VERONICA FREEMAN's MICHAEL SWEET-Produced Song 'Again' Available For StreamingFrontiers Music Srl will release "Now Or Never", the debut album from BENEDICTUM singer Veronica Freeman's solo project THE V, on July 3 in Europe and July 10 in North America.
The "Now Or Never" song "Again", which was written by STRYPER's Michael Sweet, who also laid down all the guitar parts on the track, can be streamed below.
THE V marks a major step out of Veronica's comfort zone, since it delves into a definite melodic hard rock vibe.
An impressive array of talent has stepped up to assist THE V in creating her solo project on many levels. The list includes Pete Wells, Aric Avina and Rikard Stjernquist of BENEDICTUM, Michael Sweet (STRYPER), Garry Bordonaro (THE RODS), Jeff Pilson (DOKKEN, FOREIGNER), Mike LePond (SYMPHONY X), Tony Martin (BLACK SABBATH), Leather Leone (CHASTAIN), Jerry Dixon (WARRANT), Jim Durkin (DARK ANGEL), Mick Tucker (TANK), Jordan Ziff (AGE OF EVIL), Derek Kerswill (UNEARTH, KINGDOM OF SORROW), Peter Tentindo (VENUS MARS PROJECT), John Herrera, Ryan Greene, Kenny Lewis, Meliesa McDonell, Michael Harris , Mel Brown and John O'Boyle.
Veronica comments: "I had a lot of input and encouragement from Frontiers to try and stretch myself with different musical styles and approaches. It was great to be able to work with Pete Wells writing some of these songs too. So it was a no-brainer to accept their proposal for a solo album. I am a bit nervous and beyond excited!"
Says Frontiers in a press release: "Be prepared! If you thought Veronica was just a heavy metal amazon, you're going to be proven dead wrong! This is a massive melodic hard rock record with some great lead vocals which show a lot of the original influences that brought THE V to be one of the most well know and recognized voices in the current metal scene!" "Now Or Never" track listing:

AVATARIUM To Release Second Album In OctoberAVATARIUM, the Swedish metal project whose recording lineup includes Leif Edling, founding bassist and main songwriter of Swedish doom metal legends CANDLEMASS, has entered the studio to begin recording its sophomore album for an October release via Nuclear Blast.
To celebrate the as-yet-untitled CD's arrival, AVATARIUM will embark on a European headlining tour with support support from their Islandic labelmates THE VINTAGE CARAVAN. Opening the trek will be SPIDERS. Comments AVATARIUM guitarist Marcus Jidell: "The last six months we have been writing, rehearsing, demoing and now we finally started the recordings for our next album.
"We're all super excited about the new songs and since the album will be released in October, what could be a better way to celebrate then to go on tour right after!
"AVATARIUM loves to play live. We always try to make every evening special and to blend the vibe of the '70s with the heavy sound of today. Also, we are very happy to be touring with two great bands, THE VINTAGE CARAVAN and SPIDERS."
The dates are as follows:
Nov. 18 - DK - Lyngby - TempletNov. 19 - D - Hamburg - KlubsenNov. 20 - D - Essen - TurockNov. 21 - NL - Eindhoven - SpeedfestNov. 22 - UK - London - UnderworldNov. 23 - D - Frankfurt - Das BettNov. 24 – CH - Pratteln - Z-7Nov. 25 - D - Munich - BackstageNov. 26 - D - Leipzig - MoritzbasteiNov. 27 - A - Wien - SzeneNov. 28 - A - Innsbruck - WeekenderNov. 29 - D - Berlin - Bi-Nuu
In a recent interview with Markus' Heavy Music Blog, Jidell stated about AVATARIUM's musical direction: "We all have a few bands in common that we like. But we also want to bring in our personalities into the music. The songs need to be 'us.' But it's also the way Leif writes the songs. He's thinking about my way of playing guitar and also about Jennie-Ann's [Smith] vocals. He is thinking about how I could continue working on the songs and how Jennie-Ann could. Leif is a very clever songwriter. Another thing is the fact that Jennie-Ann puts so much effort and energy into the vocals. She wants those to become her own. She tries to put all the feelings and emotions into the songs."
Asked if he is feeling any pressure trying to follow up AVATARIUM's 2013 self-titled debut, Jidell said: "I don't think like that. Of course there is a certain pressure if you get such a great response, but we try to focus in what we want to do. We try to be as good as we can while staying honest to ourselves and our music. Our aim is to do another great album followed by another great album and to be able to tour in between."
AVATARIUM released a vinyl/digital-only EP, "All I Want", on November 14, 2014 via Nuclear Blast.
Due to his health condition, Edling was unable to perform with AVATARIUM at the band's recent gigs. Filling in for him was Anders Iwers from TIAMAT.
AVATARIUM's self-titled debut album was released in Europe on November 1, 2013 via Nuclear Blast. 8

