MARTY FRIEDMAN: Video Footage Of Final Show Of U.S. TourVictor A. Nieto of DSD Video Production has uploaded video footage of former MEGADETH guitarist Marty Friedman's October 3 performance at Ramona Mainstage in Ramona, California. Check out the clips below.
Friedman recently embarked on his first tour of North America since 2003 — a 21-date headlining run that kicked off September 9. The trek marked the latest leg of Friedman's ongoing world tour in support of "Inferno", his solo album that so far has seen him complete a record-breaking tour across South America; perform extensively in Europe with acts such as Gus G. (FIREWIND, OZZY OSBOURNE), ARCH ENEMY and KREATOR; and play multiple high-profile gigs in his current home country of Japan, including a set at the country's largest heavy metal festival, Loud Park.
Friedman commented on his return to his home continent: "On the rare occasion that I stop and think I about it, I realize I've done an insane thing: I left a successful international band to concentrate my efforts on the domestic music scene of a country thousands of miles from my home. Different culture, different language, different planet. Since I went to Japan, so many Americans have supported me, and while many doubted I would ever play live in my homeland again, now it's happening. Choosing the setlist and doing prep for this tour has been a blast. Words can not describe how excited I am about finally touring North America!"
The North American leg of the "Inferno" tour started in Friedman's former hometown of Baltimore and wrapped up on the West Coast on October 3. 6

AEROSMITH's STEVEN TYLER Wants DONALD TRUMP And Other Politicians To Respect And Protect CopyrightAEROSMITH frontman Steven Tyler says that his effort to stop GOP presidential hopeful Donald Trump from using AEROSMITH's 1973 breakthrough hit, "Dream On", at his campaign events was part of a broader campaign to help strengthen copyright protection for songwriters and up-and-coming artists. "My intent was not to make a political statement, but to make one about the rights of my fellow music creators," Tyler says in a new guest column for The Huffington Post.
Earlier this week, Tyler's attorneys sent a cease-and-desist letter to the campaign, claiming that Trump does "not have our client's permission to use 'Dream On' or any of Tyler's other songs" and that it "gives the false impression that he is connected with or endorses Mr. Trump's presidential bid… We are unaware of any public performance license granting Trump For President the right to perform 'Dream On' in connection with the campaign. If Trump For President has any such license, please forward it to our attention immediately."
In his Huffington Post column, Tyler argues that massive changes in technology and and with the way fans pay for music and consume music "can be a good thing for songwriters and up-and-coming artists, if we are paid fairly by those who make money using our work." He adds: "Everyone deserves to be able to pay their bills, support their families, and do the work they love. Too many can't because we are being shortchanged by new and old technology companies."
Tyler goes on to say that he thinks some of the new technologies are "really cool," especially as they enable the fans to "listen to music wherever [they] are, make up [their] own playlists, and hear what [they] want when [they] want." But he insists that "the laws need to change" that control how songwriters and artists get paid for their music. He says: "Seventy-five percent of songwriters' income in the U.S. is regulated by the government? Too much government intervention in art and music is a bad thing… Songwriters, producers and artists can't survive on what they are being paid."
Steven Tyler is a registered Republican and attended the first GOP debate back in August.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Tyler and Trump are friendly: "Tyler was once a judge at Trump's Miss USA pageant and they reportedly once traveled to Russia together." Trump tweeted about attending an AEROSMITH concert and raved about the show.
Both Neil Young and R.E.M. have publicly slammed Trump during the campaign for using their music at their events.

