Finnish extreme metalelrs IMPALED NAZARENE have finalized the track listing for their new album, "Manifest", which will be released on October 24 in Finland (licensed to Spinefarm Records) and October 26 in rest of Europe (Osmose Productions). The CD was recorded and mixed at Sonic Pump studio by Tapio Pennanen, and was mastered at Finnvox studio by Mika Jussila. The cover artwork and layout was handlded by Ritual.

On Saturday, September 8th BW&BK scribe Carl Begai attended a listening session for EDGUY frontman Tobias Sammet's forthcoming AVANTASIA album, The Scarecrow. On offer were 11 rough mixes featuring the official Avantasia line-up of Sammet (vocals), Sascha Paeth (rhythm and lead guitars), Eric Singer (KISS/drums) and Miro Rodenberg (keyboards and orchestration), Henjo Richter (GAMMA RAY/additional lead guitars), and several guest performers. According to Carl's report, the title track of the album "features Jorn Lande's best vocal performance ever" - a claim seconded by Paeth, who produced and is mixing the album - and "the heaviest song Alice Cooper has ever done." EVANESCENCE has posted the behind-the-scenes, "making-of" footage for its "Good Enough" video. Watch the "making-of" clip as well as the finished video below.

EVANESCENCE debuted its new lineup on May 19 at the Rock on the Range festival in Columbus, Ohio. The touring band now includes guitarist Troy McLawhorn and drummer Will Hunt, both of DARK NEW DAY, who replaced John LeCompt and Rocky Gray.

EVANESCENCE frontwoman Amy Lee married New York-based therapist Josh Hartzler on May 6.

The singer is also a national spokesperson for the Epilepsy Foundation's "Out of the Shadows" campaign and has met with teens living with epilepsy while on tour. Lee has a 13-year-old brother afflicted with the disease.

EVANESCENCE recently finished co-headlining the Family Values tour with KORN.

Former NIGHTWISH singer Tarja Turunen's video for the song "I Walk Alone", can be viewed at this location (Real Media). The clip was shot in Berlin, Germany with director Jörn Heitmann, who previously worked with NIGHTWISH on the "Sleeping Sun" clip in 2005. The "I Walk Alone" single will be released mid-October Universal Music, to be followed by a full-length CD, "My Winter Storm", on November 9.

"My Winter Storm" is being produced by Daniel Presley (FAITH NO MORE, JEWEL, THE BREEDERS), who has been joined in the studio by a truly stellar line-up of musicians: Doug Wimbish on bass (LIVING COLOUR, ANNIE LENNOX, JOE SATRIANI, JEFF BECK, MADONNA, ROLLING STONES), Alex Scholpp on electric guitars (FARMER BOYS) and Earl Harvin on drums (SEAL, PET SHOP BOYS, AIR), a player personally selected by Tarja after she saw him stealing the show at a SEAL concert. Keyboards and programming, meanwhile, are being provided by Torsten Stenzel, whose previous credits include NELLY FURTADO, MOBY, TINA TURNER, VANESSA MAE and more.

Released in 2004, the highly-acclaimed "Once" was Tarja's last studio outing with NIGHTWISH — an album that rose to the top of the charts around the world, from Mexico through to the European Billboard lists; the record picked up platinum awards in Germany and Finland, and turned gold right across Scandinavia, as well as in Brazil, Austria, Switzerland, Greece and Hungary.

Guitarist Christofer Malmström of the Swedish thrashers DARKANE has issued the following update:

"It's been a while. It seems like everything takes so much longer time when you have kids... and three of the DARKANE members got kids at about the same time, so we're all in the same boat.

"You might know by now that our vocalist Andreas Sydow quit the band about a month ago. You can read his statement at www.darkane.com. DARKANE will go on with a new vocalist and we will perform at ProgPower Scandinavia in Copehagen in November as planned.

"So what has happened except for that? Peter [Wildoer, drums] and Klas [Ideberg, guitar] recorded the new SOILWORK album in our studio called Not Quite Studio, which as of a few weeks back turned into Not At All Studios due to flooding and some major water damages. The band CONSTRUCDEAD was just about to enter and had to relocate to antother studio. The damages were so bad that we can't continue but have to find another place to build a new studio. Does this suck big time? Yes, it does! We don't have time for this. We were mixing the sound of the DVD, and we were about to start recording our fifth DARKANE album in about two months, but now we have to focus on finding a new place and start building the studio again.

"We recorded three albums in Not Quite Studio. The first one was 'Layers of Lies'. The second one was my solo album NON-HUMAN LEVEL, and the third one was the new SOILWORK.