SLASH: 'You're A Lie' Performance Clip From 'Live At The Roxy 25.9.14' DVDA performance clip of the song "You're A Lie" from SLASH FEATURING MYLES KENNEDY & THE CONSPIRATORS' forthcoming DVD, "Live At The Roxy 25.9.14", can be seen below.
On September 25, 2014, shortly after the release of their "World On Fire" album, SLASH FEATURING MYLES KENNEDY & THE CONSPIRATORS took the stage at the legendary Roxy Theatre on Sunset Strip in West Hollywood. The atmospheric venue, steeped in rock history, gave fans a brilliant opportunity to experience the band up close as they delivered a set packed with more recent solo tracks, including several from the new album, and classics from Slash's earlier career with GUNS N' ROSES and VELVET REVOLVER. The intimate setting inspired the band to deliver a scintillating, dynamic performance, due for release on June 16 on 3LP set, as well as 2CD, DVD and Blu-ray.
"Live At The Roxy 25.9.14" track listing:
01. Ghost 02. Nightrain 03. Back From Cali 04. You Could Be Mine 05. Rocket Queen 06. Bent To Fly 07. Starlight 08. You're A Lie 09. World On Fire 10. Anastasia 11. Sweet Child O' Mine12. Slither13. Paradise City
Additional tracks:
01. Stone Blind02. You're Crazy03. Wicked Stone 04. 30 Years To Life
Speaking about his working relationship with his backing band THE CONSPIRATORS — Myles Kennedy (vocals), Brent Fitz (drums), Todd Kerns (bass) and Frank Sidoris (touring guitarist) — Slash told Australia's Moshcam: "It's just something that clicked right from the very beginning. Initially, Myles and I just had that spark, sort of a creative connection, from the very, very beginning. And that's something that's established; it always happens when we work together. And then, with Brent and Todd, it's the same kind of thing where we just have a really great writing and performing and recording chemistry, where everybody just really digs what we are about individually and collectively, and it just works."
Asked if he thinks more in terms of being a solo artist or as a bandmember, Slash said: "I don't think I ever really thought in terms of solo artists, per se. Ever since I first started playing guitar, I've always been drawn to the band dynamic. But being in a position to steer it where I want it to go, and be more of a captain of the ship was how it first started. And at this point, now that we've been working together for a while, it definitely has turned very much into a band. But all if do is spearhead it."
Slash recently told Classic Rock magazine that he has "already started working" on material for the follow-up to "World On Fire".
"On the road is the platform that I find is the easiest for me to work on new material," he said. "It's easier here than it is for me to do when I'm at home. So I just get going. I take my phone and I record ideas on the phone and then we jam stuff at soundchecks; when we have soundchecks. So we compile a bunch of ideas, and then when the tour is over, we go home and, sort of, hash them out."
"World On Fire" sold around 29,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to land at position No. 10 on The Billboard 200 chart. The CD arrived in stores on September 16, 2014 via Slash's own label Dik Hayd International distributed through Roadrunner Records (Europe, Middle East, Africa and Latin America).
"World On Fire" is the second album to feature Slash's regular backing band, MYLES KENNEDY & THE CONSPIRATORS, and follows up 2012's "Apocalyptic Love", which sold around 38,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to land at position No. 4 on The Billboard 200 chart.
Slash's self-titled debut album scored the highest new entry on The Billboard 200 chart in April 2010, with first-week U.S. sales of around 60,000 copies.
On Slash self-titled solo effort he employed a different vocalist on each track, before settling on ALTER BRIDGE member Kennedy for both touring and eventually recording.

