FREE FALL, the Swedish rock band featuring guitarist Mattias Bärjed (SOUNDTRACK OF OUR LIVES) and drummer Ludwig Dahlberg (THE [INTERNATIONAL] NOISE CONSPIRACY), has inked a deal with Nuclear Blast Records. The group's debut album, "Power & Volume", will be released in early 2013.

On November 30, the "Power & Volume" title track will be released as a seven-inch single on black (retail version) and white vinyl (Nuclear Blast mailorder only) as well as digitally via iTunes. All versions will also include the rare non-album track "Stand Up For Your Rock 'N' Roll".

Commented the group: "We believe that the deal FREE FALL makes today with Nuclear Blast will be a significant step towards our quest to liberate people through freedom rock; world domination through power and volume!"

DIRT's debut album, "Suicide Blues", was released in July 2009 via the band's own label, Dirt Rock Records.

The band played gigs at various clubs and local festivals between 2010 and 2011, where they gained new fans.

DIRT's sound can be described as sludge/doom metal with strong blues and southern rock influences, even though they prefer to call their style "southern groove metal."

On November 6th, AEROSMITH will release Music From Another Dimension! on Columbia Records. It marks the band’s 15th studio album and their first studio album of all-new material in 11 years.
RollingStone.com are premiering the album, one track at a time, in the weeks leading up to the release. The band slow things down with some bittersweet emotion on 'Tell Me', which begins with an acoustic guitar and the heartbroken voice of Steven Tyler lamenting a lost love: "I guess I have to accept it / I was never the one... Why was it there for me / but not for you?"

There is a bit of THE BEATLES' 'Norwegian Wood' in those opening chords, which give way to a soaring, wistful chorus. 'Tell Me' was written by bassist Tom Hamilton, who has contributed the occasional song starting with the swaggering 'Uncle Salty', off 1975's Toys In The Attic. This one, though, was the first to include his own lyrics. He was inspired by an online course in lyric writing from the Berklee College of Music in Boston, where Aerosmith's Joey Kramer and Brad Whitford both studied.

"I had these chord changes, and I thought maybe I could try writing lyrics," says Hamilton. "It was a whole new experience for me. The song is about lost love, but I've been married since I was 25 years old. My wife goes, 'What the hell do you know about that?' I was just evoking a feeling I had when I was a kid listening to the Beatles and the Stones – I always loved their lonely sounding songs."

Tyler heard 'Tell Me' after basic tracks were done by the band, and was intrigued by Hamilton's words. "I don't know how you can put being not in love in such eloquent terms – we can argue about that later," Tyler says, turning to Hamilton. "It's just genius."

KILL DEVIL HILL, the new band featuring legendary drummer Vinny Appice (DIO, BLACK SABBATH, HEAVEN & HELL) alongside Rex Brown (PANTERA, DOWN) on bass, Mark Zavon (RATT, W.A.S.P., 40 CYCLE HUM) on guitar and Jason "Dewey" Bragg (PISSING RAZORS) on vocals, recently wrapped up a North American tour in support of their self-titled debut album, which was released earlier this year via Steamhammer/SPV.

KILL DEVIL HILL will hit the road again in November, playing select headline dates and supporting legendary shock rocker Alice Cooper. This jaunt kicks off November 23 and runs through December 1.

The self-titled debut album from KILL DEVIL HILL sold around 1,800 copies in the United States in its first week of release. The CD landed at position No. 9 on the Top New Artist Albums (Heatseekers) chart, which lists the best-selling albums by new and developing artists, defined as those who have never appeared in the Top 100 of The Billboard 200.

"Kill Devil Hill" was produced by Warren Riker, who is best known for his work with DOWN, CORROSION OF CONFORMITY, SUBLIME and CATHEDRAL. The effort was made available in a standard CD edition, as an iTunes digital download, and double gatefold LP.

On the subject of the album’s visual aspects, the band revealed the following personal testimonial about how it came to be: "In November 2011 we went out wandering through our own and neighbouring countries. Looking for the perfect setting for the artwork to the new album. After a couple of days our trail ended at the village of Wissant in North France. The site is a gathering of destroyed bunkers from the second World War. The force and strength coming from these weathered constructions was overwhelming. Concrete blasted to pieces, hundreds of bullet holes everywhere, the salt and sand were once covered in blood. We drew respect from these stone temples, this once, was a world of pain. We stayed overnight at the site and slept on one of the bunkers just so we could get swallowed by the sea as tide came in and when the dawn brought first light, Stefaan Temmerman took the picture we knew was going to be perfect to represent our Mass V. It was a long and cold night."

"Temper Temper", the new single from Welsh metallers BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE, can be streamed below. The track will be released on November 25 in the U.K. and October 30 in the rest of the world across all digital providers. The band debuted the song live at London, England's Maida Vale studios earlier today (Monday, October 22) during BBC Radio 1's "Rock Week". The gigs are being hosted by Radio 1 "Rock Show" host Daniel P. Carter and fellow Radio 1 DJ Zane Lowe.