"[But] enough of the whining... Of course we will rise again... stronger than ever!!! The new DARKANE album is as good as written, and don't expect anything other than brutal, fast, dramatic, heavy, well-played, well-sounding... well, well everything.... album. Just kidding, but I don't think anyone will be disappointed. DARKANE will stick to our style."

PATHS OF POSSESSION, the Florida-based band fronted by CANNIBAL CORPSE vocalist George "Corpsegrinder" Fisher, has posted a new song, entitled "Memory Burn", on its Myspace page. The track comes off the group's third album, "The End of the Hour", due on October 16 via Metal Blade Records.

"The End of the Hour" was recorded at Mana Recording Studios in St. Petersburg, Florida. "We recorded a cover of CANCERSLUG's 'Soulless' for a Japan track," said bassist Randy Butman. "I am excited about this disc and I believe it is a stronger release than [2005's] 'Promises in Blood' was. Once again we have the mighty Kris Verwimp doing the art and layout for the disc."

PATHS OF POSSESSION's second CD, "Promises in Blood", was released in October 2005 via Metal Blade Records. The album was recorded at Mana Recording Studios in Tampa, Florida with producer Erik Rutan (HATE ETERNAL, MORBID ANGEL).

Germany's groundbreaking death metal and hardcore fusionists HEAVEN SHALL BURN have issued the following update:

HEAVEN SHALL BURN entered the national album chart in their home country at position No. 65 with their latest effort, "Deaf to Our Prayers". The recording of "Deaf to Our Prayers" was done at Rape of Harmonies Studios in Thüringen.

According to Billboard.com, a press conference will be held on September 12 in London in connection with LED ZEPPELIN's possible reunion concert in honor of late producer/record mogul Ahmet Ertegun, to be held at the O2 in London in November,

There has been talk that tour producers AEG Live and Michael Cohl's CPI (ROLLING STONES, GENESIS) have put in offers on a ZEPPELIN tour featuring founding members Jimmy Page, Robert Plant and John Paul Jones with late drummer John Bonham's son Jason on drums. But it is also well known in the industry that standing offers have been on the table for a LED ZEPPELIN tour for more than a decade.

Swedish melodic death/black metallers DEVIAN have posted the track "Scarred" on their MySpace page. The song comes off their debut album, "Ninewinged Serpent", due on October 22 via Century Media Records.

DEVIAN was originally founded by Legion (vocals) and Emil Dragutinovic (dums) after their departure from MARDUK. Together with Joinus, Markus Lundberg (both guitarists in SARGATHANAS REIGN) and bass player Tomas Nilsson, they form an unstoppable organic extreme metal machine driven by a raving hunger and deadset determination.

THERION's video for the song "Son of the Staves of Time" has been released and can be wached this location. The track comes off the Swedish band's latest studio album, the dual-disc "Gothic Kaballah", which was released in North America on February 6 via Nuclear Blast Records.

THERION, THE VISION BLEAK and SIRENIA will team up for a European tour in December.

THERION recently announced the departure of vocalist Mats Levén (YNGWIE MALMSTEEN, KRUX, TREAT, AT VANCE), which took effect prior to the band's appearance at this year's Wacken Open Air festival in early August. His replacement in the group is Thomas Vikström, who is best known to metal fans as the voice behind CANDLEMASS' "Chapter VI" album (1992).

San Francisco's pioneer thrashers EXODUS will shoot a video for the song "Riot Act" off their upcoming album "The Atrocity Exhibition: Exhibit A" in September. The clip will be directed by Jon Schnepp who is known for his work on "Metalocalypse" (an animated program about DETHKLOK, the world's most popular death metal band, on Cartoon Network's Adult Swim), which has been described as "'Spinal Tap' meets 'Scooby Doo' meets Norway." Schnepp is responsible for the character design of the five DETHKLOK members, directs the majority of the "Metalocalypse" episodes for each season, and works closely with the show's co-creators/writers Brendon Small and Tommy Blacha.

Commented EXODUS guitarist Gary Holt: "Having the opportunity to work with Jon on our video for 'Riot Act' is going to be amazing. Having just recently done our own guest appearance on 'Metalocalypse', we went out on a limb and asked Jon if he'd shoot our video. When he said yes, we were stoked to say the least. The ideas that he's come up with promise to make this our best video ever! I usually hate making videos, but this time I'm actually excited about it! It will be unique, and of course, it will be heavy!"

Finnish folk metal warriors TURISAS are ready to unleash their video for "Rasputin", a cover version of the old BONEY M disco classic every fan should already recognize from the band's live shows.

Band mastermind Warlord comments: "This video is pretty far from what you'd expect from a TURISAS video — or any metal video for that matter! The idea to the video is just as wild as the cover song itself: a battle metal band covering a '70s disco hit. Just as the song, it is a crossover of the '70s kitsch attached to the BONEY M track, but performed by us as we do it. Director Vesa-Matti Vainio and the whole crew did a great job on this one, and to me this is a good pick for our first video ever. I assure you, there are plenty of ideas on epic spectacles to be looked into later."