DERKÉTA Featuring NOVEMBERS DOOM, PENANCE, CATTLE DECAPITATION Alumni To Reissue In Death We Meet Via Ibex Moon; Features Updated Mix By GRAVE’s Ola Lindgren + Bonus TracksPittsburgh-based cult doom/death collective Derkéta - featuring alumni from Novembers Doom, Penance, Demonomacy, Cattle Decapitation and more - will reissue their soul-swallowing In Death We Meet full-length via Ibex Moon later this month.
In Death We Meet was initially mixed and mastered by Rickey Budway and released independently in 2012. Remixed by Grave's Ola Lindgren at Studio Soulless, In Death We Meet redux includes bonus track, "Darkness Fades Life," a cover of Sepultura's "Troops Of Doom," (both recorded and mixed by Matt Schor at The War Room) and thrusts forth a sound that sits at the very apex of devouring, coffin-toned grimness.
"This is by far the heaviest sounding recording that Derkéta has ever done," the band asserts. "The sound is massive, the harmonies and drum tones are enhanced... it's absolutely crushing."
In Death We Meet will reemerge on CD via Ibex Moon Records June 16th, with a wax edition featuring four additional live tracks to surface November 6th. Devout followers of Winter, early-era My Dying Bride and Paradise Lost and true old school brutality, pay heed.
In Death We Meet tracklisting:
“Goddess Of Death”
“Obscurities Of Darkness”
“Rest In Peace”
“Until Our Death”
“Shadows Of The Past”
“Last Rites”
“Witchburned”
“In Death We Meet”
“Darkness Fades Life” (Bonus)
“Troops Of Doom” (Sepultura Cover)
Live Tracks (LP Only):
“Shadows Of The Past”
“Obscurities Of Darkness”
“Witchburned”
“Time Of Awakening”
Derkéta - a named derived from Stygian Mythology: the goddess of death of a blood drinking cult - is a doom-influenced four-piece widely acknowledged as the first all-female death metal band. Forged in 1988 by guitarist/vocalist Sharon Bascovsky and drummer Terri Heggen, Derkéta spent the past two decades in varying degrees of activity, having released several demos throughout the years.
In 2009, guitarist Mary Bielich (Behind Enemy Lines, Novembers Doom, Penance etc.) and bassist Robin Mazen (Castrators, Gruesome, ex-Demonomacy etc.) joined the lineup and began working on what would become their debut full-length, In Death We Meet. Following its recording, Heggen fled the band to pursue other interests and was replaced by Mike Laughlin (Creation Is Crucifixion, Cattle Decapitation) making for their most stable and active lineup to date.
Fueled by a desire to stay true to themselves, Derkéta's musical principles are cemented in the spirit of death metal's early years and as such will never fall to the temptation of popular trends.

JOE SATRIANI Says It's 'Impossible' For CHICKENFOOT To Make Another AlbumLegendary guitarist Joe Satriani has confirmed that CHICKENFOOT appears to finally be dead, with all four members of the band focusing on other projects for the foreseeable future.
The group, which also included former VAN HALEN singer Sammy Hagar, ex-VAN HALEN bassist Michael Anthony andRED HOT CHILI PEPPERS drummer Chad Smith, has not made a CD in four years and Hagar told Rolling Stone last year that there were no plans to work on a new one in the near future. He explained, "I love making music. But doing it on CHICKENFOOT's level means spending a half million on a record. We write and record for six months. It's a lot of work, and then to not sell many records, it's disappointing. I don't like being disappointed. I like winning."
During an appearance on this past Monday's (June 8) edition of Eddie Trunk's SiriusXM satellite radio show, "Eddie Trunk Live", Satriani said that no progress has been made with respect to CHICKENFOOT working on new music, and he doesn't see that situation changing anytime soon.
"It seems like [CHICKENFOOT is pretty much done], yeah," he said. "It seems like the last couple of years of trying to get another record together has been impossible — just too impossible. And everybody kind of wants to do it, but schedules conspire against it. And I started to feel, sort of like, 'Well, I'm really missing it. I'm missing being in a band and collaborating like that. And if this isn't gonna happen, then I'd really love to keep doing it, so maybe I should find somebody else to do it with.' Which is, you know… It's a sad thing."
According to Satriani, he has consistently pushed for CHICKENFOOT to remain active, even when the other members of the band seemed to be losing interest in keeping the project alive.
"I think I was the one who was always banging on those doors, saying to those guys, 'You've gotta come out and make another record. Let's do it,'" he explained.
Satriani revealed that conflicting schedules were at least partly to blame for CHICKENFOOT's inability to continue, although politics played a part as well.
"I think it was always hard [for us to come together and record and tour]," he said. "I mean, the first record was really fun, 'cause it was a crazy idea, but all the other people that we work with suddenly realized, 'Wow! If this thing takes off, what are we gonna do?' And I think that, sort of, started to… That was the beginning of the first dark cloud, and so the second record was harder to pull off, and it made the third one almost impossible. But maybe for a good thing. I mean, you never know with these things."
He continued: "When we get together and play, like we did… Chad and Sammy and I were playing together at the Acoustic-4-A-Cure benefit about two and a half weeks ago in San Francisco, and that was so much fun; it was great to play with those guys. I think I have a real connection with them. But, at the same time, Sammy's got THE CIRCLE, and their new record is good. Sammy sounds very comfortable there."
Satrani also denied that there were any personal differences between the members of CHICKENFOOT that are standing in the way of the band regrouping for a new record and tour.
"There's great vibes all the way around; everybody loves doing it," he insisted. "I mean, I can't imagine… I really have no excuse, let's put it that way… Honestly, I can't tell you that there's a really good reason why we're not doing it, and that's my complaint, I suppose. I don't understand why anyone would be afraid to try to make new music. I mean, that's our job; that is our only job — to make new music, go out and play music and rock and roll. So anything else is just stuff we shouldn't even think about."
CHICKENFOOT's most recent touring lineup included legendary drummer/musician Kenny Aronoff, who was filling in for Smith while Chad was on the road with RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS.
"III" sold 42,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to land at position No. 9 on The Billboard 200 chart. The band's self-titled debut opened with 49,000 units back in June 2009 to debut at No. 6.
Hagar's current band, THE CIRCLE, plays songs from all eras of its members' lives, including tracks from VAN HALEN and LED ZEPPELIN. 1

