British extreme metallers CRADLE OF FILTH have finalized the track listing for their new album, "Thornography", due on October 16 via Roadrunner Records. The follow-up to 2004's "Nymphetamine", "Thornography" was recorded at Lincolnshire, England's Chapel studios with producer Rob Caggiano (BLEEDING THROUGH, ANTHRAX) and was mixed at Backstage Studios in Derbyshire, England by Andy Sneap (MACHINE HEAD, SKINLAB, NEVERMORE).

The narraration for "Thornography" was once again laid down by Doug Bradley (a.k.a. "Hellraiser"'s chief Cenobite, Pinhead), who has previously worked with the group on "Her Ghost in the Fog" and "Swansong for a Raven".

The cover artwork for MESHUGGAH's upcoming remixed version of its acclaimed 2002 effort, "Nothing" has been posted online at this location. Due on September 15 via Nuclear Blast Records, the CD will include a bonus DVD containing live footage from the Swedish experimental extreme metallers' most recent European tour.

German metal band DIE APOKALYPTISCHEN REITER has posted the title track of its upcoming album, "Riders on the Storm", at www.myspace.com/reitermania. Also available at the same location is the band's cover version of the JOHNNY CASH/BLUES BROTHERS classic "Ghostriders in the Sky".

"Riders on the Storm" is scheduled for release on August 25 via Nuclear Blast Records. A limited digipack version of the album will include two bonus tracks.

Polish death metallers DECAPITATED have uploaded their video for the track "Day 69" at this location. The song comes off the group's latest CD, "Organic Hallucinosis", which was released in February via Earache Records. The follow-up to 2004's "The Negation" was recorded at Hertz Studio in Bialystok, Poland with producers Slawek and Wojtek Wieslawski and features artwork and layout by Seth (ROTTING CHRIST, PARADISE LOST).

MYTHIASIN, the band fronted by former STEEL PROPHET vocalist Rick Mythiasin, has commenced the recording sessions for its debut album, tentatively due before the end of the year through an as-yet-undisclosed label. The drum tracks for the song "The Truth" were completed last Sunday (July 23). Lost and Found Records USA has announced official licensed CD reissue of the extremely rare speed/thrash metal classic, VIKING's "Man of Straw".

Originally released in 1989 on Metal Blade Records, this fully licensed CD release was fully remastered, and contains rare and never-before-heard bonus tracks.

Despite a previous announcement to the contrary, drummer Tony Laureano (NILE, DIMMU BORGIR) will NOT be performing on MALEVOLENT CREATION's upcoming tenth studio album, "Doomsday X", >, tentatively due before the end of the year via Nuclear Blast Records. "Due to various schedualing conflicts I am no longer able to take part in the recording of MALEVOLENT CREATION's new album 'Doomsday X'," Tony writes on his web site. "It's unfortunate, but unavoidable. I wish them luck with the record, and look foward to hearing it."

MALEVOLENT CREATION is currently home writing and demoing material for the new CD, to be recorded later this summer. Recordings will take place at Mercury recording studios in Pompano Beach, FL with producer/engineer Gus Rios, with the mixing set to take place at Antfarm studis on Aaarhus, Denmark with producer Tue Madsen.

MALEVOLENT CREATION's current lineup includes original bandmembers Brett Hoffman on vocals, Jason Blachowicz on bass, Jon Rubin on guitar, and Phil Fasciana on guitar. Teh band has yet to announce a replacement for Laureano.

MALEVOLENT CREATION has been confirmed for the 2007 edition of "The Domination Tour", set to kick off next February. Also scheduled to take part are Greece's ROTTING CHRIST and Norway's CARPATHIAN FOREST.

On August 21, 2006, Danish metal hopefuls MERCENARY will release “The Hours That Remain” via Century Media Records. The follow-up to the critically acclaimed and much-lauded “11 Dreams” (2004), once again presents an intense musical entity formed out of influences from death-prog masters Opeth to prog-power archetypes Nevermore/Fates Warning to modern extreme-but-melodic acts like Soilwork.

Australian progressive metal band VANISHING POINT has issued the following update:

"We are currently busy writing and preparing ourselves for our fourth album for Dockyard 1. We are booked to go back into the recording studio in September with Endel Rivers at Palm Studios (BLACK MAJESTY, THE ETERNAL and many others) and things are going really well.

"What can we say about the new material so far? It's probably the heaviest music that we have come up with in some parts within the VANISHING POINT style. We still have the melodic edge, symphonic arrangements and thought-provoking lyrics as usual that you would expect on a VANISHING POINT album.