"Temper Temper" comes off BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE's as-yet-untitled fourth album, which is due out in early 2013. The CD was once again produced by Don Gilmore (LINKIN PARK, GOOD CHARLOTTE), who worked on the group's last LP, 2010's "Fever", and was mixed by noted engineer Chris Lord-Alge (DEFTONES, NICKELBACK, AVENGED SEVENFOLD).

In a recent interview with South Africa's Voice Of Rock Radio, BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE frontman Matt Tuck stated about the band's upcoming album, "For me, it's a huge compliment that [Gilmore] really didn't have much input [this time around], 'cause on the last record he did, and it kind of opened my eyes to write differently and to think about, not slowing things down, but kind of… there's no restraint on screaming and restraint on a million miles an hour. It's not necessary, really. We've kind of done that [already]. So on this record, [he kind of] sat back and let me do it without having much input, which to me, knowing Don, is a huge compliment, 'cause it means I've kind of done it right by my own. So, yeah, we've definitely fucking nailed it on this record. I know it's a long way before coming out and anyone's gonna hear anything, but I've lived with [it] and I know what it is, and trust me, it's good."

Asked about BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE's longevity and musical progression over the years, Tuck said, "We've been doing this eight years now and we're still at the top of the game of… we're still at the top of our tree of our style of music. I mean, no one's really kind of tried to take us over. So we have kind of taken the foot off the gas already a little bit with 'Fever', and the album we just recorded, we've actually backed off a little bit again — not because we don't think people don't wanna hear heavy music, we've actually made it heavier by slowing down and less is more. Like METALLICA's 'black album,' you wouldn't necessarily call it a heavy album, but the sound of it is fucking heavy and it's big and it sounds timeless because of that. It's not a million miles an hour — it's big and heavy and loud. We're not trying to make a 'black' album, we're just trying to kind of take that theory of slowing down, putting less technical bits in and concentrating on the vocals and the meat and bones of the song."

Singer Eduardo "Edu" Falaschi quit ANGRA in May. He explained in a statement, "There comes a moment in a man's life when it is necessary to make a radical decision in order to move forward with dignity and renewed energy."

Falaschi joined ANGRA in 2000 and appeared on the band's last four studio albums — 2001's "Rebirth", 2004's "Temple Of Shadows", 2006's "Aurora Consurgens" and 2010's "Aqua".

70000 Tons Of Metal will sail Monday, January 28, 2013 aboard the Royal Caribbean "Majesty Of The Seas" from Miami, Florida and will not return you to the real world for four days until Friday, February 1, 2013.

"Down IV Part I - The Purple EP" sold 12,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 35 on The Billboard 200 chart.

"Down IV Part I - The Purple EP", DOWN's first in a series of four EPs to be released over the next few years (with a year between EPs), each touching on a different aspect of the band's sound, came out on September 18. It will be followed by the second collection of songs early next year, around the time of a planned U.S. tour. EPs three and four are scheduled for later in 2013.

"Down IV Part I - The Purple EP" heralds the sound of DOWN going back to its roots, with influences from BLACK SABBATH, SAINT VITUS and WITCHFINDER GENERAL.

Lyrically, the EP goes beyond just personal experiences, and explores themes that include the faith of mankind, the imperfection of mankind and cultural belief systems.

"DOWN gives me the platform to be poetic and paint imagery with lyrics," said vocalist Philip Anselmo. "That's the approach I took. They complement the music and create an ominous feeling. Ultimately, when people consume the words, it's always their interpretation that matters. I could be image-conscious though when I wrote. It's not so gut level or street. The darker shit is some of my favorite."

DIO DISCIPLES — the project featuring former DIO members Simon Wright (drums), Craig Goldy (guitar) and Scott Warren (keyboards) — kicked off its North American tour this past Saturday night (October 20) at the House Of Blues in Anaheim, California. FEAR AND THE NERVOUS SYSTEM's first-ever tour kicked off on October 13 in Redondo Beach, California and wrapped on October 21 in West Hollywood.

According to Sundén, CIVIL WAR's sound is "more old-school hard rock," with "a little less keyboards" than that of SABATON. He says, "With Patrik's vocals on top, it becomes a different thing, but there are some parallels [to our previous band]."

Regarding how CIVIL WAR came together, b>Mullback told the Swedish-language newspaper Dalarnas Tidningar (DT), "It came pretty naturally. We always thought Patrik had a good voice and he accepted our offer when we asked him to join the band."

"I had no hesitation about getting involved," Patrik said. "ASTRAL DOORS certainly has a solid fan base, but we are a little more underground. I see this as an opportunity to reach a wider audience."

The four ex members of SABATON were never involved in the songwriting process with their former band since those duties were usually handled by vocalist Joakim Brodén. But in the new group, everyone is contributing ideas.

"This has been a reawakening of sorts," Mÿhr said. "I have never been in a situation where there has been so much creativity."

On the topic of whether CIVIL WAR will continue SABATON's tradition of focusing on war-related themes in its lyrics, Mÿhr said, "No, we won't. Now the lyrics can be about anything. [CIVIL WAR was just] a good name that sounded good."

