You can now watch the chat below.

Speaking about the November 13 terrorist attacks in Paris and continued terrorist threats against France and Europe, Oliver said: "I heard about bands canceling their [European] tours, and, honestly, I don't respect that, 'cause I just don't see… It's exactly what these guys [the terrorists] want — these brainless idiots; they wanna put fear in our heads, and we just shouldn't go along. They wanna destroy our lifestyle, and I'm not up for it"

He continued: "I think the only good which comes from these really terrible things is maybe a little bit that we are torn out of our well-feeling, comfortable, luxurious society. And I think this is pretty isolated. If you look at the rest of the world, there are so many people for whom living with terrorist attacks is an all-day life since decades. Also in Germany, in the '70s and '80s, we had a terrorist group from the left-wing side. And look at Africa and the Middle East; there are so many people suffering from that. And maybe it's doing something good. Maybe it's doing some awareness for our lifestyle, how precious it is and also how fragile. And we've gotta protect it. And the show must go on."

Palotai did, however, express his desire to shelter and protect his child from the horrors of terrorism. He said: "I mean, there are things like, for example, we have in Germany these traditional Christmas markets. It's beautiful, you know. And my son is two years old, and I would like to bring him out. But this is my kid's life. This is the only thing… I go to the markets, I'm totally… I say, 'I wanna have fun.' But I would like to bring my kid. But in this case, I'm really scared about the little dude. I'm here for his protection, and there I actually have my thoughts."

89 people were killed at the EAGLES OF DEATH METAL show at Paris venue Bataclan, where when gunmen fired inside the venue and took concertgoers hostage. All of the bandmembers were confirmed safe after the attacks, but members of their crew were not so lucky. Merchandising manager Nick Alexander lost his life, as did Bataclan stage and lighting manager Nathalie Jardin.

On November 14, the French Government declared a state of emergency, closing the nation's borders and shutting down Paris' concert halls, movie theatres, museums and public spaces until further notice.

A number of artists halted their European treks in the wake of the Paris attacks, including LAMB OF GOD, FOO FIGHTERS, DEFTONES and others.

KAMELOT's new album, "Haven", sold around 7,600 copies in the United States in its first week of release.

The CD was made available on May 5 in North America and May 8 in the rest of the world (excluding Asia) via Napalm Records as part of an exclusive licensing deal through the band's Kamelot Music LLC.

ANTHRAX guitarist Scott Ian has commented on the events of November 13 in Paris, France, when more than 129 people were killed in seven coordinated terrorist attacks.

The greatest number of deaths took place at the Bataclan, a French music venue where EAGLES OF DEATH METAL were performing when terrorists began a siege that ended with 89 people in the club either shot to death or killed in explosions.

During a November 19 chat with Stay Tuned Interviews in Luxembourg, Ian was asked if the events that took place six days earlier have made him rethink his own safety while touring around the world. He responded (see video below): "Yeah. I mean, we're thinking about it, of course. We're all human beings on this tour [which also features SLAYER and KVELERTAK]. Meaning, we're all empathetic and compassionate people who feel horrible about what happened in Paris. And it does make it a bit difficult to go back to your work, which, for us, happens to be this — playing shows. It made it very strange the next day, playing a show, that's for sure. But, yeah, it's strange."

He continued: "I think my personal immediate reaction was I wanted to go home. I wanted to go home and be with my family, not be on tour anymore right now. But at the same time, no one on this tour is gonna let what happened stop what we're doing. Until somebody tells us, 'You can't play shows,' we're going to play shows.

"I understand a lot of bands canceled their shows in Paris. Of course, it makes sense. But we played Paris three weeks before the murders at the Bataclan.

"Nothing's gonna stop us from doing what we do. Nothing's gonna take away our freedom, and hopefully nothing will take away the audience's freedom that is still coming out to shows — not just our tour, but any tour that's out there, or any public gathering, whether it's a football match, or whatever it is. That's what terrorism does — it creates fear and it stops people from living their lives. And as hard as it is to sometimes ignore that and go on with your life, it's really what you have to do. Unless you're just gonna live in fear and never leave your house, and I don't know how anybody can live their life like that. So, yeah, it's definitely difficult."

Ian added: "Over the last few shows, there's been security meetings with the bands, showing us where our exit route would be from the stage, in case something happens. We've been on tour since 1984, and this is the first time in my life I've ever had police telling us, 'This is your best way out of the building.' It's fucking scary shit, that it's come that close now to our world. I never thought that the little bubble that we live in in heavy metal, why would anyone ever target that? And it's not like they were targeting heavy metal — they were targeting a venue that was filled with people. It just so happened that a rock band was playing there. But still, it's very, very close to home, and it's fucking scary."

Ian also talked about the inspiration for the new ANTHRAX song "Evil Twin" and how it relates to the terror attacks in France. He said: "What happened in Paris [on November 13], it's not the first time this shit has happened. This shit's been going on a long, long time — you know, terrorism. So it's something that, obviously, I've been thinking about quite a bit in my lifetime. I've touched on it before in other songs. And I specifically wrote the lyrics to this song not long after the Charlie Hebdo shootings in Paris. It was just something that… The anger that I had inside me needed to come out, and it came out cathartically through writing song lyrics. That's how pretty much any song I ever write is some type of catharsis for me. So it wasn't a specific incident; it's just terrorism. That's what that song is about."

He continued: "It's horrible that it happened again, and, sadly, it's going to happen again… and again and again and again and again… Because there is no solution for this type of war. Because if there was, there already would have been a solution years ago, and the world would be over. But people on this planet, I truly believe, especially the people in charge, they don't want peace, because there's no money in peace, really, when it comes down to it. There's a lot of money in weapons manufacturing and the business of war. And I don't truly believe there ever will be peace on this planet — because of that."

A new Ectovoid song, "Possessed By Ancient Dread”, from upcoming Unspeakable Axe Records split 4 Doors To Death is now streaming below. The label has also revealed the Ectovoid version of the cover art.

Split releases have been part of the DNA of death metal almost from the beginning, but split full-length albums are a rare breed, and have been fewer and farther between after the initial heyday of the genre. In a conscious throwback to that era, Unspeakable Axe Records announce the January 22nd release of 4 Doors To Death, featuring young and hungry bands Cemetery Filth (Tennessee/Georgia), Ectovoid (Alabama), Sabbatory (Winnipeg, Canada) and Trenchrot (Philadelphia). The fearsome foursome have combined forces to produce 10 tracks of ugly and vicious death metal, the way it was originally meant to be played. The CD will feature separate booklets for each band, complete with band pics, lyrics, and distinctive cover artworks.