WARREL DANE Talks Next SANCTUARY Album, Performing NEVERMORE's 'Dead Heart' And Second Solo LPJosh Rundquist (a.k.a. That Drummer Guy) conducted an interview with SANCTUARY and NEVERMORE singer Warrel Dane on October 10 at The Triple Rock in Minneapolis, Minnesota a during SANCTUARY's current North American tour. You can now listen to the chat in the YouTube clip below. A couple of excerpts follow (transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET).
On the progress of the songwriting sessions for SANCTUARY's follow-up to 2014's "The Year The Sun Died" album:
"Lenny's [Rutledge, guitar] gotta get off his butt and write some tunes for me, so I've got something to do in my bedroom when I'm alone with my computer and a microphone. He's got a bunch of riffs and some rough songs written. They're really, really good. It's the beginning stages of that.
"There was one song that got left off 'The Year The Sun Died'. I don't remember why we didn't record it, but it just didn't get finished. It's kind of… It's really fast and really brutal. I'm pretty sure it's gonna make it on the next one. He's got a lot of really good shit written. So it's just a matter of putting it all together and having me work out all the vocal melodies and the lyrics and everything. It takes a little bit of time."
On taking his 15th-anniversary tour of NEVERMORE's "Dead Heart In A Dead World" album to Europe after performing the LP in its entirety in Brazil earlier this year:
"I did that in Brazil with the band I have down there. And some European promoter guy saw some of the YouTube videos and found out I was doing that and wanted to bring it over there. [So I was like], 'Okay. Fine with me.' People went fucking apeshit in Brazil when I did that. It was crazy! Sometimes they were singing the words so loud that I could not even hear myself on stage. Brazilian fans are very into it — to the tenth power. They're crazy.
"[The musicians in my Brazilian band] are all very good, and they can play the shit perfect. It's gonna be fun.
"When NEVERMORE was all still playing together, we always talked about doing the whole 'Dead Heart' record at some point. The first time I went to Brazil and did a solo tour, I was playing mainly solo songs from my solo record and a couple of NEVERMORE songs and a couple of SANCTUARY songs, and people were always, like, 'are you ever gonna do 'Dead Heart In a Dead World', the whole thing? You've gotta do it. Please! People wanna hear it. I've heard that so many times down there. And I think it's the right time to do it, because it is fifteen years old. I can't believe that record is freakin' fifteen years old. It seems like yesterday to me. Time flies when you're getting old. [Laughs]"
On whether there is chance he will release a follow-up to his 2008 solo album "Praises To The War Machine":
"Yeah, I'm actually working on it now. I'm in the demo stages, and it's going to be different than the first one. Some of it is just brutally heavy. I mean, 'Praises To The War Machine' was more like a rock/metal record. I always wanted to do that — I always wanted to explore more of the rock realm instead of the progressive… whatever you wanna call what NEVERMORE was… Progressive, thrash, death, metal… I think NEVERMORE was pretty much… you couldn't really define what kind of music it was, and that was the good thing about that. But the new solo record is going to be a lot heavier than the first one. It's conceivable that it would come out in 2016, because I wanna start recording it sometime around March, but we'll see. I've gotta pick a producer. I'm leaning towards Zeuss [Chris Harris], 'cause I worked so good with him [on 'The Year The Sun Died']. There are a couple of other guys that the record company suggested, and I'm just kind of weeding through that."
SANCTUARY's tour kicked off October 9 in Indianapolis and will keep the band on the road through the end of the month, wrapping up with an October 31 gig in SANCTUARY's hometown of Seattle.
SANCTUARY recently parted ways with guitarist Brad Hull and replaced him with Nick Cordle (ex-ARCH ENEMY, ARSIS).
"The Year The Sun Died" was released in October 2014 via Century Media. The CD was recorded in Seattle at Soundhouse Studios with producer Chris "Zeuss" Harris (SOULFLY, SHADOWS FALL, HATEBREED, MUNICIPAL WASTE).

MAX CAVALERA On Possibility Of SEPULTURA Reunion: 'I Don't See It Happening'In a brand new interview with DCHeavyMetal.com, Max Cavalera was once again asked about the possibility of a reunion ofSEPULTURA's classic lineup — featuring Max (guitar, vocals) and brother Igor Cavalera (drums) alongside guitarist Andreas Kisser and bassist Paulo Xisto Pinto Jr.. He said (hear audio below): "[It's] probably not [going to happen], you know. I mean, I don't see it happening and I don't really care much about it. I think the time has gone. When it was exciting to do it was, like, ten years ago. It would have been cool [to do it then], but not now. And we all moved on from everything. You know, I've got a lot of projects. I've got CAVALERA [CONSPIRACY], KILLER BE KILLED… SOULFLY is doing great. So I don't really need it, you know. It's, like, kind of let it become a, kind of, a cult thing as it was."
He continued: "You know, when I was with [SEPULTURA], we did great stuff. The records were amazing and the live shows were killer, and a lot of that is captured on video and people can see it. [I think it's best] not to ruin it, because a lot of those reunions, they're not really good, you know, so it's like, why ruin something that was good? So I think it's kind of better to leave it like that, you know."
In 1996, Max exited SEPULTURA after the rest of the band fired Cavalera's wife Gloria as their manager.
Max's brother Igor left SEPULTURA in June 2006 due to "artistic differences." Igor's departure from the band came five months after he announced that he was taking a break from SEPULTURA's touring activities to spend time with his second wife and their new son (who was born in January 2006).
SOULFLY's tenth studio album, "Archangel", was released on August 14 via Nuclear Blast Entertainment. The CD was produced by Matt Hyde, who has previously worked with SLAYER and CHILDREN OF BODOM. The cover artwork was created by artist Eliran Kantor (TESTAMENT, ICED EARTH, SODOM). 30

WITCHCRAFT To Release 'Nucleus' Album Next YearSwedish classic/doom rock masters WITCHCRAFT will release a new album, "Nucleus", in early 2016 via Nuclear Blast. The follow-up to 2012's "Legend" was produced by vocalist Magnus Pelander, Philip Gabriel Saxin and Anton Sundell, and is described in a press release as a combination of the "rawer side of the older recordings as well as the slightly modern path of the younger past."
WITCHCRAFT recently parted ways with drummer Oscar Johansson and bassist Ola Henriksson and replaced them with Rage Widerberg and Tobias Anger, respectively.
WITCHCRAFT, who formed in 2000 in tribute to band heroes Roky Erickson and Bobby Liebling (PENTAGRAM), create heavy, blues-based rock augmented with touches of psychedelica and late '60s pop flourishes. The quartet's first-class songs reference the darker side of hard rock while remaining surprisingly accessible. Flying largely under the radar of the popular music landscape previously, WITCHCRAFT is a hallowed name in underground circles and has found itself championed by a diverse cross-section of distinguished music adherents including American actor Elijah Wood, who publicly called the band "amazing," and DOWN frontman Philip Anselmo, who in 2009 proudly proclaimed WITCHCRAFT as his "new favorite band." 2