Veteran German metallers ATROCITY will release their long-awaited new album, "Werk 80 II", on February 8, 2008. A single will precede the full-length CD in November. Like the first "Werk 80" release, which came out in 1997, "Werk 80 II" features ATROCITY's interpretations of hit songs from the '80s.

Commented frontman Alex Krull: "We took a lot of time for the production to get the best result. All fans of the first 'Werk 80' will like the second one too. This time we have worked together with an orchestra and a choir. So the whole album has gained a bit more of a classical touch, which I personally like a lot. Everything sounds very harmonic and organic. The work on this album has been intense and thrilling. On the first 'Werk 80' album we also used classical elements but we enforced this on the new one. Thus the electronic parts got moved a little bit into the background. We didn't want to do the same on this successive album but including new elements and developing our style. I promise you 'Werk 80 II' is gonna be a class of its own worth waiting for it."

Regarding the album cover artwork, Krull said, "This time we got a very special cover model — we couldn't have chosen any better. The whole artwork is state of the art and dark at the same time. We won't say more at this moment."

Swedish metallers SOILWORK have contributed a new song called "Overclocked" to the soundtrack of the European point-and-click adventure game of the same name, due in Europe on October 12 via Anaconda. The track will also be available for purchase via the Nuclear Blast Musicshop.

Overclocked is being developed by House of Tales, the Germany-based studio that worked on other point-and-clickers The Moment of Silence and Mystery of the Druids. The psychological thriller focuses on army psychiatrist David McNamara, who is called to Staten Island Forensic Hospital to evaluate the condition of five young patients who have lost their memories to try to get to the root of their psychological trauma. In the game, the player switches between the six different characters as they explore their memories.

Tomi Joutsen, the lead singer of Finnish metal legends AMORPHIS, has recorded a guest appearance on "Carrion", the debut album by Joensuu, Finland-based modern thrashers DISCARD. Joutsen can be heard on three of the CD's tracks.

DISCARD, which combines the catchiness of PANTERA, the aggression of THE HAUNTED and the colossal soundscape of CHIMAIRA, was formed in 2004 and made two demos before signing a record deal with Shadow World Records from Helsinki. The latter of the demos caused quite a fuss among the media both in band's native Finland and abroad. Soundi, the leading Finnish rock magazine, awarded the demo with "demo of the month" prize.

"Carrion" was recorded during the spring at Joensuun Tiedepuisto and Studio Perkele with producer Sami "Jämy" Jämsen (DEATHCHAIN, SHADE EMPIRE, TURMION KÄTILÖT). The album was mixed by Jack Tyger, whose latest works include offerings by AJATTARA and DE LIRIUM'S ORDER, and the mastering was handled by Minerva Pappi at Finnvox Studios. The cover artwork was made by Vivendi Games' Taiwanese game concept artist Camille Kuo and the portraits in the CD sleeve were drawn by the award-winning Japanese game graphic artist Ryohei Hase.

Holland's female-fronted symphonic metallers WITHIN TEMPTATION will be joined by the Dutch Metropole Orchestra for a special concert at the Ahoy Stadium in Rotterdam, the Netherlands on February 7, 2008.

Commented the band: "When recording our albums, we have always worked with real orchestras. It is an important part of our sound, the dynamics and authentic sounds of an orchestra are truly unique. Therefore, we are really excited to do something like this in a live setting at the Ahoy!

Sweden's Ulterium Records and Nightmare Records have inked a deal for the North American release of the new album by the Italian symphonic metal band IVORY MOON, entitled "Human Nature". The CD, which was released in Sweden on September 5 and is due in the rest of Europe on September 28 (distributed by Metal Heaven), will be made available in North America on September 25. The album was engineered, mixed and mastered by Christian Ice at the Temple of Noise Studios in Rome, Italy.

German dark/symphonic gothic metal band ATARGATIS has pushed back the release date of its new album, "Nova" (Massacre Records), to November 16 from the previously announced October 26. The CD was recorded and produced at the Helion Studios (DARKSEED, EQUILIBRIUM) in Munich, Germany. The complete layout and design was created by Katja Piolka (PRIMAL FEAR, RAGE, LEAVES' EYES, DESTRUCTION). In addition to the cover design, the band worked with Katja Piolka on their newest promo pictures.

"Nova" contains ten songs, including a cover of ARMY OF LOVERS' "Crucified". The album includes a guest appearance by Matthias Hechler (Matze) from the German gothic metal heroes CREMATORY. The CD will also be available in digipack format (including two exclusive bonus tracks).