ECTOVOID Streaming New Track; Dark Abstraction Album Teaser PostedUS-based death metallers, Ectovoid, are streaming the first single off their forthcoming, second full-length album Dark Abstraction, due out this summer through Hellthrasher Productions. Listen to the new song, “The Expanse Between Slumber and Death”, below:

Written collectively by the band's original lineup, the album was recorded / mixed between 2014-2015 by Joshua Freemon at Dead Sound Studios and mastered by Damian Herring (Horrendous) at Subterranean Watchtower Studios.
More details, including the actual release date, full tracklisting and second advance track, are to be revealed throughout the month. Watch the album teaser:

SMASHING PUMPKINS Change Band Lineup AgainAccording to The Pulse Of Radio, SMASHING PUMPKINS founder and sole original member Billy Corgan has realigned the band's ever-changing lineup again. After playing a recent string of tour dates with the group, RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE drummer Brad Wilk and KILLERS bassist Mark Stoermer have left the PUMPKINS patch, replaced by Robin Diaz and Katie Cole respectively.
Diaz has recorded with Chris Cornell, Courtney Love, Britney Spears, ONE DIRECTION and others, while Cole is a singer-songwriter from Australia who opened for Corgan last year.
Cole will also be the opening act on the PUMPKINS' upcoming acoustic tour, and will pull double duty on those shows.
The hiring of Cole returns a woman to the bass player position in the band. Previous bassist have included D'Arcy Wretzky, Melissa Auf Der Maur and, more recently, Nicole Fiorentino.
Fiorentino and drummer Mike Byrne were shown the door last year. Corgan and guitarist Jeff Schroeder are the band's core members.
The PUMPKINS will embark on an eight-city acoustic tour starting on June 15 in Buffalo, New York, to be followed by a full co-headlining trek with MARILYN MANSON that starts on July 7 in Concord, California.

MOONSPELL Extends Deal With NAPALM RECORDSPortugese dark metal pioneers MOONSPELL have extended their worldwide deal with Napalm Records.
Comments MOONSPELL vocalist Fernando Ribeiro: "MOONSPELL has come to an interesting moment of our life as a band, and after releasing 'Extinct', it was like a veil was taken off our eyes end we decided to only pair with people who believe in our music and who can see beyond and rise above the rotten waters most of the business and music fell into these past few years. With that in mind, we joined forces with Napalm again, because they believe us, because they let us go and dare with our music, and because they hold truth to their word. We might not have signed in blood but our stars aligned, and it's with pleasure and hope in a great future that we say these news to all our fans. The future might be dark, but without true people like the ones working for Napalm, there would be no tomorrow."
Adds Napalm Records vice president Thomas Caser: "We are proud that one of the most exciting and innovative metal bands of today have prolongued the cooperation with Napalm Records. The path we have started together with the band two albums ago will continue and we will spare no efforts to grow the Portuguese wolves in the future!"
MOONSPELL's latest album, "Extinct", was released on March 17 via Napalm. The CD was completed at Fascination Street Studio in Örebro, Sweden with producer Jens Bogren, who has previously worked with KATATONIA, AMON AMARTH, OPETH and PARADISE LOST, among others.
The cover artwork for the mediabook edition of "Extinct" was designed by Seth Siro Anton.
According to a press release, "Extinct" is "all but a musical and emotional manifesto. It puts the D of darkness back into dark metal. It's a true lesson for the new generations of goth metal about how it's played and felt with body and soul; a lesson taught by no others than our Portuguese gentlemen wolves."
"Extinct" was made available as a mediabook, jewel case, special limited deluxe edition and LP. 4