AGAINST THE PLAGUES - New Guitarist RevealedFollowing is a new update from Against The Plagues, issued via Facebook:
"Its official! Jon Corston is the new guitarist of Against The Plagues! Band is rehearsing and preparing for upcoming sold out show with Cannibal Corpse!"
Against The Plagues entered Belle City Studio in Kenosha, Wisconsin on September 21 to begin recording their new album, for a fall/winter 2015 release via Dutch label Non Serviam Records. The CD will once again be produced by Chris Wisco (Broken Hope, Lazarus A.D., Jungle Rot, Origin, Gorgasm).
Says the band: "For the past few years we've been working hard to consolidate our lineup, played as many gigs as we could, we improved our stage production, and finally we found the right label to support our long awaited release. This is going to be our second full length album since Decoding The Mainframe and we are super excited to work with Chris Wisco again as he was involved in all previous Against The Plagues productions.
We decided to record several new songs and also re-record older tracks from our EP Quaternion which was released independently back in 2012. We would love to expose our best songs on this album and since Quaternion was never unleashed through an official label we were under the impression we need to put new-updated versions of them on our upcoming release.
“Back in January we released a two song EP Extermination Event as a promo/appetizer for a full length album. Now, finally, the time has come to unify all the best music Against The Plagues created since the first release and come back stronger than ever with the ultimate album.”

Video: New MEGADETH Lineup Performs In Sydney, AustraliaFan-filmed video footage of MEGADETH's October 18 performance in Sydney, Australia can be seen below. The concert marked MEGADETH's third show with its new lineup, featuring LAMB OF GOD drummer Chris Adler, and Brazilian guitarist Kiko Loureiro, best known for his work with ANGRA.
The band's setlist was as follows:
01. Hangar 1802. Kingmaker 03. Wake Up Dead 04. In My Darkest Hour 05. She-Wolf06. Sweating Bullets 07. Public Enemy No. 1 08. Dawn Patrol 09. Poison Was The Cure 10. Tornado Of Souls 11. Trust 12. A Tout Le Monde 13. Skin O' My Teeth 14. Cold Sweat (THIN LIZZY cover)15. Symphony Of Destruction 16. Peace Sells 17. Fatal Illusion (live premiere)18. Holy Wars... The Punishment Due
In an interview with Music Feeds conducted right before the Perth show on October 16, MEGADETH mainman Dave Mustaine stated about the band's new lineup: "If you were going into a pub and someone said, 'Hey, I'm gonna go see this band that's only played together twice,' you'd say, 'Fuck that!' right? So the excitement on our side is really high because we've got something to prove. But then at the same time we don't have anything to prove. [Laughs]"
He continued: "The irony of us being able to have it both ways, you know, to have that feeling of exuberance and want to go out there and just nail it, but then also knowing that — you know — all those years of hard luck and having a really loving, intimate relationship with your fanbase has made it so that you can do these things."
Mustaine added: "We've got a really loyal fanbase, as I'm sure you know, and they've been with us through thick and thin seeing a lot of bad shit — stuff that happened to me, stuff that happened because of me, you know? And we've survived for some reason. It's like my big sister says, I can fall upwards."
Due to his LAMB OF GOD schedule, Adler was unable to play with MEGADETH in China and Japan earlier in the month and was temporarily replaced by Tony Laureano (ex-DIMMU BORGIR, NILE, ANGELCORPSE), a veteran extreme-metal skinsman who has worked as MEGADETH's drum tech since 2011.
Adler made his live debut with MEGADETH in July at the Festival D'été De Québec (also known as by its acronym FEQ, or Quebec City Summer Festival in English), in Quebec City, Quebec, Canada.
In a recent interview, Adler stated about his status with MEGADETH: "Their drum tech, Tony, is a fantastic drummer. He played in DIMMU [BORGIR] for a while. [He's] a super-talented guy. So I think they are pretty flexible and able to, kind of, work around me a little bit, and Dave's [Mustaine, MEGADETH mainman] willing to. That's what Dave told me from the beginning. I said, 'I'm gonna be busy as shit for the next twelve to eighteen months with LAMB OF GOD, and I will do everything I can to play as many shows with you as I possibly can, but there may be a point where I have to ask you to wait.' And he said, 'I'll wait for you.' So I think he enjoyed working with me, and we'll just kind of see where it goes."
MEGADETH's current touring lineup is rounded out by founding bassist David Ellefson.
MEGADETH's fifteenth studio album, "Dystopia", will be released on January 22, 2016. The follow-up to 2013's "Super Collider" was recorded earlier in the year in Nashville, Tennessee and was mixed by Josh Wilbur, who has previously worked with LAMB OF GOD, ALL THAT REMAINS and GOJIRA.