"We are very excited about the new material and we hope that you guys stick around for the next album!!!

"Oh, yeah, this time the album will not take years to complete — we want to have it ready for early next year. And yes, as many people are asking, the songs will be shorter, at least the majority of them will be, heh heh."

VANISHING POINT's latest album, "Embrace the Silence", was released in Europe in May 2005 through Dockyard 1, the new German company/record label formed by Dirk Putzke, Christine Stephan (both ex-Sanctuary/Noise Records) and Piet Sielck (IRON SAVIOR). "Embrace the Silence" is available in Australia and New Zealand through Riot Distributions.

KAMELOT guitarist Thomas Youngblood has posted the following message on the group's official web site:

"Greetings from Wolfsburg, Germany! Home of Volkswagen, they are everywhere here. We are here working on the new songs for the upcoming album and follow-up to 'The Black Halo'. It is going very very well on the new songs. It's incredibly hot here in Germany at the moment, even hotter than Florida where I live. We are already planning tour dates for Europe again that we hope to announce very soon. It will likely be spring 2007 and we will unveil our biggest stage ever. I also have previewed some of the footage from the upcoming DVD and it looks really amazing. The artwork is nearly complete and our friend Mattias Norén in Sweden is working very hard on the whole booklet. As soon as we have an official release date you will hear it here first."

KAMELOT's first-ever DVD, "One Cold Winter's Night", was shot in Oslo this past February. "We have 18 cameras on this shoot and the concert was nearly two hours long," vocalist Khan had previously stated. The disc was edited by Patric Ulleaus (DIMMU BORGIR, LACUNA COIL, IN FLAMES) and will include special guest appearances by Simone Simons (EPICA), Sascha Paeth and Snowy Shaw (ex-KING DIAMOND, DREAM EVIL), plus many others.

Also on the KAMELOT-related front, the first-ever KAMELOT anthology, "Lunar Sanctum", will be released by Sanctuary Records. It will feature some classics as well as unreleased live cuts from the band's last concerts in Tokyo.

KAMELOT will team up with EPICA for a North American tour beginning on September 19 in West Springfield, Virginia.

VELVET REVOLVER has decided to take a little time off from writing for its new album to play a few shows. But drummer Matt Sorum told ABC Radio's ePrep they're on track to have the CD in stores in the spring. No producer has been chosen at this point, but the band has been speaking with Rick Rubin (AUDIOSLAVE, RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS, SYSTEM OF A DOWN, SLAYER, SLIPKNOT), hoping to get him to come on board for the project.

"We've been talking to Rick Rubin," Sorum revealed. "So hopefully he's gonna come on board, because I think he's just a great song guy. And his advice to us, which was great advice, was, 'Write as many songs as possible.' He's listened to a lot of our riffs and different parts that we have. He's a very honest guy, and even if he doesn't produce us, he's given us a good sense of what we need to go for, and that's just great songs."

The working title for the disk remains "Libertad", although Sorum dismisses Scott Weiland's statements that it will be a concept record.

"You know, Scott said something about a concept album," Sorum told ABC Radio's ePrep. "But you know, the concept is let's get it done, you know what I mean? (laughs)"

VELVET REVOLVER's 2004 debut, "Contraband", was certified double-platinum for sales in excess of two million copies in the United States.

On Monday, July 24, BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE's debut album, "The Poison", was re-released by Visible Noise Records in the U.K. with four extra tracks and a bonus DVD including exclusive live tracks from Tokyo, Japan.

The extras include a DVD side that has the promo videos for "Hand of Blood", "4 Words (To Choke Upon)" and "Suffocating Under words of Sorrow", as well as live footage and three songs taken from the Club Quattro, Shibuya in Tokyo show earlier in the year. BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE's "The Poison" has sold 72,000 copies in the United States since its mid-February release, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

Swedish gore death masters DERANGED have commenced work on the follow-up to their sixth full-length album, "Obscenities in B Flat", which was released earlier this year on Listenable Records.

Commented drummer Rikard Wermen: "We have a couple of new songs more or less all done and so many ideas so it won't be any problem to throw some more tracks together. It's to early to say when we will eventually record the new disc. However, it will be titled '213' and a couple of titles that will hopefully and most likely end up on the disc are 'Death Walks on High Heels', 'Strip Nude for your Killer', 'Watch Me When I Kill', 'Too Young Too Die', 'The Killer Wore Black Gloves', 'So Sweet So Dead' and 'The Red Light Murderess'.