Video: ROCK GODDESS Performs At SWEDEN ROCK FESTIVALFan-filmed video footage of the reunited original lineup of ROCK GODDESS — the female power trio from the days of NWOBHM (New Wave Of British Heavy Metal) featuring sisters Jody and Julie Turner along with bassist Tracey Lamb — performing on June 5 at this year's edition of the Sweden Rock Festival in Sölvesborg can be seen below.
Speaking about ROCK GODDESS's forthcoming comeback album, which was originally supposed to be titled "Unfinished Business", Lamb told MetalTalk: "We've got a track the same name, 'Unfinished Business', but we've decided to call it something else, which we haven't quite decided yet."
Asked who is producing the CD, Jody said: "It's produced by me and someone else. Whether another producer comes in at the end, that's still to be decided."
Lamb previously said that the new material "is sounding mega and awesome" and added that playing the band's classic songs feels "weird but wonderful."
ROCK GODDESS was formed in 1977 in Wandsworth South London by Jody Turner (guitar and vocals) and Julie Turner (drums) when they were thirteen and nine years old, respectively. They recruited school friend Tracey Lamb on bass guitar.
ROCK GODDESS first rose to the nation's awareness when they were first featured in Kerrang! No. 5 in 1981 in the "Armed And Ready" section as one of the bands to watch out for. After recording a four-track demo tape and an appearance at the Reading Festival in 1982, sharing a bill with IRON MAIDEN, plus regular shows at the Marquee club, the band landed a contract with the A&M label. They recorded their eponymous debut album with producer Vic Maile in 1983 and hit the lower end of the charts. A follow-up album, "Hell Hath No Fury", arrived a year later, by which time Lamb had left the band to form SHE and later to join GIRLSCHOOL.
After their contract with A&M expired in 1987, ROCK GODDESS' already recorded (in 1985) third album, titled "Young And Free", was released only in France. The effort saw the band taking on a more commercial sound.
ROCK GODDESS' career was cut short by financial and contractual problems, which forced them to disband shortly thereafter.
ROCK GODDESS did briefly reform in 2009 and was due to play Hard Rock Hell festival in Prestatyn, and was also booked to perform at the Headbangers Open Air festival in Germany the following summer, but split before they had a chance to appear at either event.
In March 2013, it was announced that the original ROCK GODDESS lineup of Jody Turner, Julie Turner and Tracey Lamb had reunited and would start recording a new album.

LUCIFER: Entire Debut Album Available For Streaming"Lucifer I", the debut album from Berlin, Germany-based heavy metal blues rockers LUCIFER, can be streamed in its entirety using the SoundCloud widget below. The CD will be released on June 16 via Rise Above Records.
Following the premature demise of THE OATH, Johanna Sadonis wasted no time in creating a new beast to go beyond previous limitations.
Having released its debut single, "Anubis" earlier in 2015, LUCIFER has generated a significant buzz and the anticipation for "Lucifer I" is high. With the addition of Garry Jennings (ex-CATHEDRAL, DEATH PENALTY) as co-songwriter and studio guitarist, LUCIFER has moved forward into a realm of rock music which is very rare and very special in this time. Genuine, classic, heavy, studied and passionate are just a few words that instantly spring to mind upon first listen. LUCIFER's instinctive take on the very soul of early heavy metal is the electrified essence of rock'n'roll at its nascent purest. This is magic rock — heartfelt and holistic. Eschewing the now well-worn clichés of the "occult-rock explosion" in favour of a truthful and tempestuous re-imagining of classic '70s proto-metal and turbocharged blues, the eight songs on this band's debut album crackle and fizz with burgeoning energy and the compelling conviction of music made for all the right reasons. Although still firmly rooted in the fertile soil first cultivated by BLACK SABBATH, DEEP PURPLE, LED ZEPPELIN and BLUE ÖYSTER CULT, LUCIFER exist in a proudly liberated and limitless sonic realm, where the heaviest blues rock is a mere starting point for the band's skyward creative trajectory. "Lucifer I" track listing:
01. Abracadbra02. Purple Pyramid03. Izrael04. Sabbath05. White Mountain06. Morning Star07. Total Eclipse08. A Grave For Each One of Us
The video for the song "Izrael" can be seen below. The clip — directed by and Chris Koll and Sadonis — was shot in part at LUCIFER's first Berlin show in April.