BLACK SABBATH's TONY IOMMI To Receive 'Gibson Les Paul Award' At Q AWARDSBLACK SABBATH guitarist Tony Iommi will receive the Gibson Les Paul Award at the 2015 Q Awards, set to take place today (Monday, October 19).
Iommi, who hass played a Gibson guitar for the duration of his career, is being honored for his outstanding contribution to music, pop culture and as part of the 100th-anniversary celebrations of the birth of Les Paul guitars.
In a statement, Tony said: "I'm very honored to receive the Les Paul Award. So many thanks to Q magazine and Gibson. I have a long history with the guitar maker."
Q magazine editor Matt Mason added: "Tony is one of those rare guitar players in that he truly defines a genre and a sound.
"His influence is huge but, equally, there is a real finesse in his playing that often gets overlooked. It harks back to his early love of Django Reinhardt — the legendary gypsy-jazz guitarist — who was a formative influence on Tony.
"As with all great musicians, Tony hears the world in a totally unique way, and that is what the Gibson Les Paul celebrates."
Iommi said in a recent interview that BLACK SABBATH's upcoming farewell tour, which will begin in January 2016, is truly its last because he is not physically capable of doing it any longer. Speaking with the Birmingham Mail, Iommi explained, "I can't actually do this anymore. My body won't take it much more."
Iommi, who was diagnosed with lymphoma in 2012 and was treated all through SABBATH's extensive 2013 world tour, admitted that he was worried the rigors of the road could bring the disease back. He revealed: "I don't want that creeping back again, and all the traveling involved in SABBATH tours increasingly takes its toll. That's why we're going out on one last tour, to say our farewells. And then it very definitely is the end. We won't be doing it again."
The legendary guitarist continued: "Don't get me wrong, I still love gigging. It's all the traveling and the exhaustion that goes with it that's the problem. That side of things has a big impact on me… I love being up there onstage, playing with SABBATH. What I don't love is all the other stuff necessary to enable that to happen."
Iommi was also hospitalized recently with back problems, and he still requires blood tests every six weeks to monitor his lymphoma.
The tour kicks off on January 20 in Omaha and will encompass about a year, including breaks.
On the possibility of a new album to follow up 2013's reunion set "13", Iommi said: "I've been busy writing songs ever since the '13' sessions. At that point, we thought there might be another SABBATH album. But that's up in the air now so I don't know when or where they might appear. The tracks are ready, though."

GODSMACK Singer Lands New Movie RoleWhen not recording and touring, GODSMACK singer Sully Erna has been pursuing an acting career over the past few years. He told The Pulse Of Radio just recently that he's going to start shooting his next movie early next year. "There's a company that approached me. They're really, really great filmmakers, and they're gonna be doing this really cool film and shooting it in Bulgaria," he said. "And it's a movie about terrorism and international organized crime and stuff like that. It's based on, you know, Russian KGB and, you know, all that whole kind of vibe. Really really cool — kind of like a darker 'Mission: Impossible'-style movie."
Erna and Marilyn Manson earlier in the year both landed roles in a new movie called "Street Level", with Erna also contributing music to the soundtrack. The film is expected out on Christmas Day and the writer, producer and director is David Labrava, best known for playing Happy on "Sons Of Anarchy".
This appears to be the same project that Erna mentioned in an interview last year, when he said he was shooting a pilot for a new TV series along with Labrava and other "Sons Of Anarchy" cast members. It now seems that the project has been turned into a film, with a trailer also surfacing online.
Erna's other roles include a small part in the Martin Scorsese-produced "Bleed For This" and a lead role in the recent low-budget horror movie "Army Of The Damned".
GODSMACK last week released a new song called "Inside Yourself" as a free download at the band's official web site. 2

SLIPKNOT's SID WILSON Injures FootSLIPKNOT DJ Sid Wilson, who has been jumping from rafters, railings and venue pinnacles since the band's inception, has revealed via Facebook that he has injured his foot and will have to abstain from stunts for a little while.
Wilson famously broke both of his heels at the first show of the 2008 edition of the Rockstar Energy Mayhem Festival in Auburn, Washington and was forced to wear casts on both legs. He apparently jumped off one of the stages in the background of SLIPKNOT's stage set and landed incorrectly. Despite having casts on both legs, Sid vowed to play all shows on the Mayhem tour, even if it meant getting around in a wheelchair.
Asked what his favorite moments were from his many years of plummeting into the crowd, Sid told Loudwire: "Man, I don't know. There's so many. Any venue you go to [where] there's a balcony or some kind of high railing, you can probably pretty much bet that I've jumped off of it."
He continued: "I'll go back to some of these places and see them today and I'm like, 'What the fuck was I thinking?' It's not like I was all hopped up on a bunch of drugs or anything either. This was like coherent Sid Wilson jumping."