"And yes, it is the best musical work we have so far accomplished under the name DERANGED. It's brutal and insane, and will hopefully leave you dead with a broken neck in the pit."

Long-running horror-inspired metallers NECROPHAGIA have announced the addition of guitarist Undead Torment (DIABOLOS, ex-NOKTURNE) to the group's ranks. "A true passion for horror and gore, plus his dedication to the metal scene make Undead Torment a perfect fit in NECROPHAGIA," reads a posting on the band's web site. "Undead Torment will be replacing Frediablo who left NECROPHAGIA earlier in the year to focus on his other band. NECROPHAGIA wishes him all the best in the future."

German power metallers PRIMAL FEAR have posted the cover artwork for their upcoming "best of" collection, "Metal is Forever - The Very Best of Primal Fear", tentatively due on September 29 via Nuclear Blast Records (JVC in Japan). Swedish metallers EVERGREY have parted ways with bassist Michael Håkansson. Replacing him in the group's lineup is former HAMMERFALL bassist Fredrik Larsson, the band's manager has confirmed to BLABBERMOUTH.NET. An official statement from Michael announcing his departure from EVERGREY will be released shortly.

As previously reported, EVERGREY has been booked for one of Scandinavia's biggest festivals, Storsjöyran in Östersund. They will take the stage at 00.15 (quarter past midnight) on Friday, July 28, playing right after THE CARDIGANS. More information is available at www.storsjoyran.se.

EVERGREY's latest album, "Monday Morning Apocalypse", was released in April via InsideOut Music. The follow-up to 2004's "The Inner Circle" was recorded at Division One Studios in Gothenburg, Sweden by the experienced production team of Sanken Sandquist and Stefan Glaumann, who have previously worked with such artists as RAMMSTEIN, BON JOVI, BRITNEY SPEARS and DEF LEPPARD.

Michael's official statement on the matter reads as follows:

"After a long time of consideration and many, many hours of thinking I now, with sadness, announce my departure from the band.

"I have been a part of the band for seven years and during that time I have experienced so much and I have seen more than I ever thought I would. But now it is time for me to say goodbye.

"My reason for doing this is that I feel a strong urge to do something different in music. This is the one and only reason and it's 100% my own decision.

"I want to thank the boys for all the good times we have had together thoughout the years. I wish them the best of all success, something they truly deserve and without doubt will achieve."

Håkansson's replacement in EVERGREY is former HAMMERFALL bassist Fredrik Larsson.

LAAZ ROCKET, formed in 1982, were a mainstay in the Bay Area thrash scene for nine years. Their appearance at the Thrash Against Cancer benefit concert in July 2005 was their first U.S. show in over 14 years.

As previously reported, SATYRICON are reissuing their 1999 album, "Rebel Extravaganza", today (July 25). The record was remixed and features three bonus tracks: "Nemesis Divina (Clean Version Mix)" and "Blessed From Below (Melancholy Oppression Longing)", as well as a cover of SARCOFAGO's "I.N.R.I."

SATYRICON's latest album, "Now, Diabolical", debuted at No. 2 on the national Norwegian chart and also charted in Sweden and Finland. The CD sold around 1,700 copies in the United States in its first week of release — around one-tenth of the total number of units (15,000) shifted by the band's last effort, "Volcano", which came out in the U.S. in 2004.

Finnish "horror metallers" DOMINATION BLACK have set "Dark Legacy" as the title of their new album, tentatively due late 2006/early 2007 via Poison Arrow Records. The follow-up to 2005's "Fearbringer" will be recorded at the ManuAudio Studios in Kouvola with producer Sami Hauru (ID:EXORCIST). Songtitles set to appear on the CD include "Ghost of the Nightfall", "What Lies Beneath", "Phantom Light", "Dark Water Dreams", and "The Cemetary". According to a press release, "DOMINATION BLACK mascot 'Fearbringer' (created by LORDI mastermind Mr.
Lordi) is leading both music and lyrics into next level of weird nightmares and twisted horror."

California-based metallers AGENT STEEL have inked a deal with Holland's Mascot Records. The band is currently recording its new album for a tentative early 2007 release. A European tour with labelmates VICIOUS RUMORS is expected to kick off in March.

Commented guitarist Juan Garcia: "The recording of the new album is coming along great vocals are finished and sound killer! Guitar tones are heavy! Drums tracks are solid as ever! And the bass tone will make Cliff Burton proud. Ten new songs, some minor touch-ups and some guitar solos still need to be completed before Bill Metoyer mixes down the new tracks."