FEAR FACTORY: Audio Snippet Of New Song 'Protomech'Los Angeles-based cyber metallers FEAR FACTORY will release their ninth studio album, "Genexus", on August 7 worldwide via Nuclear Blast Entertainment. The follow-up to 2012's "The Industrialist" was co-produced by longtime collaborator Rhys Fulber, along with guitarist Dino Cazares and vocalist Burton C. Bell and mixed by Andy Sneap (ARCH ENEMY, TESTAMENT, EXODUS, MACHINE HEAD). Artwork was once again handled by Anthony Clarkson. Drums on "Genexus" were performed by Mike Heller (MALIGNANCY).
The first trailer for "Genexus", featuring an audio snippet of the song "Protomech", is available below.
"The word 'genexus' is a hybrid of two words: 'genesis' and 'nexus,'" explains vocalist Burton C. Bell. "This word describes the next transition in human evolution as man moves forward to a 'mechanical' state of being. Ray Kurzweil predicts that the singularity will occur around 2045. 'Genexus' is the term for that next evolutionary process. Where humans are machines, machines are human, and the differences are oblivious to the naked eye."
He continues: "This album is a record of thought patterns, psychology and struggles of the Genexus generation. The cognitive machine has arrived, and it wants autonomy from the industry that created it. This machine struggles, like every other human has throughout the course of history. This is the story of every one of us."
"Genexus" track listing:
01. Autonomous Combat System02. Anodized03. Dielectric04. Soul Hacker05. Protomech06. Genexus07. Church Of Execution08. Regenerate09. Battle For Utopia10. Expiration Date
Limited digipak bonus tracks:
11. Mandatory Sacrifice (Genexus Remix)12. Enhanced Reality
Says Cazares: "The sensation of finalizing our newest album is one of relief and joy, wrapped within a massive whirlwind of excitement.
"We really feel this is a very special FEAR FACTORY album. While being careful not to replicate ourselves, this album still has a very classic FEAR FACTORY vibe that we feel will appease both old and new fans. The aggressive, melodic and industrial elements are all intact and shine more than ever.
"Burt and I produced the album with Rhys Fulber co-producing. Damien Rainuad and Giuseppe Bassi handled most of the keys and pre-production. We also enlisted the masterful metallic skills of Andy Sneap for an amazing mixing job!
"We would like to thank everyone who has been a big part in the making of this record. We can't wait for everybody to hear it."
Speaking about what FEAR FACTORY is trying to accomplish with its forthcoming album, the band's first since signing with Nuclear Blast, Cazares said: "It's still just to be who we are. We are 'cyber metal,' whatever you wanna call it, but it's still a lot of the killer riffs, killer double bass, Burt's beautiful, melodic vocals. Conceptually, it's always still futuristic, man-versus-machine type of thing, but, you know, we thought we're gonna keep it real, keep it what we are and who we are."
Asked about how it feels to be celebrating the 20th anniversary of FEAR FACTORY's classic "Demanufacture" album in 2015 with only two members of the band's classic lineup remaining in the group, Dino said: "The two main members are in the band right now. The soul of the machine is still intact, and that's me and Burton. And I don't think anything has changed, really."
He continued: "Every album we do always has to have something a little different. From the beginning, from the first album, 'Soul Of A New Machine', it was very death metal inspired, [with] a little bit of industrial. The second album, 'Demanufacture', the classic album… Every record changes. 'Obsolete' was a big difference, you know what I mean?! But my right hand is still there, the passion is still there, Burt's killer melodic vocals are still there. So I think that's all that matters."
FEAR FACTORY recently parted ways with bassist Matt DeVries (previously of CHIMAIRA, where he played guitar, and SIX FEET UNDER and replaced him with Tony Campos (ex-SOULFLY, STATIC-X, PRONG, MINISTRY).
FEAR FACTORY will hit the road this July with COAL CHAMBER. 4