SCORPIONS: 'Forever And A Day' Documentary To Receive DVD, Blu-Ray Release In NovemberThe new fully authorized SCORPIONS documentary "Forever And A Day" is wrapping up its theatrical run and will come to DVD, Blu-ray, and digital platforms on November 27 (in German with English subtitles). The movie takes a look at the German hard-rock legends' long career, while focusing on the band's "Final Sting" trek, which initially was intended to be a farewell tour.
As the film shows, during the 2011-2012 tour, the band members were so energized by the response from fans that they decided to scrap their retirement plans. Founding SCORPIONS guitarist Rudolf Schenker says that if you watch "Forever And A Day", you can see the veteran rockers come to the realization that they weren't ready to call it quits.
Schenker explains, "Seeing all these old fans, the new fans coming, everything was sold out, and getting told by the fans what the music means for them, then we more and more" understood that the time wasn't right for the band to retire.
Among the interesting career highlights covered in the movie is the SCORPIONS' historic 1991 visit to the Kremlin in Moscow to meet Mikhail Gorbachev. The band presented the then-Soviet president with a gold record for its hit ballad "Wind Of Change", which celebrated the end of the Cold War.
Describing "Wind Of Change" as "the soundtrack of the most peaceful revolution on Earth," Schenker says the SCORPIONS' visit with Gorbachev was "something very special" since they were the first, and possibly the only, Western band ever invited to the Kremlin. He adds that the SCORPIONS are still friendly with Gorbachev, who makes an appearance in "Forever And A Day", commenting about the group and the impact of "Wind Of Change".
SCORPIONS recently wrapped up the 2015 U.S. leg of their 50th-anniversary tour, which also is in support of their latest studio album, "Return To Forever". With regard to the band's future, longtime SCORPIONS guitarist Matthias Jabs says, "It doesn't look like the end is near. You know, we keep ourselves open now. We tried the farewell tour, and we [called] it afterwards the 'went well' tour."
SCORPIONS will finish the year with a series of European dates in November and December, with more to come in February and March of 2016, including a run of shows in their homeland. Jabs says the band also plans to play more U.S. shows in May, and may visit South America and China as well. 3

TONY IOMMI Doesn't Think BILL WARD Will Return To BLACK SABBATH For Final TourBLACK SABBATH guitarist Tony Iommi was interviewed by Gigwise earlier today on the red carpet at the Q Awards, which are taking place tonight in London, England. You can watch the chat below.
Asked what it was like seeing estranged SABBATH drummer Bill Ward at this year's Ivor Novello Awards, Iommi replied: "It was good. It was really great to see Bill. I mean, Bill and I stayed in contact. Not as much as we used to, but we do stay in contact. But it was really nice to see him, and it was just a nice warm feeling to be with Bill again."
When quizzed on the chances of SABBATH settling its differences with Ward to perfom together on their "final tour" next year, Iommi replied: "No, to be honest. I don't know if that's gonna happen. But who knows? You never know."
As for the possibility of SABBATH recording one final album before they call it a day, Iommi said that "it could happen." He added: "We've got some tracks that we recorded before with [producer] Rick Rubin in L.A.," he replied. "When we did our last album [2013's '13'], we'd done 16 tracks, but we only put eight on the album, so there are tracks there that could possibly show their face at some point."
Ward once again insisted in a recent interview that he is quite capable of playing a full concert with the group, despite the bandmembers themselves saying the opposite. Ward stepped away from the SABBATH reunion in early 2012, while the group hinted that he was not in good enough physical shape to either record or tour.
Speaking with Rei Nishimoto of Ghost Cult magazine, Ward said: "I was never in a position where I was never able to drum. It's really sad that those statements made about me that inferred that I wasn't able to drum.
"When I'm in the studio, I can play in the studio. I was laying down tracks. We settled in 2011. By August 2011, I was already training and getting trained. You have to ramp up to go out on tour so that takes a different attitude. I started getting into shape for a tour. Touring is completely different to me than being in the studio. So I was already doing that work."
He reiterated: "Never at any time was my drumming impaired, my health impaired or my ability to play drums. I'm so angry about those suggestions and that was going on."
BLACK SABBATH singer Ozzy Osbourne told The Pulse Of Radio during the band's last tour that Ward was not in shape to participate. "Bill Ward has got the most physically demanding job of the lot of us, 'cause he's the timekeeper," he said. "I don't think personally he had the chops to pull it off, you know. The saddest thing is that he needed to own up to that, and we could have worked around it, whether we had a drummer on the side with him or something."
Ward was reportedly insulted when SABBATH offered him a contract stipulating that he would only play a portion of the show each night, with another drummer along to take over.
Brad Wilk played drums on SABBATH's latest album, "13", while Tommy Clufetos was behind the kit for the group's world tour. 9