"It Was Beautiful But Now It's Sour", the new Casper Haugegaard-directed video from RWAKE, can be seen below. RWAKE's 2002 release "Hell Is A Door To The Sun" was reissued March 2011. The long-out-of-print album was remixed by Sanford Parker, remastered, and repackaged to include new artwork, photography, and liner notes from the band.

After reissuing three acclaimed recent studio albums by Friedman over the summer, Prosthetic Records is excited to now introduce North American audiences to the former MEGADETH and CACOPHONY axeman's two "Tokyo Jukebox" albums. Released in Japan in 2009 and 2011, respectively, "Tokyo Jukebox" and "Tokyo Jukebox 2" — the ninth and eleventh chapters in Friedman's influential solo discography — will make their U.S. debuts on November 20 as a limited-edition, specially priced 2CD release featuring artwork exclusive to this pressing and new liner notes by Friedman himself. The double album is now available for pre-order.

Soon after leaving MEGADETH following a 10-year run in which the iconic band sold some 10 million albums worldwide, Friedman — perhaps the most revered lead guitarist in thrash metal history — moved to Japan, where over the past decade he became a household name. Between his solo releases and collaborations with Japanese stars, he has played on and written numerous Top 10 hits (including two No. 1s); he has also made hundreds of appearances on mainstream Japanese television and performed at legendary venues such as Budokan and the Tokyo Dome.

In a recent interview with Loudwire, SISTER SIN frontwoman Liv Jagrell stated about the track, "It's a really good first single, I think, because the whole album is in that style. It shows a different side of SISTER SIN because we actually have some keyboards in this song and on some of the other songs, too, and we worked both on the dynamics and on the melodies in a [different] way than the previous album."

She added, "On this album and on that song, we thought a little bit out of the box and experimented and tried to go out of what our comfort zone is. I think it turned out really good. I'm happy with the album and that song."

Regarding the song's the lyrics, Jagrell said, "It's about the kinds of scams, political and religious scams and people everywhere trying to tell us the world is going to end but we really just want to try to live today and not to live for tomorrow or for things that might happen. It's satirical a little bit towards all of those people trying to say what we should do and not do."

Asked what the album title "Now And Forever" means to her, Liv said, "The title 'Now And Forever' is kind of a statement for us as a band. As a band and as individuals, we have been through quite a lot of things, a lot of troubles and things that might break up bands but we're so dedicated to this band. So that's the title — we are here now and hopefully forever. We won't give up even if something goes wrong — it's tough to be in the music business today."

QUIET RIOT singer Kevin DuBrow died in November 2007 of an accidental cocaine overdose. He was 52 years old.

QUIET RIOT was perhaps best known for its 1983 cover of "Cum On Feel The Noize". The song, featuring DuBrow's powerful, gravelly voice, appeared on the band's album "Metal Health" — which was the first by a metal band to reach No. 1 on the Billboard chart.

Perth Western, Australia-based hard rockers BABYJANE have released an EPK (Electronic Press Kit) for their forthcoming sophomore album, "Make It Sick". The CD's title track, which features a guest appearance by John Corabi, former lead singer of MÖTLEY CRÜE, THE SCREAM and UNION, was recorded with legendary producer Michael Wagener's (METALLICA, SKID ROW, OZZY OSBOURNE) Wireworld Studio in Nashville, Tennessee.

According to the UK's The Sun, KISS bassist GENE SIMMONS claims he was once handed around £200 million to tempt LED ZEPPELIN surviving band members Jimmy Page, Robert Plant and John Paul Jones to reform.
The tongue-waggler said: “In 2009/10 I was given a few hundred million dollars in an account by a large concert promoter and given the task of reaching out to Jimmy and Robert and trying to convince them to get back together.

“Of course, it didn’t work. Robert just doesn’t want to do it.”

Gene – who launched Kiss’s 20th album Monster last week – was told to get Zeppelin back together after their monumental one-off gig in 2007 at London’s O2.

Bet he was annoyed when he failed to seal the deal and land his cut of the monster payday the band would have got for a reunion tour.

California based instrumental progressive metal project FALL OF REASON have released their debut EP Reflections.

THRONE OF MALEDICTION is self-releasing an EP split with their other project, IRREVERANT SOUL. Entitled Rites, it is a preview of sorts for Throne of Malediction's upcoming second album, Out Of Darkness Comes Light (release date tba).
According to the band, "the first five tracks from Rites are a preview to that upcoming album. Past band members and other session musicians appear on various tracks throughout. The opening song 'Born Of Innocence' has Tamara Picardo (UPON SHADOWS) on keys and backup vocals. The doomy and grim track, 'What Will Never Be' features Vrangsinn (CARPATHIAN FOREST) on bass guitar and mixing duties, which was a real honor for the band.

Overall, Rites is a musical journey through the heavy and softer sounds Throne Of Malediction's founding members are capable of.

Consisting of only two members, Irreverant Soul is a more raw and brutal project, but still experimental in some tracks. Some of the tracks are re-mastered versions from the self titled 2009 EP (Satanica Records). Also included on the Irreverant Soul side of Rites, is a SEPULTURA cover of 'Troops Of Doom'."