OPETH's MIKAEL ÅKERFELDT Talks Long-Rumored Solo Album, Possibility Of New STORM CORROSION Material (Video)RockSverige.se conducted an interview with guitarist/vocalist Mikael Åkerfeldt of Swedish progressive metallers OPETH at this year's Sweden Rock Festival, which was held last weekend in Sölvesborg. You can now watch the chat below. A couple of excerpts follow (transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET).
On whether any progress has been made on his long-rumored solo album:
"I don't know. Maybe. I actually got an offer from a record label to do a solo record not long ago. But, I mean, those rumors come from me saying that I would like to do a thing like that to learn more about studio production, like the technical aspect of recording a record. So I was thinking I'm gonna start in a somewhat easy way, with just an acoustic guitar and vocals — basically some type of singer-songwriter record. But, I mean, it hasn't materialized. And since then people ask me all the time, 'When is it coming?' So it was never decided, really; it was just, like, something I said."
On whether he has any material set aside already for a possible solo album:
"Well, nothing that I've written with the intention of putting it out as a solo record. It's just… I have snippets of songs that haven't ended up anywhere else. So I might… I might do something, but I don't think people should hold their breaths."
On whether there are any plans to release a second album from STORM CORROSION, the collaboration between Åkerfeldt and PORCUPINE TREE's Steven Wilson:
"I think there's a possibility that we… We don't really know what to do with another record — what would it be? The good thing with [the first] STORM CORROSION [album] was that there was no references and nobody really knew that we were making that record. So when it came out, it was just, like, out of nowhere, and nobody knew what to expect. But now, since we have a record [out], there's also a reference, which kind of makes it a bit dull — that we have to follow up this record. But both me and Steve, we loved making that record and we love the record; it's very much an acquired taste, I think. So we said if we feel like it, we'll do another one. But we prefer to do so when people, kind of, forgot about the first one." 5

APOCALYPTICA: Video Footage Of Montreal ConcertFan-filmed video footage of APOCALYPTICA's June 10 performance at the Metropolis in Montreal, Quebec, Canada can be seen below.
APOCALYPTICA's new album, "Shadowmaker", was released on April 21 via Eleven Seven Music Group's Better Noise imprint. The Finnish musicians — accompanied by their American lead singer Franky Perez — recorded the CD with Grammy Award-winning producer Nick Raskulinecz (FOO FIGHTERS, DEFTONES, MASTODON).
In a recent interview with Australia's The Rockpit, APOCALYPTICA's Eicca Toppinen stated about "Shadowmaker": "It's always hard to talk about albums without being a nerdy musician. I think it's a totally new kind of record for APOCALYPTICA, especially because we have one singer on the whole album, and I think it's making the whole album more solid. It's more of a band record compared to the album that we have had guest vocalists, so I think it's more solid.
"We had a break when we stopped touring for '7th Symphony', we had one year off, we didn't write a single song for a record, nothing except for 'Wagner Reloaded', but for the regular stuff, nothing. And after the break, we came together and if we wanted to do something, we have to do exactly what we want to do and this record is the result of that, that journey.
"We wanted to challenge ourselves even more and we wanted to be tight as a band before the pre-production and the thing that Franky [Perez, vocalist] was part of the pre-production, we spent weeks with him in the rehearsal room arranging the songs and getting things more defined before we went into the studio.
"I think this album is full of attitude, it's a real attitude record."
Asked how APOCALYPTICA ended up hiring Franky Perez to handle the vocals on the entire "Shadowmaker" record, Eicca said: "It was actually the beginning of June last year when we made the decision to, 'Okay, there's no more guest vocalists on this record. We need to find a guy who makes the record and will tour with us for the record. It's like a puzzle where all the pieces of the puzzle are spread all over, they are not connected, and we need to get those pieces connected. And ways to have one singer to make the whole thing more understandable for people, to make the working circumstances more comfortable for us where things are not so dependant on people outside of the band — the guests, the managers and the label — so it's all about us."
He continued: "Our manager put a quiet request in the business, like, 'Okay, APOCALYPTICA searching for a singer for the record. Do we have any suggestions or any people who are great singers who do not have the right band yet?' And we got about 20-25 suggestions. We went through them, and asked five of them to make a recording and from those we picked out three and asked them to sing a little piece of 'Hole In My Soul' from the new album, and Franky was the obvious choice. So he came through the record company search. Somebody said at the American label that he's the guy, 'I've used him many times on session [recordings]. He's great. And he didn't have anything active going except his solo record, but nothing band-wise."
Eicca added: "I love Franky's voice. He's not just a regular singer. He has a very soulful sound and he's able to sing different styles, which is perfect for APOCALYPTICA, because our songs are not only heavy metal, it's a variety of different colors and different dynamics, and the singer needs to match that, and I think Franky is a perfect match."
Asked if APOCALYPTICA would consider keeping Perez permanently as a bandmember, Eicca said: "It's too early to think about it, but nothing is decided. Now we got the record done, and then we will have touring more or less for two years, and at the end of that time, or sometime during those two years, we will know. But it wouldn't be an impossible option to have Franky in the band, but it's too early to think about it. We have been through several concepts, and we still want the option to change the concept to do something different."