ANTHRAX: 30th-Anniversary Edition Of 'Spreading The Disease' DetailedOn November 20, three decades after its October 30, 1985 debut, Universal will release a special 30th anniversary edition of ANTHRAX's classic "Spreading The Disease", the band's second studio album and the one that served as the then-budding thrash band's breakthrough, and still considered one of the best thrash-metal records ever recorded.
"We wanted to do something special for our fans to celebrate the anniversary of 'Spreading The Disease'," said ANTHRAX's Charlie Benante. "We took the idea to Universal a couple of years ago and have been very hands-on with them, creating this special, deluxe edition that we think our fans will really like." From the beginning, Benante has kept one of everything the band did — artwork, t-shirts, posters, and when the band was recording, he had the engineer run off a few tapes of the project's basic tracks, alternate takes and alternate mixes, just to stockpile until the time came that they would be needed. Consequently, in addition to the original album's nine tracks, the two-disc anniversary edition features previously unreleased bonus material including Joey Belladonna's 1984 demo recording of the song "Medusa", nine "rhythm tracks" from ANTHRAX recordings also done in 1984 — no vocals, no overdubs or "sweetening," just drums, some guitar, a bit of bass, showing the songs in their naked, most basic form — and eight live songs from ANTHRAX's 1987, first-ever concert in Japan, held at Tokyo's Sun Plaza. "'Spreading The Disease' was our first real record on a major label," said Benante. "We were on a roll with that album, and we wanted to perform those songs as close to the album versions as possible. I think the performances show the excitement of a young band that was on its way, so we wanted to have them on this reissue."
Produced by ANTHRAX with Carl Canedy, the 44-minute "Spreading The Disease" marked the first ANTHRAX album to feature singer Belladonna and bassist Frank Bello (joining drummer Benante and guitarists Dan Spitz and Scott Ian), and set into motion the core elements that would become the essence of ANTHRAX. In addition, the album also introduced the ANTHRAX writing partnership of Benante and Ian (that eventually evolved into Benante, Ian and Bello).
For Bello, "Spreading The Disease" was his full-on album recording baptism. Only 18 at the time, he hadn't yet fully realized his own style of playing, but over the course of the sessions, he developed it. "You can hear all of my influences on every song, Steve Harris, Geddy Lee, Geezer Butler, all of them." Bello remembers that "Spreading The Disease" didn't quite come of age until later on, but it was definitely "simmering." "What we were doing was so fresh, so different - we had heavy songs with these great, melodic vocals — and eventually, people caught on and loved what we were doing. I think every song on 'Spreading The Disease' still stands up today."
"Spreading The Disease" represented a turning point in rock. It came during a time when the landscape was transitioning from the "hair band scene" to a new composite of metal, punk and hardcore — thrash metal. The album was compelling and utterly fresh to the 1985 music fan with its speedy rhythms, savage riffs, blistering solos, punishing drum work and a killer melodic performance by Belladonna. Unlike the thrash bands sprouting up on the west coast that focused on speed, ANTHRAX's focus was on catchiness, hooks, and a hot and sweaty, New York mosh sensibility. And it wasn't just the music that was morphing, it was a whole new culture that was being birthed. And ANTHRAX, along with METALLICA, SLAYER and MEGADETH, was right at its nucleus.
"Spreading The Disease" contains several ANTHRAX standouts: "A.I.R.", with its great riffs and abundance of melody, "Madhouse", a testament to the band's top-notch song-writing skills that showcased their grasp of melody, and "Armed And Dangerous", a soulful ballad with its singalong chorus and spine-tingling performance by Belladonna. "Aftershock" is probably the album's punkiest song with its blistering guitar solo, and the closer, "Gung-Ho", with its out-and-out speed-kills blitzkrieg, is a superb piece of thrash metal.
"We didn't know what we were doing, but we totally knew what we were doing," said Ian. "I know that doesn't make sense, but it's where we were at, a bunch of 21 year-old kids making our major label debut on a shoestring budget with nothing but a dream and a bunch of songs that we thought killed. We were right and our dream came true. Thank you to all the fans that put this record and ANTHRAX on the map way back when and still support us today. Cheers my friends!"

Video Premiere: BUTCHER BABIES' 'Igniter'"Igniter", the new video from BUTCHER BABIES, can be seen below. The song is taken from the band's second album, "Take It Like A Man", which was released on August 21 via Century Media. The CD was produced by Logan Mader, who has previously worked with FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH, DEVILDRIVER, CAVALERA CONSPIRACY and GOJIRA.
Comments BUTCHER BABIES co-vocalist Heidi Shepherd: "We've all been in that different state of consciousness where rage over takes over your body and mind. 'Igniter' is about these emotions and about that last straw that breaks you.
"We were so lucky as to film this video during our live performance at the Download festival, Metal Hammer Boat and the Metal Hammer Golden Gods Awards. As it shows our intense live energy on the stage, it also shows our goofy off-stage personalities."
Adds BUTCHER BABIES co-vocalist Carla Harvey: "'Igniter' is a song about the anger and frustration that we can let consume and even destroy us at times.
"When we first started BUTCHER BABIES, I was in a much darker place and often let that rage overtake me, but after six years of having a healthy outlet for those feelings through our music, I'm a completely different person.
"I love that the video for 'Igniter', shot while we toured the U.K. this summer, shows a juxtaposition of on stage rage and our off-stage fun personalities. It speaks volumes to the release that music provides not only for the listener, but the creators." 4

She came to live with her uncle and his wife in Karlskrona. "After many alerts from the society about bruises, Yara not wearing enough clothes in winter time and beeing left alone in their filthy apartment with her baby cousins and other alarming things… nothing was done. The authorities did nothing. "After several months, an ambulance was sent to the apartment were Yara and her relatives lived, just to find Yara beaten to death. "The story touched many people. Apart from anger and tears, this is our reaction." "Yara's Song" is taken from MUSTASCH's new album, "Testosterone", which was released on September 18 via Gain Music Entertainment. 2

BORNBROKEN Streaming New Track “A Nation Of Ignorance”Montreal's death thrashcore rippers BornBroken have added new vocalist Pepe Poliquin (ex-Endast) to their lineup and have just unleashed a new whopper of a tune featuring Peloquin, entitled “A Nation Of Ignorance”, for metal heads gearing up to vote in Canada's federal election this week.
Guitarist Mike Decker comments: "Doesn't it seem that there are more lies exposed then truths being revealed and are we are letting it happen right before our eyes? Our latest single talks about a nation of ignorance we elected into power, that conceals everything behind a cloak of secrecy, conspiracy and silence. Well it's time we expose the incompetence, stop the confusion before it all turns into chaos. The best way to protest and raise your voice is by voting. Make yourself heard and not be one of the forgotten.
“We also like to add, we like to welcome into the band Pepe Poliquin (ex-Endast) on vocals. Pepe stepped down from playing guitar (for health reasons) and has given everything he's got to be the voice for BornBroken. We also like to thank everyone who hung out along for the ride since our debut album The Healing Powers Of Hate. It's been a long a bumpy road, since our last single "Watch The World Unwind", with lots of curves and dead ends, but we always seem to pull through. In the immortal words of Mike Muir (Suicidal Tendencies) "You Cant Bring Me Down!."
“It’s time to hear the cry once more, and feel the rise again! The battle hasn't just begun and it will never be over, unless we raise our voices together as one. Keep in touch and most of all keep it real."

Abhorrent's wealth of riff-variations and athletic rhythmic assaults surge forward as brief glimpses into parallel dimensions that pass by with a relentless, deathlike certainty. TOOTHGRINDER Reveal New Album Details; Track StreamingIt's a busy time for New Jersey noisemakers Toothgrinder, as they have revealed the tracklisting, album cover, and release date for their Spinefarm Records full-length debut, Nocturnal Masquerade.
"With Nocturnal Masquerade, we wanted to capture a spectrum of sound that could bring you to different places in mood and spirit. This being our first full length there was a sense of timelessness that the band was reaching for. These songs are going to make a long-lasting impact in our lives and we can't wait to share it with our fans," explains guitarist Jason Goss about the record.
Drummer Wills Weller concurs, saying, "Using sonic colors, we were able to create moods and emotions and really dig deeper into every song on this record than ever before. Not only for the listener, but also for ourselves."
The album is out January 29th. The first song from Nocturnal Masquerade, "The House (That Fear Built)”, is streaming below.
"We choose the opening track 'The House (That Fear Built)' as the first peek into the Nocturnal Masquerade for a few reasons. There is a lot of depth, darkness, diversity, and above all, clarity and resolution. The song foreshadows the intensity and melodic tension the rest of the album seems to exude. The track is a personal favorite of mine because it was the first song on the record where I found my groove and rhythmic capabilities which set the tone vocally and lyrically for the songs to come," says frontman Justin Matthews.
Tracklisting:
"The House (That Fear Built)"
"Lace & Anchor"
"Coueur d'Alene"
"I Lie In Rain"
"Blue"
"The Hour Angle"
"Dance Of Damsels"
"Diamonds For Gold"
"Nocturnal Masquerade"
"Dejection/Despondency"
"Schizophrenic Jubilee"
"Waltz Of Madmen"

VOICES OF RUIN Release Sophomore Album; First Single StreamingSouthern CA based blackened melodic death outfit, Voices Of Ruin, will release their second full-length album entitled Born From The Dark on October 17th. The album was produced, engineered, mixed and mastered by up and coming producer Scott Fuller. Artwork was once again handled by the world renowned Par Olofsson, whom the band worked with on their debut release Into Oblivion. Check out the first single from the record, "The Awakening", below.
Comments guitarist Tom Barrett: "Born From The Dark is the perfect blend of melodic metal and death metal that sounds modern and classic at the same time. It's polished but still raw. We're really happy with the way this album came out. Working with Scotty was great. He totally became the "6th member" of the band and really embraced what we were trying to accomplish. He was able to pull the best performances from us and create something special."
Born From The Dark tracklisting:
“The Awakening”
“Scars (Of My Sanity)”
“The Black Horizon”
“A Ghost Inside”
“Death's Design”
“Fallen”
“Exiled Into Darkness”
“Blacked Out”
“The Awakening”:
Soon to be a household name, Voices Of Ruin have come to give melodic death metal the shot in the arm it so desperately needs. Harkening back to the genre's glory days while pushing the envelope one step further, Voices Of Ruin eviserate their audience with brutally catchy guitar riffs, soaring melodies, devastating percussion, and the ferocious blackened death growl of their charismatic frontman. Their music can be described as an epically crafted blend of classic heavy metal and modern death metal, that also pays homage to the traditional Scandinavian melodic death metal sound. Now with the release of Born of the Dark, the band is primed to extend their reach out of the underground!
Voices Of Ruin has been cutting their teeth in the highly competitive Southern California metal scene since 2007. From early on, the band received accolades for their devastating live performances all across the local metal circuit and soon went into the studio to record their first full length album. Into Oblivion was recorded in 2010 by engineer/producer Chris Eck. At the time Eck had been quoted as saying, "Into Oblivion is an insanely good album. It captures the raging intensity of 80s thrash metal and presents it in a melo-death format. Voices Of Ruin are able to accomplish this fusion better than any band that I know of."
In the wake of this explosive release was a string of high profile live shows opening for international acts all over Southern California. Soon afterward, Voices Of Ruin embarked on tours all over the west coast. Members shifted and Voices Of Ruin found their ultimate lineup with the brothers Dave and Tom Barrett on vocals and lead guitar, Solid Sleeve on rhythm, Wally Myers on bass, and Lonnie Van Horn handling the percussive duties.
After much deliberation, the band settled upon up-and-coming producer Scott Fuller to record the album Born From The Dark in 2015. With his discerning ear and passion for music, Scott quickly became the "6th member" of the band and proceeded to record the ultimate Voices Of Ruin album - Born From The Dark. The beautiful cover art by esteemed artist Par Olofsson is just the icing on the cake. In short, Born From The Dark is a sonically crushing journey through the abyss that will keep listeners headbanging and lost in the melody.