ENERTIA Announce First New Album In 11 Years; “Beside You, Beside Me” Track StreamingFollowing up on the success of their Divebomb Bootcamp Series re-release last year entitled, Victim Of Thought, Enertia returns with their fifth album and first of new material in a decade. Piece Of The Factory, will be released via Divebomb Records on July 17.
An official description below:
“After working practically non-stop for eleven years, which included rehearsing 2-3 times a week, 800+ shows in 20+ states and well over 10,000 CDs sold on six continents, upstate New York pure American Metal band, Enertia was at a crossroads. After spending in excess of $25k recording their fourth album, Force, with producer, Neil Kernon, the band had finally exhausted their bank account and didn't have the money or resources to properly record their fifth album. It was time for Enertia to regroup.
“Fast forward to 2007, after three productive years laying the groundwork for what would become their much anticipated new album everything had almost disastrously ground to a halt, that is, until bassist, Joe Paciolla, made up his mind that these recordings had to be completed no matter the cost. In 2011, the band fortuitously happened upon a great studio and in it the remarkable engineer/producer, Tim Lynch, who was enlisted to help guide Enertia through the completion of the album.
“Three additional years of hard work and several hundred hours were spent at The Recording Company in Esperance, NY, where Enertia created the most diverse, infectious and prolific album of the band’s lengthy career, Piece Of The Factory.
“Enertia is now almost two decades in from the release of their debut EP, Law Of Three, and after years of hard work and perseverance it would seem this could their end up being their swan song. Could Piece Of The Factory be Enertia’s farewell, only time will tell, but delivering the fans an album this powerful indicates they most definitely plan on going out with the biggest bang of their nearly twenty year career.”

“Demons Of Silence”
“The Hardest Sorrow”
“Piece Of The Factory”
“Beside You, Beside Me”
“An Old Fashioned Beating”

KRONOS Streaming Lyric Video “Klymenos Underwrath”Arisen New Era is the impending new full-length from French death metal legion and recent Unique Leader signees, Kronos. Featuring a continuous textual reference to the gods of ancient civilizations, Kronos punctures ears with a heightened level of dynamics accomplished by only by a select number of bands. Recorded, mixed and mastered by David Potvin at Dome Studios (Lyzanxia, Arcania, Under The Abyss) in (appropriately) Angers, France, the nine-track Arisen New Era is a smoldering display of technical death metal barbarity adorned in the distinctive cover art of Pierre Alain (Withering Soul, Silentlie, Cyrax). The band has released a lyric video for the album’s fifth offering “Klymenos Underwrath”.
"We are extremely happy to have our upcoming new album out on Unique Leader Records," the band issues. "This is the perfect fit for Kronos as we are huge fans of their output from the beginning. We're proud to be next on the list. Arisen New Era will be, without any doubt, the most successful album from the band. The riffs are more powerful, technical and melodic than anything Kronos has written thus far. Each song has its own identity and the epic side of the band is more present than ever before and backed by a great production. We are really looking forward its release and can't wait to play these new tracks live!"
Arisen New Era tracklisting:
"Infernal Abyss Sovereignty"
"Zeus Dethroned"
"Soul-Voracious Vultures"
"Rapture In Misery"
"Klymenos Underwrath"
"Aeons Titan Crown"
"Brotherlords"
"Purity Slaughtered"
"Hellysium"