The setlist on the night was as follows:
"King of the Kill"
"Snap"
"Suicide Society"

"No Way Out"
"Set the World on Fire"
"W.T.Y.D."
"Never, Neverland"
"Tricks and Traps"

"Ultraparanoia"
"Brain Dance"
"Phantasmagoria"
"Chicken and Corn"
"Kraf Dinner" / "21" / "Reduced to Ash"
"Alison Hell"
Encore:
"Human Insecticide"
Suicide Society is Annihilator's 15th studio album. A full album stream can be found below.
As usual, guitar wizard Jeff Waters handles all songwriting duties, plays all guitar & bass, engineers, produces, mixes and masters Suicide Society… and Waters is also back commanding lead vocal duties, as he did on the critically acclaimed King Of The Kill (1994), Refresh The Demon (1996), Remains (1997) and other Annihilator albums over the years.
With Suicide Society, Annihilator goes headfirst into some of the most technically perfect, crisp, and crushingly taut, riffage Waters has ever produced. Although Waters’ vocals keep traces of stylings from his King Of The Kill album, they now evoke a surprising blend of legends such as Staley, Osbourne, Hetfield and Mustaine. This, in a twisted way, mirrors Waters’ signature blend of riffing, drums grooves and bass; all drawing from multiple sources and genres.
Waters has built a worldwide reputation as being a premier guitarist and songwriter; the conciseness and arrangement of “Creepin’ Again” is both an air-guitarist’s dream and a sharp reminder of this. The gloriously-brutal thrash of “My Revenge” calls up a vintage of ’85 with the technical chops of 2015. The neo-classic title track defiantly expresses anger at the state of world affairs, while offering up hope in closing. With the multi-layered power of the anthem “Snap”, Waters illustrates the diversity of Annihilator’s sound, without sacrificing one decibel of attack.
“Metal fans will likely sport evil, satisfied grins on their faces, when they hear this record”, chuckles Waters, “but in the words of Joe Perry: “Let the Music Do the Talking”!”
Tracklisting:
"Suicide Society"
"My Revenge"
"Snap"
"Creepin’ Again"
"Narcotic Avenue"
"The One You Serve"
"Break, Enter"
"Death Scent"
"Every Minute”

DEATH HAWKS Premier “Behind Thyme” Music VideoThe psychedelic circus known as Death Hawks - known for their innovative brand of modern rock music that's coated with Aquarian aesthetics - premiere a mind-bending new video for "Behind Thyme". The track hails from the band's forthcoming third album, Sun Future Moon, set for international release on November 13th via Svart Records.
"The new album's sound is even larger, more beautiful and diverse than before," says vocalist and guitarist Teemu Markkula. "As a band, we've strived for a much wider palette in every part of the process, from compositions to instrumentation and themes, and find the results satisfying. The songs deal with, for example, astrological myths of antiquity and the cosmos inside modern man. We consider the album both a logical continuation of the Death Hawks discography and also a step into a new age, in both meanings of the term. But, looking at the album from a simple point of view, we just tried to create a fascinating, melodic, and dignified album.”
Svart Records' Tomi Pulkki sees the band's evolution as positive: "Death Hawks are by definition one of the most creative and forward-thinking rock bands in the country right now, and their attitude is international in a very similar manner to our own thinking. It was a joy to find out the band wants to work with us, and I hope the new album will blow a lot of minds wherever it may spin." "We felt Svart could be a safe home for the band, and that they could help the band conquer the world," says band manager Esa Tontti.
Sun Future Moon tracklisting:
“Hey Ya Sun Ra”
“Ripe Fruits”
“Dream Machine”
“Behind Thyme”
“Seaweed”
“Dream Life, Waking Life”
“Heed The Calling”
“Wing Wah ”
“Future Moon”
“Friend Of Joy”
“Behind Thyme” video:
Death Hawks are currently working on an European tour, but first, they'll join legendary Finnish experimentalists Circle on a Finnish tour during November. "Our live experience will be updated, as well," says Teemu Markkula. "Largely, we'll concentrate on the new album but with a few older cuts here and there. We're traveling with our very own visualist and a sound technician wherever possible to give people the best possible show."

As an album, Black Sun Unbound is dark, wild, and untamed, yet also the most varied and diverse recording in Denouncement Pyre's 12-year history.
A band statement reads: "Black Sun Unbound is the most challenging album we have created so far, and we have certainly ventured further into the inner darkness with the new material, through a long and demanding creative process. The writing and recording of this album involved a lot of experimentation, and we have seen a vast range of ideas included, more so than past releases; it is a different album to the first two. Expect new doors to be unlocked and old gods to be awakened!"
Cover, tracklisting, and official release to be confirmed shortly.
